Mi marido tiene más familia Friday 10/5/18 Capítulo 18 The Little Boy Who Couldn't Say NO

Imelda has told her sons she needs to talk to them all tomorrow. Eugenio is worried. What could it be?

Hugo talks to his wife about starting yet another business because he is worried they will have to move back in with Catalina. A retro movie rental business? Real ponies to rent and ride at the shopping mall? She doesn't like those ideas but agrees that he better come up with something.

Daniela and Blanca are out together. Daniela voices her concerns about her marriage. She feels like they are on a rollercoaster. Blanca finds it normal especially in her case. She has always been independent and didn't need a man. Blanca adds that love changes everything. Daniela is afraid that Gabriel feels trapped. He wants everyday to be like a theater production. He never quiets down. Blanca says that marriage is not a fairy tale. There is a certain routine to it. Daniela says she tries to help Gabriel but he is bored with everything. Blanca compares marriage to two plants growing together. Each has leaves but also has thorns so you have to learn to accommodate the other person an they do you. Daniela realizes that she and Gabriel married very quickly. lanca tells her that you never ever finish getting to know your partner. The key is to be with somebody you want to continue to know more about. Daniela says they are trying to get the spark back. Blanca informs her that the "sparks" stop and that is why you need to build a solid foundation for your marriage. Gabriel has to grow up and Daniela has to give him the time to do it. You solve crises with maturity. Blanca informs her that her dad has been having a rough time as of late. He is tired, depressed and so nostalgic about his father. Blanca and Daniela walk home. Daniela asks Blanca how she solves problems like those she has had with her father. Blanca starts out saying it is not easy but sometimes you have to make a difficult decision to benefit both of you. Blanca tells her about the separate bedrooms.

Gabriel voices his concerns about his marriage to Julieta and describes it as monotonous. She says she hates to tell him but she told him so. Day to day life makes him feel boxed in and trapped. He and Daniela are different; not boring like everybody else. He does not want to lose himself in the everyday world to a routine. Julieta points out to him that all of those daily chores he finds boring are what everybody has to do. Julieta asks what makes him feel free. "Riding his motorcycle "is his answer. Julieta asks him if wants to stay married. Yes, because he loves Daniela. Julieta thinks that he has to find something he is passionate about. He then brings up wanting kids. Julieta informs him that now is not the time if he is not feeling complete within himself. Kids are only going to make things worse.

Robert tells Julieta what Canuto asked him to do. Julieta asks him why he can never say no. He answers that they are family. He has this need to help them if he can. Julieta does not understand why he cannot think of her and their children, of their own family. He never should have agreed. Julieta expresses that she is overwhelmed because now Susana is always going to be a part of their lives. Robert insists that he just could not deny poor ill Canuto this opportunity. Julieta thinks that Robert is making the decision for everybody. Do the families even want to get together? Julieta does not see her point of view as being extreme as immature. She has always been straight with Robert. Dealing with his family has never been easy and now after what he has promised to do, it is just going to get worse. What happens when Susana finds out the truth about her father? What about Dave? Robert has no time as it is. What about Imelda and Crisanta who are business rivals that hate each other already? Julieta cannot support him on this decision. Suddenly, David is up with a tummy ache. He had some atole de nopal(a hot drink made with corn meal, cactus juice, cinnamon, brown sugar and vanilla) at his grandma's house. Julieta didn't even know that drink existed. Blanquita is all gassy, too. Robert gives the children an anise drink to calm their stomachs. Dave insists that Blanca is not to blame. He liked how it tasted. Julieta thinks it it is just a very strange thing to give to a child but that will not be a problem in the future. Julieta believes that the monitors will solve it all.

Canuto talks to Susana and finally tells her about having had another family. She is shocked. When he sees her reaction, he says that her reaction is exactly why he didn't want to tell her. He admits to not having told Crisanta. Susana says the first surprise was the diabetes diagnosis and now it is another woman. Yes, he admits to having been married with three children before he met her mother. Canuto cannot explain what happened. Susana has nothing to say because Canuto was the only man she ever knew that she could believe in. What should she do? How could he betray them? What about her mother? She doesn't want to listen to him anymore and leaves the room upset. She runs into Axel who asks "Susana" if everything is okay after seeing her expression. She just walks away. Canuto talks to Axel all upset about Susana's reaction when he told her the truth. Axel says Canuto has to tell all of the truth to everyone. Canuto is also worried what is going to happen to his family. Axel will talk to Susana. He is on Canuto's side.

Susana looks at the photo of her "family" and dials up Pancho who is thinking about his wife. She needs to talk to him in person and wants his advice. He cannot meet her tonight because he is home with his children but they can talk tomorrow.

Eugenio is upset when he tells Blanca that Imelda wants to see all three of her sons tomorrow morning because she wants to tell them the "whole truth."

Gabriel had perked up earlier in the day thinking about riding his motorcycle and tonight he is "sleep riding" his motorcycle. He wakes up Daniela. Somehow Axel is involved in his dream drama.

It is late when Canuto comes into his bedroom. Crisanta looks at him and knows when her husband is hiding something from her. For the tenth time, she is warning him that it won't be good if she catches him involved in making any "moves" out there. If she does, she will take him to the sea and throw him to the wind.

The next morning the three brothers are at the bakery waiting to talk to Imelda. Nobody knows why. Audifaz says that the only thing that they know for sure is that she is very upset. (Surprise!) Canuto just happens to drop by. They are all happy to see him. He feels like he is part of them. Audifaz notices that Canuto doesn't look too happy. His answer is that just yesterday he told his daughter that he had diabetes. Eugenio sees it this way: when the family knows their "secrets" it is easier for them to help out. In a low voice, Audi informs him that it seems like their mother is going to confess something like that to them. Canuto looks stricken.

Robert is at the hospital telling Gabi and her mother that the foundation will cover all cost of her burn treatment. She is forever grateful. Unfortunately, Robert then gets news from Tavo that the funds from the foundation to the hospital have stopped. Robert tells Tavo they need a meeting.

Julieta is busy watching Blanca and giving directions over the baby monitor. Catalina comes to visit and calls Julieta abnormal and more unaware of the baby monitor. Catalina adds that Julieta is a real controller. Blanca points out the baby monitor. Blanca reminds Catalina that Julieta is HER daughter. Nobody cares that Julieta can hear. Blanca adds that if the children are with her it is because Julieta trusts her. Catalina tells Julieta that she should have known that her decision was going to cause problems. Catalina has rights, too. Julieta tells her to go home. Blanca has a good saying for this situation: One has to know how to lose. Well for there to be winners and losers, Catalina wants to have a competition with Blanca to decide who the best grandmother is. Julieta tells Catalina there will be no competition. Blanca is not interested. Catalina cuts Julieta out of the situation by covering up the monitor with a blanket and goes to work trying to convince Blanca.

Axel goes to see Susana in her office. She finds out that Canuto told him before he told her about his other family. Axel says it was Canuto's place to tell her not him. Axel does not want to fail Canuto. Canuto is not well so they have to support him. They can all get together and face the situation united together. Susana says yes, they will be united in a lie. When Susana gets upset, he tells her to calm down because they have to solve this problem in the most mature way possible. All Susana can think about is how this will affect her mother and how horrible it will be for her. Does Axel know any of the other Córcega's? She has to ask once again before Axel admits  that she has three half-bothers who are much older than she. He then asks "just being honest" what it matters if she knows about them or not if she has never bothered to connect with her own family? Susana has to ask if Axel expects her to celebrate her father.  No, he is only asking that Susana think about what she is going to do for the good of all.

Imelda comes to the hospital to ask for Robert's support.Robert tries to give Imelda a pep talk before her talking to her sons. He tells her the force is within her. She begs Robert to be there when she tells them. He would rather not, but agrees in the end to do it for her.

Robert just cannot say no to anyone in his family. I feel sorry for him. Julieta was right on this one.

Canuto better be careful and grateful that they are not living seaside because it sounds like Crisanta could put him to sleep with the fishies.

A grandma competition? That could be fun.

More this weekend.

Boy, every five minutes a new crisis in this one. I agree that easy going, well meaning Robert can't say "no" to his family, but that is precisely why Julieta chose him, I think. Because he can't say "no" to her either. The flexibility that attracted her is exactly what causes the problems when it involves other people...family, colleagues etc.

I'm looking forward to seeing Pancho smooth off Susana's rough edges. That strikes me as more fun to watch than a grandma competition (being a grandma and all).

Thanks so much Jarifa. Great recap as always.

Juls is exaggerating with that camera. its almost as bad as when she brought mini Blanche to work. Still wondering how she got any work done at Cklass cause she spends most of her time there watching her kids. She should just be parttime. Also, if she's at work, she can't watch the cameras the entire time. So blanche can still give the kids "strange food" or teach them strange customs and julie wouldn't catch it in time. Deep down Juls thinks the corsegas are lower class, which adds to their weirdness in her eyes. The snob in julie often comes out when she's interacting with them.

Atol isn't bad for kids, but julie's kids just aren't used to drinking that stuff. And thw worst possible thing you can do right after drinking atol is drinking water. It bloats you crazy and causes some serious stomach pains. Same thing goes for roasted corn on the cob.

Ditto judyb on why julie chose rob as her mate. She knew she would get away with so much, and rob possibly didn't realize she's emotionally immature. He should have set boundaries from the start. Julie needs to realize his family is important to him, and unfortunately she can't keep him all to herself. She needs a shrink.

Jarifa, thank you for this fun recap. I should be able to catch up on things over the weekend.

"Riding his motorcycle "is his answer. Hmmm... I must have missed all the scenes of Gabriel and his motorcycle.

I'm looking forward to seeing Pancho smooth off Susana's rough edges. That strikes me as as much fun to watch as a grandma competition (not being a grandma and all).
(apologies to JudyB :)

:-)

Thank you for your recap Jarifa!

I really do not remember gab being into motorcycles in season 1. I recall he had a car, red?, that got wrecked when Dani crashed into him. Or maybe my telenovelas are getting mixed up. 😳

Thanks, Jarifa. I didn't see this episode but feel like I was right there. The scene with Catalina and Blanca dissing Julieta as she listens from the baby monitor sounds hilarious. Sorry I missed it.

Thank you, Jarifa!

So much for Julieta's argument that she wants the monitors because she just wants to feel close to her kids...bunch of baloney!

JudyB, great point on why Julieta chose to be with Robert.

The scene where Gabe was "sleep riding" a motorcycle on top of the bed was hilarious. Just to add to that sleep riding scene, Gabe was racing against Axel and it seems Gabe won :-) I do hopeo that when he was looking at motorcycles earlier, he also thought about how they didn't have money to buy it.

Doris, yes, Gabe had a small red car in Season 1...and it did get crashed.

Happy Week-end, Patio!

Jarifa, another incredible outing starting with "The Little Boy Who Coudn't say NO".

So sorry to be so late.

Robert's pain over his abduction and separation from his family (his agony as well as theirs) if the crux of these novelas. Instead of hardening hs heart, it opened it. From becoming a doctor to save others, to being the family mediator so they can save themselves. He harbors no malice, no ill regard. He forgave Ana and Tulio. He feels compelled to fix it, to make it right.

I do belive Julieta chose Robert as he keeps her grounded with his calm and reasonable demeanor. Her harsh treatment by Catalina is part of why she wears her assuredness and righteousness like a badge of honor. Robert reminds her she has a heart and urges her to use it with kindness.

"Day to day life makes him feel boxed in and trapped". The cry of the human race Gabe.

"He then brings up wanting kids". Yes, that is great Gabe. You feel trapped now? Get a grip.

"Canuto is also worried what is going to happen to his family". Really? Aren't you half a century too late??

doris, I think the only reason Gabe is on the motorcycle kick is because Axel has one. His eyes shone as bright as a child on Christmas morning.

Again, my least favorite scene involves Axel. Seeing his mother crushed and calling her Susana and really offering no comfort, just the cold hard facts.

And I also am looking forward to Pancho "smoothing out Susana's rough edges" Judy.

Thanks Jarifa. Just terrific.

Diana, you never cease to amaze me. What an excellent and astute interpretation of Robert and Julieta!

Thank you for your kind words Rgv Chick. You always make all of us feel so valued.

Diana

“ What an excellent and astute interpretation of Robert and Julieta!”. I agree, along with
Diana’s comments about Gabe and Canuto.

Enjoyed reading all the comments and sensitive analysis of the relationships. Was at a workshop on listening skills at church all day yesterday and was reminded of how well we "listen" to each other on this patio. Have a great day CarayCarayers!

Greetings, everyone! I just got home from being out of town this weekend. It was a wonderful time catching up with a good friend. Plenty of good talk, good laughs and good food!

ITA with everyone about Diana’ s subtle analysis of the characters. Diana, you have a gift in the way you are able to express yourself in thought and word.

We do have a very special patio! 😊

Off topic

I do miss Carlos and his view on female antagonists. I pray he is resting in peace.

I haven't heard from Vivi lately either.

Margaret

O/T Yes, I agree about Carlos and then also dear Madeline.

A lot of our Carayers seem to be MIA these days.

Margaret and Jarifa, both Carlos and Madeline are greatly missed. They had such an effect on us - their voices still ring in our hearts.

And yes, our little group seems to be shrinking. I'm grateful for those still here and for our camraderie.

Diana

Diana, I sure agree.
