HALIMACANDY: You're watching this now ?

"LADO":

1.) RIP German: he was loyal to Bizzaro Gaviota 2.0 til the very end. DAMN shame that he got tortured & whacked by the Latina Doug Stamper.

2.) BPN 2.0 realizes Bizzaro Gaviota 2.0 was making out with Joel. Didn't these 2 know that there were cameras ?

3.) Likeky the gasoline dude got whacked by the hired gun of the Latina version of Doug Stamper.

4.) Deborah Sanders 2.0 kicks Eliza & the kids out of the house. Plus she also insults Eliza's kids.

Expect Deborah Sanders 2.0 to up the ante even further by having them deported.

5.) The house fixer dude helps Eliza & her kids move in with him & his wife, who's NOT happy about that.

6.) The doctor tells Max & Deborah Sanders 2.0 about theur son's condition.

7.) The smuggler gets whacked while talking to Joel & Bizzaro Gaviota 2.0 near the Mexico/US Border.

Lado

really, no one has a number for Max, so Eliza is down to searching the hospitals, and what's this, Steve ?? is alive but in a coma.

so Max finally goes to the house, reads Eliza's note about leaving a message for him on the bus station bulletin board, so does Max go there to retreive it, no, he talks to the neighbor that tells of another lady and goes to confront Jennifer.

I also wasn't too big on Sofia sleeping with Joel so soon, it's been less than a week since she was happily married and only a couple of days since she even considered trusting him, and the video of their kissing at the gas station plays right into Paula's game, I had hopes Ernesto would be a good guy amongst thieves.

German cracks under the threat on his niece ?? and calls Alondra long enough to get their location, and gets a bullet to the head for his help, Vicentito flies some guys to the area.

ok, in the first show we saw Sofia drive slowly up the ramp and get stuck, exactly what the smuggler said not to do, he also said to hit the ramp going 30mph, slower you get stuck, faster and you flip.

Charlie has Myelofibrosis,

"Myelofibrosis is a serious bone marrow disorder that disrupts your body's normal production of blood cells. The result is extensive scarring in your bone marrow, leading to severe anemia, weakness, fatigue and often an enlarged spleen."

-Mayo Clinic

the doctor said this is rare in kids, they usually don't live to see their teens.

Enemigo

the hitman goes to plan B, knocks out a medic, converts his ID to suit, and takes his patient to the hospital in his ambulance, passing all checkpoints, and bursts into Alex's room killing him, wait, the commander got Alex 2 rooms, and this one only had a dummy, so now he is the hunted, Alex gets the drop on him wanting to know who hired him, they struggle, the gun goes off, Alex is dead, nope, the hitman is.

Zoraida puts Roxana to work, she is taken to the laundry where a fire is started, made to wait till the firemen arrive, who hands her 2 kilos of coke, she hands it off to Kraken ?? who is comes to the infirmary because Madre had Daniel smash his face, who gives it to the kid, but the guards are hip to the fire being started and lock the place down, the kid tosses the dope to Daniel, who hides it.

Madre has a job for Daniel, kill Rocas who is stealing from him, the priesty guy called ears is Madre's ears and has informed, is this a test?, the warden gives Daniel 2 choices walk or kill the guy, hmm, but at least make it more than a minor wound.

Zoraida's mom comes to see her, what?, tells her Roxana is going to wed a very important man, treat her like a princess, so says the Professor.

Lado

Many thanks, deb, for your helpful recap, and for the specific information about Myelofibrosis.

I too assume that the "John Doe" brought to the hospital is Steve. I was thus surprised that the hospital reception person thought he fit the description that Andrés provided. IIRC, Steve did not have black hair (I remember it as light brown) and did not look "Latino." Oh well, beanie tightening time.

I too was disappointed that Sofia and Joel did the deed so soon. Among other reasons, if Alondra were to see them, she'd probably be very bitter toward her mother. Indeed, I half expected Alondra to come down the stairs in last night's episode.

What kind of cockamamie Interpol agents are Joel and Patrick? Neither of them seems to have said anything to Sofia and Alondra about not making calls or answering calls on their cell phones. As we see with Germán, such calls can help pinpoint locations. More beanie tightening. Ouch!

I wonder what the favor was that Sofia asked of the housekeeper (?) she spoke to on the phone.

I too remember seeing Sofia trying to get the car up the ramp and over the wall in episode one. But I think we saw more than we saw last night. Hmmm.... Or was that in an introductory trailer (in which case, we should say no more :-) )?

Lado

@Steve: I'm happy that you're posting about Lado, but I think what you say would be much clearer if you used the characters' names from the current novela rather than names of characters from other novelas or other TV programs. Using other characters' names (e.g., Bizzaro Gaviota 2.0, Deborah Sanders 2.0, Doug Stamper) can be confusing even to some of us who have seen those other novelas/programs, and people who haven't seen them are likely to be even more confused.

Lado

thanks Juanita!

hmm, so we don't hear the favor Sofia asks of the housekeeper, but, later she goes to see Carmen and tells her Sofia wants to get in touch with Eliza, don't we all says Carmen, but she will give the message to Eliza when she hears from her.

sounds like the car and ramp are just down the road, but they gave us a bit of a teaser in the first chapter when they showed us Sofia getting stuck on the ramp, will it be different tonight?

Lado

Thank you Steve, deb and Juanita.
We are almost back to where we started in the show. That sure was an eventful week in 2007.

I'm disappointed in Sofia and Joel, too, and kept hoping that the Alondra would not catch them. Their careless behavior caught up with them at the gas station. I guess near death experiences are a turn on for those two.

I wonder how Andres will figure in this story. He had no problem taking in Eliza and the kids but you could see the concern on his wife's face. He's taken risks come to the aid of many others. His wife thinks this could lead to his death. Uh, oh.

I thought that Andres told Eliza that he had the real estate office's number and would call in the morning to try to reach Max. What happened to that? Instead they decide to search LA. They leave a note at the bus station with Andres' address? Close call--at the hospital, Max comes down the stairs to the lobby just as Eliza and Andres leave the reception desk.

So many random happenings at the just the right time to complicate things--Charlie's illness, Steve's mugging, German's phone call, etc. Beanie tightening time.

Not sure but did Sofia ask the housekeeper to go to Carmen's house to get a message to Eliza?

Hey Ernesto, this whole novela is one big chess game. Black and white pieces with Paula as the evil queen, would-be kings and knights to the rescue. Many pawns on both sides. Some pieces have already been taken off the board.

"LADO":

Deb: I'm getting worried about the housekeeper because we've seen German getting whacked. I mean anyone in the cast is FAIR GAME.

"LADO":

Dondi356: I wasn't shocked they were having sex on the couch with Alondra sleeping UPSTAIRS. I mean what if the girl wanted to get a drink of water & walked downstairs seeing them ?

I agree with you on Andres' wife being worried about her husband easily taken others in: big question is whether the Syndicate will start gunning for him ?

Juanita: I use the nicknames because of the character's evilness (Ernesto, Paula the SL**, Jennifer, etc.,)

Lado

Steve, I agree that the characters are evil, but using the names of characters from other novelas makes it difficult for some people to understand the points you're making, because they don't know who Bizzaro Gaviota 2.0, Deborah Sanders 2.0, etc. are. It's fine to point out similarities in one message, but for most of your postings, I think more people will understand you if you use the characters' names in Lado.

"LADO":

Juanita: ROFLOL. I'll try to modify it.

We can expect Eliza & her kids to face extreme hostility not only from Mrs. Suarez, but from Andres' wife.

Lado
Certain elements are just so unbelievable and trite, like letting Sofia continue making calls from her cell, while they are escaping or Joel and Sofia kissing in a public place or Max leaving his phone out. I think the writers need to think more imaginatively to advance the plot!
Nevertheless I'm so far enjoying this telenovela,
Bella..

"LADO":

Bella: I'm worried the Gasoline Dude for whacked.

Body Count as of last night:

1.) Irene

2.) Juan's cronies

3.) German: :(

4.) The Smuggler

5.) Gasoline Dude in the Continent Store ?

Lado

Anonymous 7:07pm...I totally agree with you. This is a typical TN that requires the viewer to suspend common sense.

I think we're suppose to sympathize with Max...but I'm not feeling it. He knows his "favorite" wife and their children have supposedly arrived in a country where they are foreigners and don't speak the language. He has taken too much time to go to them. And yes, I think Jennifer is going to pull every trick in the book to get Eliza and her two deported.

Nett

Lado,
Agree with Steve and Nett; gasoline guy will probably bite the dust and Jennifer will either try to have Eliza and family deported or tell them that Max is dead, anything to keep them from finding him. Agree that I'm also not liking Max, so weak, too many years of dishonesty.
Bella

Lado

Looks like Sofia chose the wrong person to take refuge and trust in the US.
Did we know this guys was crooked when he was at the event in Mexico?

I hope Joel is not dead...but if he isn't and still working as a cop....I hope he has better instincts and protocol in the future.

LADO – Parte 1

The coyote (person who is paid to get Mexicans over the border) tells Sofía she has to drive the SUV over the wall herself and describes how best to do it.

Pastrana and some other thugs show up at the border. They found out about the plan for Sofía to cross the border from poor Germán, but Sofía is sure all through the episode that it was Patrick who betrayed them.

There’s a shootout, and Joel insists that Sofía and Alondra run to the SUV while he gives covering fire.

Ernesto is drinking and brooding over Sofía a) being gone and b) having another man. He can’t stand being un cornudo (cuckold). This scene has some more fine acting from Porras. He wants Paula to find out every single thing about Joel. He doesn’t know his name yet.

Joel is shot by one of the thugs. Then we see the scene from the very first episode all over again. Sofía and Alondra running along the Mexican side of the wall; finding the SUV; the long-haired matón pointing the gun at Sofía; Joel shooting the guy before collapsing.

There’s also a ramp on the other side of the wall! I worried about that. Sofía follows instructions and gets over safely but Pastrana guns his pickup and crashes on the other side.

Eliza and Andrés look at the guy in the ICU. His face is turned away from the door. Eliza goes in and discovers it’s not Max. Steve wakes up but has amnesia (big telenovela cliché).

Paula is in telephone contact with Vicentito. I’m thinking maybe the guy with the machine gun had different orders than Pastrana; i.e., kill Sofía.

Max and Jennifer are beside Charlie’s bed at the hospital. Despite Max’s good advice, Jennifer can’t pretend all that well in front of a sick child that all is well.

Eliza’s children are having a nice time with Andrés’ son, a very nice kid. [This is a fast recap; if I can’t remember characters’ names; i.e., nearly all the children, I’m NOT looking things up.]

While driving Sofía remembers Patrick telling her to meet him in McAllen (TX). She is suspicious of Patrick and turns around to go the other way.

Eliza’s kids call Carmen in Puebla but don’t tell her about their missing dad.

LADO – Parte 2

We get more excellent Porras brooding. He remembers the scene Paula told Sofía about how they chose his second wife. He remembers, I think, their wedding night. Paula keeps rubbing salt in his wounds about the lover.

Back at their house, Jennifer throws herself a pity party. He has two other children; she only has one. More and more hysterical she tells him he has to choose. Either he can have the other family or never see Charlie again.

Sofía goes to the house of Senator Cummings, the guy who was introduced at the big party at the Governor’s Mansion.

Ernesto tells Paula to get in touch with “the Texan” to find Sofía. Then he looks at a message and comes up with a funny line: la cerecita del pastel (the cherry on top of the cake). Looking grim he tells Paula that Joel is not only Interpol, not only his wife’s lover, but also the brother of the reporter SHE had killed.

Sofía tells the Senator the whole story. But she doesn’t tell him that the “proof” is with Eliza. [I’m suspicious of this Senator.] The “kind” Senator is a little too eager to get his hands on this proof. What does he gain by getting the goods on a politician in Mexico?

We get another fake scene of Max and Eliza reuniting in LA. But it’s Max’s dream.

Max finds Sofía’s note at the bus station saying she’s at the home of Andrés, the guy who was remodeling his house.

Sofía calls Eliza. She tells her she’s across the border. She says she’ll contact her later about a meeting to get the disc. She warns her not to tell anyone about that disc.

Senator Cummings wants Sofía to meet with the FBI.

Paula and Vicentito prepare to grill (torture) Márquez, the forensic pathologist about why a guy from D.F. was doing an autopsy in Puebla.

Max drives by Andrés' house and sees Eliza in the front yard. We don’t know yet what he does about it.

Lado: could the senator from Texas be the same Texan that was waiting the arrival of the kidnapped girls? If not, I still get the feeling he is working with Ernesto. So far, Sofia does not have good instincts as to whom to trust. She should not trust any of Ernesto's associates. At any rate this was an exciting, fast paced
episode. I don't think Joel is dead as his body was not found. Somehow I think he was rescued.
Bella

Lado

Another excellent recap, novelera! Muchísimas gracias. And thanks for including some Spanish terms.

I too thought Gabriel Porras did a fantastic job in this episode. He conveyed so much through small changes in his facial expressions.

At first I thought that Pastrana was just trying to get Sofia out in the open so she could be shot, but I wound up deciding that Vicentito gave orders to kill, whereas Pastrana had orders from Ernesto to bring Sofia back alive.

Like Bella, I suspect that Senator Cummings will turn out to be the "Texan," one of the big bosses in the human trafficking network. As soon as I saw that Sofia was in Texas, I began to wonder. When she was having the phone conversation with Eliza, the music in the background left no doubt that Sofia was in danger, and sure enough, when she turns around she sees that Cummings has come into the room and presumably has heard part of her conversation. And when he talks to her, he's far too interested in the details of what she knows, asking her whether she has the names of those involved, etc.

"LADO":

Juanita: It's increasingly likely United States Senator Irving Hastings is involved with the Syndicate.

Paula is the EVIL version of Olivia Pope.

"LADO":

Bella: Sofia is just has STUPID on her forehead. She just doesn't have good judgement in trusting people.

I already KNEW Hastings was involved in the sinister conspiracy with Ernesto & Juan, etc.,

Novelera: I'm expecting Marquez to join the Body Count soon.

I also do NOT trust Patrick.

I'm expecting Jennifer to be successful in deporting Eliza (who has the DVD).

Eliza's daughter is the translator.

LADO

STEVE; nice FU house of cards reference..!!
PLEASE KEEP BODY COUNT TO MAIN PLAYERS!! OR GROUP THEM, WE GOTTA READ THIS LIST ,ASAP!!

yes!!Sofia, you are in the deep end of the corruption pool

Joel has to live he is sofia's love interest!??

Paula you make Claire Underwood look likea cousin in law!! dirty!!

Max & eliza,WTF!!
HER POOR CARJACKED HUSBAND IN THE HOSPITAL!!

YES!!!the senator??!!!..OMG.. WHAT IF HE IS THE TRAFIIKKER!!!!!!!!
BUT HE MENTION FBI..or is it a mind game!! to win trust!!

"LADO":

Novelera: Who was Ernesto's 1st wife ? Was she killed when she got too close to his dirty little secrets ?

Lado

Good news is Steve Survived albeit w/amnesia...and his new connection to Eliza. As a businessman Max should know his marital rights. Granted he's a bigamist but most of her threats regarding her son are empty. Yet the potential to harm Eliza and kids is real. She and Paula are the same.

Max pulled far away from the house so he may decide Eliza's better off where she is. Andres and fam are good people but his wife's fears must have some validity

Spanish Student

Lado

It never fails.....when some has been deceiving and doing bad deeds gets betrayed...they are indignant and act like no one was more hurt or betrayed than them. Ernesto has bee cheating on Sofia since the beginning and used her from the beginnng. Now he’s the one that has been betrayed cause he saw the video of her with another man. Granted he doesn’t know how long Sofia has bee with Joel...but Ernesto..you are a lie and cheat...you are not better than anyone else even if you really love Sofia

So if Steve has amnesia and thinks Eliza. Is his wife...if Max doesn’t step up...perhaps this is how Eliza gets to stay in the country...but Eliza appears to be decent and honest...she might not take that route.

JOSE JOSE #31-35
THE WEEK really covered the corruption within the music industry.
Blondie /Claudia was featured predominantly, she has been recruited by the board of the record company as a decoy and hustler to offset any competition and to be available as a side piece for new clients.
She nevertheless… gets emotionally involved with Pedro, she was sicced on Pedro by the boss /frank. To keep taps on him. Pedro is in the bulls’ eye because he won’t use his artist to promote political causes

So, he is on the sh%t list with the boss, who intends to have political influence. frank needs $$$$$$$$

The record label has a charity event, but the suits in the head office use this as an opportunity to skim /scam and take a cut!!

Blondie/Claudia is upset that she had to be a part of this thief.

Whatshername sees Claudia and the boss are as thick as thieves…then the boss goes Harvey Weinstein on Claudia, who barely keeps her dress down as whatsherfaces interrupts, ...sounds like sexual assault??
Frank, the boss reminds Claudia that she has no social recourse and submission is coming!!

Jose is complaining abt Anel to Pedro, he resents her drugging him without his knowledge. the medication cause hallucinations terror!!

Anel cannot get a job, the rampant sexism is undermining her ... she blames her agent, but the agent calls her on her drug addiction. and lack of acting skills...!!

Blondie Claudia is locked out of the house by Jose, whose directly ask her to move out and take your hoochie coochie momma lifestyle with you...’’she laughs... it’s her house??

Whatsherface and the reporter Lira, are confabbing/ fibbing about the scam, and trying to get legit bank number / receipts… no good, still ...they decide to bid their time... and acquire good evidence
Gonzalo’s girlfriend is reuniting with her dad, Abel... and they find common ground, she tells him things will never progress with Gonzalo…

Gonzalo is working for Mr. abel as a photographer

Anel comes home and rips one into Pepe/Jose and pops a diet pill…speed??? Then the[dope/speed] ...’rams’... set in and she lits into joses/Pepe’s ass, jacks him up and puts him out.
She kicks him out and says they will talk after he finishes his obligation.
She cracks that he can include the house in his divorce settlement??
When did he buy the house??

Blondie and Pedro talk abt living together and Claudia says it’s a bad idea, she is not cut out for domesticity… Pedro confronts Blondie, but she tells him to chill and stay in his lane.

The agent also gets Jose a film job. But Enrique messes that u and sets Jose up for drug charges when he slips coco [ girl] into his jacket while the cops wait and watch… !! set up and frame up!!

But the boss tries to pull a Harvey Weinstein move on Claudia after work, but Whathername barges in and blondie makes her escape...

Whatherface tells Pedro abt the event, but she is not sure what really happen, but she suspects that it was not right….

JOSE :2

Claudia and Anel have a quiet dinner and pledge loyalty to each other… and Pedro snoops and finds blondie's broken bracelet…

Enrique is pushing dope on Jose and he takes a fall and is busted!!!..by Undercover cops, after the film wraps up... the manager peeps the scene and now has her suspicions abt Enrique??
I think Enrique IS WORKING FOR KIKI..!!!!

Pedro and blondie decide to deal with boss /Frank but not in a manner that will cost, Pedro his job….

Jose’s mom has had enough and has him committed involuntary…she sees his addiction requires strict intervention.

Anel and blondie discuss the future and the rent is going up$$

Jose is in hard core rehab ……no more country club rehab with parties and women!!
But real hard core-detox and stay clean. Real detox…and follow the rules rehab.

Momma /Margarita Ortiz is not playing, and neither are those bullies, nurses’ aides!! They will mess you up...!!if you don’t cooperate!!the dude pulled out a serious syringe of dope...!!sedatives from hell!!

Lado

thanks so much novelera !!!

if it helps on the kids, Eliza's are twins, Tomás and Karina, Ernesto's are Julián (from a former wife) and Alondra.

I like that this show is fast paced, but it also seems full of holes, I too never expected the ramp going down on the other side, wouldn't that look suspicious.

and the shootout, Joel had a cease fire, that's when Sofia should have taken off, and why are they stopped away from the SUV, and Joel is firing from behind the van while the bad guy is hiding behind some weeds, but Joel gets shot, and somehow he made it down to where they were, or made a very long shot.

the Senator is good at oozing slime, I could see him with some underage girls, and his wife is away.

I think Ernesto told Paula, he is taking charge, it's personal.

Patrick has come off to me as more of a bureaucrat, cover your ass, kind of a guy, who could very well betray to save himself, which is what Sofia might also be seeing.

nice that Max could spare the time to swing by the bus station, what's it been 2 days, this guy is carrying way too much baggage to be a good husband to Eliza, I too think that with Eliza looking happy, Max may put this off a little longer, he is good at that.

and I too think they might be planting a seed with Steve thinking Eliza is his wife.

since this show has to do with "del Muro", I'm wondering if Andres is undocumented.

Lado

Nett, you raise an interesting way the plot could have moved, but the writers seem not to have taken that route. Eliza makes it clear to Steve that she doesn't know him, and that the reason she's here with him is that she's looking for her husband, and she was told there was an unidentified man who might possibly have been him, so she came to look, but she sees he's not her husband. The doctor (understanding almost no Spanish) told her to stay here and talk to the him (John Doe) for a while.

It may be that eventually Steve will turn out to be a valuable link between Max and Eliza, but I don't think it will be because he thinks Eliza is his wife. Then again, my score for accurate predictions is abysmal, so.... :-)

HALIMACANDY: Corruption inside the music industry ?

"LADO":

Deb: I can see Jennifer upping the ante against Andres too.

Enemigo

some of the high points,

Alex has a flash drive (did they get it from the hitman), but when Olivia tries to de crypt it, it self destructs, well all but 1%, and we later see some security camera pics, (were they from this), and in them is the guy that killed Alex's parents (it's not Madre), and Alex puts a team together to get him, the Comandante wants Olivia to keep a close watch, but her satellite feeds have been allocated elsewhere (could this be the hacker?)

Tilapia makes the hit, with Madre staring him down and Fang (Colmillo), (who I misidentified earlier as Kraken), pushing a knife into his back reminding him if he doesn't do it, he will die, the warden is upset they couldn't save Rocas, he was stabbed 3 times in the stomach, a sure thing. (the priesty guy has told Madre that Tilapia is soft on the inside, so I'm thinking this is a game for him) and Madre welcomes Tilapia into his inner circle.

the warden gives Alex the news, he's ok with it which disturbs those around him.

some of the dark knights raid one of our narco's cocaine factories, killing all, later celebrating their win, the barkeep tips Luis who comes and rounds them up, the are beheaded except the girl who is shot by the Don himself, despite his bad heart.

Roxana notices Tilapia's dilemma and maybe clicks on the hit, she knows he's a softy too, but things are looking up for her, Zoraida who never misses a chance to torment her princess (Roxana) lets her know word has come down that Roxana is untouchable, Roxana uses her new freedom to get a cell phone.

the guard Eladia, (who works for Zoraida) is being squeezed by the captain for info on who brought in the cocaine during the fire, she asks Zoraida what to do, later we see her telling him, it was Roxana.

Lado

I was also speculating about who could be the love interests of our two protagonists as their lives unfold in Los Angeles. The beginning of the novela has "2007" on the screen. I don't know how Eliza and Max's relationship will go awry but I believe that it will. They kind of dropped a hint something could happen with Steve. He gave her one of those soul searching looks when he laid eyes on her But, sorry to say it, this guy doesn't look hunky enough to be a main love interest. He's also married with a wife and child in Madrid.

I was SURE Andrés would be the replacement love interest for Eliza, but he's married also. His wife has a bit of an edge about Eliza, but they haven't shown her as an evil witch likely to be written off the show to clear the way for Eliza and Andrés.

I'm not as hard on Max as some of the other commenters here. There was some plot exposition about it being a drunken one night stand that produced Charlie. I also vaguely remember that his father-in-law and Jennifer insisted on a shotgun wedding when all he wanted was to financially provide for the as yet unborn child. He sincerely loves all three of his children. But I just find it hard to see the writers working things out for Max and Eliza, so some other galán is perhaps in the wings when the time jump occurs.

I have the feeling that Sofía might end up being bitter and angry at men. Just a theory. I'm sure Joel isn't dead. But the what seems likely to me scenario of her thinking he's dead for 10 years bothers me.

I wasn't upset about the sex with Joel. Sofía was gob smacked when she saw those little girls. She's traumatized by discovering that the husband she loved is despicable. People have been known to use "sexual healing" when things go wrong for them.

I'm intrigued wondering how the three (possibly four, if Charlie lives) children will be portrayed 10 years on. I'm sure the two little girls, Alondra and Karina, will be as warm hearted and good as they are as little children. Tomás (thanks for the name, Deb) could be a problem child. He's definitely disobedient; i.e., playing the DVD against his mother's explicit orders on the bus.

I don't think Eliza will be deported. And I don't think it's a spoiler that all accounts of the novela indicate that the bulk of it will concern two women's lives in Los Angeles: Eliza and Sofía.

Steve, I don't recall any mention of Ernesto's first wife, other than her dying when Julián was 3. It's not an impossible scenario that Paula could have had her killed. But she was scheming with him for a second wife to improve his political chances, so I'm thinking it was a natural death.

Lado

Steve, you're right about Jennifer...she's already threatened to play dirty and she's just getting started. Eliza will be an easy target until she wisens up. That may take a while since she's also dealing with the new culture, homelessness, and a language barrier. And one way or another, things will get worse when Sofia arrives.

"LADO":

Spanish Student: I'm worried for Eliza because if Paula & Co., figure out she has the CD.....

Enemigo:

Thanks, Deb for identifying some of the people. I think the guy with the shaved head, who killed Alex's family, is nicknamed Sansone. I'm not sure how they know where he is.

There's also that young prisoner Chamaco, whom Tilapia is teaching to read and write. Madre says in one week you have to read one of my poems, and if you mess up, I'll cut off one of your and Tilapia's fingers (or something like that).

The prison psychiatrist, Marimar, asks Roxana about her dreams, she says she sees bloody hands. I thought she already knew those were Madre's hands, but maybe she's not sure. She acts as if she doesn't remember that massacre of her family, but I'm pretty sure she does. I'm also leaning more and more to the belief that Alex is right, Roxana really knows way more about Fernando than she lets on, but she's a great actor. She tells Tilapia that he's an actor, he's acting nice to her to get on her good side, whereas she says she's a pésima (awful) actor. Which leads me to think that she's quite the opposite. We shall see.

Enemigo

Hombre, they did facial recognition software to get Sansone's name, then found that he had recently been released from jail and who he was connected to, etc. Alex wants to get him before he disappears.

I think Madre said he would chop off a hand of each of them.

I got a different take on the acting thingy, maybe the english captios are different, it started when Roxana asks Tilapia (and who ever gets the nickname of a farmed fish) if he was going to be in the play and he said no, and he can't act, then she goes into where we are all actors in life, etc, etc. (she was digging out what had him off his game) and he came up with some lame line, and she said yes, you are a bad actor, something like that, I laughed anyway.

Roxana was 5 at the time she was wisked away to another world, I'm going with that she was traumitized by the whole thing and doesn't remember, but has ways of surviving, I think she is smart by not talking.

Mirimar and Alex made a pretty strong connection, at Olivia's displeasure, he felt as if he had always known her.

Lado, Like Novelera I wasn't upset either by the sex between Sofia and Joel. I think it was a necessary final break to Sofia's marriage commitment to Ernesto. All energy and ties to Ernesto over!

Bella: You want to bet Paula & Co., are torturing Joel ?

Lado

Steve you're right about Paula. Eliza doesn't seem to understand what the CD represents, even though she should after hearing that Sofia had to flee the country.. Still, she doesnt seem capable of protecting it.

I also agree that Sofia's romance with Joel was a necessary release (separation from Ernesto) since in the midst of a sea of corruption, he's a likeminded, good man.

Spanish Student: Looking forward to tonight's big episode. My theories on the following:

1.) United States Senator Irving Hastings (R-TX) is involved in the sinister conspiracy & he's "The Texan". His constant badgering of Sofia & the information seems to me that he's going to do something horrible to Sofia & her daughter.

2.) Does anybody know that Jennifer & Andres are siblings ? It seems that Jennifer doesn't want anything to do with some members of her own family with her SELF-HATE.

3.) Paula has cronies inside the LAPD somehow & if one of her spies informs her that Eliza had the CD, etc., WATCH OUT.

4.) Eliza's daughter seems awesome & very breath of fresh air. I'm waiting for the decade later sequence because we're still stuck in "2007".

5.) The big question is whether Patrick (Joel's boss) is corrupt ?

Lado: Steve, maybe I'm being naive but somehow I think he escaped unharmed.
