FATMAGUL: Turkish Episode #76/U.S. #79, Monday, 3/28/16
MUKADDES GETS VOTED OFF THE ISLAND; KERIM RECIEVES IMMUNITY
Part 1:
After reading the suicide letter from Mustafa, Fatmagul sits on the veranda with Kerim and talks to him about how seeing the news of Mustafa’s death on the tv affected her. It was hard for her to comprehend at first. It was like reading the obituary of a stranger. But reading his letter woke her up, and reminded her of EXACTLY who Mustafa was, and all he did to her. “And on top of it all, he wanted to kill you!” Kerim tells her how the Gray Mafia spent the wedding thwarting the hit. “He had lost his mind. A normal person wouldn’t do that sort of thing… He no longer had an escape, and so he wanted me to suffer as well. He wanted to kill you so that I would drown in sadness. He wanted to punish me, as if I were responsible for everything that happened. He only wrote that letter to punish me for the rest of my life. Not because he loved me. He wanted me to feel that he died for me—that I feel regret for everything he had suffered.” Kerim takes her hand and tells her none of this is her fault, but Fatma already knows that. It was HIS decision to end that way, not hers.

In a park in Istanbul overlooking the water, Hacer says her goodbyes to Mustafa with baby Murat at her side, at the same time his funeral is taking place in Ildir. As she walks towards waiting Sami, Serdar calls to tell her the service has ended. He will be bringing her Mustafa’s last effects. He was also told that Mustafa wrote a final letter that was sent. He thinks it was sent to her. Hacer knows in her heart that Fatma was the recipient of that letter, but she can’t help but search the empty mailbox anyway, and get sad, when she and Sami return to the festively decorated apartment with the baby.

Fatma can’t believe that Mustafa didn’t even take his son into account. Kerim speaks about how obsessed Mustafa was with her—that’s why he wrote her every day. Fatma is confused. What does he mean Mustafa wrote her every day? She only got two letters. Kerim mentions the stack of letters under her bed, but says he understands, and backs off from mentioning them. Fatma gets hot, and demands to know if he was hallucinating. He better tell her what the heck he’s talking about, right now! He recounts the day MUKADDES suggested he clear her under-bed storage for the wedding things. Fatma immediately knows who was behind it. She demands to know if that’s why Kerim ran off to Bodrum and froze her out. Before he can really answer, Kadir, Meryem, Rahmi (with Elif) and Mukaddes walk up. Fatma flies off the veranda and starts yanking the hair out of Mukaddes’ head, accusing her of planting the letters, and cussin’ her out. For some reason, the others drag Fatma off her. Fatma manages to grab a few more hanks of hair, and spits at Mukaddes, declaring Mukaddes her enemy. “I don’t want to see you ever again in my life! Get the hell out of my house!”

Mukaddes acts indignant, and accuses Rahmi of not protecting her. Then she threatens him that she’ll take his children and he’ll never see them again, and leaves. Fatma turns to her brother and says he knows what a hell Mukaddes has always made her life. She’s done with her, and she hopes he’s done with her too. He’s her brother and she’d never turn her back on him, but he needs to keep that woman away from her! Rahmi hugs Fatma and tries to calm her down. He promises that Mukaddes won’t ever be back. Then he follows his wife.

Fatma focuses her ire on Kerim once more. She can’t believe he thought she would do that! “You left me without even asking me about it! Is that how you trust me? Is that how you believe in me?!” She runs into the house and into the bedroom to have a good angry cry on the bed. Kadir and Meryem debrief with Kerim. They think Mukaddes is truly sick. M&K go to help Rahmi, and tell Kerim to care for Fatma, but to give her space. He looks in on her in the bedroom, and she asks him to leave her alone, through sobs.


 

FATMAGUL, Monday, Part 2:
At M&K’s house, Mukaddes is making a big show of moving her stuff out. “I’m not staying in place where no one wants me!” She accuses both Meryem and Fatma of just putting on airs and bullying her, now that they’ve married into money. Meryem asks her to listen to herself. SHE’S the one who did wrong and should be asking forgiveness! Mukaddes doesn’t see things that way, of course. Rahmi, who has been sitting there quietly, finally has enough. He tells her to shut up, and go inside their house and stay there, until he gets back. And she better stop hurting his sister and offending M&K. If she doesn’t, he swears to her that he’ll call the police on her, and he’ll tell them all about the dirty deals she made with the Yasaran, and send her to prison! He’s going to find a new house for them right now. Mukaddes sarcastically says he doesn’t have the money. Rahmi points out HE DOES have money—the money from the sale of the dairy and his family’s land, which is HIS and FATMA’S money. He doesn’t need her dirty Yasaran money. She can take that money, and choke on it!

Kadir follows Rahmi and tries to convince him not to make a hasty and angry decision. They’re not asking them to leave. Rahmi’s mind is made up. Things can’t continue this way with Mukaddes, who won’t stop causing problems. And if Mukaddes is living in M&K’s house, Fatma won’t come visit. Rahmi can always go visit his sister. They head to the real estate agent.

Kerim sits in the living room and reads Mustafa’s letter. He resists the urge to rip it up, folds it neatly and puts it back on the table. Fahr calls him and they decide to meet at the workshop, where Kerim is going to interview apprentices, to talk about Mustafa. He goes to the bedroom to tell Fatma he’s leaving. She’s all done crying and walks past him to clean up the broken dishes in the living room. He apologizes, which sets her off again. “Why didn’t you ask me about those letters? Why didn’t you tell me that’s why you left? I went all the way there to look for you. I knew something was wrong. Just looking at you I could tell, and you told me nothing!” Kerim says he didn’t want to make her uncomfortable. “You allowed distance to grow between us, and you told me nothing! That’s why you didn’t believe me that I felt nothing for Mustafa. And you wanted to marry me, despite thinking that Mustafa was on my mind! How could you accept that? And you also didn’t believe me when I said our vows, right? You just pretended to believe me! You thought I was just playing with you, and you played right along. Our marriage is a lie, isn’t Kerim?!” Kerim says he believes in her, blindly. He admits at first after discovering the letters he doubted her love, but then he spoke to Fahr and he helped him see the light. Fatma’s anger grows when she realizes he spoke to Fahr, Meryem, Kadir, and even Emre about those letters. Kerim recognizes there is nothing more he can say that will get him out of the doghouse, and leaves.

After he leaves, Fatma starts furiously cleaning the already spotless house. She is short with Meryem on the phone, who explains they were suspicious of Mukaddes, but apologizes for believing even a bit that Fatma hid those letters. Fatma is worried Rahmi is mad at her for ripping into Mukaddes, but is happy to hear he went searching for a new house. Fatma takes Mustafa’s letter, starts to throw it away, and instead burns it to ash, just like their house. Deniz and Emre pass by to deliver the developed wedding photos. Seeing the happy photos of herself and Kerim finally puts a smile back on Fatma’s face.

 

FATMAGUL, Monday, Part 3:
In the workshop, Fahr completely agrees with Fatma that Kerim was an idiot. He doesn’t feel comfortable going back to Australia now, leaving things in such bad shape between F&K. He suggests that when everything is over, F&K immigrate to Australia to start afresh. No one knows them there. They could both go to university. Kerim isn’t sold on the idea. They have their lives, home and work here. Fahr thinks they could make a better life for their kids in Australia. Kerim seems doubtful about there ever being any kids.

The Yasaran are getting hounded by the press, but have to escape the hospital via taxi, since all their fancy cars have been embargoed. (Bwahaha!) In Yunanistan, newly dark-haired Selim scopes out and befriends a Turkish fisherman. He lies that he’s a starving student, and eager to get back home to Turkey.

In prison, Erdogan writes his confession of the rape and events following it. He sees a vision of his father in his cell, that tells him to confess EVERYTHING and start from BEFORE that night. He starts with the slap Resat gave him in front of the family a few says before the engagement party-- the slap that started the chain reaction of his anger and hatred towards his uncle, his desire for vengeance, his resentment of his cousin, and his desire to use Selim to get revenge on Resat by ruining him. His actions and hatred then provoked the death of his father. Erdogan weeps and calls out to his father, asking if all of this is his fault.

That evening, Kerim walks up the hill to the house with a big bouquet of “get out of the doghouse at any cost” flowers. He panics and runs up to the house when he sees it’s completely dark. He calls out Fatma’s name. Suddenly, the lights all go on and she appears from the side of the house. A fuse blew. Kerim breathes a sigh of relief that she has not left him. Fatma nonchalantly accepts the flowers with a smile, thanks him, and tells him dinner is ready. Kerim hugs her gratefully. She tells him she burned the letter. In her home with him, she’s starting a new life. It’s a rebirth. He hugs her again and tells her how much he loves her, and thanks her for forgiving him. They sit down to the delicious feast Fatma has prepared, and later look through the new albums Fatma put together with their wedding photos.

Rahmi delays going home, and sits by the water thinking instead. Despite having assured Kadir earlier that he would wait on selecting a house to rent, he admits to Meryem on the phone that he went ahead and leased an apartment. Mukaddes is livid, but Rahmi hangs up on her when she gets on the phone.

Out on the town that evening, Meltem breaks a heel going into a club to meet Gaye, and is rescued by a prince. Well, a rich, successful guy she met at a wedding a few years back. He’s polite, a gentleman, nice, has his own business, plays in a band, and totally gaga for her. He drives her home, and scores a date with her for the following night (he calls his assistant and has her cancel his business trip for the next day). Meltem gushes to Ender that it’s love at first sight. Ender tells her to slow down. But by the next week, after a series of marathon dates, they are both declaring their love for each other.

 

FATMAGUL, Monday, Part 4:
Rahmi gets home and tells Mukaddes how ashamed he is by her behavior, and wonders what she has against his sister. Of course, she doesn’t answer, and starts to badmouth Fatma some more. Rahmi tells her to zip it, and informs her they are moving to the apartment HE chose.

On night #3 in their new home, our couple is much more in sync and at ease as they get ready for bed. Fatma puts her head on Kerim’s chest and he puts his arm around her. He admits his fear that she had left when he saw the dark house. He kisses her and tells her to go to sleep—it was a hard day. They chat about his family heading back to Australia next week on the 13th. Despite having exams on that day and the day after, Fatma decides they will host a goodbye bbq at their home for his family.

A week later, Fatma emerges from her exam and tells Kerim and Deniz that she aced it. Fatma is sad that Rahmi, Mukaddes and the kids will move tomorrow, and won’t be at the bbq that night. Kerim tells her it’s for the best. In their new apartment, Mukaddes surprises Rahmi, who’s there painting. She finds him having tea and laughing with their new landlady, who lives in the apartment above them. She’s an attractive widow, with a sweet personality. Mukaddes is instantly jealous.

Papa Bear Fahr is tending the grill during the farewell bbq, so that no one will see his tears. Kerim hugs him and tells him they will see each other soon. Fatma emerges from the house with Mothers’ Day gifts from her and Kerim for Meryem and Jenny. Emre sadly shares that he has heard back from the army, and is no longer fit to serve. Rahmi makes a surprise appearance to say goodbye to the Australian Ilgaz, but he turns down all invitations to stay or to even take food to go. Fatma is extremely saddened by this. Kerim hugs her and tells her everything will get better with time, and she will see Rahmi and the kids more often. Meryem checks in with Fatma during a private moment in the kitchen, and Fatma happily assures her that all is well between her and Kerim. F&K smile at each other. They all take happy group photos, that immediately go on the walls of their homes.

At the empty big house, Mukaddes wanders around bitterly and curses F&K-- even shattering the glass on one of their wedding photos in the front hall.

 

FATMAGUL, Monday, Part 5:
It’s May 24th, and Mukaddes and Rahmi are now settled into their apartment. Mukaddes is of course unhappy. She’s even less happy when the cheery landlady asks Rahmi to be her assistant in running things in the building.

On a Turkish beach, Ayse is offering tourists boat trips to the Greek islands, when Selim walks up. He explains that he got a ride back to Turkey with a fisherman. She’s paranoid about being seen with him, so they meet later in a secluded area. She doesn’t want to get involved in his mess again, because she could end up in jail. She doesn’t make any promises to help him.

Hilmiye finally gets to see Erdogan. He tells her he’s been speaking to his dead daddy and that it’s done him good. He slips her his confession of all the Yasaran crimes, and tells her to use it, if Munir and Resat try to throw him under the bus. Munir, meanwhile, is busy going around to Resat’s banking contacts to play on their sympathy for Resat, and con them out of their money.

Resat is out of the hospital, using a cane, and slurring his words. But he’s more humiliated by the fact that he, Perihan and Hilmiye are living in the house of their former maid, Yadigar. He goes for a walk with one of his hired men (who hasn’t been paid and is scouring the job ads). Resat tells his hired man that he has to speak to that girl, Fatmagul, and wants him to find a way to make it happen. He’s got nothing to lose.

Deniz sends F&K open-ended plane tickets to Australia. They want them to visit in June, as a honeymoon trip. Fatma and Kerim are excited about it, but can’t yet set a date.

Hacer shows up at the restaurant with the baby, to tell them she’s leaving for Germany (with Sami) to divorce her first husband, but she will be back for the trial. They all admire the baby and share their blessings. Rahmi asks his name. “His father wanted him to be named Murat.” Awkward silence. Rahmi and Meryem leave Fatma alone with Hacer and the baby. After beating around the bush, Hacer finally asks Fatma what Mustafa wrote in the letter. They only thing she has of Mustafa is his ring. She will make up another story for her son. She will never tell him that his father never loved her. She will tell him about a Mustafa who never knew the Yasaran. Fatma doesn’t talk about the letter, but instead calls the baby beautiful, kisses him, and caresses his little hand- likely picturing the baby she and Mustafa might have had. Fatma watches from the doorway as Hacer and baby Murat get in Sami’s cab and drive away.

-End of episode.

 

Eva

It appears there's no Eva tonight, instead some special of El Señor de los Cielos. Unclear what that is: first episode, a whole hour of promotions for what will actually begin tomorrow? Anyway, since, as I said before, I'm not hanging in for El Señor de los Depends, I won't be watching the new season of this one.

So, no Eva recap from me. I'll try to do one later in the week, although it might be difficult. Spanish class Wednesday and Book Club Thursday.

Interestingly enough my English language book group this Thursday will be discussing Prayers for the Stolen, written in English, that deals with a young girl growing up in Guerrero, in México. The girls in this town have their hair cut short and they dress like boys, because every pretty girl is kidnapped by the narcos to use as sex slaves. Interesting book.

Asu...give it up. MEstafa didnt care about you. Guess she was thinking he had a change of heart afterall and left her a letter. She too needed MEstafa to die. That way she can move on with her life.

Nett- Hacer really was pathetic as she checked the mailbox hopefully, and then actually asked Fatma what the letter said! I really couldn't believe that. Yeah, he needed to die so that she could be free of him too. Not so sure about her plan to lie to the kid about his bio-dad. Seems like it would be pretty easy for him to google it one day, and find out his mom is a big fat liar.

So many things to savor from today's ep:

1) Fatma finally putting the hammer down on Mukaddes. The face Fatma made when she saw Mukkades round the hill to her house after she found out about the letters told you Fatma was gonna knock Mukaddes out for that awful stunt she pulled making Kerim think she was having an emotional affair with Mustafa. Mukaddes was very lucky Kerim grabbed Fatma because it was was gonna be on like Donkey Kong. And while I don't condone violence, Mukaddes deserved it. Kerim was gonna cancel the wedding or even divorce Fatma when he went to Bodrum if Fahrettin hadn't told Kerim Fatma's love is genuine. Two years of hard fought trust and love nearly destroyed because of Mukaddes' hatred and pettiness. Add to this Mukaddes

Rahmi FINALLY telling Mukaddes to stop being a jerk to Fatma. I loved it when he told her he had clean money from selling the dairy and the family land and didn't need her dirty Yasaran money.

Even in their anger Rahmi and Fatma are smart and logical; Fatma was upset that Kerim told everyone about the letters except her leading others to think she's untrustworthy when a five minute conversation with HER would've resolved all doubts; Rahmi said they had to leave Kadir and Meryem's house because if Mukaddes was there, Fatma would never visit them. He knew he finally had to separate Mukaddes' poison from Fatma once and for all.

In Kerim's defense, after he and Fatma came back from Bodrum he was going to ask Fatma about the letters but Meryem and Kadir told him not to so as not to "upset" Fatma.

Thumbs down things:

Hacer needs to regain her dignity and fast. Mustafa told her point blank she was a random-a rebound, second best choice and she's still pining away hoping he didn't mean it. He showed her who he was but she still does not believe him.

That bit about not telling baby Murat about who is father was had me rolling my eyes far back in my head. Hacer's gonna continue the delusion to another generation. Good grief.

Mukaddes' pity party acting as is she was Fatma's victim. This from the woman who gave evidence of her cuñada rape to the prepretrators in exchange for money. Everyone has had the patience of Job with Mukaddes and she needs to get over herself.

J- Loved all your observations. All the things you pulled out are things that struck me too.

Kerim should have let Fatma have her way with Mukaddes a little longer. :) But I was as relieved as Kerim was that her anger at him subsided very quickly. I did chuckle when he looked like he was going to pass out when he came home to that dark house.

The way that Kerim looks at Fatma and reacts to her emotions--he never ignores her and is appreciative of any affection she gives him because he knows her history as a rape survivor--is why I love Engin Akyurek as a galan. Even when Fatma laid her head on his chest/shoulder the third night they were in bed, the way he sighed and smiled gently in delight at that simple gesture can make any woman melt.

I thought the flowers to get out of the doghouse thing, and Fatma talking on the phone to Meryem chastising her about the letters was very true-to-life, which is what makes this tn so successful. You can imagine a scene like that replicated all over the world in different cultures.

Iam without a keyboard and can not type the way I want and get everything out. Also...Ive lost all Ive typed on this device many times so Im disapponted that this epi aired while Im mobile.


Anyway Ive waited on Mukas demise from the beginning and was disapponted her beat down was not more severe. Where is Seli when u need him..because she needed the kind of beatdown he gave her . I dont believe in men hitting woman but she needed to be drugged by the hair and thrown down the stairs the way he would have done.

So rhami made me proud and disappointed at the same time. Glad he finally stood up to Muka....but his statement about the police and Ys confused me. When did he learn about Mukas dirty money...when Ebe made Muka confess or when they started prepping for the trial?

.I felt like he should have been standing up for Fatma all along against Muka...especially after he found out her role in the cover up.Also when Ebe was stressing about what to do about money...he said he would get a job. He should have made Muka spend the money from the house and land sale if nothing else.

While I get that he's suppose to be fed up now with Muka...the strength and intellect and awareness he displayed when he checked her did not match the character and demeaner he has historically displayed. And from the point he knew about Mukas dirt... and he has his own money...he should have started checking her.

J... I said it before...everyone deciding or urging Kerim not discuss this is what drug this out and let Mukas trick work. Oh how I hate her. And she is still living in denial. Instead of moving those things back into the house...Ebe should have slapped her for sitting there crying and playing the victim. She got busted and was still spewing lies and saying she knew Fatma would change.

She wants to stay in kadirs mansion and freeload but yet she continues to do disgusting things to the people around her and to people he cares about. She is truly delussional.

Nett- I was frustrating that everyone encouraged Kerim to not bring up the letters, so as not to upset Fatma or intrude on her privacy. But I don't see that as a sign of Mukaddes being successful, because despite thinking Fatma was reading and saving those letters, Kerim decided that there was a place for Mustafa is Fatma's life, that he had no business interfering with. To me, it was a good sign that he could both finally accept that Fatma loves him, while accepting that Mustafa held an important place in her life. This means that Mukaddes' plan utterly backfired. Yes, it would have been nice to have her perfidy revealed sooner. But maybe not, because it would have ruined F&K's wedding had there been the current painful and deep rift in the family during the wedding. Everything at the right time.

Vivi...u have a point about a family fight b4 the wedding. Did u see my question about rhami. Im not clear when he knew everything. I know muka controls him but still think his reaction was out of character. If thats the case...he should have reacted sooner.

Nett- I think Rahmi is typically averse to conflict. He hates it. He would much rather give in to Mukaddes than fight with her. He also usually believes others are smarter than him and know best, so he goes along with their decisions. He's slow, but he's not stupid, and he has picked up on and learned much over the last two years.

I don't think in the beginning he knew what Mukaddes was really up to, but they all learned eventually how much she worked behind the scenes with the Yasaran (and they continue to learn more). For the sake of the family, NONE of them (Fatma, Kerim, Meryem, Kadir) have ever threatened to charge Mukaddes with the crimes she's committed, so I don't think it's odd that Rahmi never did until now. They all know most of what Mukaddes did. She got immunity from the family simply because she's Rahmi's wife, and Murat's and Elif's mother.

But we have also seen time and again, that when he's pushed, Rahmi reacts in the very typical macho ways of his culture-- when he beat Erdogan when he grabbed Fatma; and when he attacked those neighbors after they stoned Kadir. I wasn't surprised that he finally reacted to Mukaddes this episode, after he found out what she did, by falling back on default macho reactions-- "I'm the man, I'll decide where we live, go into the house, and shut up!" It doesn't take a genius to react like that. It's very primitive/caveman. But it's the only language that works with Mukaddes, so I'm fine with it.

Nett, I totally agree with Vivi on how everyone in the household gave Mukaddes a pass on the majority of her behavior because she was Elif's and Murat's mom. Mukaddes has been preggers/caring for a new child since she has been in Istanbul, so every one in the household overlooked her bad behavior, including lawyers Kadir and Omer, who could've really stuck it to her on selling out Fatma in the first place by giving Selim's ring in exchange for money, because she was caring for a baby. So, I'm not disappointed in Rahmi. Everyone has coddled Mukaddes, and now Rahmi, who is her hubby and should check her, has decided "Enough" after seeing her utter depravity, and everyone agreed. Mukaddes does need a firm hand to tell her to sit down and hush, and Rahmi is finally realizing he has to be that firm hand or Mukaddes will wreck havoc.
 

Fatma: Thanks for the recap. I, too, was disappointed Muka wasn't beaten up to a pulp. Fatma was so enraged she could have pulled it off. Mukaddes is the feminine version of Mustafa, it's everybody's fault and especially not hers. Even rapist Erdogan "seems" to have regret and still Muka is in her own world. Did you noticed how excited Muka was when she thought Kerim and Fatma were fighting? Rahmi is finally fed up, good for him. The bed scene had me smiling like a fool. I loved it. I loved how at ease Fatma is around her hubby. She took off her robe and settled on his chest casual but huge. That's my girl. And Kerim the way he paused and looked at her as if he can't believe she did that twisted my heart and put a smile on my face. I am sad 4 Turkish episodes to go

Romy- Yes, that bed scene was swoon-worthy. Love seeing F&K so comfortable and connected with each other-- emotionally and physically. And every time Fatma pushes the physical connection further, Kerim is so elated. It's adorable.

As for Erdogan, he's definitely not contrite or crying over what he did to Fatma. But unlike Mukaddes and Mustafa, he's having a real moment of introspection and he can clearly see and accept how HIS actions started, connected, and propelled all these horrible events.
 

Fatma: Yes, Vivi he is not crying but at least he is accepting blame for his evil act but Muka? Nopis. I love how our couple is now too bad we can not have more than 4 episodes to enjoy but then again, writers think a happy couple is boring not this one. Now the the Yasarans are going under they all are finding their consciences, too late.
 

FATMAGUL: Turkish Episode #77/U.S. #80, Tuesday, 3/29/16
ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST
Part 1:
Fatma surprises Kerim and his workers with a picnic lunch. She also surprises Kerim by showing him she passed her written driver’s test. Yay! Now, she needs to take the road test tomorrow. One of Kerim’s satisfied clients arrives, asks Kerim to come do some work at his home outside the city over the weekend, and invites Fatma along. Fatma doesn’t want to leave Meryem alone with all the work at the restaurant, but Kerim is sure Meryem will happily give her blessing. It will be like a mini-honeymoon.

Mukaddes shows her face at restaurant, but makes a big deal about not entering to Rahmi. “I have to wait at the door, like a beggar!...He who laughs last, laughs best. The day will come when they’ll all beg for MY forgiveness!” (Mukaddes has now taken over from Mustafa as the most delusional character.)

Suddenly, Resat shows up. He hobbles to the door, as Meryem and Rahmi look on in shock. Mukaddes rushes up right behind him to get all up in the business. Resat says he wants to ask Fatmagul for forgiveness. He’s come to put himself at her feet to apologize. His conscience is suffering. Meryem and Rahmi aren’t moved. They tell him Fatma isn’t there, and tell him to beat it. “It’s too late for that. Not after all the pain you caused her. If you really were sorry for all you did, then you wouldn’t come here bothering Fatma. Show her, by telling the whole truth in court!” Resat claims he’s already being punished. He lost his wife, his money, and his health. “If I’m sentenced in this condition…” Now Meryem and Rahmi know he just came because he’s scared for his well-being in prison and scared of Fatma. Meryem tells him to get out!

Before he leaves, Resat addresses Mukaddes. “Everything is your fault. I found out from you what had happened. Before I knew anything, you started to negotiate with me. You didn’t even leave me time to think. You told me I had the option to negotiate. YOU wanted to save Selim before I did! You’re the one responsible for everything!” He leaves, and Meryem and Rahmi can barely look at Mukaddes before they turn their backs on her and go back to work. She claims loudly that Resat is lying, and gets offended that they believe Resat’s and Kerim’s version of events, but don’t believe her.

Mukaddes leaves, sits in a park muttering to herself like a nut, and then calls Perihan. She complains to Perihan about the supposed shabby treatment she just received from Resat, revealing to a shocked Perihan that he went to apologize to Fatma. “You won’t win anything trying to throw me under the bus...Your son is free because of me…I did what I thought was right for everyone!” Mukaddes threatens to reveal more dirt on the Yasaran in court if they mess with her.

Fatma is walking home through her hood. She endures the usual stares and cold shoulders from the men in the café and the other neighbors, but she gets really hurt when she says hello to neighbor girl Esma, who ignores her and keeps walking towards another neighbor. The other woman asks if she was speaking with Fatma, and she denies it.

 

FATMAGUL, Tuesday, Part 2:
Meryem confers with Kadir and Omer about Resat’s visit. They figure he must be plotting something, and decide to see the D.A. to report it. Fatma calls Meryem, and instead of telling her about Resat over the phone, Meyrem invites F&K over to Casa M&K for a grilled fish dinner. Esma comes over to F&K’s to apologize to Fatma for her earlier behavior, and to apologize for all the neighbors in general. Fatma doesn’t care about the others, but really hoped she and Esma could be friends. Esma hugs her, says they are friends, and accepts sitting down for coffee, since both her parents aren’t home. Unfortunately, almost as soon as she sits down on F&K’s veranda, her father, Sukru, arrives home.

Esma’s mom is actually hanging out with Rahmi’s landlady. They are gossiping about Mukaddes and Rahmi, really Mukaddes. “Her husband is a good man, but she’s a bit…” They are interrupted by Mukaddes arriving home, and of course she knows they were gossiping about her, and she’s not happy. “You speak behind my back about Fatmagul, but you don’t know that I’m a victim too!” She goes into her apartment and complains to herself about being trapped, while Fatma is enjoying her life.

Esma and Fatma talk about the fact that both of them had to drop their ambitions of finishing high school and going to university, to take on their family obligations—cooking, cleaning, childcare. Fatma speaks to Esme about now working on finishing secondary school, and eventually going to university. Esma doesn’t agree with the way her parents think, but as their daughter, she can’t give her opinion. “I admire you for fighting for your rights.”

Next door, Esma’s parents wonder where the heck she is. They get a hunch and go to F&K’s. Her father drags and pushes her home, in between smacking, kicking, and beating her. Fatma screams at him, begging him to leave Esma alone, and says it’s her fault Esma came over. Esma’s father doesn’t care to listen, and Fatma is left crying and traumatized in front of her house.

Fatma’s told the story to M&K and Kerim over dinner in M&K’s yard. Fatma wished the Yasaran were all in jail for what they did. That way, she could walk through her neighborhood with her head held high. Meryem reminds her that she already does. Fatma can’t believe that man beat his daughter just for speaking to her. And she couldn’t do anything to stop him. She feels like he was really beating her. Kadir tells her, “It’s not because of you—it’s because of their ignorance.” The talk turns back to Resat and his visit. They need to figure out what he’s plotting. Meryem thinks at least his wife Perihan is decent, but Kadir thinks that if she were, she’d have told the whole truth at the trial.

At (Yadigar’s) home, Perihan questions Resat about his visit to Fatma to ask forgiveness. She’s sure he’s plotting something. “I’m finished, Perihan! Yes, I went to ask her forgiveness! What more could I lose? My dignity?” Clearly, he believes he’s already lost that. Munir shows up, with documents for Perihan to sign to supposedly sell her house in Cannes. He claims to be working hard for them, which is why he hasn’t been around much and hasn’t visited Erdogan in jail. Later, Perihan and Hilmiye talk. They can’t believe Resat would think that Fatma would forgive him, after all that they’ve done to her. They know she’ll never give up. But, if it’s their only hope…perhaps her sister-in-law, Mukaddes, can help them…

 

FATMAGUL, Tuesday, Part 3:
Rahmi is getting Murat ready to go to M&K’s for the fish dinner, but Mukaddes is protesting letting Murat goes. Murat stomps his foot, and goes to his father’s side. “I want to see my aunt!” Mukaddes starts to whine about her lot in life and evil Fatma, and Rahmi reminds her they’re all in this situation because of her. He leaves with Murat. Mukaddes stews. “You’ll pay for this, Rahmi.” Perihan calls her. “Is there something you can do for us? Can you convince Fatma?” Mukaddes says they can help each other mutually in the trial. If her name isn’t mentioned, she can say that Resat is totally innocent. She tells Perihan to wait for her call. Meanwhile, Resat checks all his bank and investment accounts, and finds the passwords changed and/or that the accounts no longer exist! He’s been robbed!

M&K encourage Fatma to go away with Kerim for the weekend. They toast to Kadir’s healed arm, and Fatma’s successful driver’s test. Murat and Rahmi show up, which makes everyone even happier. Murat is sad that his mother and Fatma are fighting, and that he no longer lives with M&K. He misses the garden/yard. M&K tell him he can come and play in the yard whenever he wants, with his friends. Murat wants to know why Fatma doesn’t want them there (according to Mukaddes). “Your mother hurt me. But I promise we’ll always be together, until the last days of our lives, no matter where we are.” Murat wants to include Elif. “With Elif too, my love.” The next day, Fatma frets about what Murat said. She knows Mukaddes is trying to turn him against her, and she couldn’t live if he thought she was a bad person.

Fatma takes her road test, with two instructors in the car. Kerim gives her some last minute coaching from the curb and encouragement. While she’s out driving, Kerim’s client, Mr. Osman, calls to cancel the weekend work at his house because his suegra is sick. Kerim doesn’t tell Fatma when she returns and declares she passed. “You’ve achieved another goal, Fatmagul. Well done, my love!” He later calls the cabins/hotel where he and Fatma spent that rainy fall night and books a cabin. The owner remembers them, and wants to know if they want 2 rooms. LOL! Kerim tells him they finally had their wedding, and one room/cabin is fine.

Sinem, Fatma’s reporter friend, visits the restaurant. She was traveling in the U.S for work training. She admires F&K’s wedding photo, and both she and Fatma wishes she could have been there. Sinem tells Fatma that she’d like to write a book based on her story. Fatma is wary. She feels like everyone knows her story after all the news stories, and she really doesn’t want that kind of media circus all over again. Sinem thinks a book would allow Fatma to delve deeper into her story—a chance to talk about her feelings, and the obstacles she overcame “You could help many women.” Meryem agrees. Fatma wants to speak to Kerim and Kadir first and get their opinion.

Yasar joins Erdogan in prison. Erdogan wants to know what Munir promised him, in exchange for Yasar’s statements about Erdogan being the only one to blame. He tells Yasar that Munir and the Yasaran are flat broke, so any promises Munir made him are hollow.

Munir has just changed all of Resat’s money into dollars, and is walking out of the bank with a case full of cash, when Resat, Perihan and Yadigar pull up in a car. They confront him, and tell him they followed him. Resat knows that Munir has been going around town trading on Resat’s name, and supposedly raising money for his cause. Resat grabs the case and demands his money. Munir pretends he doesn’t know what they’re talking about, but then gives up his hold on the case. “Get out of my sight, worm! I’ll call the police, and everyone who gave you money. I don’t want to see you ever again!” Resat and the women drive away, leaving Munir empty-handed.

 

FATMAGUL, Tuesday, Part 4:
Meltem’s new beau surprises her with a tuxedo, a fancy dinner at his place, and a little black box containing a large diamond ring. “Meltem, will you be my wife?.. I know it’s hard for you to trust again. I want to make you happy, if you’ll let me.” Meltem says yes. Later she tells Ender how scared she is. Ender thinks she’s chosen wisely this time, but tells Meltem to be her own woman this time around. “You’re the one who controls your life.”

As Fatma and Kerim pack for their weekend trip, Kerim asks if she’s decided to write the book with Sinem. Fatma says, “It’s not just my story, but also yours…I’ll be speaking for you too.” Kerim feels she should do it, and tell the whole, unvarnished truth. The next morning, as they leave for their trip, they see beat up Esma taking out the trash. Kerim gets angry seeing the bruises, and wants to confront the man then and there. Fatma holds him back, and sadly comments on the many nightmares the weak/defenseless live through in their own homes, every day.

Meryem chats on the phone with Kadir and Omer, who are off to speak to the police and then the D.A., about Resat. Rahmi and the kids arrive at the restaurant, since Mukaddes is apparently taking a personal day. As they drive out of town, Fatma and Kerim spot Mukaddes at the bust stop. Fatma contemplates calling Rahmi, but Kerim points out the kids aren’t with her, and it’s not their business. Mukaddes calls Perihan to get Yadigar’s address. She’s on her way over now.

At Yadigar’s house, the Yasaran get jumpy when the doorbell rings. Resat gets riled up, thinking it’s that snake, Munir. They open the door, and it’s Selim! Perihan hugs him and cries. Even Resat gets misty and hugs him, even as he calls him stupid for coming back. Outside, Munir has spotted the visitor. He calls the cops and makes an anonymous tip about a crime.

 

FATMAGUL, Tuesday, Part 5:
On the road to the hotel, Kerim finally tells Fatma that he doesn’t have to work, and they have the whole day together to do whatever they want. Fatma says they came for nothing, but smiles when Kerim says he wanted to be with her. He reminds her of the rainy night they got stuck in the hotel. He hasn’t been able to get that night out of his head, and has dreamed of coming back under different circumstances. Fatma as well. He puts his hand on hers, and she bossily tells him a good driver keeps BOTH their hands on the wheel! Kerim pulls over, and encourages new driver Fatma to drive them the rest of the way. He kicks back, proudly watches his wife drive, and says, “Now I can enjoy the trip!”

Selim takes a much needed shower and washes the dark color out of his hair. He can now fit Resat’s clothes and they all comment on how much weight he’s lost. He explains about hitching a ride on a fishing boat, and then getting help from Ayse the rest of the way home. Resat catches him up, “Your worm of an uncle scammed me and my friends and ran off with our money!” Mukaddes calls from outside, and Perihan realizes she totally forgot about her. Selim hides. When they look out the window, they see a stream of police cars pulling up behind a very scared Mukaddes. The police jump out of their cars, surround and enter the house, and give chase when Selim tries to escape through the back. They catch him easily. The police march him, Resat, Perihan, Hilmiye, and Yadigar into squad cars. Munir pretends to just be arriving, and acts like he plans to help them. Omer and Kadir arrived with the police, as they were with them when the anonymous tip came in. Mukaddes claims SHE was the one who tipped off the police. Munir gives her side eye. Kadir and Omer point out that it was a man who made the tip. Mukaddes claims she asked a random man on the street to do it for her, after she arrived and saw something suspicious. She has no good reason for why she was there in the first place.

F&K arrive at the hotel. He teases her about her driving, but then tells her she’s did great. The owner takes them to their cabin, and says he prepared the same one they had the last time. They happily hand him their new marriage certificate for registration, and then enter the sun-drenched room. It’s the same room, but seen through very different eyes from the nervous and uncomfortable Fatma and Kerim of that cold, rainy night. They can’t stop smiling as they look around the familiar, charming room, with its big, inviting bed. This time, it holds a much different meaning.

Nett- Glad limited technology isn't stopping you from commenting. Yeah, Resat's apology was so obviously self-serving. Can't believe he thought that might work. As for Perihan, I so agree. Now that the noose is tightening, even she is trying one last time to keep her menfolk out of prison. Not even Resat's current weakened condition is enough reason to try to keep him free. Not after he has destroyed so many lives, not just Fatma's.

EVA LA TRAILERA - MARTES - Parte 1 de 3

The episode begins where the previous one left off: Evencio confirms to Pablo and JJ that El Chivo, the guy in the video, was the "nurse" who dropped the syringe on the stairs the night Carmen died.

We switch to another scene we saw last time: Eva standing outside Fabi's hospital room talking with her on the phone and showing her the white outline of a heart that she had drawn on the lawn. Fabi will always be in her heart, and Eva promises to come to the white heart every day at 3 PM, so she and Fabi can see each other. Fabi is very happy. However, two nurses come into Fabi's room and one of them tells Adriana that she has to leave, the session is over. Presumably this also means that Fabi will no longer be able to use Adriana's cell phone to talk with Eva. Adri pleads with the nurse for more time, but the nurse is adamant: the director has issued the order. The nurse who had overheard Fabi earlier looks appropriately sad. I still think she's likely to be an ally. Fabi quickly finishes a picture she has drawn and holds it up at the window for Eva to see. Fabi then gives it to Adri to give to Eva. The picture shows a large red heart with what looks like a happy girl in the center of the heart.

Martin has taken Federica out to dinner. She is somewhat nervous about his being so demonstrative in public, whereupon he announces to people nearby that he is in love! Eventually the conversation turns to Federica's wish that Martin help her two friends in prison who have been convicted unjustly.

Meanwhile, Andy and Marlene have paid a visit to Robert and Cinthia Monteverde. Andy says it's clear that the Morgollóns alive are a big problem for the Monteverdes, but if they were dead, that would be a great solution to the Monteverdes' financial problems. If the Morgollóns were dead, Bobby would be a multimillionaire. Cinthia expresses horror at what Andy is suggesting, and Robert declares that they are not assassins. Andy says he is just speaking hypothetically of a hypothetical murder. Marlene, too, stresses that Andy is speaking only hypothetically. She goes on to point out that everyone dies, and sometimes people die in unfortunate accidents.

Marlene and Andy then leave, and after they're out the door they both express contempt for the cowardly Monteverdes. Marlene asks her brother whether Cinthia was interested (entusiasmada) in him. Andy says that Cinthia wouldn't be bad, but that she'd be better with $300,000,000.

The scene changes to Pancho's office, where he is meeting with his lawyer and various board members to discuss the sudden rash of food poisoning among people who ate PanchoPan sausages. He wants to know what has caused this. He is told that everything was the same as always: the providers, the ingredients, the process, etc. He recognizes that if they can't get to the bottom of this and show that they were not at fault, their business will be very adversely affected (comprometer).

When Pancho returns home, Soraya tells him that she has had un presentimento. Her heart has told her that what happened was not an accident. It was sabotage (sabotaje), and she suspects they both know who did this.


Meanwhile, at Mon-Sol-Minus-Sol (MSMS), Javier brings Armando the budgets for two new routes. Armando asked who authorized this. Javier told him that Marlene authorized it and told him he needn't speak to Armando about it. Armando points out to Javier that he, Armando, is the only boss, and that he doesn't want anything done without his knowing about it. As for Marlene, "she's just the woman who warms my bed at night, nothing more" (Marlene solamente es la vieja que calienta mi cama en las noches, nada más). [Marlene seems to think of everything, but apparently she hasn't had Andy bug Armando's office.]
 

EVA LA TRAILERA - MARTES - Parte 2 de 3

Outside at MSMS, Eva and Adriana meet with someone Adriana refers to as "tio," but I think he may be a friend of Eva's rather than a relative. Eva explains to him that she needs to start her own business, Soler y Hijas, and asks him to sell her a trailer. He says he can't do this, and he brings up her legal problems. She protests that she's innocent, but he doesn't relent. Finally, she says "Armando threatened you," and he says yes. Moreover, he continues, she won't be able to buy from anyone else: Armando will use his influence to make sure that no one deals with her.

After Eva and Adri return home, Adri is furious at her father. Suddenly, she complains that something smells terrible and rushes into the bathroom. Need I say more?

Pablo and JJ are explaining to Evencio the connections they hope to prove between the death of Carmen and the death of Sofia. To do that, they first have to prove that Carmen was murdered.

Meanwhile, as non-assassins Robert and Cinthia are contemplating the possibility of great accidental wealth, Bobby comes into the room and is overwhelmed with affection. Cinthia embraces him and says, "I adore you, my angel," while Robert calls his previously inept child a treasure and kisses him. Bobby is understandably puzzled: "What love bug has bitten you?" he asks (¿Que mosco raro del amor les picó?).

After Adriana comes out of the bathroom, she lies down on her bed, still feeling a bit ill. She suddenly feels a lot more ill when she sees Andy the Asqueroso in her room. She screams at him, runs into the kitchen, grabs a large knife, and threatens him, screaming for help. Esteban and Noemi are outside, hear her cries, and come running. Noemi picks up a large vase and threatens to hit Andy, while Esteban takes the knife from Adriana and tells him, "She doesn't know how to use this, but I do. I have also been in prison, so if you want a fight, you'll have it with me." Andy says "I didn't come to speak with servants, I came to speak with mi mujer." Adriana sets him straight that she is not his mujer, and she doesn't want to see his ugly mug again. Andy says he'll return "when you're calmer, my love," and he leaves.

Adriana looks ill, and she again races into the bathroom. Viewerville cries out in unison, "Oh no!" But it's Oh yes. Noemi, like any reasonable woman over the age of fifteen except Adriana, recognizes what the problem is likely to be. She sends Esteban away and explains things to Adriana. "Yes, it's like indigestion, but your stomach grows larger and it lasts for nine months." She asks Adriana about her menstrual period, and Adri realizes that it should have come nine days ago. The light bulb finally goes on. Even so, she says that it's not possible, since she and Bobby always used protection. "And what about with Andy?" asks Noemi. "Were you on the pill?" "Well...at first," Adri replies, "but there were a few times....but that would be too much of a coincidence." Noemi points out that her mother at times forgot, and she (Noemi) has four sisters "by coincidence."

Soraya tells Eva about the problems with Pancho's business, and her feeling that the Monteverdes are involved. Eva agrees. Just then, Federica walks in, still all dressed up and looking extremely happy. "I had forgotten how beautiful life is." Soraya and Eva say in unison, "Don Martín." Federica tells them that he has agreed to help Camila and Virginia reopen their cases. Everyone is very happy. Everyone but Pablo.
 

EVA LA TRAILERA - MARTES - Parte 3 de 3

An energized and excited Martín tells Pablo that the two of them will defend the friends of Federica and Eva. Like Batman and Robin. "I will investigate and you will be their lawyer." Pablo isn't convinced. He points out that this will bring them no money. "How will we live?" Martín says they can live on his police pension, and when Pablo points out that the pension won't cover all their expenses, Martín says that they can use the savings he has in the bank. "That was supposed to be for an emergency, an extreme case," says Pablo. "Well," says Martín, "if defending poor women who were unjustly accused isn't an extreme case, what is?" Pablo asks whether Martín is responding to urging from Federica, and Martín admits that he is. "I am a man," he says. He asks Pablo again whether he will defend the women, and Pablo finally agrees. Martín is jubilant.

Marlene talks with Armando at MSMS. He tells her that he's done what they agreed, he's talked to all his business contacts and has told them that if they deal with Eva, they will have no more business from Armando. Marlene says that this isn't enough. Eva has powerful allies: the Morgollóns. Armando decides it's time that he pays Pancho a visit.

Meanwhile, Martín pays a visit to Camila at the prison. She says she's very happy to hear that the "Agencia Careras" is willing to help her, but she has no money to pay for him or Pablo. That's not a problem, he tells her. We have a foundation set up to help cases of violence against women. What you have to do is tell me everything about your case, in detail.

The other branch of Agencia Careras goes to see his friend in the police department. He points out that the video shows El Chivo and AA at the hospital at the same hour that Carmen died. Pablo explains that he needs to show that the murders of Carmen and Sofia are connected, and to do that he first has to prove that Carmen was murdered. Therefore, he wants to have her body exhumed. His police friend isn't persuaded. "No one will buy this," he tells Pablo.

Armando goes to see Pancho in his office. He wants Pancho to stop supporting Eva. The discussion becomes quite heated, and when Armando insults Soraya, Pancho socks him in the jaw. Viewerville cheers. Pancho's colleagues/bodyguards/whatever break up the fight and escort Armando out.

Bertha asks Celeste about Noemi's novio. I have no idea why.

Adriana comes out of the bathroom holding bad news: a positive pregnancy test. She looks even sicker than before. So naturally Bobby picks this time to come see her. He asks her what's the matter. She stands there holding the stick with the pregnancy test results. He hasn't yet noticed it.

Eva is telling Soraya about her very frustrating day and her inability to get anyone to sell her a trailer. Fresh from his encounter with Armando, Pancho arrives and tells Eva "You have a new partner in you business: Pancho Morgollón." The episode ends to the sound of Viewerville cheering.

Interesting the reveal about the chofer's criminal past. This may come to mean something in the end.

"Noemi, like any reasonable woman over the age of fifteen except Adriana, recognizes what the problem is likely to be." I'm glad they got straight to the bottom of this instead of dragging out the barfing for a few more epis.

Nice to see Team Eva pulling itself together after so many body blows.
 

Eva. Excellent and very complete recap, Juanita! Eva has her mojo on. Great! She really is a guerrera. Talk about counterproductive! When Armando visits and threatens Pancho it just makes P want to help Eva out all that much more. This time Soraya doesn't even have to convince him. I love her "psychic" insights, btw. And I thought Armando had agreed to give her a truck? Maybe not. When I think of Adri's baby, spawn so Satan comes to mind. Maybe all that drug use with Andy will cause her to miscarry? Interesting that even the "tío" noticed that she seemed a bit peaked.

what a terrific recap, and very detailed, there were a few things you pointed out that I had missed.

Camila's story was a little sketchy, sounded like she killed a guy that was raping her, as in holding the knife but had passed out, and the fiscal sold the jury that it was premeditated.

Armando is a complete blockhead. What in the world made him think that Pancho would join his little cabal against Eva, when her best friend is his wife? Masculine solidarity? And he ranted and raved about the “new routes” [doubtless the importation of drugs routes] but I’d bet the farm he’ll never bring it up again. Or the writers who’ve written him as an idiot won’t.

Should it be Soler e Hijas? Span Prof?

What’s up with Andy? He’s trying to woo Adriana even though he signed the divorce papers? If Marlene finds out about the pregnancy, she’ll definitely use it.

Thank you for the recap Vivi. Muka is something else, smh, but how far is she willing to go? She forced Fatma to marry one of her "rapist" knowing how miserable that would make Fatma. She was happy to ruin Fatma's life just like she felt marrying Rahmi ruing hers. She was always jealous of Fatma, hindering her education, bulying her, treating like crap because she was stuck with slow Rahmi. But since Fatma"luck" out with her new loving not rapist husband and with a rich father to boot she is on the warpath again. She is a narcissistic egoist. What a difference a year makes? Fatma and Kerim were just beaming and happy this time around.

Thanks, Romy. The jealousy and envy is gnawing at Mukaddes so badly, even I can feel it through the screen. At every turn when she tries to ruin Fatma's life, she overcomes it.

Her life would have been worse without Fatma and Rahmi! She would have been a single mother with no prospects, and likely no home. With Rahmi and Fatma she got legitimacy for herself and her child, a house, land, a business, and live-in childcare and maid service. What more could she ask for? She needs to thank God every day that she found a sucker like Rahmi.

I agree. She was lucky she found gullible Rahmi. I think she wanted Fatma to be as miserable as she felt so she hates that poor girl. Fatma's courage made lemonade out of the lemons life gave her but Muka could not be happy with the chance she got with Rahmi.

LXV, I love how you often manage to pick out a sentence or two that I especially like, both in my recaps and in the recaps of others.

SpanProf, I too was so pleased that Armando's visit to Pancho totally backfired, and like you, I love Soraya's otherworldly feelings. Normally I don't have much patience with that kind of character, but I'm completely taken with her.

Wow, deb, I'm so often impressed with how much you see that I miss, so you can imagine how flattered I feel to know that I mentioned some things that you had missed.

Novelera, I don't know where my brain was when I wrote the recap. I'd like to say I was listening to a recording of opera tenor Jose Carreras, but I'm afraid I don't have that or any other excuse for writing Careras instead of Contreras. And yes, you're also right about Soler e hijas. I've occasionally made that mistake in the past, even though I know the rule. Perhaps now that I've erred in public, I'll pay more attention in the future. :-) As for Andy, perhaps now that Adriana has rejected him so totally, he wants what he can't have. I certainly don't think he genuinely cares for her.
 

Eva. Maybe Andy finds being threatened with a knife a turn-on? He's certainly creepy enough. From speculating about Cintia to insisting that Marlene kiss his cheek, there's just something skin crawlingly repellent about him. He even kind of looks like a snake.

Oh, I forgot to say something I noticed last night in my earlier comment. When the Alacrana and Andy were sitting in Robert and Cinthia's living room discussing the possible premature death of Pancho, Andy called Cinthia preciosa, unbelievably inappropriate, especially in front of her husband.

Deb, I also saw the notice that La Esclava Blanca would begin April 18, but also don't know what time of day they'll show it. It seems to me that it will be in the daytime. I don't think Eva will be over by then, and Quien and El Señor are even more recent.

Vivi- I looked all over today and could not find a time, but I did see, "Imperio" has been replaced in the tv schedule with "Secretos", a Turkish novela of 18 episodes, so this may well be in the Fatmagul time slot, (although it definitely looks like a prime time show).

Wow, novelera, good find! I totally missed AA's calling Cinthia preciosa, and right in front of Robert. I hope the writers will eventually get around to giving us some of the history that led him to say this, and led her to show some obvious interest in him. And also a bit more about the, um, relationship between Andy and Marlene. I agree, SpanProf, AA is definitely creepy.
 

FATMAGUL: Turkish Episode #78/U.S. #81, Wednesday, 3/30/16
(TURKISH) AFTERNOON DELIGHT & THE GREEEN-EYED MONSTER

Part 1: Fatma and Kerim enter their hotel room and are flooded with memories of the night last year when they were stranded there in the torrential rain. Neither can take their eyes off the bed as they comment on how lovely the room is. Fatma suggests they hang up their clothes, and Kerim suggests they go for a walk afterwards to enjoy the grounds and forest they couldn’t last time. Fatma’s phone rings. Meryem gives them the happy news of Selim’s arrest in Istanbul. She doesn’t mention Mukaddes’ mysterious role. F&K are over the moon happy. They celebrate the beginning of the final fall of their enemies with an embrace and kisses. Kisses that turn into something else…Very quickly, that planned walk is forgotten…

The Yasaran clan are all brought to the police station, along with a handcuffed Selim, through a swarm of media. Mukaddes is brought by Kadir and Omer, and nervously tries to leave. They remind her that she’s the informant. They press her to tell them what she was doing there. She’ll have to make a statement in front of the D.A., they tell her. Mukaddes gets even jumpier.

At the restaurant, Rahmi is hurt and angry, and wonders what to do about Mukaddes. “She had contact with them. She was a spy among us—a double agent! If she knew their plans, why didn’t she tell us anything? Who knows what kind of evil she was plotting behind my sister’s back. I don’t believe anything she says anymore. I’m going to get a divorce!” Meryem urges calm, and reminds him of the well-being of the kids. Rahmi doesn’t want her around putting horrible thoughts into his kids’ heads. He doesn’t want them to turn out like her.

Selim gives his statement to the police. He claims he didn’t flee the country, but was just on vacation and incommunicado in Turkey. They point out they have recordings of conversations between him and his mother, when he was on the run. Selim makes like Shaggy, and claims, “It wasn’t me!” The police continue to lay out their evidence. They know Ayse helped him. And does he know that the person who called the cops on him was his own lawyer? “My uncle?” Selim is in disbelief over this betrayal by Munir.

The other members of the Yasaran clan give their statements. They all deny hiding Selim, and tell the police he had only just shown up at the house, out of the blue. They had no idea he was coming or where he had been prior. Munir tells the cops that he denounced Selim to help him—so that he could clear his name. He claims to be “a man of the law.” (Ha!)

Omer, Kadir and Mukaddes wait for their turn in front of the police chief. They inform Mukaddes that it’s been confirmed that Munir was the one who made the anonymous tip. So, just what was she doing there, and why did she lie? Mukaddes escapes to the restroom, and then right out the police station. Kadir and Omer don’t sweat it. She’ll have to explain it to the D.A. eventually.

 

FATMAGUL, Wednesday, Part 2:
In their cabin, Fatma and Kerim have a post-nookie glow, and cuddle naked under the covers. A contented smile plays on Kerim’s lips, as he plays with Fatma’s hair. She’s lost in the memory of the first time they were there, when they played their game of 20 questions. Fatma looks up at Kerim’s face, smiles at the memory, and sheds a few happy tears. She tells him that when he asked her if she loved him that night, she answered yes, after he left the cabin and ran out into the rain. She tells him how much she loves him, and he reciprocates. They begin to kiss, and go for round two…

Rahmi confronts Mukaddes when she gets home. He doesn’t allow her to weave any lies and orders her to sit. He’s had it up to HERE with her, and doesn’t understand her. She loves no one and cares about no one. She only lives to cause others problems. Mukaddes accuses Fatma of putting these ideas in Rahmi’s head. He drops the D-bomb. “I want a divorce! I can’t stay with you.” He explains that he always looked the other way because she is the mother of his kids. He thought she’d change/get better, but his patience has come to its limit.

At the police station, Selim is taken away to prison. Resat and Perihan confront Munir. Munir claims he did it for Selim’s own good. Resat threatens to kill him.

At the restaurant, Meryem has her hands full with orders, a ringing phone, a crying Elif, and a muddy Murat. Murat goes to the bathroom to wash off (i.e. play in the water). Mukaddes marches into the restaurant, with Rahmi on her heels, determined to take the kids away. Mukaddes loudly accuses Meryem of trying to separate her from her husband. Rahmi tells her no one told him anything. Mukaddes’ volume gets higher and she threatens to take the kids from Rahmi and leave. Rahmi points out that a judge wouldn’t award her custody after the things she’s done. Mukaddes is quick to respond: “Don’t be an idiot! One of them is a baby. And Murat isn’t your son, and you know that! They’re both mine!”

Murat hears this loud and clear from the bathroom. Meryem tries to get them to turn down the volume. Mukaddes snatches Murat from the bathroom. She tells Rahmi to get out of her way, or she’ll call Murat’s REAL father. Poor Murat is confused and crying as Rahmi tells him not to pay attention to what Mukaddes is saying. He’s his real father. Mukaddes drags the two kids off. Rahmi is still determined to divorce her. Meryem urges him to calm down first, go home to discuss things, and then make a decision.

Night has fallen, and our lovebirds have finally made it out of bed and taken a shower. They’ve gotten dressed up, and Fatma is drying her hair. Kerim comes up behind her and kisses her neck seductively. They both admit to being REALLY hungry (with good reason), and head out to the hotel’s restaurant, hand-in-hand. They are seated at a table for two, away from a gregarious group of tourists, who they are told come every year. Suddenly, a loud laugh rings out from the group. Fatma and Kerim look over and see that the laugh is coming from…Kristen!

 

FATMAGUL, Wednesday, Part 3:
Kristen spots Kerim and runs right over to hug and greet him. She greets Fatma with a kiss and asks how they are. She realizes Kerim must still come to this place because it’s SO unforgettable. She also still comes every year. Fatma gives Kerim major side eye. Krsiten wonders why he hasn’t answered any of her emails. Has he forgotten her? Kerim tells her he and Fatma are celebrating a special night. Kristen gets the hint and goes back to her table. Fatma tries to pretend that it doesn’t bug her that Kristen is there, but then says she’s sure that Kristen is over there talking about him with her friends. Fatma claims she is NOT jealous.

Murat angrily shuns Rahmi’s goodnight kiss as he tucks him in. Murat then pretends to be asleep when Mukaddes kisses him goodnight. Rahmi speaks to Meryem in the phone and tells her he and Mukaddes haven’t even exchanged a word since he got home. With the kids asleep, Rahmi tries to have a calm, sane conversation with Mukaddes. (Not possible.) He asks her why she went to see the Yasaran. She deflects angrily, because she has no answer. They fall back into the same argument—divorce vs no access to the kids. Murat listens.

Meryem has dinner with Kadir, but all she can think about is poor Murat. Omer calls with the news that Selim is staying in prison, but the other Yasaran were sent home. Selim joins his cousin Erdogan in his prison cell. It is a lukewarm reunion. Selim asks what Erdogan expected him to do when he was arrested in Malta. Erdogan admits he would have done the same thing, and they finally break the ice. Selim admits he was in dire straits (eating cat food and out of dumps) after Ayse left him, and he came back after learning about his father. Erdogan calls him stupid. He shows Selim his continued written confessions. The most important part is in someone else’s hands, he says.

When Resat, Perihan, Hilmiye and Yadigar return home, they realize someone has broken in. The bag of money is gone! That damn Munir!

Fatma can’t stop looking over at Kristen as she eats dinner. She remembers when Kerim first brought her to this hotel/restaurant, and told her he had been there quite a few times (Fatma guessed with Kristen). He only spoke about the first time he went there with his parents, as a little boy. “She must REALLY like it here to come here every year…,” Fatma muses. Kerim caresses her cheek, and that brings Fatma out of her jealous reverie. She declares that this is THEIR special place. Kerim agrees and tells her how happy he is. Kristen’s timing is great as always, and she joins them once again. She asks Kerim about his work and suggests they work together again. Kerim politely turns her down. Fatma decides to stake her claim on her man. She ups her use of “my love, honey, sweetheart, darling, etc.” and makes sure to keep touching Kerim. Fatma mentions their recent wedding. This is like a mini-honeymoon for them. Fatma then pretends she’s cold. She turns down Kerim’s offer of a jacket, and instead shimmies her chair next to his, takes his arm, puts her head on his shoulder, and cuddles against him. Kristen gets the hint.


 

FATMAGUL, Wednesday, Part 4:
As they get ready for bed, Kerim can’t stop laughing. “I wasn’t jealous! You broke up a long time ago, and she knows you’re with ME, in case anyone was wondering.” He pulls Fatma to him in bed, and she nuzzles against his chest. Fatma finally admits that she was jealous—VERY. She’s been jealous since way back when she first learned about Kristen.
F: Why did you have to come here with her first?
K: I came here first with my parents.
F: When you were a kid. And then later with HER. And the hotel we stayed in, when we first came to Istanbul, you also first stayed in with HER.
K: Oh…you haven’t forgotten anything.
F: Kristen told me especially so that I wouldn’t forget. She threw it in my face because she was jealous. And I couldn’t ask you, even though the doubt was eating at me. And then on top of everything, that beyotch sent you those photos!

Kerim just smiles and listens. They both remember the first time Fatma got jealous of Krsiten (after the dinner party), but told Kerim he could go right ahead and tell Kristen their marriage was a sham. Fatma now admits that at the time she was scared he would do just that and tell Kristen the truth. “The only truth I could tell her was that I am in love with you, Fatmagul.” This makes Fatma smile and she rewards him with kisses. The next morning, Fatma wakes with a fright after dreaming that she’s found Kerim kissing Kristen. This sends Kerim into another fit of laughter.

Mukaddes and Rahmi wake to find that Murat has run away from home! He’s made his way to F&K’s house, but no one’s at home. Kadir and Meryem search for him at their house.

Since she’s already dressed, Fatma takes the opportunity to go confront Kristen, who’s on the lawn doing stretches, while Kerim is in the shower. “OUR sleepyhead isn’t up yet?”, Kristen asks. (Oooh! Wrong thing to say, Kristen.) She comments that F&K seem closer/more united than the last time she saw them. And Fatma seems more confident. She also now knows their history, as she’s read and seen the news stories. Fatma is fuming, and decides to stop beating around the bush. She comes right out and asks if Kristen came here because she knew they’d be here. She gets downright bitchy with Kristen and accuses her of having the hots for Kerim and trying to jump his bones. She reminds Kristen of the pictures she sent, and her inviting Kerim to come to her hotel room in the middle of the night the previous year. Kristen is confused by her hostility, and fast Turkish. Kerim joins them on the lawn, and Kristen asks for his help trying to figure out why Fatma is so pissed at her. Kristen’s BOYFRIEND suddenly comes out of their room, and she introduces him to Fatma and Kerim. Fatma looks like she wants the earth to swallow her up, right then and there. (Wanna get away?)

In the car ride back, Fatma is so ashamed she can’t even raise her head from her hands. Kerim jokes with her, and says jealousy is perfectly natural. He thinks she was right—it wasn’t a coincidence that Kristen was also there. It was like the universe was trying to teach them both a lesson. In the end, it was for the best. He pulls along the side of the road and says she made him very happy. Today he could really see in her eyes that she accepts him for who he is. And given Kristen’s previous (skanky) behavior, no one would fault her for believing the worst. They smooch, and nearly get sideswiped by a frickin’ mac truck coming around the bend too fast. (Stop scaring us like that, Writers!) Fatma tells Kerim she’s decided to do the book with Sinem. They can start working on it after the trial. She calls Sinem right then to tell her.

 

FATMAGUL, Wednesday, Part 5:
Rahmi and Meryem report Murat missing to the police. The police are sure he’s close by and they’ll find him soon. Mukaddes cries all alone in the apartment, and decides to text Salih about Murat. He calls her back immediately. She tells him Murat knows he’s his father. He accuses her of just trying to manipulate him, and tells her to get out of his life. He then calms down and tells her to look in the usual places, and call him with any news. As he walks the streets searching with Meryem, Rahmi has a flashback to that awful morning when Fatma didn’t come home, and he went all over the village looking for her. He says he would kill himself if anything happened to Murat. They ask a group of kids if they’ve seen Murat. No luck.

Selim and Erdogan speak about the irony of their situation. If they had admitted their crime from day one, they would have already been out of jail by now. They share a morbid laugh as they list all who have died as a result of them trying to cover up their crime—Erdogan’s dad, Semsi, Leman, Vural, Mustafa, and Turaner. The Curse of Fatmagul! Erdogan rubs some salt in the wounds by telling Selim that his ex is about to marry one of the 100 richest men in the country.

F&K go to the restaurant first when they get back to Istanbul and worry when they see the police car outside. Rahmi tells them that Murat ran away. Fatma is in shock, but comforts her brother.

We jump in time to FOUR MONTHS LATER… Fatma is in the yard speaking to Sinem, as they work on the book. Sinem asks how they eventually found Murat. Turns out he was right there at F&K’s house, hiding in the doghouse. Murat declared to his parents that he’s never going back home if they keep fighting. Rahmi and Mukaddes promise to make peace for his sake, and end the talk of divorce. Fatma explains that they got professional help from a therapist to help Murat understand the whole bio-dad thing. But, no, Fatma and Mukaddes did NOT make peace. Especially as those days leading up to the trial were so tense for everyone.

Kerim brings out a plate of delicious looking watermelon, which Fatma digs into immediately. Viewerville gets a surprise when Kerim puts his hand on Fatma’s baby bump, and says their baby girl has only craved watermelon lately. (!!) Neither of them can stop smiling. Sinem asks what they will name her. Enise, after Kerim’s mother, says Fatma. Kerim kisses Fatma and they share a moment of pure bliss and love as they think about their baby.

-End of episode.

Amigas (and amigos)- I head to the airport and then Nepal early tomorrow morning, so I will only have a limited time to check in with you all before getting on a LONG flight. I'll check in again during my layover, if I can, and then after I finally arrive in Nepal. It has been so wonderful experiencing the journey of Fatmagul and Kerim with you all! Now, got to finish packing!

Cant believe its coming to an end. This has been a wonderful TN... so well acted with a riveting storyline. I will miss it so much.

All I can say is Muka is made of teflon...after all shes done and now disrupts Murats innocent world...she is still standing. Wow...incredible.

What does it take to get rid of her. She was plotting with the Ys till the end and still finds a way to stay around. Not a typical anvil ending for a TN antagonist. Oh well...guess they didnt want anyone else with Rhami or raising her kids.

Would have loved if the writers addressed her self hatred and misery...and how it manifested into envy toward Fatma.

So so glad that F&K are happy and enjoying each other now after all theyve been through and their hard work on themselves and their relationship. The baby bump scene was too cute. Kristen is lucky Kerim showed up when he did. The new ...secure Fatma is protective of her man and she dont take no stuff. And now we know she Can fight...if she wants to.

Dont know the law but interesting that Selim stated they could have already finished the prison term by now had they faced their origional crime in the beginning. Disappointed that their law is so lenient on rape.

A lot of lives were lost and ruined unnecesarily....because of their crime and weakness afterwards. Now they have to man up and face the music.

Was puzzled by muka calling Sali about murat. He has shown no interest in her or the boy and initially didnt appear to care that he was missing. Maybe it was a last effort by muka to get his attention to start things up again since she was fueding with rhami. Pathetic on het part but glad murat is ok

Eva la trailera... epi 44, wednesday
part 1

Pancho's disgust with Armando makes him insist on being Eva's partner, but the bail, living in your house, we're freeloaders Eva replies, Pancho won't take a no, and besides it makes my wife happy, and she is, he makes me fall in love every day, all over again, Soraya says.

Martin and Camila talk about her case, she had no money, it's as if the lawyer wanted to loose, his name is Hugo Roman, (not Alberto?) I'll start with how he handled the case, Martin says.

Robert and Cinthia talk about the Mogollons, Robert's leaning towards getting them out of the way, Cinthia doesn't want to be a murderer, they receive a summons to be questioned over Pancho's lawsuit. (I'm sure as time goes on they will both have blood running out of their ears)

Pablo drops in on Eva's judge, the trial is in a week, what? but Pablo won't be ready, the judge won't delay, and to the real reason Pablo came, he wants to exhume Carmen's body to prove she was murdered, judge doesn't buy it, stick to Eva's case, and stop being a detective and start being a lawyer. (I think the judge likes this little game with his new toy)

Armando will have nothing to do with another murder, Marlene says you will never kick me out of your bed or your business, because you are already an accomplice, I'm not afraid of you Armando says and leaves.

Eva and Pancho talk business, he'll be the investor, she'll run the show, no need to add Mogollon to the business name, because later he will sell her his share, with interest of course. Eva just knows her father is looking out for her and leaves, Pancho asks Soraya, does he get his prize now, Soraya says when she dies and knocks on the gate she will tell them she has already been to heaven.

Bobby sees the pregnancy test, positive?, ah, but it's Noemi who takes the fall, and Bobby wonders why she doesn't look happy.

Marlene and Andy whistle while they work, Armando doesn't like word murder, but no problem, it will be an accident this time, what kind of accident Andy inquires, I don't know yet Marlene replies, but we need to know all about the Mogollons, they decide on Marlene's PI to tap Pancho's phone.

Pablo, Martin and JJ talk business, Eva's case is one week, we can't possibly do this other, but Evencio volunteers to help. God never abandons us, Martin adds.

Esteban brings the DNA test results, and is sent with a copy for Bobby, Pancho doesn't need to open it, so Soraya does, but what is that look on her face, horror, or 20 years of relief, wow, positive she says, and smiles.

positive, what a horrible word, Adri mumbles, all alone in the pool house.

 

Eva la trailera... epi 44, wednesday
part 2

Bobby gets his copy and congratulates Esteban, for what, when he realizes Esteban doesn't know about Noemi, and shuts up, then runs into his parents while opening up the results, Cinthia has baked him a cake, the first ever, and Robert sucks up to him as well, and Bobby gets out of there, (after they all see the results are positive).

Pablo and Evencio go looking for Sofia's neighbors in hopes they saw the first attempt on her life, Evencio says I'll handle this, Pablo not so sure, and he finds Ramiro who definitely saw the two men, intent on killing her, could you identify them, nope, didn't see their faces, (and there always seems to be a little doubt in every aspect of Eva's case), but Pedro and Matilde did and then meeting with Pedro, yes he can identify them, so you will testify, ah but what if they come after us?

Pablo tells Evencio, he makes a pretty good assistant.

Pancho meets with his lawyer, a big Houston law firm has taken the case of 10 of the sausage victims, and they don't do things like this unless there is going to be a lot of money involved, but I was just planning on expanding, Pancho says (ut oh, what about Eva's business)

Fabi is with the doctora from the earlier hospital, happily drawing another picture for her mother, that is until Armando shows (is he a little tipsy) and wants a hug and a kiss from his daughter, totally turning day into night for Fabi, and the shrink has to break them up and get Fabi out of there, while Armando lays into how it is Eva that has left her family with her new lover, how he would never abandoned his daughters.

Diego is upset that Fabi never came back.

JJ is busy tracking down Camila's case, (and I'm having trouble following this) but I think he finds a facebook pic of this family that includes Camila's stepfather who was raping her, and Martin flips, because this guy is sure to start raping the young girls in the pic if they don't stop him.

Pablo swings by to see his Dama Hermosa, they both are excited with good news, Pablo says the trial is in a week, Eva gets worried, this nightmare will be over soon he says, she is not so certain they can win, and both agree that at least Betty won't be working against them (oh no, why did they have to say that), anyway Pablo wants to know if there is anyplace he can carry Eva, like to her room, and gets her all blushing and smiles.

Andy and the PI are outside Panchos in a van waiting for dark to bug his phone , the PI wants to know why they are doing this, and Andy wants him to just do what he is being paid to do.

Marlene and Betty have a girls night in, doing what they enjoy the most, plotting Eva's destruction...

Thanks for the JJ investigation explanation. That's about where I came out on understanding. But one thing it did was to put some urgency behind Mártín's insistence on taking this pro bono case.

Not looking forward to the legal morass that is Eva's unsolved case. Misery potential ahead.

Vivi buen viajes. You are such a wonderful person. I appreciate your excellent recaps, all of them. Loved ur humor, snark and insight into the characters/personalities/motives/ etc. I too will miss this exceptionally well written novela. A good lesson about life and it's ups and downs, good and bad. You Fatma peeps are the best, J, Nett, Romy and of course last but not least, Vivi leading the band. I, unfortunately, missed recents episodes but savor end every minute of the recaps and your comments about character behavior. Thank you all for a wonder, enlightening Fatmagul journey. Nett, I'm with you Muka's anvil could have been heavier. What a miserable person, maybe that's the anvil. I can't imagine living with that much misery in your life everyday. I look forward to the last 2 episodes, and thank you LXV for the backfill.

Eva. Excellent recap as usual, deb! I particularly liked your "the judge likes this little game with his new toy." Otoh, he seems to basically like Pablo and maybe wants to see if he is up to handling challenges. This episode seems to include a PSA about sexual predators. As you point out, the man in the picture is Camila's ex-stepfather (the man she stabbed while he was raping her?) who evidently survived and has a new stepfamily with a daughter about the same age as Camila was when he started molesting her. Marlene's detective seems a bit suspicious about what Andy is up to. But does this mean that he has his limits ethically or is he a potential blackmailer? Marisol finally refuses to help Betty plot against Eva. About time! Pancho and Soraya continue being very sweet together, as is Diego. Evidently he knows perfectly well that he was complicit in 2 murders. Wonder what the long-term effect of Armando's feeling of guilt (and lies about Eva) will be. Is he going to die saving someone? That would seem to be the only way he could be redeemed as a character.

Marvellous recap, deb! Clever, graceful, and informative. Even though I watched the episode, you pointed out several bits of dialogue that had gone right by me, bypassing my brain.

Like you, I had expected Camila to say that her lawyer's name was Alberto Silva. I guess that even though Los Angeles apparently has only one hospital and one TV channel, it is blessed with more than one bad lawyer.

Wow, that sure was quick thinking on Noemi and/or Adriana's part to explain the positive pregnancy test result in Adriana's hand. And I liked the juxtaposition of the Morgollóns' happiness and relief at the positive DNA result with Adriana's having a very different response to "positive."

Thanks for pointing out that the doctora with Fabi was the one from the other hospital. I hadn't realized who she was.

When Fabi freaked out over Armando's coming near her, I was a bit surprised that no one suspected Armando of child abuse. That wouldn't have been true (AFAIK), but it was the first thing I would have thought when she became terrified and kept saying over and over again that he was malo.

Deb, I'm glad you confessed that you had some difficulty following the details of Camila's case. I too found it somewhat confusing.

Add me to the list of people who immediately thought "oh no, why did you say that" when Pablo and Eva expressed their happiness over Betty's no longer working against them. Don't they watch telenovelas?
 

Eva. I figure that either Betty or Adriana will have a miscarriage, but it would just be too coincidental if they both did.
 

Fatma: Vivi safe travel and go with God. Enjoy your trip and thanks for the recap. Yes, our Fatma got pregnant on her wedding night. I guess Kerim waiting two years those swimmers hit their mark. Did you noticed Fatma iitiated lovemaking? Anf jealous Fatma is too adorable. Muka got caught and so did those rats.

Deb, loved your recap. Your humor is SO appreciated, as so many dark things are happening.

Again, little to no time to comment.

But I just can't believe Armando. Does he even hear himself? Has he convinced himself that he's telling the truth about Eva? He told the nice shrink that she abandoned him and their two children. Oddly enough, he doesn't mention that she NEVER abandoned her children. Instead she kicked him out of the mansion for having a long-term affair with her own niece. So the writers gave the shrink a blank look. She's met Eva and liked her. She's seen Eva's complete love for her children. Does she believe his crap?

I can't believe they're going with Eva losing the trial. And I don't really see what more Marlene and Betty can do than they did in the first trial. But I'm sure the writers will come up with some way to make us suffer by having Marlene bribe some witnesses or some such.

I hope this isn't upsetting anyone or too political for the blog. But I AM pro-choice. The logical thing for Adriana is to have an abortion. She doesn't want to give birth to the spawn of Satan and she still needs to attend university. But I guess writers of telenovelas assume that their viewers are religious and against abortion no matter what. So either she has the kid and Bobby accepts it or she has a miscarriage.

Vivi...when the landlady was introduced....and she was so chummy with Rhami...I thought she was going to replace Muka. ...so the issue of the kids having a mommy would have been solved. I so wish they had gone that route.

So when did F&K return to the cabin. I thought it was only a few weeks after they got married. Could that have been when she got pregnant. I was traveling and haven't seen the last few epis in total or live so I have missed how F&K describe when they got pregnant.

novelera, in my opinion, your stating your opinion as a way of introducing a theme related to the plot at hand is NOT too political. But I'll leave it to others to chime in if their comfort level is challenged by such a discussion and we will proceed with decorum according to group feeling. I have many Latina neighbors and it is not a choice they would make willingly.

I wonder if we have ever seen a telenovela with a planned abortion? There have been miscarriages aplenty, which come under the umbrella of abortion in the technical sense; they are properly known as "spontaneous abortion" as opposed to "induced abortion". But I'm afraid the prevailing ethos of most novelas precludes "induced abortion" as a moral choice.

So, long way around, I completely agree with you about Adriana's choices, but would be shocked, SHOCKED if the writers went there.

LXV, thanks for your support. I've seen a couple of telenovelas where a young woman changed her mind in the waiting room at the clinic and went on to have her child. I sort of remember one where a bit of a bad girl had one and then was wracked with guilt the whole rest of the novela.

Of course, it's not like Adriana wouldn't have plenty of family support if she does have the child. And there's money for caregivers so she could go to school.

But I can't think of too many novelas where a young woman gave birth to the child of a straight-up villain and loved it anyway.

novelera Actually, I think the whole notion of carrying the devil's spawn is more in keeping with standard novela fare. It sets up a really creepy dynamic in which every life is precious even the damned.
 

Eva. My choice would be that Adriana miscarries due to all the drugs that Andy plied her with (and that could also be used to explain the very difficult pregnancy she appears to be having), while Betty would do something really stupid and evil which would result in her death, but the baby would be saved to be raised by Pablo and Betty. After all, we already know her child is a girl so that we're already emotionally invested in the baby. Last night's episode: OMG! A Cayman Islands account. How cool is that? Way to go, Pancho!
