Mi Marido Tiene Más Familia, Capítulo 124, Tuesday, March 12, 2019; Grecia’s life is in danger and Daniela moves forward

We begin today with Mássimo complimenting Neto for his good work. He can become as master maker of mescal. He wants him to come up with a special formula to honor his grandson Gabriel.

Susana and Pancho are discussing the details of the business. Susana is profit minded and lets him know one of her duties as Vice President is to maximize profits.

At school, Sebas tells Julio and Lupita he is sick and feigns a cold. But he is really embarrassed about his smelly feet and once they leave the room, he sprays his feet.

Grecia is sitting out by the pool thinking about what Neto said to her last time she saw him. He said he would protect her. But out from the shadows appears her worst nightmare! Felix has come for his revenge. He knocks her into the pool. As they struggle and he tries to drown her, she calls for help. However, Crisanta is the only one at home and is looking around the house for Grecia. She and Felix struggle in the pool for a few minutes before Crisanta is able to come out and Felix runs away. Grecia is frantic and in tears in the pool. Crisanta brings her inside and tries to comfort Grecia as much as she possibly can.

Blanca, Polita, Daniela, and Frida are getting ready for having the big family reunion in their home. Frida announces she cannot wait to see her cousin Yolo and wants to be just like her. Dani and Blanca just look at her and Blanca asks Frida to go bring some more napkins. Then Frida does an eyeroll similar to Yolo. Blanca worriedly tells Dani and Polita that she does not want Frida acting like Yolo and feels Yolo is a bad influence. Dani tells her not to worry, as she and Marisol have taught Frida well. Dani assure Blanca that the dinner will be spectacular and all the thanks go to her.

Carlos is at a gym working out. He is imagining trying to get the muscles for the  six-pack, abs, and biceps that Neto has. He tries every machine there is and ends up very sore. He then asks the gym worker if they have a suntan machine.

Next, we are treated to seeing Neto change into a clean shirt, displaying the muscles that Carlos is trying to achieve. Neto and his family are about to join the Córsegas at dinner. Yolo is even dressed up. She wants to be the most beautiful girl there.

Guests begin to arrive at the Córsegas, including Mássimo and Guido. Mássimo tells Eugenio he wishes that that Imelda would forgive him. Eugenio says, “Well as long as you don’t hurt her anymore, everything will be fine.”

The families, made up of Córsegas, Musis, and Lopez families, gather in living room and Susana begins to talk about the family unity. Catalina and Tavo arrive late. Then Imelda comes, displaying a barrage is inhospitableness toward everyone saying that she never gave permission to have a gathering in HER house and since it’s HER house, it’s HER RULES. She attacks Temo and Ari telling them they are not welcome there together. Pancho says he will talk to them outside.

Out in the hallway he tells the boys that they should not be alone together and when they go out, they need to be chaperoned. The boys protest, but Pancho has the last word on it. [Not sure what that is about since neither boy is going to get pregnant.]

Soon, Diana comes walking up, seems she is joining the party too, at least for a little while.

At the party, Susana talks about having a united family. Audi announces that it’s important to be close to God.

Diana makes the announcement that she was the “sapito” and was responsible for the gastic incident at the school. She apologizes profusely and says she is very regretful and repentant. The kids all shake their heads. Sebas comments now everyone can now know it really wasn’t him. Diana says she is resigning. She knows she has lost everyone’s trust and has lost her husband.  Blanca says that they are not there to judge her. Susana says that her son made a mistake too and changed. Diana says she wants Hugo reinstated as Director. Then she leaves.

Yolo goes to the bathroom and Guido follows her. They start kissing in the bathroom. After a few minutes, Guido leaves the bathroom and Frida comes running up asking for Yolo. He says he hasn’t seen her. So Frida knocks on the bathroom door and Yolo opens it thinking it was Guido. Looks like Frida and Yolo are becoming fast friends.

At the party, everyone is given a box. Susana and Pancho explain that what goes in the box is something that symbolizes themselves. Such as a loaf of bread for Eugenio or Blanca a spoon from her kitchen. The boxes represent the past, present, and future, and should contain something that they want to become. Imelda, of course looks at this very negatively because she is too old to have a future. When they are done, Susana tells everyone to put their names on their boxes.

Polita steps up and says she had to quit high school when she was young. She wants to go back to school but feels too old. The entire group tells her that she is not too old and that she can achieve what she wants at any age. They encourage her to enroll in school. Susana says life is so much better when they are all together. Pancho hugs her and everyone hugs each other.  Neto thanks everyone for taking him in as family after they discovered he was family. He wants to be a good son to Eugenio and a good brother to his sisters. He loves being with them.

Ding dong! Frida runs to the door and it’s Carlos Roja Navarrete. She says, “who are you?” He explains he is the triplets doctor and is there to see Daniela. She Frida goes to get Daniela.

Daniela finds the handsome doctor at the door and he has come to confess that it was him who left the gifts at the door. Daniela says, “it was you????” He apologizes and tells her he thought he was being nice. But Daniela explains, “It wasn’t that, it’s just that the bear was a big symbol of what my husband and I affectionately called ourselves. We called ourselves the bear family and we called the triplets our little bears.” Then Carlos says, “I didn’t know you were dating someone else.” At the exact moment, Neto opens his door across the hall and Carlos looks over at him. “Him,” says Carlos. Daniela, looking a little incredulous says, “No this can’t be.” She then introduces the good doctor to Neto, her older half brother. He explains that he saw her hugging him and that is why he was confused. Carlos looks very sheepish at that point.

In the kitchen, Temo and Ari are looking at their identical tattoos. Pancho walks in looking surprised and sees the tattoos. He asks if they are fake. Temo tells him they are indeed real.

Daniela and Carlos talk about being friends, but says her life is marked by her past and the death of her husband. Carlos asks how he died. She explains how Gabriel died and the strange circumstances of his heart attack. She relates about how his symptoms, including the gastritis, skin blotches, bloodshot eyes were happening previously. Dani thought it had something to do with the antidepressants he was taking and all the stress he was under day and night because the triplets were coming. Carlos asked if their was an autopsy done, at that moment, Guido comes out into the hallway and she introduces them. [Of course Guido looks guilty.] He says he has to leave now, kisses her cheek and tells her he loves her.

Grecia calls Neto and tells him she has an emergency—that Felix came and attacked her.

Polita's lawyer stops by with some important news. He found out that Tulio Corsega bribed the judge causing her to lose custody of Arqui.

Now sitting on the stairs, Carlos tells Daniela that maybe sometime later they can sit down and analyze Gabriel’s symptoms to find out what really happened to him.

Tried to post a pic but it just wasn't coming out correctly. Anyway, please excuse the brevity, I'm still feeling under the weather.

Cynthia, thank you for this excellent recap, and I hope you feel better very soon. Maybe you're keeping too clean a house :-)

Did they respray Imelda's face? She looked almost as good as the Bride of Frankenstein tonight. Well, almost almost.

It was nice of Neto to refer to Dani as his sister and tip off Dr Goofy (Carlos). Dr Carlos should know better than to try to get buff overnight, it ain't gonna happen. Otherwise he seems fairly bright and is curious about what happened to Gabriel, so things may happen with him faster than I first thought.

Guido and Yolo, meh, I don't know. It seems they are both sincerely attracted, but I don't see a happily ever after here. And she's too young anyway.

Marvelous Cynthia.

No pictures necessary - the recap said it all. Excellent title.

"a barrage is inhospitableness" was my favorite of many.
“Susana says life is so much better when they are all together”. A sweet sentiment and very true. Somehow, these different people puzzle pieces fit pretty perfectly.

I enjoyed all the scenes where Carlos was wishing for vastly improved abs and arm muscles. "He is imagining trying to get the muscles for the six-pack, abs, and biceps that Neto has". Indeed. Also, were the pictures of Gabe Soto from Vino? He hasn't had much opportunity to go shirtless here. Yet. One can only hope.

“Out in the hallway he tells the boys that they should not be alone together and when they go out, they need to be chaperoned”. Huh? I’ve thought Pancho is many things (mostly good) but delusional wasn’t one of them.

Very happy Carlos is asking questions about Gabe's death. Everyone else still seems clueless…

andy, no, I don't see anything good ahead for Guido and Yolo. I keep wondering how he murdered his parents. He still makes me shudder.

Thought the Grecia and Felix scene was too well done. She needs to move and get 24/7 protection.

Glad Diana revealed the truth. Wish I cared more.

Cynthia, hope you continue to feel better. Thank you for doing this, especially as you are still ailing.

Diana

Thank you, Cynthia. Loved the recap as well as your red commentary. Here is hoping you are feeling 100% soon.

Andy, Let us hope Pablo finally gets the ball rolling in the right direction in reference to Gabriel’s premature death. I like Carlos although he is goofy. Dani is goofy, too, but I found Dani’s customary tenseness annoying here. This time was because she reacted to Carlos thinking that Neto was her boyfriend but didn’t tell him who Neto was. It took Neto to do that. The girl does have a mouth, she needs to use it.

Diana, I agree there can be no good from Guido and Yolo. The worst part of it is that he can seem like a “normal” pervert seducing a minor, when it fact he is a murderer. The degrees of illegality/immorality here are mind blowing. Yes, that pool attack scene on Grecia was excellent. Will she FINALLY call the police now?

Paco made me laugh. It is as if he doesn’t want the boys to be free to do anything he probably doesn’t want to think of/imagine them doing. Temo and Ari are looking older all the time to me especially last night. This could be Paco’s last stand with them. LOL

Imelda was particularly vicious.

"Imelda was particularly vicious"

Ooooh, how perfectly you captured that Jarifa!!

Whenever Imelda appears onscreen, my smile fades as I wonder how many more potentially joyous occasions she is going to ruin. And how many more times she will hurt her family, whom she declares she loves. Sickening.

Diana

I want to add that I do not think of Paco’s reaction a homophobic way. I think it is in a parental way not wanting to realize your kid is all grown up and in a taboo sort of way just like kids never want to think of how they were conceived. ¡ guácala !

Jarifa: Grecia's in danger too ? Why would anyone want her DEAD ?

Jarifa, yes, Pancho is acting as most watchful parent would, purely for the care and concern of their children.

I still smile remembering how protective he was of Lupita about Dave of all people!

Neto's worrying about Yolo has greater significance than he can possibly imagine. He's vigilant but how would he know the simplest action of going to the rest room would lead to trouble? He can't watch her every move even when she is "right there". Regretfully.

Very quiet here. Missing Judy and others.

Diana

Diana, ITA that Neto has his hands full with Yolo not knowing the half of it. I feel sorry for him.

Yes, I remember how Pancho was all over Lupita and Dave. Now we know it wasn’t just because Lupita was his “daughter” but that his protective nature extends to all of his children.

I wouldn’t be sorry if Nonno and Imelda ran off to Italy together. It would be a good and maybe permanent break from her. We probably won’t be so lucky. Sort of like real life. 😕☺️

Thanks everyone! I have to run to another training class today, but I appreciate your comments. One thing I just added to the recap (that I just added toward the end) was that Polita's lawyer came to see her with the news that Tulio paid off the judge so that she would lose custody.

Imelda really got on my nerves last night. Jarifa, I think that Nonno should take Imelda to Italy with him. I get tired of her saying, "this is MY house!" People like that end up living alone. And she deserves it.

Good afternoon Patio. Late to the party. Had an early morning appointment with the hearing aid specialist. I'm losing hearing in my left ear unfortunately and no one can figure out why. Sure doesn't help with Spanish comprehension!

Cynthia, thanks for pounding out another comprehensive recap while under the weather. Some of these viruses seem to hang on forever.

I think it's sad that the actress playing Imelda has such an unpleasant role to play because it will probably be her last. And as an actress I would not want to be remembered that way. In Soy tu Dueña she played a nervous nettie of a mother and the recappers nicknamed her Tizzie because she was always in one! She's gone from tizzy to toxic in this story.

Jarifa, have been thinking about you the last few days because I am reading a book set in Chicago called I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter. It's written in English but the author's blurb says she speaks Spanish and Spanglish as well and she sprinkles in Spanish slang as well as commentary on her horror at her relatives watching Primer Impacto and overwrought telenovelas.

Is anybody else struggling to adapt to the time change? I seem to be walking around in a fog half the time.

Anyway, Cynthia sending you and everyone good vibes for healing, energy and what the heck, a little perkiness thrown in. Thanks as always for the recap.

Thanks Cynthia. I thought that was the gist of Polita and her lawyer's conversation.

Jarifa, I would LOVE it if Nonno and Imelda would run off. Nonno's rather comical expressions are reminding me of Rodney Dangerfield. One of the many reasons I can't give himm "no respect". Sorry. Couldn't help myself.

Diana

JudyB, that book is one of many on my neverending reading list. Thanks for the info and thinking of me! The protagonist’s reaction sounds like my own horrified one to my parents watching Lawrence Welk and Johnny Carson back in the day.

If this is how Silvia Pinal is remembered (as Imelda), I think it would be okay because she has done such a great job of portraying the bitter, hateful Imelda. My very dislike of that character is a tribute to her talent. She has such a huge body of work and was a movie star long before she hit the current telenovelas. Her bio drama “Sílvia Pinal frente a ti” followed “Mi marido tiene más famila” in Mexico before they start “Doña Flor y sus maridos.” Here is hoping they show it some time here. It looks like “Mi marido . . . ” is going to be followed directly by “Doña Flor y sus dos maridos” here from what I have seen.

I do very well with “springing ahead. “ I suffer from “falling back” in autumn. It seems I never get used to that one until I get to spring ahead again.

I am soooo glad that Polita has the truth about so y Audi, Tulio and Imelda. With her lawyer maybe they can do some damage to this trio.

Diana, Rodney Dangerfield? Very funny! I haven’t thought of him in years. It may be time to see “Caddyshack again”.

Time to run some errands in the rain: at least it is not snow.

Cynthia, thank you for yet another excellent recap.I hope that you feel better soon. It must be particularly rough having to go through training for your position while under the weather.

Judyb, I hope the doctors can figure out your hearing loss. I have a good friend who recently got a hearing aid.

I had to change the channel when Felix attacked Grecia and pushed her in the pool. I have always loved to swim, but I can remember someone ducking me at the local pool and it was very frightening .

I tried to watch the new 10 pm telenovela, but the shooting and kidnapped made me turn it off. I need to watch something nonviolent and positive.

Susanlynn, I had exactly the same reaction to Ley2. Just horrible sadistic violence. Don't need that. And when it wasn't violent, it was a guy drowning his sorrows in tequila and I hate those scenes also. My husband has started watching the old classic movies, most of which are in black and white, because they are a lot more comforting than the news or some of the new crime shows. I like to stick to Spanish, but for now, it's slim pickings. It used to be we had three good shows on Univision, 7, 8 and 9 pm. But that has sure changed.

Diana, I think the scenes of Gabriel Soto shirtless were from the time he was working harvesting and cutting, what is it?, agave?, whatever. They may have included an outtake or two. I thought that was ever so slightly strange, as Dr Carlos never saw him working in the field and could not have imagined this. But it was a way to give the ladies who like this some "shirtless galán" time. Give 'em what they want and they'll keep coming back :-)

Jarifa, I completely agree with you about "It is as if he doesn’t want the boys to be free to do anything he probably doesn’t want to think of/imagine them doing." I can sympathize. It's hard enough coming to accept that your children are going to be sexually active at some point soon, but when it's sexual activity that some small part of you can't help but say "eeuuwww!" to, then it must be doubly hard.

:-)

andy

I have to agree about passing on PASL2. It doesn't look at all pleasant, which is fine, not everybody is looking for Polyannish fare, some want excitement and violence and noise. I'm just not one of them.

Judyb...I agree completely. I am afraid that like everything else, telenovelas have changed. Hub and I used to watch the news, but I don't watch much news anymore. I don't need anything to fuel my depression. I usually watch old reruns.. "The Golden Girls" , "Dr. Quinn" "The Wsaltons" "Hart to Hart" ....memories of a kinder, gentler time.

Imelda was really terrible in this episode! I would think Maximo would see this and run for Crisantas. What does he see in her?!

Thank you Cynthia and Jarifa and all the responders each day. I really appreciate all of you.

MaryKat

Cynthia, great job. Your "inhospitableness" line is my fave too.

I've been too crazy busy to keep up lately but finally caught a break last night to watch. Only to see Guido kissing Yolo. Eeeoow!

Ordinarily I say it's too soon for Dani to hook up with Carlos, but she does need a break from the kids and work. I'm guessing Gabriel will visit her in a dream and tell her it's okay to move on. Poor Carlos has a touch act to follow though.

Re Dr. Carlos and Dani. My friend's son lost his 36 year-old wife to colon cancer. A year later he remarried. It rained, and after the ceremony , a rainbow 🌈 appeared, and he and his bride had a photograph taken of them with the rainbow 🌈 above them. They considered it a sign of approval from his first wife. Dani is young, and she has triplets to raise. I hope those two have a happy ending.
