Blanca took great care in preparing the enchiladas especially made for Robert. All the family is gathered at the table as Robert asks Imelda how she is feeling. After she replies that she’s doing fine, Imelad asks him about his family…they must be so proud of him, but his response is interrupted by Ana’s arrival. When Imelda tries to continue the conversation, Ana quickly changes the subject by telling everyone that Julieta works at Cklass, but Julieta comments that she hasn’t mentioned it because hasn’t been able to get a word in. This triggers some criticism from some of the family members, but Eugenio redirects everyone and they start in on the supper.
ICKnacio sought out Marisol to demand that she not bother Begoña or it could lead to consequences. Marisol is very clear that she will not leave the house, especially since it’s under her name, until she finds a job. She reminds him that they are both responsible for Frida.
At the (first) supper, everything goes well until Julieta goes to the kitchen and offers to help Blanca and Ana. Blanca refuses and tells her to go sit down, but Julieta inquires as to whether the situation involving Blanca’s son had been resolved. Blanca takes offense and tells Julieta not to be so imprudent; she regards her question as out of line. Julieta thinks that when situations affect her and Robert, they deserve an explanation. Blanca insists that she stop asking and walks off to join the family. When Julieta comments to Ana that she doesn’t understand why there have been so many problems, Ana tells her to calm down …Blanca has problems…and Ana points to her head. Julieta decides to go back to her apartment using the excuse that there is a work-related emergency. Imelda asks that Robert stay so Julieta leaves him with the family. Ana tags along with Julieta and tells her she would like to know more about her. Ana suggests they go to the spa so Julieta can tell her all about her life. Julieta is surprised that Ana is part of that family, but Ana clarifies that they are her in-laws.
Blanca tells Robert that it seems his girlfriend doesn’t like them very much, but Robert defends Julieta who is prone to get calls from her work at all hours. After they talk about Robert not being married, they continue with dessert.
After supper, Linda and Dani discuss Robert. Dani is growing fond of Robert, but she has noticed that Blanca and Julieta seem to have short fuses. Dani gets a call from no other than Gabriel, but she turns off her phone.
Robert goes back to the apartment and asks Julieta what happened. She gives him the same excuse and assures him nothing happened between her and Blanca. Gabriel calls Julieta to set up a meeting to discuss something that interests him. When Julieta is suspicious about what he wants…because he is not normal, he agrees that he’s not normal…he is magnificent…and tells her they will discuss it at their meeting.
Later at night, Eugenio and Blanca are in bed as Blanca tells Eugenio that she threw everything that she had kept. As he lays quietly, she says it’s as always…she’s talking to herself like a crazy woman; she then thanks him for making him feel that way. Meanwhile, Robert lays awake in bed thinking about Imelda’s comment that his family must be proud of him.
The next morning, the trashmen grab the box Blanca brought out as one of the toys falls to the street. Robert finds the toy he had as a child which triggers a memory of him playing with the toy. The toy consumes his thoughts as he works out at the gym. When he gets back to the apartment, he asks Julieta is she believes in “signs.” He then shows Julieta the toy and tells her it is identical to one he had as a child. He wonders how a toy identical to his would be doing in that place. Julieta receives a call from her office and mentions to Robert that her boss is pressuring her about the contract. She complains that there are too many problems and is thinking about asking for some time off to get her life organized. When she diverts he conversation back to the toy, he tells her not to worry…he heard a good saying, “God likes happy endings.”
Imelda and Blanca are in the kitchen. Imelda wants to go to church because she needs the courage to accept that what happened with Julián is destiny’s way of telling them that they shouldn’t continue thinking about Juan Pablo. Imelda continues talking about how she feels about Juan Pablo, but Blanca asks Imelda not to mention her son again because she is going to do as Eugenio and consider her son dead. She points out the neither she or Imelda have many more years to live, so they should live them in peace.
As Robert is leaving for the hospital, he bumps into Eugenio who is taking Imelda to the church. Imelda insists that he let them give him a ride to the hospital so Robert agrees as Eugenio warns Robert that his mother doesn’t understand the word “no.” As they drive away, Ana arrives and watches them fearing that they are getting closer.
As Ana goes in, Linda and Daniela are leaving. After Daniela and Linda walk out, Linda comments that their aunt lives a miserable life. She spends her time bringing them her food and gifts, but Daniela thinks that at her home, Ana probably feels like another piece of furniture…and she comes to find some love.
Julieta sits waiting for Gabriel as the singing secretary comes with coffee and tells her she can enter Gabriel’s office. Julieta meets with Gabriel, but she is not in the mood for his little tricks. When he mentions he met a girl near her building who looks like a boy, Julieta wonders what he wants with her. She wonders if he likes the girl, but he says he is only interested in her because she owes him money. When Gabriel finally mentions Daniela’s name, Julieta tells him not to even think about it because he probably won’t be interested in her because of her family. She tells him Daniela won’t meet his expectations and he should look for someone else, but Gabriel insists she help him and even bribes her with giving her the contract. When Julieta refuses to listen to him and leaves, the singing secretary approaches her with the contract that Gabriel has already signed, so Julieta goes back in to talk to Gabriel. She tells him to forget everything she said, but he gets obstinate and tells her she already got what she wanted so she needs to leave him alone.
Ana tells Blanca that she suffers from insomnia, but Blanca thinks insomnia comes from problems. When Ana comments that she saw Robert leaving with Eugenio and Imelda, Blanca is surprised. When she thinks about it, Blanca remembers that Robert was going to tell her something about Julián, but she didn’t listen. After Ana asks if Robert knows about their missing son, Blanca replies tat she doesn’t think so.
As Robert gets off at the hospital, curious Imelda asks Robert what year he was born in. When he replies “1979,” she’s about to mention Juan Pablo’s birth year, but Eugenio tells her to please stop, so Robert leaves. Eugenio scolds Imelda for bringing up memories that only bring them grief.
Daniela is hard at work when she nicks her hand. After her workmate bandages it, he shares that something is going on with their boss…he hasn’t been answering his phone. The buddy fears they might close down the place and not pay them, but Daniela doesn’t think anything of it. Instead, she looks at her phone and wonders why Gabriel hasn’t called her.
Later, Ana and Julieta are at the spa. Julieta confides that things are very confusing in her life. Ana takes advantage of that and suggests that Julieta should take a break from everything and study or take a trip. Ana suggests they go to New York where she has friends who could help her find an apartment near Central Park and also has several contacts, especially at universities, who could help Julieta in the field of her interest. Julieta falls into Ana’s little scheme and likes the idea of going to the USA.
Robert is in his office trying to find a good place for his toy. Later, he mentions to his friend, Tavo, that he doesn’t understand what is happening to him…he is having so many memoires. Tavo warns Robert that the mind is complex and can play tricks on people making them believe that certain things are memories when they really aren’t, but when Robert insists that the memories are real, Tavo suggests he think about why he started getting those memories when he moved to that neighborhood.
Ana and Julieta are still at the spa as Julieta worries about what could happen with Robert…he is obsessed with finding his family. Ever since she has known him, he has never been as obsessed, he even registered at several associations for missing children. Ana thinks that getting away would be ideal, but Julieta needs to think of what is best for both of them and wonders if she has a right to take him from his dream. Ana, of course, is adamant that the experience will help them both. When Julieta brings up the mystery behind Blanca’s son, Ana replies that it’s a matter of a mental illness. Blanca’s son died several years ago and Blanca has had problems accepting the loss. Julieta then remembers to ask about Daniela, so Ana shares some information.
Later, Julieta calls Gabriel with the scoop on Daniela who reportedly has had many tragedies in her life and usually remains to herself, but Gabriel is more interested in whether she likes men. Julieta teases him about liking Daniela, but he denies it and quickly hangs up.
Belén and Amalia are with Blanca at her home. They are very worried about her. Blanca admits that what happened was terrible, but she is trying to not let it get to her. Amalia brings in some food and offers some to Blanca who refuses it; so Amalia thinks it’s a symptom of depression. Blanca breaks down and confides that her life doesn’t seem to have any meaning. After Belen wonders how they can help, Blanca wants them to invite her for a drink so she can relax. Belén and Amalia are more than willing to oblige.
Julieta goes to see Robert at the hospital. She has been thinking about things and has come to the conclusion that she needs to take some time…she wants to get her license. Everything is perfect with him, but she does not want to continue living in the Córsega’s building. She is very happy with him, but not with everything else that has been happening in her life. Julieta then mentions that a friend has offered her an opportunity to move to the United States…she wants them to start a new life far from Mexico. When Robert understands that she is having an emotional crisis and assures her they can resolve it together, Julieta grabs his hands and insists that she has not been happy since they moved to that place and he needs to understand that she needs to get away.
As Ana arrives at her home, she snaps at her assistant who only asked to help her with her bags. When inside the house, Dora, the maid, approaches and tells her that her husband has arrived and is in his study, but Ana goes straight to her bedroom and plops herself down on the bed (probably wondering if Julieta will convince Robert to leave).
When Imelda and Eugenio get back home, Eugenio asks Imelda what she wants to do since Ana hasn’t been by. Imelda is sure she has already been there because she thinks Tulio has assigned Ana as a her sitter. Imelda feels sorry for Ana, but thinks she has made her life what it is. As Eugenio brings up what happened with Robert, Imelda gets agitated and chides him for trying to tell the whole family what to do. She warns him that she won’t allow him to boss her around. When he tries to calm her, Imelda does the exact opposite and tells him she can be in a bad mood if she wants. She can even cry, yell, and kick if she wants…Imelda begs him to stop trying to control everything. As Eugenio tries to leave for the bakery, Imelda tells him she knows he forbade Blanca from looking for her son, but she will search for her grandson till the day she dies.
Blanca is having lunch with Belén and Amalia. When Blanca confides that she thought this time would be different, Belén thinks that they are all so focused on finding Juan Pablo that they accept anyone that could possibly be him. Amalia, however, blames it on being obsessive, menopausal women. As they leave the restaurant, Belén wonders how Blanca’s heart could have been wrong so many times. When Blanca assures them that her heart tells her that her son is alive, Amalia questions why she is now going to consider him dead. Blanca explains that she needs to let her mind lead her now…and set her heart aside. After they get to the bar and have some drinks, Blanca tearfully confides that when she threw everything away, she also threw away part of her hopes, but now, more than ever, she has the memory of that day driven deep in her mind. She can’t understand how everything got so confused and no one knew that her son stayed behind. She remembers her water breaking and how two men carried her to a car as she yelled out for her son…and she could hear Juan Pablo crying and yelling out for her.
Marisol should get a good lawyer against the scummy Ignacio for cheating, spousal abuse and child neglect.
Crazy schedules!
So sorry to see how apt Ana was in changing topic from Robert's family to Julieta's job at the dinner, befriending Juliets, offering her assistance for move to New York and feeding her lies. Ugggh!
On the other hand :
So Julieta hasn't been "happy" since they moved. How long has that been one week? Two weeks? A month at most? Seems like her solution is a little extreme besides being premature but again this is telenovelalandia. . .
Little by little we are seeing more of Blanca's nightmare at the market. I cannot wait to see where Ana or how Ana pops up.
Ana is the one who is mentally ill. I wonder if she took Robert to that orphanage because she was jealous of Blanca having another baby when Ana had so many miscarriages. That is my guess.
I am not surprised by Eugenio's wish for Blanca to stop her search for their son and consider him dead. Men often want to close the door and move forward after they lose a child , whereas women often never let a lost child go from their thoughts and heart. They want to take the child with them as they move through life,to say the child's name and talk about him or her. Fathers and others often find this very hard to do, but it gives some mother's comfort .
To me, Eugenio looks more like Imelda's husband than son. They look about the same age to me.
And the stuffed bunny....there goes my heart.
Gosh I am wondering now when the time comes that it's revealed that Robert is Eugenio and Blanca's son, how Julie will take it. Will she be angry because she dislikes them so much? Will she say, "It's either me or them!" and then leave him for a time?
So no show tonight. :( Stuck with soccer.
Loved when Gabi asked Juli if Dani liked men. I had been thinking the same thing during first few episodes but knew she liked Gabi a couple epis back. She was enjoying the attention even if she can't admit it.
I think stress is making Juli not see straight and fall under Ana's spell i mean work hasn't been going well, she can't relax at home because of the neighbors, Rob is stressing over finding his family, July is stressing over her mom and the lost money.... Too much stress!!
Blinder than a thousand arrows might
Only the frail would know
For life moves as fast as light
Tquir, thanks for the info on the ages...I agree with Count, DB does not look that old. And Count, is that a quote or and original poem...very nice!
Cynthia, what I enjoy most about this TN is the mixture of comedy and drama. The blending is exceptional, IMO. Gabriel and Dani compliment each other very well as do Robert and Julieta. Although Blanca and Eugenio have their differences, it is obvious that love and caring still exist for the pair.
Julieta is desperate, but still considers Robert's feelings. I do hope she doesn't allow Ana to sabotage their relationship.
What I like most is that there's some maturity in this TN. In a typical Osorio show you would expect Blanca&Co as constantly crying, down on their feet but thanks to the director they actually have a life. They seem like real people. Rob would have been having toy flashbacks for 20 episodes resulting in him becoming a drunktard and throwing himself off the bridge just to escape the damn rabbit's wrath. It's obvious that the director planned the script and didnt write it on the spot.
Speaking of drunks I would never espect to see a drunk DB. I pity the soul who would piss off a drunk DB!
Ah, Robert found his little rabbit! Honestly, I don't see how Julieta can decide to leave for NYC now that Robert is in a place where he's starting to remember stuff. And if they're strapped for money in Mexico, how does she think they can afford a place near Central Park? By Ana using her influence with her bigwig friends?
Hurts to see Julieta so insecure and used by Ana. But it's TN law that the protagonista does something colossally dumb.
I too was amused when Gabriel asked Julieta if Daniela is gay. Even if Julieta said "yes," I can see Gabriel still mounting a campaign to attract Daniela. Of course Daniela is just as into him as he is into her. Her wardrobe has lighten up a bit and no denying that wistful look when he calls or doesn't call her on the phone. Who knew these two would bring the romance.
ITA Blanca and Eugenio grieve each in their own way. It's been 30 years, so I can see Eugenio's way. His scenes with Daniela, telling her it's not her fault and recognizing she's different, are touching.
Alejo, thanks for the DIana Bracho info about the genre.
Countx, great poem and so appropriate. Thanks for sharing your talent with us.
Cynthia, Susanlynn, yes, the sweet stuffed bunny.
I just wanted to stop by and thank you for all your prayers and good vibrations the last few days.
While I have no official word, I do not believe there is any more surgery needed in my immediate future.
Right now, I'm still resting. I hope to catch up with the recaps and comments in the next day or so. Again, thank you for everything.
I've missed you all...
Diana
Rgv Chick, thank you for explaining in vivid, fascinating detail everything I missed. So the "first supper" and the finding of a beloved childhood toy. Just several pivotal events.
"Julieta is surprised that Ana is part of that family". Actually, she is part of Satan's family. I can't ever recall having such loathing for someone who hasn't murdered. That said, she did in essence kill Blanca's soul and spirit.
"When Julieta is suspicious about what he wants…because he is not normal, he agrees that he’s not normal…he is magnificent". Ahh Gabriel. I demur and say it’s not Gabriel himself but his ego that is magnificent. And infinite!
"Blanca asks Imelda not to mention her son again because she is going to do as Eugenio and consider her son dead" - heartbreaking. "Blanca explains that she needs to let her mind lead her now…and set her heart aside" - even more so. How can we live in the presemt when our hearts are in the past?
"Julieta falls into Ana’s little scheme and likes the idea of going to the USA". Cunningly cruel Ana. Yes, I agree that Julieta, who is usually so perceptive failed to see this slippery snake in the grass for who she is.
“God likes happy endings.” Yes. I hope that Robert is reunited with his family sooner rather than later. I'm smiling thinking that Julieta will have a few more uncomfortable dinners won't she?
Jarifa, looking forward to your recap of tonight's show.
Rgv Chick, thank you for your effort in crafting this amazing summary.
Prayers and thoughts to Texas...
Diana
