Sueño de amor episode #8 March, Thursday 17, 2016- Joy never leaves the Alegría family

I'm posting this for Pablo, everybody welcome and thank him for joining the team!

Everybody loves Richard
While Esperanza and Ricardo argue over the unbelievable coincidence that is having him as a neighbor, and he saying that he did it on purpose, after the bitter incident of the bumper collision, we see a sinister walking figure with a lion like mane and tigress eyes, springing out of the mover's truck, and overhearing his love promises approaches them. It's Kracy!
-Hi, I am Kracy, am his wife (squeezing his arm) and we love each other! Right Richerd? You must be Esperanza, right? MY HUSBAND has told me soooo little about you!

And Esperanza, who speaks english thanks to the VHS lessons of ''English without walls'', edited by Trump University, but sold by Don Francisco on Sábado Gigante, answered:
-Yes, of course, very much thank you! BUT. I was just telling YOUR HUSBAND that I DONT LOVE HIM, and I don't know what language I should use, because he keeps not understanding the ''DONT'' part, his own words not mine... and since I have three jobs, two teens to raise, and a cake to bake, I will be brief so nice to meet you, the pleasure is all yours, and buh bye! Bhu bye!
Brokenhearted, Esperanza gets into her car and drives away with a silent tear running down her cheek. Watch out fellow drivers!

Meanwhile at the Palacios Institute for wealthy minds, Silvana throws a tantrum to Pato, who just wants to know why the hate? Can't we all just get along? Aren't we the future and have the right to knowledge? Yes, but not here, go across the street where you can study for free and leave your seat to someone who really appreciate it and can pay loads of money to make the grades without even carry a book, much less open it. Do you think I am unfair? Well, even if your mother appeals my decisions, that could take months before you can set foot on this premises again.

Hablando del rey de Roma
At home, Esperanza, still shaking after the close encounter of the third kind and feeling her ears hot and red, tells Pedro she has potatoes, carrots, zucchini and overcooked aubergine, to nurture him into wellness again, not only with those delicious vegetables, but with a special concoction of oats mixed with soy milk. After arguing with her son wether staying to care for him or not he assures her he is old enough to survive a whole afternoon alone. She ''hopes'' the Bank will give her ANOTHER loan so she can buy splenda, insulin shots, some cinder blocks for her dream school and with any money left, pay the tuition so Pato can stay in school instead of wandering all day with Luca drinking and dancing and all that they do all the time. Before she leaves, she makes Pedrito guess who is their ''new'' neighbor. None other than Ricardo Alegría Sandoval. That's not coincidence, is destiny!! Says the boy. Or stubborness!

Cut to Richerd house, where he is shown having problems with Roddy, because he misses his friends los angelinos. Me hate Mejicou daddy, because estoy lejous of my amigous!! I can almost see the bullying when he start speaking like that in school. As we can see, the boy soon might be on his mothers side, while Selenita, or ''little moon rock'' sees everything through the pink eyeglasses of her excitement to learn new words like, fachas, chafas, chido, etc., what makes me think she is attending construction worker's school. Anyway, the Alegría family when united, can never be defeated. Viva la familia!

La curiosidad mató al gato
As soon as Esperanza set foot out of her house, the trío of gorrones arrived to babysit sweet boy Pedrito and ask him youthful advise. They want to know where Esperanza is going, but since curiosity killed the cat, she won't tell. And once they are already there why not loot the refrigerator even when they can't find ''normal'' food? Turns out, hunger is the mother of all vices, and they want to start a new business selling tortas rellenas de chilaquil. Just one little thing they forgot: In order to be able to do that, they NEED MONEY!! Oh, the inconvenient!

Kristela, who probably thanks the blue eyed virgin every day for having a father in the construction business where handsome men like Erasmo can work and refresh themselves sprinkling their shirtless hot bods with water, learns from him that he is so poor he needs TWO JOBS just to survive never mind the luxuries! And to forget the bitter taste of the eviction threat, he invites her to dance. Even when Erasmo dislike charity, it feels a lot better having a roof over your head.
And speaking of the poor neighborhood where the Gallos survive, Estrella, who can afford the smartphone bill but not the essentials like rent and services, is visited by Adrián who wants to make amends after the ''bear'' he did in the fancy party, choosing Salma over her, but Kiko Gallo, who is very ''gallo'' despite his size (and his impediment), from his wheelchair, and in a very rude manner, yells asking him to leave his sister alone. I guess Kiko's atrophy is damaging his brain since it is thanks to Adrián that they still live there, tin and cardboard walls or not. Very disappointed, Adrián talks to Luca about not helping ungrateful people in the future and missing therapy and surprise! Big daddy Ernesto overhears their conversation and that's how he finds out the brothers little secret. Adrián, now between angry and disenchanted (both very good excuses) goes to buy alcohol with the help of his chauffer, who took the bribe.
Drinking 90° alcohol can make you end like Kiko, but it doesn't matter, so to quench his other thirst Adrián called Salma, who is at home alone, and invites him over for ''a good time''.

Muerto el perro se acabó la rabia

Silvana, who can turn misogynist the more macho man, wants her husband to help her spy their daughters in social networks, and to end once and for all Kristela's friendship with Erasmo, asks him to fire the boy. Temptation is great, but once ridden of the young man, she is sure they 'wont ever meet again. Mario, who knows that this preposterous idea will never work, avoids more confrontations and just play dead. No more rabies.

Now Ernesto is upset with Adrián because is drinking, and with Luca who is covering for him, of course, Luca ''se le chispoteó'' or, spilled the beans by accident, and now has to fix it. Among flashbacks and selfies, Adrián drowns his sorrows with liquor, but Luca has made a promise to himself because he is sure that his brother can be saved with love. Love that Ernesto doesn't seem to have right now.

En la cara no que de eso vivo

After leaving the refrigerator empty, the three stupeds keep on dreaming su sueño guajiro and head to the pawnshop, because the only one who could help out is Nacho, selling his wedding ring. NO! That's the only thing I have left from my beloved Begoña. The harsh reality says otherwise, so no ring no business, and without the business there won't be any more Begoña... what do you prefer? They are still discussing the topic, when Esperanza shows up fresh as a lettuce, like she is going to any of her three jobs, or the bank, or to sell the car, or to church, juárever. Turns out she is also considering pawning her wedding ring!! The thing is that the three chiflados tell her that very soon they will be selling tortas rellenas de chilaquiles. She becomes highly interested in being their first customer and for that, they want the money in advance. C'mon, where are you going to sell them? Outside the schools where kids have nutritious food services and/or homemade lunch, outside the construction site where workers are so broke they bring their own plastic scrambled eggs to lick them every day?

Osorio, fan of the extreme close ups to clear eyes, gave Guadalupe a break and chose Virgencita de la paz en sus ojos claros and now Esperanza, along with the whole cast and crew, are hardcore fans. We were right. She went to church to pray for strength to fight temptation in the shape of Ricardo's biceps and to find a cure for Pedro, for her students who have bad notes and to change Silvana's cold heart. Virgencita de los ojos azules, gimme wisdom and more strength, tell me if I should sell the car, besides, we need the money, and oh, help my Pato to take better decisions. Inner peace wouldn't be bad also, so I can solve everything else, and please, please help me stay firm on the Ricardo issue, who I wish happiness with his wife Kracy. Amen.

Te comió la lengua el ratón
Later that night, when the kids were sound asleep, Kracy silently takes Ricardo's phone and checks it, finding what she wanted to find. Surprise! Esperanza is not the only name there, Martha and Verónica had been calling too! She hides that from her husband, who happens to hear the clicking of the buttons and the swoosh on the screen, but she denies it. Later, since they are a few steps away from each other, she goes and knocks on Esperanza's door.

-Between! I mean, entre! And right in front of her, A very upset woman slaps her.

Cut to commercials:
Mom! Are you a grandmother?
I dont know, why, are you pregnant?
Noooo! My friends think you are a grandmother because you use a very old toothpaste! They are peer pressuring me to buy CREST!
(I am sorry but this commercial is so dumb I had to include it)

False alarm, it was only wishful thinking. Or those Osorio tricks to mislead you. Instead, Kracy lifts her hand to slap her, but it is stopped cold midair and what follows is a mix of unintelligible blabbery where Esperanza asks if the mouse has got your tongue, the other one, surprised by the reaction, forgot some of her bilingual vocabulary, then makes her ''me no entender'' face, and after Esperanza slams the door on her already small nose, Kracy breaks the fourth wall and says, mouse? Mouse? This woman has a very funny way to communicate!

Les cayó el chahuistle I and II
Pato, thanks to the prayers, now calls her mom to tell her ''santo y seña'' of her whereabouts and also to offer help with her new found daddy and see if all together can save Adrián. Right there Patoluca have their first fight, because Pato thinks is normal between siblings and that she wish he could do more for him but Luca has helped his brother and that is why he is staying with him in the house. Without him there, Adrián could die.

II
While Adrián and Salma were giving themselves into teenptation locking their lips and twisting their tongues, the door opens all of the sudden and guess who enters through the door? Silvana hecha un energúmeno threating them about calling the police and/or his parents, whatever is worse. In that moment, Adrián feels the sky falling on him and when his parents arrive, all becomes chaos.

While Kracy is outside probably still rubbing her wrist, Daddy's princess can not sleep due to the unfamiliar noises. She tries to explain herself saying that nou poede dourmir moucho, well, you know, it is as annoying to hear it as to write it down. Her dad is studying his math because he will be a second grade teacher and need to refesh his memory. Will you be my teacher daddy? Maybe my dear, but since this is a very dangerous mission, you should never reveal my identity. Nobody has to know that I am a secret agent. Si, maestro Ricardou...

Back from church and after the painful incident with Kracy, Esperanza is still reciting Shakespeare with a ''to sell or not to sell'' the station wagon. Seeing how confused she is, Pedro takes the opportunity to tell her about his plan to work as a DJ in a ''antro'', or place where young people reunite. She doesn't support that because first, he is still underage, and second, he is sick. Even sleeping only three hours every night, that is the best option, because it doesn't interfere with his studies. Esperanza doesn't want to carry that weight over her shoulders if something happens to him, but he is so stubborn, that she finally agrees. Besides, he has promised to buy her a huuuge mansion with swimming pool and a butler. I will blame myself for the rest of my life if something goes wrong, but, if you want to do it, alright... do it, just don't skip your insulin shots. Being diabetic shouldn't stop you from reaching your dreams.

Directa y sin escalas

Stil out on the sunken park by the floral clock (BTW what time is it?), PatoLucas enjoy a delicious fruit cocktail with tajín chili powder while discussing parenting skills they could use in their future. Both agree that Ernesto's skills leave a lot to be desired because he tries to control Adrián by hurting him. But, have you noticed how bad he treats him? I have only known him for a couple days and noticed it... Tell me, I know them my whole life.
Oozing syrup they get in the car and stop right in front of Pato's house, without seeing Pedro, who has a prank in mind. He takes out his flashlight and pretending to be a cop, just when they are touching second base, scream so they stop what they're doing. The charges? Lewd behavior and indecency. Pedro is still unaware of this couple sweetness and the damages that could do to his health. Once Pato has left the car, Luca offers him a ride to the club, where he starts working tonight. Don't ever hurt my sister, I am going to the gym! Jokingly tells the boy to his brother in law.

Not far from there, Kristela and Erasmo dance the night away now that the song Chapo wrote for her has already been recorded and is playing on the loudspeakers

Con las manos en la masa
Silvana, who is making a very big deal even when Adrián didn't break in but was invited on a teenagers hormone rage, has called Ernesto and want him to come immediately to pick his son up, because is ahogado de borracho and was caught red handed handling the goods. This is a big pancho, but someone has to do it, and who better than Silvana, who claims the boy induced Salma to drink and was seducing her. A spectacular clash of titans happens when Ernesto meets Silvana and both yell to each other over who is responsible or guilty. You have to come harder on the boy. You don't tell me how to handle my boy!! He needs discipline, Sr de la Colina! Viviana, who was coming down from her clouds, went to save her boy and even when she didn't speak, didn't left without noticing a fake in Silvana's little table.Take your son and never, ever, let him set foot in this house again! My daughter is only 14 and innocent! Don't wrry, he wl never be back, and you know what? She is also a little cap (fichita).

Silvana gets very aggravated seeing that her own husband didn't move a finger during the whole discussion. Such a husband I have!
Once the worse had passed, Salma was able to speak again and scolds her father for the lack of testosterone. My mother shouldn't treat you like this! This is a bear! Qué oso!
To make matters worse, Kristela arrives from seeing Erasmo. Where were you ? If you were with that construction worker, let me tell you that I asked you father to fire him!

It's late and the night is hot, so while Esperanza prepares to go to bed alone, praying the virgin once again for strength to get away from Ricardo, a couple blocks from her in the Alegrías house, Kracy, who probably doesnt even believe in God, sees Richerd and goes oops! My panties fell down... Kracy todo bien? Yes, Richerd, I am just a little hot you know? The heat... Sorry Kracy, but I remember telling you that our thing is over! Really? Well I hate you Richerd, I hate you so much right now!

Destiny has another suprise for both Erasmo and Pedro, because they are looking for a job in the same place and will probably become friends (and rivals?).

Fulana y zutana
Viviana and Silvana were cut by the same scissors
Adrián doesn't know if ts the alcohol, the shame or the age, but he feels really bad right now. His father is treating him excessively hard, while his mother is the complete opposite and theyr'e both discrediting each other. Ernesto, please don't hurt my baby anymore, claims Viviana. You, stop clucking, why don't you loose your voice again?
When Luca finally gets home after a whole day with Pato, Adrián is very upset, because he feels betrayed. I didn't mean it, sorry, se me chispoteó. Adrián runs away from Luca, but keep arguing on the street before a taxi arive o take Adián to where he can feel safe.

Donde comen tres comen cuatro

Hope has the Esperanza that Pato mature soon, since she is barely 17 years old. They have ''the talk'' and Mother swears she never ever had sex with Ricardo. He is the love of her life but went to the US and disapeared. Like in a split screen, Ricardo is having fillers, I mean flashbacks of their relationship and swears she is the only love of his life and that he has never ever loved anybody else besides her, not even Kracy! Right now, i wish she was listening). He also wish to recover her and fulfill their dream love. Besides, he remembers that the shadow is a constant threat and there is more then one because he got him once, but lost him because of an ally who rescued him.
This is been a very long day but from everything that happened to her, Esperanza never thought seeing Adrián ask her to stay here because he had a fight with his parents. What Adrián never thought was to see his teacher with a beauty mask made with oats and soy milk, maybe leltover from Pedritos dinner! Besides the hepatic shock I will give you some strong coffee so you can feel better, and stay the night. I m going to call your parents to tell them you are alright, No! he said, I hate my dad!

I shouldn't be surprised that Pato, right behind Adrián, called Luca to tell him where his brother was, and asked him to come as fast as an invisible superhero could. And voilá, Luca got there in seconds! Alcohol doesn't make problems disappear, you have to face them and fix them. Luca and Adrián hug and promise to go to therapy together. On one condition, that Mom and pop go too because they're the most messed up!

Pablo, thanks for the very entertaining recap! I am glad you were able to join us so soon!

My favorite line from the recap, was the one explaining that Esperanza had learned her English "thanks to the VHS lessons of 'English without walls', edited by Trump University, but sold by Don Francisco on Sábado Gigante, answered . . ." My favorite new name: Kracy. Very funny!

Looks like La Sombra has an accomplice dressed just like him/her. Might La Sombra be a "she"?

My questions of the night: Will Tracy ever not have a pissy look on her face?
Will Mario ever stop cowering in the face of his wife Silvana?
Will La Sombra end up kidnapping Rodrigo which will only prove that he the kid was right in not wanting
to come to México?
Why would Ricardo put his children at risk anyway by informing them that he is really a secret agent and
burden them with keeping the secret?

A lot of funny to keep me guessing.

Thanks, I had to include that ''Inglés sin barreras'' joke. If not now, when, right?

I also forgot to include in the list: hacer un pancho, or make a embarrassing spectacle or scandal.

This is the first time I hear about the torta de chilaquil. I knew the other one, but this one is new (and too extreme) for me. Who could have thought you could mix corn and flour, right?

Pablo, your recap came roaring in, sailing on a furious burst of crisp, cold, refreshing air. Delighted you are here!

I have not had the privilege of reading any of your previous recaps but this was outstanding. Your vocabulary list was excellent and very appreciated.

In addition to what Jarifa noted, I also loved "Kristela, who probably thanks the blue eyed virgin every day for having a father in the construction business where handsome men like Erasmo can work and refresh themselves sprinkling their shirtless hot bods with water" and "Esperanza shows up fresh as a lettuce" (new to me and very "fresh"! Sorry, couldn't help myself...)

Jarifa, I really like Mario. Initially it was frustrating to me that he kept his cool in the face of her fury and verbal assaults. But after I thought about it, I'm rather glad he remains calm - for the children's sake. I get the feeling Silvana can't be reasoned with and I've seen nothing to indicate he doesn't love her (although I can't fathom why!).

That prank Pedro pulled reminded me of things my younger brothers did to me years ago. I am a huge Pedro fan. The actor is knocking it out of the park! I enjoy his scenes with Esperanza more than anything. Except of course any scene Erasmo is in...

Is anyone seeing any chemistry between Kristela and Erasmo? It is eluding me if it's there. Of course, he and Africa blazed in La Malquerida so perhaps it's not fair to compare a whiff of smoke to smoldering passion.

I hope Adrián is able to find his way. Ernesto must shoulder much of the blame for his constant emotional abuse of his son...

I know there are many Ricardo fans here and I respect that. I am just finding the other storylines infinitely more interesting. Perhaps I will change my mind as things develop.

Thank you again!

Diana

I'm slowly getting caught up on the episodes I've recorded and can put names with most of the faces. This is the first recap I've had time to read since the first episode. I hope I'll have the time to keep up with this telenovela!

Pablo - thank you for the recap and the snarky snark! I cannot record Thursday night's episodes because our DVR has prior commitments, that night of the week. So, really, thank you!!!

"Kracy" is a perfect name for her. Sabine is the original crazy-eyes and she does crazy almost better than anyone else. (lol)

Kracy's "english" sounds so strange to my ears. While doing a good job of minimizing her accent, Sabine does not exhale with her pronunciation (as is done when speaking English vs Spanish), so it all sounds like she is deprived of air. Actually,(to me) it sounds more like the voice has been dubbed over. Yeesh. Whatevs. It's just weird sounding.

That principal/headmistress (Silvana?) looks like a Christine Baranski wannabe with glasses, what with the hairstyle, etc. Every time I see her, I do a double-take. Ack.

I kept thinking that Sil reminded me of someone...

doris, your "(Silvana?) looks like a Christine Baranski wannabe" nailed it. Thank you so much!

Diana

This is great Pablo and in my lane. Way better than the show, way better.

"buy splenda, insulin shots, some cinder blocks for her dream school"

If Osorio wants to keep employing his family/friends, he has to come up with all this makeovers.

Kiko didn't use a wheelchair in PEAM and MCET and now he does.
Pedro didn't the bun in MCET now he does
Dr. Crazy eyes (Silvana) changes between PEAM, MCET and this one are notorious. I guess that when your acting range is uniform, the only help is try to change their faces as much as you can to distract.

Pablo, thank you and welcome to the patio. Wonderful recap, a REALLY entertaining read. Looking forward to your next post!!

Thank you. I am getting ready too...

I'm struggling here. I don't like Ricky or Luca at all and have little sympathy for Adrian, a kid that can ride around all day in a limo boozing. I feel bad that Esperanza is still hooked on Ricky, creeped out for Patty and hope Estrella doesn't get into trouble cause Adrain is a train wreck, though at least he is age appropriate.

Tofie, I do not find the characters particularly attractive either. What keeps me coming back is the craziness/goofiness of it all. That is why I want to see more of La Sombra! He is so tacky! I love it! This is another novela that really has cartoonish aspects all over it.

Jarifa, cartoonish was exactly my thought when I hit the publish button. It has that exaggerated feel. Look at Luca's eyebrows, like they were drawn on.

Ay, Pablo, you are a hoot and a half! Moochers gwaciers, like your Tiroloco Kracy would say! :D

Glad you joined the SdA team of merry recappers! ¡Te damos la bienvenida! I'm a fan of your snark-tastic work in PEAM and as luck would have it, your return to the recapping fold is precisamente thanks to another Osorio TN! *Chalking up an extra point for Osorio*

I loved your hilarious retelling of last night's events, especially the idiomatic expressions you sprinkled all over the recap! "Me cayó el chahuistle" is one of my all-time favorite mexicanismos.

Yesterday, Jarifa mentioned that we need more of La Sombra and rightly so. I have a few names to add to his/her list of characters to whack, namely, Pato, Luca, Paulo Rey, Salma and Chunky Elvis from the Three Stooges. The other characters I can live with... for now.

In my humble opinion, the only two couples that have real chemistry in this TN are Esperanza & Ricardo and Viviana & Ernesto. These two pairs play really well off each other and have a good repartee.

One final thought and I have to skidaddle. The kids' faux gringo accent HAS GOT to go!

A quote from the capítulo

"Ya, Viviana,¡deja de cacarear! ¿Por qué no te quedas muda otra vez?"*

*Ernesto has had it with Viviana's blubbering: "That's enough, Viviana, stop clucking! Why don't you go back to being mute?"

Moo-chess grass-yes, Pablo!...as Kracy and the kids would say. I'm glad you decided to go all in on the madness! Your recap is so funny.

I enjoyed Pedro scaring Patoluca by pretending to be a cop.

I don't think most of these couples have much chemistry, but I do like Erasmo's and Kristel's relationship the most, fizzy sparks or not. As in they seem to actually HAVE a relationship, developed though conversations and finding things they enjoy doing together, rather than just bickering or slobbering moonily over each other.

Is it sacrilegious to say that the facial expression on that statue of La Virgen de la Paz was more "WTF, lady?" than "tell me your problems; I'm listening"?

Kracy is probably La Sombra. What exactly does she do that she's only in town 2x a year?

Oooh, that would be a twist for Kracy to be La Sombra. "Saving the wildlife". Nice euphemism. And it would explain why Rod has such accurate nightmares of La Sombra. He's probably seen her sneaking in or out! Ric! The call is coming from inside the house!

I think there might be a whole network of Sombras in matching costumes, one of whom is Junior Thug Who Didn't Pay Attention In Class the Day They Learned the Word "Discretion", from Espe's class.

Anon207, great idea that La Sombra is Tracy! Now who would be the other Sombra look alike? Gotta think on that one. . .

Tofie, come to think of it AMQL was also very cartoonish.. Not so with ACT but again yes with MCET. Not so with PEAM or PESE. Maybe it is a trend we are seeing.

Thanks, Jane. I have not been watching this novela, but I always love your snappy recaps. I am going down memory lane and reminiscing about finding your blog long ago when you were doing solo recaps of Alborada. You, Fernando, and Placido pulled me down into the rabbit hole of telenovelas. I am proud to say that thanks to you and Caraycaray, I actually knew what "hablando del Rey de Rona" meant!

The complete saying goes

Hablando del rey de Roma, y él su cara asoma

Speaking of the Roman king, and he shows up

Anybody knows if ''Speaking of the devil'' has another longer version?

Speak of the devil, and he appears.

That's the full saying.

Adriana Noel here
Pablo, this has been OUTSTANDING! This is the first of your recaps that I'm reading and it was such poor joy - I laughed my heart out, clapping my hands at your snarky wit. You are, indeed, very welcomed to the team!!

I especially loved your dubbing of the kids' bad Spanish - you, my friend, have a gift! Keep those coming, it would be a shame to miss any of your hilarious interpretation of their getting used to Mexicanou life.
Also, LOL at Kracy (so accurate) and Richerd - you were on fire!

I'm rather enjoying Kristel and Erasmo, too, they are the more realistic couple of the series so far (leave it to Osorio to turn the cliche of rich girl-poor boy into the better story in a Cristian de la Fuente is an undercover secret spy (!!!) telenovela)

I kind of agreed with Kike kicking Adrian out of the house, Yeah, he did technically pay for it, but he has been a d!ck to Estrella, what are Erasmo and Kike supppsed to do, kiss his feet and ask for more bad treatment for their sister? Adrian seems to genuinely like her but the booze is getting the better of him. Sadly, I don't see him ending well - another Osorio PSA, surely. Plus, this would probably wipe out that wholesome, saintly smirk off Luca's face. He is just the worst (only next to his adorada Pato).

God, I meant "pure joy"!hahaha
