This was quite a pivotal episode. I kept telling Julio to hurry up and look in the casket before the show ran out of time, but of course he didn't listen to me. But I'm going to guess that she's not the dead person, because then Julio would leave.

I'm glad that Ayala knows the truth about Julio and what he's up to, and I look forward to them working together. We still don't know who bonked Isabel, that will be a great mystery to solve. Could it have been Cristina?

So Elisa is betraying her son, shame on her. I don't think it will take any time for him to learn that she did that when he hears that Diego has pitched his idea to Teresa.

 

Princess, Juju, when technology fails, that is just the au it goes. I had my own problems earlier this week.

My only comment: Isabel "has been talking in her sleep" ( gee, sounds like an old song to me) about Julio and Dr. Lázaro heard her!!!

While we are waiting, could someone do a little shirtless research (I mean research on Julio while shirtless)? His lunar tattoo was quite obvious yesterday and I'm wondering if there were any other instances where it might have been there and we missed it. It's quite dark. Didn't he spread his arms out when he jumped into the grotto pond with Isa looking on horrified?

So Can-can madam saved Julio's butt--in an automobile that looked a little more like a 1920 Re Vere touring car. (Of course, I know nothing about Early American Automobiles, but there are plenty of picture if you Google the term)
 

I posted what I was remembering/fantasizing of Thursday's episode, but it disappeared. The other thing I recall is that Felipe & Mercedes were caught in flagrante by el General. I noted that they failed to lock the door (was it not even left ajar "puerta entreabierta, as the theme song says for Perla Negra-- which is almost a requirement in a telenovela; no matter what amount of intimacy is to take place, the door will not be locked, if even shut all the way.

It was disappointing that El General did not draw his broad sword & give Felipe about 5 nalgadas with the flat of the blade. No, we shouldn't see the red stripes!

The recappers are greatly appreciated, but they don't owe us anything; they kindly work & give us recaps. So I certainly don't blame any of them for not posting a recap. But I suggest that if the recap is not posted by 10 AM the next day, the moderator(s) go ahead and post a 1 or 2 sentence description of the episode (like, "Felipe gets busted by El Machete") & then comments be permitted below that while we wait for the actual recap.
 

That dead body better be Cristina, otherwise all that crying would be very misleading.
And done on purpose to keep us on the edge of our seats for a whole day. Not that I care, but anyway...

If Dr Laz betrayed his hipocratic oath telling everybody that he found Isabella crying her eyes out, no doubt he will out Sofia Vergara about her lefthandiness...

Did Diana Bracho studied acting in the Florence Foster Jenkins school for over selfconfident people? All that schrieking to Lupe gave me goosebumps, please someone tell her that opening your eyes wide and yelling is not acting!

Also, Maria Renee Prudencio is no Patricia Highsmith, so, why portray Bibi Peluche's character as a lesbian? I understand that women who rode horses needed skirts that also functioned as slacks, but, the whole attire?

Excuse my ignorance, but I thought women started wearing men's clothes during the 30s.
So much for accuracy!
 

So what will happen to Felipe? Run him through a military beltline? Duel with the General? Forced marriage with an escopeta? Bring in a priest quick?

Capitulo 14, Thursday noche, this is hardly the definitive resumen, for which we all are waiting, realizing that the volunteer recapper is going to bring it forth in all its delightfulness -- thanks for the recappers free work for us & we can wait).

But when he awoke, the ring on his door bell came. Julio thought, "Well Andres got an Isa Bell hug, today is my turn."
But durn, it was Inspector Columbo. He couldn't wait for Julio to eat breakfast. It was down the the station for interrogation. Julio fessed up & recounted his history, trying to excuse himself, but Columbo cut him off: "Look lad, you beez oldfishally dead anyway. So they ain't no fleas on you. But you gots to be my sapo-teller in the HOtel.
Julio: "You speak of Ho? Let me tell you about ho. I rescued the madame from the gendarme, & she moved high level ganas por me, intalling me into her bed at at bordello. Every time I tried to get up, she tackled me & dragged me back. I couldn't hardly get away. Whatever you do, don't repote me to the hos; they gone imprison me. Now I have stored up all these STDs which I intend to share with Isa Bell. Please don't step on my blue suede shoes in this matter.
Columbo: "I wouldn't think of it; but you show got to shovel me surity on the hotel shenanigans. But wait! We gots to show you the cuerpo de deseo! We discovered a cuerpo -- you have to tell us if it is Cristina or just some Clementine.

Julio looked at the cuerpo & reacted as if it were his sister, Cristina -- which indicates to me that it is not Cristina, for I think they would have left the result a total cliff-hanger otherwise.

I am puzzled as to what happened with Lupe's cooking. The clients complained. "Gack Gack, upchuck, spito, spitare, hocto, splat!" Did Lupe have his son cook? Did an enemy poison the food? Lupe hung his head like it was his fault. Angela tried to defend him.

Benjamin said he had to amscray temporarily to help his son somehow. He said that Angela should try to get the job to Andres, in whom Ben had confidence. But it looks like Benjamin may be leaving for good? Cud this mean that Belen, will increase her attention on Andres?

Lazaro increased the confidence of Sophia by assuring Sophia that while he knew she was left-handed, he approved of it -- he shook hands left-handed with her. Mother Teresa had forbad her to be left-handed. Lazaro, "It is OK to be a lefty, but we gone seat you at the table at the edge so that your left elbow hasn't got anyone sitting beside it."



 

Did anyone else have the scene where Filipe and Mercedes being caught by the general be cut out? We were watching some other part of the episode, then all of a sudden, the general is in front of Mercedes yelling at her and telling a naked Filipe to come out.

Well, I am not sure about the hypocritical oath, if it applies to knowledge gained when the doc is not treating a patient. But somehow I think Lazaro will not squeal on Isa Bell or Sofia -- just my guess.

I am not sure how the women-wearing-men's-clothes evolved over time. But didn't composer Chopin love a woman who dressed as a man, "George Sand" = Amantine-Lucile-Aurore Dupin, 1804–1876)? Of course Chopin and George Sand did not live in Mexico.
 

Enoch- I posted on the Wed's comments that I took away your comment but saved it, until we heard from the Thursday recapper and had a recap or comment post for Thursday. It's now above. Always give the recapper or recapping team a chance to post the next page, instead of adding comments/mini-recaps on the previous recap. Even though the following episode has been aired, it's still considered a spoiler on that post. Thanks again for doing this! Just wait a bit.

I thot it was done poorly; we shud have seen the General with his machete at the door, barging in. Why wud they cut that out or not show it? I appreciate Univision not showing porn scenes, as wanting the family to be able to watch, but surely we needed to see more than we got to see. It was like the General suddenly materialized in the room. I guess we can check YouTube to see if something else was there. Has this show already been shown in Mexico by Televisa?

Cathyx- Yes, I think Univision, being as puritanical as it is, cut the scene of Felipe and Mercedes getting it on and getting caught in bed. And since it's airing here first, we can't even find the uncut scene that Mexico WILL get online. Oh well! I'm sure we can imagine what happened before the General barged in.

I don't see how Julio would be able to identify the body. They've already said the girl is badly beaten AND swollen from being in the water. It seems that all they would be able to identify is height, hair color, eye color, skin color/race, and any obvious scars or birthmarks. If I thought there was a chance of my sister being in that box, I think I'd be bawling too, even before getting a good look at the body.

 

Gen Machete might just be thinking of using said machete on what Felipe was hiding behind the pillow, very funny. He should consider forcing a marriage between his hija & Felipe to get her out of his hair. A marriage made in heaven, these 2 belong together.
 

I realllly don't like that Magdalena from Lo Imperdonable is playing the madame who seduced Julio... I can see her being really possessive and getting jealous of Isabela.

The opening credits definitely keep changing!

I'm also confused as to what was wrong with Lupe's cooking? I thought I had missed something in the previous episode. They didn't explain it, did they?

I thought it was just my cable that freezes often that cut part of the scene with Felipe and Mercedes getting caught in bed. It went right from commercial to Felipe standing next to the bed naked holding the pillow! (Felipe had left the door ajar instead of closing it - he didn't even try to lock it.

Oh, what did Andres say to Julio that Univision had to cut out?? Sigues ___? Was is really that bad of a word? I really wish I could watch the actual Televisa broadcast. The American censoring on these shows is a bit much.
 

Lupe is depressed because Jacinto has been so mean to him lately (insulting his work and his ability to hold on to a wife), and that's why he's messing up with his cooking. That's why Angela made the comment to him about how our children can affect us, and why Jacinto looked so guilty as he watched Teresa yell at his father.
 

I think I'd be upset at the thought of anyone being in that condition in that box, and additionally upset by having to look at them, even if they were a complete stranger. It would be worse for me if it were my sister, but I think I'd have some reaction regardless.

Regarding Matilde's clothing and progressive attitudes, this was definitely a time when feminism was starting to pick up steam. Organized feminist movements started in the mid-1800s in the U.S. and not until sometime after that in Mexico, but there were definitely some women who were ahead of their time, or, to put it more accurately, not as backward as society in general. I googled it and the first organized feminism conference in Mexico took place in 1916. So 8 years before that, there would have been individuals adopting and starting to express these ideals.

Great job, Juju! I think you got everything except Doc Vic hearing Isa calling out for Julio in her sleep (and Julio doing the same and nearly strangling poor Andres who woke him up from his nightmare about Isa).

Was there more to the story of Julio's background? I was hoping for a bit more depth that I thought I missed.

 

With regards to the same medallion that Isabel found, I hope they don't pull a Jane Eyre and have the person who is living there be Diego's scarred or crazy wife, lol, and the medallion belong to her.

Thank you Princess Juju! I didn't enjoy last night's episode for some reason (first time that's happened to me with this TN; maybe I was in a bad mood). Your recap recounted all the important stuff without annoying me the way this episode did. ;-)

Kinda surprised at Mati, being such a feminist and all, pushing Isa towards a man she obviously doesn't find appealing. I mean, I understand her argument against Julio. It's kinda snobby, but it's reasonable even beyond the mores of their time (with his criminal record and such). But it doesn't necessarily follow that Isa MUST marry the guy that her mom picked out for her. In fact, it doesn't necessarily follow that she MUST get married at all; and certainly not right away as if there were some emergency. That's not feminism. That's just crazy.
 

Cathyx, yes, I was quite confused when the General was there yelling at Felipe and his daughter. I thought we'd at least see him open the door (which I had actually thought WAS left ajar - but maybe I blinked just as it closed). At any rate, it was a good bet they were going to get caught, just because we knew that's what they were trying to avoid.

Oh! I just remembered another scene: Afraido confidently giving his pitch for the spa. At least, it looks that way at first. But then we see that he's only practicing his pitch in front of Sofia. When he tries the same speech on Teresa he'll surely get a frog in his throat (assuming Diego doesn't get to Tere first).

Now that's a splended idea, have the head-bopper be an insane ex-wife in a shack. or is De Eggo actually still married? Didn't it require an annulment from the Vatican for an annulment in those days? Wud that have taken years?

Or have the ex-wife in the shack be a taxidermist-stuffed wife in a rocking chair, De Eggo playing her part -- his full name being De Eggo Bates.
 

Possibilities on the Cuerpo del Deseo:
1) It is Cristina, & she is dead.
2) It is not Cristina, but Julio thinks so & will continue to think so.
3) It is Cristina, but she has catalepsy & is alive.
4) It is a twin of Cristina, baby stolen at childbirth.
5) It is Cristina's body, but her spirit went & grabbed another body which was thought to be dead. Now she works in that body at the hotel.
6) It is not Cristina, but Julio at first thought so, but quickly will realize he was wrong (when he sees she doesn't have the crescent moon tatoo which they both received from a Bruja as children).
7) It is not Cristina, but some other girl that Julio knew.
8) It is De Eggo's ex-wife.

Hi all, I'm sorry for the late recap, my service is still super slow with T-Mobile and I still can't stream things at full speed :/

Just a few things (1) I'm on the west coast, which means I'm already three hours behind the east cost posters/recappers, I also don't have internet at home so I can't recap right after the episode is over and even if I did have internet this show is on way too late and I honestly have no intention of staying up past mid-night or getting up at the crack of dawn to do the recap. I know some of our recappers have more flexible schedules but I'm not one of them. Please, don't write your own recaps, as a recapper it kind of discourages me (why do all the hard work, if someone else is going to do it?). I promise I'll always post a recap and in the event that I can't I will make sure to inform Vivi so that she can make appropriate arrangements.

I believed Mati knew all along Isa is pining for Julio but won't admit it would work--going against convention added to the fact he "rejected" her. It seemed more like Mati was trying to get Isa to admit it to herself by challenging her. As it turns out, Isa didn't decide one way or another just then. It just set her to reflecting further. But...I could be wrong in my interpretation.

It's obvious from the credits what Isa decides. I wish they wouldn't do that to us.
 

PJJ--I'm with you there, on not posting mini-recaps on one's own before the recapper does. Now that we know you are a west coast denizen, we will be more understanding.

Enoch--There are already suggested rules for a reasonable time for posting a recap--ordinarily. Exceptions are acceptable. Ten am is much too early for such a deadline. Give us a break!
 

I'm on the west coast too, so my recaps are probably later for those on the east coast since I do them in the morning after too. No worries. As long as we know one will eventually come, we can just post our usual comments and not do recap comments. If you tell us that you can't do the recap, then we can do mini recap comments.

It's possible Matilde might be trying some reverse psychology on Isabel, to spur her independent rebellious side and get her to ditch Diego. But it's also possible she just doesn't see why Isabel likes Julio. After all, most of what Matilde has seen of him has been peevishness and drunken rage.
 

Gracias Juju, this was a wonderful read! This show is surely some explosive stuff but as much as i adore the openings I hate that they are too spoilery so I have decided to skip the opening all together :( . But once again I have to applaud the acting in this show because it is nice to see that the actors are doing their best efforts to entertain the public and not bore us to sleep.

Enoch , we ussualy don't do mini recaps unless the recapper specifies the need for it. I am myself from Europe so when I was recapping shows ( I was recapping Que Te Perdone Dios and Yo No Creo En Los Hombres ) it was a difficult job for me at first Sometimes I did ask for mini recaps because of my absence or techincal difficulities but it is all a matter of opinion and demand.

Elisa is a beyotch and she deserves all the worst. She is playing a deadly game with Diego thus subquently with Dona Teresa. Doesnt she know the parable "Don't Dance with the Devil?" Tere is a possesive mother but I don't believe that she would let Sobfia get humiliated by Elisa unless Dr V could be Sobfia's new hubbie when things with Alfie begin tumbling down? The storyline would make me ack so I hope it never comes to be..

Speaking of Dr.V , I don't know what game is he playing. He could be working with Ayala to spy on the hotel or just a greedy person seeking power for himself. But regardless , he seems good and amable to everyone so he is on my high list for now.

Julio's ex ( Claudia Ramirez yay!)looks very possesive, I feel that she will be a big nightmare for our couple if she decides to join the Hotel! Speaking of Julio, I am glad that he is now on Ayala's side of the chase because now he has more personal freedom to do his mission in peace. I wonder who the body is and who pawned Isabel from the back. Was it Garrido?

Pobre Lupe, I wouldnt wish this hotel on my worst enemy. We tend to forget that the Hotel lives under strict rules those that could be alluded to a dictatorship and this affects the mental state of everyone.

 

I vote that Matilde was doing some reverse psychology. I think her hope is that Isabel would return to her studies, and forget both Julio and Diego.
 

I got a kick out of the flashback of Julio as Madame Cecilia's boy toy. That was quite a crazy detour his life took for a few months. I'm sure Cecilia wants her property back.

I have not fishef all yet but have to say that IMNSHO it was Erick Elias' fabulously winning and sexy smile that got him this role, not any chemistry with his leading lady and once he makes some cah he needs to have his nose fixed a bit to lessen the way it overtakes his otherwise good looks and bedroom eyes. He is a terrifically good actor and could make it in films.
 

And yeah since we are getting hints of political intrigues regarding the moon tatoo relating to terrorists, I suppose we will be seeing real historical people casted in this story like Porfirio Diaz right? Who would you like to see to take on his role? Claudia Alvrez and Juan Ferrara were nice surprises. Myself I hope that Sergio Sendel could take on the role of Porfirio while Alberto Estrella plays his political rival , Nicolas Zuniga. I highly doubt this happens but man that would be so exciting!!

Manuel Ojeda is the perfect Porfirio Díaz. If they do decide to include him in this story.
 

Yeah Manuel Ojeda would be perfect too. Well I do hope they include him in the story . It would be a shame if they didn't since these were important times for Mexico's future. Let's not forget that a decade later , WW1 happened. I am not saying that the commies should appear but it would be nice to see some potrayals of real people .
