Here's Page 2 for the week. The current evening telenovelas are as follows (all times are Eastern Daylight Time):
• 9-10PM—Sin senos sí hay paraíso 3
• 10-11PM—El señor de los cielos 6
• 9-10PM (Sundays)—Falco**
**A new telenovela, Falco, began this past Sunday, July 22. It will be broadcast every Sunday at 9 PM (EDT). Here is the information novelera provided on last week's 2nd Telemundo y Más page: "[Falco will star] Michel Brown, an Argentinian actor who is most famous for Pasión de Gavilanes. After 22 years of being in a coma, Falco wakes up. He goes back to the only thing that's left - his work as a police inspector - to try and learn what happened to him, and regain what he can of his life and family." Telemundo's website offers several short videos about the novela. Also, if you missed seeing the episode on Sunday, no problem: Telemundo has made it available for viewing on the website. (This will very likely be true for each episode.)
Everyone is welcome to join in the conversation. Since discussions of all the Telemundo novelas share the same page, please remember to put the name of the telenovela you're referring to at the top of your post, so readers can easily find the conversations they're looking for.
By common agreement, this group DOES NOT discuss previews, trailers, or any other plot information not found in a current or past episode of the current production. Spoilers WILL be removed by the admin. This includes reference to earlier productions of the story, and even the original novel. Thanks for your cooperation!

What does BPN have cooking up in his goal of exterminating Daddy Casilas & Co., ?
We'll find out soon enough.
it's a new day,
Dayana is packing when Liset and Mirta get home, she starts with my house, my..., but gives it all to them, and some money, Liset tosses the money, Dayana slaps her, Mirta is lost... but Liset stands her ground, (crippled in a wheelchair)
Diabla and her cell mate talk.
Hernan checks with the doc that did the DNA test, yep, it's good.
Sandra comes for the news on Hernan, beats on the door, Cata M asks if she needs to go to the bathroom, Dayana is being chauffeured by, stops to hit on Sandra.
Cata G didn't sleep, neither did Santi, maybe we should have..., Paola calls, Cata G will look for Ximena, hmm, this reminds her of the curse.
Tony shows, tells Cata G Miguel needs her, nope.
Villa is ready to return to Mexico, Dayana not, he hasn't killed Cata M yet, she won't leave without the crown, hmm, this falls on Titi, but he is a narco, not a hitman, he gets up and leaves but Dayana follows, let's talk, she is marrying Villa to learn the business, and to gain his confidence so she can kill him, but she needs a partner, and plays on Titi's desire to be king.
Cata G arrives at Xime's house, so does the Colonel, Ximena is dead, Cata G's shadow Tony is near, dying to comfort her.
the Colonel wants her to identify the body, hmm, she calls Jota but says nothing, Albeiro and Hilda arrive for breakfast, Al calls Cata G back, she spills about Ximena, she will handle the burial, they should return today.
Hernan finally gets it, he goes to Cata M, nothing will ever come between us again.
Titi asks Dayana who she will kill after Villa, he will never trust her but they make the deal, first he wants Cata G's number.
Albeiro breaks the news to Hilda's entourage, sadness all around, Albeiro doesn't know how she died or anything about Daniel.
Cata G gives Tony a mini recap of the "chicas del barrio" that will never be without Ximena.
Hilda wonders if it was suicide, she wanted to die when she found out her kids were dead, Jota brings up the curse.
Titi and Dayana shake, socios, 50/50.
Hilda's group prepares to return to town, not Hilda, not without Carlos.
I'm not really getting Diabla's cell mate, they talk in circles as to not give anything away about themselves, but she asks about Titi's location, it could keep you out of prison.
Thanks very much, deb, for another very helpful recap.
I was pleased to see Liset continue to stand up to Dayana (hmmm, I guess "stand up" isn't the best choice of words in this case). Liset's transformation from someone dominated and frightened by her older sister to the gutsy young woman we see now is heartening, though my beanie is making noises.
I was also pleased to see Titi turn down Villa's "request" that he kill CataM, saying that he's a narco, not a sicario. I imagine that Titi's feelings for CataG probably came into play here.
So Dayana plans to marry Villa, learn the business from him, and then kill him and take over his thriving business. That didn't really surprise me, since she's such a [fill in your favorite expletives here]. What did surprise me is her telling all this to Titi and recruiting him to be her partner, 50/50. He's somewhat skeptical, and asks her who she'll do in after Villa. She claims that she values her life above everything, and she knows if she betrays Titi he'll kill her. They seem to come to an agreement and shake hands, but I'm hoping his loyalty to Villa is stronger than his loyalty to Dayana (or perhaps his confidence in Villa vs his lack of confidence in Dayana).
At one point in his discussion with Dayana, he asks her for CataG's phone number. I'm not sure why he asked for it. The only thing I could think of is that, since CataG is supposedly the love of his life, he may be calling her to warn her about Dayana's wish to kill CataM. I also did not understand what Dayana said after she gave him CataG's number: Pilas con esa hembra que te ha puesto en jaque. I think she's saying that CataG has put him in check/paralyzed him, but I'm not sure about pilas con esa hembra. Be careful of that woman?
deb, I was glad to see that you too weren't sure what to make of the other woman in the cell with Diabla. When she asked about Titi's location, I began to think that she's working for the TEA or the Colombian police. Diabla seems appropriately wary.
1.) Blue Eagle & Corina along with the Old Boxing Promoter helping Daddy Casilas recover.
2.) Diana & Ishmael having good talk at the fancy restaurant.
3.) Navarro itching to jump Ambar's vagina.
4.) The Venezuelan Ambassador to Mexico receives boatload of $$$.
5.) El Capo launching another attack on the Secret hideout of Daddy Casilas.
6.) Super Javi & Casaloba coordinating together in Colombia.
7.) Melina unsuccessfully tried to kiss Ritula.
Thank you for the recap Deb
My money is on Lizeth. Demonia might actually be going down. If Villa over hears her talking about wanting to kill him and take the business, she's done for. He will wanna kill both her and Titi, I am sure Titi can take care of himself. But, can Demonia defend herself from a man like Villa? I haven't doubted Villa's ability since he burst Martin out of jail, and especially because of the way he did it.
CataM was really happy. And I'm glad Hernan didn't fall for Mariana's manipulation and crocodile tears. Are they gonna fall apart again after CataM tells him she still doesn't want babies?
I didn't think any of the 5 chicas was going to die before all the children supposed to die are dead
Terrific recap, deb. I liked Cata G didn't sleep, neither did Santi, maybe we should have...
Juanita, pilas are batteries. A common idiom, at least in telenovelas it's common is ponerse las pilas, which I think could be translated literally as charge your batteries or get ready for action.
Dayana was warning Titi to beware of CataG.
Evagaline, you're right. It seems the curse would be worse if the women saw their daughters die and THEN died themselves. This whole reciting of the "fives" makes my head ache! I just am not on board with the supernatural stuff in this novela. I prefer plain old villains that are out for money and/or stealing the desired man or woman from their rivals.
Thanks, novelera, for your reply to my question. I know that pilas are batteries and am familiar with the expression ponerse las pilas, but I'm not sure I see how that meaning works with the passage I quoted. Get ready for action with that woman who has put you in check? Well, maybe.
BTW, I agree with you completely about the supernatural stuff. I think that's one reason I'm having a hard time relating to this novela. I find myself much more interested in the parts of the novela that have nothing to do with supposed curses.
They repeated the premiere last night but the guide on DirecTV called it Season 1, Episode 2.
Re-watching the first 15 minutes, I immediately spied some errors in my recap on Sunday. Grrr. I might have said that they had captured the assassin. They did not; they had in hand the bank guard who witnessed the assassination.
I will do another recap Sunday but doubt it will be as long.
thanks all!
Alberio sure has become a strong character, maybe because of his son, who?, considering that he spent most of season 1 trying to talk Cata M out of her Vendetta and returning to him as his sweet innocent daughter.
Hilda certainly is willing to go the extra mile to help those around her.
I too am not really buying into this second curse, since Abigail is dead and the packets she put together should have been dispersed.
Ximena's death, well, the way the waterless firemen were walking around the place maybe looking for a cold beer, it seems like Daniel and Ximena should have just walked out, I see her death as a result of being stupid more than anything, or maybe the person that blew the window curtain over the burner.
but I am still open to what Laura has going on, she has good reason to hate the Chicas.
the not-a-hitman Titi has also dropped the ball on killing Diabla, something he willingly took on, ok, so the bad guys are all busy making deals with the devil.
and Cata G's take on things, they need to get out of town ASAP, will Tony follow?
I suppose Martin now weighs about 300 pounds and hasn't the energy to go after another victim.
yep, doesn't look like this is going to end anytime soon, the rumor was started by the Titi actor after filming, maybe he didn't see these other scenes or compensated for the flashbacks which are going back to season 1.
I really appreciate your recaps on this one, I usually don't watch Sunday shows.
I watched a few clips from the French series, "Falco", from 2013, very very similar, that one ran at least 4 seasons.
deb, I loved your added comments, especially "the way the waterless firemen were walking around the place maybe looking for a cold beer, it seems like Daniel and Ximena should have just walked out"; "they need to get out of town ASAP, will Tony follow?"; and my favorite: "I suppose Martin now weighs about 300 pounds and hasn't the energy to go after another victim." ¡Ojalá!
I'm very sorry to hear that this will drag on for many more so-called episodes.
CataG continues to show her lack of forethought. Miguel wants her to testify against La Diabla, to build a bigger case against her. They're thinking of giving Yesica a very reduced sentence, they need CataG to make sure all the proof against Yesica is used. But Cata says no, I quit the TEA, I won't help. Not smart, as Yesica will probably get out way too soon, and then immediately could start killing Cata and her friends. Yes, Cata, you're really helping your family (not).
CataM and Sandra wonder, if Nacho isn't the father, who is? In a flashback, they realize that Dayana might know, because Dayana recruited Mariana to go to a party (and we know she took her to meet Titi). So maybe this could eventually lead to Mariana's secret coming out.
For people who did not see earlier seasons, the girl in the background who was not smiling when CataG appeared to the other chicas (after supposedly having been dead 20 years) was Martina, Paola's daughter, later killed by Titi.
Surprised that nobody really even asked about Daniel
Cata G is upset over Ximena, drives home to meet Santi, Tony will escort her.
Titi has brought 2 hitmen to the barrio, stops to make a call, tells Cata G to hide her sister, the number 2 man from Mexico has ordered a hit on her, why?, because she won the crown, sometimes life is stupid.
Cata G decides to rejoin the TEA, Tony is ecstatic, tells Miguel.
Cata G talks to Santi about Ximena, (what about Cata M), they hug, oh and there is a hit on my sister, better call her, think?, but Cata M and Hernan are making up, he asks her to marry him, they get busy, all calls are on hold.
Hilda and Albeiro will spring Carlos, worried?, the nurse gives them some heavy duty sedatives.
Jota and Paola go see Manuel, yikes, he's worse than dead, his arm falls off, they make a run for it.
Hernan and Cata M work on the Catalina the 4th, Cata G arrives with Tony, knocks, it's probably about Mariana, they choose ignore.
Jota and Paola try to explain to the police about Manuel, they don't do so well.
Hilda confronts Carlos as a big intern is holding the leash to his neck collar, Carlos sniffs (shades of Martin), touches her necklace, he begins to remember, remembers Hilda and the girls tying Laura to a tree and tormenting her, he lunges at Hilda, the intern jerks him back, doc Novoa takes her to his office.
the doc tells Hilda he underestimated Carlos case, he can't release him if he is so violent, but Hilda needs to stay close.
Cata G spills about the hit, Cata M fingers Dayana, they click on that she has a narco behind her (as well as the Chica Mala song).
Villa's brain is now jello as Dayana parades her new bikini selections, hope you like them.
Titi has moved his guys into the park, across from, is that Hilda's house (I guess he didn't bother to ask Dayana where Cata M lives) Hernan's place is on another street.
since the hit is for today, that's plenty of time for Cata G to deal with the important stuff, she guesses why Hernan and Cata M are going/moving to Bogota, they are getting married, happiness all around, oh but Mariana, why did you get the DNA test on the sneak, duh, Cata M explains, Hernan adding that he saw the doc and the test is legit, hmm.
anyone know the name of Diabla's cell mate, we're back to the talk on Titi, she knows someone that could help Diabla, and speaking of marriages, Miguel rushes in, the TEA deal with Diabla, accepto.
Thanks, deb, for an excellent recap of a mediocre episode. I enjoyed a number of your comments, starting with "Cata G talks to Santi about Ximena, (what about Cata M), they hug, oh and there is a hit on my sister." You captured the oddness of CataG's account to Santi. At first nothing at all about Titi's call warning her that her sister is about to be murdered. And then oh, by the way.... I also enjoyed your saying "since the hit is for today, that's plenty of time for Cata G to deal with the important stuff." One more fave: "speaking of marriages, Miguel rushes in, the TEA deal with Diabla, accepto."
The absurd encounter of Jota and Paola with a deader than dead Don Manuel made my beanie fall off in disgust.
Given Villa's judgment and behavior with Dayana, it's hard to believe that he's smart enough to be one of the top drug traffickers.
Not having seen the earlier seasons, I didn't understand why Hilda joined with the girls in tormenting Laura, who is tied to a tree. Young girls can be mean to each other, and Laura may have given them reason to be mean, but what would cause an adult like Hilda to behave like that to a young girl? Perhaps it's no wonder that Carlos became violent when he remembered that occurrence. Do I have to cross Hilda off my list of likeable characters? It wasn't a large list to begin with, and now it seems there's almost no one left.

Jota screamed louder and higher than Paola.. they showed him for the wuss, he truly is.. I lost respect for him as a man…
Halimacandy, I love your comments. But are you saying that the moderately long flashback of Hilda and the girls taunting the tied-up Laura never really happened, that it's just a figment of Carlos' imagination? I was under the impression that all the flashbacks we see actually occurred. How are we to know that, unlike every other flashback, this never happened? Back in whatever earlier season this supposedly happened, did viewers see Carlos "see" this? I'm really puzzled.
I'm glad to see you say you've lost all respect for Jota as a man, though I'm surprised it took you this long! I lost all respect as soon as he appeared in SS3. Of course, I hadn't seen any of the earlier seasons, where he may have been very different. All I can say is that I find him ridiculous and extremely annoying, not to mention cowardly.
I agree with Halimacandy that Hilda going along with the torture of Laura is totally out of character for Hilda. So, I don't think it's a figment of Carlos's imagination, I think what Halimacandy was implying is that Laura MADE UP this story, and told it to Carlos, who wasn't there to see it. In the flashback, Hilda even said, you're not my daughter, and your dear father, as usual isn't here to defend you! So it's plausible that Laura told Carlos this. Of course this complicates the whole thing, and if Hilda has to make many visits, that's not ideal, since this town is about 4 hours away from Pereira (maybe 80 kilometers, but the driving is slow :)
The dead Manuel? I think he died twenty years ago, and his body has decayed. How did the chicas (and Jota) talk to him 2 days ago? Well, if voodoo works, and curses work, why not dead bodies appearing alive and talking? No rules, you know?
Now that CataG is back in the TEA, I guess the move back to Miami is off. But did she really have to rejoin, just to protect CataM? I think CataG isn't making that much sense (if she ever did).
And where is Albeiro? I thought he stayed with Hilda to go back to the manicomio. But he wasn't with Hilda, he wasn't with Paola and Jota, and he wasn't back in Pereira. Maybe he's in Hilda's old house, and the sicarios will accidentally shoot him, so he can spend some more time in the hospital recovering (from this show).
Well, late to the party and the excellent discussions. Thanks again, deb, you were at your snarky best.
Hombre, I like your idea that Laura, who was earlier shown being the worst little girl ever, might have told her father this tale about Hilda tying her to a tree. I just can't believe Hilda would EVER do that. And we saw a flashback about Laura as a child being defiant or some such and then running to her father with a tale of Hilda's being mean to her.
Has there been an actual episode in which Dayana had that "adjustment" to her hindquarters? Or are you speculating, Halimacandy? In any case, yikes! Although I haven't visited her for a while, my chiropractor would gasp at the sight, diagnose lordosis and have her on a back exercise regimen lickety split.
Yep, that shrieking Jota and Paola scene was just about unbearable. OK, anyone would be taken aback by seeing a corpse/mummy like that. But they wasted about 10 minutes while the two idiots tried to explain to a cop what they'd seen.
It also makes NO sense that CataG has to rejoin the TEA to protect her sister. Either do it yourself, or have Tony pack she and Hernán up, slip out the back door and take them to another town. Also, they were talking about moving to Bogotá, but I thought their college was just a few miles away. So, even before they knew they were in danger they planned to just get married and leave their studies?
I can't help myself. I like Titi. Sounds like he's done some awful things in the past. But all I've seen him do is run a cocaine lab and try to court CataG. And now he's saved CataM, or at least we hope he has.
So Santiago, whose intelligence is VERY suspect, gets huffy because CataG gets a phone call from Titi that will hopefully save her sister's life?
As to the missing Fabián Ríos, perhaps he needed a break from the shrieking Jota, Paola and Vanessa, and went to a spa to rest his ears.
And speaking of missing, where is Albeirito? Albeiro got him out of there but doesn't seem to feel any need to get the kid out of the Colombian Child Protective Services.
The episode begins in a very gothic cemetery with lots of huge statues. We see a man lying down on a grave with blood on his forehead, but he appears to be still alive. Someone raises a big stone and begins to smash it against his face again and again.
Falco wakes up in his extremely cheap room at the pensión. He drives his 23-year-old car to work. [Anyone know what kind of car this is? My son would know if he watched shows in Spanish, which he does not do.]
Juan Pablo Bravo, the top cop in this area, is heading up a meeting of his detectives. [From now on, I’ll name him as Falco does: Juanpa.] Juanpa is describing an awful crime in which 6 people are shot in a restaurant and that this is a top priority.
He then introduces Alejandro Falco to the rest of the cops. He says that Falco was his partner when he began his career. Caballero and Eva Salomón both look sour during this.
Sonía introduces herself, telling Falco she’s his shrink. He tells her rather testily that he wasn’t in a mental hospital, but a regular one. She tells him their sessions will help him adapt to the present. Speaking of the present, Falco needs help from Juanpa to use the new coffee machine.
Caballero whines to Eva Salomón about being assigned to work with the “Sleeping Beauty” (bella durmiente). She tells him crisply that it’s an order and, besides, she reviewed his file and discovered he was a first-class cop. She also tells Caballero that it’s been hard to get a partner for him; he’s had two this year.
[I’m picking up a kind of Asperger’s vibe from Caballero. He’s dogged about his work but seems to have no people skills.]
Eva gets a call and tells Caballero that he and Falco have their first case; a body has been found.
As they leave Falco notes TC’s (short for Tenoch Caballero) sullen face. He says he knows that they started off badly [Falco cuffed him to a pipe on the wall.] but he doesn’t see ghosts or hear La Llorona in the night. He’s completely normal. And, he tells TC, you aren’t so darn normal either.
They arrive at the cemetery to find the body inside the usual yellow caution tape. The victim has been identified; it’s Leonel Garro, a sports reporter for La Reforma (a real newspaper in Mexico City). The Medical Examiner on scene introduces himself as Felipe Mares. Mares states his estimate of the time of death and the cause. Falco says it appears like a crime of passion to him. TC pooh-poohs this, saying they have to use correct police methods.
TC looks through Garro’s cell phone and texts and explains to Falco what texts are and that most people do that instead of actually calling people. This causes the two cops to realize that the decedent had two women and two children.
Back at the station, Falco opines that the victim's job as a reporter would make it easy to maintain two relationships. TC simplifies it all, saying nowadays you’d just get a divorce. Falco tells him pointedly that he thinks TC has a problem with commitment.
I think TC was a bit nettled by this because he comes out with: “My respects to you for being so pleasant to Mares.” Falco: ¿”El perito?” (the expert or in this case the M.E.) TC goes on: “the man who’s now with your wife.”
And, just then Carolina appears and asks him what he’s doing there. Falco: “I work here.”
Later Falco yells at Juanpa, referring to Felipe Mares as sepulturero ese (that gravedigger). Juanpa tells Falco that Caro hardly left his bedside. “She had black circles around her eyes like you had when you came out of the coma.” Falco says he understands she might have found someone, but why did it have to be someone he has to work with every day. Juanpa tells him Mares has worked here 12 years.
Eva Salomón, in her office, is asking Falco why she doesn’t have his crime scene report yet. He says it’s not ready yet; needs some more information. She coolly tells him the procedure is different now. It has to be sent in (ingresado) right away. Sarcastically, Falco tells her he’ll ingresarlo as soon as he puts a foot outside the station.
Falco and TC talk to the widow of Leonel Garro, Katía. TC, with his usual tactlessness, leans forward and asks her if she knew about his lover. “No, she replies. They were a united family.” They only had some money problems because of Samuel’s illness (the younger child).
Then they switch to a scene where they are interviewing the lover, Celina. TC blurts out that he was found with his head damaged in the front. Falco. “He was murdered.” TC asks if she knew the man’s wife. Celina replies that they were to be married in four weeks.
Carolina comes to see Falco at his pensión. She tells him he didn’t tell her about going back to work as a cop. He replies: “But you didn’t tell me about Mares.” She tells him about what it was like for her to wait for him to awake year after year. He asks her if they were happy “before”. Smiling, she says that they were. He tells her that they can be so again. She touches his face, doesn’t answer, and leaves.
TC (Caballero) gripes to Falco that the attendant at his pensión wouldn’t put his call through when he called last night. And TC is SO disgusted when Falco lights up a cigarette right there in the office. He tells him about the new rules in Mexico and not to smoke in the office; he has asthma [of course he does].
Somehow they have found a video of Leonel, the deceased, stealing stuff from Jonás López’ locker. Apparently he stole them at halftime of a soccer game four years ago.
Falco doesn’t know about López. He’s told the guy was the delantero (forward) most famous at the time, the Captain of Mexico’s World Cup team three times. What was stolen was una playera, un balón y una medalla de campeón (a team t-shirt, a ball and a champion’s medal). These things would have been worth a half million pesos.
[So why didn’t this video show up when all this happened?]
Falco and Tenoch interview the famous football player, López. They show him evidence that 500,000 pesos were deposited last month in his account. López, nervous, finally admits that the money appeared at his house, together with a note apologizing for the theft. Falco: “And you didn’t speak up so as not to lose the money that the stadium paid you for the loss when it happened.”
At the end of this interview we hear voices outside. Katía the wife and Celina, the lover, are arguing. Celina wants to say goodbye to the corpse. She shrieks that she saw Katía’s car in her street.
Mares tells Falco he hopes they can have a peaceful relationship and puts out his hand. Falco shakes it, but tells him the only way for peace is for Mares to stop … [fill in the blanks] … his wife.
Falco wonders why the murdered guy stole the things in the first place to pay for them 4 years later. Eva says they found the answer in casas de empeño (pawnshops). Leonel pawned them and, when he tried to get them back, they’d been sold.
Eva shows TC a bank statement of the victim. He deposited $485K on the day of the robbery, and the same amount was deposited into the hospital where his son, Samuel, was being treated.
Falco is at, I think, Celina’s house. He spies Leonel’s daughter and chases her down. At the station, TC can’t get a thing out of her, but Falco tells her a story about guilt, his own, and she spills that she saw her father outside the cemetery. He was arguing with a woman. They went inside, and she didn’t go in after them.
We see Caballero at his desk. His mother calls, and he lies to her, saying he’s with friends, and about to enter some club.
Falco shows up in the morning, calling TC Niño. Apparently TC spent the night reviewing who was buried in that cemetery. He came up with Martín Dominguez, who died the same day as the football player’s things were stolen. Dominguez went to the game, left after the first half, and was run down outside the stadium. Falco has done some research also and says that Leonel had his car in for repairs, damage as if he’d hit a large animal.
Falco is a very reluctant therapy patient.
The cops get a search warrant for Martín Dominguez’ apartment. Falco and TC find a photo with Celina and Martín. Falco: “Celina met Leonel at Martin’s tomb.”
Falco and TC go to Katía’s house. They hear shots fired. Leonel’s children are outside in a car for some reason. Falco walks into the apartment, sees Celina pointing a gun at Katía and gets between the two women. He tells her that, at this point in his life, he doesn’t care if she kills him. He asks her: “Did he tell you he could not marry you?” “No”, she responds. “Did he tell you he was the one who ran down Martín?”
Celina screams and sinks to the ground. Falco embraces her before she’s taken away.
Falco asks Katía if she ever doubted her husband’s love. She tells him she did not.
TC gives Falco a fat police manual and a cell phone. He tells Falco his number and the appropriate other policemen’s numbers are already in there. Falco calls TC before he can get 10 yards away.
Falco asks his father, in an echo of what his therapist asked him, to think of places he remembers in D.F. The next scene is Falco and his father in a restaurant 44 years old.
I did NOT mean to write a long recap. But describing the complicated murder just couldn't seem to be condensed.
MANY THANKS, novelera, for this wonderfully detailed and helpful recap. I found myself very confused as I was watching the episode, and your recap was just what I needed to clear up some of my confusion.
I was especially confused about two things: 1) who was Martin and what did he have to do with Leonel's murder, and 2) what did Falco say to the daughter about his father. Your recap answered my first question. As for the second, I thought that Falco told the daughter that when he was about her age, his father took him and his younger brother to a fútbol match. Some guys started trouble, there was a lot of fighting. His father wanted to leave because it was getting dangerous. Falco wanted to stay. They stayed, but things got very ugly, and someone drove a car into a bunch of people, including Falco's father and younger brother. Falco then says a los tres días se me murió, which I took to mean that Falco's father died. And later, TC offers Falco his condolences about his father! Of course, at the end of the episode, I was reminded that his father is still alive. I then went back and looked again at the scene where TC offers his condolences, and I saw that I had completely missed Falco's response to TC: "I'll give him your condolences when I see him at the end of the week." So I guess it was Falco's younger brother who died, and it's the brother's death that Falco feels guilty about.
It's interesting that JuanPa is the only person among the police who isn't somewhat hostile to Falco. TC resents having this old guy (and a smoker to boot) as his partner, Salomon thinks Falco resents taking orders from a woman, and even the psychiatrist is a cold fish. I found myself especially unhappy with her. I would have hoped someone in her position would have better people skills and better understanding.
I don't know whether I'd say TC has Asperger's, but he does seem to be on the spectrum. And Falco is shown to be quite opposite: he almost immediately picked up clues suggesting to him that the journalist's death was a crime of passion, and he takes off his badge and shares the story about his childhood and lingering guilt when he interviews the daughter. I suspect that his sensitivity may play a part in the solving of crimes in the coming episodes.
I was interested in Falco's interaction with Leonel's daughter, but I just couldn't include everything or the recap would have gone on much longer. Falco told her that his father took him to, I think, a boxing match. At least he said something about wanting to see his favorite luchador. What I was wondering about is whether it was lucha libre, sort of like the farcical wresting we have in the US, or whether it was boxing. I decided he meant boxing.
Juanita, you are probably right that the person who died was the younger brother. Although Falco, to get the guilt more similar to the young woman's guilt; i.e. failing your parent, led her to believe it was his father who died.
I think I am going to enjoy Tenoch and Falco as partners since they both have personal and professional issues to deal with. Tenoch was much more humanely portrayed this episode. The show strikes me as a solid police drama with just enough personal drama to carry the viewer through week after week.
Juanita, interesting take on Tenoch perhaps being on the Asperger’s spectrum.
Novelera, Falco leading the young woman to believe his father had died just goes to show Falco will do whatever he needs to do to solve the crime. 😊

"Tenoch was a ruler of the Méxicas (Aztecas) during the 14th century and while the Aztecs traveled from Aztlán to Tenochtitlán. Tenoch's father was Iztacmixcoatl, who had a total of seven sons with two wives. The Tenochtitlán people were originally referred to as Tenochca, later the Méxica.
He was a respected chief who was elected to power by the council of elders and died in 1375. There is disagreement as to whether Tenoch is a mythological person or a real Méxica leader who was later mythologized. Tenoch was one of nine Méxica leaders who were told how Méxica could gain support from the forces of nature.
After traveling southward for a span of 200 years, the Méxica found the sign. In honor of their leader, they named the small, reedy island in Lake Texcoco, Tenochtitlán. Tenochtitlán soon became the capital of the Aztec Empire.
The Nahuatl symbols of his name are found in the Mexican flag: Tetl, the rock, and Nochtli, the prickly pear cactus."
This being Wikipedia, there could be errors in this account. And I edited it a bit to smooth the awkward grammar.
Now this is funny. I re-read my Tenoch comment and noticed that I'd forgotten to put Falco at the top.
Then I noticed that Juanita put sin-senos3 atop her Falco comments. Co-jefas in crime!
[Yikes, I just read what novelera said about the labels! I decided to delete my mis-labeled postings and repost them with the correct label. And I've added my comment thanking novelera for the info re the name Tenoch, rather than having it in a separate message.]
novelera, I hope you didn't think I was unhappy because you didn't include the details of the scene where Falco interviews the daughter. ¡Para nada! I was delighted and very impressed with your recap, which covered a number of things I had missed, not just what I mentioned. I went on about the interview scene because I had been so confused about it until I went back and realized that I'd totally overlooked Falco's reply to TC's offer of condolences. The fault was totally mine.
I think you're right about it being a boxing match. I'd recently watched some of the World Cup games, and in one of them a commentator referred to one of the players more than once as a luchador. But, of course, the word means boxer, even though it apparently can be used more generally to indicate that someone is a fighter, one who battles hard against his opponents. In hindsight, I think it's more likely that what Falco was describing was a boxing match.
I also want to thank you for looking into Tenoch's name. I too had never come upon a chracter named Tenoch before. I found what you uncovered in Wikipedia very interesting. ¡Muchas gracias!
terrific recap novelera!
the english captions weren't working and the spanish ones were quick, so you recap colored in all of the twists and turns, thanks!
interesting stuff on Tenoch too!
Thanks, Novelera. The episode was tough for me to follow, with key stuff revealed in bits. But that's right, this is a mystery TN.
I too think Falco's made up the story about his father and brother to draw the kid out. I'm thinking he never had a brother.
Falco was so wrong going off on his wife's husband, but then she could've told him beforehand she married someone on the force. Wondering what kind of stepdad the husband was to Falco's daughter.
It appears Tenoch has no friends and is coddled by his mother. When he and Falco came across the men's girlie magazine, Tenoch seemed uncomfortable? embarrassed? ITA it's going to be interesting how these two help each other emotionally.
Loving the culture shock stuff. Falco bewildered by the coffee vending machine and the cell phone.
Falco and his dad at a burger joint too cute.
