Un Camino Hacia el Destino-Week 10 (Apr 25, 2016)
Will Marissa crack the lying, two-faced creep's story about The Ring? How much money does Fernanda need to earn busking to rebuild the house? Will Pedro ever get it built? Can he convince people he did not try to commit suicide? How are Carlos and Fernanda ever going to get back together again? Will Amelia make it to the Big House? What happens to the quesadilla stand?
These and other questions may be answered in the coming days--or weeks--or months.
But for now: Surprise! Cesar asked Clarita to marry him and she said yes.

The following week, I will be unable to recap on Mon May 2
The recap for Tue May 3, will be written and posted on Wednesday, probably late, and the same for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Believe me, I'm the first one to say I hate having to miss these dates with my sweet Carlos and Fer, but the travel season is upon me and there will be gaps when I'm away.
Anita, due to my lack of Spanish comprehension skills, there is likely little I can add. But, if there is, I will try...
Traveling mercies when you will be away. You will be sorely missed!
Diana
We are all so grateful to you for all the work you have done up to this point.
David
Why is the ring here, Marissa demands, holding up The Ring, and why is it on the floor? Luis is thinking. Marissa wants to know, isn’t it the ring he bought for that woman? Did she bring it back to him? Marissa accuses Luis of having that woman here. Luis is taking a long time to think up a logical explanation and Marissa is getting exasperated. He finally answers, an employee brought it back. Oh, says Marissa, she has a job, with employees! Luis means an employee of a delivery service. She must believe him, he pleads. He says he’s being totally sincere. Here’s the story. After their “re-union” he went to see her to get the ring back since it had caused a serious problem between them. They argued. She wouldn’t give it back. She must have changed her mind. He swears it’s the truth. It was on the floor because it must have fallen out of his pocket. Marissa is not quite buying his story—yet. He swears he swore to always tell her the truth and gives her a peck on the lips and calls her mi amor. He’s going to take the ring back to the jewelers and hopefully get his money back. So, with that out of the way, he says, why don’t they go to lunch? Marissa says she’s going home.
In another venue, Leo is grilling Andrea about the little scene he just witnessed in Luis’ office. He’s not stupid. He could see how nervous they both were, tense. He wants her to tell him the truth. What truth? The truth that the married man she’s been seeing is his friend Luis Montero. She spits out a NO and who is he to be asking her. He is nothing to her. Leo looks at her, takes the rejection in stride and walks out. Andrea looks like she wonders what in the world she just did.
Mariana is trying to convince Amelia to give up this fantasy of returning to the big house. If she chose to make quesadillas and live in a hut all these years it was because she wanted to. She has an education, she could have had a career with a little more studying. She urges Amelia to return to Pedro and Fernanda and ask forgiveness. Amelia thinks it would be easier for Mariana to talk to their father. Mariana says he’s in no condition right now. He won’t even pay any mind to Nana Blanca. If Amelia insists on pressing her case, he might die and it will be Amelia’s fault. There is nothing for her here. She’s done enough damage to the family. She’s just an extra here. Amelia cries and says she’ll leave tomorrow, after saying goodbye to Nana Blanca.
Fernanda is heading out of school in her jeans to help Pedro. Rosaura stops her. Fer pleads. She can’t leave her father to do it all by himself. Rosaura reminds her she’s on a scholarship and if she doesn’t keep to her studies she’ll lose it. Fer, in turn, reminds Rosaura she just lost her mother, her music studies, Carlos, the house, will her father be next? They need money to rebuild the house. Rosaura is right, though, she’ll try harder. Fer and Pedro work on the house. José and Cesar arrive to help.
Old Fer wants to know what is going on in the shed. Nana Blanca tells him if he wants to know, he’ll have to see for himself.
Mariana greets Hernán gleefully happy. She convinced Amelia to leave and Luis to change the terms of the will. Hernán says that is easier said than done. He turns her around to see Blanca and Old Fer heading for the shed. Hallelujah! For Amelia and Old Fer it’s Oh, Happy Day. He recognizes her and embraces her. He thanks Blanca and is so overcome he can’t let go of Amelia—his daughter, returned to him. They cry and ask forgiveness of each other. He tells her she’s back under his protection.
Meanwhile, because Lupe does not have automatic updates she’s telling Ignacio about the terrible brouhaha went on when she left Amelia. Her sister is the dragon from hell. Iggy wants to know why he left her there. Lupe says Amelia is hard headed and her own worst enemy. She chose to stay. Pedro’s place is a doghouse, but there is love. Iggy is going to go look for her. He’ll get her a decent house where she can live peacefully, if she wants to.
Old Fer calls for Mariana and Hernán to greet Amelia. They are, or pretend to be, surprised by her appearance at the big house. He wants to plan a big party and leaves Blanca in charge of the arrangements. From now on, he tells them all, but directing his remarks to Amelia, she’ll live like a queen. Amelia rolls into her old bedroom. She calls Lupe to tell her the good news. Her bedroom is bigger that the hut she was living in with Pedro. Lupe tells her the hut is gone. Burned to the ground. Amelia asks if Pedro and Fer are OK. Lupe barely gets a Sí out before Amelia changes the subject back to herself and how happy she is. They are even going to send her to the best doctors to check her to see if she will ever walk again. With money, she’s sure she’ll recapture Luis’ love. (You delusional woman, he never loved you. Those were your hormones talking to you. He only wanted to use your body for his own gratification.)
Carlos is still mourning his nana’s death. He goes into her room and remembers past advice. Who will give him sage advice now? She was his refuge. (That’s a beautiful crocheted bedspread. I want it.) His phone rings. The results are in for Old Fer. He’ll be there right away. His colleague, the Alzheimer specialist, tells Carlos the disease in just in its nascent stage. Starting treatment right away will delay and minimize the symptoms such as memory loss. One thing, though, the treatment is one aspect, but this disease needs the involvement of the whole family.
The detective Luis hired to find Amelia and her daughter and at the same time took a higher payment from Mariana to *NOT* find them has showed up at the hacienda. He tells Mariana he wishes to tell her something important, alone. He regrets to inform her that her brother-in-law and his daughter both survived a fire that burned down their house. Lorsano (Sorsano, Losorsano, whatever) thinks it’s too much of a coincidence—her sister’s near fatal accident—the fire—and not wanting her sister and child to appear. He chuckles, just friendly like. She replies she’s no witch. He insinuates her father would be very interested in the lengths she went to keep him from learning the whereabouts of her sister and the daughter. She stares daggers at him. He wouldn’t dare. Ah, he says, the fact that he would make a deal with her behind Luis Montero’s back means he can just as easily go to her father with this information. So, what does he want (as if she didn’t know). Money, he says, doesn’t everyone? What will it take for him to disappear forever. While Hernán is chatting up his father-in-law about the party, Camila returns, bringing Lucero for a visit. Cam goes off to call Carlos to come join them for the evening.
Marissa is contemplating a framed photo of the horse’s ass. She’s positive Luis lied to her again, but how to prove it. Speaking of the ass himself, he arrives home with a cheery hola, mi amor. He called but she didn’t answer. She wasn’t in the mood to talk to anyone. Luis pouts a bit, is she still mad at him? He says they can’t live harmoniously if she’s going to keep harping back to her doubts. Marissa tells him she knows he lied. He’s incredulous she thinks that. Does she really believe he’d go and make the same mistake again? She says those are the consequences of distrust.
Carlos gets home. He’s on the phone with Camila. He’s sorry. He just can’t come today. He kisses his mother and heads for his room.
Old Fer tells Cam that Carlos will always be too busy for her. He has a novia. Cam contradicts him. They’ve been out together lots of times. He even went on their graduation trip with her, right Lucero? Lucero looks at her and said he did come, but she never saw him around. Old Fer says she should just get over that fantasy or she’ll look ridiculous in front of Carlos. Hernán is sure a proposal is coming soon. The lad is probably just thinking it over. Marriage is a serious step. Lucero is happy for her. Hernán and Mariana go off to discuss the latest problem. Mariana tells him the detective wants $1M, USD. Where are they going to get that kind of money? He tells Mariana he’ll take care of this guy.
Ignacio is in his office. He’s surprised when Pedro shows up. He knows Iggy is the only one who can answer his questions. He and Fernanda haven’t heard from Amelia in a long time. Does he know where she is? Iggy is going to respect her privacy and won’t tell him other than she’s ok. Her life has changed, he tells Pedro, she’s in a wheelchair and her father doesn’t want her. Pedro wonders if she could be at the hacienda. Iggy repeats she’s ok, but that’s all he’ll say.
It’s nighttime and Pedro returns to their half-built cottage. He tells Fer he couldn’t find out anything about Amelia. They are each suffering and each knows the other is, but they do not verbalize their feelings of abandonment.
Next morning Carlos and Marissa are acutely aware of Rosario’s absence. She asks Carlos how it’s going with Fernanda. He says for now they are friends. He’s not blaming her. She has a lot on her plate, especially after what happened to Pedro. She learns about the fire. She’s very concerned about Pedro. Carlos tells her he’s ok, but he suspects Pedro tried to commit suicide (he’s no. 4 to bring it up).
The construction on the new cottage proceeds slowly. Pedro stops to tell Fer she needs to get back to her routines, her studies. Fer says she will, but she needs assurance he’s going to be alright. They agree to look out for each other. Someone says hello. It’s Marissa. She greets Fernanda, too, and then Fer leaves. Marissa just heard about the fire and hurried over. He says she shouldn’t have bothered. Marissa says it’s not a bother. Isn’t that why they are friends?
Cesar is telling Lupe he has a bad feeling about Marissa’s husband and how he is around Clarita. He wants to get her out of there. (Lupe is his mother. Never knew that until now.) Lupe tells him he has to finish his prepa first. He thinks he has plenty of time to do that, work and get married. Lupe says no, none of this getting married business.
Clarita is telling Cesar his mother doesn’t like her as a wife because she’s only a servant. Cesar says no, all she want is for him to graduate so they don’t die of hunger. Clarita isn’t convinced. Once he finishes his studies, his mother will think even less of her. Cesar invites her to come meet his mother.
Pedro has Marissa sit down on a stump. He sits down facing her. She takes his hands and asks why he tried to commit suicide (this is no. 5, the case is building against him). He swears that’s not what happened. He’s been sad and depressed, doesn’t want to live, but he wouldn’t commit a sin of that magnitude. Marissa is relieved to hear that. She’s worried about him.
He begins to talk. He knows she’s loved before. Does she know what it is to lose a loved one? She does. Her first husband. The pain was unending. Pedro fiddles with his wedding ring. He admits to having loved no one else but Amelia since he put on this ring. She was like a goddess for him. Marissa interjects, a goddess who abandoned him and his daughter. She tells him he needs to live with it and move on with his life.
Marissa continues. When she got married again, she married a much younger man. She knew she was taking a risk that someday he might stray and leave her for a younger woman. She doesn’t think he cheated on her until now. She has no proof against Luis. Luis, Pedro is startled by the name, but guesses he’s Luis Gomez. Marissa says no, that’s her name. His name is Luis Montero. Cara de impactada de Pedro.
You captured everything perfectly with your signature wit and wisdom.
“because Lupe does not have automatic updates”, “(That’s a beautiful crocheted bedspread. I want it.)” (me too Anita!) and “Marissa is contemplating a framed photo of the horse’s ass” were just a few of my favorites.
"They are each suffering and each knows the other is, but they do not verbalize their feelings of abandonment". Pedro and Fernanda's hearts and souls need soothing balm. Marissa and Carlos should do quite nicely!
It seems incredible that Pedro has just realized Luis is Marissa’s husband. But now that he knows, the fire will surely be fueled. Perhaps that is an unfortunate statement – we’ve had more than our share of arson, haven’t we? I certainly hope Mariana can be connected to the blaze. Everyone thinks Pedro tried to do himself in. Mariana has that dubious honor.
I was also very surprised Lupe is Cesar’s mother. I wish she hadn’t discouraged him from marrying Clarita! I agree that she does not appear to be a snob. Rather gullible when it comes to people she cares about for no good reason (Amelia, I am looking at you!) But I am very, very afraid for Clarita.
"Iggy is going to go look for her. He’ll get her a decent house where she can live peacefully, if she wants to". Of course he is! He, like Lupe and others has grown attached to the cold Amelia for absolutely no good reason. Aren't there more deserving people to bestow kindness on?
Thank you so very much Anita for everything that you do! It is so greatly appreciated.
Diana
Like Diana, I was surprised by several things in this episode. I was surprised that Lupe is Cesar's mama, and I was surprised that Pedro didn't know that Luis is Marissa's husband.
I think anything that Iggy can provide for Amelia will be chump change in her eyes. His heart is in the right place, but she is of the "big house," not some apartment somewhere. She will look down on anything less than her father's hacienda, and on anyone less than Luis. This is a classic example of be careful what you wish for.
Mariana can't take two steps without stepping in a pile of do-do. I love it. Surely Hernan's plan for the PI involves murder, which makes this family about as dysfunctional as it can be.
Old Fer's advice to Camila regarding Carlos fell on deaf ears. Why listen to some old crazy guy when the facts, as filtered through Hernan and Camila's demented minds, say the opposite.
I thought Lucero looked about 32 in this episode, not like a recent high school grad.
Thanks again, Anita. Great job, as always.
David
David, I appreciate your volunteering to put up some of the happenings tomorrow. I'll be able to read them and keep up.
Lucero went from 18 to 32 overnight, indeed. That would make her much better suited to Diego, who, in real life is almost 40.
See you all a bit later.
Absolutely David! Enjoyed all your comments. After thinking about your remarks about Lucero, you are spot on - she also seemed to tower over Camila which didn't help.
Looking forward to tonight and your comments tomorrow too David.
Diana
Cesar......has a bad feeling about Marissa’s husband and how he is around Clarita. I don't like the sound of that.
It made me mad that Carlos told Marissa he thought Pedro tried to kill himself and how dare Marissa assume it to be a fact and confront Pedro about it. At least use some tact.
It doesn't matter if Marissa believes Luis or not she's not going anywhere. He knows it and she knows it.
I had lots of mixed feelings with this episode which was pretty much an episode of revelations
Marissa/Luis - His infidelity/lies
Amelia/Don Fer.- She's been in the shed
Andrea/Leo - Her affair w/Luis
Pedro/Marissa - She's married to Luis Montero
Lupe/Cesar - She's his mother (that one was for the audience)
Wow what a stark contrast between Marissa/ Bitchy bangs, when they were both told of Pedro/Fernanda's house burning down. Amelia barely gave a care, while Marissa had a sense of urgency to know how they were (well mainly Pedro but still). The woman barely finished her meal and then there she was in all her elegance and refinement to personally see to her friend. What a gal! I really need these two fine people to find some love and happiness and hopefully with each other.
Meanwhile that bitch on wheels, is all about how amazing her life is and how her bedroom is so much grander than the little shack she once lived in. She's going to live like a queen and have everything she deserves. From where I'm sitting you haven't begun to get what you deserve, you bitter bruja! I really can't wait for Luis to crack her face again. I just know he's going to be all about his daughter and barely give two cents about Amelia. This is really going to chap her off!
I'm glad Leo confronted Andrea. I hope she pulls herself together and realizes Luis is not all this grief. Furthermore he's married to a nice lady who has treated her with supreme kindness. Marissa doesn't deserve Andrea's betrayal.
I thought it was odd that Don Fer didn't ask about where his granddaughter is. I need Don Fer to start pressing Amelia for her. If she thinks she's miss high and mighty and she deserves such a grand lifestyle, well her daughter who has suffered under heel of her dirty foot, deserves everything wonderful and then some. I want Don Fer and Fernanda to be the supreme apple of Don Fer's eyes. Amelia will be so green with envy, when she is not the grand queen of the house.
I also can't wait for Camilla and all the lame girls at school to realize who Fernanda is and that she's not some poor girl. Oh that knotty headed Issy's head will explode!
I had to agree w/Mariana, if she lived w/Pedro in that shack it's because she wanted to. Anyone can pick themselves up and do better. I have to say also, that while I don't like Mariana, I can't imagine having her father consistently heralding Amelia has his heart, his favorite daughter and blah blah blah. That would rub anyone wrong. It's no wonder Mariana despises Amelia.
I have to say, I thought the scene with Hernan/Mariana seeing Amelia reconciled to her father was funny. Blanca more or less said, to Mariana, you haven't said anything about your sister's return, it's obviously left you speechless. Oh Blanca! She cracks me up.
Anita, Anita im here im here i was gone for 5 minutes lol! Im still here and devoted. You may get a few more followers when PyP ends (3 hours and i cant press pause or FF>> through commercials) we shall see how this goes or i may need to wait until i get back home Friday.
Anyway awesome as always. You make it so much easier to understand.
Its a funny thing when you find yourself in the unenviable position of routing for someone you cant stand. I could care less if Amelia stayed in that shack until she turned to dust, but then i was glad Blanca got Old Fer to remember and screw over Mariana. What us that about?
Pedro asks again, is she really married to Luis Montero? Yes, hasn’t he ever met him at the house? No, he says. Marissa is sure he’s cheating on her with someone he’s known for a long time, even though he denied it, calling it a fling. There’s a very expensive ring involved. She things he gave it to her. Pedro reacts angrily, to Marissa’s surprise. He can’t believe she’s married to that miserable no-good ingrate, Luis Montero. He then apologizes for his outburst. She thought he said he didn’t know him. Pedro says he doesn’t. It’s just that she’s a lady and cheating on her would be unpardonable. Marissa says he’s a gentleman and has never cheated on Amelia, right? He confirms that. He adds that if there is love, there’s no need for cheating. That’s exactly what Marissa has been thinking, that Luis doesn’t love her any more and never did. Lic. Ordoñez warned her many years ago that Luis was only interested in her money. She thanks Pedro for his concern. She intends to show Luis who she really is.
Leo comes to see Luis, armed with the information he thinks he has, from Andrea. They have to talk. He accuses Luis of the guy who is Andrea’s lover. Luis denies it. He would never cheat on his wife. Leo says he knows him—they’ve been friends for ever. He knows what he thinks of women. Luis is still on the defensive. That Luis is gone, he says. He’s been a faithful husband, not like Leo who can’t settle for any one woman. Luis spins his tale, substituting some other creep for himself in Andrea’s life. Leo and Luis go nose to nose. Maybe it was Andrea who provoked the guy to the point where he beat her. Leo says he doesn’t believe him. Luis says does he look like someone who beats women? She’s probably doing this to blackmail him into getting more money out of him. Why is he always putting Andrea down, Leo decries angrily. Because, says Luis, she’s no good for him. He’s told Leo a million times to stop seeing that one-step-above-a-ho woman. Leo says she has a name, Andrea and he loves her. Luis pours it on like gravy on mashed potatoes. What kind of woman would go with a married man and lets him hit her, eh? It’s someone who is only after money.
Old Fer hopes to get good news from the doctors he’s brought Amelia to see. He tells Nana Blanca that he’s curious that Amelia has never mentioned anything about her daughter. After the examination, Amelia happily reports that with therapy, she’ll be able to walk again.
Fer is crossing the campus. Camila catches up with her. She hasn’t been to classes. Fer says she knows, but she can’t leave her father alone at this time.
The 3 Mean Girls are at it again, telling Avelina she shouldn’t be eating an apple or drinking water. They are not healthy. Apples are pure sugar and water is full of sodium. Avelina runs off. Fer reacts. Camila tries to hold her back. Fer gets up and wants to start a rumble by pulling Caro’s hair One of the nuns breaks it up before it starts and sends Fer off to study. She’s way behind.
Pedro angrily attacks some boards with his saw, muttering Luis Montero’s name and the damage he did to Amelia and now he learns he’s married Marissa. Carlos stops by to see how the rebuilding is going and how he’s doing. Pedro says if he were dead, he’d feel a lot better. Carlos says life is beautiful. Carlos makes a reference to suicide. Pedro blows up. He’s not a coward. He wouldn’t commit suicide, although he wishes God would call him and take him away right then. Carlos says and what of Fernanda? Pedro says, it’s because of Fer he wouldn’t commit any foolhardy act, but he just can’t deal with this weight he’s carrying.
Amelia enjoys an outing in the sun with Blanca pushing her about, doing some shopping. Amelia says she feels so different after all they years of suffering. Blanca wonders if she doesn’t miss Pedro and her daughter just a little. She turns toward Blanca and says no, how could you think that. When she turns around she’s had her hair done and is wearing make-up. (Sorry, I don’t see that much improvement—neither on the inside nor on the outside—she’s still sporting her teenage bangs, not flattering.)
Old Fer is delighted, though. Then he drops the 10-ton elephant on her. He wants to know where his granddaughter is. When is he going to meet her? When is she going to come live with them?
Fer and Camila are talking—about Pedro and how sad he is about not knowing Amelia’s whereabouts. She’s so afraid he might try to kill himself again. Fer misses her mother, too, and wants to know how she’s doing. Camila knows already that Pedro isn’t Fer’s bio-dad, but she wonders if Pedro knows. Maybe that’s why he’s so sad, Amelia confessed it to him before she left. She doesn’t think her mother would have been that cruel to tell him that and then leave. Cam asks if Fer has ever wondered who her “real” father was. Fer says no, Pedro is her real father.
Carlos has come to the school to talk to Fer about something very important about Pedro. She tells him Sister Rosaura is with him now. Carlos is very concerned about Pedro’s mental state. At the building site, Rosaura hears Pedro say that Fernanda can’t go back to Carlos. He just learned today that Carlos is the son of Luis Montero. They can’t be novios, they are siblings. Rosaura has a tough time convincing him that he’s most probably the child of Marissa’s first husband. Well, that doesn’t change a thing. It’s enough they are associated, living under the same roof. But they are in love, pleads Rosaura. No. They can never see each other again. He can’t run the risk that Luis finds out this is the daughter Luis has been looking for.
The 3 Mean Girls are at it again. While Avelina is throwing up her non-meal in the bathroom, they sneak in and leave a uniform that Carolina wore when she was little—just to make Avelina think she’s fat. They carry off her regular uniforms. She returns to her bedroom and can’t fit into the uniform and tries to throw up again.
Carlos and Fernanda are sitting in their favorite spot by the water’s edge. They both remember the first time and all the times they were there together. But Fer reminds him they are there to talk about Pedro. Carlos understands her concern and desire to help him, but he needs a specialist to help him, a psychiatrist. Fer says he’s not crazy. No, that’s not what it means. He needs help foremost to not become even more depressed and withdraw from his normal life. Fer insists he’s only sad and she can help him overcome it. Carlos says she can’t do it alone. Let him help her. She’s agonized by the choice she faces.
Carlos sort of broaches their relationship. Fer tells him she loves him with all her heart. He says he loves her, too. Fer says they have a truce. Now is when she needs a friend and not someone in love. He says here he is, her friend and in love with her. He can tell there is still something wrong. She finally comes out with it. Her father is not her father. She’s supposed to be the daughter of a man her mother loved very much. (For one second, he has a flashback to when he was a boy listening to someone yelling that she was going to have his baby, as a car sped backwards from his mother's wedding.) Carlos wonders if that is why he tried to kill himself. Fer just doesn’t know. She doesn’t even know if he knows. All she knows is he’s not the man he was before. He promises to help, together they’ll help him.
Carlos and Fer look deeply into each others eyes. He finally asks, what happened to them, they loved each other so much. Fer says what happened was he lied to her. He knows that and he doesn’t know how to fix it so she can forgive him. Fer says she’s forgiven him. Then what’s preventing them from being together again. They know now Isy’s pregnancy story was a lie to trick them. Fer reminds him he lied to her, too. She had all sorts of illusions about their relationship while all the time, he already had a formal relationship going. He admits he didn’t have the courage to either end it with Isy or to tell Fernanda. He was so afraid of losing her. He did lose her, but she also lost him.
She says it would be easy to be in his arms again, yielding to his kisses, but she no longer trusts him. She’s afraid that if she does return to him, she’ll always wonder if he’s lying to her again. Carlos says he loves her and swears it won’t be like that. He will never do anything to hurt her again. She says she’ll look back on their relationship as something wonderful, but it’s over. Carlos is not accepting the end, but before he can lay out any further arguments in his favor, she kisses him on the cheek and leaves him, heartbroken.
Isabela is lecturing Andrea on her love interest. Isy thinks Leo is in love with her. Andrea admits he’s dizzy in love with her and she would like to fall in love with him and forget she’s the mistress of his best friend. She says these last 5 words as Marissa comes around the corner, but apparently didn’t hear them. Andrea excuses herself quickly. Isy laughs at the notion that Marissa has just been to visit Pedro, the gardener. Marissa is worried about him because Carlos thinks the fire was not an accident and Pedro tried to take his own life because he couldn’t overcome being abandoned by his wife.
Marissa changes the subject with Isy later. She comes right out with her suspicion that Andrea is Luis’ mistress. Actually she’s certain. Isy looks all surprised (mainly due to hearing Marissa say it, since Isy already knows). No, no, Isy can’t believe that. Marissa says she has no proof, but her woman’s intuition told her something was fishy after finding them together at the office—after Andrea said she was going to the dentist. And the ring, she repeats the story of the ring on the floor and certain the reason for it in his possession was a lie. She wants to know if Isy knows whether Andrea is her husband’s mistress—just as Andrea reappears. Isy has to go to a meeting. Marissa says she does, too, says goodbye to Isy and leaves. Andrea is aware she must suspect something since she didn’t say goodbye to her.
Mariana has arrived at Luis’ office, ready to work on the will. He says he hasn’t had time. Other things have been on his mind. He tries to explain that the will can only be changed if he was declared incompetent at the time he changed the terms. Even if they got one now, Blanca or Carlos can step forward and declare that he was competent at the time. She says one way or another they have to get it done because Solórzano, that detective of Luis’ is blackmailing her. Luis is surprised, then smiles. (It takes one to know one.)
There is a brief scene of Hernán welcoming Solórzano back and says they have to take a little ride. A little later, they come to a stop in the middle of nowhere. This is where Mariana is *supposed* to be with his money. Hernán tells him he knows all about the blackmail. Wait a minute, says Solórzano, it’s not blackmail, it was a little negotiation. Well that’s at an end and he punches him. Solórzano is down, but not out. He laughs through his bloody mouth. He’s been in league with Hernán’s wife for some time now. He has enough information on her to sink her. That earns him another punch.
Rosaura is still trying to persuade Pedro about Fer’s relationship with Carlos. He’s intransigent and says so quite loudly as Fer comes upon them, hearing her name. Pedro won’t tell her what they were talking about. Rosaura is called away. Now he tells her what he and Rosaura were talking about was of no consequence. She remarks he’s never talked to her like that. Can’t she see he’s not well? Exactly. She wants to help him and suggests making an appointment with a psychiatrist. Pedro blows up. He’s not crazy. Fer says she’s not saying that. It was Carlos suggestion...Pedro cuts her off. He’s yelling that he doesn’t care what Carlos says, she’s not to see him ever again. Never. Ever.
Mariana and Luis are still “negotiating” themselves. Luis is amused that Solórzano is blackmailing her. She gets the idea that Luis may be in on this extortion game. He’d better not be in on it, because there are all sorts of interesting things she could repeat, including telling his adored wife. Luis’ smile disappears from his face. He agrees to her terms and he’ll look for a way to change the terms of her father’s will so his daughter doesn’t inherit anything. (Does anyone out on our little Patio-by-the-Lake believe him?)
Pedro is still carrying on about Fer never seeing Carlos again. He’s decided. Fer protests that they are just like other couples who are having problems, but Pedro says they are not a couple. Carlos betrayed her, cheated on her with another woman. He forbids her to ever see him again. Never. Ever. Fer says she knows what Carlos did to her and she doesn’t have any intention of going back to him now, but he’s a doctor and they should listen to his advice. He did save their lives, all three of them. Pedro says that’s a different story. She tells him to quit acting like a spoiled kid. They should go see the psychiatrist and if he’s not needed, he’ll tell him. Pedro wishes everyone would stop saying he’s suicidal and leave him in peace.
Amelia tells her father she’ll talk about her daughter when she’s ready. Old Fer wonders if she turned out like her good-for-nothing father, that Pedro fellow. Amelia says she doesn’t want to talk of Pedro. For right now, she just wants to enjoy the love of her father. Old Fer has some advice. Mend the fences with her daughter. Amelia says she’ll try. He would like to meet her, have her come to the house to live. He wants his granddaughter to forgive him and take her rightful place in the household and when the time comes for him to leave this earth, his granddaughter will inherit everything he owns.
Mariana is watching and probably thinking, over her dead body.
Camila and Lucero have come upon Avelina’s too small clothes and find her on the floor of the bathroom. She’s fainted dead away. The girls do the right thing and the ambulance takes her to the hospital, with Rosaura at her side.
Marissa isn’t hungry. Clarita asks permission to visit Cesar’s mother and then they want to stop by to see Pedro. Marissa says isn’t it a shame what happened to him. He is someone who has never hurt anyone. Pedro Perez is the best gardener they’ve ever had. Luis walks in and hears the name and says the gardener’s name is Pedro Perez? Yes, answers Marissa, so what?
"Luis pours it on like gravy on mashed potatoes"
The last thing Bitchy Bangs wants in her fathers house is her daughter.
Hate everyone trying to force a suicide watch on Pedro. Surely this doesn't mean they'll kill the guy off?
Maybe it's because Fernanda is 18 and this her first love or maybe it's Paulina Goto but I believe her when she tells Carlos she loves him, forgives him but cannot trust him and why she cannot be in a relationship. Unlike most TN manufactured delays to keep lovers apart. It's not spite but a broken heart born of humiliation, being a silly schoolgirl trying to sneak out to see him while he was still in a relationship with Isabela.
I don't understand the girl talk between Isabela and Marissa. Why even have a conversation with the woman that faked a pregnancy to snare your only child?
Well done but the bulimia storyline is unsettling. Poor Avelina
From yesterday - Delilah63, "she neglected to get a box of Clairol's Basic Bitch Brown to go with her Debbie Downer personality" Right on sister.
I agree - Luis is not going to change that will.
I forgot to say this yesterday, but really Hernan? He and Amelia looked at each other like they recognized each other even more than his reaction to Pedro and he spent way more time with him.
Makeover, so what? Not impressed either. Glad Old Fer called that bitch on the location of Fer.
Although it was a joke, not that im making light of this, but Avelina could actually fit that dress too. They would have had to go toddler size in my opinion.
I was surprised that Pedro didn't know that Luis was Marissa's husband.
I think that now that Marissa has her Sherlock Holmes hat on, she is going to find all kinds of interesting and hateful things about her husband, some of which extend back to the beginning of their relationship.
I can't remember who first decided that Pedro had tried to commit suicide, but I'm tired of this story line. He IS depressed, for sure, but why doesn't anyone believe him that he didn't try to off himself with a fire. Actually, dying in a house fire is not as bad as it might seem at first. It isn't like being burned at the stake like Joan of Arc. You usually die from carbon monoxide poisoning.
As I said before, I am really sorry to watch young women like Avelina be coaxed into believing that they are unattractive. I hope that the need for an ambulance may, perhaps, cause the mean girl trio to reconsider their actions.
I am afraid that I don't understand Fer's reluctance to be with Carlos. He fell into a relationship with Isy that was very casual. His greatest show of affection for her was a shoulder shrug. Clearly, when she pulled out all the stops, she could get him to have sex with her, but this wasn't loving, committed sex. So there was some overlap in the two relationships? I think that happens, although it is not ideal. I think her clingy, cloying clutching demeanor made the transition a lot fuzzier than it really was.
Hernan is beating up the PI? Good. I hate blackmailers.
Don Fer isn't getting any younger. Bring his granddaughter around for a visit, for goodness sake. Also, since Pedro knew that Amelia was intending to go home, how is it possible that he doesn't know where she is?
Thanks again, Anita.
David
“Luis pours it on like gravy on mashed potatoes”, “I don’t see that much improvement—neither on the inside nor on the outside” and "Mariana and Luis are still “negotiating” themselves" were a few of my favorites.
I love that Fernanda went to Avelina’s rescue! What a fearsome, fearless friend. I wish Camila had similar gumption. But of course, the bullying did not stop there: “Camila and Lucero have come upon Avelina’s too small clothes and find her on the floor of the bathroom. She’s fainted dead away”. There are many sins, but to me, bullying is one of the worst. What a crafty, insidious idea. A very upsetting scene.
Another revelation (in this closely knit but seemingly unaware group): “Luis walks in and hears the name and says the gardener’s name is Pedro Perez? Yes, answers Marissa, so what?”
I sort of enjoyed Mariana toying with Luis (am I a bad person?) “He agrees to her terms and he’ll look for a way to change the terms of her father’s will so his daughter doesn’t inherit anything. (Does anyone out on our little Patio-by-the-Lake believe him?)” Nopis!
“He’s been in league with Hernán’s wife for some time now. He has enough information on her to sink her”. Hmmm. Solórzano, you are in the middle of nowhere with an infuriated husband. Now might not be the time to impart these upsetting words to a husband who has just assaulted you and who might well be carrying a gun. That said, I was surprised at the beating – I thought Hernán was going to kill him. Well, he still might (?)
I am pleased and proud that Fernanda is rebuffing Carlos (for the time being).
Of course my main concern is Pedro's precarious mental state. I am hoping Marissa will be the catalyst for him to come to terms.
Anita, this is wonderful - thank you.
Diana
I literally get sick to my stomach, when I see Blanca/Don Fer fussing and cooing over her. When is she going to get her comeuppance? I am really tired of seeing Fernanda and Pedro suffer while that bruja on wheels sits in the lap of luxury being waited on hand and foot.
I've been thinking about how this whole situation could play out. Could it be that Luis knowing that his daughter is going to inherit everything (and after being dumped/divorced by Marissa) works his way back to a waiting Amelia. He whispers the sweet nothings in her delusional ears and convinces her that he wants her back. Idiot that she is falls for it again easily (since this is her lifelong dream) and he begins to play her a fool again.
Meanwhile Pedro/Marissa begin to grow closer. Marissa tries to warn Amelia of who Luis really is and Amelia rejects Marissa's warnings as pure jealousy. This may be the real lesson of this tn. Amelia's foolish love for a man who never loved her, rejecting a good man who always did.
These are not spoilers, as I've never seen this tn or any version of it.
Thoughts?
Amelia's harder sell will be Fernando. He hates Pedro believing him the reason Amelia lost the last 18 years when it was Luis that deserves his ire. Perhaps Luis just waits till Fernando dies.
I love that this could go a bunch of different ways.
Tofie--"...Unlike most TN manufactured delays to keep lovers apart. It's not spite but a broken heart born of humiliation, being a silly schoolgirl trying to sneak out to see him while he was still in a relationship with Isabela." Most of these tn heroines break up because of "misunderstandings," "negative gossip," or seeing the galan with a rival, creating jealousy.
However, I'm with you, David. This is something they should be able to work out together. Fer even told her father, they were having problems, like any normal couple. So, she still thinks of herself as part of a couple even though she just told Carlos this is it, finite.
Tofie--"I don't understand the girl talk between Isabela and Marissa. Why even have a conversation with the woman that faked a pregnancy to snare your only child?" Right on, amiga! Why, indeed.
Diana--"I sort of enjoyed Mariana toying with Luis (am I a bad person?)" Of course not. As I said, I love to see Luis squirm, it doesn't matter who is squeezing the worm.
Delilah63--"Could it be that Luis knowing that his daughter is going to inherit everything (and after being dumped/divorced by Marissa) works his way back to a waiting Amelia." For sure. Even if he has to hold his nose to be with Amelia. $$$$ are more important. He'll try to hold onto Marissa as long as he can, but Marissa will definitely get him on the Andrea or Fernanda "things."
Kendra--"Makeover, so what? Not impressed either. Glad Old Fer called that bitch on the location of Fer." If he keeps bringing up Pedro, maybe she'll stop smiling and trying to ingratiate herself further. Unfortunately, she doesn't have to try very hard. I can't wait to see what Mariana tries next to dislodge her from Amelia's Altamirano throne.
Gotta run. Have fun the next few days. I'll be back in the recapping harness to do next Tuesday's (and posting on Wednesday, late).
I like it and its not far off my thinking.
Anita...we will miss you and i too like our small Patio. It helps with reading all of the comments. I just cant on PyP. Too many so little time
Luis comes home griping about Pedro being their gardener but Marissa cuts him off and says that, yes, they do need to talk, but about themselves; their relationship. Marissa has decided she wants Luis out of her house and out of her life.
Fer is hanging out at the school playing her violin and feeling sorry for herself. The short nun sits down with her and says she is strong and will overcome obstacles.
Luis tries to oil his way out of his marital crises, but Marissa is adamant.
Carlos visits don Fer and says how glad he feels that Fer is better. Don Fer wants him to come to a welcome home party for his long lost daughter_ _ _and hey, as long as you're here, let me introduce you two. He sends Blanca to get Amelia.
Blanca tells Amelia that she is going to meet don Fer's medico, el doctor Carlos Gomez Ruiz which scares the hell out of Amelia, but she is spared meeting him because Mariana, the chief household sociopath, comes in to tell Amelia that Pedro and Fer perished in the house fire.
Fer and the nun are practicing scales. Fer confesses that her dad doesn't want her to see Carlos anymore, and he is the love of her life.
Amelia wants to know why Mariana is always so cruel, then flashbacks show us that Mariana doesn't have a monopoly on cruelty; Amelia has sorta been a little on the cruel side for the passed 20 years. Mariana tells Amelia that she finally has what she dreamed of: Amelia is free.
Fer is in the tree by the lake wishing she was with Carlos when he shows up. She tells him she wants to pause their relationship, and they embrace.
Mariana continues torturing Amelia with accusations and guilt trips, then sh's like, "Oh, by the way, we can't tell daddy about this because it would kill him."
Fer and Carlos are still in their tree. She thinks life is tough, but he says no. There will always be things to overcome, but they can do it.
Marissa and Luis are still going at it and he gradually advances threateningly toward her and into her space. She asks if he's going to hit her. He says no, but he thinks she's acting this way because of her age. He admits he married her for her money. He insults her in a variety of ways, smiling all the while.
Carlos and Fer are still treed, and Carlos is pleading his case.
Marissa is still listening to Luis' venomous appraisal of her life, her looks, and her good for nothing son. And, according to Luis, she stinks! He will be glad to change bedrooms because he can't stand to smell her, but he is staying HERE! He blows her a hateful kiss, then leaves.
Marissa calls Ordonez and tells him she needs to see him urgently.
Carlos and Fer are walking along the lakeshore reluctantly saying goodbye to each other and exchanging te amos.
Blanca catches Amelia crying with Marian near her and says, "Now what have you done?" Mariana stomps off in a huff and Amelia tells Blanca the she just learned Pedro and Fer are dead. They cry together while in another part of the house Mariana thought bubbles that the first part of her plan is now in motion.
Camilla walks into the room with Mariana, who says, "BOO" to her. Camila walks off with an eye roll.
Luis shows up unexpectedly needing to talk to Mariana. she drags him off to the home office.
For walks alone along a railroad track telling herself that she must be strong to have another chance with Carlos.
In the office, Luis tells Mariana that he's got lots of problems at home. He wants to see his daughter. Mariana springs the "Pedro and Fer were burned up in a fire" jazz on him.
Fer and Pedro are at the construction/camp site where Fer has just made supper. They bone some more. (I didn't understand this very well. If someone can expand on it, feel free!!)
Episode 47, Apr 27, part 2
Blanca and Amelia are discussing the news of the deaths. Blanca has doubts, but Amelia asks why Mariana would say such a thing if it weren't true? Blanca doesn't know, but thinks they should check for themselves, which Amelia reluctantly agrees to.
Lucky Luis is invited to eat with Mariana, Hernan, and family. He is thought bubbling that he's gotta find his daughter or he's going to wind up on the street thanks to Marissa.
Isa tells Andrea that she needs to take the contracts to Luis' office tomorrow. Andrea is shocked and wants Isy to use another lawyer, but Isy says no. Andrea says she's uncomfortable around Luis and Marissa. Isa tells her that Marissa thinks she is Luis' amante.
Ordonez is in Marissa's living room advising her of her rights regarding the split up with Luis. I didn't understand much of this, but it appears there are going to be some problems. Carlos walks in and picks up on his mother's distress, and wants to know whats going on. Marissa dismisses Ordonez and tells Carlos she's chucking Luis out of the house. He gives her a warm hug.
Blanca is attending to Amelia when don Fer catches them and wants to know why Amelia is crying. She is vague. He tells her that if she is missing Pedro, he would accept him into the family. . .and his nieta.
Luis, Hernan, Mariana and Camila are at the table ready to eat. Mariana and Camila get into it and the mood of the evening gets so stressed that Luis excuses himself and heads for the hills. Camila should bring Avelina home with her to eat; she'd never ingest anything.
That same evening Pedro looks in on a sleeping Fer and is glad he can care for her, despite Amelia trying to ruin their lives.
Fer dreams of walking along the lake shore with her beloved Carlos, and Pedro ads a nightmare that Luis was excited to learn of Amelias pregnancy, and wanted to marry her. I think the nightmare would have been Amelia's.
She feels a great emptiness inside at the loss of Pedro. She is surprised, because the only man she ever wanted was Luis.
Luis shows up at the house the next morning and finds the maid moving furniture. He is furious. He tells her to move it back, that HE is the man of the house. Marissa walks in and they hurl insults back and forth, but she turns the tables on him from the night before and tells him he is nothing more than something like a pet dog.
Blanca is ready to take Amelia on their discovery mission when don Der shows up and nixes their plans. In front of Mariana he tells everyone he is taking Amelia to his abogado to sign an unbreakable agreement that she will be the new administrator of the estate.
Marissa walks into work and tells Lupe to cancel all her appointments and to get Ordonez to her office, when Pedro shows up. Marissa invites him into her office and tells him she's leaving Luis. She calls herself all kinds of dumb, but Pedro says she's a great woman and Luis is a louse.
Pedro is supportively holding Marissa's hand when in walks Louie the Louse, and accuses them improprieties.
Pedro has a series of flashbacks that depict Louie at his very worst, then suddenly turns on him and sucker punches him. Once he has him on the ground, he really gets into the beating and we're right there with him. But, OOPS, assault and battery are crimes even when administered to a louse?
Well, at any rate, notice the difference in fighting abilities between a man who hefts 50 pound sacks of manure all day, and a man who just hands out manure to all and sundry.
Here is a quote that I think covers this episode very well:
"Women and money are the most sought after, and least known about of any two things we have."
-Will Rogers
David
"Luis tries to oil his way out of his marital crises" and "Well, at any rate, notice the difference in fighting abilities between a man who hefts 50 pound sacks of manure all day, and a man who just hands out manure to all and sundry" were among many favorites.
It's close, but I think Mariana is more vile than Luis. One lie spews after the next. Thank God for Blanca - I hope Amelia decides to check this. It's hard to fathom that such outright lies and secrets remain hidden in this small community, but they do. (Luis being married to Marissa, etc., etc.)
“He says no, but he thinks she's acting this way because of her age. He admits he married her for her money. He insults her in a variety of ways, smiling all the while”, “Marissa is still listening to Luis' venomous appraisal of her life, her looks, and her good for nothing son”…As we say over on PyP, Die, Luis, Die…
"Uh, oh. This looks like the beginning of Amelia's redemption". David, I had the very same thought! While I have no qualms with Amelia treating Pedro as a human being, he has suffered enough and deserves far more - Marissa...And if she did become a loving mother to Fer, I would be happy. Better late than never.
Marvelous Will Rogers quote.
Anita, hurry back - we miss you.
David, thank you, thank you.
Diana
I like Will Rogers quotes a lot, but believe it or not, the one that he is best known for, "I never met a man I didn't like" I don't like. I prefer Winston Churchill's "You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life."
Winston also has some thoughts on our characters in this tn:
Luis: "He has all of the virtues I dislike, and none of the vices I admire."
Mariana: "However beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally look at the results."
Isy: "The poor girl does not know how to have a conversation. Unfortunately, she does know how to speak."
David
I had to LOL at Marissa's insults to Luis. She actually told him he's the pet of the house who should wait for his wife's check while she has to do to work! Way to go, girl! That's the Marissa I like to see. She's supposed to be the head of a bank for God's sake, the writers cannot make her look like some weak, silly woman.
So, it seems Amelia is going to be redeemed after all? While she was in bed she actually said she thinks she loves Pedro? Oh, I think this is guilt talking. While I would be happy to see her redeemed for Fer's sake (this sweet girl deserves a mum who cares for her), I honestly want her far away from Pedro. This wonderful man deserves to have a healthy relationship for once, and Marissa is right there waiting.
While I enjoyed seeing Pedro beating up Luis like that, I think it is going to get him into trouble. The man practically assaulted Luis for no good reason.
I had to smile at "The man practically assaulted Luis for no good reason" though. I think he really does have reason although I wouldn't blame him for being surprised for being pummeled simply for showing up! ;) Well deserved, I say.
Diana
Yeah, Marissa recovered nicely overnight and came out with fangs and claws unsheathed. I liked how the maid laughed at his situation.
I totally agree that it would be ok for Amelia to be redeemed for Fer's sake, but not to get back with Pedro. The Pedro/Amelia relationship has been too toxic for too long to be resuscitated. Marissa looks to me to be a much better fit.
And, yeah, Pedro's going to be in trouble over his beat down of Luis. Luis doesn't like to lose at anything, and especially not to a measly low life jardinero. There's going to be some legal shenanigans going on here including the cops. Like you, I really enjoyed the beat down, but the rule of law must apply, even to lice.
David
Pedro has many reasons to want to assault Luis, that's for sure. But others don't know that, they don't know the history these two have, with Amelia's abandonment etc. They will simply think Pedro has suddenly lost his mind. That's what I meant.
Finally, we see some decency in Amelia. If Pedro does go to jail, maybe she'll take Fernanda to the hacienda. I hate the thought of Fernanda being alone in a burned-out hut with no doors. It's not safe, and imagine the bugs!
A while back, I checked out the Instagram pages for some of our actors. Jorge Aravena's page had spoilers (scenes from the fire), so I think they are about a month ahead of us in Mexico. I don't think Lissette Morelos's page has any spoilers. She has a very different personality than most folks, and you all might find her photos interesting, if not scary, in an Addams family kind of way.
WARNING: The Camino Instagram page has spoilers. I saw some different clothes and hairstyles and clicked away very quickly. This TN has surprises in every episode and I'd like to keep it that way.
I hadn't thought of Pedro going to jail as a reason to get Fer out of the shack, but that could indeed be what happens.
Also, thanks for the info on various web sites.
David
Best part of last night was when Marissa pushed right by Luis on the way out to work. Errrr, he better be gone tonight. I for one was dumbfounded she had his bags packed, certain she would live with the creeps lie.
Nooooooooooooo, no tears from Amelia now it's not fair! However, I'm confident if she discovers they are not dead she'll snap back like elastic to bitchy bangs sour puss. Why doesn't she pick up the phone and make a call to the school. Easy and quick.
Mariana astounds me with her lies. Lies that can be easily debunked yet she rolls them off her tongue.
SHE CANNOT still be inlove with this miscreant. This is a woman who doesn't skip a beat when she hears that her daughter may have been in danger of being burned alive in a house fire. Enough about her.
As bad as fer has it, at least her dad puts her first. That poor avilena's parents, I don't know what the hell they're thinkin. They're not. At least not about her.
Im glad when isy went to harrass fer, fer didn't back down. I wish that bowl was full of dirty fish water.
That little girl that's anorexic, she needs some help and then she needs to divorce herself from her parents because they're crazy. Shes gonna die tryin to please those psychopaths. Poor thing.
This show is full of crazy people. And the ones thats not (pedro) they're tryin to make him seem crazy.
David
I too agree about Mariana's lies. She is pathelogical. They are so crazy but roll out so easily.
Luis has gotten a beat down but i guess he will know that Pedro's not dead so maybe his daughter isn't either. He knows Mariana lies better than he does.
Poor Pedro. I saw that blow up coming in those flashbacks he was having.
Amelia lost her chance at redemption for me when she decided to tell her family she hates them for ruining her life.
I have to admit that the fact that Louie the Louse was beaten up by a "dead" man went right over my head! This will surely play into the script as things unfold.
David
David
There was intense conversation between Marissa and Luis after but unfortunately I could not understand most of it. I gather Luis intends to prosecute (?) His not so handsome to begin with face was rendered even more unattractive by Pedro's fast fists.
In other events, the mean girls are still at it, sorely tempting to give another (although surely less savage) beat-down, but that did not occur.
Lucero and her hot prof were caught kissing. Her mother was none too pleased as was the sister but he professed his love for Lu...
Whether we like it or not, Amelia is starting to regret her contemptible behavior. She sadly reminisced as Fer begged her to go to the graduation ceremony and flinched at her own cruelty...
I should have taken notes but this is all I can remember.
Anita, we miss you!
Diana
Marissa immediately called Ordonez and he cleverly used temporary insanity to stop the arrest of Pedro after Luiscifer gave his statement to the popo.
Carlos believes Pedro is a danger to himself and others and thinks the best place for him is a psychiatric hospital. Fernanda pushes back on his remedy, he ain't a psychiatrist, though they both know something ain't right with Pedro. Carlos and another doctor discussed bringing in a specialist to access Pedro and the guy is young but good and on his way.
Marianna went to Fernando and bitched about Blanca, saying she was getting too mouthy and too possessive of Amelia. This didn't allow Marianna to be close to her long lost sister and wants to dismiss Blanca.
Blanca took Amelia to the shack to confirm the fire and death of Pedro and Fernanda. As she approached Rosaura and another nun were leaving, Amelia asked are they dead and Rosaura shouted back it was ironic for Ameila to inquire since she herself told both they were dead to her when she left. Ameila misunderstood that as confirmation Pedro and Fernanda were dead.
I've been fooled before by Amelia and not gonna fall for it again.
After giving Luis an epic smack down, Marissa insists to Ordonez that this is not Pedro. Pedro is taken away in a strait jacket. Meanwhile Amelia accompanies Don Fer to see his attorney... Luis Montero. Amelia has a cara impactada!
Adelina's mother shows up to learn she suffered an attack due to bulimia. Mom thinks it's just a silly tonteria ( foolishness) We're treated to small psa on statistics. It's suggested Adelina be put in rehabilitation for her disorder. Mom is heartbroken and vows to be with her daughter.
Marissa looks over Pedro's handiwork on an unconscious Luis face. "Why did things have to end up this way Luis? Why did I never realize the monster you really are. I imagined you my prince. You know, it hurts me to see you this way but I didn't deserve to be insulted and humiliated. Pedro only wanted to defend me. But no...no..no, see how far your hatred and ambition has taken you - "
Just then Luis snatches her hand hissing "how easy everything is for you. You have no idea the hell I'm preparing for you. I'll sue you and send that man to jail and you too. I'll leave you in ruins. You'll finally know what it means to be hungry!" Marissa rubs her now free hand, visibly disturbed.
Rosaura is surprised to see Lucero's mom she wasn't expecting her. It's not a social call, mom is not happy that she has stopped receiving monthly reports on Lucero's academic and social conduct. Newsflash! Lucero is not in prep school anymore she is a hot college coed who can do what she wants. The nuns don't gotta report nothing! Mom isn't happy, after all she pays the bills and has rights. Rosaura says well with all due respect the problem is you don't let Lucero live her life..be normal. Moms not happy and threatens to remove her daughter. Meanwhile Lucero who is worried about her bestie Adelina recounts how horrible it was finding her friend. They've been besties since they both arrived at the school. She seeks comfort in professor Diegos arms. Mom who is ranting while being followed by Rosaura comes upon the professor fine tuning Lucero's french skills.
It gets ugly. Mom is shutting the school down and taking Lucero. She'll ask for Diegos resignation too. Rosaura pleads. Lucero says she loves Diego. Diego says he feels the same way, he'll resign but he's not giving up Lucero. Pfffft! Mom replies your'e a man you only want one thing, to hump and dump. Whatever Lucero says you don't know what you're talking about. Mom scoffs "What.. you think you can offer someone a normal life with you're mental illness? Rosaura intervenes asking that mom not be cruel. Lucero is emboldened now "it's ok mother she's always been this way, but she won't control me now ". Mom grabs Lucero "We're going home! " Lucero pulls away "No!" Mom "Are you challenging me?" Lucero says no she's simply going to fight for her studies and the man she loves. Mom will have to accept the life she's chosen to live. Mom says very calmly "fine...thats fine" before leaving them and giving Diego a 'you better watch your back bro' look as she stomps away.. Rosaura knows it's not fine at all..trouble is about to brew. She wishes the young lovers had handled things differently, now they are all going to lose their jobs and the school. "We'll fight" Diego says. He turns his attention back to his amazonian girlfriend.
Later in class Lucero is the envy of the mean girls..you have a hot older man. Whatever Lucero says "it's not his looks it his personality that matters. Rrrright the meanies respond..his looks sure help, admit it. Fer and Cami tell them to knock it off, give Lucero her peace. Rosaura arrives in time for the girls to adjust their attention to the matter at hand." Things are bad right? I'm getting kicked out" A worried Lucero says. No things didn't turn out bad but sister Magdalia will come to explain things. "Well then why the long face?" Fer asks. "you need to come with me to the hospital" "Why?" she asks. Mean girl says "Why else? That bad luck of yours appeared again"
Marissa who is still hanging at Luis bedside "You're disgusting". "Yeah..yeah all women who realize they've been played by a man say that". "Well those blows and bruises to your face are an improvement..they reflect the asshole monster you are and you deserved them
"Thanks, because these bruises are going to come in handy with the Attorney general, I'll ruin that gardener and then you!"
Marissa realizes Luis hate is deeper than she first thought. "Why do you hate me? Why do you hate Pedro?, it's clear you hate him"
"You're right I do hate him...very much..I hate him" Knowing how insecure Marissa is about her age Luis decides to inflict one more sharpened arrow her way. "Be certain of this, it's because of someone much...much younger than you" The arrow strikes-- Marissa is clearly bothered.
Lucero wants to know if Diego was sincere when he said he loved her. "Yes, I feel the purest love with the most innocent child I've ever known. I could try to deny it and run away but I can't help it. I love you Lucero" (umm..creepy writers, I kid you not that is what he said). They resume her private french lessons.
(I forgot this scene earlier)Bitchy bangs and Blanca are discussing louse Luis. "why such an obstinate love for him?" Blanca asks. "I can't explain it.. I can't even understand it myself" Amelia responds with what almost appears to be shame. "I just know it's a sick obsessive love, that I can't handle. I don't even mind what he did to me. I love him. I would forgive him a thousand times. If he wanted..I would share my life with him. Blanca issues a warning this idiot surely won't heed; "you better hope that same love doesn't ruin you girl". They head off to verify Mariana's story about the fire.
Fer comes to find her papito looking helpless. She kisses his face, "Papito..papito (daddy) trying to reach his distant gaze. Finally Pedro snaps back to reality to see his precious Fer is there. He begs her to free him from the constraints."please honey, I want to hug you too" She can't she replies helplessly. "Why? Is it because you're afraid of me?" "No daddy, I could never fear you, you're very good, youre an angel" Pedro remembers the save beat down, the blood on his knuckles as Luis lay motionless. "I'm not, I'm a beast, you're the daughter of a beast who is capable of killing another human being. Well Pedro we'll discuss the human being part later. Anyway Fer hugs her papito. "keep calm, I love you, you're not capable of killing anyone" But to no avail, broken Pedro insists he did it..he killed that man. Fer continues to soothe her poor father.
Amelia sees the burnt house and encounters Rosaura, who tearfully reminds bitchy that ironically she once told Pedro and Fer she was dead well now they are dead for her. She leaves a horrified Amelia who cries "It's not true..come back Rosaura...come back!" she falls out of the chair, crawling in despair over her loss. With a final look back Rosaura says believe it, my brother and your daughter are dead for you. Blanca is crushed as she watches bitchy on the ground realizing she's lost her family. Too little too late you ice cold witch. Someone get her a broom.
Pedro is still not doing well and fights against Carlos as Fer and Lupe look on sadly. Finally Pedro Is sedated. Meanwhile Luis issues his complaint to his team of lawyers. Marissa sees this an issues an emergency to Ordonez . Lupe and a sister comfort Fer, Carlos tells them her father is very bad, so he's called neurologist Dr Artaega to run tests and advise them.
Mariana can't believe they went to see the burnt out house, she didn't want her sister to experience such pain. Well it's too late and now Amelia hates herself. She doesn't know what she'll do with this pain. Oh well we give you about five minutes you wretched woman. Mariana warns bitchy to pull herself together because if dad finds out she'll lose him too. Amelia says she couldn't bear it, they are her only family now. Lucky them. Did you see Luis? Mariana asks. No he didn't even notify his secretary he wasn't coming in. They both wonder what could have detained him. He ran into a talented plastic surgeon.
Pedro wakes groggy and unaware he's not tied up anymore. Fer shows him they can hug now, but not for long. The authorities arrive. Pedro is under arrest. Fernanda prohibits them from getting near her father with handcuffs. Just then Ordonez arrives with a file that proves Pedro is no criminal. Nor did he attempt to commit murder.
Carlos talks to his friend Dr Marco Artaega, "Pedro is very aggressive, I had to sedate him. He was hysterical most likely because of the psychotic crisis he went through" Dr Artaega says he'd like to help but Pedro had most likely a mental breakdown from his lingerig depression. He needs a Psychiatrist. They may have a road ahead once he's out of sedation.
Meanwhile Fer strokes her fathers face, the authorities are gone. She's not going to let anyone hurt him or take him to jail. Ordonez assures Pedro that he is also going to do what he can to make sure Pedro is handled fairly, he knows Pedro is a good man. Marissa tells Pedro "don't worry, you have all of my support whatever you need". Fer realizes her father is not responding to their efforts. "Dad ..are you listening to us?" Pedro obviously exhausted from life and his bad luck sighs "Yes, but it doesn't change that I'm guilty" Marissa says he was only defending her, she's guilty for telling him all her problems. " You got violent to defend your people." Ordonez says Marissa is lucky she would have received her own violence from Luis. Fer upset by her fathers defeated attitude says we're trying to help you , but you aren't responding. You aren't thinking about me. Pedro says he always thinks of her. Fernanda says well this is not you...you never give up. Pedro is out of it..hes got nothing left. Fer leaves, too upset. Marissa comes to Pedro's side. She knows her friend is in a bad way.
Outraged that Pedro wasn't arrested Luis rants to his attorney that the law has failed decent people like him. Well that's the breaks his attorney says. Pedro has a better attorney that presented a slam dunk. What? Luis demands. Marissa saunters in, "a document that is backed up by the best doctors that all confirm Pedro was not in his right mind when he hit you." Luis attorney knowing it's over leaves.
Fer is walking with sister Sonrisa, she wonders if someone can suddenly lose their mind. Sonrisa says maybe all she knows is there are usually signs. Fer sees Carlos and goes to hug him "Thank you for being here with me every time I need you. I'll always be here he says.
Luis is still unconvinced, the doctors who have examined Pedro are corrupt and liars. "No, my son is not corrupt or a liar. Hearing Carlos is involved outrages Luis even further. "Of course your son, it had to be your damn son who got involved in this. Marissa twists the knife further "Well my son is a decent man and he's always been able to unmask you for who you really are. You're the villain in all of this. First you went after Fernanda and now her father. Luis sounding like a brat "They messed with me first!". What about me Marissa asks "Did I mess with you? No, and finally you won't get your way this time. Pedro is not going to jail and you won't ruin me. Pedro and I have the same kick ass attorney!". Luis says "you want a war?" Marissa says "You want a war and I'll give you one, I'll fight back for myself and those I love,". Luis tries to intimidate her but Marissa puts up her hands "oh please, I'm fed up with you, seriously I'm fed up" She smiles relieved the trash has been put out. "Now I'm going to my house where for the first time I'll finally have peace because you won't be there". She gives a silent prayer of thanks placing her palms together. The patio says Amen! As she leaves from the revival Luis begs her to listen to him. He'll get his revenge.
Fer asks where Dr Artaega is. Carlos explains that it will be a psychiatrist coming, dr Javier Farias. Fer is worried but sister Sonrisa and Carlos rally around. " Keep calm, everything is going to be fine.
Don Fer is in his bedroom looking for his medicine. Mariana walks in as he enquires where they are. She is happy he is clear minded enough to know it's time for his meds and she goes to his bedside table to get the pills. She begins approaching him about her problems with Blanca. Since Amelia arrived she's changed, she's become difficult with the staff, arrogant. Mariana can't even spend time with Amelia. Blanca has to go. Don Fer is clearly exhausted with this mess.
Carlos insists Fer must remain calm it's going to take time, they made to admit him to a psychiatric hospital. Fer is not happy. Meanwhile Pedro relives the beating, horrified by his actions. "Finally I did it, I vented years if pain. Luis Montero was always a shadow over me and my family" he gets out of bed and walks to the window remembering he and bitchy bangs with Fer, all together. "my family, oh Amelia, my family that's torn apart. Oh Amelia I'm going crazy...where you. Don't return to me if you don't love me, but what about Fernanda? She's your daughter and she needs us. She's not to blame for our mistakes. Where are you?". He doesn't know how much longer he'll be able to take care of Fer.
Amelia is in her own hell remembering her cruelty to her daughter, the abuse and neglect. Missing Fers graduation. She realizes it is too little too late. There is no point they are gone. Shes not worthy of their forgiveness soshe won't ask.
Fer forbids her dad being committed until that dr gives a firm diagnosis. The end.
I hope I did the show justice and Anita in some small way.
Oh my heavens, yes. That and so much more... This was incredibly detailed and very well written.
"Mom who is ranting while being followed by Rosaura comes upon the professor fine tuning Lucero's french skills" and "Knowing how insecure Marissa is about her age Luis decides to inflict one more sharpened arrow her way" were my favorites of many.
"Finally I did it, I vented years if pain. Luis Montero was always a shadow over me and my family" By his own admission, Pedro released all his pent up anger and frustration in beating down the decidedly deserving Luis. Pedro has now unfortunately and unintentionally confirmed the suspicious fears of others that he is deeply depressed. The patio knows better. He was only defending his memory of his family. Sadly, the family as he wanted it to be, not as it actually was with the cold, bitter unfeeling wife and mother.
"Amelia sees the burnt house and encounters Rosaura, who tearfully reminds bitchy that ironically she once told Pedro and Fer she was dead well now they are dead for her. She leaves a horrified Amelia who cries "It's not true..come back Rosaura...come back!" she falls out of the chair, crawling in despair over her loss. With a final look back Rosaura says believe it, my brother and your daughter are dead for you". Very powerful words. It was a heartbreaking scene. As terrible as Amelia has been, I couldn't help but be moved. I was a bit surprised that Rosaura gave such a curt reply when it was obvious Amelia was completely distraught. I can't blame Rosaura, but her response was not worthy of someone so admirable.
Pedro has the love of Fer and the unwavering support of Marissa. He will survive this.
Amidst all the turmoil, a small ray of hope: "We'll fight" Diego says. He turns his attention back to his amazonian girlfriend". I had to smile. How sweet and how impractical. Good luck to this couple who thanks to a few small stolen kisses are estranged from Lucero's family and Diego, out of a job.
Delilah, have you recapped previously? If not, I hope you consider it. You are a natural.
Thank you for your obvious care and effort on this.
Diana
