Sueño de amor #7 3/16/16

Esperanza does her best to make Pedro comfy on the floor since he seems to be passing out and cannot see. She calls for help on her cell.

At Ricardo's house in L.A. the news is that wifey Tracy is not going to let the kids go to Mexico unless it is done her way since they are all in danger because of Ricardo's job and "that maniac" that is stalking them. She brings up Rodrigo's nightmares. Turns out Rodrigo has been having nightmares and Tracy has never ever really given them much importance until now. Ricardo thinks she is bringing up the nightmares now just to blackmail him. We get to see Rodrigo's nightmare where the La Sombra comes into his room through an open window, grabs Rodrigo, covers his mouth and threatens revenge. Finally, Rodrigo gets his mouth free and yells for his dad and mom. Ricardo And Tracy rush in to comfort Rodrigo who has awakened. All Rodrigo can do is mutter "La Sombra" and cry as Ricardo calms him down and Tracy looks like she has had it. Ricardo promises that they will be catching La Sombra real soon. (Makes me wonder what the backstory is on this plot line.)

At the De la Colina house, since Viviana got the news about Pato and Luca being novios, Viviana just sort of wheezes and cannot talk to say what she wants. She finally can write on a tablet that she disagrees with it and it will be over her dead body. Ernesto is more than happy to talk up the novio relationship and rub it in Viviana's face. He tells her "over her dead body" would be perfect and a big favor to everybody.

At the Kuri house, Kristel amd mom Silvana are at it over her going out with a construction worker. Kristel's father Mario is between them trying to quiet both of them down. Kristel views Silvana as the dictator but never a mother. Kristel will do what she wants: she is of age. Kristel leaves. Mario then is criticized by Silvana for not taking her side.

From the hospital emergency room, Esperanza calls Pato to tell her that Pedro fainted and that they have him in the emergency room at the hospital. Nobody knows what happened to him yet eventhough he did regain consciousness. She is waiting for the doctor to come out and talk to her. Luca will take her to the hospital. Ernesto goes too leaving a wheezing Viviana behind writing on her tablet that they left her behind like a dog.

Back in L.A. Ricardo and Tracy are still at it. He finally got to know the real Tracy today: a woman who would do anything to get what she wants. He no longer feels anything for her. He leaves her with a pissy look on her face.

The stooges are snoring away in a jail cell somewhere except for Nacho who is thinking about his Begoña and crying.

Pedro calls Kristel from the emergency. It turns out he fainted and lost his vision but he is okay now. It seems to be because his blood pressure dropped. She tells him about the fight with her mom because she saw her with Erasmo. She tells him about the bike ride.

At the Gallo house, Adrián has arrived with Estrella and informs Erasmo that he talked to his brother Luca about their predicament and that his brother payed the rent money they owed. Erasmo wants to know what the payment is in exchange for. Nothing Estrella and Adrián assure him. Erasmo just does not get it. Kiko insists it is because Luca is their friend. Erasmo is grateful but he cannot accept the help. Estrella wants to know why not. Erasmo will have to talk to Luca about it.

At the hospital, Pato catches up with Esperanza. Esperana is not happy to see Ernesto there who offers additional medical help from his own family doctor. She is not interested. Pato spills the beans on Pedro: he is a diabetic. Esperanza starts crying. Suddenly we are back at the Guerrero house where Pato and Luca finish with their traveling "we are novios" announcement. Esperanza has a much better response than Viviana. Luca leaves. Esperanza finally has time to talk to the kids. Pedro did not tell her because of the new expenses and she worries all the time. He did not want to be a burden. Esperanza responds with reminding him that she is his mother. Esperanza tells him that he and Pato and she are three against the world and they have to stick together.

Adrián is talking to Estrella, but takes his time cutting it short when Luca comes to his room to talk to him. Adrián thanks him again for helping out Estrella's family and tells him that Estrella's older brother wants to talk to him. Luca tells him that what he did won't be for nothing. He wants Adrián to go to therapy in exchange. Adrián looks a little surprised.

It is morning and the stooges have been sprung from their cell. It was Begoña who paid their fine. She is not a happy camper. Nacho looks nervous.

That same morning, Pedro has a blood sugar reading of 130. It is starting to regulate itself. Pato, Pedro and Esperanza all agree to no more secrets from each other. Nobody is going to stop them from getting ahead. Pedro wants to get a job to help out working at a club as a DJ. Esperanza whines and whines but eventually gives in provided that she is in charge of his diet.

Breakfast with Ricardo and the kids: huevos rancheros time. They are going to talk about going to Mexico. He is on a special assignment to catch La Sombra so they are all going to go live in México. Maybe not: Rodrigo adamantly states that he is not going to live in Mexico. Ricardo explains that he needs to have them close so he can protect them and also he needs to catch La Sombra. Rodrigo feels safe just where he is. Selena is ready to go. Ricardo tells them them he wants to go ASAP and that they are his most important special agents and that he needs them. Tracy appears and tells Rodrigo not to worry because they are all going to be TOGETHER. Surprise: she is going, too!!

Just outside of school, Silvana and Esperanza get into it about a discipline report about Pato that could be instrumental in her losing her scholarship. It "seems" that Pato raised her voice to the principal. It is Pato's word against Silvana's. Silvana tells Esperanza to go ahead and make her phone recording public. Silvana will then sign the disciplinary report and Pato will end up in the public school because Esperanza will never be able to pay the tuition. Esperanza warns Silvana that she will not quit her job until she exposes Silvana for the corrupt person she really is.

A repentant Nacho wants to be back in Begoña's good graces.Begoña says they can negotiate. The stooges are happy once again.

Back at school, Esperanza gets into it with Paolo (rich kid with influential father). He is moaning about how he failed two classes because of her. She is trying to tell him how important studying is. It really does not matter to him. He is destined for his dad's company. He tells her she does not get it: his dad can make mincemeat out of her. Esperanza looks like she got the message as the pompous brat leaves.

At Luca's office, Begoña comes in to tell him that Erasmo is there. Luca ask her how things are going with her husband. She says Nacho "siempre me saca las canas verdes". (Literally he always is pulling out her grey hairs while they are still green) In other words, he is maddening, exasperating!! She still loves him but . . . She leaves to let Erasmo in. Erasmo is there to tell Luca now much he appreciates what he did for them and that he will pay him back every cent ASAP. Luca says it is not necessary. Erasmo disagrees. He will pay him back.

Adrián wants Estrella to go with him to a party. She really isn't interested because of the fake stuck up kids who are going to be there. Does he want to go because it is going to be interesting or weird? He answers both and begs with a "please."

Esperanza is in the classroom talking about how people fall in love (animated hearts start appearing) because they are attracted to each other biochemically: dopamine, serontonin, and norepinephrine. The kids are enthralled except for Paolo who is disturbing everyone answering his phone. Esperanza makes him leave. He falls on his own or was conveniently tripped as he leaves and everybody laughs. Later as Esperanza has left the school and is getting into her car, Paolo grabs her by the arm and she is suddenly surrounded by a group of nicely suited thugs. Ernesto happens to appear on the scene and offers his help. Esperanza and Paolo lie about the situation and Paolo leaves snapping his fingers to herd the thugs out of there.

Back in Los Angeles, Ricardo is getting the kids to pack because tomorrow they are going to Mexico. Rodrigo is telling his mother he does not want to go. She tells him not to worry; that  everything will be fine; that he will have new friends.

At the Gallo house, Erasmo is asking where Estrella is going. She tells him she is going to a party with Adrián. He wishes he could get her something really pretty to wear. She is growing up to be so pretty and looks like there mom more and more. Kiko does not remember how their mom looked. Erasmo says she was just as cute as Estrella. Erasmo is worried she is going to have the worst memories of what should be the happiest times of her life. Estrella tells them that as long as she has them she is rich. Better times are coming. Just they wait and see. Erasmo is going out, too, with Kristel. He puts on some cologne.

Now that Paolo and company have left, we find out the real reason for Ernesto being outside the school. He wants to give Esperanza the name of his best ever internist for Pablo. He will take care of the bills. She says she is greateful to him for the offer and the way he is treating her daughter Pato but she will never take any money from him. Ernesto wants to know what else he is not doing right. Esperanza jumps right in and says the way he is treating his son Adrián. It is one thing to be strict another to insult and humilidate. Ernesto says Adrián will thank him one day. Esperanza tells him he is wrong; Adrián needs love. She finally gets in her car and Ernesto is left with a couple of his own nicely suited thugs (bodyguards).

At the construction site, Erasmo is telling Kristel how they are going to feel they are in Hollywood. They make hand prints in wet cement so that their hands are there forever.

At Luca's house, he and Pato are making out. She tells him they need to slow down and he agrees. More kissy face time. Adrián walks in on them and tries to keep quiet but knocks over a vase that breaks. The maid goes to clean it up. Adrián is worried that his parents will be angry. He gets the maid to agree it is a secret who broke it. Adrián is leaving for the party. More kissy face time. Viviana walks in on them, starts to wheeze and thinks she urgently needs to put her plan into effect.

Adrián and Estrella at the party. Paolo and the whole crew are there. Salma is automatically aggravated to see that Adrián brought Estrella. Estrella prefers not to drink. Salma is her Salma self: rich should stay with the rich/poor should stay with the poor. Adrián and Estrella go off to dance. Salma insists that Adrián is hers. After dancing, Estrella wants to know why Adrián is drinking so much. He starts out with because it is a party . . . then he tells her how boring she is. She wants to go home. He tells her that his driver can take her. Suddenly the inebriated Adrián is more interested in Salma. Estrella Is left standing and staring at it all.

Later that night, Pato arrives home and goes to see her mom Esperanza for some advice. They need to talk about sex. Pato is feeling the pressure because she is a virgin. Esperanza tells her that sex is a sensitive subject for everyone and that since she is still underage she needs take things calmly. Pato just does not know what to do. She thinks that Luca is the man of her dreams. Esperanza tells her there is no need to rush. There are lots of other things novios can share. Esperanza knows she is from another age, but the decision to have sex has to be 100% sure and 100% for love because there are a lot of STD's she needs to protect herself from as well as an unwanted pregnancy. She needs to take her time. If Luca really loves her, he will wait until she is ready. Pato thanks her for being so good with her and loving her so much. They hug.

The next day, Esperanza is driving down the street and sees some movers with a truck and Ricardo directing the unloading. She is so preoccupied she rear ends the car in front of her. The driver comes out and asks her now she could be so stupid. The insults continue as she tells him not to worry because she does have insurance. He does not have the time to wait around for insurance to fix things. Ricardo comes over  posing as Esperanza's brother and  tells the guy he is going to have to wait for the insurance to take care of things. Ricardo talks him out of any action because it was just like a "little kiss" between cars. The guy agrees it was no big deal and leaves. It turns out that just by chance Ricardo will be living just down the street all of a half a block from Esperanza's house. As Ricardo is telling her one more time that he will not stop fighting for their love, Stacy is approaching from behind him watching them very carefully. She pushes Ricardo out of the way and introduces herself as Ricardo's wife. Tracy asks if she is Esperanza.

I thinks we need more of La Sombra. Maybe he can do in some annoying characters.
More later. : )

I was really looking forward to your recap Jarifa and it was well worth the wait. Simply stellar.

Let's begin with your comment "I thinks we need more of La Sombra. Maybe he can do in some annoying characters". Totally agree! Although I must admit I don't see too much true evil here which is a welcome reprieve.

"Esperanza looks like she got the message as the pompous brat leaves" and "Ernesto is left with a couple of his own nicely suited thugs (bodyguards0" were a few of my favorites.

Thoroughly enjoyed “He tells her "over her dead body" would be perfect and a big favor to everybody” and “Ernesto goes too leaving a wheezing Viviana behind writing on her tablet that they left her behind like a dog”... Hmm, maybe Ernesto isn’t quite rotten to the core! I totally concur. That wheezing woman is annoying. Speaking of La Sombra ;)

I find Esperanza's storyline infinitely more interesting than Ricardo's. I am really liking Betty. She seems natural, unaffected and real. I like her children too and am already immersed in their storylines. Not that I don't like Ricardo or his kids but they are just not pulling me in at this point. Tracy appears to be drawn differently than most villains and it will be interesting to see what happens with her character.

Esperanza is right that Ernesto must stop treating his son so shabbily. Adrian does have a lot of growing up to do and needs his father's support not discouragement.

Erasmo is mesmerizing. I pretty much have no idea what he said or did last night, he is so darn handsome, I can't stand it.

Jarifa, you made my day. Thank you!

Diana

Great Jarifa and thank you for the recap

"Paolo grabs her by the arm and she is suddenly surrounded by a group of nicely suited thugs" Errrrrr, that made me really mad.

Estrella is a cute 14 year old and Adrián is a drunk little punk. She needs to stay far away. Well at least they are both teenagers.

Patty is underage and being wined and dined and felt up by a man with a big check book and a bad haircut for all of a week. Why no mention of that Esperanza?

While Tracy will not win mother of the year Ricky is selfish too. Couldn't he have at least warned the kids instead of suddenly uprooting them for a work assignment in another country and to woo his old squeeze?

Diana, thanks! This novela just does not stop randomly expanding with each episode. ITA about Erasmo. He is a cutie. I sure agree that the character of Tracy is different from what I had expected. It would be nice to see her without a pissy face just once.

So,

what kind of therapy is Adrián supposed to be going to? Does he have alcohol problems???? Enquiring minds . . .

Why is Rodrigo so freaked out about La Sombra? Tracy accused Ricardo of putting the family into danger with his decisions. I want the rest of the story!

Paolo has muscle besides a father with a checkbook. That was creepy. Esperanza should have hit the kid upside the head as soon as he touched her.

Thank you, telenovela gods, that Pedro is going to be just a diabetic DJ and not a BLIND diabetic DJ.

Tofie, so true about Ricardo preparing the kids especially with one who is freaked out by the object of his "work" assignment. How long before Esperanza is comfy cozy with the kids? How long will Tracy stay to make them all uncomfortable? I am hoping a good while.

"Paolo has muscle besides a father with a checkbook. That was creepy. Esperanza should have hit the kid upside the head as soon as he touched her". You echoed my sentiments exactly Jarifa! I loathe punks.

tofie, am shaking my head in agreement at "Couldn't he have at least warned the kids instead of suddenly uprooting them for a work assignment in another country and to woo his old squeeze?" It rubs me the wrong way that he criticizes Tracy for traveling yet she never made her family move to accommodate her schedule. He hasn't won me over yet.

Los Angeles, California, EEUU (Not to be confused with Los Angeles, Argentina)

Mei goustan lous guevous rancherous, daddy!

Pato- Mom, even when I look way older, Luca is older than me and after seeing why you decided to talk about love in class, I think is time to talk about sex, what do you wanna know?

I am very excited for tonight, will we see two grown women fighting on the street over a man? Stay tuned!

Pablo, never knew you were a gifted phonetic transcriber. Too funny!

Well... I grew up watching Tiroloco McGraw (Quickdraw) and his donkey Pepe Trueno. He talks like that (in the dubbed version, of course)...

Thanks, Jarifa! As always, the episode was a lot of QTH, but your recap was fantastic.

I was hoping that when they soothed Rodrigo after his nightmare, there would actually be a broken glass on the floor. DUN DUN DUN. Oh, well.

How did Ric manage to move his family across the border so fast? It must have been furnishings from a local place being delivered, since there's absolutely no way they could get movers to load up their house full of stuff, get it through customs, and drive down to whatever city this is set in in such a hurry. Unless being a "secret" agent has even more perks than I think.

Oy, Pato. This dude is too old for you. He seemed to think "take it slower" meant 30 seconds until undressing, instead of 10. And as long as they were chatting, Esperanza should have thrown in some practical advice, too, like get reliable contraception well before you plan to actually go ahead with the sexing, and have condoms.

I like Estrella. She is sensible and sweet and down-to-earth.

When Erasmo insisted he would pay Luca back, I think Luca was trying not to laugh and thinking "three months of your rent is less than I spend on one dinner with my novia, so whatever." Hey, Luca, maybe you could think about paying the builders actual living wages instead of granting them loans/gifts. I mean, Erasmo seems to be working full-time, in a somewhat skilled job, is respected as a good worker, lives cheaply all around, and can't pay the rent for a very modest home? Fix THAT, Saint Luca.

Julia, I, too, was hoping that Rodrigo's nightmare would have been a real event. At the present time, that Is my favorite plot line: La Sombra. Hope to see more of La Sombra soon.

Love your idea of "secret agent perks."

Paola could be La Sombra. Well he is acting like a teenaged mob boss. And do we ever see his dad? Maybe I missed that episode.

Ernesto seems to hate adrian. Maybe if he gives him a body part like luca did he'd treat him better. Is he his son? Sad situation.

Thanks Jarifa.

Late to the party but very thankful for another one of your detailed and witty recaps, Jarifa! Muchas gracias :)

Thanks Jarifa, nice recap.

Looks like Tracy's battle with Esperanza is starting soon. I am really interested in all the characters back story. Thank goodness Esperanza knows about Pedro and his illness, she would be better able to take care of him.

Adriana Noel here

Jarifa, this has been a great read, thank you! Sorry for the belated comment, I am only now catching up with the show and reading as I go.
Completely agree that La Sombra is a good plot, it takes us away from the usual "galan is a business man building a hotel/ working for his father's company/ owning a ranch and nice horses" type of job. And it keeps half the cast in credible danger.
On that note, why do the kids even know that such danger exists? Honesty is one thing, but they are too young to be able to deal with it (see Rodrigo's nightmares).
I'm loving Ernesto and Viviana. I hope they both chocke in their own venom, but not before they entertain us some more.
