Just in case anyone happened to miss the announcement made on the old Telemundo page earlier today and again at the start of the present page, here's what you missed:

"The NEW & IMPROVED Telemundo page is now brought to you twice a week in order to provide seamless coverage. No more lost comments! Just remember to look for the new page. We'll start off each week on Mondays at 3PM and then the "Weekend Edition" will appear on Thursdays at 8PM."

Thanks, LXV, for your invaluable work to make this happen.

I think "Celia" went to últimos capítulos last Friday.

thanks for the second page! I think one of the reasons Jane let us hang around is because we are trouble free, but it seemed like after 5 days when the page went into moderation only she could make our posts appear, so it's nice that you guys found a solution so we aren't having her do this.

GENERAL

BLOG MOM,JANE ....

FATMAGUL
HIGHLIGHTS FROM 1-11-16 to 1-15-16

Since I have time, a few highlights from last week to make today's ep understanable.

After Kerim met up with Vural and lied to Fatma about it, which led Fatma and the entire family to call him a fool and a half, he decides the only way to regain Fatma's trust is report the rape, including his failure to provide aid to Fatma, to the authorities. After the intial investigation, Kerim's free, since the judge says he has helped the investigation; the judge argues the contrary for Selim and Erdogan: they'll stay in jail so as not impede the investigation. Fatma's family ends up back in the pueblo since lawyer Kadir and the district attorney have to investigate from the scene of the crime.

Vural is in a coma. After Kerim messes up with Fatma, Kerim blames Vural who in turns goes to Casa Ilgaz/Kentençi and confesses to Fatma that Kerim didn't rape her and he's sorry he raped her. Vural then promptly drives off and purposefully crashes in a wall to kill himself.

Our lovebirds reiterate their love in their own way in the pueblo. Kerim says he doesn't care if he goes to jail for his part in the rape, he just doesn't want Fatms to divorce him if he goes to jail. Fatma says she's angry at herself that she needed her enemy Vural to confirm the truth she already knew, that Kerim didn't rape her. She also says the only home that she feels is her own is the one they have in Istanbul.

Musta tries to kill Kerim by using a kidnapped Fatma as bait after he forcefully kisses Fatma who immediately upchucks at his touch which makes him realize Fatma doesn't love him any more. Kerim runs to Fatma's rescue, gets shot in the arm, but wins the day after Fatma verbally and physically protects Kerim from Mustafa and tells Mustafa to leave her and Kerim alone since everyone has chosen their own path. Kerim holds Fatma's hand after she says this and they walk off into the sunset leaving Musta in their wake.

FATMAGUL:

JdesdeNYC- There are recaps for all of last week on the last post.

FATMAGUL:

Vivi, I totally did not see your recaps even though I check the feed every day.
I apologize for having stepped on your toes.

I'll just post today's recap.

FATMAGUL

Que Culpa Tiene Fatmagul? Mon Jan 18, 2016

PART I of II

Fatma and family return to Istanbul. Kerim is googly-eyed in love since Fatma literally walked off with him in the sunset after Mustafa tried to kill him. Despite Kadir's and Omer's advice, they are Fatma and Kerim's lawyers respectively, Kerim and Fatma decline to prosecute Musta but get an order of protection instead. Musta is hanging around the docks, salty, self-loathing and dangerous, becoming one with the garbage heap he says to Munir, since he finally realizes Fatma no longer loves him. Munir tells him the best revenge is to testify on the Yasaran boys' behalf that Fatma's rape allegation is false.

Ebe Nine receives another letter from Kerim's father and reads it, along with Fatma, and hides it away, instead of giving it to Kerim, who'll just rip it up anyway, she says, justifying her snooping.

Mustafa takes Munir's advice and blatantly lies on Fatmagul concerning the events around the rape to the district attorney. He says Kerim raped Fatma after seducing her while he was away fishing with the promise of moving to Istanbul. She resisted sleeping with him on the night of the Selim-Meltem engagement party, so he raped her. Kerim got los Yasaran involved because he was scared Mustafa would kill him. He says Kerim had seduced other girls before and knew los Yasaran and los Namli would help him get out of trouble which they did by arranging the marriage and giving him money. "How do you know all this information?", the district attorney asks. Mustafa says he learned all this information from Mukaddes, who told him all about Fatma's cheating ways and Kerim's rapist ways. (As awful as Mukaddes is, Mustafa did Mukaddes dirty, here.)

Fatma's terrible, no-good, very bad day at work her first day back in Istanbul contines apace. She burns food in the kitchen and Meltem comes in the restaurant demanding Fatma tell her the truth. Fatma ends up spilling food on a lunching customer and running out the restaurant after Meltem grabs her arm demanding. the truth she has told her 50-11 times already. Later, it's obvious the restaurant fires Fatmagul since Emre brings her bag home with half her paycheck. For her trouble, Meltem gives Fatma Selim's ring, which fell from him at the rape scene, telling Fatma she believes and supports her and use the ring as evidence. However, when Fatma and co discuss with Kadir and Omer if the ring can be used as evidence, they say no. They can't prove the ring was at the scene and Meltem doesn't want it known she gave Fatma the ring.

Mustafa finally convinces Asu to abort their baby. He tells her they have no response to tell a child about her past and he can't be loving to anyone while he hates himself so much. Asu shouldn't get her hopes up that they become a family, they are just two people on a trip and they don't know where they'll end up.

FATMAGUL
PART II of II

The rape scandal hits the paper and the press is hounding Los Yasaran, Los Namli and Los Algoaz (Meltem's family). Munir and Resat are screaming into their cell phones at the hounding journalists for being incompetent slanderers while Turaner, Meltem's dad, blames Meltem for getting his name involved in a scandal so close to his reelection since she insisted in hurrying up and marrying Selim Yasaran after he suggested she slow down and wait. He follows his own advice and tells her he won't push through Meltem's and Selim's divorce now since it will make it look like they are admitting Selim is guilty and he can't have that as his election race heats up.

Fatma has her first visit with the therapist. She starts sobbing after she says her name, age and the therapist asks her if she is married. She's mad at herself for having trusted Mustafa is the past is all we hear now.

Mukaddes gets Kerim's father's letter from under Ebe Nine's mattress and responds to it, after reading where the elder Ilgaz says "everything I have is yours."

Perihan Yasaran (Selim's mother) tries to buy off Mukaddes and gets rejected. All the evidence is on their side now, says Mukaddes; even Meltem gave them back Selim's ring and is on their side, she reveals.

Vural, after being called all types of weak and chicken by Resat, decides to lie to the district attorney protect his hide and that of Los Yasaran. He tells the same story as the others. There was no rape but by Kerim who called his rich friends to rescue him from Mustafa's wrath and a rape case.

After her first visit with the therapist, Fatma tells Ebe Nine she feels tired as if she'd been beaten up but she's glad she went because she said things she'd been hiding from herself. As they talk, Ebe Nine suggests they go to the hair dresser and Fatma get a new dress since she has a dinner party to attend that evening with Kerim and his work mates.

Fatma gets the haircut and dress and goes out first on a quiet date with Kerim, a cruise of the city. Next they go to the dinner party hosted by Kerim's boss, who happens to be his ex, Kristen. Kristen comments how pretty Fatma is and looks jealous of her.

Fatma and Kerim bond at the work dinner by singing Fatma's father's favorite song, by the end of which Kerim has his arm comfortably around Fatma's shoulder.

END OF CHAPTER

Celia and General

Deb, you're right, Celia is in últimos capítulos. Thanks for pointing that out.

And yes, I think it helped that the proposal we made to Jane worked not just to our advantage but also to hers. Having a second page meant that at no point during the week would postings on the Telemundo page be more than five days old, and thus Jane wouldn't have to monitor the page and OK the postings. A win-win situation.

Bajo

Did anyone else notice what looked very much like a wedding band on the ring finger of Rodrigo's left hand? In tonight's episode, when Greicy gave him the baby to hold, there were two times when the camera briefly showed his hand, and both times it looked to me as if he was wearing a band of some sort. I was surprised, because I don't think he and Greicy ever got married.

By the way, I loved that scene between him and Greicy!

Bajo. Excellent idea of 2 Telemundo sites a week, Juanita and LXV! Rodrigo and Greicy aren't formally married, but I believe the actor playing R. got married fairly recently and maybe he forgot to take off his ring. The other possibility is that like Adela and Carlos, they solemnized their relationship at some point with a ring or 2--In Carlos' case only one for Adela, but Rodrigo and Adela could have exchanged rings at some point when their relationship was more "romantic" than it is now.

Bajo. I mean Rodrigo and Greicy!

BAJO EL MISMO CIELO – Parte 1 de 3

Carlos has a shrewd plan. He asks Luis to wait near the entrance. He thinks the place is probably full of gangbangers, and he wants Luis alive.

The baby has otitis (ear infection). Felicia actually screwed herself by not believing the young female doctor who told her the same thing. But she believes the male doctor who tells her the same thing. If she’d taken the first diagnosis, she’d have been out of there a long time ago.

Carlos comes into the examination room all smiles. He shakes hands with the doctor and asks if his “daughter” is all right.

Adela and Paulina are still doing research hoping to find clues about Colmillo.

María talks with her kids. Lupita is the same brat she was when she was mean to little Alex. She says she and her brother aren’t going to live with “that gringo” and that her mother is the bad one for having left them.

Juana and Santiago come to tell Ramona that the paperwork is being processed to bring Camila, Juana’s daughter, to the US.

Nick has come to tell Sharon that he got one of those Dreamers scholarships to college, and that his father is behind him on his studying. He’s so excited. And he kisses Sharon.

With the kindly doctor still in the room, Carlos smoothly asks the doctor if he can hold her. Felicia reluctantly hands over the baby. The minute the doctor leaves the room she hisses: “Give me back my baby!” Carlos: “You know perfectly well that this baby isn’t yours. You stole her. And I’m going to take her.”

She tells him she’s with Colmillo now, and his guys are there in the hospital. All she has to do is call them. Carlos: “Are you going to do to me what you did to your husband??” He tells her he knows why she went to Colmillo; the garbage always ends up with the garbage. He also tells her the place is full of security cameras, and the cops will be on her in a minute. He tells her that, because of the years they had together, he’s going to let her escape.

María brings Pedro and Lupita to stay with Chabela. She tells Chabela she doesn’t want them with their father because of how much he’s drinking.

Felicia tells Carlos she already told EC whose baby this is and that she’s now his woman. She goes on to say that everything she did was because she loved him. He tells her she doesn’t know what love is. She follows him down the hall insisting he hand over the baby. He tells her she has everything to lose by making a scene. They registered him as the baby’s father.

BAJO EL MISMO CIELO – Parte 2 de 3

Carlos hurries away and gives the baby to Luis and insists he go out the back way. He takes Anita’s blanket and rolls it up looking like the baby’s inside. He hurries out the front entrance. He’s almost to his truck when the gangbangers start firing at him. Felicia runs up, yelling at them not to shoot because he has the baby. Feli takes hold of the blanket and discovers there’s no baby inside.

They drag Carlos off to Colmillo’s McMansion. They are beating him, but he doesn’t say anything. Felicia wants to know who was in the hospital with him: Gracie? Rodrigo? “Or was it Adela?” She gets sidetracked by her jealousy, ragging on Adela. Carlos: Ya quisieras ser la mitad de mujer que es Adela. (You wish you were half the woman Adela is!) Not surprisingly this does not go over well. She tells them to torture him more.

Luis tries to call his father and Rod. Neither one answers. Rod is yelling at the gang guys for not having found his daughter. One of them smarts off, and Rod threatens to kill him.

Paulina manages to find evidence online that Suárez has been buying very expensive things.

Luis has brought the baby to the magazine office. He wants her help. Luis explains what Carlos did at the hospital to Adela. He says that his father didn’t want Rodrigo and the gang guys coming there with the baby in the line of fire. Adela tells him to take the baby to Rodrigo’s house where her mother is and a ton of guards. But she tells him not to tell Rodrigo about what happened to Carlos.

María has come home to Jacob and tells him what happened with the children. He comforts her and says he’ll talk to them.

Rodolfo is drunk as a skunk perched on some wall atop what looks like a parking structure.. Sadly, he doesn’t fall over the edge and crack open like Humpty Dumpty. He has called Santiago so as to have someone to whine to. He still isn’t admitting the slightest bit of blame for his wife having left him.

At Rodrigo’s house, one of the bangers tells Lourdes that Luis has arrived with a baby. He hands Anita to Lourdes: “Señora, es su nieta.” Lourdes is overjoyed, saying she only had a glance at her when she tried to take her from Felicia before. She shouts out for Gracie who rushes in. “Es mi hija!” We see a tender scene with Lourdes and Gracie cooing over Anita.

BAJO EL MISMO CIELO – Parte 3 de 3

Adela has come to the police station to see Cristóbal. He tells her he misplaced trust in one of his agents, Suárez. Adela figures out that Suárez was the one who told Colmillo where she and Erick would be flying from. Cristóbal admits that EC probably killed Erick and that Rodrigo is innocent.

Felicia wants Jay to look for the baby at Rodrigo’s. He tells her it’s too dangerous.

Luis tells Gracie to call Rodrigo, but not to tell him the baby is here.

At the police station someone brings Cristóbal a file that shows a truck shot up. Adela grabs the file. “Carlos’ truck?” Later Adela and Cristóbal come to Carlos’ house and find that someone has tossed it. Adela tells him that Carlos rescued Anita at the hospital where Felicia had taken her. She tells him that his sister is an accomplice of Colmillo. When he doesn’t believe her, she tells him about Luis seeing them together at the cemetery and Felicia obviously was not forced to be with him.

Rodrigo comes home and is surprised to find Luis there. Luis tells him to go upstairs with Gracie.

He enters the room and sees the baby. Gracie to Anita: “Look, here’s papá". Rod gets SUCH a look of joy on his face. He holds the baby, saying she has his mother’s eyes. He tells Gracie that, since his mother died, he’s had like a hole in his chest. But now that he’s holding his daughter, he’s happy. He thanks Gracie for giving him a daughter.

Felicia wants to take the gang and go get Anita. But Jay tells her that’s not happening. He had orders from EC to protect her. He forbids her to go.

Bajo

wow these shows pack a punch,
novelera, are there any tears on your keyboard,
and what a wonderful recap!

maybe Carlos should have stayed in the hospital in front of one of those cameras.

Luis, the good son
Maria, the perfect but thankless mother
Rodrigo, the proud father
Lourdes, the mother-in-law
Greicy, who sees things better than those without glasses
Carlos the saint
Adela, just too smart, but too quiet
Yei, the lost soul
Felicia has never harmed anyone, ask her
Cristobal, broken
Rudolfo, out of alcohol, maybe one last drink
Paulina, blonde, or not
Chebela, wise beyond reason

FATMAGUL:

No worries, JdesdeNYC. So much happened last week, that a refresher is totally helpful. Just didn't want you to do extra work when the recaps were already available. It's so odd that you weren't able to see them.

Wonderful recap of Monday. I should just stop being surprised by how low Mustafa can sink. There is apparently no bottom. Asu should just get far away from him. Seriously, I think prostitution might have been better for her self esteem than being Mustafa's novia or whatever she is.

It's funny to me how all these rich people who supposedly have a conscience (Perihan, Vural, Turaner) all drop their values as soon as push comes to shove. Then they'll do anything to cover their own butts. Vural IS a coward. But not because he's feeling guilty and suicidal-- but because he's too scared to tell the police the truth and turn his back on his rich family and buddies. All of these folks should just get off their moral high horse and accepts they're as bad as the rest. Even Meltem is starting to get on my nerves, since she always wimps out. Why harass Fatma? Why try to enlist Mustafa? She can take her revenge on the Yasaran into her own hands. She doesn't have to go along with her father. But she's still too much of a wimp.

The dinner party and singing was beautiful. Kerim and Fatmagul looked like a happy couple, and Kristen took note. Back off, chica!

Fatmagul.

The nerve of Muka to try to take posession of the ring once again. I was so glad the lawyer stopped her. I hope he understands how corrupt her soul truly is. Mustafa boggles my mind. He knows who the guilty are and yet he tries to kill Kerim. If he is not going to go after the rich boys then he should leave Kerim alone as well. Fatma is not going back to him even if Kerim is dead. Got to give a hand to Ebe. She is so wise. Smart of her to drop in on Kerims work place to check out Kristen and then dress Fatma for the party. Kerim was so excited for his day out with his girl. Too cute.

Bajo. Yet another excellent recap, novelera! It's one of the things I will miss most when Bajo ends! I hadn't realized that Rudolfo and Santiago knew each other apart from that confrontation at the Sanders', but I did miss a couple of episodes when I was traveling. Since this is telenovela-land, what do you want to bet that Paulina is not suffering from stomach flu or ate something that disagreed with her? Her child will be some consolation to Erick's parents, who lost such a decent son. And torture porn! Oh no!

Fatmagul

J thanks for the great recap, loved your comment about Meltem being told the truth 50-11times. I like Meltem, but like the others the lure of the rich life prohibit them from doing what is right. She is old enough to terminate her marriage to a slime with or without her father. Wow, these people are something now they are going to place the rape on Kerim solely. I think Fatma will work with him to prove otherwise and this should make them become closer. Funny, but it seems that just about everyone in this story, except the police, know that Ergodan, Selim and Vural raped Fatma. Mustafa is the lowest. I agree with Vivi, Asu should get to stepping. Did not like the look that Kristen was giving Fatma. Must watch tv continues.

Bajo

What a magnificent recap, novelera! For me, the high point of the episode was the scene between Rodrigo and Greicy, when she hands the baby to "papá." I'm glad you included what he had said about the baby repairing the hole in his chest, and his thanking Greicy. But at least as moving as what he said were all his marvellous facial expressions.

I was hoping that Humpty Dumpty would indeed fall off the wall. I suppose the writers have to keep him alive for his children. Were he to die, even if he tried to cross the street while drunk and was struck and killed, the children (especially perra-in-training Lupita) would very likely blame Maria for driving him to drink. Perhaps he could beat the kids while drunk...perhaps that might alienate them? I dunno.

Wow, Felicia sure showed her true ugly colors when she told Yei et al. to hang and torture him. I try to imagine an appropriate fate for her, but so far I've been unsuccessful.

Bajo

deb, I loved your characterization of each of the principals!

Bajo

SpanProf, as soon as Paulina seemed indisposed, I remembered my Telenovela Medical Training and, like you, diagnosed pregnancy. Especially now that Paulina seems to be cooperating with Adela and not nasty, it seems appropriate that she should have Erick's baby, and that Erick's mother should have a nieto/a. (Erick's father, on the other hand....)

Bajo

I'll try to have a recap of tonight's episode posted some time tomorrow morning. It will probably be my last Bajo recap. Next Tuesday Eva starts...I'm not at all sure what I want to do about that.

Bajo. Yep, Juanita, Felicia has definitely now pasado la raya, and the only possible ending for her is either death or a very long prison sentence. And how long was María away from the kids? I think it was 1 day, after a particularly nasty confrontation with Rudolfo. Apart from Rudolfo's breakfast, I believe they had to prepare exactly one meal for themselves. Now having them board with Chabela for a few days seems like the perfect solution. I also loved deb's characterizations. She did capture the essence of an exceptionally good telenovela.

Bajo
Gracias, muchas Novelera

Think I'll skip Eva. also I only watched 2 episodes of Centauro & I gave up on that. I want less violence for awhile. Think I'll give Gran Hotel? a try.

Bajo

Yes, this certainly is exciting. Kudos to Luis Ernesto Franco for his touching portrayal of Rodrigo's finally having his daughter in his arms. Fingers and toes crossed that he somehow survives.

And yes indeed, SpanProf and Juanita I also got the hint that Paulina may be carrying Erick's child. This would be a wonderful gift for Erick's mother. Juanita, I loved "Telenovela Medical Training"!

I don't want Colmillo to get his hands on Carlos, so I'm hoping for a rescue before he returns.

At least Viewerville got to see Carlos tell Felicia exactly what WE thought about her last night. I didn't say so in my recap but he also said something about maybe she'd been fooling him all along and had never been the good person he thought she was.

Upcoming and current novelas

I actually watched the first week of Centauro and was slightly hooked. The acting is pretty good, and the prison scenes are interesting. Michel Brown, even though he talks WAY too fast is an interesting actor. And, in an unusual twist, the rebellious but heroic cop's wife has been cheating on him with his boss, a real scumbag. I may not hold on for the duration, but I'm sort of interested now. And there isn't that much shooting.

Sounds like not much enthusiasm for Eva. I hereby volunteer, since I usually do Monday recaps for Bajo to do the final and also to do the following night's first episode of Eva. We'll see what develops.

Bajo. Novelera, Bajo is a very hard act to follow! I'm kind of impressed with the principal actress in the trailers :) for Eva la trailera, though.

EVA
novelera muchas gracias! You are a champ for offering to get us started with Eva. Still at work, so can't comment, but just wanted to thank you. The 9 o'clock slot is where you'll find me regardless.

EVA

I want to support Eva since I will forever respect Edith Gonzalez for her role in the original "Corazon Salvaje" but I wished Jorge Luis Pila was her leading man instead of Arap Bethke. Erika de la Rosa, who plays Felicia will be in it as well, but that's not enough of a draw for me.

Eva

Novelera, muchísimas gracias for offering to recap two successive nights, and especially including the opening episode of Eva. Tuesday is the night I've been recapping Bajo, so I tried to psych myself up to do the opening episode of Eva next Tuesday. But I couldn't ignore the fact that with my fair-to-middling Spanish, it's a challenge to recap even when I have a context to help me. Without that context, I'm sunk. If I decide to stay with Eva, I'll probably try to recap once a week, probably on Tuesdays. But not next Tuesday.

Again, many thanks.

BAJO

Novelera,

Once again, thank you for a terrific recap along with all that goes with it to make it happen....

I too loved that scene with Rodrigo and his family and am hoping against hope that he survives. That scene was so warm and wonderful. I wish we had more happy scenes.
They are so few and far between.

So, the writers are giving a marvelous gift to a distasteful character, Paulina, as we also see her revising her thinking about Adela. How generous of them. And how lovely for Erick's mother especially.

SpanProf, I did not notice the ring you mentioned, only the two gawdy gang-leader rings on the other hand. But you piqued my curiosity about his real-life marriage, so I had to check that all out and found some nice pictures of him with his wife who comes from a show business family. Her sister has starred in a few Univision novelas.

After my last Univision novela, I said that I would not return; however, I have decided to watch Hotel de los secretos. It has had some good reviews, and I especially like Diana Bracho. I do not plan to comment; I will simply be a lurker.
because it looks as if there will be plenty of viewers to step in that role.

Even though I don't say much when I comment here, I wanted to be a part of this group because I wanted to show my support. I have found this to be one of my very favorite novelas and, as we all know, not at all predictable with regard to the major story lines.

I do not want more violent narco traficante novelas.

I have learned much from all of the recappers and all of the commenters.

Anxious for this evening's episode and hoping that Carlos will be freed.
Enough is enough. And I hope we will be finished hearing about Rudolfo after tonight. Way too much time was unnecessarily spent on him. I guess it was needed for some filler or to guarantee the actor more screen time.

Chat later,

Eva

The site Más Que Telenovelas has offered a synopsis in Spanish of the upcoming novela Eva La Trailera. I thought it sounded a little more interesting than the Telemundo trailers led me to expect. Here's a link to the synopsis (just scroll down a bit from the top of the page):
Eva Sinopsis en Español

Bajo

Floridia,

I disagree with your saying that you don't say much when you comment here. I've always enjoyed your comments and found them interesting. I hope you'll continue here, even if you decide to watch Hotel de los secretos as well.

Fatmagul:

Thanks J for Mondays recap!

I'm with you on Meltem. I like her but she was so demanding with Fatmagul, and she ended up getting fatmagul fired! Idk why that bothered me the most. Possibly because I thought she was making it more about her. And although I don't think they came out and said it I think it was hinted at that meltem tipped off the press about the case. It was fun to see the rich families scrambling.

Vural can cry all he wants, his guilt doesn't amount to anything.

And didn't know fatmagul was supposed to be so young! So sad how she couldn't get past her name and age before breaking down. But so happy how we can see her getting (continuous) professional help.

And wow Kristen, jealous much? Loved the whole singing scene, kerim love for fatmagul was so obvious with the way he could not help but stare at her.

Centauro:

Novelera, I watched the first week as well and did find myself hooked enough to continue. I'm usually not into narco tns but after seeing all the promos couldn't help but decide to check it out.

Yeah the cheating was an interesting twist. I was surprised that they made him a married man of of seven years, who seems (albeit lukewarmishly) committed to making his stained marriage work.

And now we have the centauro's wife making her entrance. She does not look like a woman you want to cross.

General:

Thank you LXN and Juanita for keeping us updated and now giving us 2 post per week :)

jlk

Centauro
I'm watching too, although I still don't know whether or not i'll continue once the Gran Hotel remake starts. The prison scenes are interesting, it's (so far) not super sleazy, and the characters are a wee bit more complex than the narco stereotypes Telemundo had been relying on before. Plus I think the daughter's little romance is adorable.

Bajo

(maybe a teaser to lead into Juanita's wonderful recap)

WoW, what a way to end the show!

they all seemed to have silencers on their guns, I guess they wanted to keep down the noise, neighbors and all.

and I can't help thinking that Felicia is going to do something that allows Carlos to escape before Colmillo returns (she's not really a bad person, is she?).

and I'm sure Adela won't stop till she is in the thick of it.

Centauro

Glad Gerardo found out about su jefe and his wife! I hate 2 timers, so the whooping Gerardo gave his boss was my fave scene. I continue to like the little street boy who helps Gerardo. Gerardos partner should be el jefe! Yolanda can do better than centauro, but she needs him to survive.i hope she ends up with gerardo. Last but not least, abuela needs a reality check real bad.i hope centauros men get her. This novela is challenging my spanish, and i love that! N.Lopez

Eva
Wasn't paying attention to the TV but heard a familiar voice in the ad & it was Felicia (Bajo), she is Marlene. Looks like she hasn't mended her ways. Marlene has short black hair. I might have to watch an episode or 2 just to see her.

BAJO EL MISMO CIELO - MARTES - Parte 1 de 3

Tonight's episode begins with Juana calling Adela. Juana is very upset. The apartment has been ransacked. Adela is not surprised. Colmillo is obviously looking for Adela. She tells Juana not to stay there by herself but to come right away to Carlos' house, where Adela is with Cristóbal.

The scene shifts to the one place Colmillo's goons have been ordered not to search, Rodrigo's house. Rodrigo is cooing over his baby. Greicy asks Rodrigo whether he wants to give her her bottle. Rodrigo is at first a bit nervous but takes to the role quite quickly. He asks Greicy whether it was Luis who brought Anita. Greicy says it was, and that he told her his father had taken Anita from Felicia but didn't tell her where Carlos was. Rodrigo goes downstairs and asks Luis to tell him everything about how he and Carlos found the baby.

The scene then shifts again, and we see a bloody Carlos locked in a cage made of metal bars, like a cage in which one would keep a large animal. Felicia is in the room and tells him that he has left her no other option: if he's going to act like a mad dog (perro rabioso) she's going to treat him like one. Her tone keeps shifting back and forth between soft pleading ("help me get my baby back") and frightening nastiness ("I'm capable of anything, even killing your sons").

Meanwhile, Nick and Sharon are sharing some loving moments. He tells her it's not just sex, that she's very special to him. The two admit that they're in love.

With our faith in humanity briefly renewed, we return to Carlos and Felicia, where our faith is tested again. Felicia is trying to find out where her baby is. Carlos replies, "The baby is safe--away from you. Assassin!" Felicia replies that "the only danger to Anita is Rodrigo and Greicy. Rodrigo is a criminal. He has contempt for you (te desprecia), he wanted to steal the woman you love. Why do you trust him?" Carlos replies that he will always believe in his sons, and that Felicia will never understand "because you're not a mother and never will be." Felicia replies with her usual combination of blame and self-pity: "You think I'm a bad woman? I sacrificed everything for you. I lied, I cheated, to win your love. It was for you. It's your fault." [I was tempted to begin this recap by giving the episode a title: "The Blame Game." Felicia is one of many characters who blame themselves or others before the episode is over.]

BAJO EL MISMO CIELO - MARTES - Parte 2 de 3

Not surprisingly, the scene shifts from Blame Master #1 to Blame Master #2: Rudolfo. (Though perhaps he and Felicia are tied for first place.) I was already tired of Rudolfo before the episode started, so I'll simply say that he spends a tedious amount of time sitting and then standing on a wall far above the ground below drunkenly bewailing his fate, while Santiago tries in vain to reason with him and get him to come down from the wall. The one bizarrely amusing part of this saga is the arrival of a television reporter and her cameraman while Rudolfo is standing precariously on the wall. "Is he your friend?" the reporter asks Santiago, and then she excitedly tells the cameraman to record. She begins: "We're here live, covering an intended suicide. The difficult moment in which a man debates between life and death." She then addresses Rudolfo and asks him why he is trying to kill himself, and what message does he have for others in the same situation.(!) Rudolfo, realizing at last that he's being filmed, addresses himself to Maria and says "Maria, forgive me. I know you don't want me to go out into the street when I drink tequila but there were no lemons in the house and I went to try to find some." This all-too-realistic parody of TV journalism would be funny were it not for the fact that Rudolfo's chldren are sitting with Isabel, watching their father on television. Everyone is upset, and perra-in-training Lupita announces that it's all Maria's fault.

Isabel calls Maria and tells her Rudolfo is on television. Maria turns on the TV and sees what's happening. Isabel apologizes for letting the children see this. Maria assures her it's not her fault.

Meanwhile, back at Colmillo's, Colmillo is prepared to kill Carlos now. "He is no use alive," he tells Felicia as they stand in front of Carlos in the cage. "I told you we're going to kill his whole family." The amazingly brave/foolish Carlos then says to Colmillo, "You're obsessed with other people's children. First Rodrigo, then Anita. You should have done a better job of caring for your own daughter. Perhaps she would still be alive." Colmillo points his gun at Carlos and fires, just as Felicia grabs his arm and prevents the bullet from hitting Carlos. "No," she screams, "we need him alive."

Rodrigo and Greicy talk, and Rodrigo says sadly that perhaps Carlos is already dead. "And it's my fault." He continues, telling Greicy that he was very hard on his father, and that now that he is a father, he understands all that Carlos was trying to say to him. Carlos told him "We're your family, the gang is not your family." Rodrigo admits that deep down, he knew Carlos was right, but he couldn't admit it. Now that he has a daughter, he knows that he wants to care for her and protect her. Greicy tells him that she is also to blame, because she should have trusted Rodrigo. He tells her he doesn't want this life for his daughter, he doesn't want her to suffer. Greicy tells him, "We can change."

BAJO EL MISMO CIELO - MARTES - Parte 3 de 3

The scene shifts back to Colmillo's. Carlos tells him "My sons and I aren't to blame for your past." Colmillo agrees, and he tells Carlos about his upbringing. He claims that the family is a mirage (un espejismo). His father taught him with blows. He left home when he was 18 and joined the army.
Then he realized that if they wanted to humiliate him, they could. He left the army and created his own organization, in order to have more money and power.
Carlos asks him whether he's going to start a gang war, and whether Anita will be in the middle of it. Colmillo tells him that although he cares about Anita, what's more important to him is the hatred he feels for El Faier. And later he also admits that it's better to kill the child before she grows up to betray him, as El Faier did, though of course he hasn't told this to Felicia.

There's a moving scene between Luis and Susy. Luis asks Susy why she loves him. She tells him it's because he's so good-looking. She then tells him that really it's because he's an excellent person, and because he stood by her and supported her through her difficult times, "And now it's my turn to do that for you."

At the police station, we see Suarez on the phone with Colmillo. Colmillo's gang is on its way to Rodrigo's, and Colmillo wants to be sure that there are no cops around to cause problems. Suarez assures him that he's taken care of that. Adela overhears Suarez, but he doesn't know this.

At Rodrigo's, Rodrigo tells Greicy that yes, he think Colmillo's men will attack, and she should not under any circumstances leave this room. We then see Rodrigo addressing his men and telling them to prepare for battle. Why he's doing this outside with no one standing guard, I don't know. Sure enough, Colmillo's gang arrives without being seen. One guy goes over the wall and shoots one of Rodrigo's men. The gun battle begins. Upstairs, Greicy and her mother hear the gunshots. Greicy tells her mother, "I'll die before they take my daughter from me again." And on that statement, the episode ends.

Bajo. Excellent and very complete recap, Juanita! I'll bet Rudolfo, selfish creature that he is, enjoyed every minute of media attention. The best thing that could happen with respect to Felicia now is that she finds out that El Colmillo was willing to risk Anita's life and she kills him--though not likely to happen. And oh oh!--Rodrigo seems to have had an apotheosis, the moment when a tragic hero comes to some kind of realization about his life or situation--in this case when he says he's been too hard on Carlos. Of course, what happens next to the tragic hero is that he dies. Amazing the rational conversation EC and Carlos were able to have under the circumstances, but Carlos' captivity is starting to drag.

Bajo

wonderful recap Juanita, it's so nice how you weave the human element into the action.

when the newslady showed up, I thought we would see Rudolfo hitting on her.

of course when he has sobered up, after the police have carted him away to a hospital ??, he admits he wasn't going to kill himself, it was just a drunken thing, but Santiago is not happy about getting pulled into this whole thing, with the police, but Rudolfo throws out that he wasn't deported.

and then Rudolfo has a visitor, it's mr. Jacob, "we need to talk, man to man".

oh and interesting that the family theme that the gang life is based on is being thrown aside as the split gang fight each other.

Bajo

Many thanks, SpanProf and deb, for your kind remarks about the recap and your very interesting comments. Yes, SpanProf, I too fear that the normal pattern has the tragic hero die after his realization. I suppose there's a chance that the telenovela may not follow that pattern, but I kinda suspect that it will.

deb, I loved your expectation that Rudolfo would hit on the TV journalist!

It's interesting that Colmillo says he wants to talk to Carlos man to man, and then Jacob says the same to Rudolfo. And I think at one point Carlos wants Colmillo to let him out of his cage so they can settle this between the two of them, man to man. ¡Ay, los hombres!

Bajo

I've continued to think about deb's remark about expecting Rudolfo to hit on the TV journalist. What a pity that he didn't! I wonder whether Lupita would have blamed the journalist. :-)

BAJO

Thanks, Juanita,

Truly excellent recap - very detailed and beautifully written.
Thanks for all you've done for us throughout this terrific novela.

Well things, can go all bad, all good, or partly good and partly bad.
We've had foreshadowing for alternative endings.

Carlos was talking way too much, making things worse for himself.
Even though Felicia is doing heinous things, I did not like how he said she was
not a mother, so she could never understand. She lost two children, and she did grieve over them. She did take care of Anita once she finally accepted her.
Admittedly, she is an obsessed murderess, and Colmillo is similar with regard to his daughter.

Oh, well, we will soon know how all will turn out.

Agree with you Span/Prof; we've had enough of Carlos in the Cage.

Chat later,

Fantastic recap, Juanita. I wish I had more time for commenting, but I have an insane day at work.

The episode was so touching. I was in tears when that excellent actor playing Rodrigo talked about his childhood, when his father played boomerang with them at the beach. I think he meant throwing them into the water and the waves bringing them back. He said that his father made a metaphor about, I think, not letting yourself get too far away from your ethics before you come back to your center. At least I think that's how it was said. I wish I'd written it down.

I think Colmillo was even more evil than saying it was better that the baby not grow up to betray him. He leered at Carlos and said killing the baby to hurt Fire meant more to him than his current feelings for the baby.

Bajo

One more thing. I'm pretty sure Felicia came into the room after EC made that declaration about killing the baby to hurt Fire and Carlos didn't tell her what he said. Maybe tonight. I was wondering why he said so many taunting things to the two of them. Just can't resist, or is sure he's going to die and wants to goad them into making it faster?

Bajo

Many thanks, Floridia, for your appreciative remarks. I agree with you about Carlos' nasty comment to Felicia about her not being a mother. In fact, I almost said something about that in the recap. It seemed rather out of character for Carlos. I think he was furious with her and was simply trying to hurt her as strongly as he could. I can't say I blame him, even though I don't agree with what he said.

Bajo

Thanks very much, Novelera, for your complimentary remarks about the recap and your very insightful comments. I confess that I didn't understand that the bumerán was a metaphor, and I'm delighted that you called attention to it.

I too was struck by the imprudent things Carlos said to both Felicia and Colmillo. I think he did so primarily to hurt them as best he could, under the circumstances. I don't think he'd gotten to the point where he just wanted to get it over with as quickly as possible. All his instincts are to fight, to struggle.

Juanita, did you notice the actor, who's portraying Cristobal the Cop, used to be in the 2005 movie, "La Fiesta Del Chivo" ?

Bajo

Steve, I never saw "La Fiesta del Chivo," but I did see Jose Cortines ("Cristóbal") in the novela "Marido En Alquiler," where he played the boxer Máximo Durán.

BAJO & GENERAL
Just so you all know, I'm overcommitted with work this week, so all I can do is read. And boy, what a read! Tons of great observations and Juanita's recap was fabulous. Back and forth over so many things. But, I gotta say, I loved, loved, loved the Nick & Sharon scene! So tender. Thank you all for commenting!

Bajo

So will Felicia let Carlos go? Will he tell her what Colmillo said about getting rid of Anita before she can grow up to betray him the way Rodrigo did? Will Adela fall into Colmillo's clutches? Will the fact that Greicy is now legally recognized as Anita's mother play a role in the novela's conclusion? Will Rodrigo survive?

So many questions, so little time. :-)

Bajo

ok, during the gunfight, Greicy whips out a gun, where did you get that, her shocked mom wants to know, oh, Greicy says, there is no shortage of guns in this house.

her mom is definitely out-of-there, back to Mexico, but wait the lawyer stops by later on and the hearing went well, Felicia didn't show and the judge didn't bring in the Rodrigos thingy, and ruled in favor of Greicy, she is now the legal mother of Anita.

back to the fight, Colmillo had Rod out numbered 2 to 1, but Rod managed to roust them, (since they couldn't get into the house) getting one shot in the back of Colmillo as they were retreating, but Rod lost a lot of guys, plus some switched sides, he looks worried about them coming back.

Colmillo gets bloody Carlos out of his cage, sticks a knife or something into his leg, sends the video w/ screams to Adela, bring me Anita or Carlos dies, Adela is devastated, as Paulina tries to help. (of course we know Colmillo will kill both Adela and Carlos after she brings him Anita) meanwhile the gang has fun poking Carlos in the leg.

Adela calls Luis, says Carlos is alive, but nothing more.

Adela meets with Rod at Carlos' house, shows him the video, (touching moment for them both, especially after Rod's tender moments with Greicy and how everything has changed for him after seeing Anita) Adela calls Colmillo (with Rod listening) and tells him she'll do it, he gives her 24 hours. Rod tells Adela no Cristobal, stay here, I'll take care of it (we all know she will)

(and Adela was following Suarez around earlier, he didn't lead her to Colmillo, but she knows where he lives, did she tell Rod this?)

Christobal meets with the young girl Colmillo baptized into the gang, she wants protection, but won't spill, and you know how cops are, "I can't help you unless you help me" (and she knows where Colmillo's place is).

Carlos breaks out of his cell, only to run into Felicia bringing him refreshments, but wait, she has a gun too, what?

I can't remember a time where Felicia actually hurt someone, that's just not her style, but now she has a gun and...

while the rest of the cast are meeting up at the reopening of the restaurant.

Bajo

Yay!!! A wonderful deb recap! Deb, I've been hoping you'd start recapping again--I've really missed your delightful style. Thanks so much.

I'd like to say more, but I've gotta run. Maybe later.

Bajo. Great recap, deb! I too welcome you back, especially we often have seemed to be on the same wavelength . Very intense episode! I can't believe that, Suárez or not, with all that gunfire some neighbor wouldn't have called the police and insisted that they respond. There are now 3 possible paths to Carlos's rescue--Cristóbal's information from the young undocumented woman, Rodrigo and Adela leaning on Suárez and setting up some kind of trick, and Carlos freeing himself (with Felicia's help? possible but unlikely). Luis and Susy gave very good advice to María's children, Susy based on her experience as the child of a broken marriage and Luis based on having lost his mother at an early age. He telsl them that they are lucky to still have 2 parents. Then Jacob is very clever in enlisting them to help their father. I could hardly believe that Rudolfo finally admits that the whole mess of Marí's leaving him is his own fault! Could he finally be growing up?

Bajo. And although this is usually novelera's domain, there were some interesting words I had to look up. Blindado, to describe Rodrigo's house, means armored. Chones is a colloquial term for underwear. María's son wants to swim in Jacob's pool in his underwear? And as nearly as I can tell, the insult Rudolfo directs toward Jacob: Masiosare comes from the Mexican national anthem: Mas si osare extraño enemigo, But if a foreign enemy should dare, meaning Jacob is a foreign enemy of Rudolfo. Extraño can also mean strange, and osare is archaic, a future subjunctive, already more than a bit archaic and very formal when the Mexican national anthem would have been composed.

Bajo. That hammer that Carlos uses to break out of is cage was awfully conveniently situated, btw. And to extend the classical tragedy analogy, Rodrigo has another apotheosis when he realizes that he wants to be part of a real family with Greicy and Anita. Lourdes, Greicy's mother, is kind of a Cassandra when she says that no good can come of any of this.

Bajo

SpanProf, I'm interested to see that I'm not alone in having to look up blindado, chones, and masiosare. To find the last one, I had to turn to WordReference.com, which had an interesting discussion. According to that discussion, many Mexicans don't know the words to the national anthem, and some have even named their children Masiosare!

After watching last night's episode, my first thought was that Carlos would manage to escape, but before he could inform Adela, she would be captured in her attempt to rescue him. But that's an awful lot to happen and get resolved in the novela's three remaining days. I'd love to have the young indocumentada play an important role in Colmillo's downfall, but I think the major role will have to be played by Rodrigo and/or Adela.

Bajo

Terrific comments and recap, Deb. Also glad to see you back putting in your special wisdom.

No time to comment right now, except why in blazes did Felicia have to show up just then? No way she's letting him go since he's the bait she thinks will get Anita back and Adela killed.

Bajo

And I don't suppose they're going with Carlos bashing Felicia in the head with that hammer, which is what I'd do to get out of there!

Bajo

but Carlos could get a hold of the gun.

thanks guys!
and spanish lessons are always a good thing!

one of the things that I think needs to occur is Cristobal coming face-to-face with Felicia.

say, when is Juanita's daughter going to show up?

Bajo

I'll put up some kind of a recap tonight. Length will depend on my energy level, which has been low this week because of a chest cold.

Bajo

anyone who watched Flor Salvaje (same author) will have a rough idea how this will end, that one went to the last show where the bad guy and the not-so-bad guy come face to face, but if you look in the very back of the TELENOVELA RULE BOOK, in the fine print, the good guy never kills the bad guy, and I believe that no matter what Rodrigo has done in the past, he is now a good guy and doesn't want this kind of life for his daughter, can't wait to see how this turns out.

Bajo. Thanks, novelera! Hope you're feeling better! I'm hoping that at the end they'll have one of those a few months/years later scenes, with all the problems resolved, Carlos and Adela happily married, possibly with a child or 2, and Adela dividing her time between supervising the repair of the business's many trucks and writing publicity for it, Santiago and Juana also happily married, Juana now literate and her daughter nicely settled in to LA, Jacob and María of course married, Susy, Luis and Nick all graduated from college, with Luis an up and coming landscape architect, Susy a teacher because she enjoyed teaching Juana to read so much, Sharon walking, though maybe with a cane, etc. etc. The question marks of course are Rodrigo, Felicia and Greicy. Carlos, Adela and Santiago will all be citizens. El Colmillo will of course be dead.

BAJO

EXCELLENT RECAP, Deb, many thanks! and also excellent point about the ending.
As SpanProf mentioned the other day, it is possible that Felicia will kill El Colmillo.

Just loved the scenes with Rod and Greicy, and I especially like how she forced the issue as to whether he might return to look for Adela once again. She was so happy when he gave her the news originally, but she was not naive enough to accept it so quickly. He confirmed it for her in no uncertain terms, NETA?

I also liked how Greicy put the chair to barricade the door, and how she got the gun if it had been necessary to use it. She was ready to protect her child as best she could.

I also liked how she talked with her mother. She understands her mother's feelings
about returning to Mexico, but she did not want to have ill will between them and wanted to clear that up before the mother left. Lourdes keeps talking about how she has other children who need her, but if anyone needed her, this would be the time to stay and help with the baby now that she has returned.

I am wondering if Felicia's baby will be exhumed? Wouldn't be a good idea for Carlos to know if he is not the father of a baby who died? As it is now, we are all in the
dark as to the baby's paternity.

Enjoy all comments; chat later ...................

Bajo

what I meant to say about the ending,
I'm looking for a surprise!

just speculation...

Bajo

Lourdes as been frequently as annoying as she was in La Dueña del Paraíso as Adán's mother. Same deal, she shows up from Mexico in the middle of the novela.

When they have a role description as suegra metiche her name must be at the top of every casting director's list.

BAJO
Wow deb! A real treat. I've always loved your recaps—uniquely insightful & spot on. It's what encouraged me to try my hand back in the days of Los Mis. Thank you1

"When they have a role description as suegra metiche her name must be at the top of every casting director's list."— novelera, you crack my up!

"blindado" I knew, but "chones" & "masiosare" are new to me. Thanks for the vocab and all the comments. Another reason to love CarayCaray!

And remember, folks, tonight our new page comes online at 8PM, so most likely comments on tonight's show will start up there.
