TELEMUNDO Y MÁS: Celia, Bajo el Mismo Cielo, Señora Acero and Preciosa Perla: Week of November 23, 2015

HELP WANTED!  We need your energy and creativity!

Dear Friends:

After five years and many amazing conversations in this space, Jean and I have decided to give someone else a turn at hosting the discussion.  Lately, we've been more or less absentee landlords around here and we think you deserve better.

Is a separate Telemundo page still necessary?  We're not sure because:

- Telemundo novelas are now included in Diva's weekly update, ¿Qué nos cuenta, CarayCaray?

- While daily recaps are still the mainstay of CarayCaray, now some Univisión novelas are covered by weekly posts with abbreviated (or not so abbreviated) recaps in the comment section.  See, for example, the page for discussions of La Vecina.   Why not separate pages for individual Telemundo novelas too?

Is someone interested in posting a page for Bajo el mismo cielo?

How about Celia?  Does she deserve a page of her own?

Or would you rather continue with a single Telemundo y más page?

Important: If you'd like to be involved but you're not on Jane's roster of recappers, you'll have to ask her to add you.

Please don't panic!  If we haven't figured it out by next week – and we might not, with Turkey Day and all – I'll put up a new page on November 30.

What do you think?  Who'd like to keep this thing going?  What format would you prefer?  Let's come up with a plan.

I was a complete bust at putting up pages many years ago when I did daily recaps of Doña Bárbara during Jean's absence. I had to ask others to post them. Since then I've only posted recaps in the comments portion.

So I don't think I have the technical chops to take over posting pages.

I don't know what others think. I'm content with a weekly page that covers all the Telemundo evening offerings. We only went over the number of comments and needed to add additional space during Reina de Corazones when that one was a big hit, at least for Caray folks. I'm wondering if La Querida del Centauro will attract more comments than Señora Acero has. I still remember how chilling Humberto Zurita was in La Reina del Sur and might at least start watching that one.

So, maybe someone else would be willing to take over the duty of putting up a weekly page in place of our stalwarts Jean and NovelaMaven. I'm not volunteering for that, only for doing one or two recaps a week.

I'll do a recap of Bajo tonight.

Bajo. I very much like the way things are now, though I do realize it may put an unfair burden on the recappers, like novelera especially for Bajo el mismo cielo, but also Deb and several of the others who comment on the other telemundo telenovelas.

BAJO EL MISMO CIELO – LUNES – Parte 1 de 3

We begin at the cemetery where Rodrigo is telling an astonished Adela that it was difficult and expensive, but he brought Matías’ remains here to be buried beside his mother. Adela: “Is he here?” Rod: “I knew I could not bring him back to life so you’d forgive me for what I did, but at least you have a place to visit him.” Adela kneels by the grave sobbing that she wants him to forgive her for not being able to save him. She says that she loves him with all her heart.

Gracie shrieks at the guard she stabbed with a sharpened toothbrush. [Does this mean she’s given up brushing her teeth until she escapes?] She has gotten the guy’s gun after she stabbed him. She tells him she’s a nurse; she knew where to stab him so he’d live. But she also knows where to kill him if he forces her to shoot him.

At Casa Sanders we get more shrieking. Débora says that Ramona has gone crazy. Jacob has to hold her back from attacking Ramona. Ramona tells her story. She was the only one of the family who came without papers. It suited her sister to have her as a servant.

Adela tells her brother’s grave that she didn’t have a chance to say goodbye to him, but at least now he’s with his mother. Rodrigo gives her a flower to put on the tomb. He asks if she’ll permit him to give her mother a beautiful gravestone like the one he had prepared for Matías. She asks him why he did this – to rid himself of guilt. She then asks him what happened the day her mother died (doubtless because of what Jay said to her). We see him remembering pointing the gun at Laura, her escaping and running in front of a vehicle. He lies and tells Adela he had nothing to do with how her mother died.

Jay comes to the hideout, visibly nervous, and asks if Rod is there. And then if a woman came looking for Fire. When Trensas tells him no one came, he mutters to himself that she probably didn’t believe him.

At Gracie’s orders, the guy she stabbed calls in the guy who’s guarding the front. This guy pulls his gun on Gracie. Gracie points the one she got from the inside guy, and we have a true Mexican standoff.

Ramona tells Jacob that her sister took her in when she arrived on the condition that she cook, clean, and care for Débora. Ramona appeals to Débora to remember how much she loved her when she was a child. With tears in her eyes she asks when Débora became so cold hearted.

Gracie has won because the two guards don’t dare harm her because of the baby. She grabs her backback from its hiding place and starts for the door, but Sharon has come in. The stabbed guy leaps over the sofa and tries to get the gun away from her. It goes off, and the guy is killed.

Adela tells Rodrigo she’ll never forget this (burying Matías properly). He promises her that neither Jay nor any other gang members will ever bother her. [He has the good sense not to put any moves on her just yet.]

BAJO EL MISMO CIELO – LUNES – Parte 2 de 3

Susy comes in to the big scene and wants to know what’s going on. Despite Débora’s hysterical yelling, Jacob tells Susy about Ramona being D’s aunt. D then tells Jacob that she hates him and runs out. Susy goes after her mother.

We get a bit of welcome humor at this point. María has come home, opens her bedroom door and discovers quite a sight. Rodolfo is standing on the bed wearing cowboy boots, a cowboy hat, sunglasses, and nothing else. He has a rose between his teeth and a heart-shaped pillow that says “Amor” covering up the family jewels. The bed is strewn with rose petals. María is forced to laugh. But later on she brushes off the rose petals. When he complains about being “ready” and getting no action, she reminds him of when she tried again and again to seduce him.

Gracie arrives at Felicia’s house with her maternity top stained with blood. After lots and lots of shrieking she convinces Felicia to drive her to the border.

When Adela returns to the office from the cemetery, the insufferable Erick grills her. “And that face? Have you been crying?” “Who was the person who called you before you left the office?” Just then Carlos arrives at the magazine and they all three go into Erick’s office.

Ramona tells the rest of her story to Jacob. She was the youngest child, the one they designated to take care of their parents. The rest of the children went to school and graduated, but there was no money left to educate her. Jacob asks why, if she raised Débora, she never helped her. Ramona sobs that no matter how much she loved Débora, she ended up just like her mother.

In her bedroom Débora paints herself as the victim to Susy and blames the whole thing on “Mati”. She does admit that Ramona is her tía.

Carlos tells Erick he’d prefer to discuss what happened with Ramona with Mati. Erick, of course, doesn’t want to leave them alone. He says he collaborated on the article and deserves to hear what happened. Adela is disgusted and says she doesn’t have time to listen to them squabble.

Rodrigo comes home yelling for Sharon and asking why no one is out front guarding. Then he sees the dead guy. Sharon tells him that Gracie killed the guy and escaped. He’s livid and can’t believe little Gracie got the best of them all. Sharon tells him about when Gracie tried to talk to Felicia, and thinks that may be where she went. Rod tells Gacho to kill the outside guard and tells Sharon he’ll deal with her later. He and Gacho leave.

Felicia definitely shows her good side in her kindness to Gracie.

Carlos, rather grim, tells the two of them he did what they’d all agreed, putting the magazines all over the neighborhood. Erick asks how Débora found out, and Carlos tells him that her friends came over after reading it. Adela asks if Débora tried to hurt Ramona, but Carlos says he was there to defend her. And then Jacob arrived. He doesn’t tell them the big secret. He starts for the door and Adela follows, calling his name.

Erick the jackass: “Come here, please. Now are you going to tell me where you went after getting that phone call? Who did you meet? Was it that gangbanger who's in love with you?” Adela, angry: “Yes, it was with that pandillero who is the son of Carlos. [I don’t think she should tell this jerk her story, but then I’m not a writer of telenovelas.]

BAJO EL MISMO CIELO – LUNES – Parte 3 de 3

Rod and Gacho break into Felicia’s house and discover that she’s gone. He calls Trensas to alert the whole gang to comb LA for the two of them.

On the way south Gracie is consulting a map and telling Felicia to take an odd route to the border. She thinks that way they’ll avoid the gang that will be looking for him. She tells Felicia the baby is a girl. [How did she find this out without ultrasounds?] Eventually Gracie starts crying out in pain. She tells Felicia se le rompió la fuente (her water broke) and she is having contractions 5 minutes apart. Uh oh!

After reading the magazine article, Susy goes to her room very sad. Luis comes and puts his arms around her to comfort her. But she gets upset when she finds out he know about the article.

Adela tells Erick the whole story. She says that in her neighborhood you’re either in the gang or you’re a victim. She tells him they killed her brother in front of her because he broke a rule. She tells him she got away and then Carlos appeared to save her. He asks if the son of Carlos is a gang member. She says that he is. She tells him about Noemi’s overdose, about Colmillo ordering her death.

Erick asks how she could be free if she’s a gang member. She says that she was in the gang. She’s not in it now. And she also says she’s not going to put him or anyone else at the magazine in danger. He says that this is too complicated for him to understand. He gets up saying he has to put his thoughts in order. [We should be so lucky that he’s gone off her because of this tale.]

Carlos comes to Felicia’s house, notices the door was forced open and calls Cristóbal. Chabela is still an idiot from time to time and won’t let Cris answer his phone call until he promises to tell everyone about their relationship.

Ramona is leaving Casa Sanders. Jacob says he’ll drive her. He asks her to stay with him, but she says she’s going to stay with Mati.

Débora laments about her friends finding out about what she did to Ramona. First she says she’s going to be a tall tree that won’t fall, and then she takes a handful of pills. [So we got our wish after all; but I doubt she’ll die.]

Bajo. Excellent recap, novelera, and an exciting episode! One thing that bothers me about the Ramona situation is that they mentioned she was just a teenager when her parents died. If she was an underage orphaned relative of an American citizen, it seems to me that she should have been able to get into the country legally. I say that because I had a graduate student originally from Mexico who was orphaned as a child and raised in Texas by her much older sister and the sister's husband, both of whom were US citizens. It sounds as if Ramona's family was not only taking advantage of her but scamming her too. I share your hope, novelera, that Adela's background will be way too much for Erick to handle and he'll back off. It occurs to me that they don't use Luis's situation to promote community colleges because they're planning to market the tn in Spanish-speaking countries that don't have them. Greicy going into labor on a back road part way to Tijuana. My goodness!

Bajo. And evidently Rodrigo did bring in doctors to look after Greicy during her pregnancy. Mob obstetrician. The mind boggles!

BAJO

Wonderful recap of a very exciting episode. Thanks very much, Novelera.
I worry about Ramona's wanting to stay with Mati. Ramona and Mati are the two people Débora is out to get. Their staying together would make it easier for Débora to try to kill them both. (And, like you, I don't think Débora's overdose will kill her, alas.)

I wonder what Sharon is thinking now. She was quite upset when Gacho kills the other gang member, and she knows that Rodrigo is furious with her. If she were smart (and she is smart), she'd try to get away before Rodrigo comes back.

Loved the start of the scene when Maria enters her house and sees Rudolfo. I burst out laughing. I'm glad she pointed out to him that he's got no right to complain if she doesn't want sex, since she tried in vain many times to get him interested.

That scene in the car with Gracie and Felicia was pretty gripping. I have no idea what's going to happen next--or, rather, I have lots of ideas of what's going to happen next and can't decide among them.

Even though Gracie was examined by a doctor hired by the mob, I don't think he'd be able to tell what the sex of her child will be without an ultrasound or some other test that he probably can't perform in Rodrigo's house. So I don't know how Gracie knows her baby will be a girl.

NovelaMaven, I've been most grateful for the Telemundo section that you and Jean have made possible. I'd like to see something continue, though what I think I might like best is what is apparently being done with La Vecina: a new page each week just for that novela, where people can comment and post recaps as they wish. What I especially like about that arrangement is that one doesn't have to wade through many lines of comments about other novelas to find the ones about, say, Bajo el mismo cielo. But I don't know how that would work. For example, what would happen once Bajo is over? Would one person be responsible for putting up a page at a given hour, regardless of the novela? What happens if no one volunteers for a given time slot? At least if there's just one page for all the Telemundo novelas, they all stand an equal chance of being covered.

I'm not sure what's involved in putting up a page. I'm tempted to volunteer, but at times I'm not around when a new page has to go up. And when that happens, I sometimes don't even have Internet access. Anyway, I thought I'd offer my thoughts. I'd HATE to see there no longer be a place to discuss Telemundo novelas each day.

Bajo. And in this episode we saw Rodrigo unequivocally order the murder of someone, one of the younger homies, whose only crime was being a bit inept.

GENERAL

Juanita, it's a lot easier to put up a page than it was a few years ago. Once blogmom gives you her blessing and adds you to the list of recappers, you just go to a particular page and click on a pencil icon. You then see a large text box in which you can compose. (And the beauty of it is that you can go back and correct your own typos!) When you are ready to post, you just click "Publish." [New recappers get an email with brief and very straightforward instructions.]

You can also just "Save" what you've written and come back to it later. And you can "Schedule" what you've written to appear at a particular time if that works out better for you.

A single-page omnibus format (like what we have now) is simple and flexible, but at times it gets cluttered.

A single-show format means that if there is no 'champion' for a particular show, then that show will probably be ignored. It definitely favors favorites.

Nobody is available all the time. Jean and I filled in for each other over the years when we needed to. Our buddy system definitely worked well. That's not the only solution, obviously. If you are working solo, you just need to ask for help when you know you won't be around to post.

GENERAL

I'm not watching any Telemundo tns now, but I have before and I kinda started recapping one in the middle, when not very many people were watching or posting, it gave me a chance to post a recap without any pressure and without there having to be a page for that specific novela. I love how organized folks are on the caraycaray site, but the less formal set up of the Telemundo page is a great place to try something new for people (like me ) who may not be as organized without as much pressure. I personally might not have ever tried recapping if I hadn't had the space to practice on a less popular tn on here. (feel free to decide if that's a good or bad thing for yourself:))

Novelera, SpanProf and sneaky two shoes,

Thanks for weighing in!

sneaky two shoes, that's a great point you make. This page is a pressure-free place to try your hand at recapping. (As I recall, you had some very enthusiastic fans when you were writing about Los Herederos del Monte.)

Novelera, no one is more technologically challenged than I. It's not a question of whether you have the "technical chops" or not, just whether or not you have internet access and you want to do it.

Reposting from the tail end of last week: "Hi all, I'm only half in here, but I do love what I've seen of this novela. And I LOVE the recaps & comments. I have one concern and maybe Romy can add her expert opinion here: We are all thrilled that Carlos has a work permit. How does that jibe with not having a green card? If he can work legally, then he can be a legal resident? But more than that, do we assume that his employees are also indocumentados and if so, wouldn't that make Carlos especially vulnerable if someone wanted to make trouble for him. Just an overanxious mind here churning up possible issues. Thanks again recappers & commenters."

If I can get to a computer later, I'll comment on last night's show.

LVX, a work permit is usually granted once someone has an approved legal residency permit or is awaiting an immigration decision. It is temporary and has to be renewed every 1 or 2 years and if the application is rejected later than the permit is invalid. So far every one Alan, including Jacob, (Adela in magazine) and his home, is in violation of immigration law. Every employer MUST verify their employees right to work in the US. Since Carlos was working illegally(before permit) I am guessing his employees are illegal too. They do this by having the potential employee bring proof and fill out a form I-9. Carlos needs a citizen over 21 years of age to sponsor him. We will see if the show become fanciful about how and if he gets a residency permit. I will chyme in to confirm whatever they do.

GENERAL

I'm just about to leave for my son's house with raw turkey, stuffing ingredients, and candied yams baked last night. This is our holiday tradition. I show up the night before (1.5 hours drive to their house), sleep over, and get the turkey in the oven on Thanksgiving morning.

Still hoping Erick's misgivings about Adela continue. That would be a VERY refreshing telenovela twist. What usually happens is that the usually sinister "other man" obsessively pursues our heroine until the last episode.

So, did Colmillo mutter something about killing the nurse? Because she was keeping Fire apprised of his medical condition? Figures. In Telenovelaland the mortality rate of nurses in hospitals is shockingly high.

That baby switch was quite an interesting development. And, yes, Gracie may be to blame for the death of a baby, not hers but Felicia's. Since the baby was born dead, she could have been dead in utero some time before they left to travel to the border. But I think the writers mean that crazed journey to have caused the baby to die. I felt SO sorry for Felicia. And I'm surprised the writers showed her unwilling to accept Gracie's baby. I expected her to smile happily at the prospect of having ANY baby. Not sure how this is going to play out, and I won't see tonight's episode until Friday.

More telenovela deviations from reality. I don't think that many first pregnancies result in that quick of a labor.

And, if Willy manages somehow to get a DNA test, I suppose that Rodrigo's DNA, inherited from his father, would prove Carlos to be the father. And the baby being Carlos' grandchild makes it even more likely Carlos and Adela will raise it.

Bajo
I was even thinking after Felicia's baby died, it wold be a good idea to swap to keep Gracies's baby out the hands of Rod. At least Felicia is better than that & with Carlos as padre the baby could have a loving upbringing. Even if Willy was the true papa, he is not exactly father material.

BAJO,

Thanks to Novelera for all of her postings and to all who contribute.
I was not able to post yesterday for a number of reasons and late today because
of Thanksgiving preparations.

Thanks to Jean and NovelaMaven for all of your dedication these past 5 years.
You definitely need a break. I really enjoy having a place to talk about the TN's but I don't see the need for detailed recaps....unless people miss episodes. But if people are watching regularly, I think it would be sufficient to ask questions about parts that they do not understand. It seems that the recappers are more skilled at translating the episodes, but most of us get a good gist of what is going on.
Therefore, I think we could use the space to ask questions to clarify what we do not understand, and by the same token, if a certain part were to be left out, then we could feel free to add anything that was missed. This should cover the story and not put too much of a burden on anyone.

Wow! what an episode Tuesday night! Still riveting and awesome that we are not able to predict much of what has happened.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL!

Bajo. Sorry for the gap. I've been suffering from a nasty little 24 hr. virus. I'm with Floridia. One of the really nice things about Telemundo is that they post an entire episode online the very next day--complete with closed captioning if necessary, so that our role could be to make comments, clarifications and snarky remarks--if so inclined. :). Though novelera's et als' recaps are wonderful!I too thought that Felicia would delude herself into believing that the living baby was hers. And given all the close monitoring her pregnancy has been getting, you would think her doctor would have spotted something wrong. Some women are just lucky with pregnancy and deliveries. My older daughter was born in 4 1/2 hours and the younger in 3. My daughter's children were born in 2 hrs and 1 hour respectively. According to my daughter's obstetrician it isn't that the labors were short but very long, latent and painless. I guess we would have been in great shape to survive in a hunter-gatherer society. I too am wondering how long it will be before dna sorts everything out. When dna analysis was invented, a great plotline was lost. :)

Bajo. That and cell phones. Have you noticed how writers have to wok out ways to disable cell phones to leave character stranded?

Bajo. work characters

Bajo

Like Novelera, I immediately thought about the likely DNA testing and the fact that Carlos might well be seen as the likely father of "Felicia's" baby, since he and Rodrigo would share a good deal of DNA.

Felicia's rejection of the baby seems to suggest that she's perhaps becoming mentally unhinged. That is to say, even more unhinged than she's been.

One thing that surprised me was Gracey's ability to move around seemingly without pain very soon after giving birth (when she was trying to help Felicia). I certainly could never have moved about so effortlessly shortly after giving birth.

And what will happen to/with Gracey?

General

I'm still somewhat unclear about what is involved in taking over what NovelaMaven and Jean have done with the Telemundo page. I had assumed that it simply was a matter of putting up a space once a week where people could post recaps, comment, etc., just as they're doing now. But NovelaMaven's mention of "composing" and the ability to correct one's typos makes me think my notion of what's involved isn't right.

As for the role of recaps, I guess I feel a little differently from Floridia. I was recently on a trip that lasted several weeks, and I had no access to Telemundo during that time. I also had limited Internet access, and very limited time. The recaps were a godsend that made it possible for me to more or less keep up with the novela while I was away. And even when I'm here, there's usually a lot that I get from recaps that I missed when I watched the episode. Yes, at times I could ask about what I don't understand, but much of the time I don't even realize what I've not understood until I read a recap. So while I think having a space where people could just make comments and ask questions is good, I'd love to see recaps continue. With some novelas, the recaps have been absolutely vital to my understanding.

GENERAL

Floridia, you are very welcome! It has been our pleasure.

Juanita, it IS simple. "Here's your page for the week!"

GENERAL

Thanks, NovelaMaven, for your reassuring reply. If there were two or more people taking over for you and Jean, I'd be happy to be one of them.

BAJO,

SPANPROF, I am a mother of several children and had fairly short labors. I have never heard your daughter's doctor's explanation of a "long, latent, and painless labor." I find that fascinating.

The baby switch seemed convenient for Felicia, but in real life, of course, it would
be different. She suffered an enormous trauma, and she had bonded with her own baby.
She cannot just erase her baby from her memory.

Having Rodrigo as the father of her baby wouldn't be easy either. Even having Willy as the father would not be as bad as Rod. But she so wanted the father to be Carlos.

JUANITA, I understand why you like to have full recaps. There are times when you don't even realize that you missed something until you see it in the recap.
Also ...five years ago, I was watching STUD and was called away from home suddenly. That's when by accident I discovered Caray. I had missed the entire episode where
Valentina was stranded at the altar. The recap filled me in on every detail as if I had seen the episode. But in general, it is a big commitment to watch the show and then read a long recap. It is a luxury. That's why I would not mind an abbreviated version.

Like the way Ramona is moving UPSTAIRS. But I am extremely disappointed in her that she is not speaking up about Juana whose situation is far worse. She has every opportunity to do so. And as far as keeping foolish promises not to say anything,
that's nonsense. She of all people should know better.

I also do not understand the reference that was made earlier in the TN about Deborah and her tia. It seemed to me that one of them had been severely abused or even killed and that was the reason for Deborah's pill taking.

Or, are we now to believe that keeping this secret about her tia forced her to take tranquilizers? And to abuse her? And that she really had a conscience after all, way down deep? This seems lame. Deborah was not a victim. She was the one victimizing. Susy has enough sense not to follow in the family tradition of abuse.

Thanks to all commenters.

Enjoy the down time.

GENERAL

Juanita – EXCELLENT! I won't do anything until someone else steps up.

Guys, the clock is ticking. If no one else volunteers, then next week will be our last hurrah on CarayCaray.

Meanwhile:

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL!

Bajo. Thanks for all you have done, NovelaMaven. I would really miss this site if it were gone! I expect there's more to the Debora story than just Ramona, who, btw, should get herself a good immigration lawyer. Maybe Debora was sensitive about being Mexican-American? Bullied by her peers? Floridia: My daughter's doctor asked her to go to the hospital because she was afraid she was overdue, only to find that she was almost 100% dilated. She then went into labor (on her own, not induced) and gave birth in about an hour. Almost an ideal situation.

BAJO

SpanProf,

Indeed IDEAL! Perhaps I was close to being in that category and did not realize it.

Let's hope an IDEAL compromise is reached regarding our participation at this sight.

All the best to all.

Bajo. Thanks, Floridia! And of course now the infant in question is the terror of her ballet class, not to mention her preschool. :) I too hope there is a compromise; compared to the univision folks what we do seems to be somewhat minimal. Btw, has everyone noticed what a blamer and injury collector Rodrigo is (I believe someone mentioned that early on)? He's never to blame for anything, but someone else always is--and never fate, God or bad luck. Carlos is to blame for his mother's death (not Cancer), Greicy is to blame for the supposed death of their child, not him for kidnapping her and locking her up, gang members force him to kill them etc.

BAJO

Too funny about Your Little Terror!

Also, please note how strong Greicy has become:
Sacrificing her baby for the greater good,
Daring to talk back to Rodrigo and calling him out on all that she knows about him--
and this really hurts because she did love him unconditionally and hoped he would make a real change in his life;
With a mother's instinct,sneaking into the nursery to feed her baby;
Accepting blame for being an assassin even though it was an accident;

Reminder: Felicia had a high risk pregnancy from Day 1.
I wonder if a cause of death will be stated. I didn't hear one.

Bajo. Or as I prefer to believe, combining the best traits of her two grandmothers. :) Right on about Greicy's becoming stronger, Floridia. And for Felicia's baby to have been born dead and not resuscitatable, I would expect that she had been dead for at least several hours to a day or 2. The doctors haven't given any cause of the still birth as of yet.

NovelaMaven If it's really as simple as "Here's your page for the week", then I think I can commit to doing this at least until mid-May 2016. I have been a CarayCaray reader/lurker/commenter from the beginning (Alborada, which was single-handedly recapped by Jane, our blog mom). I will not commit to recapping because I can't predict my work schedule from one month to the next, But be aware that I do go offline during the summer. Perhaps by then, someone else may decide take it over. Now that my mom has passed away and all that chaos is beginning to settle down, I could step in, for the next few months anyway, to put up a page where people could post Telemundo stuff. It would be a shame to lose our place here. I haven't seen a Uni novela in years now because Telemundo is lightyears ahead in terms of topics, acting, plots, you name it.

As others have mentioned, this page is a great place to break into recapping. It is relatively low pressure, as compared with the Univision shows. I had fun with my newbie recaps of Los Miserables and would encourage any and all lurkers to come forward. This blog would not exist without your input. I love the Telemundo side because it is a little more open and less clique-ish than the Univision side. So, NovelaMaven if you would kindly steer me towards my responsibilities, I would be happy to take this on until next summer. I can't promise to be an active commenter, but will do what's necessary to keep the page open.

LXV, that's great news! Juanita has also offered to help out so you could alternate weeks the way Jean and I have done. (Or you could figure out a system of your own.)

LXV and Juanita,
I emailed Kat to let her know. You can both contact her at 5ftLatina at gmail.com (in normal email address form) so she can get you set up.

Thank you both so much!

LXV and Juanita: Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you! And THANK YOU!

NovelaMaven,

Thanks so much for all you've done. LXV, I'm delighted that you, too, have volunteered, so we can move ahead. I like the idea of alternating weeks. Does that work for you, too, LXV? I'll write to you privately and see. I'll also write to Kat to get set up. I'm happy to begin with the upcoming week, as long as I can put up the page in the late afternoon on Monday.

General

SpanProf, I'm happy to do it. It's interesting comments like yours about the novelas that make me eager to see the Telemundo page continue. So thank YOU!

Bajo. Aw. shucks, Juanita, t'weren't nothin. :) I must say I am disappointed in Mr. Jacob--or at least his writers. He should not have encouraged Adela to quit. He and his family are very likely among the too wealthy and powerful to be in danger from La Colonia. Also, if it were so important to him for his magazine to always show the Hispanic community in a positive light he would never have had her do that profile of Rodrigo. For once Erick is right that her gang background is an asset for understanding things that the rest of the magazine staff couldn't possibly. And that long grave-like pit Alan is digging. Is that supposed to be for Juana? Very ominous.

SpanProf, I too was disappointed--and a bit surprised--that Mr. Jacob wasn't more understanding and supportive when Mati told him about her past. He immediately said that he would no longer be able to trust her, and he even threw in her face her having stolen money from him (even though she had been clearly apologetic and I think the money had been returned). Perhaps I shouldn't have been so surprised, since IIRC he had freaked out at Luis's having a brother who was a gang member, and once he found out, he (Mr. Jacob) didn't want Susy involved with Luis. Then again, perhaps it's more realistic that Mr. Jacob be less than perfect.

As soon as I saw Alan digging a grave-sized space, it seemed obvious what his intentions were. And from the look on Juana's face, I suspect that even she may have a good idea of the danger she's in. I suppose it's too much to hope for that Alan will wind up in that grave.

Hi all, glad to be on board with Juanita! I just couldn't face the idea of a bleak winter without "our" page. I love this gang! So the two of us will be alternating and spelling each other. So looking forward to it.

Bajo. Juanita: Good point about Mr. Jacob's previous panicking about gangs. It would be so fitting if Alan did end up in that grave. Maybe Ramona will finally come through and blow the whistle on the Juana -Alan situation. It would be very satisfying if Santiago shoved him down there, but might draw the attention of ICE.

Bajo. And please, Adela, no pity sex for Rodrigo! Though I can see someone walking in and jumping to the wrong conclusions--can't let this tn end too soon. :)

Dear Agnes and Juanita,

I am absolutely delighted to know you ladies are going to keep the page going. It's also nice to know that people seem to like it pretty much the way it is – simple and inclusive.

Thanks so much for doing this. And thanks to everyone who chimed in. It's been a pleasure.

Sure. Late afternoon is what Jean and I usually aimed for. It's all yours!

BAJO

JUANITA and LXV, Thank you for stepping up for this labor of love which brings
much enjoyment to many of us. I've grown accustomed to this SPACE; it almost makes the day begin ... or end.

And, LXV, I agree with your assessment of Univision TN's which are,for the most part, pretty formulaic. I've been leaning towards Telemundo for 2 years with only selected viewing. I dropped Univision after Quiero Amarte which I did enjoy very much. Only a handful of comments were made daily because it was an afternoon TN that prime timers
missed.

I too was disappointed in Jacob, but realistically it is a clash of IDEALS with REALITY. IVORY TOWER V. REAL WORLD. Even with liberal ideas, though, I would be
upset if my daughter were dating a guy whose brother was a big time gang leader.

SpanProf, I was thinking along the same lines as you regarding the lifeless baby.
Not having an iota of medical training, I was thinking that if the baby were the result of very recent stress on the part of the mother, the baby would be born in distress rather than dead. I hope a relative time of death can be determined.

I don't see any likelihood of Adela giving into Rod's sexual advances. She is too smart for that, too leery of his past deeds for that, and too much in love with Carlos for that.

Juana, PLEASE get out of there now!

I gotta say, there's nothing as heartwarming as thanks from all you folks. I'm thrilled to be partnering with Juanita. There's a bit of a learning curve, but nothing we can't handle (gulp!) but I know we can count on the old hands to help get us launched. So, please bear with us until we get our bearings.

BAJO,

LXV AND JUANITA,

Looking forward to your successful new challenge. Just think; you will be learning
and mastering skills many of us will never have.

Again, thanks

At this juncture, is there anyway for the sidebar to be updated? Are all those people whose names and pictures are posted still recapping?

If there is a desire to leave them up there permanently, I don't mind, but I would like to see all current recappers there as well....if possible.

Thank you for this consideration.

Dear Floridia,

I'm afraid that's above my pay grade. :-) You could send a note to blog mom [caray at mappamundi.com] or to Kat [5FtLatina at gmail.com], though and ask them.

I can tell you that a few years ago, blog mom [aka Jane, aka Chapel Hill Fiddler, aka Melinama] asked the then-recappers to send her photos so she could update the sidebar. I suspect that she didn't get much of a response to her request.

A few folks in the photos are recapping right now: Jane aka Melinama (Antes Muerta que Lichita), Diva aka Kat aka 5 Ft Latina (Muchacha Italiana viene a casarse), Jardinera and Vivi (Yo no creo en los hombres).

Our own Jean, of course, has recapped several recent Telemundo shows, even if she isn't doing one now.

JudyB recently "retired" from recapping, but has continued to grace these pages with her extraordinary comments.

Julia stops by to comment now and then, and so does Cheryl.

Hombre de misterio, Sylvia, Flores de Azul, Pata and Julie haven't recapped lately, but as far as I know, they haven't definitively "retired."

All the other people are before my time.

Thanks NvMv for your remarks about recappers of yore and the sidebar pix. I remember when that list was quite short and many of the originals are still with us whether as commenters or recappers. I look at Hombre de Misterio's charming smile and wish there were more guys in the group. We had the adorable Nicolas very briefly, just a college kid really but he did a bang-up job with his commentary. And of course,Chris & wife. Then more recently, I had the pleasure of sharing the final episodes of Los Miz with the inimitable El Señor EC who had us all fooled for the longest time until he declared himself.

It would be nice to see an updated rogues' gallery, but I don't mind the trip down memory lane either.

Speaking of guys, we've got the wonderful Mauricio, who was on the Reina de Corazones team, now recapping Pasión y Poder. And of course, there's Dr. Carlos, commenter extraordinaire and now occasional recapper. Nor should we forget the Gringo, a faithful and playful commenter on Univisión novelas.

Many recappers have never been featured in the rogues' gallery. At this point, there are and have been so many of us that an exhaustive display sounds, well, exhausting. :)

NovelaMaven,

Thank you kindly for your prompt response.

Perhaps, one of these days, I will get around to contacting the masterminds you

mentioned.

Bajo
just caught up
Greicy's babe was born with earrings!!!!!??

BAJO
Variopinta: "...born with earrings!!!!!??" You noticed that too? Most Mexicans I know pierce their daughters' ears as soon as possible, but in the context of our plot, that scenario is completely implausible. I guess the baby they got from the actor's pool just happened to have pierced ears already. Just sloppy scenic directing.
