The three primetime TNs are all scheduled to end on Monday, July 18.

Eva

I'll try to do a quick recap of tonight's episode and have it up before I go to bed.

I'll be looking forward in putting Esclava on DVR! I hope that the good guys survive from evil Nicolas & his evil mother!

EVA LA TRAILERA - JUEVES - Parte 1 de 2

As the episode opens, Cinthia is telling Soraya that Robert wanted to stop Pancho from suing him. He went to Marlene, and she asked Andy to take charge of getting rid of the Mogollons. "I was there, but I did nothing. I didn't want this. Tell me you'll help me. Forgive me!" Soraya tells Cinthia that she has to do what's right, she has to denounce Robert right now. Soraya will accompany her.

Robert is in a border town, apparently trying to disguise himself by wearing a cowboy hat. The omnipresent TV is broadcasting news about the Palacios and their presumed accomplices, Robert and Cinthia Monteverde. [Even though at the moment the police have no hard evidence?]

At TOHILA [The Only Hospital In Los Angeles], the doctor is explaining to Armando why he can't feel his legs. A bullet fragment is pressing on the spinal column, preventing the brain from receiving signals from the legs. Armando isn't interested in explanations, he just wants to know whether he'll be able to walk, yes or no. Not likely, says the doctor.

SweetFace and Reynaldo continue their God-forbid-that-I-show-that-I-care conversation.

Adri is sitting at Armando's bedside. Evencio is also present. Armando loses it; he starts yelling and thrashing about. He looks up at the ceiling and screams at either the ceiling lamp or God, "Is this your vengeance? Kill me!"
Adri tells him "This isn't what I learned from you. You taught me to confront matters, not run from them. Fabi and I are here to care for you." Evencio urges Armando to listen to Fabi: "I wish I had someone say that to me."

Robert finds someone with a boat that's going to Vera Cruz, Mexico. He tells the guy he wants to be on that boat. Told that it's not cheap, he offers $3000 in cash and his watch, which he says is worth $7000. After examining the watch to be sure it's not a fake, the guy says "I'm leaving first thing tomorrow morning. Be here then." A short time later, the boat guy passes by the omnipresent TV, which is apparently obsessed with the Palacios and their presumed accomplices, since that's all it seems to show. However, this time its coverage includes photos of Cinthia and Robert. The guy seems to recognize that his passenger is Robert.

A mostly sober Cinthia wimps out. "I'm not going to confess anything. I'm not going to denounce anyone." Soraya tries to persuade her but she runs away.

Pablo comes to Eva's with flowers. He wants to visit. Federica says no, and asks Pablo not to insist. Eva needs total rest. "Pablo, your presence stresses her out." Pablo is about to leave when a rather upset Soraya comes in. She tells Federica and Pablo about her strategy for getting Cinthia to confess and plays them the recording. Pablo says he's very impressed with how clever she is, but unfortunately the recorded confession wouldn't be legally acceptable because Cinthia was clearly drunk when she confessed, and so her testimony wouldn't be admissible. Pablo advises her to have patience. Luis then joins them. Esteban has told him about the cameras, and he wants to see the recording. After seeing it, he says "She knew, she knew." Federica says "she not only knew, she was an accomplice." Luis is furious at what he's learned and rushes out the door, angrily yelling for Cinthia. Soraya races after him to calm him down before he ruins the whole plot.

EVA LA TRAILERA - JUEVES - Parte 2 de 2

Still feeling very sorry for himself, Armando tells Evencio, "I've always been so proud of my strength, my health. And now I'm useless. I can't even go to the bathroom by by myself, and I can't satisfy a woman. I want to die." Evencio tells him "A man is more than his legs or his...." Armando agrees to have the operation and see what happens. "I don't want to be an obstacle to anyone. I'll kill myself."

Pablo bursts into the police station and asks the police jefe what the police are doing to protect Eva and her family. "Or do you want more tragedies?" When the jefe says they don't have enough people to assign someone to protect just one person, Pablo says "OK, let me do it. Just give me back my shield and my permission to carry a gun." The jefe says no. Fajardo says he thinks Pablo is right, that Marlene is going to try again to kill Eva. The jefe tells Fajardo he should have nothing to do with that arrogant Contreras.

Soraya explains to Luis that the present recording won't hold up legally. "We have to pursuade Cinthia to give a statement when she's sober. We have to convince her that's it the right thing. Soraya asks Luis to talk to her. "If she loves anyone in her life, it's you." Luis is angry at Cinthia and doesn't want to approach her. However, he then talks to Adri. She understands how he feels, she says, but he owes it to his father to get justice. "And with your charisma and powers of persuasion...."

The priest comes to see Armando but I didn't catch what he said. Something about only he is responsible for being here.

Persuaded by Adri's arguments, Luis goes to Cinthia's room. She doesn't want to let him in, but then he says "Mamá, I just want to talk to you, mother to son." "Mamá" is the magic word. She opens the door. She says she named him Bobby and insists on calling him that. He replies, "You know why I changed my name. I didn't want you to call me by your husband's name." Neat move: now he and Cinthia are allied against Robert. She's still reluctant to go to the police, but he finally helps her see that by going to the police, she'd make it possible for him to begin to forgive her and to continue to love her. "What do you say, Mamá?" They pass near the living room, where Soraya and Adri are talking, and leave the house. Soraya jumps up, grabs her pocketbook, and tells Adri that surely they're going to the police station, and she doesn't want to miss Cinthia's confession.

The scene shifts to Rebecca and Marlene--the wigged duo--waiting for Andy before they go off to do in Eva. Andy says he's not going. If he's going to die, he'll die his way. He'll wait for them here, and if they don't show up by tomorrow, he'll cross the frontier by himself.

Pablo, Martin, JJ, and Marisol are talking about how to protect Eva. Marisol says she and JJ will accompany Pablo, while Martin watches over Diego and Cecilia. JJ isn't so sure. Marisol calls him a coward. He replies that he prefers a live coward to a dead brave man. "OK," says Marisol, "you can stay with Martin and change diapers. I don't think that's too dangerous." JJ decides to go with Pancho.

At the police station, Fajardo and Pardo are talking. Pardo asks "Do you think that Rebecca and Marlene are going to do something to Eva? I think it's too risky." Fajardo replies that if someone were to ask him, he'd say no, but he trusts Pablo's instincts. At that moment, Luis and Cinthia arrive. Luis tells the two officers that Cinthia has something very important to tell them. Cinthia announces, "I have come to confess all that we did, my husband Robert Monteverde...and I." End of episode.

La Esclava Blanca... epi 55, Thursday,

Milagros gives Adela her bath and they chat, Adela asks about the foreman, the doc says he will heal but slowly, answers Milagros, he's the father of your baby right, yes, your baby will be free under the "law of free birth" right, but Milagros has her doubts after Rosita was killed, but Adela assures her the baby will be free, she'll make sure of it, and as Milagros is anxious to go, Adela asks her for a favor, pray for my son, Milagros quietly says she can't Que? and Adela has a fit, threatening punishment, Milagros says we both know your son is not a saint, and tells her what happened to Hilaria, tied behind a horse till she died, don't ask me to pray for a man that lies to his mother.

Victoria has the soldiers watch the house, as the slaves are locked in..

Adela goes to Nicolas, he wants to know where Victoria is, gone to Santa Marta to pray for you, Adela wants to know about Hilaria, Nicolas tells her, she died along the way, Adela is upset, Nicolas tells her to cut the drama and get him some water.

Lorenza and Ana are nervous at Felipe's house, Paca shows, but she has decided not to go, Paca tells Ana you are the only person who has been good to me, I won't leave you alone, Ana thinks it's best if she does but will respect her decision, they hug, and so it is just Lorenza and Felipe who leave.

Felipe senses they are being followed, and sends Lorenza ahead as they split up, it's Francisco and Felipe circles around behind him, takes his gun, why are you following me, and Francisco gets on him about Ana, what you are doing is illegal he says, what we do is our business, Felipe barks back, and leaves, he has business to attend to.

Adela has gone to the kitchen yelling for Siervo, but no one is there, outside the guards are by the house, why aren't they patrolling, and at the barracks, there is no one, Adela flips and sends the soldiers to get the General.

Lorenza finally arrives at the inn, everyone is nervous, she tells of being followed, a tall captain, this doesn't help, Manuela is worried for Jesus, and for Gabriel, after they leave Manuela talks to Isabel and let's her know how it is, Gabriel is mine, go find another.

Francisco's men wait on the hill above the tunnel and notice Gabriel and Jesus, and the boat anchored off shore, the leader goes to the stone bar to meet with Francisco and let him know that it's today, Francisco says they have to act fast, once they reach the boat they are gone.

the first slaves come through the tunnel and pour out on the beach, Francisco's men wait for the boss.

Alonso is trying to talk some sense into his dad, give Eugenia a couple of our slaves to care for her and send her home, the General asks Alonso where his compassion is, when the General gets the word of a massive slave escape, and of the waiting boat, and he splits his men, some to plantations and some with him to the boat.

La Esclava Blanca... epi 55, Thursday,
part 2

Francisco, a former captain, has this planned well, but he makes it clear, Miguel is his, and he is also shown the white women, ah the Marquesa is leading the escape, he also wants her taken to flaunt in Nicolas' face, but wait for my order, kill everyone, show no mercy, they wait for Miguel (the leader) to appear.

two small boats await to take them out to the larger one, Victoria is there as the slaves stream out onto the beach, but where is Miguel and Tomas, Lorenza says they'll be last, they are always ones to look out for others first.

and as Tomas and Miguel appear out of the tunnel, and on to the beach, Seirvo falls behind with his bad legs he looks so elated, his first time to see the ocean, and free at last, and is the first to fall as Francisco gives the order to shoot,

Angela makes it into one of the boats.

hurry, hurry,

Victoria is frantic to get to Miguel but Reme makes a pretty good anchor and keeps holding her back.

everyone drops to avoid the gunfire as Francisco and his men come down to the beach, Miguel keeps Tomas from going back for Siervo, the two small boats make it off the beach with some,

Miguel and Tomas make a run for it, but Tomas twists his ankle, and falls.

Gabriel sees it's an ambush and runs to help, Jesus hesitates and is shot, Gabriel jumps Francisco but is no match and gets knocked out but as Francisco gets ready to shoot, Miguel appears, they fight, Francisco now with his knife, and it seems pretty even, but Francisco pulls his gun, wow, Miguel is so done for, when Trinidad appears out of nowhere and grabs Francisco from behind, and takes him down with a kick and a punch, and chokes him to death, Miguel and Trinidad hug like long lost brothers.

Victoria and her girls are all grabbed, they fight back. but it's a losing battle, although Victoria is getting in some good licks with an oar that was left behind, Reme gets punched to the ground, but when Miguel and Trinidad get there, it's over, you don't mess with their women.

and here comes the General and men. galloping down the beach, Miguel urges everyone to run for the hills, Tomas is down with the bad ankle and is left behind, while one of Francisco's men has a bead on Gabriel but Alonso jumps the guy from his horse, ah but the gun goes off hitting Alonso in the chest, the General rushes to his side as Gabriel jumps the shooter, they fight but Gabriel gets his gun and fires, killing him.

La Esclava Blanca... epi 55, Thursday,
part 3

Felipe arrives back at his house, this puzzles Ana, he never went, Francisco was following him and he thought he might compromise the plan, ah yes they should all be gone by now, Felipe looks sad, he didn't even get to say goodbye.

the soldiers clean up, rounding up the dead, and tying together the captured slaves for the march back, Tomas is at the head of that line, and as they are marching yells "long live the causa" and with a rifle butt to the head is now being dragged.

a soldier arrives at the inn looking for the doc, there has been a terrible massacre, I think they go to the Generals, Manuela wants to know where Jesus is, but spots Gabriel who is busy getting the doc for Alonso, but he's lost too much blood, and dies.

at Eden Adela caring for Nicolas wonders where the General is, Nicolas is hungry, have Milagros fix me something to eat, not here, went to Santa Marta with Victoria, Isabel? left, but Nicolas keeps bugging her and she spills, the negroes have all escaped, Nicolas flips, how? it's all Adela can do to calm him down.

as Victoria, Reme, Lorenza, Miguel, Trinidad, Enith, and a few others fight there way through the brush, Enith is upset that Victoria is with them, it was a trap, they knew we were coming, maybe Victoria and Reme sold them out, Miguel tries to convince her we are all on the same side, and later Victoria says she has to go back, what?, I was in Santa Marta, the only white men that saw me are dead, they won't know, and you know what they will do to Tomas if I'm not there, Lorenza agrees.

Felipe and Ana are on there way to the inn to hear how things went when Paca comes running, tears in her eyes, they killed all of them...

Eva

thanks so much for the recap Juanita!

"the wigged duo" and little mister riding hood, Batman beware.

Esclava Blanca

Thanks for the recap, deb! I haven't watched yet amd I'm a little scared to! So many deaths :(

ESCLAVA:

Thanks so much, Deb, for recapping this tough episode. I changed the channel just before the beach massacre started, and came back when the small band was escaping through the jungle. I don't feel the need to go back and watch. My only question is, did anyone get to the big ship?

Please, please let Tomas survive!

Esclava

Many thanks, deb, for your brave and excellent recap. To be honest, I was happy to do the Eva recap last night. It gave me a good excuse not to watch the massacre in Esclava (though I couldn't escape completely--they showed a glimpse of Francisco shooting Siervo in a "coming soon" enticement (??) during a commercial break on Eva).

BTW, loved your comment re the Eva recap: "'the wigged duo' and little mister riding hood, Batman beware."

Esclava:

Juanita: The Body Count on this TN is so high, it's sad indeed. I don't see any happy ending on this one.

Where is Isabel ?

Eva. Excellent recap as usual, Juanita! You are really going above and beyond with this novela. I particularly liked your observation about the tv news item on Robert and Cinthia. Not only do the police have no hard evidence, but I wasn't even aware that the news outlets knew anything about their possible involvement. And how did Telemundo get José Díaz-Balart, the Walter Cronkite of Spanish-language news, to do the broadcast? I also like your observation "the omnipresent TV, which is apparently obsessed with the Palacios." And yep, it was a neat move on Luis's part to explain why he no longer calls himself Bobby, securing Cinthia as an ally. Sometimes that young man is surprisingly smart. Pablo was absolutely right about Cinthia's drunken confession. I did wonder though if she said anything concrete enough to give the police some more evidence to pursue against her and Robert--of course that turns out to be irrelevant when Cinthia is really willing to confess sober. I wonder if Robert is going to end up as food for the fish off Vera Cruz. The actor playing Rey is excellent at showing a loving expression on his face, despite what he's saying to Ana. All that threshing around can't be good for Armando's prognosis--though I presume it might help the actor win an award. The jefe is an idiot as usual. Yep, the priest tells Armando that Armando himself is responsible for what has happened to him. I thought it was hilarious that JJ was more afraid of changing diapers than confronting assassins. Wonder what will happen if he and Marisol marry and have children. :)

Eva

Many thanks, SpanProf, for your encouraging remarks and very interesting comments. Yes, Luis can be surprisingly smart at times, when he's not being a total idiot. He, Adri, and Soraya make a formidable team!

I find myself wondering what gives with the police jefe. This time, at least, I understood some of his annoyance. Pablo was rude, bursting into his office like a raging bull. But still, it would have made good sense to give Pablo the powers he needed to protect Eva. At times I find myself wondering whether we'll find at the end that the jefe is on Norteño's payroll. Though since I think he and Martin are on good terms, that's probably not the case. He's just pigheaded and stubborn. So what else is new?

I'm really eager to see tonight's episode, but I'll be out tonight and may not get to see it until tomorrow.

Esclava Blanca

Man, that was sad. I'm not even sure how many people died. Granados, Alonso, Jesus, Siervo, who knows how many slaves and all of Granados' men.

Looks like about 10 slaves were captured, including Tomas. I couldn't even tell how many small boats there were, but at least 2 or 3 were full of people on the way to the big boat so some people did manage to escape.

Enith and a few others escaped to the mountains with Miguel, Trinidad, Lorenza, Milagros, Remedios, and Victoria.

Esclava

they mentioned a special chapter for monday, maybe it will be one of those pieced together ones from earlier shows to let people catch up for the final.

also I have a meeting tuesday night and won't be able to do the recap, if anyone's interested.

La Esclava Blanca – Friday, July 8 – Capítulo 56, part 1/2

In the jungle, Victoria tells Miguel she has to go back for her father. She can’t abandon him. He reluctantly agrees. He’ll find a way to send a message to her so she knows where they are hiding.

At the inn, the doctor sees Isabel helping a patient and admonishes her being irresponsible but then realizes she did a good job. He asks her to help triage the patients.

Gabriel apologizes to his father. They are still with Alonso’s body. The General is angry that Gabriel helped the slaves and that he didn’t tell him anything about it. Gabriel defends himself – the slaves were treated worse than animals; escaping was their only salvation. The General reminds him what they saw on the beach. It was a massacre. And now he has no sons left. Everyone saw Gabriel help the slaves; why couldn’t he have avoided being seen? He can’t defend him anymore; he has to respect the law. The General calls a soldier into the room and orders him to arrest Gabriel.

Isabel sees Gabriel being led out. He asks her to tell Manuela that he’s been arrested.
Remedios doesn’t want to listen to Trinidad. She won’t forgive him for kidnapping Isabel.
Enith asks Milagros what’s going on between Miguel and the Marquesa. Milagros reveals that she’s actually the adopted daughter of Lorenza and Tomas. Enith wants to know why no one told her before; do they not trust her? Milagros just says it’s a very long story and she’ll tell her later.

Trinidad tries to say goodbye to Miguel and leave. Miguel stops him; what he did on the beach proved that he’s part of the group and he needs him in this fight.

Victoria tells Remedios they need to go. Milagros is going back with them so no one will suspect they were part of the plan.

Manuela is still looking for Jesus. Isabel tells her that all of the wounded and dead have been brought back from the beach. Isabel sees Tomas being brought in chained up. She immediately asks what happened and where’s Miguel. He managed to escape. Tomas starts yelling for more doctors and a soldier orders him to shut up. Isabel gets in his face: que te calles tú (you shut up)! Fetch more vendas (bandages) and water and get help from everyone in Santa Marta because the doctor and I no damos abasto (can’t keep up/cope with everything).

Felipe looks for Miguel and finds Tomas, who explains what happened. Todo salió mal (Everything went badly). Granados ambushed them. If the General hadn’t arrived, they would all be dead. He last saw Victoria with Miguel heading for the hill with the others. Espero nunca más verlos (I hope to never see them again). It gives him peace knowing that they are free.

Manuela slowly goes into the room with the dead bodies. She’s relieved when she sees the first body is Granados. But the second body is Jesus. Isabel stays with her.

Outside, Felipe tells the General the massacre was organized by Granados. The General is visibly upset. He orders all of the slaves to be brought back to their owners. He doesn’t care if they are wounded or dead. Isabel tries to stop him. Tomas has a broken leg and can’t walk. The General is getting more and more angry. He’s lost two sons because of the slaves. No deje llenarse el corazón de odio (don’t let your heart be filled with hate), Isabel warns. Everything was Granado’s fault. No, the General corrects her, it was the slaves’ fault. They broke the law and didn’t accept their fate.

Felipe remarks to Ana that it’s very likely the killing won’t stop. She hugs him.

Stopping at the river, Miguel tells everyone they can’t give up. Even though they had to leave some people behind, others were able to reach the boat. Their job now is to help the others get freedom. Un alma que libremos de la cadenas es un pedacito del alma de todos (A soul that we liberate from the chains is a little piece of everyone’s soul). Lorenza thinks she knows a place to hide where the white men can’t reach.

La Esclava Blanca – Friday, July 8 – Capítulo 56, part 2/2

The General informs Nicolas that he was only able to capture 10 of his slaves. (Victoria is in a different dress; not quite sure how she got back and changed without Adela noticing.) He also tells them that Granados’ men killed Alonso. He asks Nicolas to make sure the slaves are punished. Nicolas already has something terrible planned for them.

Outside, Nicolas insults the slaves and Tomas doesn’t seem to give a flying [bleep] about anything anymore. He talks back to Nicolas; things are different in other places; why not here? Los negros no nacieron para ser esclavos (black people are not born to be slaves)! Victoria jumps in, trying to get Tomas to be quiet. She pretends to be worried about losing property and punishing the slaves means they would be useless. They need to get back to the way things were.

Nicolas won’t stop until he finds out how they escaped and who the leader was. He orders everyone back inside to be chained up. Tomas says it’s not necessary; he was the leader. He takes the blame for everything. Victoria tries to make Nicolas believe he couldn’t be the leader. He’s a simple blacksmith; he’s old. Nicolas orders Tomas be chained up separately.

The General offers his army to Nicolas to help guard El Eden. He also wants to whip Tomas first.

Isabel questions the Padre about only giving extremaunción (last rites) to the General’s men. Do the slaves not deserve God’s compassion? They are also his sons. The Padre claims there are priorities, but he will attend to the dying slaves too. The doctor interrupts; he needs Isabel’s help.

Tomas still isn’t talking, even when Victoria asks him to. Nicolas then threatens to hurt Milagros. Tomas finally admits there’s a tunnel. Nicolas starts feeling weak again and heads inside while the General continues the punishment.

In her room, Victoria tells Milagros what’s happening with Tomas. Milagros gets upset thinking that Nicolas threatened her. Victoria won’t let anything happen; she will reveal who she really is before anyone can hurt her or her baby. She doesn’t know what to do now though; the house is full of soldiers so they can’t get Tomas and Milagros out like she had planned.

The General and his men head to the pit and find the tunnel. He orders some soldiers to let the other landowners know they should inspect their property for more tunnels.

Drunk Adela babbling to a soldier. She almost starts crying talking about Hilaria and Nicolas lying to her. She goes into the office to get more alcohol and sees the open safe with no money or jewels in it. She almost throws up. She rushes into Nicolas’ room; they stole everything from us! He is genuinely scared. Qué vamos a hacer ahora (what are we going to do now)?

Victoria orders the soldiers out so she can talk to Tomas. He doesn’t understand why she came back. She wasn’t going to abandon him. Everyone is waiting for them in the jungle. Tomas doesn’t want her to stay. She has her life before her; he can’t bear to watch another child of his die. Nicolas walks in, angry about the robbery. He punches Tomas.

Sor Alicia thanks the indigenous couple for helping and continues with the real Marquesa to Santa Marta.

In the woods, Miguel tells Trinidad they might actually be lost even though Lorenza thinks she knows where they are. They hear something and all hide as soldiers approach. Miguel and Trinidad are able to ambush the two soldiers and grab their guns. Miguel wants them to tell everyone that there’s an army of slaves in the jungle who will cortarle la cabeza al que intente perseguirnos (cut off the head of anyone who tries to follow us).

Nicolas walks toward Tomas with a red hot branding iron. Victoria and Remedios are still watching. Tomas says you can brand me a thousand times but I will never be yours. I belong to no one. Nicolas responds that he can do other things besides brand him. Luckily you can’t see much in this scene, but I’m pretty sure that Nicolas puts the iron in Tomas’ eye.

Eva. Thank goodness we're finally rid of Rebeca! And I had kind of been thinking that the fishing boat captain would take Robert's money and dump him in the ocean; instead he took his money and called the police--way more responsible but not quite as satisfying. :) That confrontation with Cinthia whose beginning we see in the last scene should be quite something!

Eva. One more thing. Marlene is wearing the most fake looking blonde wig I think I have ever seen!

Eva

I managed to watch Friday's episode late last night. I'm delighted that SpanProf has got the ball rolling. I'll try to add some things I remember and fill in a few details:

1) With the participation of JJ, Marisol, and the Furias, Pablo puts into action a plan to protect Eva from Marlene.

2) Marlene and Rebecca sneak into Eva's house via a side entrance and shoot to death a pillow and some blankets. Oops. Pablo and JJ then appear, guns drawn. After a standoff, Marlene and Rebecca put down their guns, but then Rebecca grabs JJ from behind, takes his gun, and threatens to shoot him. Marisol appears in the doorway, apparently wounds Rebecca in the arm, and everyone is shooting but no one else is hit. In the chaos, Marlene gets out of the house and drives away. Rebecca jumps from a second-story balcony as the police arrive. She says she won't go back to prison and comes out firing at the police. A bullet hits her in the stomach and she collapses.

3) At the hospital, Rebecca is screaming in pain. The doctor is about to administer some kind of painkiller/sedative when Fajardo appears. He persuades the doctor to let him and Pardo have five minutes to question the gravely wounded Rebecca. The doctor reluctantly agrees. Rebecca is furious at Marlene, who had driven off from Eva's without her, and she gives Fajardo an account of Marlene's crimes.

4) Virginia visits Rebecca in the hospital to gloat and to forgive her. She leaves and Rebecca, in a rage, flatlines.

5) In the morning, the boat captain insists that Robert Monteverde pay in full ahead of time or he won't be allowed to board the boat. Reluctantly, Robert hands over his cash and watch. "OK, you can board now," says the captain. But just then the police arrive (probably alerted by the captain). They arrest Robert for his involvement in the death of Pancho Mogollon. Unlike SpanProf, I think I prefer this outcome. It's not that I'm a stickler for handling things more responsibly--¡para nada! It's just that I loved it when smug Robert finds that it's Cinthia who has betrayed him.

6) Andy points out to Marlene that all her plans to do in Eva have failed and have endangered them. He leaves. Marlene calls out "Wait!" and apparently comes along.

7) While Pablo is busy saving the world, Cecilia is feverish and vomits. Martin calls Dra. SweetFace, who offers to come by. I think she brings Cecilia to the hospital. After saving the world, or at least Eva, Pablo goes to the hospital. SF tells him all is well with Cecilia. He expresses his gratitude, embraces her, and gives her a gentle kiss. This, of course, is the cue for Reynaldo to pass by and see them. Later, SF calls Reynaldo and twice her call is cut off. She goes to see Reynaldo to ask what's happened. He tells her he saw her kissing Pablo. She accuses him of being jealous. All this is successfully resolved in the Usual Way.

Eva. Excellent recap, Juanita! Loved your "All this is successfully resolved in the usual way!"

Esclava

Many thanks, J, for all your wonderful recaps. I wasn't able to watch the episode last night, and now that I've read your recap, I think I'm glad that I didn't. There's only so much cruelty I'm able to watch, and this novela pushes past my limit. I may have to depend on the recaps for the final week.

BTW, I want to thank you too for all the Spanish you include. I find it very helpful. The present recap included an expression I don't recall ever seeing or hearing before: dar abasto. It seems like a very useful term to know.

Esclava

thanks so much for the recap J, what a sad show,

I think Lorenza and Miguel are trying to lead everyone back to the Palenque, the group seems to be getting bigger.

and it's like Lorenza said of Tomas and Miguel, they are always putting other people first.

I'm loving nurse Isabel, she's like her dad in not taking C**p from anyone, but she's on the other side of the spectrum.

and does anyone else get the idea that things are so much better when Nicolas isn't around.

I wasn't sure about the ending, I watched it online today, and still not sure, but it does seem like Nicolas went for his eye with that poker, and then the camera went to like a leather pouch on the floor, not a good place to leave the show for the weekend and possibly until Tuesday to find out what happened.

Esclava

You're welcome!

I really hate the violent scenes too. :(

I'm not sure what Telemundo is planning for Monday. There are definitely 6 episodes left so I hope they air all of them uncut. I noticed they still don't have a new avance up yet though for the next episode.

Eva

thankyou, thankyou, Juanita, you had a busy week!

I probably shouldn't say this but I was really enjoying Rebeca lately with all the weird expressions she was throwing in to Marlene's plans, I'll miss her.

I think somewhere last week Soraya threw out in her disparaging comments about men to Cinthia that Luis was sometimes like Robert, and I began to wonder if this wasn't why she wasn't letting him in on her plan.

and I'm warming up to Rey, one intense guy, slow to see his humor, but once he beds a girl, they're hooked, but hey, Marlene only loved Armando.

so Eva slept for a couple of days, what?

and why didn't Virginia have a furias wedding?

ESCLAVA:

J- Thank you so much. That was a tough episode to watch. Really the only thing I enjoyed was seeing Isabel come into her own, as she took charge of the wounded and did her best to take care of the hurt and dying slaves.

I'm highly disappointed in the General. I know I shouldn't be, but I never saw any of his earlier bastard behavior, and his recent treatment of Eugenia had softened me to him. But when he had Gabriel arrested, and then when he whipped Tomas, I started to hate him with a passion. I now wish for his swift death.

Eva

Thanks, muchly, SpanProf. I'm delighted you enjoyed "...in the usual way." It was one of my favorites, too. :-)

Eva

Thanks very much, deb. Yes, it's been a busy week, but at least I only had to keep one novela straight. I don't know how you manage to do two.

Yes, I too found/find it odd that Eva has slept for so long. I have an uneasy feeling about this. The good thing is that even if there's a problem, it has to be resolved in just a few days. :-)

After the traumatic interruption of their boda, I think Virginia and Enrique just want to be married ASAP. And since Eva is apparently still out of it, the most straightforward thing would be to just have the most minimalist wedding possible.

Eva. I sort of wondered if Edith Gonzalez herself wasn't sick for a few days or had some other professional engagement and they had to write around her.

Eva

Interesting idea, SpanProf. That might explain not just Eva's "long sleep" but also the minimalist wedding.

Gran Final Schedule

Telemundo just announced the days/times for the final episodes:

Eva la Trailera - Friday, July 15 8-9 pm
Esclava Blanca - Friday, July 15 9-11 pm
El Señor de los Cielos - Monday, July 18 8-11pm

Gran Final Schedule

Many thanks, J, for this info. I'm wondering about what you've said re Esclava. I just looked at Telemundo's Guía de Programación, and for Friday, July 15, it lists normal programming: Eva at 8 pm, Esclava at 9 pm, and Señor at 10 pm. Where did you see the times you listed? (I have already prepared our Monday page for the coming week's Telemundo y Más. When I read your message, I thought perhaps I should add that info to the page, but since there's still some uncertainty, I may wait until the Thursday page.)

Gran Final Schedule

I saw the times on the official Facebook pages and Twitter accounts that Telemundo has for each TN, and it looks like they've just added it to their novelas page on their website - though it looks like they didn't bother to update the Guía de Programación yet.

Gran Final Schedule

Muchísimas gracias, J, for your prompt and very helpful response. As of this morning, Telemundo's Guía de Programación still hadn't been updated, but I poked around on Facebook and found some signs that you're right. I've now updated Caray's Monday Telemundo y Más page that will appear at 3 pm this afternoon.
