Mi Marido Tiene Familia #70, 11/30/2017: “The Birds and the Bees…Really?” OR “Showdown at Tulio’s”

Previously: At the bakery, Juls tells Robert that she wants both families to know he is her magnet. Both Catita and Hugo Sr. urge her on. As everyone watches, Juls nervously gets on her knees and Robert follows. Juls asks, “Do you want to marry me? I have made up my mind to spend the rest of my life with you…because I love you; and you are that marvelous person that my heart attracted…like a magnet. Robert stands pulling Juls up with him and says, “Opa, my Opa, I want to say that I cannot find the words to appreciate the favor. Of course, I will!” After everyone cheers, he continues, “I don’t doubt it for one moment. I accept to marry you and spend the rest of my life with you because I love you…I love you, I love you…” As they kiss, everyone cheers and claps…with Linda having a sour look and joining in hesitantly. Juls places the ring on his finger and they kiss again with everyone huddling around them and chanting, “Magnet, magnet…”

Later that evening—

Aris leaves the bakery as Diana follows and asks when his parents will be going to the school. Aris thinks it’s enough with the scolding he already received from the school personnel, but Diana insists that it is for his own good; his parents and she need to discuss his future.

At Polita’s, Audi asks Polita why Ana wasn’t invited. Polita hadn’t even noticed since Ana is always so bitter. Audi shares that Ana and Tulio have problems with the family…and it’s not only because of the money; he thinks there is something else. When he mentions that Ana had never missed a family event, Polita agrees and will try to find out the scoop.

Diana meets with Juls and Robert to tell them that Aris needs much support and is under a lot of pressure, especially from his father who is so strange. Juls agrees about Audi, but knows that Aris is a good boy. When she asks if they are really going to expel him, Diana explains that the Director Genesis is going to give him another chance…only if the parents agree to certain conditions. Juls hopes they do; and Robert will make sure they do. He was also thinking that Bruno could help Aris study since Juls has mentioned that Bruno is very intelligent…that way Bruno can also have something to do. Diana thinks it’s a good idea and Juls will make sure it happens. After Diana leaves, Robert is happy that they are engaged once again; and Juls wants the wedding to be as soon as possible. Robert agrees so that nothing will cause them to cancel it again. After Juls comments that it’ll happen as long as another little lost sister doesn’t appear; Robert comes back with as long as there isn’t some guy she takes to the beach. On a serious note, Juls would like the wedding to be simple with just the important people so they won’t spend too much money. When Robert agrees, Juls proposes they marry the following week; and Robert agrees again.

At Enzo’s studio, Amalia finishes her song and Enzo claps. When he mentions that will be all for today, but then asks if she has thought about her look, Amalia wants to look divine and starts describing her ideas, but Enzo thinks it might be too dramatic. Amalia then shares that she sang well at the bakery; everyone applauded. She also wants to change her name. When she suggests “Diva,’ Enzo starts laughing. Amalia thinks he looks so much better when he smiles and starts chasing him around the room.

At the Córsega kitchen, Imelda thinks they need to convince Juls and Robert that it must be a beautiful wedding, but Blanca thinks it should be the type of wedding they want. Mari agrees that they shouldn't meddle so much…this time. As Imelda notes that Blanca used to side with her and wonders why she has changed, they hear Frida crying.

In her bed, Frida is asleep, but crying that her father doesn’t love them; he is a liar. Mari runs in and wakes her telling her it was only a nightmare, but Frida knows it wasn’t a dream; he left them and deceived them. Blanca listens at the door and worries.

Dani and Gabriel go down to the basement where she will set up her business. Dani tells him she can’t bring in too many machines, not only because of the space, but because she has very little money; though she can start with simple jobs. When Gabriel tells her she can’t leave him alone at the restaurant, she assures him she won’t; she will work on the carpentry at night when she is more creative. He reminds her that she needs to get her seven hours of sleep or she will start to get wrinkles and bad moods…but is only kidding. When he then wonders if she could use a partner to invest in her business and possibly pay for the machines, she questions if he really wants to be her partner, but he wants to be everything in her life. When she agrees and reciprocates that she wants to be everything in his life, they kiss slowly and passionately.

Meanwhile, Eugenio is outside and spots Gabriel’s car. He realizes they are in the basement, so he goes down and sees them kissing. He walks behind Gabriel and surprises them as he yells and chides him for kissing Dani and questions his intentions with his daughter. As Gabriel gets behind Dani, Dani pleads with Eugenio to forgive her; and Gabriel explains it’s not what it seems, but Eugenio won’t hear it. He sternly reminds Dani that he allowed her to use the basement for her business, not for these little trysts. Gabriel offers his excuses and assures Eugenio they weren’t doing anything wrong, but Eugenio insists it wasn’t anything good either. Gabriel starts to explain about people falling in love, but Dani interrupts and tells him not to say anything more. Eugenio criticizes that they are going too fast; and it’s time that he go home. Gabriel agrees to leave and asks for one minute alone with Dani, but Eugenio only gives him 10 seconds. Gabriel rushes around and finally gives Dani a good-bye kiss telling her he loves her.
Once outside, Gabriel wishes Eugenio a good evening. When Eugenio mispronounces his last name, Gabriel corrects him, but Eugenio doesn’t care…Gabriel just needs to leave.

In their apartment, Robert wonders why Juls hasn’t gone to their bedroom, so she explains she was talking to Tita, her imaginary friend…the one she told him about that she had since childhood. As Robert looks around, Juls tells him to laugh. When Robert wonders what they discuss, Juls replies that they are having a very serious conversation. Tita gave her advice; and Juls told her that a certain doctor agreed to marry her. When Robert wonders what Tita thought, Juls responds that Tita just wanted to know if he was handsome, so Juls told her he was a little ugly. Robert then calls out to Tita and tells her that today she gave Juls the best advice in the world. After he thanks Tita, he also thanks Juls for this day and for what she did. He confides that he was on the verge of doing the same thing. Juls thanks him for wanting to spend the rest of his life with her. Before he kisses Juls, he tells Tita she shouldn’t be seeing this; so she needs to go to bed. They kiss and hug as they slowly move toward their bedroom until he lifts her; and she wraps her legs around him. As he carries her into their bedroom, Robert closes the door.

In the hallway, Blanca meets up with Audi who is glad their party was such a success. After Audi tells her he didn’t go because he had to work with Tulio, Blanca wonders how that is going. He tells her it’s going well; it offers good pay and he does it for Polita and his children. He does, however, think it strange that Tulio wants to help him. Blanca agrees that it is strange…Tulio charges them for their debt, yet he gives Audi money. Audi then wonders why Blanca didn’t invite Ana, but Blanca clarifies that she did invite Ana, but she didn’t feel well. Audi then thinks it even more strange because Ana told him Blanca hadn’t invited her…and in so many words that she wasn’t wanted here. Blanca is shocked to hear that and wonders if there is something else going on.

In the basement, Eugenio understands that Dani is excited about her first relationship, but she needs to take it slowly. When Dani reminds him of her age, he admits she is not a child, but she has no experience in matters of love. Dani assures him that Gabriel is good and kind…he even introduced her to his family. Eugenio thinks that is the least she deserves…and if Gabriel doesn’t respect her, Eugenio will cut his hair. She needs to understand that she will always be his little girl and wants to take care of her. Dani understands that he does it for her own good, but she is an adult and knows what she is doing…and it is her right to make her own mistakes. Eugenio just doesn’t want her to get hurt. He continues that Gabriel seems to be a good person, but she needs to get to know him better. He sits her down and tells her the time has come to have the “sex talk!”

Outside, Linda asks Bruno how much longer they will keep their relationship a secret, but Bruno thinks they shouldn’t say anything just yet…more so because of her discord with Juls and he doesn’t have a good job that will satisfy Juls. Linda wonders if he has another girlfriend, but Bruno just laughs.

In the basement, Eugenio continues with the “talk.” He starts to talk about the differences between girls and boys, but Dani doesn’t want to talk about it. He threatens to have Robert or Blanca talk to her, but Dani won’t have that either…she knows how to take care of herself. Eugenio then points out how he caught them kissing and wonders what would have happened if he hadn’t arrived…that’s how unwanted pregnancies happen! Dani is still uncomfortable, but assures Eugenio that she is no adolescent; she will take care of herself. Eugenio just wants her to be happy and to look at the big picture; she also needs to keep in mind that Gabriel is of a different social class.

Up on the roof, Mari shows Xavi some new shirts. She wants him to have a more modern look…an image that will convey the romance in his lyrics. When he guesses that she got that from the internet, Mari admits she has been reading many articles. Xavi then wonders if what she has planned will work. Mari assures him that he will sing a few songs, but giving autographs will demonstrate how many people they can count on. When Mari tells him that her aunts will be there as fans, Xavi thinks she is making fun of him, but she gets upset and is tired of him believing that nobody wants him and that he is not important. She wonders if he realizes that he is important to her. When he tells her to calm down, she refuses and demands that he believe in himself or she will quit as his manager.

In the Córsega kitchen, Eugenio complains to Blanca about Gabriel and Dani being alone in the basement, but Blanca argues that Gabriel is her boyfriend and Dani can make her own decisions. Amalia walks in as Eugenio insists that Dani needs to be careful, so Amalia comments that what is well taken care of gathers flies…she took care of herself and look at her now; besides Gabriel is handsome and a gentleman. When Amalia leaves, Blanca brings up her conversation with Audi; she is very worried. Ana lied to Audi, so Blanca wants to go talk to Ana since she doesn’t want her keeping away, but Eugenio tells her to give Ana space…she must have her reasons. When Blanca tells Eugenio that Ana mentioned divorcing Tulio, Eugenio uses that to convince her that is probably the reason for Ana’s behavior.

Xavi chases Mari down the stairs. He doesn’t want her angry at him, but what angers her is that he does not have confidence in himself. When Xavi wonders if there is something else, Mari confides that she is worried about Frida who is troubled about her father. Mari thinks she needs help, but doesn’t know what to do; so Xavi mentions he met Robert’s friend, Daphne, who is a psychologist. Mari will ask Robert for Daphne’s information, but Xavi still wants to talk to Frida to let her know she is not alone. As they get closer, Xavi and Mari tell each other how important they are to each other, but Mari turns away to go to Frida; and Xavi thanks her for believing in him.

In their bed and in matching pj’s, Juls and Robert tell each other they love each other and kiss.

Meanwhile, Belén is in bed with Aurelio as he apologizes (for not performing)…he doesn’t know what happened and doesn’t want that to affect what they are rebuilding. Belén reassures him and tells him they will rebuild their relationship little by little.

At the Córsega’s, Amalia feels such anger thinking about the good time Belén is having; and she is there as a freeloader. Blanca pleads with her to give Belén a chance to rebuild her life, but Amalia hopes Belén will soon find out that this thing with Aurelio is not going to last—once a cheat, always a cheat. When Blanca wonders why Amalia hates Aurelio so much, Amalia replies that evil man stole her sister; Belén was the only companion she had. Blanca reassures her that she and her family are also her companions as Amalia cries.

In their bed, Juls suddenly sits up; she forgot to call Dave to see how his drawing was coming along. Robert again warns her not to get him accustomed to her, but Juls argues she isn’t. She gave Dave her word and she needs to keep her promise. Robert tells her to keep it in mind for both their own good.

The next day—

At the bakery, Blanca sells some “Pan Imán” as Eugenio is outside with Audi. Eugenio is upset that Audi’s and Ana’s attitudes have not been good for them. As Blanca listens from the door, Eugenio demands that Audi not talk about what goes on with Ana and Tulio; he doesn’t want Blanca to worry. Audi doesn’t understand why Eugenio is so upset, so Eugenio continues that Blanca sees Ana as nothing but sweetness. When Audi questions if Ana has done something, Eugenio avoids the question and reiterates not to comment about Ana and Tulio. Audi is frustrated that now everyone is giving him orders.

At his apartment, Xavi gives himself a pep talk as he wears one of his new shirts.

At Juls’s apartment, Imelda and Blanca go visit to discuss the wedding plans. Imelda starts with her grand ideas, but Blanca wonders how they will pay for everything. Juls tells them she doesn’t want them having more debts; and there will be no changes. Robert and she have decided that the wedding will be simple…and they will marry next week. Imelda and Blanca are dismayed, but Juls explains that they need to save money; so the wedding will be a small one. Imelda wonders how they will be able to help her prepare, but Juls tells them it’s not necessary. Robert and she need to decide on the details; then she will let them know how they can help. Imelda notes how Juls emphasized “my” wedding and Blanca wants reassurance that they will have a church wedding, but Juls tells them she is not sure, though she will call a priest. Blanca offers to call the priest and suggests that, if Juls wants, she and Imelda can be matrons of honor. Juls just smiles.

Later, Juls asks Robert if he wants a church wedding…since his mother and grandma are already insisting. Robert mentions they have always wanted something simple, but they could include a blessing. Juls had the same idea; now she needs to convince them that Robert and she will organize everything. Robert volunteers to talk to them…it’s his turn this time.

At the Córsega kitchen, Blanca and Imelda make their own plans for the wedding as Robert walks in accompanied by Linda. He tells them that the wedding will be a simple one. Blanca explains that they were only brainstorming, but Robert tells them, that before it turns into a full-blown storm, Juls and he want to spend as little money as possible. When he tells them that they should let Juls and him make the preparations for the wedding, Linda points out that Robert is telling them to butt out. Robert then explains to Blanca and Imelda that they are very important. It’s not that they don’t want them to help; they just don’t want to create problems or more spending. Juls has a right to plan her wedding as she wants. When Robert asks about the notebook, Imelda tells him it’s just to write down the food they need.

At the restaurant, Dani reproaches Gabriel for not calling her when he got back to his home. Gabriel agrees that if that is going to become one of their customs, he is very willing to admit his guilt and give himself some lashes. Dani smiles and tells him she was very embarrassed by her father’s behavior, but Gabriel understands that Eugenio just wants to take care of her; though he does feel that her father hates him. Dani assures him that her father doesn’t hate him; he is just jealous. When Gabriel asks about Mari’s event, Dani thanks him and confides that she isn’t sure what Mari really wants from Xavi, but for now she just motivates him. Gabriel assures Dani that the couple Mussi Córsega will support Mari. Meanwhile, Mari is setting up one of the rooms for the event. When Danilo tells her people have already started arriving, she runs to Xavi and excitedly tells him about all the people that are waiting for the event. Xavi hugs her and they look at each other intensely.

At Belén’s store, Amalia invites Belén to the event, but she doesn’t feel well; her soul is hurting. Belén thinks it’s difficult to accept that when love tears, it’s not easy to repair. Aurelio and she are like two strangers that thought they still had feelings for each other, but the feelings are gone. Amalia hugs her.

Imelda arrives at Ana’s house. She ignores Ana’s concern for her health and asks for Tulio as he approaches. Imelda chides him for thinking she was going to die and wants to know what he made her sign at the hospital. He explains that the document states that if their debt is not paid, he will take the building, the bakery, and the other properties. Ana tries to intervene, but Tulio sneers that if Imelda came to yell at him at his own house, she should assume the consequences. Imelda demands that he stop taking revenge on the family when the problem he has is only with her. When Tulio warns her that she will get sick again, Imelda continues that no one is to blame for what happens, much less Eugenio and Juan Pablo. When she retorts that Ana and he were the ones that destroyed the family’s lives, Tulio reminds her of her words and accuses her of never caring that she hurt her sons. Behind Ana, Audi hides behind a wall as Imelda shouts that Tulio is the one that never assumed responsibility for his mistakes; what she said is one thing, but what they made of their lives is totally different. Ana tries to calm Imelda down, but Imelda responds that Ana could have adopted a child and given a home to a defenseless child, but instead she abandoned a child as a means of lashing back at life. As Imelda sits down, she tells Tulio that he is only doing this to belittle them; he hates them. When Imelda tells him he just doesn’t want them to take action against his wife, Tulio retorts that he is glad she understands and that she will never hurt his relationship with Ana again. Imelda suggests that the best thing would be for Ana to confess; it would be best for everyone, especially Blanca who was the one they blamed. Tulio reminds her that is was she who marked Blanca as the one to blame for Juan Pablo’s disappearance and made Eugenio hate his own wife. When Imelda admits her mistake, Tulio shouts that she will not get any sympathy from him; she turned his life into a nightmare. Imelda stands and doesn’t want to continue, but Tulio is incessant and tells her that the damage she caused changed everyone’s lives; she was intent in controlling everyone’s lives.

Imelda made Eugenio hate Blanca; she converted Audi into a kept man who doesn’t believe in himself, Dani lost her identity; Marisol couldn’t even tell them about her divorce; Linda is a gold-digger; and Aris doesn’t even know what he wants to do. When Imelda replies that she is not responsible for their lives, Tulio points out that it was she who they were afraid of, and it was she they wanted to impress. After Imelda tells him she just wanted what was best for them, but at least she didn’t commit a crime as they did, Tulio admits his wrongdoing, then reminds her that all the suffering started with her…and nothing can change the truth—her family would be better off without her.

Blanca goes to visit Juls and pleads to allow her to help with the wedding. Juls agrees as long as she doesn’t change anything she has planned; so Blanca promises she won’t. Juls doesn’t want to argue or fight, but reminds Blanca about the many times she hasn’t kept her promises. Blanca swears this time will be different, but when Juls tells her they will not marry at the church, Blanca is shocked and says, “...No! Definitely, not!” Juls rolls her eyes.

At the restaurant, Xavi’s fans are outside chanting for him as the Hermonsters (Clarissa and Cassandra) arrive and are dismayed at the chaos. They rush in and encounter Daniela who is collecting the tickets. When they ask what she has to do with this calamity and these lice-infested groupies, Dani doesn’t know what to say.

At Juls’s apartment, Blanca reminds Juls that marriage is one of the most important events in a person’s life. Juls agrees and explains that they will have a priest’s blessing at a garden Gabriel acquired for them. Blanca is dismayed at the thought of the garden and again gives her (negative) opinion; so Juls explains that Robert and she want this to be as soon as possible, but Blanca reminds her that if they don’t marry by the church, the marriage will not be valid. Juls then assures her they will go see a priest later. Blanca mentions that she wanted all of Oaxaca to know about the marriage, so Juls assures her that Oaxaca will know about it, but not all Oaxaca will attend. Blanca had her own ideas about Robert’s wedding, but never imagined it this way. She notes that although they have become very close, they are very different. Juls agrees…they will always be (different).

Loved the recap and the screen shots! Outstanding! Thanks, RgvChick.

One thing I like about this novela is how complicated and nuanced the characters are just like people in real life.

Despite the fact that Tulio is a horrible human being wanting to exact revenge on the family, much he said about Imelda is true as a powerful, feared, coercive and unyielding figure in her family’s life. Now that she ill and repentant she is singing a different tune and has become a much more sympathetic figure than at the beginning.

The highlight for me was at the end where Blanca starts in about how the wedding has be without having missed a beat from the previous wedding planning session episodes and experiences ago. Deep down she has not changed at all. Julieta and she agreeing that they really had not changed at all was incredibly insightful into human behavior.

More later . . .

Thank you, Jarifa!

Tulio is a horrible human being wanting to exact revenge on the family, much he said about Imelda is true as a powerful, feared, coercive and unyielding figure in her family’s life. So very true, but I still cringed when he told Imelda that the family would be better without her. The family sure could have done without him and Ana too.

they really had not changed at all was incredibly insightful into human behavior Again, you hithte mark, Jarifa. It just goes to show how hard these two individuals have worked at getting along and accepting each other--all for a person they dearly love.

Ana (from Caray), yesterday you asked about Dani's age. Since Robert was missing for 34 years and Dani was born the day he was taken, that makes her 34 years old.

Typos so early! that should be "you hit the mark...

Rgv Chick, I shook my head as I read this. It is truly unbelievable that as of a year ago, you had never recapped. Yet you have completely assimilated into the recapper role and masterfully too! The recap and the screen shots were amazing.

"Gabriel offers his excuses and assures Eugenio they weren’t doing anything wrong, but Eugenio insists it wasn’t anything good either" and "Amalia thinks he looks so much better when he smiles and starts chasing him around the room" had me smiling away. Your words perfectly echoed all of last night's sweet and sour activities.

"When she agrees and reciprocates that she wants to be everything in his life, they kiss slowly and passionately". Is there anything better than a fresh love in bloom?

"Robert agrees so that nothing will cause them to cancel it again". Oh no Robert. Never, ever utter those words!

"After Juls comments that it’ll happen as long as another little lost sister doesn’t appear; Robert comes back with as long as there isn’t some guy she takes to the beach". You absolutely nailed it yesterday when you referred to the beach stroll as one of the reasons Robert wasn't very welcoming to Gabi at the family dinner.

“Xavi mentions he met Robert’s friend, Daphne, who is a psychologist”. No, Xavi, no! Ack.

"Tulio reminds her that is was she who marked Blanca as the one to blame for Juan Pablo’s disappearance and made Eugenio hate his own wife". Such hate and venom. Does anyone else think that Tulio is using Ana as a sword to pierce Imelda's heart? I think Tulio hated his mother before and Ana was only a match to the flame.

Jarifa I really like what you said about his take on Imelda "as a powerful, feared, coercive and unyielding figure in her family’s life". She is culpable for much, but Ana and Tulio are solely responsible for committing a heinous act that hurt an entire family. The repercussions continue...

"Blanca reminds her that if they don’t marry by the church, the marriage will not be valid. Juls then assures her they will go see a priest late". I have to take Blanca's side here. In the TN world, I believe there are few break ups when formally married in the church. If it's just a civil ceremony, things seem to fall apart quickler.

I like that SuperDave continues to be on Julieta's mind.

So much to discuss. Whatever was Audi thinking hearing everything he did??

Rgv Chick, thank you for this treasure!

Diana

RgvChick and Diana, ITA about Tulio and Ana and am not giving them a pass in any way (I still think that they should be in jail) but I also think that Imelda has gotten off way too easily all of these years and now in the face of Tulio and Ana’s unforgivable crime. With reference to Tulio’s cruel remarks to Imelda, maybe Tulio is the fruit that didn’t fall far from the tree . . .

Btw, it looks like the thrill might be gone for Belén and Aurelio.

Diana, Xavi’s suggestion of Dafne was a definite “Ack”.

Jarifa, yes! Forgot to mention Belén and Aurelio.

Do you remember the scene where Aurelio was eating the ice cream? I found myself looking at the cone and seeing vanilla. Not that there is anything wrong with Vanilla but it's not exciting, not adventurous.

I think the fact I was looking at the ice cream rather than him said it all. Not impressed. Also, it may be harsh but I agree that once you cheat, there's a good chance it may be repeated.

Diana

Diana, ITA on cheaters and the ice-cream . . . : )

Jarifa: Bruno just needs to be a big boy & confirm that he & Linda are a couple.

Thank you, Diana! I truly enjoy writing the recaps, but reading the comments is even better. I am in awe of the many interesting views and interpretations.

Diana, "Is there anything better than a fresh love in bloom?" No, there isn't; and this couple makes it look even. JP and Laura are really amazing in interpreting their roles...if I didn't know any better I'd say they were truly in love (outside the TN). Their looks and gestures are so genuine...pure perfection!

Jarifa, "I also think that Imelda has gotten off way too easily all of these years ." ITA, but in a way she was allowed to have that control. No one stood up to her or fought for what they truly believed in. It seems that there is not one family member who has the confidence and determination to take control of their own lives. Now that the Corsega ladies have Julieta, who has become more of a role model and confidante (and fairy godmother), they seem to be coming out of their shells.

Steve, you're right; Needing to be a big boy applies to Hugo too. Interesting how Julieta became such a strong, independent woman.

Ughhh! My fingers are much slower than my brain... that should be

"...this couple makes it look even BETTER..."

Excellent Rgv!!!

OMG when Eugenio sat Dani down to give her the birds and bees talk I broke out laughing!

I hope Xavi's concert isn't ruined again with the arrival of the sisters grim. I don't think his ego could take another problem.

What Tulio said about Imelda was true but at some point one must take over responsibility for their life. Eugenio and Blanca seem happy, even with the loss of JP, they built a life for themselves. Audi has had problems with jobs but he was able to give and accept love from Polita. Tulio walled himself off from everyone and allowed himself to grow bitter. He abandoned Ana and rejected any feelings from anyone. He is responsible for not trying to find happiness. He had the money to escape his family with his wife and build a life but he didn't. That's on him. He needs to take responsibility for his unhappiness.

Also, if he thinks Imelda is the sole party responsible then why is he taking it out on Eugenio and Blanca?

Audi now knowing the truth means that Blanca will know at some point too. I can't see Polita and Audi being able to keep the secret. Too many people know the truth now.

RgvChick, thanks for yet another great recap of another great episode! Love this TN!

So, it turns out that Tulio is a little more nuanced than the 100% despicable character I had taken him for. Still a poor excuse for a human being unless... gee, I don't know what it would take to redeem him.

Poor Audifaz! I feel for him sometimes, though I do wonder what he's doing for Tulio other than hiding, though perfectly visible to us of course, hiding behind a wall listening to Tulio and Ana spill the beans.

Should I ever wind up in telenovelalandia and have something private to say to someone, I will first set up the Cone of Silence and then whisper in her ear anyway. And figure someone, somehow, heard it anyway.

Thank you, Carvivlie and Andy!

Carvivlie, i actually broke out laughing at the birds n bees talk...that was hilarious! And I too am hoping that the Hermonsters don't do anything to stop or ruin Xavi's event.

Andy, I feel for Audifaz too. I'm hopeoing that this will light a fire under him, so he can get out of Tulio's grasp before Tulio destroys him too.

Aurelio's failure to please was so appropriate...I wonder if that's why he isn't with the other woman...

Rgv Chick, yes, absolutely! Audifaz should escape Tulio's grasp before Tulio brings him over to the Dark Side.

But he should keep the suits. They would come in handy when interviewing for a real job.

"the sisters grim" - good one Carvivlie!

Andy, you are very kind. Respectfully, I will say my opinion of Tulio has not changed. Carvivlie carefully enumerated the many things he could have done to leave. And I agree that Eugenio and Blanca (and Robert of course) bore the brunt of his evil. He has no compassion or the slightest remorse for what he did.

Love the "cone of silence" idea. :)

Diana

Thank you for another great recap, Rgv Chick! Yep. Oh dear! Will Clarissa and Cassandra mess up Xavi's autograph session? Or, maybe more to the point: How will Clarissa and Cassandra mess up Xavi's autograph session? "sisters grim": Good one, Carvivlie! Is Mexico one of the countries where couples have to have a civil ceremony even if they have a church one as well? It seems to me that if the banns were posted for Robert's and Julieta's first attempt, or waived for this one, the priest could marry them at the church immediately after the civil garden ceremony with just a couple of witnesses present. There is no need for a mass or an elaborate ceremony.

You're welcome, Spanprof :-)

In Mexico, if a couple is not married through a civil ceremony, the marriage is not valid regardless of whether there is a church ceremony or not. This question came up on another TN and we did some research. I was confused with what Blanca said or maybe she was just trying to convince Julieta to have a church wedding.

Thank you for the recap, Rgv Chick! “Hermonsters” is brilliant!

Jarifa – you are so right about everything in your first post. Everything.

RgvChick – I wondered the same thing about Aurelio’s ‘dysfunction’ too.

Carvivlie – “What Tulio said about Imelda was true but at some point one must take over responsibility for their life.” YES! They’ve both done harm but Tulio & Ana’s is far worse, IMO.

Andy – Yes, the “cone of silence” needs to go on sale at Meta Mart, where the Patio’ s best most useful items for surviving telenovelandia are available. (including telenovela beanie hats)

SpanProf – Mexico has two ceremonies: the civil and the religious. One satisfies the legal system, the other satisfies The Church. Blanca wants the religious so that “in the eyes of The Church” they won’t be living in sin.

Tulio is probably beyond redemption. Ana suffers remorse, so there is hope for her. Tulio? Nope. Nada.

P.S.

I forgot to mention that right after the opening engagement scene, not-so-Linda looked like she had just eaten a lemon. LOL

Thank you, Doris :-)

I did more research and, no, a religious ceremony is not required, but to be "legally" married, they must have a civil ceremony. The way Blanca said it, it seemed that the marriage would not be valid at all.

BTW, intriguing is that fact that in Oaxaca, a girl can marry at age 14 and a boy can marry at 16...with parental consent. How sad...they're just kids!

RgvChick - that's because in Blanca's mind, it wouldn't be valid . I was raised in the Catholic Church and remember, as a kid, my mom telling me that a civil ceremony (justice of the peace, city hall, etc) is not enough "in the eyes of the church" and many devout Catholics believe that.

Nowadays, anyone can go online and get ordained for 24 hrs and perform a marriage ceremony, and its legal. (Georgia and Tennessee accept it, I can't speak for the other 48 states.) Nonetheless, I'm still trying to wrap my brain around that. And yes, I've been there, saw that.

I know that my parents, though both Americans living in American-occupied Germany, had to have a civil ceremony (with the Nazi emblem on the seal of the marriage certificate very roughly cut out) in addition to their formal church wedding with a US army chaplain.

Thanks, Rgv Chick. Fab job.

Julieta and Robert got real busy last night, even blocking out Viewerville. I'm guessing Juls will have a bun in the oven, despite what the docs said.
