Mi marido tiene más familia Wednesday 3/20/19 Capítulo 130 The Power of the Mustache--OR--Two Panchos are Better than One

Ari is off to surgery on his torn Achilles tendon.

Neto has a heart to heart conversation with Yolo.  He respects her decision to forgive her mother  but he doesn't want Ariana back in their lives full-time.  He needs to find out a few things like how she found out where they were and how long she is planning on staying. Yolo sees no need for any answers. She is just happy her mother is back.   Neto tries to explain that he doesn't want the kids hoping in vain because he doesn't want them to end up suffering one more time.   Yolo only sees that her mother wants to spend time with them. Neto understands that but she cannot forget that her mother betrayed them once.  The twins come out as Yolo expresses her exasperation with their father.  Neto wants them all to know he is only looking out for their heart and feelings. He is keeping a distance from Ariana because he has no intention of getting back together with her.  Yolo says they already know that but wants to invite her to dinner. Neto says the answer is "NO" to that until they find out the whole story about Ariana's return. Until then, all contact with Ariana will  be through him. That is the final word on the subject. Yolo is not pleased.

Dani tries to comfort Blanca explaining that Eugenio is not expressing his real feelings; it is just the illness affecting his mind.  Blanca realizes he would be forgetting things but he is forgetting their love story.  Dani reassures her that  their story is in his heart.  Dani tries to explain about  how unpredictable Alzhiemer's disease is.  Blanca understands but it is so hard not to take it personally. Dani says they will all live in her dad's heart until the day it stops beating.

Eugenio is confused talking to Linda and Frida. Part of him knows he is married to Blanca but he doesn't understand why he doesn't remember.  He cries and gets angry out of frustration.  Frida tries to make him feel better by them all giving themselves the "butterfly" hug she showed him.  She then sings with him. Linda encourages him to remember his story with Blanca.  Eugenio remembers how Blanca had on a simple dress but her hair was so beautiful at their wedding.  Linda and Imelda help him fill in the details. The next thing they are all talking about pan de frijol.  He doesn't remember how to make it any more.  They all decide to bake it together.

Pancho, Temo and Polita await Ari's return  from surgery in his room.  Pancho and Polita have a lot of faith that it will all turn out okay for Ari.  Pancho leaves Temo and Polita alone and they agree to pray together.

Eugenio is making pan de frijol with Linda and Frida in the kitchen as Imelda watches on. He is the same old Eugenio when Dani and Blanca come back.  He says  like all great breads their  marriage  has remained fresh  and comforting.  He greets "his" Blanca with great sadness in his eyes. He kisses her forehead as she tells him it is good to have him back and pats his face.  Blanca and Dani are  off to the hospital to check on Ari.

Susana agrees with Pancho that they have to support Ari. She asks if it is okay for her to go to the hospital.  Pancho asks why not since she is a part of the family. He will check on Julio and Sebas who have had a hard day.  Susana is at a loss for who would have wanted to hurt them. Pancho has no idea. He only knows he had a bad feeling. Sebas and Julio come down and ask how Ari is. Pancho explains about his long and difficult surgery and if all goes well, he will be able to move his foot as he always did.   Lupita wants to write him letters. Sebas says the "united kids" will never be separated.

Later, Pancho is shaving.  Lupita comes into the bathroom to show him her letter for Ari.  He is so intent on paying attention to her, he starts to shave off his mustache without really thinking about what he is doing. He screams in horror.  Half of his mustache is missing! Sebas, Julio and Susana come running to see what has happened. They all scream "No manches!" ("NoWay!" ) in unison.

Crisanta is talking with Neto at her home about buying the bar/restaurant where he works. She would be looking for people with experience. He would love to be a part of it and  mentions he did manage Massimo's business.  When Crisanta hears "Massimo" she asks Neto not to mention his name again. Her vision is that the business would be a cool place featuring food and drink from Oaxaca where everyone would be welcome.  What does Neto think?  Neto loves the concept but asks if she does not already own a store.  Yes, but she is looking for adventures.  Neto thinks that sometimes we can find what we are looking for in what we already have. That being said he would love to see her manage but he really wants her to think about what he said. Grecia comes in and thanks  Neto for helping her so much. They hold hands. Crisata notices and wonders what she missed.  Grecia beats Neto to the punch and blurts out that she and Neto are novios. Crisanta is happy for them.

Back at Susana's,  everyone experiences a new Pancho.  The cutting off of half of his mustache has had an unexpected result. He now has TWO personalities corresponding to both sides of his face: one without  the mustache that is a  stodgy, very proper Francisco and one with the mustache that is the loquacious,  free-wheeling Pancho.

At the hospital Blanca comforts Polita and Dani comforts Temo.  Temo thinks it is all his fault. Dani explains it could have happened to anyone. There are bad people out there.  Their love will carry them through. Polita is worried about the  general anesthesia.  Dani tells her not to think about it since the surgery is something that had to be done.  Polita is still worried about the cost of it all. Pancho offered to pay but she plans of paying him back. Her debts are never ending.  Eduardo is there at the hospital, too, smiling at Polita from the nurses' station.  Pablo sees Dani and asks why she is at the hospital. She explains about Ari's accident.

Yolo continues her manipulation of Frida to preserve her silence by giving her a makeup lesson. In the meantime, Guido texts Yolo Ariana's phone number. Frida is so excited and grateful that she and Yolo are cousins and that they both have Imelda's light eyes. Yolo thinks she got her light eyes from her mother.  Frida wants to know all about Yolo's mother. Yolo admits to  not sure how she feels about her mother being back.  Frida explains that her mom is on tour with Xavi Galán. She misses her, too.  Yolo says things could have been so much better to have their mothers with them; to guide them; to be "their" home.

Pancho is in his living room being a "one man show"  with his new split personality. Pancho has to explain everything that Francisco says to the kids, Susana and Crisanta and vice versa.  (For example, Pancho says "No manches"  an idiom for "No way" but literally meaning "Don't get dirty" Francisco says "No ensucies" which is another way of saying "Don't get dirty." That is why Susana looks like she cannot believe what she has heard at the end of the scene.)

Carlos offers to monitor Ari's progress for Dani.  She thanks him. He understands how difficult times like these are.

Neto is unburdening himself to Grecia about the children deciding if they want a relationship with their mother. If they do, then he and Grecia will have to get along with her. Grecia asks if he is sure that he no longer feels anything for Ariana. Neto does not feel anything for her. He feels at peace because he has turned the page. Grecia smiles. Grecia is his present and he wants to write a new story with her. Now with Félix behind bars, they have a clear road ahead.

Ariana has gone to Neto's on the sly because Yolo called her to come over. Ariana is worried about Neto's reaction because she didn't check it out with him. Yolo doesn't care. She thinks Neto gets angry over everything. She knows he prefers the twins over her.  Ariana says that Neto loves them all the same. Neto suddenly comes home and asks Ariana what she is doing there.   Yolo starts to tell the truth but Ariana cuts her off and says she  came to see her daughter without notifying him.  She knocked on the door. Neto asks where the twins are. They are with Frida at the Córcega's. Neto informs Ariana that he will never keep her away from her children but it cannot be like this. She has to let him know ahead of time. She says this won't happen again.   She asks Neto is he wants to stay and talk with her and Yolo. He chooses to give them their space. He is going to the Córcega's for the twins and to visit his dad.  Ariana wonders what he means about "his dad". Neto says Yolo can explain that all. He leaves. Yolo expresses how she how much she missed her mother. It was as if a part of their family was gone.  She describers how miserable she felt when her mother left and when they were deported. Yolo still doesn't understand why her mother left with no explanations.  She and her mother were so close.  Ariana confesses that she left because she was selfish but she is not that way anymore. She would never leave her children again. Ariana knows how hard it will be for Yolo to forgive her. Ariana is going try to make up the time they lost. They can  be friends. Yolo wants that, too.  Ariana tells her daughter what a beautiful teenager she has turned out to be. She want to know all about Yolo: what makes her happy, what makes her sad, if somebody likes her . . . Ariana admits that she lost so much.  They missed each other so much. Yolo gives her mother the forgiveness she asks for and they hug.

Pancho takes his "two man show" to the hospital.  Francisco without the mustache  asks Blanca how the young  Córcega (Ari) is doing. Blanca is surprised and confused to say the least but he does speak English pretty well.  He covers the shaved side and talks like the old Pancho. Blanca looks disturbed as she goes to talk to Polita.  Axel comes out with news. The damage to the Achilles tendon was worse than expected but the operation was a success. The bottom line is that it will be months until Ari will be walking normally. Everyone is upset it is going to take so long.

Luigi is upset with Guido. Guido tells him to calm down. Nobody is around with Nonno chasing after Imelda. Luigi wants to know what now?  Ari wasn't supposed to be one of the victims. Guido sees the attack against Ari as just the start and they have more victims to go.  Luigi wants to know when he s going to tell Neto  that he is not Eugenio's son.  Guido wants to wait until both Eugenio and  Neto love each other so much  that it will destroy them both knowing they are nothing to each other.

Neto goes to see Eugenio. It still feels odd coming into his apartment to see his father.  Eugenio is happy having Neto so close. Neto talks about always having imagined doing things with his father like  playing soccer.  They decide to arrange a soccer game with Frida and the twins against Neto and Eugenio.

Guido tells Luigi that the Córcega's will realize that family does nothing but generate suffering. The people we love only cause us pain. They will learn that "family" is a lie.

Polita insists there must be a way for Ari to walk sooner.  Axel explains that the only way is going to be through extensive physical therapy.  Polita and Temo promise to help. Axel warns them that even with the therapy, Ari may not have the mobility that he had before.  Polita and Temo are upset.

Guido sits at the piano expounding about how human beings always want to belong; be a part of a group; a family. He chuckles. Luigi watches. In reality a family pays no attention to you; it abandons you; it dies on you. Guido explains that he doesn't belong in spite of what his Nonno did. As for Neto,  he always wanted Eugenio to be his father. He accepted blindly that Eugenio was his father. He has no idea that the connection does not exist. The "family" is the biggest lie that could ever exist.

The soccer game is set for tomorrow.  Eugenio jokes about what position he will have in his wheel chair. Eugenio is happy to get to know them. He hopes to spend time with Yolo, too. Neto explains how Yolo is reconnecting with her mother but there will be time later.

Yolo was waiting for a hug from her mother for so long.  Her mother has no idea of how much she needed it. She is so happy that her mother didn't forget her. Yolo never wants to let her go or for the hug to be over.  Yolo doesn't want her to leave. Ariana tells her she will never go away again. Yolo asks her to promise. Ariana promises her.

While Frida takes the twins in the kitchen for some of the family tradition of pan de frijol,  Eugenio talks with Neto and wants to know what is wrong. Neto explains about his ex Ariana having come back.  Neto is worried that Yolo will reconnect with her mother and will end up going back to the USA with her or somewhere else.  Yolo is living in Mexico by force only. He doesn't want to lose his daughter. Eugenio understands but remembers what his daughter-in-law Julieta told him before she left on a trip: We may go wherever we go, but family is the place we always come back to.  He adds that his daughter might be confused or blinded by many things but she will end up realizing that her family is with Neto and her brothers. He also hopes she will come to realize that the Córcega's love her as family, too. Neto has given his kids a lot of love and he knows that is love is not forgotten. Eugenio has learned the same thing through his Alzheimer's. Eugenio will be there for Neto as long as his life allows him to be. Imelda sees them and smiles.

Linda thanks Axel for all of his work on Axel's surgery. Axel reminds her that Ari is also part of his family, too and he did it wholeheartedly. Axel thinks that Ari will be okay if he does all of the hard work of therapy.  Axel tells Linda  he knows he made a lot of mistakes before with her but she doesn't need to have any doubts about him now.  He is a good person.  He also doesn't want her to have any doubts about her being the only woman he has ever loved. He excuses himself and leaves Linda standing alone.

Imelda wants to apologize to Eugenio and Neto.

Ari awakens after surgery and wants to know how it went. Polita tells him that he is facing several months of physical therapy. He just closes his eyes.

Imelda apologizes to Neto and Eugenio for her decision so many years ago because she now sees all of the damage it caused. It wasn't her intention that they be kept apart for so many years but circumstances forced her to make hasty decisions. She always  wondered if there cold be one more Córcega out there and there was.  She doesn't expect Neto to love her because that is earned day by day. She only hopes he doesn't hate her. Neto says that destiny brought them together in a very strange way but made them the people they are today. Neto states that she is his grandmother and they have the same blood. He wants to be a part of this great family. Imelda cries from joy. She is so sorry.

Yolo wants to spend as much time possible with her mother.  Ariana agrees. Yolo wants to know how long her mother plans to be in Oaxaca. Ariana is not sure. She guesses it will be as long as it takes to reconnect with her and the twins but sooner for later she will have to go back the USA. Yolo volunteers to go back with her. Amalia looks slightly surprised.

Audifaz goes to knock on Blanca's door. Neto is opening the door and Audi knocks on his head.  Audi excuses himself and apologizes. Neto tells Audi that he  knows all about him and his mother and that he is not judging him. Neto is a Córcega and Audi is his uncle. Audi answers that  he is his nephew and apologizes again. Neto says he doesn't want to stick his nose in Audi's business, but in case he doesn't know, he needs to go see his son because Ari had an accident and is in the hospital.

Ari asks if after the physical therapy he will be in perfect condition. Polita says they aren't sure. Temo says loads of people walk again after this kind of surgery but Ari will have to do his physical therapy.  Temo has no doubts he will be okay.  Blanca tells them to depend on each other. She explains she had no ideas about same sex couples but times change and nobody can close themselves off from love. Temo says he and Ari wanted to change opinions. Blanca says they have been successful because as far as she is concerned: Love is love. Polita  thanks her for saying that. Temo doesn't know how important it is for him  to hear that from Blanca because they haven't had it easy with Audi. Ari also includes Imelda.  Blanca says that very Imelda has made her the head of the family and as the guide of that"ship, " Blanca is going to have the family "navigate" in a more loving and peaceful way.  Blanca then tells Ari to fight  so they all arrive at  a good port together.  Ari tells Auntie Blanca that she is right. He will fight. People  who have been in worse accidents than he recuperate all the time. He will do what it takes and with all of their help, he will be standing again.

It seemed like there were going to be more sound problems tonight but it did clear up after a while. Of course, my favorite part was Pancho and his mustache adventure and all of the wordplay. This episode needed some lightheartedness. I am really bothered by Yolo dragging impressionable Frida into her shady dealings lying about Guido. At this point, i would be happy to see Yolo leave in the middle of the night with both her mother and crazy Guido. Btw, I do not truss Ariana at all. That is all for now.

Btw, I do not trusT. I was too lazy to repost the whole comment.☺️

Jarifa, many thanks for a great recap. I looked at your comments first and got a laugh. So, you claim to be too lazy to redo your comment yet you managed to do a long and excellent recap. That just made me smile.

:-)

Thanks also for "No manches!" I didn't get that at all.

I thought Yolo and Frida were cute together. True, Yolo wants to keep Frida from spilling the beans, but I think they were getting along and bonding. I also thought Ariana came off OK. Interesting, at first Susana was very off-putting then turned out very likable. I think Yolo is doing the same thing, she seems nicer all the time.

Ari and Temo, meh.

Guido and Luigi, double meh.

Neto and Grecia, much more fun.

I'm glad that Eugenio is back, at least for now. Poor Blanca.

Jarifa: Wake me up when Yolo gets a BIGLY anvil.

Jarifa, thanks for the excellent recap and added explanations.

I wanted to see how Eugenio was doing; glad he's back from his lapse. My heart breaks for Blanca.

Andy, you made me laugh at myself. I never thought of my comment that way. Anyway, there was a lot of “meh” in this episode. That is why Pancho was such a treat for me. As for “no manches” , the writing is so rich in this novela that I hate to see the jokes fly by and perhaps get lost in the shuffle.

RgvChick, I agree. They have made Blanca into a such strong character forged through tragedy, it’s almost too much to see a tragedy of this magnitude visited upon her again.

Thanks Jarifa.Very cute titles...both.

Well amidst all the PSA's and product placements, this show is sticking with its basic message...love is love and family unity is everything. So there is going to have to be some fancy footwork on the part of some characters to make this all "jell" at the end. Will be interesting to watch. All I know is that watching this show makes me hungry...the screen shots of the fabulous street food are to die for...

Speaking of....have you ever eaten "pan de frijol"? I can't imagine what that would be. Maybe I need to do some internet sleuthing.

Happy Thursday everybody. Kind of a draggy day here. Rain and gray skies. Hoping to take a walk later but right now it does not look promising.

Thank you, Jarifa, for yet another excellent retelling. The writers are really heaping the troubles into poor Blanca.

Loved all the thoughts shared by the patio members, too.

Gray and raining all day here, too. Hopefully no rain for tomorrow and the weekend and 60 predicted for Sunday.

Just ended a video chat with my older daughter , and now I have to get ready to go to my younger daughter's for dinner.

JudyB, I have never seen pan de frijol in the panaderías around here but none of them advertise being Oaxacan eventhough one does have the same signage as Eugenio’s bakery of a person on a bike with a basket of pan on his head. I sure did a double take when I saw that.

Susanlynn, one thing about Blanca is that I (think) know she will end up being just fine. Cold and grey here today. Mid 40’s.Your daughter making you dinner sounds like a real treat!

Well when I researched it a bit on the internet, it sounded yummy. And it has other ingredients like cheese and green chiles. Verrry interesting.

JudyB, that does sound good.

Sorry to be so late. I was at the hospital (for meetings thankfully as opposed to being IN the hospital) sigh.

Jarifa, you've outdone yourself.

"No manches!" ("NoWay!" ) and “stodgy, very proper Francisco and one with the mustache that is the loquacious, free-wheeling Pancho”. Perfection.

“Dani says they will all live in her dad's heart until the day it stops beating” and “He says like all great breads their marriage has remained fresh and comforting” were sweet and uplifting.

“Yolo continues her manipulation of Frida to preserve her silence by giving her a makeup lesson”. Yes, Yolo is playing Frida like a fiddle.

“Eduardo is there at the hospital, too, smiling at Polita from the nurses' station”. The ghost to her Mrs. Muir.

“Imelda cries from joy. She is so sorry”. Empty words.

I was sort of thinking Ariana seems sincere (?) But then again I'd hate to ruin my track record of getting everything wrong :)

You've lightened a long day Jarifa. Thank you, thank you!

Diana

Diana, the writers have been on a roll with this novela. Your "The ghost to her Mrs.Muir": perfect. Yes, the Imelda apology scene didn't do much for me either. As for Amalia, I don't know. She had sort of a curious look on her face when Yolo talked about going back to the USA with her. Maybe I am just reading things into it because I disliked her from the get go for leaving her kids.

Wonder what Ariana is up to in the States. Something criminal? A wealthy 2nd husband or lover? Could be anything.

You said it, Span Prof.

Thank you for your recap, Jarifa!

The jury is still out with me, as far as Ariana goes. I do not trust her.

JudyB - I've never eaten pan de frijol, but some 25+ years ago, I occasionally made biscuits with bean flour mixed with regular flour, for the protein content. Back in my healthy eating daze.

Ah those "healthy eating" days when we thought we had to up, up up the protein. Then came the carbohydrate-loading, and then...well, let's just throw up our hands now. In the end though, I think mom was right. Eat your vegetables and just get on with life.

Judyb...so true. My mother used to say, "everything in moderation". She smoked, never exercised, didn't eat healthy, and had a rather negative disposition....and lived to be 90. It is often the luck of the draw.

I don’t know why but Ariana is always Amalia in my brain.

Thanks, Jarifa.

Pancho mustache split personality too funny.

Will Ariana disappoint me and turn out to be a snake in the grass?

Niecie, if you like slapstick, the Pancho ‘stache schtick was the best.

Almost showtime!
