I was glad to see marina went to the party. She was beautiful as usual.
I was hoping that she would make an appearance while lino was singing. That way Alberto eyes would have went straight to her, and Every body else's.

He might want her I don't know I have to watch more of their inter actions. But the girl needs to stay off the sauce, it is not endearing alberto to her at all. I don't think he's interested anyway. He's just doin what daddy wants. I don't think

Item either. There is no Chemistry at all.
In the meantime lino is trying to protect marina, or he wants her for himself. I can understand protecting

Ep 5: Part 1– Partytime!

Previously—Marina confesses to Damiana that she felt her heart beat faster when she met Alberto.

At the main house, Angustias tells Pru that Damiana may have buried the baby at a nearby town to avoid suspicion. As they talk, El Don comes in and interrupts as he always does. He notes that they are always talking and as soon as he walks in they stop. After Angustias leaves, El Don caresses Pru and tells her she is beautiful (I would have cringed, but she played it cool).

Marina continues to tell Damiana that she had never felt the way she did with Beto. Damiana knew that Mariana would some day have those feelings, but Lino had always done a good job of keeping boys away from her. Damiana advises Marina that she and Beto are very different and she doesn’t think he would be suitable for her. Damiana also doesn’t think Marina should go to the party.

Don Luis asks Prudencia to wear her aquamarine earrings, but Prudencia tells him she forgot them…she didn’t think she needed them at the ranch. Before leaving, El Don puts his hand on her throat and warns her not to forget them again. El Don goes downstairs to find that Susana and Vanesa have arrived. When alone, Susana speaks with Prudencia about Alberto and tells her that he is seeing another woman. Pru laughs and thinks it’s funny since Alberto would not be able to find other woman like Vanessa. She assures Susana that Beto is only curious about the young girl.

Vanesa goes to the stables looking for her boyfriend. When Lino asks her who her boyfriend is, Snobby Van laughs and wonders if he really thinks she would be the girlfriend of a rancher. She also laughs at his name since she has a girl friend with the same name. When Lino snaps back, she demands that he respect her. As Snobby Van walks away, Beto rides up on his horse; so Snobby Van squeals with joy, “Surprise!”

Yolanda goes to visit Marina and invites her to the party. Marina shares that Alberto already beat her to it…he invited her to the party.

Marina is having a lesson with Isauro. As he questions her, Marina thinks about Beto and gives him a wrong answer. When she tells him that she was distracted, he scolds her and tells her she needs to be the best. He then tells her of her beauty. Marina would like to touch his face, but he refuses.

Yolanda tells Lino that she invited Marina to the party. He gets muy upset and storms off.

Marina is at home and thinks about wearing the plot earrings to the party. Damiana arrives and demands to know what she is doing with the earrings and tells her to take them off. Marina wonders why she can’t use them and where Damiana got them. Damiana responds that they belonged to Eulalia.
 

Ep 5: Part 2– Partytime!

Beto and Van are walking when they encounter Lino. Beto asks for an update on the party; so Lino tells them that there will be food, drink, music and songs typical of the region. After Van makes a snobbish remark and Lino leaves, Beto asks why she had to speak to Lino in such a way. Van refuses to worry about hurting a peon’s feelings. Beto explains that Lino and his family are very loyal to the Ocaranza family and they should be treated accrdongly. Van hopes she doesn’t have to deal with them and she does not want to return to the ranch after they are married. Beto makes it clear that he loves to be there.

Damiana continues her story about how she found the earrings in that house…so she assumes they belong to Eulalia. Marina thinks that then the earrings are her inheritance and asks to wear them to the party, but Damiana flat out refuses. She does, however, concede to allowing Marina go to the party….but only after she goes out to gather some herbs for her.

El Don and Susana sit on the couch together chatting and drinking. When he asks why she has never gotten married again, she replies that she has had some suitors, but she will never be able to find someone like him (Uh-oh!)

As Marina and Tori look for the herbs that Damiana needs, Marina worries that she isn’t going to make it to the party. When she mentions that she doesn’t have suitable clothes anyway, Tori gives her a bag with a dress and shoes for the party…Yolita sent them to her.

Angustias and Pru are in Pru’s bedroom talking when El Don comes in and tells Pru to hurry because the party is about to start.

Marina gets back home with the herbs and hears Damiana snoring. Once she is ready for the party, Tori suggests that he take her to the party and then he will return to the house so that when Damiana wakes up, he can tell her where Marina is.

El Don and company are getting ready to go over to the party. When Susana sees Pru, she wonders if Pru is really wearing THAT to the party (Yeah, Su, not everyone likes dressing like a skank!).

The party begins and Paulino welcomes the guests and introduces Beto. He then graces the guests with some songs. By the time he performs his third song, Vanessa gets drunk as a skunk and leaves the party. After a while Marina arrives looking radiant, and, of course, Beto is mesmerized by her beauty and asks her to dance with him. Neither one knows how to dance, but they agree to learn together. When she feels close to Alberto's body, Marina begins to feel her heart beat faster and he enjoys the smell of her hair.

Damiana wakes up; so Tori tells her tha Marina is off to the party. Damiana is not happy!

Paulino sees that Marina is too happy with Beto. He tells Marina that Damiana will be mad at her for being in the town at night and insists on taking Marina home. Marina thanks Alberto for inviting her and for the pleasant time she had.

Nina, I do remember Marina telling Doc Isauro that she wished she could see and he very rudely told her to forget it, but I don't recall that he has any info on how she could get her sight back.

" (Yeah, Su, not everyone likes dressing like a skank!). " I so agree!!! Pru's outfit was perfect for the party, unlike Skankasaurus's.

My list of Crockpot Theories© just got longer after this episode:
- That couch convo between Don Louse (not a typo) & Susana spells T.R.O.U.B.L.E.
- Vanessa tossing back shots and looking at Paulino (and he returning the looks) does not bode well for her fidelity with Beto. My TV screen was sizzling.
- Vanessa may have a drinking problem.

I seem to recall we had some discussion on the Patio about that convo between Marina and Isauro and getting her eyesight, but I'm too lazy to search for it to get the details. I remember him shutting down his secretary over it, too, Nina.

Why doesn't Damiana return Pru's earrings to Angustias? Oh, wait, that would be a good idea and nobody in telenovelas has good ideas.

Marina

Thanks so much for this excellent recap and all the others, Rgv Chick! You're a trouper for doing each and every one. I'm caught up now, as I didn't see Friday's until the new page was already up.

Vanessa is playing a classic TN other woman. As the two protagonists meet, the rich guy already has a rich girlfriend, who is snotty and looks down on humble people. Check that box.

I do believe there's some chemistry between Vanessa and Paulino.

I'm irritated by Lino's dragging Marina away from the party. I still can't tell if it's over-protectiveness or if he has a thing for her. His hostility toward Beto seems odd to me as well. I got the impression they might have been friends as boys.

I know Damiana also wants to protect Marina, but that was kind of a mean trick, sending the obedient girl to gather a LOT of herbs so she'd miss the party.

It would, of course, have been a disaster if Marina had worn those aquamarine earrings to the party. But Marina is pretty sharp, asking how Eulalia could have afforded such earrings.

Don Luis and Susana - definitely something going to happen there.

Marina's mistake that so annoyed Isauro was saying that the famous book by Juan Rulfo was Cien Años de Soledad. It's Pedro Páramo, which we read some years ago in my Spanish class.

I guess we can pretty much give up on prefacing our comments with the title, since we're all commenting on Mirada. Maybe we should just title our comment if we're NOT commenting on Mirada (saves keystrokes).

Thanks, RGV for the very FULL recap. I got used to watching En Tierras Salvajes without a recap. I was surprised how little I enjoyed it without a community to get into the weeds with it. There was so much wrong with that story.

Back to Marina in Mirada...She heard every sniff--and HE enjoyed twirling her hair, too.

Yeah, the earrings caper was so lame. You can't tell me that in 20 some years, Don Luis NEVER asked Pru to wear the earrings, or note that she never wore them? All of a sudden he wants her to wear them and is willing to send back to the city for someone to get them? Pullleeeeze. This little scene is definitely meant to create problems in the future. Marina is going to manage to wear them somewhere Luis will see them. Question: do men pay that much attention to detail that they would remember a pair of earrings they gave their wives over 20 years ago? Surely he's given her other expensive earrings since.
 

I also wondered about Vanessa. Didn't we see her drunk back at school in her own bedroom. Surely it must have come after a night of clubbing with "friends." Now, she tosses down 3 tequilas and she's 3 sheets to the wind?

With her, I think it's negative attraction to Lino. She'd never give up Beto and his money for Lino, but she might take a taste of forbidden fruit, so to say. Although, she seems a bit bored by Beto and his love of the country. Obvio, she likes the fast life in the city. These two will never be one, unless forced---ooooh, faked pregnancy bingo square?

One of my squares says "Character sings." Does Lino count? It was a lovely song. It doesn't say main protag or galan, just character. I say it counts.
 

Thanks Rgv Chick. Am I the only one who thinks Lino is waaaay hotter than the main galan? And since I'm smitten, I'll take his side and say it was only protectiveness that led him to whisk Marina away before Beto could get any more traction. And I think Vanessa is going to fall big-time for our Lino (already has, in fact) and we'll end up with two socially mismatched couples.

Anyway, she had to leave "the ball" early to fit with the Cinderella theme. Still enjoying this although not looking forward to the coming shenanigans with Don Louse and Vanessa's mom. Ugh. Too much like real life. Remember that old blues song "Don't worry 'bout no strange woman, honey, jus' watch out for yo' bes' friend."
 

JudyB—I suspect it was meant to be that way. Beto needs to be nice. Lino can have bedroom eyes and strum that guitar.

Ep 6: Part 1 First Kiss

On the way back home, Lino tells Marina that Beto is not a good person. When they were children, Beto and he would play together and became friends, but now it seems that Beto’s wealth has gone to his head.
Marina arrives home and is reprimanded by Damiana who demands that Marina not leave the house without her permission, especially not to the La Añoranza.

Angustias tells Pru about the pretty young girl Beto was dancing with, but she doesn’t know who she was.

Marina and Yola talk about the party. Yola tries to tell Marina about Beto, but Marina interrupts and tells her that she already knows that Beto is out of her league, but she had a very nice time with him at the party and sees him as a friend.

At the ranch, Vanesa talks to Lino and wonders if the song he sang was dedicated to her. After he denies it, she insults him and tells him that he sings horribly. Beto walks in, so Lino leaves. Vanesa wants to talk to Beto outside. As they walk, Vanesa notices that Beto is looking around asks what he is looking for, Beto responds that he is looking for a friend he met. Vanesa then suggests that they start the preps for their wedding…so they need to return to the city. Beto hesitates and hopes that they can take their time.

Beto and Vanesa return to the house, El Don is waiting for Beto so that they can go play with their “toys.” El Don walks out and Pru notices that Beto is not too enthused and advises him not to go against his father. Beto shares about dancing with Marina and that Marina is blind.

El Don and Beto are out practicing shooting. When El Don tells Beto that it’s his turn, Beto confesses that he does not like shooting and tells his father to give the rifle to someone who will use it; he then leaves. At a distance, Marina and Tori are out gathering flowers. Tori gets scared when he hears the shot and runs off. Beto rides up and assures Marina that it was not he who was shooting. She accepts his explanation and they chat about how her mother, who took her in as a baby because her mother died when she was born, has taught her to be independent…everything else she las learned from Doc Isauro. Marina tells Beto that she enjoyed dancing with him very much and Alberto admits that he could have danced with her all might. They listen to the birds as they come together and start to dance. Marina’s heart races as Beto gets closer and, though she is blind, her lips manage to find his and THEY KISSSS! Once they separate, Alberto realizes that he acted on impulse and apologizes to Marina.

Back at the ranch, Vanesa goes looking for Beto at the stables and bumps into Lino. After their love-hate arguing, Vanesa tells Lino that she is going to teach him where his place is. As she walks away, Lino whispers that he will teach her where her place is too.

Marina gets back home. When Damiana tries to talk to her, Marina is in la-la land thinking about her kiss with Bero. Damiana wonders what is wrong with her; so Marina tells her she needs to go to her room to finish her homework.

Erasmo and Lino talk at the stables. After Lino complains about Vanesa, Erasmo kids him about falling in love since there is a fine line between love and hate.

Once Beto gets back to the ranchhouse, he suggests to Vanessa that they go back to the city NOW to begin their wedding preparations (chicken!). Vanessa now is hesitant and tells Beto that she wants him to be happy; he should spend more time there with his father. She promises to find something to do there at the ranch.

Marina is in her room remembering the kiss and wondering why Beto apologized.

At the ranch, El Don suggests to Vanesa that she learn to ride a horse. Later Beto asks Lino to prepare a calm horse for his girlfriend so that she can learn to ride. Lino tries to tell him that the horses they have are all somewhat feisty, but Beto insists that he find one that is more docile.
 

MIRADA

Ep 6: Part 2 First Kiss

Beto goes to talk to his father. He doesn’t want to be at odds with him. When El Don tries to make him feel guilty about not wanting to learn to fire a rifle, Beto suggests that he teach him how to manage the ranch. El Don likes the idea.

Angustias tells Pru that she has contacted several cemeteries and none have a record of a baby buried on the particular date that Pru’s baby died. Pru insists that she continue looking.


Marina is at her swing hoping that Beto will come by. Later she goes to the cemetery and confides in Baldo about the kiss Beto gave her. After she describes how she felt, Baldo tells her that those feelings she is having is called “love.” Baldo tells her that love can be beautiful, but it can hurt her. He advises that a person can have a beautiful dream, yet wake up crying. Marina doesn’t think that will be the case with her because she knows that Beto felt the same way that she did.

Angustias asks Margarito for Damiana’s address. He avoids giving it to her and tells her that he will tell Damiana that she wants to talk to her.

Vanesa complains to Beto about having Lino teach her how to ride. She has a tantrum and insists that Beto be the one to teach her. After he walks off, Susana scolds Vanesa and tells her to stop acting like a child…and to do what her future husband tells her to do.

Marina goes to see Doc Isauro. He notices that she is behaving differently. After much prodding, Marina confides that she went to a party and that Beto invited her. Isauro gets upset and wonders if she went to the party so others can make fun of her. When he tells her that she shouldn’t be seeing Beto, Marina insists that she wants to be friends with Beto and will continue to see him. Isauro then tells her that Beto is only being nice to her out of pity.

Beto accompanies Vanesa to meet with Lino, After he leaves them alone for a while, Vanesa tells Lino that she doesn’t want the horse to throw her. Lino replies that if she does as she is told, everything will be alright. Vanesa wonders if he is talking about the horse or her. Lino then suggestively tells her that it’s all a matter of control…he pulls in the reins and releases them. Vanesa still wonders if he is referring to her.

Marina refuses to believe that Beto only feels pity for her; he has treated her like no one else has. Isauro chides her and tells her that it is only he who cares about her and reminds her that she is alive because of him. Ramona listens from the door as Isauro insists that Marina’s friendship with Beto must end. Marina gets upset and quickly leaves; she refuses to believe that Beto is like that.

I agree with everyone that the El Don and Susana's storyline is leading to no good.

Anita, I think Vanesa is definitely going to take a bite of that forbidden fruit. How quickly she changed her mind about leaving La Anoranza today!

JudyB, You're not alone at the "Lino hotter than the galan" table. Ay! Ay! Ay! and with that crooner voice!

novelera, it was definitely mean of Damiana to send off Marina with a slew of chores. Guess it backfired, huh? Damiana seemed much more reasonable when younger. I wonder how she got so bitter?

I found it strange that Marina spoke of her kiss so easily to Baldo and Isauro, but she kept quiet about it with Damiana. hmmm...

Beto lost some points today when he rushed to Vanesa and told her he wanted to leave ASAP...run, Forest, run!! Not good!
 

So the good doc is using his trump card, bring up saving her life, and try n guilt her into obligation to him. Jerk. That mask is funny lookin.

When Vanessa went walking outside with Beto, I wondered how her tall spiked heels did not sink into the ground.

Beto sniffed Marina's hair. What is it with these guys and her hair??? "Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific!" shampoo?

He also sat with a throw pillow over his lap for most of that conversation... post-beso with Marina.

Isauro is so cruel. His self-loathing is oozing over to Marina and everyone.

I enjoyed watching Lino not taking any guff from Van and definitely putting that filly in her place. She's liking it, while not liking it. She's used to her bland, mashed potato-type boyfriend and maneuvering and manipulating him to suit her moods. I bet that "gentle" mare he puts her on gives her some trouble and he's there to rescue her.

Up to now, Marina has been feisty, self-assured and thinking straight, coming to her own conclusions, based on experience, although an experience with a love-interest has been zero. Lino, Tori and Isauro don't count.

Can she really believe everything that her mother has said that "those people" are different and she needs to stay away. Further, will she believe Isauro about "boys like that?" She stood up to both of them, defending Beto. I hope she doesn't falter and goes to talk to Beto instead of rejecting him with a Largate, as we long-time Patio sitters expect her to do.

Beto needs to talk to her instead of his mother about what he felt about her while dancing AND that he has an official novia.

Hmmm, pure speculation, but if Van breaks a leg, will they air-lift her back to the city or to the local hospital. If she goes to the city, will Beto stay at the ranch...either way, he'll please his father by learning about ranch management and more time to "run into" Marina.

Doris--I definitely noticed the critical pillow placement, but didn't want to mention it, ha! I wonder if the director meant it to be taken the way we did.
 

Doris and Anita, good observation on the pillow! LOL I did not catch that since I'm up and about feeding my dogs while the show is on. Now I'm going to have go back and watch the recording :-)

Nina, Lino and Vanesa sure are heating up the screen with their love-hate exchanges. I think there will be fireworks when those two "get together."

Thank again for your recap, Rgv! I don't know how you do it! Two a week wear me out.

I need my beanie for the Beto/Lino relationship. From what we've seen Beto has spent very little time at the ranch. It ain't easy studying medicine. So the only thing Beto did was want to use a nice saddle and then immediately backed off when he found out it belonged to Lino. And ever since Lino has forgotten their boyhood friendship and treats the guy like crap, making snarky comments every time they speak.

I am SO over Angustias searching for the baby grave. It's become too repetitive. We get it. Prudencia wants to mourn her daughter.

I can't quite figure out whether Susana wants Vanessa to marry Beto because she wants her child to have a good life or whether she plans to leech off the Ocaranza family herself.

And Isauro! I wanted to yank that mask off his face and beat him with it! What despicable behavior! I'm certain he has learned of some medical intervention that could restore her sight and is keeping it to himself.

Other need-my-beanie moments are whenever Marina, who is presented as so intuitive, doesn't ever pick up on Isauro's possessive jealousy.

In one of the early episodes Beto was an infant and Susana was pregnant. She and Pru were talking and Susa had it all figured out. She was having a girl so of course it made sense their two offspring should marry. I also seem to remember that the two couples were close friends. By the time they got to today, in tn time, her husband had died. Even though she and Pru are still friends, I won't put it past her to have at Luis, for a fling or permanently. He throws money around like watering plants, so some of it will surely fall her way.

I sort of half recognized Susana and finally was able to identify her--Vicky, Vicky, Vicky from Dinero. I haven't seen her since, but she's been quite active in recent years more so in comedies. She's quite attractive and has aged gracefully. If only she wasn't such a pushy dame.
 

novelera--again. I think overall, Isauro has been able to keep her in line until this episode. This was quite an outburst from him. Hurtful, too. She probably doesn't have a jealous streak in her body and doesn't know what jealousy is (just wait 'til she meets Vanessa).

Ep 7: Part 1 Oh, It’s Cryin’ Time…

At the ranch kitchen, Angustias talks to Margarito and asks if he has been able to talk to Damiana. Margarito replies that he hasn’t had a chance and wonders what it is that Angustias needs to say to Damiana, but Angustias avoids the question.

Damiana arrives home and sees that Marina has been boohooing. She wonders why since Marina was so happy when she left in the morning. After Marina confides what Isauro thinks of Beto and that he wants her to stay away from him, Damiana sides with Isauro.

Angustias goes into town to see if she can find out more about where Damiana lives. After a man gives her directions, Angustias quickly finds Damiana’s house.

Beto thinks about his kiss with Marina; he thinks he shouldn’t have kissed her (too late, dude, you’re in deep now…deal with it).

Angustias confronts Damiana and tells her she is not leaving there until Damiana tells her where the baby is buried. After Damiana tells her she doesn’t remember, Angustias doesn’t buy it and tells Damiana that Pru is not going to let it go. Damiana is surprised that Pru knows. Angustias hands Damiana a bundle of money and tells her not to be accepting money from El Don. She again asks where the baby is buried.

In town, Isauro catches up to Marina who is walking down a sidewalk. He apologizes for being so rude (more like an ass), but still presses her to promise that she will not get near Beto again. Marina stands firm and refuses.

At the ranch, El Don goes to the kitchen and asks for Angustias. When Pru lies and tells him that Angustias went to visit family in town, El Don is muy upset because Angustias is not there to make him what he likes (well, la-dee-da!)

At Damiana’s house, Damiana tells Angustias to keep her money; money is not what she is after. When Angustias suggests that Damiana has told others about the baby, Damiana swears that she has told no one and reiterates that she buried the baby somewhere in the woods.

At the ranch, Vanesa listens to Lino as he sings outside. She goes outside and starts to videotape him and shares it with a friend of hers in the city. When Lino sees her, she hides behind a tree then runs inside the house.

Later, Vanesa nags Beto and they argue about Marina. El Don comes in as they argue. After Beto and Van leave, Pru comes in and tells El Don about Marina…she is the young girl whom Beto promised that he would not be shoot at anything…and the one he danced with at his party.

Marina visits with Yola and tells her about “the kiss.” Lino overhears and gets angry since he warned her that Beto would only use her. He then tells her that Beto has a girlfriend. Marina is impactada!

El Don and family are having dinner when El Don brings up the girl with whom Beto danced at his party. After they discuss the girl that Beto has befriended, El Don berates Marina and demands that the girl keep away from the ranch and the family…she is causing problems between Vanesa and Beto (Oh, gee! Could the problem be that neither one loves the other?).

Ep 7: Part 2 Oh, It’s Cryin’ Time…

After Lino storms out, Marina cries and wonders why Beto was so adamant about seeking her out. She thinks Beto danced with her just to pass the time. When she asks Yola what Vanesa is like, Yola tells her she is refined and delicate…a typical, rich, city girl. Marina now thinks that she should have believed the Doc. Yola advises Marina to go home and rest.

After dinner, Pru talks to Beto about Vanesa. After she reminds him that Vanesa loves him, Beto assures her that he loves Vanesa too (saying it out loud doesn’t make it true, Betito).

The Doc returns to his house. Ramona wonders where he was so he tells her he went out to talk to Marina. Ramona hopes that he apologized for how he treated Marina. When he tells her that he fears for Marina, Ramona thinks that what he fears is that Marina will meet a man and have the feelings for him like those that the Doc has for Marina (Bull’s Eye, Ramona! Let’s just hope that the bull doesn’t come charging back at you!). The Doc almost crushes her hand as he chides her.

Marina is walking home accompanied by Toribio. She cries and Toribio wonders who made her cry. Marina thinks she brought in on herself, but still shares that it was “him.”

Pru and Angustias talk in the kitchen. Angustias tells Pru about her visit with Damiana. Meanwhile, Damiana prays and is sorry that she had to lie.

Beto is outside thinking about his kiss with Marina when Lino catches him by surprise and socks it to him good. Beto retaliates and also does a good job of throwing punches at Lino. As they fight. Lino chides Beto for kissing Marina when he already has a girlfriend. They finally stop fighting and part ways. Lino thinks about how he underestimated Beto’s fighting ability.

Marina is still with Toribio when she hears Damiana calling out for her. As she leaves, Tori keeps repeating tahat tears end with time…except his. When Marina finally reaches Damiana, Damiana sees that she is sobbing. Once home, Damiana makes some tea for Marina so that she can rest. Marina thinks about all the nice things Beto said to her.

Vanesa is in her room being lectured by Susana when Pru comes in and assures Vanesa that she shouldn’t be jealous of Marina. Beto is only being kind to the girl…he was educated to be that way.

Next Day—

El Don sees Beto’s bruises; so Beto tells him he fell into a ditch. El Don doesn’t buy it. Likewise, Margarito sees Lino’ s bruises; so Lino tells him that he got thrown by a horse. Margarito doesn’t buy it either.

As Damiana goes off to town, Yola comes to visit Marina and tells her about the fight between Lino and Beto. Marina is upset because Lino should allow her to fend for herself.

Beto is out walking when he sees Tori who tells him that Marina was crying because of him.

Damiana is in town trying to sell her potions when Ramona sees her. Meanwhile, Marina decides to go look for Beto and starts on her way to the ranch. Erasmo sees Marina and offers to accompany her, but El Don rides up and tells Erasmo that he will tend to the young girl. Marina tells El Don that she is looking for his son. She extends her hand to shake his, but El Don remains on his high horse. He tells her his son is not there. He knows that she is the blind one and tells her not to be looking for her son. After El Don tells her that his son is going to marry a beautiful girl and that she is not welcome at his home, he orders her off his land.

Ramona runs to the Doc and tells him about Damiana trying to sell her potions. Isauro thinks Marina has been lying to him.

El Don gets home upset and tells Angustias that he just ran into the blind girl…she was looking for his son. He thinks that Marina just wants to take advantage of Beto.

Marina goes to see Yola and cries as she tells her how El Don humiliated her. She felt like she was worthless. Yola advises that she not take it personal and that she should go back home.

Doc goes to talk to Damiana at her house and chides her for making up the story about selling her potions to keep Marina from leaving with him to the city.

Vanesa is texting with her friend about Lino when Beto arrives. She talks him into going out for a walk. Meanwhile, Marina has started her walk back home when, lo and behold, there is the happy couple! Ta-ta-ta-tum!
 

Novelera, I'm pretty sure the mask knows of a surgery that can
Restore her vision. So we will go through the usual push n pull
Until her sight is restored and
The two love birds are together.
How many episodes from now is that?

Oh dear, our little sheltered girl is growing up all of a sudden, and learning that the world is not a warm, fuzzy place. Ouch.
I can understand why Paulino wants to protect her from Beto, who is affianced.

Isauro called Ramona "mama" today. Apparently I missed that she is more than his secretary. That makes him even more of an abuser. I hope she gets the heck out of dodge, but she probably sticks around out of concern for the patients.

Again, a million thanks for the FULL recap, Rgv Chick! That was a very impactful episode. Lots of things to talk about, but I have to take a shower and go to work!

doris, I also heard the mamá. Isauro gets more over the top by the minute.

I had a moment, when Don Full of Himself was literally on his high horse, when I wondered if he was going to become obsessed with Marina himself. They went to commercial while he was staring at her. Whew! At least he's not going to do more than order her off his land.

This is likely one of those all too familiar turning points in telenovelas when one of the two protagonists finds out something that may or may not be true about the other one. Then they're estranged for a very long time.

Thanks Rgv Chick. Dang, I wanted those sweet beginning illusions to last a little longer. I did enjoy Lino busting Beto in the chops. Although I know the latter wasn't intentionally toying with Marina (but giving in to his "manifest destiny") I still thought he had it coming, and I like how Lino protects his local talent and his own pride as a man. Okay, yeah, I admit it, I'm hot for Lino. He can do no wrong.
