Mi marido tiene más familia Monday 3/18/19 Capítulo 128 Guido and Ariana Put the Pedal to the Metal--OR--There Be "Clowns"

Guido insists on driving in spite of his sneezing from his "damn" allergies. When Luigi questions his decision, Guido tells him he might have allergies but is not blind.  They trade places. Guido is now behind the wheel and cannot wait to "return the favor" to the kids that took everything from him.  Luigi laughs as Guido sneezes again.

Ari finally takes off Temo's blindfold and he sees the wonderful picnic  Ari has created just for him.  Temo loves it and has always wanted to go on a picnic with Ari.  Ari explains that he loves Temo but sometimes doesn't know how to act around him.  Even though they are novios, he is not sure if he can touch him or if he is going to be too lame.  Temo shakes his head agreeing that he often doesn't know what to do either but that they can learn together. They hold hands and Ari asks Temo if he will go to infinity with him so he can show him a planet called Aristemo which is full of colors. Temo says sure but how. Ari takes out a kaleidoscope that his father gave him when he was little so he can show Temo.  As they sit observing the different designs,  Ari puts him arm around Temo and tells him that the color in his world had disappeared until Temo arrived. There is more kaleidoscope and picnic time.

At work, Pancho expresses how nervous he is and for no good reason.  It is all about Aris and Temo being on their own. He has a bad feeling that something is going to happen.  Susana tries to assure him that everything will be fine. Susana thinks he is feeling this way because Temo is growing up. She felt the same way when Axel had his first novia. Pancho agrees that she is probably right. He still remembers when Temo was a little guy playing with his soccer ball.  Now he is all grown up and in love with his own dreams.  Susana says that is the circle of life.  She tells him that the important thing is that for the rest of his days he will always be "Papancho," a father,  to Temo, Julio, Lupita, Axel, Sebas and all of the rest of the López kids in Toluca.  Susana mentions she has never met the rest of his kids.  She also reassures him that they are going to adore him and love him all of their lives. Pancho asks what about her. Susana agrees she will, too. They kiss but the  romantic moment comes to an abrupt end with Catalina seeking Susana's approval for the itinerary for the social outing with the Korean businessmen.

Temo and Ari talk about how Ari first invited Temo and his family to Blanca's and how Temo was so taken with Ari he never took the cake that Ari was trying to give him. It ended up on the floor.  Temo takes the blame for that one but he hopes to make the situation right.  Temo uncovers a beautiful chocolate cake in a box.  Crisanta got the recipe from Blanca.  We see Blanca talking to Crisanta who promises to keep the cake a secret because "discretion"  is her middle name(! ). Temo thanks Crisanta and Axel for helping him out with the cake. Axel called Temo "his brother" and is so pleased to see him happy and in love. Back in the present, Ari says they will have to thank Aunt Blanca. Temo insists he and Ari  cut the cake together.  Inside the cake, Ari finds a box with two little figures of Ari and Temo.

Back at Neto's, all of the kids are quiet.  Yolo asks Neto if he talked to their mother. Neto answers that she won't be long. They all are tense waiting.

Axel sits down with the kids and Linda. Axel wants to get to know then all since now they all are  family.   They end up playing a game where when each person catches the "watermelon" ball that represents fear they have to say something they are afraid of and then throw it away as they throw the ball to the next person.  Axel says he was afraid of  feeling, commitment and being vulnerable but you have to face your fears and let them go.  He looks at Linda who is visibly uncomfortable.

Ari and Temo stand holding hands. tAri ells Temo today is the day to be brave. Temo agrees but  they can also be creative with making up  a  new nickname for themselves and for their little dolls. They try out several nicknames without any luck. Temo comes up with "Tahi" as in Te Amo Hasta el Infinito" (I love you to infinity). Ari admits that Temo won with that idea. He loves it.  They hug. Temo carves their new nickname  into a tree with a key. It is now a symbol of their love that will last a lifetime.

Ariana walks along the street and finds the apartment building where Neto is living.  She pauses to get herself together as Yolo is pacing and the others are waiting inside.  Ariana enters the building,  walks down the hall and knocks on Neto's door. Everyone inside the apartment freezes and not a word is spoken. Yolo looking like she is in shock, turns and goes to open the door. The boys stand up and they along with Neto stare at the door. Yolo opens the door and Ariana is there.  They stare at teach other with tears in their eyes.

Ari and Temo have a fine old time in the park dancing, flirting, pledging their love to each other, rubbing noses  and almost kissing.

Ariana asks if she can come in. Yolo says of course. Ariana comes in and looks at her sons and then Neto.

Back at the park, Axel, Linda and the kids are still playing the "fear" ball game.  Lupita is afraid of missing her mom;  Sebas of growing up and not knowing how to drive,; Frida is also afraid of growing up like Sebas; Linda is afraid of not being able to meet her own expectations; Axel is afraid of connecting with people and then losing that connection (Linda looks unimpressed), and Julio (after much coaxing) admits he is afraid of  clowns.  Lupita pats him on the back.

Neto has the whole family with  a crying Ariana sitting around the dining room table. He says that after all of these years they are reunited.  Even though they are not together, they are at the same table. Neto goes on to tell his kids that their  mother is here just as he promised them she would be in spite of what she put them though and the pain they had to overcome  due to her absence. Santi and Yolo are tearful. Andi is just angry. Ariana doesn't know where to begin. First, she wants to thank their father for letting her be there. She also wants to thanks the kids for seeing her in spite of her mistakes which she regrets every day. Yolo asks if that is the truth. Ariana answers that it is.  She regrets everything. She gives Neto credit for being a great dad and taking care of them all of this time. Neto sits stone faced. Yolo asks if she ever thought about them.  Ariana answers that she thought about them all of the time. Andi doesn't believe her.  If she had thought about them, she would have come looking fo them.  Yolo needs to know why she abandoned them. Why did she leave them as she did?

Dani is happy and giving Eugenio a back massage which he is enjoying.  Dani tells him and Blanca that she   is feeling much more content being able to get back to her carpentry work.  She is happy with her three jobs. Now she will be able help out her parents  a bit more, too, since they do so much for her and the babies.  Blanca and Eugenio tell her that isn't necessary. Dani is going to stay with Eugenio since the kids are sleeping. Blanca  thanks her as she goes to get her English materials together so she can help out Polita.  Eugenio asks Dani to help him remember.

Ariana  knows her reason for leaving is  not good enough but she felt like she was suffocating and had to get out of there.  Andi doesn't understand that.  Ariana says she felt like she didn't have a life. She has to find herself again and who she was. She knows it is all very complicated for them. Santi is crying too. Neto is silent. Yolo can't take anymore and asks why was she away for so long. Andi asks why she didn't come looking for them. She never sent them any messages. What about their birthdays? Christmas? New Year? Yolo informs her that they really needed her.   Ariana says she couldn't dare talk to them because she didn't want to confuse them.  Yolo thinks it was more of a case of not coming to find them because she didn't want to face the consequences of having gone or having destroyed them.  Neto and  Yolo  hug and the boys follow her to Neto.  Ariana cries.

Dani tells Eugenio all about how he continued his parents' business and became a baker himself.  He made the tastiest bread in all of Oaxaca and of course his specialty was "pan de frijol" (bean bread).  Eugenio remembers and that bread gives him life. Dani is also grateful to her father because he was the first to support her in becoming a carpenter.  When everyone told her it was a "man's" profession, he never judged her.  She wants her father to come spend some time with her in her workshop.  He would like to come and give his opinion on the wooden boxes she is making for the commemorative mezcal.  Dani says of course he can and in the next scene they are at her workshop.  She wants him to tell her a memory each time she cuts a piece of wood.  That is the deal.  Eugenio reminds her when she lost her first tooth. She didn't get any money from the "ratón de dientes" (tooth mouse); she got bread instead.  Eugenio says that he and the "baker" mouse decided she would like the bread more.  They both laugh. They aren't laughing when  Dani remembers how she cut her hair and Imelda said she was a boy.   Eugenio believes that memories are not only in the mind but when they are shared they are engraved on the soul.  Eugenio doesn't want to lose his memory or forget how much she  loves him.

Blanca works with Polita on her English and it is  not going well. Polita gets frustrated and goes to refresh herself with some water,  She sees herself in the mirror and realizes that she is pretty.  She remembers Eduardo saying he is in love with her.

Julio has to use the restroom so he goes running and leaves the group.  Guido and Luigi are parked on the road and have on their clown masks.  They stick their heads out of both sides of the van and freak Julio out. He screams and runs back. In the mean time, Axel is trying to talk Linda to get back together with him again. She doesn't want anymore problems because they are cousins. She wants to concentrate on her work and her brother's foundation. Axel understands and admires her. He wants her to know he is sorry. He lost the best thing he ever had:  her love. Finally,  he tells her that he has matured a lot. Julio has arrived back on the scene with the news about the clowns. Axel writes him off saying he must have imagined it. Julio says he couldn't go to the washroom when he saw them.  Temo asks Julio if he is okay. No, Julio is not okay because the clowns are here and they want to kill them.  They all go running to see what he saw.  Guido revs the engine.

Neto asks Ariana to leave because they all have had enough for one day. She agrees but only has one question. Will they forgive her someday?

At school, Grecia thinks she sees Félix walking around with a knife in his hand.  She sees shoes,  jeans pass her room as  a hand bangs a knife on a wall outside. She panics.

Eugenio is still with Dani saying that the best therapy for him is the love of his family.   Dani gets a phone call from Carlos. He has something very important to tell her but it has to be in person.

All of the kids get bikes and decide to go investigate. Guido and Luigi are in the van watching and waiting for the kids to get to the road. Guido decides he wants to make one hit right down the middle.  He sees the kids, starts the van and speeds up as he aims for the them.  Fortunately, they all manage to get out of his way. No one is directly hit but Ari and Temo fall off of their bikes and roll down  an  embankment. Luigi tells Guido to step on it so they can get out of there.  Temo gets up with no problem but Ari is not so lucky.  Ari looks at his foot and ankle.  He is in pain.and is crying as everyone comes to his aid. Axel takes a look at his injury.

Neto tells Ariana it is better not to pressure the children right now.  They can talk another time. She asks if she can see them again. Neto reminds her that he has never stopped her from seeing them.  That was her decision. She goes on about hoping to see them real soon; how marvelous it is seeing their faces again; how much they have grown. Neto walks her to the door and she finally leaves. Neto promises  and swears to his kids it will all be okay.

Grecia calls the police to report a man wanting to attack her and asks that they send a patrol car..  When she takes a closer look, it is only Hugo. She tells the police it was a mistake on her part. She doesn't need a patrol car.  Hugo's ears perk up when he hears "patrol car".

Dani tells Carlos she can meet him for  a cup of hot chocolate at the bakery at about 7:00. That way she doesn't have to be far away from  the triplets.

Eugenio asks what that call was about. She says it was Carlos and she feels like he is interested in her.  Dani explains that she doesn't want to disrespect Gabriel's memory.  Eugenio thinks that Carlos could end up being a good friend.  He tells her to be careful until he clarifies his feelings. Dani thinks it is too soon to get involved with anyone.

Ari's ankle is badly bruised already.  Axel will try to immobilize it with a branch and a scarf. He tries to get Ari to calm down.

Back in the van, Luigi is telling Guido that he is nuts.  Guido doesn't like being called crazy.  Guido felt like he had to put an end to all of those idiots and there wasn't a scratch on any of them.  Luigi says they don't know what happened when they went over the embankment; with any luck they all died.  Guido can only hope so. Guido throws the clown masks out of the window.

Ari is in severe pain. Axel has decided to take him to the hospital and calls Pancho who is still talking with Susana.  Pancho leaves for the hospital. He will take care of it. Susana can stay at work. They are a team.

Back at Neto's, Andi has decided that he cannot forgive his mother. Yolo understands but doesn't know how he can be so hard on her. Andi says he can be because she is a mother who abandoned her own children. Neto doesn't want the situation to hurt anyone of  them any more than it has. It is complicated. He also has mixed feelings. Forgiving their mother might be a good thing.  They all need to take their time and think about it. They can talk to him about anything they want.  If they need professional help, he can call Grecia. That idea does not go over well with Yolo.   Neto says he can respect that.

¡Ay de mí! 😕 My audio from Uni was horrible. It was loud and then soft, back and forth for the whole episode. Anyway, the recap has been shaked and baked for tonight. I so enjoyed this episode. What a good mixture of good and evil; innocence and cunning; action and reflection. Okay, I think this was the third time Ari and Temo ALMOST kissed. It sure seems that the writers are playing with us at this point.
One good detail is that we found out that Ari is sixteen. Ariana was just as pathetic as Guido. Neither of them “need” a clown mask.
On we roll!

Jarifa, thank you so much for this great recap. Too bad you had audio problems; here in NY it was OK. It didn't stop you from producing another first rate recap.

I liked your titles, especially "There be clowns". Clowns are even worse than dragons, just ask Julio. I myself find most clowns creepy.

What happened with Yolo? She has been defending her mother all along, but now it's different?

Linda and Axel thrown together again... how exciting. OK, not really, but I am now curious to see what happens between them. Will there be some sort of Osorio PSA about degrees of consanguinity? (There's a word I don't use every day.)

Ever hear of genetic counseling, Dr Axel? I bet you two would get an OK. Like I said, I'm curious about where this is going, and I hope they don't just leave it unresolved.

Guido & Co. have to be found out soon. They are getting entirely too bold and now there will be investigations. I'm not sure what the clown mask thrown out the window will do, if anything. I also wonder if Dr Carlos has come up with some ideas beyond giving Dani a personal, non-professional exam. He told her he wanted to discuss it in person, but he didn't ask her to wear something sexy so I think he's actually sleuthing Gabriel's demise. (All the better to impress you, my dear.)

I'm looking forward to the next episode,

Andy

Fantastic Jarifa.
Strewn with gems including "ratón de dientes" (tooth mouse)”.

“Eugenio believes that memories are not only in the mind but when they are shared they are engraved on the soul”, “ There is more kaleidoscope and picnic time” and your perfect observation that “What a good mixture of good and evil; innocence and cunning; action and reflection” were excellent.

The scene with Neto, Ariana and the children was unbearably painful. Kudos to the actress playing Yolo, her grief was so palpable and so real, it had me cringing.
“Ariana knows her reason for leaving is not good enough but she felt like she was suffocating and had to get out of there”. Even though I am not a mother, I am a daughter, sister, niece and wife among other things. I’ve been through enough and known enough to understand there were other alternatives. You don’t fix yourself by breaking others. That said, I was surprised the children did not run into Ariana’s arms. Seeking shelter in Neto’s embrace showed how scarred they are. Just terrible.

"Ariana was just as pathetic as Guido. Neither of them “need” a clown mask". The children were lucky overall. I'm no Dr. Carlos but Ari's leg looked sprained not broken. That said, what do I know?

I loved Dani and Eugenio, the one bright spot last night. I would add Blanca's tutoring but it seems Polita isn't having much luck at anything these days.

As a child a hundred years ago, I recall happy clowns and sad clowns. I loved going to the circus and see the clown car where a dozen clowns would pop out of a tiny car. I could have blocked the memory out but I don't recall anything like the scary masks Guido and Luigi wore. Of course poor Julio had to see them.

And poor Grecia. I also thought it was Felix. I hope she tells Hugo the truth, she needs protection. 24/7.

andy, I never heard the word consanguinity. Thank you. I could have cut and pasted your entire wise comment but "...I think he's actually sleuthing Gabriel's demise. (All the better to impress you, my dear)" was particularly great.

I saw the most beautiful moon on the way to work this morning. It was huge, low hanging and tinged with a very pale orange. Made me feel very humble. Just awesome.

Speaking of awesome, thank you Jarifa. This was fabulous.

Diana

Jarifa: Those kids were lucky. Next time might be different.

Andy: I don't see Guido getting exposed anytime soon in our lifetime.

Thank you, Jarifa, for another great recap despite the loud\soft volume problem which must have been very annoying while trying to recap.

Andy...loved all your comments.

Diana, when Hub and I used to drive the 4miles to babysit at 6a.m. , the full moon was often low, and beautiful . Remember all our conversations about the strawberry moon and Kirby's lovely photos.

I am not a fan OF clowns...especially these particular clowns. Does anyone remember those clown paintings that were popular back in the day? I always thought.....why?

Susanlynn: Clowns are scary just like Pennywise in "It".

Susanlynn, yes the moon conversations were wonderful.

Kirby's utterly amazing shots always infused my day with happiness. We're not watching the same TN now, but I usually sneak a peek to see his avatars.

And laughingly, I couldn't agree more about the clown photos. They were everywhere years ago, some even on velvet!! :)

That said, I'm not criticizing. I collected trolls with the different colored hair back in the day although I stopped short of buying a pet rock! :)

Diana

Good morning Jarifa. Just amazed that you could write such a fine recap with the audio problems you were having last night. Extra kudos to you this morning.

This was a lovely line that Diana mentioned:

“Eugenio believes that memories are not only in the mind but when they are shared they are engraved on the soul”

However, sounds like the main action was the absent mother confrontation and the failed (thank goodness) clown massacre. I did find it very realistic that the reaction of the children varied from Yolo wanting her mother desperately to Andi, angry and holding back. I have three children and they all see the world differently and evaluate situations differently. I guess we all live in our own little reality though we think we share the same world.

Anyway, I'm sure the children will reach forgiveness in the end. That's such a recurrent theme in these stories. Although I remember one (where Diana Bracho played a wicked, wicked villain!) and at the end, when one of her victims told her she forgave her, Diana snapped "I DON'T CARE!" Wicked and unrepentant till the end.

Thanks as always for a great recap. Carpe Diem Patio, even if it IS cold. I think the lovely moon that our Diana saw is a good omen.

Thank you for your recap, Jarifa.

I look forward to watching this episode, in spite of the clowns. I do not like clowns. Or mimes. They just creep me out. Ew. 🤡

There is definitely a strong PSA on forgiveness getting cranked up here, with the Ariana/kids story. Its always a good lesson because it is more about the person who is forgiving than the recipient of forgiveness.

Will there be any future with Dani and Dr. Carlos? I hope so. With Dani it is not about "moving on", but about coping with her loss and moving forward with her life. I believe Gabe would want her to be happy and with someone who loves her. Gabe will always have a place in her heart and his spirit will always be with her, no matter what happens.

If Guido dos not receive a massive, satisfying anvil, I will be highly ticked off (to put it politely). Grrr.....

Good morning, all! Thank you for your kind comments. Being honest, I cannot wait until the next installment tonight.

You can thank these outstanding writers for the “shared memories being engraved on the soul” comment.

Andy, genetic counseling would be the perfect solution to the Axel/Linda pairing. One would think that Axel being a physician would have thought about that. It could be a PSA informing people about everything genetic counseling could offer. Looks like they missed at least one possible PSA unless it pops up later. Wonders never cease!

Diana, I loved the tale about the “ratón de dientes.” It was such an incredibly close exchange between father and daughter. It was nice seeing Dani smiling for once. I confess that I still have a ballerina troll on top of a music box that plays music from “Swan Lake.”

JudyB, since language is my profession/vocation and obsession with these novelas, the bad reception was just one more obstacle to overcome. I thought that the meeting with Ariana was very realistic and painful. This situation should serve as a PSA for birth control. Some people are not suitable to be parents. I agree with the “carpe diem” approach every day no matter what.

Susanlynn, the moon memories sound beautiful. “Why?” Is the perfect question for the clown paintings. Too funny.

Steve, Guido’s clown mask did have a Pennywise feel to it which made it all the creepier.

It looks like “Doña Flor y sus dos maridos” will follow this on 4/15. So we will be ending Friday April 12.

As of now, there will be no show on this Friday due to a Telethon. They seem to be going with a double episode of “La rosa de Guadalupe” and no telenovelas even though the telethon does not start until 9:00 central.

Doris, this was a very enjoyable episode. ITA that forgiveness is and has been a major theme of the novela. You are so right it is always more to the benefit of the “forgiven” than the “forgives”. I TA that Gabriel would want Dani to move on. I hope that Carlis sticks around for as long as it takes.

Correction: ForgiveR.

Correction “ForgiveE”. I have never been great on a keyboard. 😟

Does anyone feel this novela has gone off the tracks? I loved the first season ..now? Not as much. It feels we are bombarded with stinky feet, clowns, murderous cousins.. it’s gone from being a believable story,, but now?......I saw Premios Tv and Novelas. On Monday on Gordo and Flaco, they were commenting on Juan Osario’s disappointment that not ONE of his actors received any awards! 19 for Anar A Muerte won 19 out of 20 nominations! Maybe the public weren’t so happy how the novela took on a new twist. My opinion...

Anon, thanks for your opinion. That is all any of this comes down to is one’s taste and opinions. It seems that MMTMF never lost its first place in the ratings in Mexico in spite of the plot/character changes and extension so I can understand Juan Osorio’s surprise. That being said “Amar a muerte” was truly innovative, had an outstanding cast, and had top notch ratings also for it’s time slot. So, who knows? As for me, I do not even miss Robert and Julieta anymore and am hoping their eventual return does not come with their same old same old issues. Go figure! I never thought I would feel that way when they left the story.

"...Juan Osario’s disappointment that not ONE of his actors received any awards!"

Are there any award categories for product placement? He would have SWEPT those!

:-)

andy

andy - LOL about the product placement award category!

After watching this episode, I have to say the Ariana/Neto/kids scene was very well written, directed, and acted. The actress playing Yolo did a particularly outstanding job, IMHO.

I hated those clown masks. Guido's reminded me of The Joker.

So..We are all agreed....DON'T send in the clowns.

Judyb...I once read that "everybody has his or her own reality. " It was an epiphany for me. It is true.

Jarifa, if you don't mind me asking..what is your vocation? If you do not want to share..no problem. I am just curious.

Thanks, Jarifa. Fab job.

I was never afraid of clowns until I saw Stephen King's It.

I have sympathy for Neto's wife. She hurt her family horribly, but she doesn't seem evil to me. Rather than abandon, she should've gotten counseling. Wonder if there was another man when she left Neto.

And she's gorgeous. That won't help Grecia's anxiety.

Jarifa, so you don't miss Robert and Julieta any more? Neither do I. Now I don't feel so guilty about it. :D

It went off the rails when Guido went full psychopath & started a massive Body Count.

Susanlynn, I just laughed out loud at "So..We are all agreed....DON'T send in the clowns". HA!

Niecie, I have a feeling Ariana left for money and a man. And yes, she is beautiful which will only add to Grecia's anxiety. I wondered for a brief moment about Grecia and Hugo. Hmmm. That would pave the way for Neto and Ariana to get back together. I don't want them to but...

Diana

Diana, I don't know. Have we seen Hugo's Diana actually leave with all her worldly possessions in a small suitcase yet? (Kirby would know.)

If not, they may get together again. But if she has really left, you're right, two boys, two girls, divide 'em up however.

Showtime!
