Yago Caputulo 48: Burn My Shadow

Monsters don't sleep
Monsters don't fear
Monsters attract

At Casa Fidel  we receive a new flashback in which we see how Abel, Omar&Lucio befriended themselves in their young age. Yago says that Omar gave Abel a chance but will Yago have the same mercy now? He then basically turns psycho and starts violently asking Abel if he wants to know what happened to Abel. Does he want to know how he got "rid" of Omar? We are also shown the old flashbacks of the prison escape and Yago's surgery. A few minutes later Abel&Yago have a few drinks. Abel is curious on how Yago got Ambar into the picture. Yago says that it just happened. Abel also wonders if Yago induced his hallucinations a few episodes ago. Yago confirms it. Abel get's angry about Ambar getting used by Yago so he punches him in the face. Yago punches back and turns psycho again.  In a morning after Yago manipulates Abel into working with him by showing Abel some old photos and regrets. Abel tears up and hugs Yago. He obliges that they will work together and achieve justice for Omar&Ambar. After Fidel talks to Yago about Abel he gives Abel a mission as a proof of trust. Fidel puts a bomb on Abel. His task is to bring Lucio to their side or else the bomb will explode. Abel accepts the mission. Fidel essentially brainwashed him to become a martyr.

Camilo &Sara are having quite a darn good time but Sara also warns him that all of the men that touch her end up tragic endings. Camilo wants to take Sara to bed and she seems to be okay with it. Camilo says that Sara should not feel pressured. It will come when she likes it. A few drinks later Camilo opens up to Sara and tells her that he did many bad things for love but he is done with regrets now. Sara says that she did bad things too like betraying the love of her life but she SO regrets them! Sara admits that the person she betrayed was Omar and that Matias is his son. Camilo asks her what would Sara do if Omar was still alive. Camilo also admits that he was the one who orchestrated the fated robbery. Sara is fine with that as well. She later wakes up in the morning and sees a strange tablet. On it is the video of Lucio smashing Tomas to death. Sara get's paranoid and runs away.

Meanwhile Lucio was acting like a complete freak last night. He went into the room of Matias and called  Sara twice on his phone. Later he steals Matias's toy car (Given to by Uncle Camilo). He went to the kitchen and grabbed the hammer in an attempt to smash it but Damian interrupted him. Damian joked that while he may have  believed himself to be Worst Dad of the Year,he never broke their toys. That's just evil and distasteful. Lucio threatens to toss him out of his house and send him back to prison. Lucio proceeded to break the poor toy car (Will Matias get any car insurance?). The morning after Matias asks Damian about the car but he plays it off and lays the blame on Lucio. Lucio refuses to shoo Damian out of the house. He even ignores that Damian once tried to beat Matias with his fists. Matias says that Damian&Lucio are both equal.

Lucio also tried to enter Camilo's property without permission but Hernan chased him away and warned him that he will end up as Tomas if Lucio doesn't keep himself in line.

With Hernan's help Camilo gets the documents necessary to reopen Omar's case but Camilo suddenly tears them down. Until it is beneficial to them Camilo will keep quiet about Yago's dirty secret. Hernan also asks if he should deal with Lucio. Camilo denies as he is already providing counter measures against him.

While Sara goes to the office she encounters herself with Lucio. They ensue in a deadly stare-down until Camilo interrupts them. Lucio leaves so Camilo begins his game freely. Sara informs Camilo about the incriminating video. She never knew Lucio was capable of murder. She doesn't want him near Matias anymore. Camilo says that he will give Lucio to the police sharks.Sara doesnt want that to happen because that would be bad PR. Camilo says that it doesn't matter, all that matters is the safety of her and Matias(Is it just me or are Camilo&Sara made for each-other? I kind of ship them. They understand and support each-other better than any of  Sara's ex martyrs.). When Sara comes out Lucio comes in . Camilo says that he feels disappointed  about Lucio. He freed Damian without Camilo's authorization. Camilo needs Lucio relaxed and in his prime condition. Lucio should not mess with Camilo!

Jonas&Melina get a call from Bruno's school. Apparently Bruno left school for a while. Jonas get's furious but at lunch Bruno tells them here is nothing to worry about as he will find a job pronto to help with the bills (Will he get paid to pose as  target practice?)

Sara comes home to bring Matias out of his house. Matias says that his father has started to get nasty with him. His beloved father now terrifies him as much  as the new Ghostbusters trailer. Sara takes him to Uncle Camilo. Uncle Camilo gives Matias some train collection that belonged to his father (Seriously pens, toy cars and now toy trains? Did Michell Sr have a toy factory we weren't aware of?)

Yago goes back to Bar Ambar and surprise surprise he encounters the annoyingly cute Ximena once again. They chat a bit and she lands a beso on him!! They head out to some room and Katia also sees them. While Ximena&Yago are having delicious sex Katia is becoming suspicious of Ximena.( It would be refreshing if for once Yago's new relationship wasn't related with mobsters and revenge plots). Katia says that she herself fell into the bait when Raul manipulated her. Teo comforts her pointing out that Yago needs some relaxation. They share a kiss.

After Matias vanishes into thin air Damian leaves but not before taunting Lucio that Sara may have took him to his new guernito Camilo Michell. Damian gives Lucio his address card.
Before Abel leaves on his suicide mission he runs into Julia. Abel tells her that if he doesn't make it, Julia will know that he wasn't such a bad person after all. He calls Lucio but we don't hear anything. He later shows up at Abel's house telling Lucio that he has already joined with Yago. Lucio should do it as well. Lucio laughs at the proposal but Abel says that he has no choice. Abel opens up his secret weapon :The bomb armor of doom.

Thank you Count! I can't wait to see this.

"Is it just me or are Camilo & Sara made for each-other? I kind of ship them." Yeah, I'm beginning to feel the same way. Camilo is just what Sara deserves. I hope her memorial orchid is special. Do they make red orchids?

"His beloved father now terrifies him as much as the new Ghostbusters trailer." LOL, I feel the same way - that is, the new, crazy Lucio makes me laugh as much as the Ghostbusters trailer.

"Seriously pens, toy cars and now toy trains? Did Michell Sr have a toy factory we weren't aware of?" Heh, maybe Camilo's gang is called the Santa Claus Mafia.

So, Yago got busy with the artist, eh? But he apparently hasn't given her any information that would be useful to Camilo? Somehow I still don't see this as a long-term thing. On the other hand, he never had sex with Ambar, so... so I guess we'll just have to wait and see. ARGH!!

Say, are we in ultimas semanas yet? Hulu doesn't tell me these things.

Thank you Countx. I can seriously do without annoying Ximena. She gets on my every last nerve, lol. I'm guessing she's not a plant, she's just sexual, comic, fun time release for the show.

So Camilo must have a safe full of expensive gifts for every occasion handy in his house. You never know when you'll need a diamond studded necklace for the special lady.

Did Abel say that Lucio had to join team Yanpolski or just come to meet with team Yanpolski?

I'm surprised that Sara was naive enough to believe that the tablet left by the bed with the video wasn't meant for her to see. She seems more savvy than that. But I agree, she and Camilo are two peas in a pod. They both have similar backgrounds, and would do well together, forgiving each other their horrid sins they committed.

Thank you very much Countx!

Cathyx: Daddy Michell's father must've got some secret toy shop!

Sara needs to still DIE! #DIESARADIE

Julie: I still believe that Ximena is a spy working for Daddy Michell!

Katia's going to be proven right!

Thanks so much Countx

Looks like Fidel has other ideas of what Yago's revenge on his mates should be and pardoning Abel isn't one of them. I fear Abel will die next episode, unless bomb is a dud. Either way We will see what Yago's reaction is.

Sex with the artist seems out of place at the moment in the story bit I guess it will go somewhere.

Agree that Camillo and Sara are worthy couple.

While watching TVA there was a commercial for a new TN with Ambar in the lead.

Carvivile: so Ximena Romo (who portrayed the late Ambar Madrigal) will be in a new TN. What's the name of it ?

Steve, I'm wrong. I looked up the name and it's a TN from 2014. I don't know why they are advertising it for September. Doesn't look like a remake. Maybe someone else here has an answer since i don't know the show, El Color de la Pasion.

This comment has been removed by the author.

And another thing: has the best finale that I ever saw in a Televisa telenovela.

I removed the comments that went too far with El Color and that includes my own. The telenovela hasn't arrived to USA yet so any comments regarding the story , character roles or guest characters are not allowed until an discussion thread about the Telenovela appears. El Color is a show with many nominations and is directed by Roberto Gomez( Para Volver A Amar, El Hotel). Erick Elias, Esmeralda Pimentel, Ximena Romo, Moizes Arismendi and Claudia Ramirez star in this show.

Thanks Count

Funny Sara didn't think Lucio capable of murder. She and Lucio rode the gravy train of ill gotten gain that included an elaborate plan to frame Omar for the murder of an innocent guard.

OMG. That lizard Yago cheated on Sara

I want the bomb to go off and get rid of spazzy Able but no one else to be harmed

Unlike all these self absorbed thugs here, I barely remember childhood friends nor a life changing deed or conversation we may have had. Well, take that back, I played across the street with a friend and her easy bake oven but cannot remember her name nor what we pretended to bake.

Thanks Count. I am so behind on viewing these episodes but all the recaps have been so helpful in following along on the plot. I just want to find out how all these people are going to do each other in. Frankly, it seems that's where we are going with this story.

Yago seems to be losing control and his mind. He is so much a puppet in this game and maybe he is realizing that. He's not going to be able to save anyone or decide who lives and dies. With so many ruined lives in this whole sorry mess, not sure how he can live with the results either.

As for Matias, I keep getting a bad feeling that he will be the ultimate pawn in this. Hopefully he doesn't become another Ambar. Jonas and Melina should take he and Bruno and move away. Why Yago doesn't make that happen I can't phantom at this point.

I saw the ad for Color of Pasion last night watching Ana too. I'm always interested in anything with Erick Elias, so may have to check it out. If it's from 2014, wonder why it took so long to come up.

Daisynjay: I'm predicting Matias will turn into Lucio 2.0 with the scheming & manipulations!

I also see Sara, Lucio & Co., ending up DEAD!

No happy ending for anyone.

Lucio proceeded to break the poor toy car (Will Matias get any car insurance?).

Very funny Count! Glad you were able to inject some humor into a very sad scene. The one good quality Lucio had was his kindness and loving parenting of Matias. Now even that is gone.

Haven't seen all of this yet. Have to watch at positive times of day to counteract the very melancholic dreariness of this. Does not make good evening viewing. But still...don't want to miss a single episode.

Nor any of your recaps. Thank you.

Countx,

Thanks for this delightful recap. Nicely done.

"They head out to some room..."

It looked to me that Ximena managed to drag Yago to her place (she must live near Ámbar) where they frolicked. I was really surprised that Yago actually went along with this. Not only has he become mean and sadistic but also careless and shallow. I really don't like this guy.

I'm enjoying how Damián keeps taunting and needling poor Lucio who is pretty much at his wits' end.

I still don't quite understand why Sara is so disliked here. Though she's certainly no saint, I'm finding her character more and more likable and sympathetic.

What the heck is Abel thinking? If it wasn't apparent before, it's certainly clear now that Fidel is every bit as much a psychopath as Camilo.

Carlos, Yago isn't "likable" anymore if you think that insisting on continuing with his part of this whole mess borders on stupid now as he keeps seeing innocents die and his own family in peril.

To me, the roll in the hay with Ximena and his flying off the handle is evidence of self-destructing. Sub-consciously he may realize he's a dead man walking and his idea of vengeance was what Dumas noted in his novel:
“Fool that I am...that I did not tear out my heart the day I resolved to revenge myself".”

I don't buy Lucio's mistreatment of Matias. Lucio loves him above all things even more than Sara. When Lucio was in prison he even scolded Matias for getting into a fight. If Sara cannot appreciate the sacrifice then screw Sara. As Yago once said "Some princesses are worse than dragons". Now Matias is trapped in the hands of a cruel mafioso because of Lucios fault.

Screw Yago too. After all he did to his family, Ambar and Abel he doesnt deserve mercy. I only feel bad about Matias, Bruno, Jonas, Teo , Katia, Julia and Melina. They are the ones forced to deal with the aftermaths. Yago is hot and charming but he is not in any way a good person.

Countx,

"If Sara cannot appreciate the sacrifice then screw Sara."

I'm not sure what you're talking about here. What sacrifice are you talking about? I can't think of any sacrifice on Lucio's part other than his self respect.

"Screw Yago..."

No argument from me on that.

Carlos

Omar is the biggest victim of all because not only did he lose his name, family, Omar's life, his appearance but most importantly, he lost his true self. When Melina and Abel say he is not Omar, it is true. And he has lost the rationale for his actions, the sympathy for his plight. He has let his past define him and his future and can't see his reality.

I guess I'm the only one who doesn't hate Yago. And I also think I'm the only one who doesn't think Sara is pretty or sexy looking. When I saw her cast in this role, I was surprised, I thought they should have used someone better looking if I am supposed to believe she gets all these men's attention.

Carlos

Lucio's sacrifice was raising Matias. He did so despite Matias being the son of his frenemy.

That's no sacrifice. Lucio always wanted to steal Omar's life and he did. He stole his girl, his child, his parents and his brother, and got rich while doing it.

Countx,

I'm inclined to disagree. I think that I tend to agree more with Anon. I don't see his raising Matías as a sacrifice at all but rather as more of a blessing for Lucio and I don't think that Lucio ever thought of it as a sacrifice, he adores Matías.

Carlos

Carlos: What if the producers pull a fast one on us & Yago dies in the end (see Catalina on Telemundo's "Sin Senos" original).

I thought the same thing at first Cathyx that Sara wasn't attractive enough but I see it now. She has that quality of "mystery" that men can't resist. Also, she is tall with a great figure. But I think her air of mystery and aloofness draws the men in.

Steve,

As Countx so eloquently put it:

"Screw Yago..."

Hey, if he dies... he dies... Next!

Carlos

Now having seen the episode, I question that Sara actually had sex with Camilo. She woke up fully clothed on an undisturbed bed. (That's not to say that he won't expect her to put out next time, now that she's moved in.)

Carlos: "I still don't quite understand why Sara is so disliked here." Hmm, well, in an early episode, Sara told Yago that Matias, Omar, and Ambar were the only people she ever really cared about. Well, she betrayed every single one of them, including Matias who is now living in the home of a gangster. Every thing she does is entirely for herself, and any time she seems to express remorse, if you look at what she's really saying, it's only remorse for the negative impact to herself (that so-and-so is mad at her or doesn't like her or is no longer available to entertain her).

Countx, the only reason I do buy Lucio's mistreatment of Matias is the coke. The stuff is not doing him any good. Lucio is not himself. He's tense, anxious, and impatient because of Camilo and the coke, and he's taking it out on the most defenseless available target: Matias. He wasn't like that before. Camilo knew what he was doing when he gave Lucio the nose candy.

Cathyx, I don't hate Yago either. I am disappointed in him, mostly because I believe that he is still Omar, trapped in a crazy-angry but delicious-looking shell. Yago has gone along with Fidel's sadism passively (in the case of Lucio's beatdown in prison), but has otherwise vigorously defended all of his would-be "victims"' lives. He pushed for Mati's rescue when Fidel couldn't have cared less; he asked if Raul's murder was really necessary; he stood up for Abel who took a bullet for him; he argued with Fidel about killing Sara in cold blood. He is no angel, but he is not the devil either.

True, Yago has screwed up royally. Melina is right that he has put his vengeance above the family's welfare. He has been stupid and thoughtless, and has made some very poor and self-destructive decisions. But I understand what he is reacting to, and he hasn't yet crossed the line that would make me hate him. I still have faith that he will wake up and smell the coffee or whatever before it's too late for him to redeem himself.

Julie,

"I question that Sara actually had sex with Camilo."

Plus, Camilo told her as she was about to go along with it that he wanted her to submit because she wanted to, not because she lost a bet.

"Yago has gone along with Fidel's sadism passively..."

Yes, well don't forget that in this episode he probed Abel's bullet wound rather vigorously and certainly not reluctantly. That seemed rather sadistic and vicious to me.

As for Sara, I think that she can justify (to herself at least) each betrayal as beneficial to either Ámbar or Matías. She hasn't killed anyone...yet.

Carlos

Carlos: Sara's anvil better be good!

Carlos said: Yes, well don't forget that in this episode he probed Abel's bullet wound rather vigorously and certainly not reluctantly. That seemed rather sadistic and vicious to me.

Yes, well don't forget that Abel betrayed Omar, his betrayal and then later never speaking up against the plot to use him as a pawn to enrich himself, gave Omar years in jail, where he was beaten, mistreated, and his reputation ruined. That seems more sadistic and vicious than probing Abel's bullet wound vigorously.

cathyx,

Mistakes were made.

Carlos

Countx- So sorry to be late commenting, but it has been a busy few days. Thank you so much for this recap. I look forward to seeing the episode.

So many great comments! Julie- Ditto on your comments about Yago and Sara. I don't hate Yago and am sympathetic to him, even though he has taken a wrong path. I don't hate Sara either, but I can't like her, for all the reasons you state. I do admire Sara's grit and ability to brush herself and keep moving on when things don't go as planned.

By the way, if we are talking about sadistic, it was Sara who orchestrated Lucio's second and most brutal beat-down in prison to make him sign the divorce papers.

I know Abel is a favorite, and he certainly has many sympathetic qualities, but he murdered someone and let his best friend go to jail for it. Anything he gets, he deserves.

Thanks, Countx. Terrific recap.
.
The Abel-Yago/Omar confrontation was very moving. I totally get Yago punching his finger in Abel's wound. All that pent-up rage had to go somewhere. Nice to see Omar's face again. Why Abel thought he could do that hand to face comrade thing with Yago is beyond me -- maybe he was daydreaming.

Fidel's suiting up Abel in a body bomb is nuts, but I knew Abel would do it. In a way, I bet he wishes he blows himself up.

Kind of cute Ximena telling Yago to kiss her to turn off her lesbian associate to her, and then admitting later it was a lie to get Yago to kiss her. But still, she annoys me.

What ticks me off most about Sara is she thinks she's better than her co-conspirators. Lucio has been a good dad up till now and she never respected him for that. The way she watches Camilo demeaning her ex and even aids and abets it by confessing to him that Lucio's not really her kid's daddy bugs me. The video of her ex bashing in Tomas's head is horrible, but who is she kidding to be so mortified after committing burglary and accessory to murder and letting an innocent rot in prison?

Carvivlie, ITA on your take on Sara's appeal to the guys.

Niecie: Abel needs to be punished for destroying Omar's life & getting wealthy because of it.

Plus, Sara & Lucio need to DIE!

Selma needs to leave that psychopath of husband that she has and start a new life with Julia far away from these two monsters that are Fidel and Camilo who surely will end up killing each other. It seems that she is a strong and sweet woman that had the bad luck of ending up as somewhat the apple of the discord paying with it a high price.

Maybe the best word to describe Abel is coward. He has been a coward all his life. If he let his own dad pay for a murder that he didn't commit, why would he have save Omar from going to jail?

Oh I thought that Ambars death would destroy Sara and give her a chance to reflect in her life. I hope that Matias doesn't have to die and become one more of Camilo garden flowers for her to wake up.

Marla: We'll find out soon enough!

Oh no I hope that nothing bad happens to Matias. I was recently watching the episodes where he was kidnapped online and wow I loved how he so bravely confronted his kidnappers and even tried to escape. I also have enjoyed when he screams at daddy cockroach. Hope that Camilo doesn't harm him and treats this poor baby as good as he did with Julia.

Where did the smart Sara disappear? She should have realize that if Lucio killed Tomas and he works for Camilo, obviously this monster gave the order.

It's definitely the drugs that are making Lucio act so crazy towards Matias. In addition to the guilt associated with killing someone with his own hands. He's losing it.

Finally watched the episode. I don't think Sara and Camilo had sex. Looks like they ended up drinking, chatting, and sharing secrets all night.

Which will will satisfy Yago's desire for revenge???

1. Death
2. Permanent, physical disfiguration
3. Left penniless, bankrupt, homeless, etc.
4. Jailed for at least same sentence Omar reveived
5. ??

Victoria- I think he wants public shaming/exposure, bankruptcy, jail, and the public clearing of Omar's name/record.

I think he also wants Lucio, Sara and Abel to have emotional breakdowns, admit their guilt, and beg his forgiveness. Will he get that? Will it be enough? I don't know.

Victoria - I'm not sure if Yago even knows exactly what he wants. He was really excited when he showed Katia his old journal where, as Omar, he had written what he wanted from Sara (to hear her admit what she had done to him) - because finally he had accomplished that goal. It sounded as though his revenge was complete, at least with Sara.

But clearly it wasn't enough. Although he hadn't (apparently) written any other goals down, he wasn't ready to stop persecuting Sara. That makes it look as though Yago never had a firm plan to begin with. He had some concrete goals, but those were just part of a larger, vaguer agenda simply titled "revenge." Having Lucio lose everything and end up in jail for fraud wasn't enough either. (Which is just as well since his fraud conviction didn't stick!)

Without a something goal to tell Yago when he's done, I don't see how he'll ever stop until either he realizes the futility of what he's doing, or everyone is dead.

Great answers Viví and Julie.
I forgot public shaming and admittance of one's guilt.
And I agree Julie, he doesn't seem to know what he really wants. But please don't let it be Sarah or, now, decorator girl.

That's the thing about desire for revenge. Nothing really satisfies it. I don't think maiming or murdering was ever part of Yago's plan. But I do think he thought he would feel some satisfaction seeing them humiliated, broke and jailed, and he's been surprised that none of what he's done to them really makes him feel satisfied. Plus, as Julie mentioned, none of it really stuck. Lucio is out of jail, he and Sara are once again living high off the hog, and Sara has a new lover/protector in the form of Camilo.

It looks to me like the only way out of Camilo's organization is in a hearse, so Sara and Lucio are as good as dead now anyway. A cooler-headed version of Yago might decide to call it a day with those two, and concentrate on getting Abel to formally confess.

Alas, now Yago has to figure out how to get Mati out of Camilo's life safely, too. Good luck with that, Yago!

Overall, I give Yago a big FAIL for project management. He didn't prepare very well - he knew all about Lucio and Sara's potential business deal and the guy whose car Katia stole and burned, but he didn't know that Lucio and Sara had a kid? And, knowing the kid's age, it never crossed his mind that the kid might be his until he saw the birthmark? Sloppy, sloppy. Except for the first episode, it has seemed as though he was making it up as he went along. Isn't revenge supposed to be served cold? Yago never plans far enough ahead for anything to cool off!

I actually think he DID have things pretty well planned out, and for a while he was on a roll. He succeeded in bankrupting S&L, driving a wedge between Abel and S&L, breaking up S&L's marriage, sending Lucio to jail, deceiving/betraying Sara and humiliating her, and getting Abel to confess to Omar's family (and nearly to the cops).

Where things got off the rails was the discovery that Matias was his kid, his genuine feelings for Ambar, and Bruno deciding on his own to clear his brother's name, which led to the involvement and eventual deaths of Ale and Lorenzo. Had Yago revealed himself early to Bruno (and Jonas), they might have prevented what later happen to Ale and Lorenzo. All these innocents were not predicted by Yago. He also early on did not know that he was part of Fidel's revenge plan, and that their two stories of revenge were so intertwined. The Camilo factor has really screwed things up.

True, he never asked "what's in it for him" when Fidel showed so much interest in him. I don't think he was expecting to run into his own family so soon, either.

Wardrobe malfunction?

What happened to all Lucio's cute floret suit lapel pins?. They've just vanished from his daily wardrobe.

This is first novela I've seen where I really don't want to see the lead female protagonist(Sara) redeemed. Let her anvil fall. NOW!

Victoria- They probably all got confiscated with the old house. Remember, the clothes Lucio is wearing now were provided by Camilo.

Vivi: We all agree that Lucio & Sara are all but going to die when this show ends, but the question is when!

After seeing what happened to Tomas, don't be surprised if the Body Count cracks to 50!

If Sara dies, who does Yago end up with as far as female companion goes?
