Antes muerta que Lichita #115 3/7/16 "El gran final" Part 1

Well, we finally made it to the end and it turned out to be only one hour after all. Anyway, Jane and I are still teaming up to put this one to bed so I will tuck it in and leave it to her to turn off the lights. (So to speak)
Here we go . . .

We pick up the story with Augusto confronting Alicia about the papers she has that belong to him and telling her he has never ever ever in his life forgiven a betrayal. He tells her not to make him look like a fool and asks her if the papers were the only reason she came. He wants to know why she would pay him back like this. Then he is right back in her face when she asks him if he thinks it was nothing what he did to Roberto: making him end up in jail again on his account. Augusto cannot believe that she could be in love with that imbecile. He cannot believe that he Augusto de Toledo Y Mondragón has fallen into her trap. He is at first incredulous but then he applauds her for having done it. She isn't just some social climber; she's a master of her craft. Alicia admits to us that there was some truth in his words. Alicia tells him she is sorry if she really broke his heart. He grabs her and again is in her face. Augusto tells her that he never thought it was possible for anyone to hurt him the way that she has. Anyway, it is too late to help out "her" Roberto. She wants to know what he did to Roberto. He screams that "her" Roberto is dead and throws her back on the bed. Alicia is shocked.

We are now taken back to Roberto, the suitcase of counterfeit money, and the thugs with the guns who want the real money. The head thug wants him to know that he knows he once was the the black panther. He tells Roberto to kneel and one of his underlings to shoot him. Carmona and the police explode on the scene and shoot the shooter and take the head thug into custody. Carmona helps Roberto up.

At the mansion it looks like Dafne and her new friend she met through her blog are making plans to get to know each other better. He kisses her on the cheek and she is surprised but pleased. She kisses him back.

Carmona is talking with Roberto reminding him he said that everything was going to be okay if he just trusted his uncle Carmona. Roberto is still worried that Augusto will want to do away with him. Carmona tells him to not worry because they have a team that is  looking for Augusto to arrest him and he will be spending plenty of time in prison. Suddenly, Roberto has a voice mail from Alicia warning him to not do anything that Augusto asks him to because he is being set up. She does not want anything to happen to him and they now have evidence against Augusto. Mateo is staying with her parents. It is news to Roberto that there is evidence against Augusto and that Mateo is with Alicia's family. He is happy about that. Carmona informs Roberto that there is something he does not know: he is also working with Alicia.

Back at the mansion, Augusto has Alicia by the wrist and is dragging her down the stairs. She wants him to let her go so she can leave but that is not happening. Augusto grabs her by the shoulders and wants to know if she is just dying to to see that cadaver boyfriend of hers. She calls him a murderer. Roberto didn't deserve what he did. Augusto also abandoned Roberto's child. Augusto assures her nobody will see Mateo again.

Carmona explains to Roberto how Alicia played along as Augusto's fiancée so they could get the evidence they needed against Augusto. Roberto calls Alicia but Augusto, who is still wrestling with Alicia, answers her phone. He is very surprised to hear from Roberto supposing he would already be dead. Augusto warns him that if he does anything to touch one hair on his head he will make Mateo pay. Roberto lets him know that Mateo is safe and sound and that Augusto will be doing nothing to him. Augusto is visibly shaken but then tells Roberto to say farewell to Alicia because he will be taking her to a place so far away he will never hear from her again. He hands the phone to Alicia who tells Roberto not to worry and that she loves him more than anything. Augusto warns him not to say a word to the police or his true love will pay the consequences. Roberto panics and starts to run off with Carmona pursuing him.

Augusto is still dragging Alicia around the penthouse with her telling him to let her go. He carries her out of the penthouse into his SUV. Draco is driving. Alicia is fighting all the way. She tells Augusto he is hurting her. He finally lets her go when a woman in a neighboring car starts to show some interest in what is going on. Suddenly Alicia opens the door and goes on the run. Draco goes after her as does Augusto but they are no match for the traffic jam they find themselves in. Augusto finds her cellphone in the SUV.

Alicia comes running into Icónika where she is greeted by Sandra and Fátima who want to know what is wrong. Alicia is hysterical about them wanting to kill Roberto and wanting someone to call the police. Through Chuchette and her "Malicia is at Icónika" group text message on her cellphone, Augusto finds out that Alicia has gone to find help at Icónika. He tells Draco to take him there. Alicia keeps telling them all that Augusto is a criminal and to call the police but Fátima keeps telling her to calm down. Suddenly Augusto is there yelling "Stop!" Alicia is surrounded by a group of Icónika employees. Augusto tells them all that Alicia is not what they think she is. She has been pretending . . . He asks her if she really thought she could conquer him; she the insignificant Lichita. Alicia tells him he is a criminal. Augusto just smiles and laughs. He calls her a traitor, tells her to come to him and pulls out a gun. They all pull Alicia back and gather around her.Everybody screams as he waves the gun around. He calls them all traitors, miserable and ungrateful. Braulio has neen recording it all on his phone. In the meantime, Gumaro is visiting Luciana in the hospital and sees the "Malicia is at Icónika" text message on Luciana"s cell phone and is able to give Roberto that information when he calls.

Still at Icónika, Augusto is continuing to wave his gun around. Nacho has a glimpse of the scene and staying hidden calls the police. Fátima tries to calm down Augusto. Augusto is still intent to go after Alicia. Roberto appears on the scene. Augusto makes a grab for Alicia. Roberto grabs for the gun. There is a scuffle. Just as Sandra is helping Alicia to flee there is a gun shot. They all stop to look and it is Roberto who has been shot and is in shock on the floor. In the background they all hear the police sirens. Augusto goes wild running out of the office wondering who in the hell called the police and screaming. Alicia goes to Roberto and tries to comfort him. The next scene is in the hospital where Rogerto is on a gurney awaiting surgery and Alicia is still talking to him. She tells him he won't be going anywhere without her  followed by lots of  lots of lovey dovey talk. He tells her he won't be going anywhere without her. Augusto is on the run in his SUV but the police apprehend him with a couple of shots fired.

Fátima, Beatriz, Dafne and Gumaro are all with Alicia at the hospital waiting for Roberto to come out of surgery. Detective Carmona suddenly arrives on the scene and he is the bearer of the worst possible news: there was internal hemorrhaging and Roberto lost a lot of blood. He died. They could not save him. They are all in tears. Alicia tells us at that moment the world stopped and the pain was so great she could hardly breathe. It was as if everything was frozen in darkness. She calls Nacho. Nacho tells Elsa. The sad news spreads through Icónika. At the Gutiérrez house, Elsa asks Alicia what is going to happen to Mateo. She has decided she will take care of him as if he were her own. She is going to leave him at the house with them so he has a family and plenty of support.  Nobody is going to take him from her.

Augusto got roughed up in the chase and arrest and is in the hospital with some bandages on his face. Beatriz has come to visit. She starts out by saying she still cannot believe that she was married to a criminal. To her it looks like he is getting payback for telling Dafne she was adopted. He assures her he is going to be the same old Augusto soon enough. What does she want anyway? She wants  Icónika.

At Icónika, there is a meeting. Alicia has a new look: still up to date but much softer and not so much makeup. Alicia says she is in agreement with Sandra that they should just keep working like they always have at Icónika. Icónika has turned them into a great team, the best team. Beatriz comes in and sits down. Beatriz agrees that Icónika will be better than ever. Alicia says they will face everything together.

Time passes . . .

At the Gutiérrez house, Gumaro, Valeria and a very pregnant Luciana come by for a visit. it turns out Luciana is there to make amends. First of all she hands Nacho a key to a car outside to make up for his car that she damaged. She apologizes.

At the hospital, Augusto is being released to go to jail. Augusto is talking to a "lawyer" about his plan to break out of jail. He tells Augusto it is going to cost him a very large sum of money to pay people off, etc. in order to get him out and also it will be a personal risk for him. Augusto does not care. He thinks he will sell his shares in Icónika to Beatriz to raise the money he needs. Augusto tells him to put the plans in action right now.

Back at the Gutiérrez house, Luciana is making amends with Alicia by apologizing for all she put her through and Alicia is apologizing for the "blueberry" revenge incident, etc. Alicia says that at the rate they were going with an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth, they were going to both end up blind, one eyed, etc. Luciana admits that she always admired Alicia for her fighting spirit, her creativity, hard work. She was jealous of her. Alicia tells Luciana she also had brilliant moments and if she would just put herself into her work she would achieve more than she could ever imagine. Alicia feels Luciana's baby kick. They hug. The whole family cheers.

Back at the hospital, Augusto is still talking to the lawyer and tells him that he is going to keep pretending that he is" not well in the head" due to the blow he suffered. The lawyer in turn is going to allege that Augusto is suffering from some rare type of dementia. They will have "their" doctors sign off on it so Augusto can be held in a psychiatric hospital rather than a prison which should make his escape easier. Augusto is planning on going to another country. The lawyer is also in the process of hiring just the right pilot to fly Augusto out in a helicopter. They have to be careful.

Another board meeting at Icónika. Beatriz announces she is the owner: Augusto sold her his shares. Alicia is the new president. Alicia is not too sure. Néstor, Braulio and all the rest of the staff present coax her into accepting. Alicia proposes that Sandra be the general manager (as she has always been).

Big news at the Gutiérrez house: Magos has got a promotion from being a receptionist to sales but she will have to move to Guadalajara. Elsa, Nacho and Ximena look upset.

At the jail, Augusto has a visitor: Fátima. It seems that Augusto believes that his father was the bad parent for having "ripped him from his mother's arm's" when he was just a child. He believes his mother was the only person who has ever really loved him in his whole life. If only his father had not taken him away, his life might have been different not suffering what he did at the hand of his father and brother Rafael. It turns out that his "memory" of what really happened is not true. Fátima informs him that had his father not taken him his life might have been a great deal worse than what he could imagine. Augusto wants to know why. Fátima tells hi that he was never torn from his mother's arms as he believes. His mother gave him over to his father WILLINGLY. She heard it from his mother's own mouth. She practically sold Augusto to his father. She wants him to know that his father saved him from the clutches of a woman who never really loved him. He should put his heart at peace and forget all of the hatred he has for his father. He tells her to never doubt he is a De Toledo y Mondragon.

At the Gutiérrez house, two officials from child protective services arrive to remove Mateo and take him to an orphanage.

Jane will take it from here.

They really can cram a lot in one hour!

Jarifa- Indeed, they did cram a lot into one hour. Was it originally one hour or did Uni cut it down? In any case, thank you for the wonderful part one.

I was really surprised and starting to believe they had really killed Rob when the time kept passing. But I knew they couldn't do that to Mateo, who was just adorable this episode. What a cutie that kid is.

Toledo y Mondragon is actually all his father's last name. Remeber, Rafael had the same last name. We don't know what Augusto's maternal last name was. I'll save my thoughts on his fate till part 2 is up.

Jarifa, a beautifully written summary. I so admire the way you related all the events - capturing everything perfectly - you brought this to "life" with your wise words and clever insight.

"She tells him he won't be going anywhere without her, lots of lovey dovey talk" was so picturesque - along with so many other favorite lines.

Try as I might, I was so anxious to understand Augusto and Fatima's conversation, but could not. "His mother gave him over to his father WILLINGLY. She heard it from his mother's own mouth. She practically sold Augusto to his father" was chilling. I believe it is true in real life that a mother's (real or imagined) rejection could be the basis for a hard heart and evil intentions. I still think one of the saddest things was that he killed Rafael who certainly did not deserve to die by his brother's hand.

Vivi, I also wondered for a few brief moments if Roberto were dead. To my discredit, I felt badly for a split second then imagined Gabe Soto riding up on his steed to whisk Alicia and Mateo away. Although I'm not necessarily convinced Roberto was the right one for Alicia, am pleased Mateo has his father back.

I did enjoy Icónika's staff coming together and becoming a family. Bea is sensational (she really is her daughter's mother)...

With all the kudos for Luci, Augusto and Bea, I have to say Alicia was pretty terrific as well. Maite (like everyone else here) was perfectly cast.

Jarifa, so glad you started recapping. What a marvelous treat for all of us.

Jane, can't wait to read your Part II.

This small but devoted group of commenters have been a breath of fresh air. I've enjoyed each and every comment.

Diana

Thanks! Vivi, for the correction . I will fix it. Too bad, because that would have been so much more poetic!

Diana- I too imagined Santiago riding back into Alicia's life after Rob was declared dead. :)

I believe thus must have originally two hours and it was sliced and diced and compressed. It actually went for 28 minutes without a commercial. I thought there was never going to be a break.

Diana, thank you for your kind words. Recapping has turned out to be quite relaxing and fun. The writers did a terrific job so that made recapping even enjoyable as well as our "small but devoted group." You are so right about real or perceived maternal love/rejection. It was sad realizing what Augusto had become all based on a false memory. Well put: Bea "really is her daughter's mother." Also, I agree with that the casting was perfect. I cannot wait to see what Ingrid Martz does next.

Thank you Jarifa

"Augusto cannot believe that she could be in love with that imbecile" I'm with Augusto!

The mourning look was just right on Alicia.

Diana and Vivi, I too immediately got my hopes up and thought was a great twist and would be quite happy with Santiago's return. What a disappointment Roberto was resurrected. Darn

Jarifa, thank you so much for the most excellent recap. And thank you again to all the brilliant recappers for this series. I enjoyed each and every day with you and all the wonderful patio peeps. I will miss the Elsa and Nacho and all the adventures at Iconika. The finale of Antes Muetra and Downton Abbey in two days, what a bummer.

The only thing that would make it better would be another novella with Juan Angel Esparza. Anything on the horizon with him in it?

Emeraldrose, thanks. It is always nice to hear from you!

Tofie, ITA with you and the ofhers that Alicia's mourning look was perfect. I was glad to see the heavy eyeliner gone.

Thank you so much for posting these summaries. I have missed the last 2 episodes, due to the stupid feud AT&T is having with Univision, and I am missing all of my novelas!!!!

Carmen- So that's for real? The last week or two Uni has been scrolling an annoying banner across the scree saying we ATT customers should call a certain number to complain to ATT, since we are in danger of losing Uni. I didn't know what it was all about. But I still have Uni.

Jarifa, thank you so much for a brilliant part one! And of course all of the hard work of all of the recappers!!

Looks like we got a chop job. So disappointed. But oh well.

I too had thought maybe Rob was dead but since we didn't see a funeral I held out hope.

The convo with Augie and Fat seemed out of place at so late a date. Are we supposed to feel sorry for Augie now? Or some compassion?

I'll comment more after Jane puts up part two. Liking Alicia's "less is more" look.

Carmen, what a bummer! I so hope that they reach an agreement soon. Makes me glad I never switched from Xfinity.

Carvivlie, thanks!

Thanks Jarifa for saving my butt! You got way more plot in your half than I did in mine! You've been a champ. Thanks, everybody, for hanging in with us.

Jane, no problem, I was happy to help.

Finally I have time to get to part one. A big thank you Jarifa for not only this one but for your work all the way through.

I have complete confidence in Magos now---promoted to sales. She's a natural at that with all of her early experience hustling a sale of knockoff goods out on the street.

I pretty said my part on the part two section and as Vivi said, my questions pretty much would be and have been answered---all but one that is. Alicia became President and Sandra became General Manager. Ok, that's well and good. Also all of the Iconika staff really became a team--good again. But then at the end we see Alicia pursuing a new dream elsewhere. One more good,if that is what she wanted for herself. But then at the end or close to the end we get a walk through of Iconika and the whole back portion of the company was all tore up and under construction. What was with that? I didn't get it. What were the writers telling us?

THANK YOU Lichita recapping team.
the gringo

Gringo- That last scene was just Alicia/Maite breaking through the 4th wall, and basically showing us that this was all fiction-- though fiction meant to teach us a lesson. That was the actual set that everything was filmed on at Televisa's studio.

One thing that I was going to say and forgot to was that when Roberto was struggling with Agusto for the gun, there were at least three men standing right there. I was waiting for them to jump in and help Roberto to overpower Agusto but no one moved. No male hero's in that office I guess. I also thought that Nacho would trip Agusto from behind but that didn't happen either. I guess that Nacho was the one that called the police though.

As I said earlier, I was ok/happy with the ending but not with all of Univision's cutting.

the gringo

Gringo, I so agree it was strange to end at Icónika when she had moved on. There was a similar ending in "Por Ella soy Eva" where Eva moves behind the scenes giving us her final thoughts. Lichita and Eva were both produced by Rosy Ocampo. So, your guess is as good as mine!

As you predicted, Magos ended on the upswing. She would be a natural with sales and with the responsibility Ximena on her own she will be a success, no question about it.

Looking forward to seeing your byline: "must see tv" again.

Gringo and all of the patio: Sueño de amor starts tonight. It looks like it could be fun light fare and cute.

Hi Jarifa---Yes it did seem strange to me. Are we to believe that when Alicia moved on, Iconika fell on hard times and went out of business and then some other company bought the building and was in the process of remodeling? I couldn't figure out what was going on there.

I am very happy that Magos is doing well and is finally taking on responsibility. Yes, Ximena will help to keep her on the straight and narrow. But I'm not worried as I know that Magos has seen the light.

My byline---I'm going to keep it because I'm not trying to be funny or different, I really do mean it and so it is going to stay with me.

I'm slowing down novela wise. I'm not going to watch Lichita's replacement and I am not watching the early one with Paulina Goto the young violin player although that one looks good to me--I wanted more time to get things done and since daylight savings will be starting again soon, I didn't want to keep spending so much time in front of the tv. When Pasion y Poder ends, I think that I will sign on to it's replacement. That's my plan for now anyway.

the gringo

Thanks, Jarifa. Terrific Part 1. Everything flew by so fast that I missed a lot. Gracias for filling me in with your signature style.

I knew Augusto would go berserk in the end, but pulling a gun out in front of everyone at Iconika was nuts. He may think he's pretending to be loco, but I don't think so.

Thanks, Jarifa for an excellent summary of the fast action in part 1. I knew Roberto couldn't really be dead, but the cast played it well. Fatima and Augusto's conversation made me wonder if Fatima was really his mother.

The cast all did a great job in this TN. I enjoyed Maite, and she hasn't always been fun for me to watch.

Niecie, Augusto really went over the edge. I just could not believe it when he was screaming and running after hearing the sirens.

Good to hear from you, LaPaloma. This was my first Maite experience so I had nothing to compare her with but I can agree that she did a good job here.
