Yo No Creo En Los Hombres Cap 106, Fri 12/11/2015: Maria Dolores Is Still the Martyr, Isela Does Her Doe-Eyed Shtick, Claudio Won’t Take Responsibility for His Foolishness, and Clara and Leo Learn the Facts of Life

RECAP BY JDESDENYC.  Scenes combined as usual.

Lo Pasado:
Orlando comes by the Morales’ to let Isela know her apartment is ready for her to move into. Clara growls and cries as Isela seems to get away with being shady even as she lost Leo by not revealing Ise’s shadiness.

La Abuela continues to show she is the big boss in the jail as she passes by prisoners asking her for favors—she shoos them off with a “Not now”—and she lets the warden know she knows she’s the one who let Daniel come in the prison to visit Maria Dolores.  The warden lets her know that they no longer have to give MD any “special treatment” because Claudio Bustamante ordered MD to rot while awaiting trial. The warden and La Abuela both smile at this.

Lo Nuevo:

Not in My Name
Claudio comes by Isela’s apartment and promises Isela he’ll be there for her child.  Isela balks, saying she can parent by herself, but Claudio says that their child is a shared responsibility.  Ise asks if that means Claudio will give the child his last name, legally recognizing him or her as his own.

Claudio balks, saying, “Maybe later,” and Isela tells him not to bother.  If he doesn’t want to recognize his child as his own from the goodness of his heart, she won’t have him in her child’s life.  Claudio asks her to understand his situation as a married, respected judge.  (Um, Clod, YOU should have thought about your position as a married, respected judge before you slept with a pretty, young, FERTILE thing).  Isela says, “No, you understand ME. I was born without the love and support of a father and I won’t allow the same to happen to my child.” She will not be like so many telenovela side-pieces who hide their pregnancies and/or hide away in the countryside for the duration of their pregnancies to hide that their babies’ fathers are rich powerful men.  She’ll raise the child on her own and do so differently.  She won’t treat the child like how Josefa treated her. She will be able to because this baby is the blessing she needs to grow up and move forward on her own. Clod hints that Ise is being naïve; she should accept his financial support for the child if not legal recognition of the child as his own. She tells Clod to hit the road, jack and don’t you come back, no more, no more, no more. As he’s been doing a great deal lately, he walks out of Ise’s apartment with his head down.

Isela cries about her fate until she hears a knock at the door.  “Claudio?” she intones as she opens it, but is disappointed to see it’s Orlando, who wanted to check in on her after she talked with the Clod.  Isela admits she told Clod to get to stepping, but she didn’t really mean it.  She doesn’t want a relationship with Clod (I think she’s lying); She thought telling him to leave would compel him to promise her that he would recognize the child after Alma passed away. She just wants her child to know that he or she has a father.

PSA Moment of the Night: Families of Prisoners: Don’t Reject Your Convict Family; Prisoners: Find Something Productive to do in Jail
Max, Espie and Doris are visiting MD, Corina and Nayeli in prison.  Espie says if Corina’s family wasn’t so far away they would surely visit.  Corina lets her know her family doesn’t know where she is because she ran away from home with a low-life “pelado”, who had promised to love her, but sold her into prostitution.  She finally escaped him but she is too embarrassed to let her family know she is in jail awaiting trial.  Espie says, her family should know her whereabouts than not hear from her. Max pipes up that since they couldn’t find what she supposedly stole from Dan and Jacinto, Corina will be leaving jail soon enough.  Nayeli rejoices! “See, all you needed was a good lawyer (like Max) to unblock (deatorar) your case.” Corina notes there are other women like her in prison for years for low-level crimes who have yet to face trial. Max says that it could be for administrative reasons since the lawyers don’t go sequentially in bringing up cases.  Nayeli notes that each case is different.  Nayeli and Corina take their leave and promise to take care of MD.

MD Takes Honoria’s Heat and Finds Out Max’s Life Has Exploded
Max, Espie and Doris let MD know Honoria, as Julian’s executor, wants MD’s business.  Max says they can fight it, but MD says no, she’ll give Honoria the money she wants.  She’ll just work harder to move the business forward.  Doris says all the money is already invested in the business and if anything, giving Honoria the money she wants will lead to their clients suing them for not fulfilling their orders.  MD notes that Nayeli and Corina came up with the idea of MD doing alterations and making inmate uniforms for extra money.  Espie promises to bring cloth to MD so she can do this. Max offers to help MD pay off Honoria or invest in the business again (I’m not sure which one) since MD has never accepted financial help from him.  She agrees to finally accept Max’s help and kisses Max, telling him how much she loves him. Espie and Doris leave ahead of Max and with their leave MD asks why Espie was so forlorn when MD mentioned Clara.  Max tells MD that Clara told Leo about the Clod/Ise affair and Leo went bonkers on Ise and broke up with Clara.  Clara is heartbroken; Alma kicked Clod out of the house and is asking for a divorce. Plus, Isela is pregnant.  MD, of course, commiserates with Max, telling him she’s so sorry about the hard time he’s having.  They tell each other “I love you” and passionately kiss.

La Abuela the Confessor
MD goes to La Abuela’s and says she’s so burdened by her family’s problems because she can’t fix them.  “Now you’re Mother Teresa,” La Abuela snarks. “Get them (your family) to help you!” MD says “Why? To make them worry more?” This is why she didn’t tell Max that Dan came to visit her in jail after hours or her assault in jail. La Abuela tells MD that she’s right that her family can’t help her and soon enough she’ll find out los Bustamante are the same as los Santibanez.  MD insists she trusts and believes in Max. La Abuela tells her she’ll find out soon enough about the Bustamantes’ treachery and will see that it is best her child not be born.

Mama Bear Turns Daniel’s “No” to Rehab Into a “Yes”
Jenny is begging off getting fired from her job at the rehab.  She begs them to give her another shot; she needs to be productive and working in order for her recovery to fully function.  The director speaks with the rehab head and they agree to keep Jenny on the staff but she has to become a patient at the rehab too.  As soon as they finish talking about this, in comes Ursula and Jacinto strong-arming a rabid-looking Dan, who’s literally foaming at the mouth that he doesn’t want to go to rehab.  Jenny’s supervisor hears this and tells Ursy and Jacinto to take Dan home; if doesn’t recognize he needs help, enrolling in rehab will be pointless. Jenny conveniently hides in the supervisor’s office seething and crying.

Ursula and Jacinto drag Dan into a lonely hallway of the rehab and tells him that he has to get his act together and go to rehab.  If he doesn’t she will not pay for his defense in his rape case which means he’ll be back in jail.  Dan asks why she doesn’t send him to a luxury rehab overseas (en el extranjero) instead of this “three peso” one.  Jacinto tells Dan that although the rehab is not luxurious it has the best program in Mexico; they can also help him more easily if he remains in Mexico. Ursula doesn’t want him to meet with any people in their social circle if she sends him to an overseas rehab.  She’s trying to do this in the most discrete way possible. Dan calls shenanigans saying Ma only cares about his baby because with the baby she can get money out of Ivana.  Ursula deflects, but adds that yes, Dan needs to stay in Mexico in order to ask for custody (patria potestad) of his baby. Dan agrees to stay at the rehab and Ursy and Jacinto bring back Dan to the rehab director.

Honoria Cuts the Morales Open and they Keep Bleeding Love
Straight from their jailhouse visit to MD, Espie, Doris and Max go visit Honoria and let her know MD is more than willing to give up her share of the business to her since she knows she is suffering, instead of fighting her in court.  Honoria intones that MD is only being gracious because she knows she has more to lose in a court battle. Espie says, negative.  MD and co aren’t fighting because they know with Julian they lost a great human being.  Max promptly hands Hon a check for all the earnings the business has made; Hon takes it and rips it up asking them if they think a check will exculpate them from blame in Julian’s death.  “Get out of my house!” she firmly and calmly tells them.  They leave and Fermin mean mugs Hon for her treatment of her neighbors.

(I have to say, Hon is fighting a losing battle here.  It’s as if she wants the Morales’ to be angry and fight her so she can get out all her anger and hatred on them and feel justified in the process.  Since they are not taking the bait, and they will not take the bait, all she is unsatisfied and salty.)

Clara and Leo Learn To Take the Good With the Bad
As Doris and Espie return to the Morales home and encounter an angry Clara, who is mad at her family for forcing her to lie to Leo, Doris tells Clara to chill with the hate for her mother.  With the deaths of Maleny and Julian she herself is going to look for her mother and Clara should appreciate her mom more especially since she too is sick.  Doris also tells Clara that MD is doing awful in prison; her eyes are filled with fear and she’s losing weight, even as MD tries to be strong and hold it together for the sake of Espie and Max.  Clara realizes her problems with Leo are small in comparison and goes to apologize to Espie.  Espie tells her she’s sorry for not being able to comfort her as she used to.  Doris tells Clara that she has to grow up and accept that life goes on; if Leo is for her, he’ll come back.  If not, there are other dudes.  She cites her case.  She thought Ari was her one and only until she met Orlando.

At los Bustamante Leo is chilling and listening to music.  His mom told him to forgive Clara but he tells her he’s still too angry at Clara’s lie, just as she was when she kicked out Claudio.  Later, Max comes in and Leo tells him he’s going back to his private school; Max says that's obvious since he wants to avoid Clara.  Leo says he’ll study hard at languages so he can move to another country for work after graduation.  Max tells Leo to do what he wants to graduate but don’t fool himself about not being in love with Clara.  Max drops the mic on Leo: “She was with you in the good and the bad and you shouldn’t drop her when she needs you the most.” Max adds that he’s had problems with MD but he’s in love with her still because she has more virtues than defects. Leo looks as if he’s starting to see the light.

The Clod Wants Absolution Without Accepting Fault
Clod goes to see Padre Juan and says he has to talk with someone, but in the capacity of a friend, not a priest.  Padre Juan asks if he wants to confess, Clod says no; he doesn’t believe in that.  He wants to talk to someone who won’t judge him.  (Clod has no judge friends he can talk to? A priest is gonna judge; it’s in the job description).  Anywho, Clod tells Padre Juan that Isela kicked him to the curb, too, and even though he knows his duty is to stay with Alma, when he’s with Alma he wants to be with Isela.  He has two women who want nothing to do with him.  Padre Juan tells Clod to cut the crap.  “What did you expect?” he says, “that you could keep up the charade of the perfect husband along with the ideal lover?” Padre Juan tells Clod to get out of feelings and start acting like someone with principles. “These are not the words of a friend,” Clod says.  Padre Juan tells Clod he has to act like a priest 24/7, with his priestly collar (sotana) on and off; just as he doesn’t only act like he has integrity, honesty and values only when he’s in judge’s robes (la toga).  “Besides,” Padre Juan concludes, “a friend always tells you the truth.” Clod nods in agreement and seems to be thinking deep.

Surprises Abound
Orlando calls Alma and tells her he really needs to talk with her, but not at her house.  When Alma shows up to meet him, he apologizes for lying to her because he’s not the one who wants to talk to her, but Isela.

At the rehab, a female figure in round-toed shoes comes up to Dan in the dark.  Dan is still craving some sort of drug, this time pills, and the female figure, Jenny, tells him she has something better for him than pills.

End of episode.

Thanks so much, JdesdeNYC! This was a fantastic recap. This episode wasn't big and showy like so many of the last few have been, but there were a lot of thoughtful moments and lots of interesting set up of things to come.

Your comments on Honoria were spot on. She IS trying to provoke the Morales to fight with her, so that she can feel justified in destroying them.

Jenny in rehab with the man who killed the man she loved. This could be quite interesting...

Frustrated that MD didn't tell Max all that's been happening to her, but glad she accepted his financial help for the business, finally.

Thanks J, great recap. I agree with Vivi, your analysis of Honoria's behavior is what I think she's doing too.

This show continues to surprise. What Jenny may be proposing came out of left field for me. She's angry enough to do something very drastic. A pill that would kill? Hook him up with someone who had very strong drugs? Kill him herself? Can't wait for Monday.

Orlando, you're worrying me. I've always said that I'm concerned that he has never said he loved Doris, and it seems like he loves being a white knight. Will he propose marriage to Isela for the baby's sake?

Gracias, J. Great job on what looks like a set-up episode. I am hoping for a good payoff in tomorrow's.

Leo is being foolish, but that is a privilege of youth. The director of the rehab center is right; internment would do Danny-Boy no good if he doesn't want to be cured. If Jenny knocks him off she'd be doing the world a big favor except that the law would,'t see it that way.

Honoria needs a shrink more than the rest of them right now; she is the best candidate for healing if someone can get her away from Hosefa.

We had a Hosefa-free episode for a change.

More later.

Doris is so wonderful. She told Clara exactly what she needed to hear, and I can't wait to see what comes up with when she looks for her mother.

Cathyx- Yes, Clara was given much to think about from Doris, and Leo from Max. All part of the growing and maturing process.

Awesome JDESDENYC thank you. Especially for the dialog of my favorite scene between Padre Juan and Claudio.

"Isela admits she told Clod to get to stepping, but she didn’t really mean it"

"Fermin mean mugs Hon"

I wouldn't want and angry Jenny after me.

Max tells MD what is happening on the outside knowing it can upset her but he is her "husband" and believes being honest with each other, best. MD continues to hide things from Max that are very important to him personally and as her attorney. How can he protect his "wife" and client if she will not disclose she has been attacked and at peril for more? This is who she is and while Max believes her virtues outweigh her faults this is a big one. At some point all these cuts will add up and Max will bleed out. What is frustrating, though unintentional, is Dan always knows everything (including private things between Max and MD) almost as it happens and Max is the last to know.

I'm glad Clara apologized for her behavior toward her mother but don't think she should apologize to anyone for telling the truth. How different she is from her older sister, her mothers clear favorite and carbon copy. I understand the tact of a white lie but what some of these people are hiding are whoppers.

I feel really bad for Doris, especially the pressure she has put on herself to check her jealously born of insecurity about her weight. Orlando is doing nothing to help. His help of Isela goes way beyond but he has always been a fool for her and nothing has changed. The fool may believe Isela sincere and possibly ask for Alma's forgiveness but what Isela really wants is information and a way to blame Claudio for it all if he's guilty of causing or covering Marta's death, or unwilling to have a public relationship.

If Isela wanted to have a real talk with someone she should call Max and tell him every nasty thing she'd done.

That would mean admitting she sold MD out right down the line. I don't know if I buy her conscience yet.

JdesdeNYC--You have set things up perfectly for tomorrow night. Felicitaciones on a remarkable recap for a not-much-happening episode. Done with style and wit. Still there was a depth to it that was important to keep pushing this tn forward to its righteous end (or not).

cathyx--Please, oh, please--we can't lose Orlando to his white knight rescue of a wronged lady. You have a point, though. And no, we've never *heard* him tell Doris he loves her, but he's darn well shown it and has repeatedly asked her to give him time. He doesn't want to hurt her in the end. But he is dragging his feet.

J & Vivi--I hadn't absorbed Honoria's actions as inviting a quarrel to justify her actions toward the Morales. I mostly ignore her as an hysterical woman, but you are right. It certainly explains her emotional state.

tofie--Have you considered MD not telling Max everything that has transpired against her in prison as the Law of the Bully? Isn't this similar to what might happen to a school child being bullied on the playground (and nowadays through social media) if he or she goes to a parent or teacher and tells (despite all the public urgings that telling is the correct action?) It usually turns out that when a parent or teacher interferes, it just makes it worse for the child who is being picked on.

In MD's case, she has no one inside she can *runtelldat* to anyone who could eliminate the cruelties without ramifications. The warden, guards and other prisoners would all be against a rat-fink. She knows that telling Max (I'm reading this into her personality--she may not know or even think about it) will only lead to his trying to run interference and make things worse for her.

Unfortunately, now MD's getting mixed signals from Abuela toward the Bustamantes. I wonder why she lumped Max in with them as she warned MD about them. She only knows about the Clod's involvement in some cases--unless she believes in like-father-like-son. Ah well, it's just something else to want an explanation for.

Poor thing, MD is still trying to do good to others despite her circumstances. Abue told her she needs to be concentrating on her situation. The way I see it though, MD is the type of person who needs to stay busy. I can see her wanting to occupy her time and what better way than to do what she knows how to do best. Can't you see all the prisoners and detainees wearing stylishly designed, runway-worthy outfits with lots of buttons, ruffles, bows and zippers in dry-clean-only fabrics for daytime and evening wear?

IMHO this novela is now going to again live up to its name "Yo no creo en los hombres".

I think (just a guess) that the wind is blowing in this direction. ~~~~~~~~~

Max will be unable to free MD before she gives birth due to Claudio's machinations.

MD will give birth in prison and Danny-boy and Ursula will be awarded the baby which they will then give to Ivana.

MD will hate Max and

ella no vay a creer en los hombres nunca más hasta "El Fin"

My cousin, here for the holidays wanted me to post a comment for her but it seems to have dissappeared. I'm sorry if you did read it already.

I'm new to Caray but wanted to comment for the first time.

This site is awesome.!!!! Not only for English-speaking novela watchers, but also Spanish-speaking ones. This recap and the others I have read are a true testament to people who are willing to give of themselves for the benefit of others. Thank you♡♡

Based on my schedule, I rotate sometimes between reading the recap and watching the novela. But always try to go back and catch the episodes I've missed.

I think the writers made one big mistake about MD and Max trying to find Corina.

When Corina first called MD from jail she only gave her first name.

But here is the mistake I think they made:

*After the cutoff phone call, MD and Adrian go to the police station to get Corina out.
*Adrian gives the desk clerk Corina's name and is told by the desk clerk that she, Corina, has already been transferred to the reclusorio.

Therefore*, Adrian had to have had Corina's full name otherwise the jail clerk could not have given him that information.

So I don't understand the big "hunt" by MD and Max for Corina unless she was lost in the system, but they specifically state that they didn't have her last name.

Is this telenovela being edited too much ??

Thank you for allowing me to comment and ask this question.

Lourdes

MD is an attractive but otherwise unexceptional you woman. Yet somehow she is the central obsession in the lives of dozens of other people. All the characters are in her orbit.

There was no editing in this series that I can detect but we are getting surprises here and there.

Thanks for the love, guys. Tofie, my favorite scene of the ep was the same as yours, Padre Juan telling Clod to get over himself and act like someone with principles. When he turnnhosnhead to look at him and told him, "What did you expect, Claudio?", I thought he kept it so real. He just laid it out plain. You are in this situation because of hypocrisy and lack of self-control. I loved the scene because Alejandro Camacho seemed to evolve as the conversation went further along. Padre Juan gave him something to think about and you saw he was thinking. Alex Camacho has always excelled in these hypocritical businessmen/masters of the universe roles, and he's one of the main reasons I signed up to watch and recap this. He's great in Cuna de Lobos and even better in Imperio de Cristal.

I don't get Claudio. Go be with your wife; she's dying in three to six months. How hard can it be to stay faithful to her for that time if he had been faithful to her up until he met Isela.

Anita, I agree with you about MD not being able to runteldat to anyone without being harmed. Besides, Nayeli and Corina are firmly on her side and she needs the prison pop calm so she can do her sewing of the prisoners' uniforms and for her business. I do think she should tell Max about Dan coming to visit her, though. That is important in the custody battle to come, to show Dan harrassing her, and Max could handle it without getting the prison involved.

Thanks for this recap. This episode was moving in slowmotion.
That judge is a piece of work. He still thinks hes better than anybody else. His reputation
And his position is at stake. He didn't give a
Damn about his position when he was on isela. I really want to hear his reason for what he is doing to MD. Thats just plain evil.
Hes gonna pay for that big time. I agree with
Alma, leo should forgive clara. Shes not the
Liar, his dad is. Clara got drown into this mess just like he did. Hes to angry to see it
Right now. I like what max told leo about his
Feeling for md." She has more virtues than
Defects". Those defects are what got her in
Prison, and what danny did. This girl was picked out to be picked on. These people are
Exhausting. Want to see what jenny's gonna do to dope boy. This should be good.

Thanks again JDESDENYC.

The Abuela's power comes by isolating those inside from anyone on the outside. Like any petty tyrant, gang or cult she controls by "us and them". MD is helping her do just that by not telling Max or her mother. The Abuela knows MD doesn't trust Max and why she planted the seed he is just like all of "them".

The Abuela's plan is flawed however, she assumes a lengthy prison stay is a given. The Santibanez want the child MD carries safe and healthy, MD has assured they have unfettered access to her in prison and Dan put an easy out on the table for MD already. Since MD doesn't believe Max can help her or that her fate is sealed and her child at risk she can always give Dan a call and end this thing.

The flaw in your argument is that MD knows she can't trust Danny-Boy. That was why she rejected his latest overture. If she makes a deal with that devil she will never be rid of him for the rest of her life... or his if Ursula decides to kill him down the road. She does not know that Ursula is responsible for Maleny's suicide and would likely kill her once the baby is born.

Max doesn't know yet about that motive. He needs to have a long talk with Ivana, who would need to reveal more about that family of vipers.

Ridiculous as Daniels offer is she believes there is no way to stop Dan and his mother. She doesn't have to trust Dan on a personal level but she already trust in his ability to do as he wishes. I get it because Dan has had his way with her. If Abuela persist in killing her child and MD is willing to do anything to protect it, except include Max, the sure out is Dan.

She has given up. To fight them she needs to pursue every option starting with Max not using him as her last. Fatalistically, she has more faith in Usurla and Dan's ability than in Max's ability to protect her. It's odd because she offers his help to anyone that needs it but doesn't believe it applies to her.

MD has not learned by her mistakes. Her tactic of silence to stop Dan does not work yet she persist.

Abuela has nothing to do with Maria Dolores not telling Max or her mother about her mistreatment. She wouldn't have told them anyway.

If Clara were in jail, she would've told Leo or her mother about what's going on. It's Maria Dolores' MO not to tell Max the important things to help her situation out.

Ivana knows she can call Max up at any time and tell him all about Ursula and her plans but that would mean incriminating herself and not getting Maria Dolores' baby for herself.

Until Ivana decides to do the right thing and either tell the police or tell Max ALL of what the Santibanez' are planning, talking with Ivana is a waste of time. She told the Santibanez gang she was telling the police about them several weeks ago and has made ZERO moves to do so. Again, telling the police/Max will mean telling on herself/not getting the baby.

Abuela is working on the assumption that MD will think Max=Claudio when she finds out about Claudio insuring MD remains behind bars. I'd like to know what his motive is for keeping MD behind bars. Perhaps he thinks Max will tire of Maria Dolores and her drama and just leave her in jail to fend for herself? I was thinking maybe he was trying to keep her in jail for her own protection against Dan & Em but now I'm not so sure. He promises Alma he will try to get MD out of jail quickly so she can see them married before she dies, then immediately calls in favors to keep MD in jail indefinitely?

Orlando probably would propose to Isela so the baby can grow up with a father. That's why I didn't like Esperanza & Em expecting Orlando to help with Isela & for Doris to accept it like a good girl.

Isela, Claudio will NEVER recognize your child as his and you know this! He will slide you some money once a month and expect some nookie favors but go out in public and say "This kid is mine"..."This kid is a Bustamante"....NEVER.

MD believes her best option out of the mess is convincing Abuela she is wrong in how she handles pregnancy from rape. While noble, MD doesn't have the luxury of being wrong. She doesn't know Abuela but she should know Abuela is committed to her outcome for she has been doing it for years and promised the same to MD. Even if MD is right and makes Abuela a raving MD fan that does not release her from jail nor prohibit Usurla from taking the child, that would come from the legal process and just as Claudio used a procedural loophole to release Dan, Max may as well if not an outright exoneration. What Max needs is an MD not under duress and influenced by people wishing her harm. Right now Max only knows she doesn't bathe much, the food is bad, the floor hard but she's got two cell mates trying to make things as comfy as possible and showing her the ropes. What I hope is, Max gets Corina out and Corina tells him exactly what is happening including rumor Claudio wants her to stay put.

Doris has accepted this grudgingly because none of them know that Isela sold MD down the river. The only two people who know this are Hosefa and Ursula (not sure about DB). Maybe Ivana, if she can figure it out. When Doris finds out hell's fury will be kid stuff compared to hers and Clara's.

Esperanza will ultimately make excuses for Isela, but that will be after the stress lands her in the hospital. MD should cut Isela dead once she's out of the pen.

I agree that Claudio will not recognize Isela's child if that information normally becomes public. The best solution would be for her to either have an abortion (yeah, I know that will probably not happen anytime soon in a Televisa production) or for her to give up all parental rights to the child and it be adopted by MD and Max, who will by then have cut his father. That puts this insane parental ID issue into the next generation.

UA--I don't think Isela would give up the child for adoption. Abortion would be out of the question for her as well as for Televisa. Only an accident could separate her from the baby. In this situation, she's very much like MD. It doesn't matter where the baby came from, it's hers now.

It is known annectodally that young unwed mothers who have been used or abused want to keep the child--something that belongs solely to them (or so we have been led to believe).

Thanks, JdesdeNYC. My favorite lines: As he’s [Clod] been doing a great deal lately, he walks out of Ise’s apartment with his head down. and They leave and Fermin mean mugs Hon for her treatment of her neighbors.

Claudio makes no sense. Since everybody knows about the affair and will know about the baby, what is the point of making MD stay in prison longer? Since Claudio investigated Marta’s murder in the past, he knows the prison authorities are shady. Does he not give a thought that they might do the same thing to MD that they did to Marta?

Orlando is turning me off. First, his sex issues -- what assurance does Doris have that he'll come through even if she marries him? Now, he’s setting Alma up to meet Isela. For pete sake’s, let Isela handle her own business.

No idea what Jenny is planning, but I'm uneasy with her dealing alone with DannyBoy because she has come to hate MD.

Jenny has resented MD for a long time already but she is also close to Honoria, who could poison her further. Both of them were seriously delusional about Julian.

I'm starting to agree about Orlando. The writers really threw us a curve ball with that. Doris should definitely test-drive before purchase here.

I'm not sure about Claudio either anymore. I thought he wanted MD away from where Danny-Boy and Mama Bear could bother her but that hasn't worked. He doesn't know that yet, though. And when Max finds out that he did this he will lose Max forever when Alma dies.

Niecie--Orlando, I agree, is meddling too much, but Isela believed Alma would refuse to see her and she didn't want to go to the Bustamante house to try to see her there. She's the one that asked Orlando to make the call and have Alma come to Ari's former apartment.

UA--But surely the Clod knows all about the abortion mill inside the prison from his investigation of Marta's death. Maybe he doesn't want a Santibanez escuincle for a grandchild being raised by Max and MD.

That's possible. I hope it doesn't take till the last episode for us to find out.

Claudio is well aware what goes on inside, he investigated the rash of prison murders. At least he didn't cover his tracks very well and somehow the warden and now Abuela knows he wants MD to rot. I'm with the rest of you and cannot figure why but it has to be related to Isela or he believes Ursula would out him and ruin his professional reputation if MD was released. He knows Max may not respect him as a father nor Alma respect him as a husband but neither would damage his reputation with a public disclosure. Guess Claudio is in damage control mode. Throwing MD to the wolves is nothing compared to releasing a man that almost killed his son.

MD does nothing but make mistakes. She has a problem, she trys to handle It herself &
It turns out worse. I have gotten pissed at her
During time I've watched this show. She don't want to he a burden to anyone, but then
She becomes one anyway. Her poor ol mother is about dead worrying about her. And max Bless his heart if he didn't love her do much he'd have Walked. But he said It best "shes got more virtues than defects. Yall that Is love at its Best. I hope she really does appreciates it.
Clods reputation ain't gonna amount to hill of
Sh*t if someone dies because he wants to
Protect his useless rep. He is such a selfish old bastard.

And now that Alma found out about his little side piece he did that for nothing. It would not surprise me if he offs himself at the end.

Attention

This weekend we will be in countdown to the finale. I will post the Karmageddon discussion on Thursday or Friday if my Windows 10 upgrade (which will launch on Wednesday) doesn't screw up my files. That one is being updated to the minute because of how this series works.

We know the following:

Ursula threatened to ruin Clod's professional reputation if he didn't clean up Maleny's suicide.

Clod cleaned up Maleny's suicide.

Clod vowed to bring down Ursula where it hurts.

Alma asked Clod to get MD released from jail before she dies so she can see Max/MD married.

Clod immediately called a judicial friend to have MD's hearing put off indefinitely.

Initially I thought Clod wanted MD kept in jail to protect her from the Santibanez' but he and Max could easily protect MD. They could move MD, Espy & Clara into the mansion and hire guards.

I think Clod wants MD to die in jail. Maria Dolores dying would accomplish the following:

1) Max won't have to marry a vecindad girl;

2) It frees Clod from fulfilling his promise to Alma;

3) It breaks the tie between the Santibanez' and his family. No Maria Dolores, no reason for Dan/Ursula to keep coming after Max.

4) If Ursula tried to sully his reputation he could always say he is clean, untouchable, everyone has to face their day in court but Alas, poor Maria Dolores died first. He is so fresh & so clean, he didn't even use his considerable influence to get his son's fiancee out of jail. (Remember, he was going to leave Max in jail to teach him a lesson)

I think Clod is hoping Abuela/Warden take care of the inconvenient problem of Maria Dolores for him.

The person who could put an end to all of this TODAY is Ivana, but she won't.

Makes me wonder who this banker is and what his connection to Clod is. Perhaps Clod left Marta in that prison to get killed to cover up for Mr. Banker, too. (But investigated to make himself look clean)

What great questions and theories! And you know what? The fact that we have NO idea what the fate of some of these characters will be, and what they are planning, shows how unpredictable and interesting this dark tale is.

I think you guys are being too harsh on Orlando. He's treating Doris the same as he treated Isela by not forcing sex on her. Remember when they were in her nana's pueblo he proposed marriage and she was the one who said no. Furthermore, in Friday's ep Orly told Isela to leave Clod alone because their love wasn't pure and good like the one he had for her. He emphasized that the love is past. I don't see himnflirting with Isela or trying to make Doris jealous. Orly, like everyone in the barrio and Alma, treats Ise like a lost puppy deserving of their sympathy so they put up with her mistakes. He isn't helping her because he isn't over her, he's doing it because he sees Isela as a victim and not an archmanipulator.

Not a spoiler (too bad I can't watch ahead), just a guess. I think Ivana will put her claws into Max, and they will hook up. It seems like they're already setting this up. Then MD will lose all faith in Max. Just hope she doesn't turn to Dan.
But I do think for now that she trusts Max and Abuela's warning about Los Bustamantes is the set up for MD disillusionment.

Tofie,
I love how you laid out all the facts. But I don't remember a Televisa novela where the main female protagonist was killed off before the end of the show.

I hope we aren't kept in the dark, until the very end, to find out Claudio's motive for wanting MD in jail. To me, this is the biggest question of the novela.

Funny that we are going to have 2 babies. What if los Bustamantes get the wrong one (by mistake) ??

I forgot to say what a great bang up recap. Very superb in every way.

Like others, I love how you put the very essence of Claudio's conversation with the Padre in the recap.

What is Ivana up to, marry Gerry? Is that possible? I think Susana will put the brakes to that.
