La Vecina Highlights and Discussion #123-127 Dec. 14-18

Here's the post for the week.

Thanks, Sara!

Monday, 12/14/15, recap: I was writing holiday cards while watching this episode, so my memory might be foggy.

-Edwina and Simon spark some flames as they rewire the panel in the rocket. But the fire is put out for Edwina by a call from Serena, telling happily clueless Simon that she and a group of scientist are coming to check out his rocket.

-Sara accepts Pedro’s outrageous usury interest rates. Pedro puts Anselmo in charge of the construction guys. There is something nefarious about this that I didn’t really pay attention to. Pedro plans to use Sara to manipulate Tonio, if Tonio decides to come back to San Gaspar after he recuperates. His other henchie will stay out of sight, until the heat about the killer nurse subsides.

-Isabel causes Tonio to have another crisis when she spews her hateful words in his ears. They sedate him, AGAIN! Ric swings by, and immediately knows there is nothing wrong with Tonio—Isa is the one provoking his crisis. Isa accepts it and brags about it. They are both having this discussion in front of unconscious, drugged up Tonio. Poor Tonio! Isa says she will keep him in this state for as long as necessary, and she is sure he will forget about La Vecina once he is out of SG. Ric knows this isn’t true and mocks her.

-Titina admits to her friend that she’s not really pregnant, but she HAS to find Sebastian at a vulnerable moment and seduce him into having sex, so that she gets pregnant for real. Her friend is shocked about the baby lie, but suggests to Titina that Sebastian has to be pretty vulnerable right now, what with his girlfriend learning about the (fake) baby and taking off. (Chelo meets Nat at the D.F. airport and drops some more lines from his tn on her.) And she’s right, because Sebas has spent the whole afternoon getting drunk and is semi-conscious on his hotel bed.

- Luckily, the Conatrol Quartet, Rafa, Nacho, Pepe and Nelson, have been let into Sebas’ room, and Pepe stops Titina before she can get any closer to Sebas. He threatens to tell her bros that she was trying to get into Sebas’ hotel room, at night. Titina is foiled again! Sebas is too drunk to understand what they are trying to tell him, so the Conatrol Quartet return the next morning. They tell Sebas about Nelson being the traitor and Pedro being the mob boss. Pepe, and his raging hangover, keep Sebas from tearing Nelson to pieces. Nelson mentions the D.F. traitor, and Sebas quickly believes it could be Ric and it would explain many of his recent actions-- especially his targeting Sara, since he knows how much Sara means to Tonio. (Even this discussion does not spur Nelson to mention the threat to Sara he overheard between the D.F. traitor and Pedro, which was followed by Sara’s restaurant exploding. What is he waiting for?!)

-Sebas wants to tell the police about Pedro. The all point out how respected Pedro is, and that it would be Nelson’s word against his. They get Sebas aboard the “get proof first” train. Pepe records Ric talking to him about sensor stuff and plays it for Nelson, but Nelson can’t definitively say if he is or isn’t the same person he heard speaking to Pedro. Arrgg!!

-Sebas is also brought up to speed about Tonio’s recent “violent” behavior, that only seems to occur when Isabel is present. He quickly figures Isabel is the cause, and decides to find a way to keep her away from Tonio. He enlists the Conatrol Quartet to help.

Thanks for this great recap, Vivi :-)

I loved "Edwina and Simon spark some flames as they rewire the panel in the rocket."
Yeah, they did!

Will someone puh-leeese keep Isa away from Tonio?

Denise

You're welcome Denise. I did forget one thing. Sebas sends Rafa to Tonio's apartment to get the papers on the agreement with the governor. He also finds the 200K peso check Tonio wrote to Sara. I'm very relieved none of Tonio's family or Isa found it. Sebas tells Sara about it. She's surprised and doesn't like that Tonio went against her wishes. But she continues to refuse the money-- even more so now with Tonio's family all against her. She found another way to pay for the repairs, but doesn't tell Sebas that Pedro is who she got the money from. (Uhg!) Sebas decides to hold on to the check, and puts it in his (Tonio's) desk in the office.

Vivi great recap thanks. Your foggy memory must be better than my foggy memory:P

I'm really confused about what the nefarious dealings going on with the repairs at El Molcahete could be. They keep talking about it and I keep not understanding what they are saying, are they just being extra cagey or what?
What I got was it was something with the gas line where it already blew up and Rosa is getting in their way (which makes me really worried for Rosa)

And yay! about Tonio now being unsedated (yeah I know probably not a real word)

Sneaky- I haven't seen the last two episodes yet. Happy to hear that Tonio is unsedated (we'll make it a word). I didn't catch what exactly the nefarious construction plans were on Monday. Gas lines? Now you have me really worried!

yeah I keep only seeing the first half of the last three and I haven't had time to go back and watch my recordings for the rest but things are looking up on the Antonio front mostly thanks to Sebas

Ok. Just watched the Tues and Wed episodes.

- Sebas tasks the Conatrol guys with delaying Isa. Pepe and Nelson sabotage the lock on her hotel door. When she finally gets out, Rafa is right there to offer her a ride to the hospital. He drives around in circles and fakes car troubles.
- It's enough time for Tonio to come to and speak to Sebas, who has taken Isa's night shift. Seems that all the sedation has caused a bit of amnesia. The last thing Tonio remembers is the call about dead Rafa, and he gets upset and cries all over again. Poor Tonio! Sebas explains (almost) everything to him. The most important thing he tells Tonio is to take anything he hears with calm, don't let himself get agitated, to avoid getting sedated. Isa finally arrives.
- Isa's attempt to provoke him into another crisis, by telling him he's fired from Conatrol, backfires. Sebas and Mariana explain that he's just temporarily transferred to DF while Sebas fills in for him. Tonio manages to keep calm.
- Tonio does so well, the doc decides he doesn't need to be sedated every few hours. Ema and Ed get permission to transfer him to a DF hospital in two days.

- Seems that Pedro may be hiding contraband gas in the cistern of Molcajete? Rosa vigilantly watching the repairs is making it difficult.
- Tonio tells Sebas and Mariana that Sara is the love of his life. They explain her dedication to him, and what a hard time Ema and Isa have given her. For that reason Mariana asked her to stay away. Tonio begs Mar to ask Sara to visit. Mar does, but Sara refuses, not wanting to set back his progress by causing a scene with his mother and Isa.
- Nat gets into a fight with Chelo's fans. She must make a public statement and interview with him, so that the tn doesn't fire him. She says it's the last thing they do together. Chelo has a sad.
- The two soccer teams have a game in honor of Tonio. Javi invites Mariana and dedicates his goal to her. The winning team will get their name on the rocket. Padre breaks every vow and rule to play dirty, to avenge the diarrhea oranges. The game ends in a tie, and Simon offers to put both team names on the rocket. They refuse. It comes down to a penalty kick by Nelson. He misses the goal, but the ball bounces, hits his butt accidentally, and goals into the goal!
-Rafa tells Nelson that Tonio is lucid, and after the game they will go tell him all.

That's it.

Wait, one other thing. Because of the suspicious questions Pepe was asking him (when he recorded him), Ric thinks Pepe is the mole. Pedro denies it, then just tells him straight up that Nelson is the mole. They are both suspicious of Pepe's questions, so Pedro wants Ric to keep a close eye on Pepe and Nelson. Yikes!

Another last thing. :)

- Ed gets a call from his secretary about the audit Isa's Dad ordered. His blood pressure sky rockets and he has a dizzy spell. Ema doesn't seem concerned about his health or the audit, and believes Isa won't let the audit happen, since she's holding Ric over her head. Isa's dad calls her and tells her about the audit. He'll be back in Mex Monday. Isa doesn't dissuade him from the audit, nor tell him she's pursuing Tonio (whom he hopes she's forgotten).

Vivi thanks for the Tues and Weds recap/updates, it really cleared some stuff up for me.

So the cistern huh, isn't that where they keep the water? How is that going to work?(guess we'll find out) At least Pedro isn't in a hurry so he's not going to hurt Rosa to get her out of the way.
I kinda figured Pedro was going to try to make it look like Sara was involved w/the saqueadores but wow

I so loved the butt goal :P Nelson needed a win before facing the music.

Hi Patio :-)

The episode is just about to start out here on the west coast. I'll start putting up a recap when I get home from work - in about an hour.

Denise

I got to see my recording of Thurs I can do quick bullet points

* Mariana and Javi kiss! (I know not in chronological order but so what, its cool and I'm happy about it) Even though they know she's leaving and they can't build anything together they're going to enjoy it while it lasts

# Antonio chews out Nelson and then sends for Fidel and Nelson confesses and turns himself in. Tonio is bedridden and weak but still very stern and Fidel is super mega pissed with Nelson but he will protect his family.

*Rafa and Pepe get Nacho and go to the hospital to support/defend Nelson but can't get in the room to do so.

^ Sara goes home w/her mom :(

* At the post game sulk at Simon's place Padre V says they lost because God was punishing him for cheating. Pretty much everyone agrees.
Later Padre V says he's quitting los Alados :O

# oh crap I just know I'm forgetting a bunch of stuff anybody who wants to can fill in

Thanks Denise looking forward to it :)

Thanks Sneaky for the bullet points :-)

La Vecina, Friday, 12/18 Part 1

We see el Padre Vicente crying and lamenting his team’s loss to the Artilleros in the showdown game. He should not have gotten carried away and centered his strategy on subterfuge the way he did. He should “predicar con el ejemplo” (preach by example). He tells Rodobaldo that he is stepping down as the director of the team immediately.

Rafa, Sebas, Nelson and Nacho are visiting Antonio in the hospital. The fellows bring Anto up to speed on who all knows what about whom etc..
Now outside in the corredor, the guys continue the conversation and Fidel overhears them discussing Pedro Arango and what to do about him. Fidel is incensed at Nelson for mentioning such sensitive info in a public place. All future conversation on this subject will take place in private. “Loose lips sink ships.”

Pedro is telling his partner in crime about his new plan to maximize profits. He will “perforate” the duct on other farmers’ properties that the duct crosses. He will offer them irrigation systems at a very low price and while he is installing these, he can also install a few other things, right? The beauty of the plan is, if the perforations are discovered, the owners will be responsible and not Pedro!

Slick Ric calls David in the D.F. to pump him for information about whether Anto is going to the D.F. just to recover, or will this be a permanent thing? David has just heard through “radio pasilla” (the grapevine) that Anto will come back, but he doesn’t know for how long. One thing he does know is that the plant in San Gasp will remain open, since el Ingeniero Morales will carry on with Antonio’s strategies for controlling the losses. Could Ric possibly be jealous that he was not chosen? David suggests. Ric responds in an ungentlemanly fashion.

Sara and Merce are stopped at a red light in Progreso directly in front of a loan shark business as Cheo walks out of said business. “Well, well, well,” he says, “Why aren’t you taking care of your honey? Could it be that his real girlfriend showed up, and you are suddenly ‘inconvenient’?” Sara fumes and drives away.
Cheo comments to Roque that he’s just so upset about his debt and how he’ll never get it paid off.

Titina has come to a caster of spells to get a “brebaje” that will cause Sebas to fall madly in love with her and be her love slave. “With this he’ll for sure give me the baby I’ve been needing,” she thinks to herself.

Sara and Merce are at home now. They are still discussing Cheo and his comments. Merce assures Sara that Cheo is completly wrong and that even though Antonio is going to the D.F., he will surely come back for Sara.
Rosa rings Sara. The repairs at El Molcajete are going well, she tells Sara. Everything’s under control.

Mariana enters Anto’s room at the hospital. Where’s Sara? he wants to know.
Mariana: “She thought it would be more prudent to stay away, so she went to Progreso with her Mom,” answers Mariana.
Anto: “Give me your phone,” he says.
Sara’s phone rings.
Anto: “¿Qué tienes en la cabeza? No entiendes que te amo?” (What’s going on in your head? Don’t you get that I love you?)

La Vecina, Friday Part 2

Theme song. Hmmm hmm hmm hmm ... la que me hace suspiraaar :-)

Sara gets a phone call from Antonio. Why won’t she come and see him?
No, says Sara, I’m not going to cause any conflicts in the hospital with you and your family. The most important thing is that you get better. And I need for you to be completely sure of what you feel for me. After all, I’m not giving up anything really to be with you, but you are giving up everything: your family, your former relationship and your whole way of life. We must be very sure.

Pepe and Nelson are walking along a San Gaspar street outside of the hospital discussing Nelson’s predicament.
Pepe: “Being an ‘infiltrado’ with Pedro Arango sounds so dangerous.“
Nelson: “I know, but I have to try to repair some of the damage I’ve done.”
Pedro’s goon, Anselmo, sees the pair talking. He calls Pedro to say that he thinks it’s suspicious that these guys would be at the hospital where Antonio is .
Pedro blows him off. “He’s probably just visiting. He’s got to make it look like he cares about the guy.”

Antonio tells Mariana that Sara won’t take his calls. Why won’t Sara listen to him? Can’t she see that he can’t live without her?
Mariana supports Sara’s position and tells her brother so.

Fidel, Sebas, Rafa and Nacho strategize at Rafa’s house. Nelson should feed Pedro false leeds and they should all lay low to allow Pedro to become comfortable and overconfident. Then he is bound to slip up.

Isa is watching t.v. in her hotel room. Ay! It’s time for her to go watch over Antonio again. ¡Qué flojera! A half hour more or less won’t make any difference. Let his family watch him a little longer!

Mariana is still talking with Anto in his hospital room. She wonders where Isa is.
“Why,” asks Anto, “Got someplace special to go?”
Mariana tells her brother that she is going out to dinner with Javi. You know, Buno’s friend. She says that she knows their relationship can never be more than a friendship b/c of the distance thing. But one can always use another friend, right?

Titina calls Sebas and effectively breaks up the meeting by telling Sebas that
She will have her brother’s friend let her into Sebas’ room, and she’ll stalk, I mean, wait for him there.

Rodobaldo stops by to see Bruno to tell him about the sorry emotional state that el Padre Vicente is in. Bruno pooh pooh’s the idea that Vicente would actually leave the directorship of the Alados. But fine, he’ll stop by and see the padre mañana.
Cut to el Padre Vicente. He’s on the phone with the newspaper. He wants to run an advertisement or an announcement. BIG LETTERS. Let it run every day next week in the morning edition and then again in the afternoon one. How much will that be? How much? Hmmmm. On second thought, let’s just run it in the morning edition and maybe just Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Anto takes off his oxygen tube and says, “It’s now or never. If Sara could dress as a nurse, I should be able to find something to wear around here.” He staggers out of bed, slips past his sentries and heads down the hallway.

Isa is counting the hours until her “suplicio” (torture) of watching over Antonio is over. She phones Ema to apologize for “oversleeping,” and they have a catty conversation about Isa heading off the “auditoría.”

Mariana and Javi are at a nice restaurant that belongs to a friend of Javi’s. Once seated, Mariana gets a call from Isabel who says she’s on her way to the hospital to relieve Mariana. When Mariana tells her that she left Anto alone because of a previous commitment, Isa comes unglued. “How irresponsible!” she bellows.

La Vecina, Friday Part 3

We see Antonio shopping for an outfit in the “Scrubs R Us” closet.

Isa is still ranting at Mariana. “He could take a turn for the worse at any moment!”
Mariana: “He’s in a HOSPITAL for goodness sake! If you’re so worried, get yourself down there and take care of him. And do not call me irresponsible again, “porque si a esas vamos” (if that’s where you want to go), you committed to be there at eight and it is now past nine.” (¡Ja!, Isabel.)
Javi: “So I see you are not to be messed with!”
Mari: “It’s a good thing I won’t have to put up with her much longer. My brother is sending her packing.”
Javi has prepared for some músicos to serenade Mariana, which she really likes.

“Dr.” Antonio staggers down the hallway of the hospital. An employee asks if he is alright, and he answers yes, he’s just tired from (doing) so many surgeries.

Titina accosts Sebas in the lobby of the hotel. In walks Isabel, and the fight is on.
Isa to Titi: “You’re a golfa and Sebas would have to be an idiot to trade Natalia for you!” (Recapper is with her there.)
Titi: “He is mine, and if your friend gets it, I don’t see why you don’t!” Titina literally chases Isa around the lobby. There is hair pulling.
Isa takes off and Titi does her “mareo” ploy.

Antonio has managed to get out to the street and get in a taxi. He’s going to Progreso – but we knew that, didn’t we?

In Sebas’ hotel room, Titi would like some water to drink. Sebas acquiesces.
“Are you doing this for me or for the baby?,” she asks him.
“For the baby.”
She is going about to cry, but then sends Sebas out for some ice for their water.
As soon as he is out of the room, she jumps up and spikes his drink with a good dose of the witch’s brew. Sebas comes back in the room and drinks down the potion.

Isabel gets to the hospital, enters Anto’s room, doesn’t find him and hits the panic button. She yells at the nurse to find Antonio a la de ya.

Sara answers her doorbell to see our kindly taxi driver in a state of anxiety over the “doctor” he has brought to Progreso. Sara runs to the car where she finds Antonio barely able to get out the phrase, “If the mountain won’t go to Mohammed, Mohammed will go to the mountain.” There is kissing.

Isa is having a fit and blaming everyone in sight for Anto’s disappearance.
(Who was late getting there to watch over him?)

Fidel and Rafa are laughing over the irony of the Padre losing a match of “fut” because of cheating. Rafa: “That’s what you call ‘divine justice’.”
Fidel’s phone rings. Anto is missing. Panic ensues. Everyone thinks it’s the saqueadores.

Anto is feliz to finally be with Sara.
Sara: “I’m the one who does the crazy stuff, not you.”
Anto: “What can I say? You taught me to be this way. Or do you only love me if I’m serious and bitter?”
Sara: “ I’ll love you in every version of you.”

Cue the music.

Tks so much Denise
I'm going to miss this TN.

Sneaky and Denise- Thanks so much for the wonderful recaps for Thurs and Friday.

Oh, that Tonio. So glad he got to see Sara, although what he did was crazy. Emma and Isa are going lose it.

I'm really liking how things are progressing with Javi and Mariana.

You're welcome, Vario and Vivi :-)

Yes, everyone is going to think that the saqueadores have Antonio. Of course Isa and Ema are just going to come unglued at the thought of Antonio actually seeking out Sara.

Denise

I hope Sara and Merce make Tonio phone home immediately, so that people don't think he's been kidnapped.

Denise great recap thanks
this "Ric responds in an ungentlemanly fashion." was just so perfectly succinct.

and this "We see Antonio shopping for an outfit in the “Scrubs R Us” closet." I thought it was hilarious how he can barely stand up but goes searching through the closet for the right size

oooh I hadn't even thought people would think Tonio had been kidnapped till they said it, I was just so blown away by his trip to Progresso, awww so cute and sweet and swoon worthy but woah dangerous.

Darn it! why does Pedro have to be so smart - his plans to put the blame on innocent farmers seem so plausible

Thanks for your comments,Sneaky! You're the bestest!

Denise
