Ok, this is the episode in which Diego is a complete jerk the whole way through.
Friday: Fernanda tells Diego how she protected him by letting Disgusto get away with keeping all the money. Circe again tells Felipa she’ll make Diego forget the “egg without salt” (Isa). We see Joselito, Topo and Disgusto escape from the Colombians. But Disgusto is wounded and kindly Joselito leaves him to die. Marlene listens to the recording where Disgusto talks about shooting Ramiro.
On some random street, bleeding, Disgusto has some visits from la más allá; that is, Ramiro the dead attorney general and Eliseo.
Diego shows up at Marlene’s apartment where Marlene, Isabel, and Zoraida look increasingly unhappy with his behavior. He accuses Isa of lying to him by not telling him Disgusto was in D.F; insults Zoraida, and tells Marlene that this fine apartment came from his family’s money.
Topo and Joselito, bleeding and a lot the worse for wear, appear to have gotten away. Joselito says he needs to leave Mexico. Topo mentions the contacts in Costa Rica.
Some kids find Disgusto and think he’s dead. But no such luck. We see him on a stretcher being placed in an ambulance.
Jota Jota offers his warehouse to Circe, but she refuses.
Fernanda goes to visit Salas to tell him about her conversation with Diego. He’s miffed because she excluded him, but gets over it and offers to help find Diego.
Joselito bleaches his hair blonde, but leaves his black beard and mustache. He’s gotten a nice clean shirt and some cool sunglasses. Topo tells him that the Costa Ricans have a plane waiting for him in Toluca. But, of course, Topo has to risk his life staying in Mexico protecting Joselito’s interests.
Nuria is with Paloma in a hospital where she’s to have surgery to remove the placenta of the false pregnancy. Now Paloma is crying, saying she didn’t want the baby and now she’s sad it’s gone.
Deivid gives Chucho a cynical talk about how people are over the moon when they’re first in love, but things cool off. He says that Chucho and Diana went too fast living together right away.
Later Diana asks Gabriela in what filling station Chucho is working. Gaby looks shocked, but doesn’t tell Diana anything.
There’s one false alarm when Marlene and Isa come to identify a corpse; not Disgusto.
Circe comes to tell Jim that she’s now in charge. The Gaona cartel owned Babel, and she’s the last one standing. She tells him there will be no more prostitution. He’s completely in charge of the show with the women dancing. She only wants two things of him: that he let her launder money there and that she keep her drugs in his warehouse.
Rotten Ramona has gotten some kind of industrial strength speed for Nuria – at least I think it’s speed and not poison.
Fernanda and Salas come to Diego’s apartment and he’s totally rude and awful to his mother. [Hey, Diego, I’m the mother of a grown son; and, if I see you, I’ll slap you into next week!]
Mateo tells Piochas that the way to save Gavino’s hide is for Disgusto to testify that Gavino isn’t capable of killing Eliseo. [What? So Gavino is the only cartel boss in Mexico who goes to mass every day and never shoots anybody?]
Joselito calls Mateo and tells him that the trafficking in girls needs to stop until he gets back and, now the cartel is in trouble, the law might be coming for Mateo. [This also doesn’t make much sense to me.]
Circe is furious when she finds out her sharp shootin’ women have been chained up at Babel. They all say they’re with her, even though she offers to let them go to Sonora and resume their lives.
Ramona has another paid encounter with Erick. This has a high ick factor for me.
Circe tells the girls to bring the merchandise from a van. I was confused by this at first, and then I remembered that Joselito gave up some location during torture.
Mateo nervously asks one of his police officers if anything unusual has happened. When he hears all is well, he asks the guy to contact the guy he knows in D.F. and see if Porfirio has been admitted to hospital recently.
JJ tells Circe that a sapito (diminutive of sapo, or frog, common usage for a person who is a snitch or informer) told him that José is going to fly out of Toluca. She then calls Diego.
Marlene finds Disgusto. They have to operate.
Blondie shows up in Toluca in a shiny red pickup. But Circe, Diego, JJ, Deivid, and some disposable thugs are right behind him. [Thank God, no Chucho!] Big firefight. But, as usual, the bullets fly and none of the main characters get shot. Joselito manages to get outside and flies off into the wild blue yonder.
Gavino’s lawyer tells him the bribes have paid off. He’s going to have an audience with a judge, the first of several. [Wow, Mexican jurisprudence is odd!] The lawyer says, if he’s going to get off for killing Eliseo, he has to come up with someone else to have done it. But Gavino won’t give up Circe, even to his lawyer. He has other plans for her; his own revenge, presumably.
Thanks very much, novelera, for this fine recap. I enjoyed your threat to Diego as the mother of a son. I too am the mother of a son, and I'd be happy to join you in slapping Diego.
As for Joselito, does he really think dyeing his hair will prevent people from recognizing him? Or perhaps he's just trying to be stylish--I noticed that his new shirt, with its gold and black design, matches his face's new color scheme, with his blond hair and pasted-on black mustache and beard.
I also am mystified by José's telling Mateo that because business is falling, people are going to come after Mateo.
Another thing I didn't understand was Marlene's hesitation when the doctor said she'd have to sign an authorization for them to operate on Disgusto. She turns to Isa and says she doesn't know what to do. My guess is that she hesitates because she now knows what a [bleep] he is, but I'm not at all sure.
"Betty in New York" began production at Telemundo's new studio in Miami.

thank you so much novelera, another wonderful recap!
this show is wearing me down especially after watching "La Sultana" every night (which is spectacular) but at least there were a few attempts at humor last night, like when Disgusto is talking to his dead friends, "why doesn't anyone ever believe what I say?" and Deivid's comparison of love to cooking where Chucho says "your making me hungry" and of course Joselito's masterful disguise, did he fool anyone?
I'm curious who tipped JJ on Jose heading to the airport, could it have been Topo?
I imagine Paloma's operation was the same as a real abortion, she sure was treating it like it was, I wonder if Jim will think it was.
Ramona sure is despicable, she's going to get Nuria hooked on drugs and destroy her, she was also disappointed that she couldn't do the slave girl thing again at Babel.
and we got a reminder of how Felipa is using Circe to get back at Gavino, and it sounds like he will be out shortly, not sure how he can get Disgusto patched up in time to help.
and if Diego is cranky now, wait till he finds out Circe killed Eliseo, close call that Gavino's lawyer wanted to make that public.
Mateo has reason to be worried. Now that JoseLITO has no control over Babel and Circe released the newer girls and allowed them to go back to Sonora, they can turn in Mateo...and off to jail he goes!
I read the recap and comments before watching the show...and I was still in shock when I saw JoseLITO with his new "look." Juanita, you're so right; his shirt does go perfectly well with his face!
I join those that are confused with Marlene's hesitation to sign the authorization. I'm also wondering why she would even want to look for him now that she finally knows who and what he is. The hesitation might be because the doctor told them that Disgusto would die if he didn't have the operation, but he is so weak that he might not be able to withstand the operation and die anyway.
Does anyone think that Paloma might not tell Jim about not being pregnant and maybe fake a pregnancy? I got that idea from the way she was talking about getting her hopes up with all the attention and concern Jim was showing for her after she told him she was pregnant.
I was up a bit late recapping Amar yesterday, so I haven't watched the episode yet. Like Rgv, I've read the recap carefully and will be off to watch soon. Can't wait to see JoseLITO's new "luke." Thank you, novelera for all the details. Can't wait to see what happens to Disgusto, though undoubtedly he'll live, probably until near the end of the story (he's paid too much for his services to telenovelaland).
Rgv--Paloma is going to milk the non-pregnant-pregnancy for everything she can. After all, she still carries a torch for Jim and was hatefully jealous of the attention he was paying to Isabel when she first started coming around. And, even though he doesn't feel the same way, told her what they had was OVER, and that roll in the bed was just sex, it wasn't for her. She sees a glimmer of hope and what better way to get him back than with the promise of a happy family.
So...what's the use of a ghostly visitor if he can't tell who killed him? Eliseo could have ratted out Circe to Disgusto, but he did not.
novelera, Eliseo probably knew that Circe had already ratted herself out to Disgusto, so there was no need for Eliseo to waste breath he no longer had. :-)
I expect to do some sort of recap of tonight's episode. Between all the station's bleeps and all my mental bleeps, there will probably be lots of holes.
Thanks, Novelera. Catching up after a week away. Enjoying all the comments.
Count me in on slapping Diego silly. Yes, Disgusto ran roughshod over his mom, but teaming with Circe to go kill Dissy and winding up in a shootout with Blondie is just dumb. I don't see Diego as a badass. Up till now, I thought he had more sense than brawn.
Paloma's medical condition is a new one on me. Rgv Chick and Anita, ITA Paloma is going to milk this to reel in Jim. Sorry Isa confided in her because I just don't trust her.
Talk about mental bleeps! I had forgotten that Disgusto knew who killed Eliseo! Thanks, Juanita!
Joselito has escaped in a small airplane, leaving several people dead and Diego, Circe, JJ, and the others frustrated. Diego wants to go after Joselito in Costa Rica, but JJ says no. JJ has a deal with the Costa Ricans--he doesn't touch Costa Rica, and the Costa Ricans don't touch Colombia.
Marlene and Isa are at the hospital where Augusto has been brought in grave condition, beaten up and shot in the chest. As his prometida, Marlene has been asked to sign an authorization to operate. Without the operation, he'll die. She's in a quandary: if he lives, what's going to happen with them, given all that she now knows? Isa tells her that she should sign the paper and then leave the outcome to God. Marlene signs. Isa then asks the doctor whether Marlene can have a few moments alone with Augusto before the operation. The doctor agrees. Isa asks Marlene whether she should tell Fernanda about Augusto. Marlene says she has to know he's here; tell her.
Alone with Augusto, Marlene berates him for all his lies and deceptions. She tells him that he can't die because she needs answers. "Did you ever love me?"
A very obese woman comes to the bar where Erick works at Babel. She admires the elegant decor. He tells her they're closed. She tells him she's looking for her daughter, who works there: Nuriam. Nuria sees her,and her mother greets her as Nuriam. Nuria insists that's not a real name. Her mother tells her is is, she read it in an Arabic book. The mother then comments on how thin Nuria is and that she's not eating enough. (That's clearly not a problem the mother shares.) The mother then asks Erick if he's her son-on-law. Humoring her, he says he is, and she then tells him she wants more food, and if I understood her correctly, she expects him to pay for it. He agrees. Perhaps we're intended to conclude that Nuria's obsession with being thin stems from her mother's obesity, but I found myself uncomfortable with the mother's being portrayed as an object of ridicule.
There's no love lost between Zoraida and Porfirio. Zoraida tells him that Isa claims he has changed, but Zoraida sees in him "the same patán as always." Zoraida then leaves the room. Amanda and Porfirio talk. She asks him how old he was when he fell in love with her mother. He gets a star-struck look on his face as he tells her he was about 15. She then asks how old her mother was when she fell in love with him. "I can see it as if it were yesterday," he tells her. "She too was about 15." He then wants to know whether Amanda is in love, perhaps with that boy who came to the house. She denies it, but she then remembers the awkward kiss the boy gave her. As Porfirio is leaving, he tells Amanda "Falling in love with your mother was the best thing in my life."
Fernanda comes to the hospital to see Augusto. The doctor tells her and Marlene that the operation is over, but it will be 72 hours before they'll know whether he'll make it. However, the prognosis is favorable. The doctor says Augusto will awaken from the anesthesia in about two hours. The doctor asks who should be called when that happens. Both Fernanda and Marlene say it shouldn't be them. Marlene finally says, "Señor Orozco no long has any family."
Ramona and Felipa have an interesting talk. Ramona asks Felipa how she could love someone who has done her so much harm. "Do you still love him?" she asks. Felipa asks who she's talking about. "My sister told me everything," Ramona replies. "She always looked the other way (ella siempre se hizo de la vista gorda), but she knew that Gavino was abusing you since you were a young girl." Felipa asks her not to tell Circe.
One of the police officers who work for Mateo tells him that Porfirio has been in a hospital in Mexico City. Mateo is surprised: "So my son didn't lie to me."
As Mateo is talking to the officer, a man and a woman come into the station and stare at Mateo. Mateo asks the officer who they are. He's told they're the parents of a young woman who disappeared a while ago. They're not resigned. [They're Lourdes' parents, one of the women Mateo kidnapped and sold.]
Marlene asks Fernanda's forgiveness for all the pain Marlene has caused her. "Each of us gets what we deserve, I suppose," replies Fernanda.
Felipa is reading her cards and remembering Gavino coming to her parents' house when she was an adolescent. Gavino apparently wants her father's land, but her father doesn't want to give it to him. He says the law is on his side, the law will protect him. Taking out his gun, Gavino replies, "I am the only law" and kills the father. He orders his men to bring the screaming girl (Felipa) to him. He assures her that he'll take care of her and then nods to one of his men, who shoots the mother.
Diego tells Circe that he's proud of her for freeing the girls. She asks for a little reward, and they kiss, etc.
Mateo is worried. Now that the enslaved waitress/prostitutes have been freed, they'll return to Alamos and denounce him. He decides it's best if he disappears for a while. Also, he wants to see how his son is. Piochas tells him not to worry about the freed girls. They're probably too scared to do anything.
Zoraida hears a knock at the door. She opens it to find the aunt of Emiliano Guevara, who claims to be a friend and neighbor of "Camila," and wants to come in to see her. Zoraida tells her she's at work, and the woman can't come in. The woman also asks about Max. Zoraida makes it clear that she can't come in, and the woman says she'll be back. She leaves and gets into a waiting car. She tells the man in the car [the investigator, I think] about her conversation. "So where is the real Camila?" she asks. "And her son?" The man observes that the woman claiming to be Camila is using a false identity, but it's not clear what's happened to Emiliano. "We have to keep looking," he tells her.
Marlene announces to the other dancers that yes, she's found Augusto, but he's no longer her novio. He's in the hospital, with a gunshot in the chest. "I can't believe I've spent so much time with a man it turns out I hardly know."
Augusto wakes up from the anesthesia and immediately wants to leave. "They're going to kill me," he claims. The doctor tells him that the hospital is a secure place and that "his woman" was here but has already left.
Felipa and Ramona continue their discussion. Ramona claims that Felipa hated her (Ramona's) sister. Felipa denies this, and has another memory. Gavino's wife is in bed and in pain. "Help me die, Felipa" she pleads. "I can't stand the pain. Give me some herbs that will help me die." Felipa tells her that Circe and Gavino need her, she can't die. The wife replies that Circe will have Felipa, and as for Gavino, once she's dead, Felipa will have the opportunity she's been wanting. Felipa tells her "I don't want you to die." The wife replies, "Wanting my husband is the same thing."
Circe and Diego are in bed at night. Suddenly, there's a banging at the door. It's Deivid. He has talked to Gabriela, who mentioned that Marlene said Augusto is in the hospital. Deivid gives the address to Diego. Circe tries to dissuade Diego from going to the hospital. Though of course she doesn't say this, she's worried that Augusto will tell Diego that she killed Eliseo. She can't convince Diego not to go. As soon as he leaves, she calls Felipa. She tells Felipa she'd prefer Diego to die rather than know the truth. Felipa talks to Ramona, who doesn't seem to share Felipa's concern about Circe.
At Babel, the dancers put on a show that again includes Porfirio playing guitar. The performance is a great success. (And I again ask how Porfirio can exert himself so strongly in the performance and not collapse.) Circe is at the performance and sees Isabel among the dancers, looking very sexy.
At the hospital, Augusto is giving his false account of what happened to a policeman. According to Augusto, four men forced him to get out of his car. They wore hoods, so he couldn't see who they were. They put a hood over his head. They wanted money. Finally, when they were distracted, he managed to escape. He told the policeman he's afraid they'll come after him.
Fernanda tells Solas that seeing Augusto alone in the hospital bed, she had a new realization. Augusto is without her, and without Marlene. "I used to think that he brought disgrace on me, but now I realize that life saved me from him. I realized that I'm a good person, better than he made me believe. I realize that I won."
Isabel comes to see Circe in the office at Babel. She thanks her for freeing the women, and for what she did for Isabel. "You could have reported me (me pudiste haber delatado), but you didn't." Circe tells her she did it for Diego. She makes it clear to Isabel that she, Circe, is now with Diego forever. Isabel shouldn't mess with that relationship; she should stay with her husband and children.
The doctor stops by to see how Augusto is feeling. He tells him that someone is here to see him. "My woman?" asks Augusto. "No, your stepson (hijastro)," and in walks Diego. Diego asks how he's doing, and proceeds to strike him all over his body, causing great pain. He finally lets up, telling Augusto that he isn't going to kill him now, he'll wait. Augusto replies: "You're sleeping with your worst enemy and you don't even realize it." End of episode.
Juanita--Did you have the original script in front of you when you wrote the recap? Not a single mental bleep noticeable. Terrific detail. Thank you.
BTW I don't think anyone who knew Joselito "before" would not recognize him in his "after" change. He might have done better by shaving his head, but maybe that was in his contract--yellow yes, shaved no. Actually I kind of like it that way. Too bad he's off to Costa Rica for awhile.
Diego does have serious problems with his temper. Are they trying to make him out to be a narco with a heart of gold, who doesn't actually kill anyone, but merely yells, screams, threatens and puts people down?
That love story about Isa and Porfi as 15 year-olds falling in love didn't ring right. As I recall Isa was 15. She fell in love with El Corona at one of his concerts. But could he have already been a famous star at 15? I was under the impression he was older. Anyway, he lost his touch, but now he's back doing rock concerts in a cabaret? Puleeze. Gimmie a Break. His audition was pathetic and even his solo guitar work was under-par (and not in a golf way). Is he still playing his acoustic guitar or has he switched to electric--I failed to notice that detail in the dimmed light and shadowy figure on stage.
that was a terrific recap Juanita!
not much to add,
after Amanda's chat with Porfi, learning that they fell in love at 15, did she do a little sigh, a couple more years for her, cute!
Felipa's advice to Circe, when she feared Disgusto would spill on Eliseo's death, was to grab her things and move to Babel, so I guess the honeymoon's over.
Felipa's backstory was interesting, that Gavino was the only man she has ever been with, who killed both her parents and took her as a young girl, but she seemed to know her place and may have helped Circe's mom die, but only at her insistence.
Anita, thanks for your great comments. I too thought that Porfi was older than Isa when they met. I suppose there may be rock stars who are well known by age 15, but I had the feeling that Isa fell in love with someone a bit older than she. Then again, perhaps Porfi doesn't really remember how old he was, just that he was in LUUUUUUV.
Speaking about love, I see that I failed to include something Felipa said to Ramona about her feelings for Gavino. When Ramona asked her how she could love someone who had done her so much harm, Felipa replied, "I had no man before or after him. How would I have known about love?" (Or something like that. My notes are a mess.)
I too have been wondering where the writers are going with Diego. The more violent and pig-headed he is, the more I fear that he may not make it to the end of the novela. Shades of Rodrigo in Bajo el mismo cielo. Hmm...perhaps Luis Ernesto Franco has a clause in his contract that stipulates that he dies? (I never watched Señora Acero, but I think he was in that one, too, and that in the previous season, he was killed off.) I hope this time he survives.
Thanks very much, deb, for your important additions. As you may be able to tell, I posted my previous message without having seen yours.
Yes, Felipa's advice to Circe was to get away, and fast. My guess is that Circe won't take that advice. She's as hopelessly fixated on Diego as Joselito was on her.
novela without them. AnonGringa
AnonGringa- I have had good luck in the past with captioning issues by going directly to Telemundo,
Captioning@telemundo.com
(this email and a phone number are the last captions shown on a show)
AnonGringa, I am delighted to know that my recap helped. Believe me, as someone dependent on the Spanish captions, I understand all too well what it's like to be without them. I know that deb has had a good deal of experience dealing with the English captions. I hope her advice proves helpful.
That was a splendid recap, Juanita! You got it all and with excellent Spanish included.
I am also nervous about Diego's consistent swerve to the bad side. He doesn't seem to have any plans to stop the drug running. He's cruel to his mother every time he sees her. And he's not putting up any resistance to bedding Circe on a regular basis. This does not seem like "galán ends up with the heroine" behavior to me.
Of course, I felt deep sympathy for Augusto when Diego was pushing on his surgical areas...NOT!
Circe, what a prize you are! She'd rather the man she loved die than find out she killed his brother.
It must be nice to be Police Chief in Álamos. You just tell them you need some time off and leave the state.
I feel fairly confident that our cliffhanger about Augusto telling Diego who killed his brother will fizzle out. After so many years of telenovela watching, I can smell a false hope from a mile away!
I also was dumbfounded by the writers coming up with Porfirio and Isabel having been the same age when they met. They showed a flashback scene early on with Isa in pigtails or some such device to make her look much younger. She was in the back of a club where Porfi, looking like an adult, was the headliner of a band.
I will definitely check out the phone number and email address Thank you again. Anon Gringa
AnonGringa- the last couple of times I watched this show at telemundo.com the captions for all 5 segments where in english, well sometimes they were in spanish but if I turned the captioning off, then back on, they were now in english.
Here are some things I remember about last night's episode:
After striking the helpless Disgusto repeatedly in his hospital bed, Diego calmly leaves as hospital personnel rush into the room. As he leaves, Diego tells them that he and Disgusto were talking when suddenly Disgusto went crazy and started to flail around and disconnect all kinds of wires.
Isabel and Circe shake hands on an agreement not to mess with each other's life.
Fernanda pleads with Salas not to leave. She tells him she doesn't know how she feels about him. She'd like to find out whether it's just friendship or something more.
Porfirio gets a call from Mateo, who has come to Mexico City.
Diego returns from "visiting" Disgusto. Circe asks, "Did Disgusto say anything?"
Diego tells Circe he wants to visit Eliseo's grave. She asks if she can come with him, and he agrees.
Mateo comes to see Porfirio. Isabel is furious. She accuses Mateo of trafficking in women and insists that he leave her house and never return.
At Gavino's hearing before the judge (which is televised???), Gavino's lawyer blames José as head of the Gaona cartel.
As several folks here have already predicted, Paloma tells Jim that yes, she wants the baby and wants to be with Jim. She adds that the doctor has said they won't know for sure whether all is well until 12 weeks.
In response to Isabel's refusal to let Mateo come to her house or have anything to do with her children, Porfirio asks her "If one of our children became a delinquent, would you stop loving him/her?
Isa tells Porfirio that while she was in the hospital, Mateo threatened her.
Augusto informs the doctor that he and Marlene are going to be married. He asks the doctor to contact Marlene and tell her to come here. The doctor replies that he'd already spoken to her, but she doesn't want to come.
Margot Guevara, Emiliano Guevara's aunt, accosts Isabel, tells her she's been using a false identity, and that she can be imprisoned for six years.
I don't remember whether it's Felipa or Ramona who says this, but one of them (probably Felipa) points out to Circe that she has succeeded in becoming head of the cartel, she has wealth, she has Diego, what more does she want? Circe's reply: "I want to be happy."
Marlene asks Diana's forgiveness. She then goes to see Fernanda and gives her a piece of paper--a check for the money Disgusto stole from her (and put in Marlene's account to hide it from the divorce proceedings).
Isabel tells Salas about Margot Guevara's threat to have her imprisoned.
Juanita--thanks for the outline to hang the recap on. There's really not much to add.
But to expand--"While she [Isa] was in the hospital, Mateo threatened her." She was told not to file any charges or a restraining order. He tries to paint himself in a better light in front of his grandchildren by reminding her that he gave her (them) a place to live and food on the table and took care of Amanda when she went off with that tipo, ese. Later Porfi agrees he was a horrible parent, but he doesn't thing Mateo would do anything (like sell her into slavery) to Amanda. This isn't a spoiler, but just with this episode alone, I can see where this 4-way relationship is going. Porfirio will die a rehabilitated man for his children's sakes and Circe, Ramona and Felipa will die, maybe in some sort of explosion at Babel, leaving Isa and Diego to reconnect.
Margot got Ricas to admit he was Max when she approached him on the playground equipment in the park. Armed with that information, she accosted Isa. Interesting, even though she is Emil's American aunt, she called Max a grandson. (I rewound three times just to see if I had mis-heard--I didn't.) Is this normal in Spanish, if he is her great-nephew?
Deivid and Gabby canoodle in bed. She asks him if he thinks she could ask Jim to loan her the money to bring her sister to Mexico. Deivid has a sly smile on his face and treats her to another round. Of course, he's already made arrangements with someone. I sure hope this doesn't turn out to be a game on the sister's part to defraud Gabby and her friends out of money--her home country is in bad shape.
Fernanda is greeted at her place of work by another bouquet--with Salas sitting a little further back. He wants her to forget about the first bouquet; he wants to forget about being her employee; he wants her to forget about their earlier dinner and start over. Fernanda is softening. She says yes. I see hope for this relationship. Fernanda may want to PROVE she doesn't need a man to live a full life on her own, it's sure nice to have one to fix things around the house.
Chucho is doing the wrong thing with Diana. He won't let her cook, help with the dishes and won't let her do his laundry. Even though it something she may not be used to doing, she wants to feel a full partner in the relationship. He's still treating her like someone above him who needs to be served.
I'll be absent for a week and will have a lot to catch up with when I get back, so I probably won't be commenting for awhile. Keep the home fires warm, ok?
Anita, were you planning to do a recap? Had I known that, I wouldn't have posted what I did. My sincere apologies, if that's what happened.
Anyway, what you wrote was terrific! Both the events and the details you added gave a much fuller sense of what happened and why.
I tend to agree with your predictions here. Certainly, I think it's highly likely that Porfirio will die, though every now and then, when I contemplate the possibility of Diego going the way of Rodrigo in Bajo el mismo cielo, I think about Porfi surviving. As for Circe, Ramona, and Felipa, I think it's highly likely that Circe will die, and perhaps Ramona as well. I'm not sure about Felipa. She's had so much misery in her life, and I don't see that she's done anything terrible. But she may have nothing to live for if Circe dies, so.... Ramona, OTOH, was right in the middle of the human trafficking business. So yes, bye bye Ramona.
I also agree with what you've said about Chucho's behavior toward Diana. And some of the expressions on her face last night and in an earlier episode make me think she's having second thoughts about her decision to live with Chucho. I hope, though, that that can be worked out. Chucho is good-hearted and malleable.
And yup, it sure is good to have a man to fix things around the house. :-)
Hope you're going someplace fun for the week. We'll miss you.
Juanita--No, I wasn't going to do a recap. I'm only an occasional substitute and I would have let you know well in advance. You did a good job. I was only filling in some of the scenes I liked.
It was only a telenovela plot advancement to have Gavino's trial televised. It was the only way for Diego and Circe to learn what was going on. At least we saw some manner of procedure and decorum, not like in the fake LA Law some of us witnessed in Por Amar Sin Ley.
Poor Mateo, pounding the pavement. He has nowhere to stay, but he has more money than Porfi for a nicer place. He touched base with Piochas, scared that the freed slave girls would rat him out. Piochas thinks he's safe on that score. I think he told him to stay cool and when Gavino got out, everything would come back to normal (as in he can start trafficking girls again, I guess). Oh, and remember when Isa threatened to go to the police? He laughed at her. He's a sworn officer of the LAW. If it came to it, either they are all corrupt, or they would defer to another policeman.
Diego's visit to his brother's grave was poignant. He talked about seeing him again soon--and being reunited with his (real) father. Circe sure put on a good show.
Yup, NYC. It's always fun, even in winter. (I get to see THREE operas, ONE play, tours, museums, fine dining and the company of a good friend, my daughter and my DIL. Leave early tomorrow morning. Chau until I regreso.
Anita, thanks for letting me know I didn't horn in on your planned recap. And thanks, especially, for all the great stuff you supplied, both in the earlier message and the most recent one.
Wow, your trip to NYC sounds wonderful! Am I jealous!!
Have a great time, amiga.
