Sueño de Amor (SdA) US #127 (MEX #131). Wednesday September 14, 2016. GRAN FINAL, PARTE 2: Esperanza Loses Her Stomach, Her Hair, Her “Galán” and Her Dignity While Ricardolt Gets to Rub His Happiness In Her Face!

At a glance
-- You first tuned in thinking you were going to watch a sappy romantic comedy called “Dream Of Love” but it turned into a Frankenturkey horror show that ought to have been titled: “Move Over, Toots, I Found Your Replacement!”
-- No telenovela female protagonist has been humiliated, disrespected and demeaned like Betty Monroe. She was branded ugly, fat and a bad actress. She was blamed for Osorio’s failure as a seasoned circus producer and a budding writer of “original” stories. She was bullied into losing weight and shaving her head on national TV. She was forced to endure the introduction of another protagonist actress halfway into the novela’s run. She was made to wear zombie makeup and an unflattering wardrobe for most of the show, while Marjorie de Sousa sashayed around in impeccable hair, makeup and clothes. To top it all off, her character demeans herself to the jerk Osorio calls a galán, only to be strung along for a while then get rejected by him! But wait, it doesn’t end here! Esperanza is made to attend Ricardolt’s wedding and share in his happiness and baby news with a smile on her face! But wait, that’s not all! Esperanza has to endure Ricardolt’s presence at the inauguration of her dream school, accompanied by his pregnant wife and his perfect little recomposed family!
-- Friends don’t let friends watch Osorio’s novelas. If someone you care about expresses an interest in checking out one of those hideous mounds of mutant manure that Osorio produces, please stage an intervention!
A closer look
Ricardolt recounts how Esperanza sacrificed her love for him and decided to set him free so he can be happy with Cristina Vélez Valderrama (CVV). Esperanza also warned him that he’d better be happy. And that’s what he plans on doing. “What a great woman! My respects!” exclaims CVV. Ricardolt concurs. They start exchanging spit as the kids ooh and aah in the corner. Ugh. Yuck. Barf.
At the park of sweet childhood memories, Esperanza explains to her kids how what happened with Ricardolt is affecting her. She is hurting a great deal but she is not going to let herself feel depressed or defeated. If cancer didn’t manage to kill her then love doesn’t stand a chance! She claims she doesn’t need a man by her side to be happy or feel complete. For many years, she has led a fulfilled existence thanks to her children’s presence. Except that her kids have already flown the coop. Moreover, she has spent several years of her life without a romantic partner and she managed just fine. Meaning that she’ll retake her vow of chastity and resume her 18-year-long dry spell that was briefly interrupted by a weekend of knee-bumping and limb-mingling with Tricky Ricky in Acapulco. Esperanza is grateful that God granted her a new life. Being cured from cancer means being reborn. She feels she has everything she needs because she has herself and she has her children, the great loves of her life, her Guerreros incansables/tireless warriors. The three Guerreros reminisce about the great times they had in this park and decide that they’ll spend all day playing, like the good old times.
Several days later, Esperanza is in her bedroom, dressed in a wedding gown. “My mistake was to pursue love!” she sighs to her full length mirror. “I need to let it find me. That’s what I’m going to do! Love arrives when one least expects it!” she continues. The little board of hopeful soundbites agrees. It displays the following resolution: “Today, a new dream begins (heart).” Pato arrives and asks her mom what she is doing. “You think I don’t look good?” wonders Esperanza. Pato assures her that she looks beautiful but that still doesn’t answer her question. Esperanza says she saw the wedding dress in its box and felt like trying it on. Except that this is not the wedding dress she wore the day she received the cancer diagnosis. Maybe Osorio’s minions lost that dress or the rental ran out or juaréver. In any case, Esperanza has decided to wear it as a symbol of the beginning of a new chapter and the end of the old one. I don’t know about you, but to me the buoyant mood does not go with the attire. Wearing your old wedding dress does not say: “I’m starting over!”, it says: “Help! I can’t let go!” What’s wrong with burning the wedding gown in a big blazing ex-fiancé bonfire that contains all the jerk’s memorabilia, then moving to a ranch and hooking up with Fernando Colunga? No, wait, that’s “Soy Tu Dueña”! Hmmm, José Miguel Montesinos! Now THAT was a galán worth his salt! I need to check out my STuD ogling cache. OK, stop drooling! Focus! Focus! Where was I? Yes, Esperanza is wearing her old wedding dress and deluding herself into thinking that it’s a healthy symbolic step for a new beginning in her life. “But this doesn’t mean that I’m going to forget Ricardolt! It just means that I’m sure I will be able to move forward on my own!” proclaims Esperanza. Pato, step aside! I need to whack this dumb broad upside the head with a giant mallet until she sees reason!
A few minutes later, CVV shows up at Casa Guerrero. Pato calls her directora but CVV insists she be addressed as Cristina. Days of unconfused Ricardolt-loving have loosened her uptight attitude along with her tight half-up do. Pato asks about the wedding preparations and hopes that second time’s a charm for Cristardo. CVV is here to see Esperanza. Pato says she’ll get her MaPa in a minute. CVV is curious to find out why Pato calls her mother that. This is an opportunity to recycle an old piece of dialogue from way back. Pato says she calls her mother MaPa because she is her Ma, her Pa, her map and her guide. Esperanza arrives. CVV thanks her for stepping aside and letting Cristardo savor their love fully, without interference. Esperanza insists that no thanks are needed. CVV asks her how she feels. Esperanza replies that this is the start of a new phase for her. “Thank God, there are many things in my life, Cristina! And I can’t waste (desperdiciar) a second! I’m not going to spend my life crying or yearning (añorar) or having regrets.” “I admire you, Esperanza! And that’s why I would like to rub my happiness in your face you to honor us with your presence at our wedding!” Wow! Twist the knife in the wound, why don’t you!? Esperanza is taken aback. She says she doesn’t know, as in: Don’t count on it! CVV insists. Esperanza insists she doesn’t know, as in: Back off, vitch! But in the end, she summons her kindest smile and congratulates CVV on her upcoming nuptials. CVV thanks her. They share a hug. After CVV leaves, Pato asks her mom if she is going to attend the Cristardo wedding. Esperanza doesn’t say anything but her sad eyes say everything.
It’s Saturday, the day of the gran boda/big wedding. We get a filler scene of Ricardolt training at the gym. Yeah, keep flexing and unflexing those bulbous muscles! We’re all very impressed! “I’m getting married! Today is the happiest day of my life!” he shouts, high-fiving complete strangers. Juaréver, dude!
It’s time for the wedding ceremony to begin. CVV looks lovely in her wedding dress and I lament the fact that a beautiful, smart, accomplished woman like her would settle for a schmucktastic schmuck like Ricardolt. Little Rodrigo walks down the aisle in front of the bride, holding a notice that says: “Here comes the bride” in fancy lettering. In case the guests mistake her for the groom’s uncle or something. The Cristardo love theme gets played live at church. Everyone in attendance is happy and they know it, so, naturally, they clap their hands. Except for Luca who looks bored out of his mind. Félix gives the bride away. That puzzled me for a minute until I remembered that, since Márgara is Cristardo’s adoptive mother, Bigotitos is their adoptive father. It makes sense. Ricardolt tells his bride she looks gorgeous. She replies that she has dreamt of this moment everyday. She doesn’t specify everyday since when. Every day since juaréver.
In a park somewhere, Regino, the worst henchman in history, is apprehended by Agent Rentería and some police officers. He is under arrest. Regino tries to do what he does best, i.e. run like a vitch, but he doesn’t manage to escape. He is hauled to jail, leaving behind his finished masterpiece: A painting of a gaunt Ernesto behind bars.
Back at the Cristardo wedding, the padre in charge of marrying people in Sueñolandia asks if someone would like to come up and do a reading. A fashionably late Esperanza makes her entrance and reads Corinthians 13 with a Stepford Wife smile on her face, as the statue of La Virgen de la Paz that makes the rounds in Sueñolandia looks on. If you watch closely, you’ll notice that the Virgencita is rolling her eyes along with the rest of us viewers. The camera shows, one by one, all the endgame couples of Sueñolandia, as Ave Maria plays.
At Canta Canta, Mexico’s Sing Sing, Ernesto writhes on the floor in unbearable pain.
Back at the Cristardo wedding, CVV tells Ricardolt that he brought alegría/joy back to her grey life. Ricardolt tells CVV she should not be the firewoman of education only, because she also healed his life and rescued him. Ugh. Yuck. Barf. The ceremony is over. Cristardo are fickle man and disposable wife. Little Rodrigo walks ahead of them with a notice that reads: “And they lived happily ever after.” In case the guests have doubts based on what happened to the groom’s ex-one-true-love. Guests throw rice, clap and congratulate the newlyweds. Esperanza hugs CVV and tells her she looks amazing. CVV thanks Esperanza for her attendance and for the reading. This isn’t normal at all. Someone here is faking BIG TIME. Anyhoo, CVV has a malaise and faints. Esperanza holds her and yells, panicked: “Ricardolt! Your wife!” Ricardolt picks CVV up and carries her to hospital. A dozen guests follow.
At the hospital, the Cristado friends and well-wishers are making a lot of noise in the waiting room. In a scene that echoes the first time Pedro met Anya, the young nurse berates everyone for being rowdy and orders them to pipe down. Ricardo learns what’s wrong with his wife. He tells her it’s serious. “It’s a progressive stomach inflammation that will last for nine months!” he announces. He forgot to add: “But don’t worry, dear! It won’t leave you stomachless, like poor jilted Esperanza!” Ricardolt goes back to the waiting room to spread the happy news: CVV is pregnant! Congratulations and celebrations. Congratulations and jubilations. Poor Esperanza smiles and claps but her eyes fill up with tears. Her warrior armor still holds, but the sheer force of this particular blow rocked her to her very core.
At the hospital, the Cristado friends and well-wishers are making a lot of noise in the waiting room. At Casa Alegría, the kids are happy to hear that they’ll have a little brother or sister soon.
The next morning, the split screen shows us Esperanza waking up alone, doing her spinning workout alone and getting ready for work, you guessed it, alone! A couple of blocks away, Cristardo and their kids are shown as the perfect recomposed family, reveling in each other’s love and company. Esperanza tells herself that this is another day and another opportunity to be happy. Her little board urges her to keep going ahead: ¡A seguir adelante!
At Instituto Palacios, CVV is making a speech to mark the end of the school year. She announces that the Palacios is ranked 1st and 2nd best school in the country. She thanks all the teachers for their hard work and dedication. She singles out a specific teacher worthy of praise and admiration: Esperanza Guerrero. Maestra Guerrero never neglected her work or abandoned her pupils, in spite of the ordeal she endured with her illness. Esperanza is named the head of the anti-drug awareness campaign as well as the new directora of junior highschool at the Palacios. Esperanza is touched by the praise and the nomination she receives. She hands the year’s prizes for academic excellence to Estrella Gallo Blanco and Adrián De la Colina Conde.
At Canta Canta, Ernesto is on his deathbed. He tearfully implores Pato to forgive him for abandoning her, for betraying her and for becoming the person he is. She yells at him that he is not her dad, he is Ernesto. He begs her to call him Papá but she refuses. She says she wishes she never knew him! He is an assassin! Pato walks away in tears. Viviana contemplates Ernesto’s frail body for a second and declares: “And to think I was prepared to donate a kidney to you, for your children’s sake!” Ernesto replies: “At least I did this small cautious act and refused to go ahead with the operation.” Viviana says she doesn’t know whether it was his illness that made him commit such stupid acts but, in the end, this is a moot point. She asks how he is and what the doctor said. Ernesto says his end is near and nobody is willing to donate a kidney to a murderer serving 50 years in jail. Viviana tells him she is sorry and she prays that God have mercy on him. Adrián approaches Ernesto’s bed. Ernesto says he is glad to see that Adrián overcame all the bad things he endured in his life and managed to blossom into a wonderful young man. Adrián informs his dad that he received a prize at school. Ernesto says he is very proud of him. Thank goodness, Ricardo saved Adrián’s life, he adds. “You are courageous, Adrián! More courageous than me!” Ernesto raises his hand and reaches for Adrián but the latter refuses to hold it, in spite of his dying father’s pleading look. Ernesto lowers his hand and breaks into sobs. “Forgive me!” he begs both his children. They cry and walk away silently. What is it with these brats that they can’t forgive a dying man? They don’t have to mean it. They can resent and diss him all they want after he passes away. Oh, I know what’s up! They belong to the Ricardolt Alegría school of good wholesome folks that make it their moral obligation to berate moribund people! Esperanza enters the room. She is alone with Ernesto, who is struggling to breathe. He can’t believe she came to see him. She says she wanted to say goodbye. “You are a great woman! In spite of the fact that I...” She interrupts him: “In spite of the fact that you dedicated your life to betraying me. You can’t imagine how much it hurts me to know that you’ve always made fun of my trust. However, I have not forgotten what you did for me. I have not forgotten your support during the most difficult times of my illness. It is a shame that a man so powerful has decided to end up like this.” “Esperanza, I beg you to forgive me!” “ I don’t hold any grudges against you and I don’t feel any hatred towards you either. But you did do us a lot of harm and now...” “Yes, now I’m paying for it!” “Still, I forgive you!” He draws his last breath after hearing these words.
In the evening, the secondary endgame couples are shown in bed. PatoLuca, Anarasmo and Anyedro remark that even though life put many hurdles in their way, they managed to overcome them all, thanks to the power of love. It is worth noting that after her father died, Pato now refers to him as Papá. Yet on his deathbed, when he begged her to call him Papá and forgive him, she refused to do either thing. What a vindictive little vitch! Who denies forgiveness to someone at death’s door?
It’s the inauguration of the MAPA School. Finally, something for Esperanza to rejoice and celebrate alongside her children, her friends and her pupils. Without omitting her great friend and partner in this adventure, the other put-upon heroine of this tale of misogyny and discrimination, Viviana Conde. Oh for the love of Lala! What’s Señorito Confundido and his merry brood doing here? Must friggin’ Ricardolt and his friggin’ pregnant supermodel wife and their picture-perfect recomposed family impinge on every sliver of happiness or achievement Esperanza gets from now on? Are they going to be a permanent fixture in Esperanza’s life, rubbing their family bliss in her face every chance they get? This sucks! And the worst part is, when everyone in attendance starts sharing their “dream of love”, he has the gall to say that... No firstly, he gets to say 3 dreams when everybody else only got one. And secondly, he has the gall to announce that his dreams were:
1) for his kids be happy some day,
2) to deliver justice Baxter-style in every case he had Baxter investigate and solve single-handedly, without receiving any recognition.
3) to find love and happiness once again. And he kisses CVV to emphasize just who gave him the love and happiness he was dreaming of. Ugh. Yuck. Barf.
OK, I’ve had it with this guy! How about you jump up your own ar$e and die, you insensitive piece of dookie!
The school gets inaugurated. A mural filled with Manga faces is unveiled as a surprise for Esperanza. Kristel comes back from Barcelona, Tabasco, Barcebasco or juaréver place it is that they exile TN characters to these days. A bunch of condescending slogans from Osorio are uttered here and there and all the characters smile, hug, cheer and jump for joy in a sloppy bid to wrap this giant heap of steaming monkey dung with a bow. NEVER AGAIN, OSORIO! NEVER AGAIN!

Well, amigowz! This has been real! Thank you bunches for all the support, all the laughs, all the love... I've been around a few patios, not that many. They were great and fun and big and lively but this one was special. It was tiny in number but humongous in funness. It had a little je ne sais quoi. My fellow comrades in mischief, Jarifa, Pablo and Adriana, your Wednesday, Thursday and Friday recappers, respectively, please take a bow! Sorry if I missed anybody in the shout-outs at the end. I mostly mentioned the last survivors of this patio. Which were just a handful. We need to make T-shirts that say "I survived Sueño de Horror" :D Still, everyone is appreciated, faithfuls, lurkers, drifters, everybody! Doing these recaps is a labor of love and just knowing that there are people out there who read them, enjoy them and chuckle along with us is an amazing thing. They were supposedly at the inauguration because Ricardolt was the one who got some sponsors, so there you have it, their names will be forever written in the foundation rock of the little school for kids whose mothers have to work and/or victims of the many Ricardolts that roam the streets in México City.

Congratulations, Nandicta and Sueno Team, for finally being able to put this turkey to bed. You all did an amazing job.
Your best recap ever, Nandicta! Thank you for the laughs. I especially enjoyed . . . too many examples of your well-crafted wordsmithery to start listing them. You were so right about Pato and the other two grown De la Colina offspring following in Ricardo's footsteps of not forgiving people on their deathbeds. That really was deplorable and so selfish as in Ricardo's case. Thinking about when Ricardo refused to forgive Esperanza on her deathbed again, that probably was the point in the story where it was clearly established from an action in present time that Ricardo really wasn't the "catch" that he was supposed to be in addition to the twenty year absence he never did fully account for. Ricardo the Schmuck seems to have always followed the path of least resistance. Then at the end, Ricardo had to have THREE dreams because he evidently thinks he is that important. Too funny! To be honest, they all got what they deserved.
Pablo, ". . . Ricardolts that roam the streets in México City." was a good one.
It was nice seeing Osorio junior really come into his own as an actor in this one. I hope to see him in other, not necessarily Osorio, productions in the future.

Nandicta, I am so grateful that you recapped the finale. You and I are on the same wavelength - our shock and dismay was palpable. Every word mirrored what was in my mind and my heart.
To say this was amazing was an understatement. My eyes devoured every single word - you brought every detail, every nuance to life in full living color. Your finest recap to date - outstanding.
Having watched TNs for many years, I cannot think of any galan that has exhibited such selfishness, self absorption and utter callousness as Ricardo. Yes, he had the right to choose whom he loved. Esperanza did deserve his anger for hiding the truth. But did she not deserve his love and support as well? She only received his indignation that she lied. Worse, she had to grovel for his forgiveness. He in effect abandoned her, leaving her to fight without the love and support she had always shown him. Even if his love for her had evaporated, he knew she sought to protect him but such a gift was never reciprocated. The fact that she could forgive his aloofness and his coldness spoke volumes for her character. The theme of forgiveness has run rampant in many recent TNs - most recently Camino. I think Esperanza in forgiving both Ricardo and Ernesto has showed us the caliber of woman that she is.
Your summation of "Friends don’t let friends watch Osorio’s novelas" had me smiling in spite of myself. "I need to check out my STuD ogling cache" was another favorite.

I was also surprised that Pato and Luca did not relent: "What is it with these brats that they can’t forgive a dying man? They don’t have to mean it. They can resent and diss him all they want after he passes away." Yes. Not granting a dying man, (your father no less) forgiveness is something they will regret the rest of their lives. Grieve after and be angry after, but release the burden of the one passing and let them go in peace. "... when he begged her to call him Papá and forgive him, she refused to do either thing. What a vindictive little vitch! Who denies forgiveness to someone at death’s door?" Are we sure these are not Ricardo's children?

"Ernesto writhes on the floor in unbearable pain". Such potential - what a waste. Seized by madness, evil and resentment, he was able to die after receiving forgiveness from one who gave it so graciously.
I am usually a very upbeat person (those of you who have "known" me for years can hopefully attest to that). But I must say that Betty Monroe the actress and Esperanza the character could not have been treated so shabbily and with less respect. I have watched this all the way through and true to my word, will not watch the finale. I am glad Esperanza will continue to fight and to be happy she has a second chance at life. But she did not deserve to be alone, forced to submit to the radiating sunshine and joy of Ricardo and Cris. As you pointed out Pablo, they are now irrevocably intertwined in her life. Will they be the perpetual cloud who stunts her growth and forbids her happiness?

To say this was amazing was an understatement. My eyes devoured every single word - you brought every detail, every nuance to life in full living color. Your finest recap to date - outstanding.
Having watched TNs for many years, I cannot think of any galan that has exhibited such selfishness, self absorption and utter callousness as Ricardo. Yes, he had the right to choose whom he loved. Esperanza did deserve his anger for hiding the truth. But did she not deserve his love and support as well? She only received his indignation that she lied. Worse, she had to grovel for his forgiveness. He in effect abandoned her, leaving her to fight without the love and support she had always shown him. Even if his love for her had evaporated, he knew she sought to protect him but such a gift was never reciprocated. The fact that she could forgive his aloofness and his coldness spoke volumes for her character. The theme of forgiveness has run rampant in many recent TNs - most recently Camino. I think Esperanza in forgiving both Ricardo and Ernesto has showed us the caliber of woman that she is.
Your summation of "Friends don’t let friends watch Osorio’s novelas" had me smiling in spite of myself. "I need to check out my STuD ogling cache" was another favorite.
"After CVV leaves, Pato asks her mom if she is going to attend the Cristardo wedding. Esperanza doesn’t say anything but her sad eyes say everything". Indeed!
I was also surprised that Pato and Luca did not relent: "What is it with these brats that they can’t forgive a dying man? They don’t have to mean it. They can resent and diss him all they want after he passes away." Yes. Not granting a dying man, (your father no less) forgiveness is something they will regret the rest of their lives. Grieve after and be angry after, but release the burden of the one passing and let them go in peace. "... when he begged her to call him Papá and forgive him, she refused to do either thing. What a vindictive little vitch! Who denies forgiveness to someone at death’s door?" Are we sure these are not Ricardo's children?
This passage was lovely and heartbreaking "Poor Esperanza smiles and claps but her eyes fill up with tears. Her warrior armor still holds, but the sheer force of this particular blow rocked her to her very core". I cannot imagine.
"Ernesto writhes on the floor in unbearable pain". Such potential - what a waste. Seized by madness, evil and resentment, he was able to die after receiving forgiveness from one who gave it so graciously.

Foremost I want to thank all the recappers, once committed, don't have the luxury I have of sleeping through tripe. Thanks to you Nandicta, I marvel at your intellect and wit.
Last Osorio outing I liked overall, Mi Corazon Es Tuyo, and why I pulled a chair up initially for this one but quickly saw the boy got the big head along with a big budget and carte blanc. That moment for me was when Luca, the mid to late 20 something spoiled step brother of a schoolgirl coaxed her to a roof, dons tights and jumps off the roof to impress her.
Oh boy, it didn't get better. I will never understand why an otherwise smart resourceful, beautiful woman lets a man bamboozle her no matter how pretty he believes he is. While I understand the TN world runs on indecisiveness for ratings it's a turn off for me when a bully boy steamrolls a girl, peels her off the pavement, for that she's grateful, even as he steamrolls her again.
But, the biggest turnoff for me is arrogant, puffed up posers, hired to be every girls dream and worth any humiliation. Cristián de la Fuente makes me want to puke but he is what Osorio doubled down on, believing since he hired the "star" everything should revolve around it. This mess was as much Cristián's making as it was Osorio's.

Thank you Nandicta. That must have not been the most fun recap to write. What a mess this novela was all the way through. No surprise it was kicked to the afternoon at some point. I'm kind of glad the finale happened on my work in the office day and that I forgot to set the DVR based on how it turned out. Many props to those of you who recapped it all along!

I guess I watched as one watches a train wreck, not understanding much of what was happening, much less why. For instance, I still don't know why, a few episodes back, the singer fellow took up so much air time prancing around on a horse in some stadium, or why I was supposed to be concerned that his proposal to whoever- that- was was rejected. Or, how the familiar Carmen Salinas, cast as Margarita, was supposed to be the credible object of amor to that guy with the moustache who is about what....twenty years younger? I read somewhere she helped Osorio write this bunk or counseled him about the storyline. I may never be able to forgive her.
And did she and the moustache- husband get a puppie, or was that a little piggy, to occupy the nursery in lieu of the baby he seemed to want her to bring into this world? All in all, quite the outrageous switch.
Ernesto's final moments were odd and its too bad his kids didn't forgive him, but at least he got to exit stage left sooner than the rest of us still witnessing poor Esperanza's incessant humiliation and the yucky Ricardo/CVV icki-ness. I don't know if I will ever care to see the Ricardo and CWW actors again in anything.
I agree with all that has been said about Betty Monroe's amazing endurance and ultimately, her seriously good acting chops. Maybe she can get a starring movie-role to compensate for this nightmare.
I've just figured out the new Univision novela has started at 8 pm here and will check for the synopsis but have already missed the beginning and am not holding out much hope. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for something humorous to turn up on the schedule at some point!
Am taping Sylvana Sin Lana on Telemundo and find it pleasant...but not much bite. The galan seems adorable? But the people who are supposed to be poor seem to live in a pretty nice neighborhood and have jobs so I don't quite get what's the problem or why anyone would reject them.
My language skills being wholly isufficient, I am so very, very grateful to the recappers who can make some sense of the senseless...and so often, make it much better than written! That's truly been the case on this one. I'm getting to a place in life where I get confused easily so really really appreciate all your help.
Will someone make a big deal on this site if there's really a good funny storyline coming up from a somewhat reliable producer? Something you're really looking forward to?
For now, I'm taking a rest.

Two positives I got out of it, Julian Gil looks great with his head shaved and without the mustache, and Betty Monroe looks great with her head shaved too. I actually think she looks better without her long locks.

LOVED him in Amor Bravio, a show in which his character had a far more empathetic and difficult choice between two women. By midway through this show, I couldn't even stand to look at him. Esperanza should have moved far, far away, and taken Viviana with her.

As a matter of fact, they have a Boston terrier "show" that they put on at kids' bday parties all over the capital and outskirts. They have talked about taking the dogs and running away with the circus.
Esperanza with Viviana are so busy opening MAPA schools that Esperanza has had to leave El Instituto Palacios and never sees Ricardo and Cristina. Being an educational entrepreneur has opened her eyes to a whole new world filled with lots of interesting men her age. She is happy and still cancer free!
Erasmo won the lottery and started his own construction company. Estrella, Salma, and Adrián are getting ready to go to university next year and all remain "just" friends. Kiko got a scholarship to a prestigious dance school and dreams of Broadway.
Anastasia had a baby girl to keep Luquita company. Pato had twin girls but with being able to afford a nanny she has not missed a beat in her education. She, Luca and the girls take family vacations in the RV where it all started. Pedro is studying at university but also is still employed in the family business with Luca at the helm. He still lives with Anya in a larger apt. and they are engaged. Anya finished her advanced degree in nursing /public health and works as a visiting nurse. Viviana is still with Mario since he saw the error of his ways and vowed to never mess up again.
Ricardo and Cristina had a baby boy. She is still at the Instituto Palacios keeping it in tip top shape. Ricardo took over Margarita's job at Vasconcelos. He still works as a super secret agent on weekends and holidays when he has a need for some adventure. Baxter is always along for the ride.

Plain fizzeled out. The actors were great, they Used what they had to work with. And what They had to wotk with had some of us love Them hate them root for them, and had some Of us goin "what the hell just happened?".
These were my "what the hell" moments:

Cancer curin Poison potions
Cancer curin japanese bugs
psycho Mama Tracy
Being invited to the wedding of the man that was the love of your life by the woman that he's going to marry. All is fair in love and war? Whatever.

When osorio went to Korea to do research and get "ideas" came back saying that he would be back to shot some scenes in that country. Too bad the only koreanish things I saw was Triana and one of the stooges dancing the ganham style. But well... that was one more disappointment for whoever had their hopes in that trip, jajaja!
And regarding the osorio spawn, today I had the "luck" of watching his rap dance on MCET on Unimás (ding dong the witch is gone) and since I have only seen him in papa's projects, I am sure nobody else will hire him to do anything else. Too bad his father career is in jeopardy after this!

I think everybody got pretty much what They asked for. Espranza got what she asked For but I think maybe the next time she'll be very careful What she ask for in the name if love.
When she was talkin to ricardo, and she told
Him it was time to wake up. It was like she was tellin him the dream of love they had 20
Years ago was over. It was for him. She said go be happy and thats what he did. Her broken Heart is as much her fault as it is his, or more.

I guess you all expressed my feelings exactly - I cannot believe this was Espe's sueno de amor ! What a nightmare, indeed.
This really ruined CdlF for me, but I'm looking forward to seeing Betty, Julian and Marjorie again. Thé first two were a major revelation and Marjorie did the best she could with a thankless role.
Now let us all forget this show ever existed and move on to better things. Wé deserve it.

I keep thinking about Espe all alone. I realize she has her family and friends. However, I don't watch TNs to have "life isn't fair" pounded into my head. I, we, already realize that. In fact, we watch TNs for that happily ever after. We want to see real love, fully realized, not a woman who has gone through hell and whose destiny is heartbreak.

I think this is the morale of the story here: Better alone than with a Ricardolt! I just wish Esperanza would cut out her adoptive mother from her life, along with her adoptive brother, her adoptive sister and the picture-perfect royal family "Alegrélez Sanderrama" that the latter two formed! Márgara is the link, Espe! Cut her out!

Just wish Viviana would ditch that loser she calls a husband and follow her friend Esperanza, opening MAPA schools to help lower-income kids and single mothers all over the country. As for Baxter, he deserves way better than play second-fiddle to that bottomless pit of incompetence called Ricardolt.

Not granting a dying man, (your father no less) forgiveness is something they will regret the rest of their lives. Grieve after and be angry after, but release the burden of the one passing and let them go in peace." It seems that we only get the extremes on the TN forgiveness scale. Either it's the suffering protagonist aiming to get canonized, who forgives their tormentors over and over as they continue to do her harm; or we get protagonists that withhold forgiveness for dying people drawing their last breaths!
I believe that our positions aligned perfectly on pretty much everything, throughout the run of this series. We both believed that when you love someone, the love doesn't dissipate in a NY minute. And that when you have a beef with someone you care about (a friend, a sibling, a lover), the differences disappear in the face of illness or danger and you run to their side to help in any way you can. My grandma used to say that life's hardships reveal people's mettle. It's during tough times that you discover who's truly your friend. That's when you find out who loves you and who's there for convenience, who's a keeper and who should be tossed aside. Ricardolt demonstrated that he's the kind that ought to be tossed aside. In a real life situation, a CVV ignoring all the red flags and marrying a Ricardolt would find out what he's made of soon enough I guess.

Tofie, thanks for swinging by the patio before we close shop. So good to see you back! We missed you! You were the first one to call it right off the bat: Tricky Ricky is looking for a new mom for his kid. Ric had my interest for the first couple of episodes in which we saw him, because he's played by Cristián de la Fuente and because I was hoping to see another Daniel/Andrés in this "galán". But no! Ric turned out to be a schmuck of colossal proportions and as you said "it's a turn off for me when a bully boy steamrolls a girl, peels her off the pavement, for that she's grateful, even as he steamrolls her again." However, I can't blame CDLF for Ricardolt. That's squarely on Osorio's shoulders. CDLF is no Laurence Olivier but he is charismatic and charming and he can bring his game up with the right producer, script and cast. I found him wooden and unlikable in this trainwreck but can you blame him? The character is awful, the storyline is dumb and incoherent, the dialogue is idiotic and recycled haphazardly from old Osorio novelas... At the end of the day, the guy is hired to do a job. He committed to a project that turned out to be a trainwreck and a setback in his career. Hopefully, that would teach him to choose his projects better in the future.

Some fared better than others, but the ones who truly shone were Betty Monroe and Julián Gil. They made a silk purse out of a sow's ear and that's a testament to their acting talent. As much as I like CDLF, he can't carry a novela on his own and most certainly not a mediocre one like SdA. He needs to be surrounded by a competent team in order for him to shine. That's what he got with Carlos Moreno Laguillo along with the excellent team of writers and the outstanding cast that producer assembled for "Amor Bravío" and "Quiero Amarte".

I see that you were as displeased as most of us but this part in particular made me chuckle: "how the familiar Carmen Salinas, cast as Margarita, was supposed to be the credible object of amor to that guy with the moustache who is about what....twenty years younger? I read somewhere she helped Osorio write this bunk or counseled him about the storyline. I may never be able to forgive her." 20 years? Try 40! Carmen Salinas is 82 and Rodrigo Vidal, the actor who plays Félix, is 43! I'm not against the fact that her character gets paired with a younger man but they could've picked someone in his sixties or early seventies. 40 years is too much of an age difference between romantic partners no matter who is older, the man or the woman. And the oddest part is that Margarita's much younger husband was a forty year-old man who sleeps in his bathrobe while hugging a teddy bear! In any case, I too heard that Carmen Salinas puts her grain of salt in these Osorio projects and I do not forgive her for that!

Carvivlie, thanks for taking the time to read and comment on this dreadful finale. "Couldn't Espe open her school far away from Ric and CVV? The whole thing is implausible" Implausibility, incoherence and sheer stoopidity were the overarching themes of this novela... And it made excellent patio fodder! The only difference was that Cris de la Fuente was 99.9% of the reason I tuned in. After fastforwarding through 3/4 of MCET, I swore I would never watch anything Osorio ever again! By the time Osorio made the cook in that show join a space cult and painted her in silver like the Tin Man, I had just about had it with the over-the-top silliness. Since then, I only watched the parts with Silvia Navarro and Jorge Salinas because everything else aggravated me: the "humor", the booings, zings, baams, whaams and sundry, the constant showcasing of the musical/rapping/dancing "talents" of the Osorio Kid, the cameos, the harebrained story devices used to stretch the show, etc, etc... If it weren't for the Navarro/Salinas leading couple and the story (copied off a Spanish comedy) that reminded people of "The Sound of Music", that Osorio vehicle would've been a flop as well. Drunk on success, Osorio went from MCET to SdA thinking, not only that he is the best novela producer that ever lived, but he also fancied himself a writer! "Porque El Amor Manda" (PEAM) and MCET were adaptations of shows that were successful elsewhere, so despite the abundant injection of Osorioness in the adaptations, there was still a skeleton of a story that made sense, a line to follow from beginning to end. SdA was just a jumbled mess where Osorio threw everything at us hoping for something to stick. He had a huge budget and carte blanche to do whatever he pleases. He thought to himself: "Self, why hire decent experienced writers when genius you and genius I can do it all on our own?" and THAT's how Sueño de Nonsense came to grace our screens!

You and I may not always see eye to eye on everything, Ricardolt being the main bone of contention, but it was the mildest and friendliest disagreement ever! Saving yourself up for 17 years for the love that abandoned you twenty years ago without so much as a "Dear Jane" letter, on the off-chance that he may one day return and sweep you off your feet, is the dumbest thing I have ever heard! For being this self-deluded and naive, Esperanza deserved this harsh wake-up call! In this respect, I am totally in agreement with you. This and all the lying and self-sacrificing for someone who isn't worth the time of day, are the main reasons why Esperanza was left alone and heartbroken at the end! You're welcome, dear! I've saved that shot for months, thinking Diana is gonna love this! It was around the time we started falling for Ernesto thinking he would be redeemed and Julián Gil officially joined my exclusive list of telenovios, my telenovela platonic loves. As for Julián Gil playing a protagonist role, I don't want to jinx it, but I just read that he is auditioning in the next Nicandro Díaz project (It's the producer that made "Soy tu Dueña", Mañana Es Para Siempre", "Amores Verdaderos" and "Destilando Amor").
