MIRADA
Ep 30: Part 1 Snakes in the Grass Prepare Their Pit

*Beto and Vanesa are ready to leave when Hortencia rushes in and tells them that Su is in a panic because she can’t find a bracelet. They all rush to Su’s bedroom where Su pretends to be frantically looking for her bracelet…and she won’t leave without it! When alone with Vanesa, Su tells Vanesa to follow her lead. Vanesa is confused so Su explains that she found out that Beto didn’t break up with Marina so they need to stay there. Vanesa thinks they should just leave, but Su won’t have it; she won’t leave there until Beto’s relationship with Marina is ended.

*Marina helps Damiana to recover her strength in her hands. Baldo is there and is nervous as he tells Marina that Damiana finally accepted to be his novia. He wonders if Damiana will want him to go to the city with her. He won’t be relying on them since he can sell off his assets and live off of that. Marina points out that they shouldn’t be in a rush since Beto still needs to get settled and Dami has to recover some more. Baldo can wait since he has waited this long.

*Doc tells Ramona that no one was at Marina’s house. Ramona suggests that Beto may have taken her to get examined again. Doc will check again the next day, but goes out to continue looking for Marina.

*Horti cries because she thinks she will be accused of taking the bracelet. Angsty and Pru arrive and are told that Su won’t be leaving because her bracelet are missing.

*Su cries because she won’t leave without her bracelet. Beto tells them that he needs to leave so he says his good-bye.

*Don L calls Margarito for an update. After Margo tells him that all is well, he asks Don L about Zackrat; so Don L confirms that he gave Zackrat permission to leave. Margo then tells Don L that Dami and Marina have vacated the house and that they are staying with Baldo.

*Su tells Vanesa that her plan is to make sure that Marina knows that she does not belong in that house. When Vanesa points out that Marina will not go live there, Su assures her that she will think of something.

*Vanesa goes to see Pru and tells her that she is glad that they didn’t leave after all because they never finished their conversation. Vanesa assures Pru that she won’t hound Beto; if he comes back to her,it will have to be because he misses her and figures out that she is the woman for him…that is why she is requesting to stay there until Beto returns. Pru gladly agrees.

*Angsty goes to see Marina to give her the money Beto left her, but Marina won’t accept it …she doesn’t need it. Angsty admires her integrity.

*Baldo (finally) asks Damiana what happened. Dami tells him it was Zackrat who attacked her. Baldo wants to report him, but Dami worries about Marina.

*Pru talks to Don L who has to stay away longer because of business. After she hangs up, she tells Hortencia that she forgot to tell him about su and Vanesa staying. Horti comments that it doesn’t really matter since it’s like Su and Vanesa are not even there…they spend all their time in their rooms anyway.

*Tori arrives, so Angsty asks to go see Dami. When she enters, Baldo gives them some privacy. Once alone, Angsty knows what Dami must think of her for still keeping the truth about Marina. She worries about what Don L would do since he hates Marina and thinks he would blame Pru for everything and leave her. When Dami mentions that Zackrat was the one who attacked her, Angsty admits that she knows that Don L ordered him to go harass them into leaving, but Don L didn’t think Zackrat would get violent (Wrong!). Dami then suggests that Don L needs to know that Marina is his daughter, but Angsty doesn’t think that is the right thing to do. She can’t reveal the truth just as Dami can’t tell anyone that it was Don L who ordered Zackrat to throw them out. They need to help Beto and Marina have a less bumpy road.

MIRADA
Ep 30: Part 2 Snakes in the Grass Prepare Their Pit

*Su discusses her plan with Vanesa. Pru is the only one who could convince Marina to come stay at the ranch. Later, Su is looking for Angsty when Dr. Bazán calls and asks for Beto. After Su tells him he isn’t there, Doc B leaves a message for Beto that he has returned and is ready to examine Marina. Su assures him that she will give him the message (as her forked tongue flaps).

*Before Angsty leaves, she asks Marina when she will be by the ranch. Marina isn’t sure, especially after everything Pru told her, but Angsty tells her that Pru is very sorry about it. It would give Pru an opportunity to apologize if Marina went to the ranch.

*Su and Pru talk. Pru tells her that Beto will not be getting back with Vanesa since Beto is still with Marina.

*Damiana is at the table eating and looking much better. Marina offers to help her go change her clothes, but Dami tells her she can manage on her own. .

*Su chides Pru for not telling her about Beto sooner. Pru thought Vanesa could return to the city and go on with her life. Su feels sorry for Van since she had so many hopes after they thought Beto had broken up with the blind one. Su berates Marina for going back on her word and not breaking up with Beto; so Pru tells Su that it was Beto’s decision to continue with his relationship…she just hopes that their love is strong enough to withstand everything that is coming.

*Dami tells Baldo that Angsty convinced her to keep quiet and adds that it was Don L who sent Zack to throw them out. Baldo understands why Dami needs to keep quiet and worries about when Beto finds out. He is glad Beto and Marina are now married.

*Van is enjoying a conversation on her phone when Su comes in and tell hers she needs to continue her act. Vanesa thinks Su should just accept that Beto loves Marina, but Su emphasizes that they need the Ocarranza money.

*Beto and Eric talk. Eric wonders if Beto will be able to adapt to a more humble life.

*Vanesa goes to Pru and puts on a long face. She doesn’t understand how Beto could choose Marina over her; she tried to be understanding, but everything ended with Beto within a few days. She asks Pru to ask Marina to come live at the ranch for a few days.

*Marina and Beto talk on the phone. Beto shares that the “real” life is not as easy.

*Pru wants to know why Vanesa would want Mari to come live at the ranch. Vanesa just wants to get to know Mari so she can see what Beto sees in her. After Vanesa leaves Pru tells Angsty that she already told Su and Vanesa about Beto and Marina since she doesn’t want them to continue having hopes for anything else. She then asks Angsty if she thinks Marina would want to come live there for a few days. Angsty thinks it could be a good idea. It would give Pru a chance to make amends with Marina and she could apologize for what she said to her. Pru thinks Vanesa will suffer and Angsty advises that she’ll have to talk to Su and tell her to hold her tongue (good luck with that!). Angsty points out that Beto would be impressed if she tried to get close to Marina. Pru isn’t sure, so Angsty asks her what her heart is telling her.

*Lino finds out from Erasmo that Su and Vanesa didn’t leave after all.

*Ramona suggests to Doc Mask that Marina might have gone to the city with Beto; so he tells her that Beto and Marina broke up. He then orders her to go to town and ask around about where Marina might be.

MIRADA
Ep 30: Part 3 Snakes in the Grass Prepare Their Pit

*Pru goes to visit Marina and apologizes. Outside, Tori wonders why Baldo allowed Pru to go in; Baldo thinks that Pru didn’t look like she would be confrontational. Inside, Marina tells Prut ha she has nothing to be sorry for since she was raised to believe that water and oil don’t mix. Pru agrees and adds that is why she is surprised that Beto fell in love with her. Mari tells him that love knows no social boundaries. She explains that she is like any other woman…except that she is blind and in love withher son. Pru wants to get to know her better.

*At the ranch, Horti cries to Vanesa that she didn’t take the bracelet; she is afraid that her mother will accuse her. After Vanesa assures her not to worry, Lino shows up so Horti leaves them alone. When Lino asks about her trip, Vanesa tells him that if she stayed it was because she had to; he shouldn’t get any ideas. After Lino responds that he doesn’t care if she stays or leaves, he tells Vanesa to tell her mother that they have looked for her bracelet and haven’t found it (Good one, Lino! Stay strong!). Vanesa pouts.

*Marina tells Pru that she would like the opportunity to show them who she is. She doesn’t care about the money or name; she just wants to support him in whatever he wants to do. Marina then tells her that she did everything she could to break up with Beto, but Pru interrupts and tells her that she knows because Beto told her how he had to plead with her to stay with him.

*Tori tries to listen but can’t hear anything. Suddenly Doc shows up and asks for Dmai and Marina are at his house. Baldo tells them they are at their house, but Doc points out that no one is at the house. So Baldo tells him that they left, but he won’t give him any other info to those who hurt his friends... and Marina doesn’t need his help for anything. Doc leaves, and Tori is glad Baldo didn’t tell him anything.

*Marina forgives Pru; she knows Pru was doing it out of love. Marina shares that she is going to study and have a career so that they can be proud of her…she will also help Beto achieve his own goals. Pru then asks Mari to go spend some time at her house. Mari worries about Dami so Pru tells her that both of them can go. Pru then asks if they know what happened to Dami; so Mari tells her that they think she fell, but Tori thinks someone attacked her. All the while, Dami has been listening.

*Pru leaves and goes to tell Angsty that Marina will think about her proposal. When she wonders why Dami hasn’t said that someone attacked her, Angsty thinks that Dami might be wanting to avoid any more problems for Beto and Marina.

*Marino asks Dami if she heard what Pru said. After Dami confirms that she did, Mari asks what she thinks about it…Pru sounded very sincere. Dami tells her that they will go.

*Yola and Lino talk; Lino agrees to meet Yola’s friend.

*Beto talks to Eric’s dad who tells him they won’t be able to help him with his specialized area. Beto understands and is willing to give up his specialty area for a while. Eric’s dad tells him that he appreciates everything Beto did for his son, but he will have to meet all the requirements and take an aptitude test just like all the other candidates for the job…who have more experience than Beto. Beto will only have two days to prepare, but he will give it his all.

*Baldo is inside with Marina who asks to borrow his phone. Meanwhile, at the ranch, Hortencia cleans when Marina calls and asks for Pru.

Thank you, Rgv Chick, for your recap!

Vane was funny when she was trying to calm Hortencia, saying Su might have Alzheimer's and forgot she left the bracelet. I felt so badly for Horti.

I'm glad Baldo knows it was Zackrat who attacked Dami, and on the Louse's orders.

Vanessa's hair continues to amaze me. It's all I can look at in her scenes. LOL Is it all real?

Will Dami insist Marina wear ... the earrings! ... when they stay at the big house? Must see TV!

* One thing that has bothered me since last week is how Marina went off and got married without waiting for Damiana to recover first so that she could attend and be a part of it. That just seems ... odd.

DOÑA FLOR
Ep 10, Part 1: Paybacks and the Best of Plans Backfire

*At Casa Rosa, Chile is freaking out because he is seeing the doors swinging and hearing his name being called out. As he whizzes outta there, he passes right through ValdeGhost who is flabbergasted that Chile went right through him.

*Oscar brings Val to town and they sit in the patio of a restaurant. Oscar uses his fatherly tone when he tells Val that Flor is an incredible woman. Val agrees and adds that there is no one else that is as good as Flor. Oscar responds that that is why Teo loved her so much…to the point that he had to leave. Val thinks it is good for him that Teo left and promises to make Flor the happiest woman in the world. After Oscar leaves, Val gets nauseated and, as he throws up in a trashcan, he finds the clothes that were stolen from him and Flor at the beach. Just then, Chile runs up to him telling him that they scared him out of his wits at Casa Rosa. They soon arrive at Mariana’s house and Chile shows them how he is shaking of fright. He asks if he can stay there…he is willing to take any little corner because someone is trying to contact him from beyond.

*Flor takes Val into the bedroom and scolds him for coming back all stinky and hung over. As she tells him that she doesn’t like what’s happening, he hands her some wads of money…his investments are improving and paid off. He starts kissing her and wants to dance, but Flor tells him he is to go to sleep and get over his drunken stupor. She’ll consider being nice to him tomorrow if he behaves. When he asks for Chile, Flor responds that Chile will be staying there, but he’d better help Mariana because she is out of work and it’s her (Flor’s) fault.

Next Day—

*After he takes a bath, Val goes to Flor who is sleeping and wakes her up with kisses. Flor smiles and tells him she had a sweet dream—they had a little Florecito; Val would like a little Valentina, but they need to practice baby-making a lot…so they start practicing.

*At a school, a young woman named Elsa (but it’s Yola from “Sin Tu Mirada!) walks with her little son Diego who got suspended from school for fighting because the kids were making fun of him. When Elsa wonders what she is going to do with him, Diego suggests that they go look for his father…everyone seems to have a father, except him. Diego wants to know why his father forgot about him. Elsa tells him that his father is hard to find. Later, Elsa assures the teacher that Diego won’t get into trouble again; he just doesn’t like it when others bring up his dad. When Elsa goes back to Diego, he asks if he looks like his father. Elsa replies that he looks somewhat like him. She then adds that if she waits longer it might be worse and she doesn’t want him having that void…so they are going to look for his dad. (This scene made no sense…right now; maybe later we’ll find out that Val, Chile or some other key character is the father????)

*Val goes to see Marga. He offers to repair her plumbing, and he is does, he hands her part of the money for the house. Marga takes the money, but hopes it’s not dirty money. When Val asks why she has to be so bitter, Marga runs him off. As he leaves, Val reminds her to call him if she needs help.

*Val walks with Chile who thinks that Marga is bitter because she hasn’t had a man in years…when she finds someone, her bitterness will go away. Val thinks Chile is right and tells Chile that he can be the man Marga needs. Chile argues, but Val thinks Flor will be very happy and grateful to him if he makes her mother happy.

DOÑA FLOR
Ep 10, Part 2: Paybacks and the Best of Plans Backfire

*Now at Casa Rosa, Flor can’t believe Marga took the money without argument; she must not be feeling well. Flor and Val go out into the patio where Flor thanks Mariana, Aure and Chile for all their help. As they uncover a bundle of materials, Samantha passes by and sees them.

*Rose points out to Marga that Flor was able to give them a payment when Marga thought she wouldn’t be able to. After Marga assures Rose that Flor won’t be able to come up with the rest of the money, Rose emphasizes that if Flor does come up with the money, they will lose the house.

*Out on the street, Mariana, Aure, Flor and Val are ready to go their separate ways to go get what is needed for the house…while Chile is blessing the house. As Flor and Mariana walk away, Samantha approaches them and invites them to a class for entrepreneurs…the first class is free. Val watches and worries as Flor and Mari agree to go to the class. Chile teases Val since he recognizes Samantha and knows she has the hots for Val. Val comments that he has been trying to avoid that “problem” but it seems he won’t be able to get away from her.

*During the next few days, Val goes with Samantha and continues to find excuses for not following through; Mariana and Flor go to the entrepreneur class; Flor and Val practice their baby-making; they continue to work on Casa Rosa; and Val continues his cheating at the casino.

*Everyone is working on the house except for Val. Flor asks Chile where Val is, but Chile covers for Val as he looks in his pockets pretending to look for Val and tells her he doesn’t know. Meanwhile, Val is with Samantha in a bedroom. He goes to the bathroom, purposefully bangs his head hard on the wall and shouts out in pain. Later, Samantha drops him off in town. Later, later… Flor wonders what happened to Val’s head.

Next Day—

*After Val lists some of the things that still need to be repaired at the house, Flor looks at him and smiles. She likes to hear him to talk about repairing the house….and asks him if he can spare a few minutes so they can practice their baby-making again. Meanwhile, Samantha gets frustrated because Val hasn’t shown up.
*Flor goes to see Dr. Mica for a checkup and asks for Teo. After Mica gives her an update and tells her that Teo is happy and excited about his specialty, Flor asks her for Teo’s phone number so she can write to him, but Mica refuses because Teo was in bad shape when he left…and it was because of Flor.

*Val and Chile are at the casino when Val sees Samantha. As he walks toward her, two goons approach and grab him as Samantha watches with a “You’re gonna get it now” look. The goons take Val and Chile to Octavio who demands his money since they have been cheating all along. Val denies everything, but when threatened to be waterboarded, Val admits his wrongdoing and promises to pay Octavio back…though he has no money.

*At Mica’s office, Flor assures Mica that she had no intention of hurting Teo. Mica knows, but Teo, though shy, is a very passionate person. When Flor asks about her check-up, Mica assures her that everything is fine; if she wants to get pregnant, now is the time.

DOÑA FLOR
Ep 10, Part 3: Paybacks and the Best of Plans Backfire

*Val makes some kind of deal with Octavio who will give him a one month trial period. When Val goes to Chile, he assures Chile that all will be well; Octavio even returned their money. After Val explains that they will have to work to repay the money, Chile is very afraid…he is more afraid of the word “work” than when they had a pistol to his head. Next thing you know, Val and Chile are in suits looking like “Men in Black” (sunglasses and all). Their job is to stop cheaters like them…since there is no one better at cheating than they are. They will be able to pay Octavio back and earn a salary. Samantha storms into Octavio’s office and demands to know how he could hire those two cheaters. After Octavio shows her their profits since he hired Val, Samantha goes back into the casino. She approaches Val who points out that her little payback backfired. After she tells him that she has other ways, Val sends her a short video of them engaging in some heavy liplocks. Whether he sends it to Octavio will depend on her.

Days/Months Later????

*Val and Chile put up the sign on Flor’s Dance Academy; and Father Elpidio performs a blessing at the ribbon cutting. When Marga and Rose saunter in, Flor is glad to see them, but Marga assures her they will not be there too long. While Flor gives Rose a tour, Val approaches Marga and points out that they achieved their goal. After he hands Marga the monthly payment, Marga comments that at least they are able to do that (pay her) and walks away. Val goes to Chile and reminds him that he is supposed to help him out with Marga. As they talk, Val starts choking.

*Apparently, Val survived his choking episode because in the next scene, Val and Flor are alone at Casa Rosa….no one has shown up at the academy for lessons. Flor and Val go out and talk to Liz, one of the students, who tells them that her parents didn’t allow her to go to their academy. Flor knows that students are being forbidden to come to her school because parents think she will be a bad influence.

*Val and Flor wonder what they should do. Flor brain storms and suggests they have a dance contest and give a away some kind of grant to the winners. Later, Val and Chile are riding through the streets announcing the contest and that the prize will be 200,000 pesos. Even later, Flor wonders where they will get the money, but Val has it covered. Flor points out that Val seems to always come up with money when they need it.

*Val and Chile are trying to talk a couple (two of the people that worked with Mariana at her previous job) into entering the dance contest and assuring them that they will win. When the girl wonders if they will actually win the money, Val explains that “not necessarily,” since the money will be returned and invested in the dance academy. ValdeGhost appears and smirks since he knows that Val is trying to con the couple. When the couple asks what they will get out of it, Val points out that the couple will be become famous and be known as the best dancers in town. Chile walks away and suddenly stops to look toward a door where ValdeGhost is standing as he smirks. Chile goes straight to Itzamara and tells her that he feels a presence; sometimes he hears voices, but when he turns, there is no one there. Itzamara wants to call upon the spirits, but Chile is afraid. Itza tells him that he has a gift and should listen to the voices from the beyond. She tells him to trust her and sit down. Itza starts the session and tells Chile to repeat what she says…which he hesitantly does. When he repeatedly summons the spirit to appear, a candle goes out and ValdeGhost whispers, “Hola.” Chile jumps out of his seat and runs out.

Good recap. I didnt see it, had work.
But the recap is good.

I'm glad they got married. They may not stay together, but one thing is fer
Sher, beto jr is on the way. Yall know
It. This is how it goes on tns.

I was surprised when pru told marina she was surprised that beto fell in love with marina. Cuz shes poor. Marina told her she was just like any other woman just not rich.
It's like pru is admitting she raised her son to be this spoiled intitled jerk that looks done on poor people. Her Son turned out to be a decent man.
Inspite of being raise by pompus ASS,
Like Don louse. He probly has his bio dad's DNA. You dodged a bullet beto.

We w/o see how it turns out

Thank you Ms Chick

My comment is down there for "MARADA", UNDER "BONA FLOR"

For "MARADA" Above "DONA FLOR".

Thanks Miss Chick for the sharp recap! I am befuddled by Pru. She allows herself to be pushed and led by everyone yet when she talked to Marina the first time she was ruthless. A little surprising they are showing Beto’s new job as something he has to qualify for. No special favors even for the guy who is straightening out your son.
This story has surprised me with how quickly it can develop
Mely

Flor

Ahhh...Rgv Chick, just wonderful. Your words visualize themselves. Fun, fluid, fantastic!

Your writing makes me sad I can't watch but happy I am able to do so through your eyes.

Chile was my favorite character and from what I'm "seeing", he still is. We've all alluded to the "Ghost" and the "Ghost and Mrs. Muir" theme - very enjoyable.

"Chile is very afraid…he is more afraid of the word “work” than when they had a pistol to his head" had me smiling away.

"As he whizzes outta there, he passes right through ValdeGhost who is flabbergasted that Chile went right through him" made me laugh. A bit of slapstick comedy at its best.

Val is not in a good position. “Val denies everything, but when threatened to be waterboarded, Val admits his wrongdoing and promises to pay Octavio back…though he has no money.” Ack.

Looks like Val is playing a dangerous game with Samantha (can’t visualize her)…

Flor seems blissfully unaware of Val's games but as his heart is true, we can cut him a little slack.

You are amazing Rgv Chick...thank you for your generosity and kindness for continuing to do these for us...

Looking forward to Judy's return! You are missed.

Diana

TO EVERYONE

The sidebar looks absolutely amazing. I can't imagine how much work it is to keep everything up and current. So professional!

I know Rgv Chick, Anita and Kirby redid the website initially. I don't want to leave anyone out so sincere thanks for all the recent updates.

Diana

Mirada

Thanks Rgv Chick. Great to be away (loved being with family in Charlotte and my lungs enjoyed being away from our dear cat) but I missed my telenovelas and recaps. Too bad I can't combine both.

"(as her forked tongue flaps)."

What a great description of our Snake-in-the-Grass Susana. I often wonder how it feels to play such a wicked, conniving person. I know actors frequently love getting the villain roles, but I would think it would eventually affect one's mood and outlook. Isn't that what happened to Machiavelli? He played a lowlife in real life for so long, it actually brought him down? Well, anyway, hope the actress is enjoying it rather than being affected by all her unkind words and selfish actions.

Happy Tuesday everyone. And thanks Rgv Chick.

Thank you, Mely , Diana, and JudyB..and welcome back, JudyB! You were missed!

MIRADA

Mely, "I am befuddled by Pru." Me too! They make her out to be this weak, submissive woman yet when she wants, she can take out those claws and be heartless...oh but all in the name of her family and keeping everyone (namely Don Louse) calm. Whether or not her son (or anyone else) is happy is beside the point. She even worries more about Vanesa than her own son. Ughhh!

JudyB, I don't remember if you watched "Enamorandome de Ramon" but the actress playing Susana was in that TN too; and her character was also a money-hungry vamp who left her husband and son to be with a man who could satisfy all her whims. She ended up dead...maybe that will be how Susana ends up??? I would rather see her in some dirty kitchen washing dishes and mopping floors.

FLOR

Diana, "Flor seems blissfully unaware of Val's games but as his heart is true, we can cut him a little slack." That's probably why Flor cuts him ALOT of slack too...and who could possibly resist that smile :-) Samantha is s slim, nose-up-in-the-air woman with long, VERY RED hair. Here is a link to the scene where she blackmails Val into doing her "favors' or she will rat on him to her husband, Octavio":

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BL250fF68ng

OT_Diana, I'm glad you like the sidebar. Working on it is quite a bit of work, especially when one knows nothing about html, but...where there's a will, there's a way :-)

OT to Diana
I'm not responsible for any of the visuals on the Front Page. They are all the "fault" of our talented goat herder. My input is merely ceremonial and editorial.

MIRADA--
Thank you RGV Chick. Another double header and two home runs hit right out of the park.

Angsty is the biggest coward in the world of tnlandia. And there she is delivering poor defensless (well, we'll see about that) Marina into the wolf's lair. Dami is complicit, but for her it's more about envy and "reparations." I bet a square that once Don Louse hears she has been invited to a lengthy stay at the rancho's big house, he hightails it home to get in on the aggression. Beto, you'd better hurry back.

We know Sudoodoo has no intention of passing on the message from Dr. Bazan, now or ever. And what self-respecting young doctor, who has a mother, nanny and girlfriend miles away, lets the battery in his phone run out of juice.

Finally, Vane changed clothes. That getup with the furry dropped collar interfered with her ability to fling her hair around. She looks normal now. I wonder how long it will take her to tell Lino she didn't mean a word she said to him. Even if it is not in her nature to ever say she was sorry, she needs to have a near-drowning accident where Lino saves her. Wouldn't it be a hoot if Vane and Marina become friends?

Just what is Doc Mask up to? Why is he desperate to find Marina? Is he going to resort to kidnapping to keep Marina away from Beto?

I'm glad Baldo knows about the baby switch.

So let's add "IT developer" to your growing resume Rgv Chick. I'm beyond impressed! The blog looks so professional! And, of course, it is...

"My input is merely ceremonial and editorial". Love it Anita.

Our hard working yet very modest recappers are a joy.

Diana

FLOR
Diana, poor you, as blind as Marina in Mirada--two new characters and we have no clue as to why they have shown up. They were just dropped in with no warning. They spent too much time on cute little Diego asking about his daddy for that storyline not to be continued. So, I guess we're going to have to play the Who's Your Daddy game instead of bingo.

Val and Flor sure do like to bunnyhop, whenever and wherever. If she doesn't get pregnant soon, we'll have to eliminate one or both for not having active swimmers or a supply of fresh eggs.

I was not particularly interested in how many times Val has to make up excuses not to roll around with Sami. Maybe turning the tables on her is the end of it. But then, what's next for him?

Not that it matters to us, but was the prize really Dos Cientos Mil? I thought I heard Dos Mil, which might be more in line with what the pueblerinos would find worthwhile.

Dona Flor continues to race along at such a frenetic pace, that everything is beginning to blur for me. I think my favorite character is ValdeGhost. He should make more appearances (besides being very attractive).

Hello, all.

Chickie, thanks for the recap and all the maintenance that you are doing. Being technologically challenged, I am very impressed.

I might have to check out some of the comments on some of those old telenovelas. We had some rip roaring discussions...often passing 100 comments in a day.

MIRADA. (Yay! I remembered to put the name of the telenovela at the beginning of my post. LOL)

Gah. I'm having withdrawals from no episode today. 😳😉

MIRADA

Rgv Chickie, thanks again, a great, fun read.

Vanesa is an interesting and very good-looking character, but sometimes when she's on her phone fooling around I think I'm looking at a 13 year old.

A little break from the TNs for a couple of days is not necessarily a bad thing, we get a chance to catch up on other stuff. But it can also be confusing; I passed by my mailbox earlier thinking "No mail today." So then I did a search on "Telenovelas Anonymous" but got no relevant hits. Oh, well.

andy

doris, Celts and Bucks tonight! It makes me almost glad no TN is on. ALMOST :0

Hope you continue to improve every day and that most importantly, your pain level decreases.

Diana

andy, our comments crossed.

You always make me smile. Glad you're here...

Diana

THANK YOU again to everyone! I really enjoy reading your thoughts on these TNs...it brightens my day :-)

Anita, ITA that Angsty is the biggest coward. Her reasoning for keeping secrets is just as bad as Pru wanting to keep the peace for her family...two of a kind! Good point about Beot letting his phone run out of battery...DUMB!

Andy, yes, Vanesa does seem quite immature at times...spoiled little (not) rich girl! :-)

Doris, you might as well get used to the pre-emptions. Next week's schedule will be the same as this week's schedule (sigh).

FLOR

Anita, yes the prize was 200 mil. Val keeps getting in over his head...but manages to come out smiling...how long will that last?

OT-Anon 1:59, if you do go back and check some of the comments and come across some zingers, please share. It's always fun to reminisce.

FLOR
Ep 11, Part 1: A Wedding and A Windfall

Today started with a special report about the Venezuelan uprising; so I missed the first few minutes (If anyone saw the missing scenes, please fill in the gaps.) The first scene I saw was a couple running into their house as if in heat. Meanwhile, Flor and Val are on a pier dancing.

Next Day—

*Samantha and her sidekick arrive at Flor’s dance academy asking about enrolling. Flor welcomes them and tells them they can take the classes on whatever day and time they want.

Two months later—

*Flor brings in Val to their room covering his eyes. When he opens his eyes, he sees a table covered with red rose petals along with a bottle of wine and wonders what the occasion is. Flor tells him they are celebrating the end of their marriage through just a civil ceremony (since they are getting married through the church). Val is looking forward to it and the passionate night that comes, but Flor refuses to make love to him until the priest marries them. The next few scenes are flashes of the wedding ceremony. Afterwards, Mariana congratulates them and apologizes for Aure not attending since Octavio wouldn’t give him the time off. Meanwhile, Aure is at a hotel with Blondie. He enjoyed their session, but she notices that he is quiet. Aure wonders how long she will work at the place. Blondie reminds him that he knew exactly what she did and had accepted it; just as she accepted that he is married. He can accept her as she is; or he can forget about her.

*Rose is at Oscar’s home telling Marga that she is glad they didn’t go to the wedding; she can’t stand seeing Flor so happy. Marga comments that she wasn’t about to go and pretend that she was accepting Val as Flor’s husband. When Oscar returns with coffee, Marga doesn’t want to take up his time and mentions her interest in an art restoration business. Rose would have preferred to go on a vacation…oh say, to Spain, with the money Flor is paying them, but Marga thinks a business is a better investment. Oscar then tells Marga that her request to be the official restorer of the art works and cultural arts of the city was granted.

*At the wedding, Val talks to Chile who is wallowing in pity because of his loss…since Val is now married…really married since they had the church ceremony. Later, Flor and Val ride through the town in a horse and buggy. After Val stops to buy a lotto ticket, they go by the beachside and start undressing each other. At night, they return home and dance in the darkness with only the light of a very bright moon.

*The next day, Itza gets her cards to see what is in store for Flor. After she looks at the cards, she is in deep thought when Tito, her son, comes and snaps her out of it. She tells him that a new soul is on the way….Flor’s baby.

*Elsa is talking to someone on the phone and is disappointed to hear that the person hasn’t seen Val in a long time. She hasn’t heard from him in a long time either (Oh Noes!! Val is the father???). She then goes to Diego who is doing his homework which entails writing a composition; so he is writing about the day he will meet his father. When he asks if Elsa has found his father; she sadly tells him she hasn’t…she knew it wouldn’t be easy to find him. When she sees his disappointment, she assures him that they will find him.

*At Mariana’s house, Aure and Mariana lay side by side (doing nothing). When Aure turns away from her, Mari reaches over, but then stops herself.

FLOR
Ep 11, Part 2: A Wedding and A Windfall

*The day of the dance contest arrives. Aure tells Val that Flor and Mariana are going to be pissed when they find out that all of this is a sham. Chile goes on stage and welcomes everyone. The contest begins with Lalo and Lola followed by Tere and Nestór who have recently started dance lessons at the academy. As Father Elpidio watches, he looks at the flyer and sees “200 mil pesos” which he thinks would be useful for the orphans. He whispers to Chile who goes back up on stage to announce that there is a last minute contestant. Father Elpidio and his partner go up and dance (quite well) to an oldies rock and roll song. The judges make their decision after some argument from Carmen who is also a judge. Val writes down Lalo and Lola’s name as the winners while ValdeGhost looks over his shoulder and frowns. After Chile has the envelope, Chile calls the Father who thinks he won, but Chile is only calling for him so he can give his blessing. Chile then opens the envelope and as he takes out the card, the names Val wrote fade away as the names “Tere and Nestór” appear. ValdeGhost laughs as he looks down from a balcony and wonders what Val will do now to come up with the money.

*Val goes to Octavio and asks him for the money. Octavio can’t believe Val would ask him for money after he was found cheating at the casino; but he eventually succumbs to Val’s pleas with the condition that Val bring him the deed to Flor’s Casa Rosa.

*While Flor is celebrating with her students, Val is outside telling Chile that he can’t do this to Flor…he doesn’t want to risk his wife’s future. Chile thinks it would be better than owing the money to Nestór who is the cop of the town. If he starts investigating them, he will see their criminal history and then, fer sure, they will have to hightail it out of town. After Val thinks awhile, he tells Chile that they will make one last hit…the last one. Later, Val explains his plan to Chile. When he tells Chile that the armored trucks will be in a certain area and points out that furthest bank, Chile wonders where Val got his information, but Val evades the question and tells him to trust him. Next thing you know, Val and Chile are parked in front of a “Banco San José.” After Val gives Chile the toy pistols, Chile gets down as he pulls down his ski mask, but Val calls him back…he can’t go through with it.

*Val gets back to the dance academy and desperately needs a hug from Flor. She wonders what happened.

(News Special Report!!! Arghhh! Someone please fill in the gaps if you saw the scenes.)

*Flor picks up a piece of paper that looks like a 300 thousand/million peso bill and smells it. After Val comments that it probably smells like a millionaire, she wants to know where Val will hide it since he needs to think of it as money won in a lottery.

*The radio host announces that there is a celebration…the week-end most waited for. After he comments that they should celebrate that they are alive, ValdeGhost sits on a balcony wondering, “And what about us?”

*Cassy and Malba are in a car (Cassy must have been released during the special report) as Cassy comments that they are returning to Tlaxcal(whatever) exactly one year later…and to the same festival. This time no one will know that she killed Val.

*Val goes to the casino to pay off Octavio since he is now a millionaire (that must have happened during the special report too) and tells him he will no longer work there. As he goes outside, Samantha follows him and asks him to meet her at their same cabin in two hours. When Val tells her, “Don’t think so…” Samantha knows he must be busy now that he is a millionaire, but then warns him that she might get offended and start saying things that may not be convenient for him. All the while, Octavio is listening from the door (Oh,boy!)

Chickie.I was the Anon who was going to check out the old novelas. Somehow I missed putting my name in that post.

Oh ok, Susanlynn. I was wondering who it was because there are very few patio friends who refer to me as “Chickie.” Have a nice time if you go down virtual memory lane :-)

FLOR

Rgv Chick, another amazing recap.

“A Wedding and A Windfall”. Cleverly creative.

“At Mariana’s house, Aure and Mariana lay side by side (doing nothing) said everything.

“At night, they return home and dance in the darkness with only the light of a very bright moon”. What a lovely scene your description depicts.
.
*Rose is at Oscar’s home telling Marga that she is glad they didn’t go to the wedding; she can’t stand seeing Flor so happy”. Such sisterly affection. Such disdaining motherly non-affection.

Chile is still game but Val grows a hint of a conscience..

Crazy Cassie is back. Looks like the walls are closing in for Val on all sides.

I don't remember who Sara is. I only saw the first week and frankly, I'm surprised I even remember the main characters names at this point. I credit you Rgv Chick for fleshing out the story and characters so completely.

Thank you!

Diana

Thank you chickie.

Hi there, Diana.

Since I cannot watch the show right now, I am having a little trouble visua!sing and keeping all the characters straight. Are Aure and Marina in the sTory on!y because Marina is Flor' s bff ? Is Aure a bodyguard for a prostitute? And is Flor's mother qualified to be an art restorer? why is Valghost in the story? Was he accidentally shot at the beginning and has a. Vendetta against Val ? Have Val and Flor bought Rose House from nastymom and jealoussis and fixed it up , and now Val might lose it?

Marina

Finally got to see the episode you recapped Rgv Chick. Hair seems to be a big part of this story. Marina's abundant curly hair has snared Beto. Vanessa's incredible mane, and her ability to flip it incessantly, has us all fascinated. And Prudencia's hair drives me crazy....and not in a good way! That one strand that keeps falling in her eye is maddening. I like the way they are dressing her and in theory I like her sedate chignon, but not that rebel strand that keeps falling, falling, falling. Want to yank it back and put a little girl barrette on it!

Other than that, happy that Beto is finding out that Life is hard without a cushy safety net. However I suppose he will heroically rise to the occasion and score well on his exam. Not a spoiler, just an educated guess.

FLOR

Susanlynn, I only saw the first few episodes of Flor before the time change. I think your questions are better answered by Rgv Chick, Anita, doris or one of our other resident experts.

That said, I was also wondering if Flor's mother was qualified to be an art restorer. She sure is great at being the resident sourpuss though :)

Valghost was shot and killed but he was not the intended victim. Cassie meant to shoot Val. So he's taking his anger out on Val a Cassie was in jail. Now, it appears she's free so...

Aure is a driver and I think bodyguard and henchman.

Diana

Thanks, Diana , for that info . I, too, am a visual learner. I read the recaps and hope that I can stay on course until I am able to watch.

FLOR

Thanks Diana and Susanlyn.

Diana, yes, I'm afraid the walls are closing in on Val. Cassy has been after him and now Octavio will be out for him too. I'm just wondering if Elsa and Diego will find Val before it's too late.

I can't find "Sara". what scene is she in?

Susanlynn, Aure is Flor's brother, so Mariana is her sister-in-law and BFF. Aure was hired by Octiavio as a chauffeur to drive the prostitutes to their "dates." I have no idea what Flor's mother is qualified for, but apparently she is qualified enough to be name the official art restorer for the town (Blech). ValdeGhost is in the story because he was the one who got the bullet that was meant for Val (when Val and Flor were dancing on the stage at the beginning of the show). Val and Flor are giving Marga monthly installments to pay for Casa Rosa. Val would have lost it if he had turned over the deed to Octavio when he borrowed the 200 thousand pesos, but now that they are millionaires, they won't lose it.

FLOR

Diana, our comments crossed. This show is going so fast that I don't recall whether it was indicated what qualifications Marga has....maybe it was mentioned in the few minutes during the special report??

MIRADA

JudyB, I thought I was the only one who had noticed Pru's hair LOL Yes a littel girl barrette would certainly to the trick!

Beto might score well on his exam, but it won't do him any good...at least not in his immediate future. Eric's dad told him they didn't have a need for services in his specialized area. IIRC his specialty area is in plastic surgery, isn't it?

FLOR

Rgv Chick: You don't know who Sara is? :) Well, apparently neither do I.

I re-read your post and I think I was confused by: "Elsa is talking to someone on the phone and is disappointed to hear that the person hasn’t seen Val in a long time. She hasn’t heard from him in a long time either (Oh Noes!! Val is the father???). So, in Dianaland Elsa=Sara !

Ack. So sorry!

P.S. I loved Judy's comments on Mirada. It's all about the hair!

Diana

Chickie, thank you for that information. Hopefully, I will be able to keep it in my brain. My mother used the expression "Your head is like a sieve."

FLOR

Diana, no worries. Elsa just appeared out of nowhere a couple of days ago. I think we were all wondering where she came from. Anywho, she has a little boy named Diego who has never met his father and keeps asking for him. She finally told him that they would look for him. Based on her phone conversation, it seems that Val will turn out to be the father (Yikes!)

Yes, Judy's comments are always spot on :-)

Susanlynn, yeah, my head sometimes feels like a sieve :-D

HA! Count me in on the sieve. too funny.

Diana

OT

My mother told me I had a head like a colander, I don't know if that's better or worse than a sieve. Anyway, after a few years I decided to take it as a compliment, that I kept the good stuff and let the rest drain away.

But I doubt mom ever thought of it that way.

:-)

RGV - I’m running out of sobriquets to praise your constant ability to satiate our hunger for recaps. Please accept my humble thanks. If we had a TN-Mart, I have a feeling that foil covered sieves upholstered in textiles using bold Mexican colors would be a hit as the new style of beanies (for those who don’t really want to ward off all stupidities, but need some clarification from time to time).

MIRADA
Yes, Pru’s hair bothers me to the point that I instinctively reach up to make sure I don’t have any hair locks falling over my eyes. I think Beto agreed to set aside his specialty for the time being in order to get that position.

FLOR
Cassie is or is not going to be successful in her vengeance on Val this time. If she’s successful, I wonder if Octavio will be blamed anyway. That art restorer qualification came out of left field. Why were there no hints before hand...she should have been shown touching up the Virgen in church or checking out the masterpieces in the local art gallery. There has to be a reason for this just getting dropped on us. Val and Flor must have won the lottery during the interruption because everybody seemed to know about it and were congratulating him. Isn’t it interesting that the story is what always gets interrupted and not the commercials.

"I kept the good stuff and let the rest drain away" made me laugh our loud andy. Priceless.

Oh Anita, count me in your "foil covered sieves upholstered in textiles...as the new style of beanies. Wonderful!

Diana (still chuckling)

Anita..you brought back memories for me of "Fuego en la Sangre"when the three sisters opened their shop and one commenter mentioned shops where you could buy "Crap from Afar."

Andy, I always suspected grandmother'favorite saying might have been passed down in German to her from her mother. She even said it to herself. These old sayings are often pretty accurate. I always enjoyed hearing sayings popular in my students native countries.

MIRADA
Pru's hair falling in her face annoys me, too.

OT
OMG I remember "Crap From Afar" here during FELS. Was that also when the term "recrap" was coined for recaps of episodes worthy of the term?

Anita - someone here set up a Meta Mart for our Patio, and I wish I could remember during which telenovela that happened. Telenovela beanies were also available for purchase thru it. LOL

OT-
Anita, " foil covered sieves upholstered in textiles using bold Mexican colors...the new style of beanies." I want one too!!

Wow, sounds like there have been some really good times here at Caray...beanies, recraps, Crap from Afar and a TN/Meta Mart?

Isn't it wonderful to reminisce? :-)

OT - yes , Rgv Chick, there have been some great times here. I am indeed grateful to you and Anita for keeping it going for us! 💗💗💗 I hope our newcomers will stick around and enjoy the Patio or Lowered Expectations, too.

Doris...I thought The Mart was set up during a telenovela that I did not watch. I think that it started a Mexican beauty queen with dubious acting abilities. Was it set on an avocado ranch? I remember reading avocado comments. ..I think..Were Elna June and NovelaMaven watching that one?

❤️susanlynn - I did not watch the avocado ranch telenovela (which one was that?) so never got the inside joke on those comments that cropped up from time to time. So many telenovelas have beauty queens with dubious acting talents that we could start a list. LOL That actress on Modern Family was our Dr Hot Lips in the jungle, in FELS. 😉

Did you ever decide on a microwave oven?

FLOR
Ep 12, Part 1: Val’s Luck Runs Out

*After his encounter with Samantha, Val goes on into town and bumps into Father Elpidio who congratulates him on his good fortune. Val thinks it was sent from the One above and will be donating money for the orphanage. He then bumps into Nestór and tells him he will be donating a patrol car to the city. While they talk, Marga approaches with arms wide open to hug her favorite son-in-law. Before Nestór slips away, he asks for two patrol cars. Val then wonders if Marga’s change in attitude has something to do with his winning the lottery. After Marga explains that she has always liked him, but she is just a little demanding, Val tells her that she will be even happier when he gives her a house…very far from there. Marga half-smiles as she leaves. Val then sees Chile; and as he tells him that he is worried because of Samantha, Flor approaches and reminds him it is their last day to practice. Val makes excuses and tells her that they will have to practice later…and he goes off…

*As Samantha leaves the casino, Octavio follows her.

*Teo and his new girlfriend, Oriana (who he met in Spain, but is from Colombia), just arrived in town and are walking through the streets. As they kiss, Rose happens to walk by and her eyes bug out as she sees them.

*Cassy and Malba are in town and putting the finishing touches on their painted faces. When Cassy shows Malba the drug (which will be undetected after administered) she will be giving Val, Malba wonders how she is going to get him to take it. Cassy doesn’t know; she needs to find him first.

*Marga visits Flor at Casa Rosa and compliments her on how wonderful the house looks. When Flor wonders why she had never visited before, Marga explains that, on the day of the grand opening, she was still very hurt…when she first learned that Flor had married Val she thought he was a bad person, but now she sees how well he cares for her and they have kept up with the house payments. Flor sarcastically adds, “And he won the lottery.” Marga takes offense; she came will the best of intentions and has been received SO rudely. Flor then tells her that she will be dancing again at the festival. Marga is aghast that Flor is going to ridicule herself and the family again.

*Samantha arrives at the hotel as Octavio watches her go inside. He then watches as Val arrives. He gets his gun ready to go inside, but his goon stops him and tells him to calm down and think. Octi changes his mind because he would be the first to be suspected; he’ll think of something else. Inside the hotel, Sami wants half of Val’s winnings, but he refuses; so she threatens to show Flor the video he used to blackmail her. Val doesn’t fall for it and tells her, that if need be, he’ll send it to her himself. She can wait for him to bring the money, but she’d better sit down.

*At Marga’s house, Rose is bawling and screeching that the girl is very pretty. Marga tells her to stop being the drama queen; Teo was bound to find someone else. Marga would rather that they figure out how to get on Val’s good side. Rose thinks that Flor won’t fall for anything...and now that Val and Flor are rich, they won’t give them the time of day.

*Flor is encouraging Itza who is all dressed up and ready to enter for an audition for a part in a play. Before she goes in, Itza asks Flor to take care of herself. Itza knows Val is a good man, but he has a fire within. He lights her up, but he will end up hurting her.

FLOR
Ep 12, Part 2: Val’s Luck Runs Out

*Back at home, Flor is throwing up in the bathroom (Oooh, we know what that means!)

*At the casino, Octavio tells Aure that he has a new job for him; he is to be Sami’s chauffeur from now on and is not to leave her side. If Sami asks to be alone, then Aure is to call Octi ASAP. Afterwards, Aure goes to ask Blondie (who we now know is “Paris”) if she asked Octi to change his duties. She has no idea what he is talking about, but thinks it’s the best thing that could happen because she doesn’t want to destroy his marriage.

*Aure talks to Val about the change in his duties. Val advises him to quit his job so he can dedicate himself more to Mariana since she is a good woman. He can also spend more time with the family. When Aure wonders what he is supposed to do for money, Val offers to buy him 3 trailers so they can start a business together. Aure thinks Flor won the lottery when she found Val.

*Mariana tells Flor that she can’t stop thinking that Aure is having an affair with one of the girls. Flor advises her to spend more alone time with Aure so they can reconnect. Mariana then notices that Flor is acting strange, so Flor tells her that she thinks she’s pregnant. She would like to go buy a pregnancy test, but she doesn’t have time; so Mariana offers to go buy it for her because she is dying to find out.

*Cassy and Malba walk around town. Cassy wants to make sure that no one will recognize her in her costume; so she spots Chile and goes up to him to chat. When she sees that he doesn’t recognize her, she quickly walks away satisfied that if Chile couldn’t recognize her, neither would Val.

*The cross dressed radio announcer finishes up his program. He then goes to the mirror and starts removing his get-up. Once done, he dresses and puts on his fake moustache to be-----OSCAR!! (Teo’s dad!)

*Chile is unsuccessfully trying to pick up a girl when Val comes and slaps him on the head. Val is worried because Sami is asking for half of the money. As Chile warns him that he’d better be careful because of Octi, Octi approaches and takes Val aside to invite him to a party he put together for Val. Val tries to get out of it, but Octi won’t take no for an answer—Val can go at any time, but he needs to go.

*Mariana is about to leave for the pharmacy when Val arrives to rehearse for the dance at the festival…so she has to stay for the rehearsal.

*Teo and Oriana arrive at Oscar’s house. Oscar is elated to have his son back home. When Oriana gives him a “nice to meet you” hug, she finds an earring hanging from his collar. Teo is quite surprised and glad to know that his father is playing the field. He asks who the lucky woman is, but then tells Oscar he doesn’t have to explain.

*Elsa tells Diego that she was given an address where she might find his father. Diego is ecstatic.

*After Flor and Val finish practicing their dance, they dance their way into the bedroom and stay there until after dark. When Val tells her about the party Octi planned for him, Flor convinces him to go. Val goes for Chile, but Chile is in his room dead drunk; so Val goes off on his own.

*Right before Itza is called for her audition, she reads her cards and sees death. She asks if they can wait until she makes a call, but they refuse; so Itza gives up her audition to go back and warn Flor.

*Elsa comes out of the boarding house where Flor and Val had lived and tells Diego she didn’t find his father. Diego becomes upset and reproaches her since she told him she had found him. After Elsa apologizes, she tells Diego that the owner of the boarding house promised to get her the address of the place where his father sells tacos.

FLOR
Ep 12, Part 3: Val’s Luck Runs Out, But He’s Still Smiling

*Flor comes out of the bathroom and tells Mariana she’s PREGNANT!! Mariana squeals with joy and asks if Flor knows how far along she is, but she doesn’t. After they sit on the bed, Mariana thinks Flor should go find Val and tell him, but Flor wants to wait until after their performance to surprise him. They both squeal with delight as they fall back on the bed.

The Festival Begins---

*Everyone walks toward the stage as lively music plays and dancers perform. Marga is dismayed that Xochil was dancing…she must take after her Aunt Flor. After she complains that Flor is going to make a fool of herself again by dancing, Rose would rather not hear about it because she has her own bone to pick with Flor. As Rose stands, she smiles wide as she sees Teo who also sees her and gets nervous so he looks away.

*Flor approaches her dancers to make sure they are ready since they are up next. Flor turns to Mariana and comments that she is worried that Val hasn’t shown up….he’d better not change his mind about dancing! Flor and her dancers perform their first dance as Marga stares with a look of shock. After the dance, Lalo tells Flor that Val still hasn’t arrived.

*Flor is back up on stage as everyone wonders where Val is. Flor looks around as others comment. Marga knew Flor would make a fool of herself, but she never imagined it would be because of Val. Carmen tells Marga that her daughter’s history is repeating itself; and it’s about time Flor pays for all that she has done to her (Carmen). As Flor continues to search for Val in the audience, she hears him yell out her name. She smiles wide and walks toward him as he walks laboriously toward her with a smile. Suddenly, Val falls to his knees and then collapses. Flor and Chile run to him calling out his name and asking him what is wrong. After Flor yells for help and a doctor, Teo approaches to help and hears Flor as she cries and begs Val to stay with her….they are having the baby they have been waiting for. Val looks up at Flor and tells her that he hopes they allow him to “play” with her from the beyond and winks at her and smiles. As Teo performs CPR, Cassy watches from a distance and smiles wickedly.

*Itsa is stuck in traffic trying to get back to Flor. She is confused when she sees that the cards are telling her that the dead one is dead, but isn’t dead.

*At the festival, Marga and Rose watch. All Marga can ask is, “What? Will it now be a custom to have someone die at this festival?” Then she wonders what happened to the lottery ticket since now Flor would be the winner if Val dies. Mariana goes to leave Xochil with Marga, but Marga wants to accompany her to go to Flor. They leave Xochil with Rose. Meanwhile, Flor is crying over Val as Teo tells her they will need to take Val to the hospital since he isn’t responding. Mariana and Marga hold back Flor as she sobs.
*At the hospital, the doctor uses the paddles on Val to resuscitate him, but only gets a flatline. Teo looks on and tells him it can’t be. He performs chest compressions despite the other doctor telling him that Val is gone. After Teo finally stops, ValdeGhost appears and tells Val that it has been exactly one year since he was killed because of him…now look how Val ended up….DEAD!

FLOR

Rgv Chick, I sat on the edge of my seat, hungrily devouring every single word. Your words were so vivid, so crystal clear, everything sprang to life perfectly.

"Val’s Luck Runs Out, But He’s Still Smiling" made me smile!

So, Val hasn't quite gone to the great beyond but somewhere in between, in the spirit realm. I saw the movie many years ago but can't remember how faithful a version of it this is. I'm a bit surprised Val's "near" death happened so quickly but not at all at the pregnancy.

“Val then wonders if Marga’s change in attitude has something to do with his winning the lottery”. Hmmmm, ya think?  Smiling eye roll.

"Marga tells her to stop being the drama queen; Teo was bound to find someone else". What a wonderful, kind, empathetic mother. Shiver.

I'm curious as to whether I know whomever is playing Teo's girlfriend so will have to see who it is. Looks like her appearance in this may be short lived.

Wish I could see this but with your recaps Rgv Chick, I hardly feel deprived. Only blessed. Thank you so much.

Diana

OT

Rgv Chick, even though it seems you've always been here, I'm a bit startled when I see comments that you haven't been.

We have had some wonderful times here over the last dozen years or so. "Crap from Afar and a TN/Meta Mart?" are but a few. Anita led the charge with others following, with some outstanding recaps and postings and we all joined in.

Susanlynn and doris, avocados ring a bell, but a faint one. Sometimes I have to look at Wiki to see the write up of a TN and look at the cast to remember if I saw it! Also hard to believe that Sofia Vergera was indeed a distraction for Ed Yanez in Fuego en la Sangra, and look where she is now.

I'm grateful to our little band of faithful recappers and commenters who are keeping things going. I'm really hoping there will be something good in primetime so our patio can be humming once again and building new fond memories. La Reina? We will have to wait and see.

Diana

Thank you so much for that detailed recap, chickie. Like Diana, I "see" the episode even though, right nkw, I cannot watch..

Ot...Doris, yes, my younger daughter ordered a Panasonic for me through Amazon a few months ago. So , now I am eating frozen tv dinners sometimes. Now, I have to decide on a reliable car...I don't like to drive; I don't want to drive, but I have to drive.

❤️susanlynn - driving here has become no fun, as our traffic seems to have doubled in the last several years. As for cars, Consumer Reports annual April issue has reliability ratings based on "subscriber surveys" ( although this subscriber of 40+ yrs has not received a survey in over ten years), and I have found those ratings to be fairly accurate to our own experience.: Often the local library has a copy, both hard and sometimes an eCopy.

I personally love the reliability of Toyota. I'm on my third one. I love(!!!) all the new safety features on mine, --- the lane departure warnings, blind spot monitoring, pedestrian alert, auto emergency braking, etc. As we get older, our reflexes slow down, so those features are really important to me.

Good Morning, Patioohhh!!!

FLOR

Diana, "What a wonderful, kind, empathetic mother. Shiver." I could have shaken and slapped that woman when she was just standing there looking at Flor from afar and the only thing she could think of was how Flor might have made a fool of herself...and of course the lottery money. There was no maternal interest in her daughter's grief until Mariana came to leave Xochil with her so Mariana could go to Flor. And even then, I'm sure Marga only went to FLor for appearances sake.

OT-Susanlynn, I have a Lincoln MKS and absolutely luuurve it! But then my sister swears by her Honda Pilot. Choices! Choices! I wish you the best of luck on your car search. Do they have any at Meta-Mart?

BTW, I did a little research and found something for you, Diana, Doris and everyone else who wants to go down memory lane; check it out :-)

Susanlynn and Doris--Before I get down to the nitty gritty of the recap for Flor, I must declare myself CULPABLE of the Marts. It started with the Cuando Me Enamoro Emporium*. Then it transferred ownership to Tal*Mart** (...and yes, home of POP GOES THE SLEAZY).

You two are correct, there was a lot of guacamole and avocado colored items, also T-Shirts and other miscellany for "sale". It was a fun exercise. Later, I also put out the AV newspaper.

*A Dr. Carlos exclusive “I ♡ Matilde tee shirt.” An updated version includes, in small letters, “but I still want to smack her.” [from CME--and our dear departed Dr. Carlos]

**For your Valentine’s Day masquerade party—Yo Mama’s™ Glitter Hooker Masks, no doubt about it--$35.00 each (some with feathers, others with conchas or tiaras, all with heavy make-up already applied) This was a special delivery through our middleman supplier, Los Cientolojistas, S.A., up from Tijuana in the last 18-wheeler to make it through. Brought to you de Puerta a Puerta from the Maquiladora Reluciente in Mexicali. [from El Talisman]

**Truly, that girl does EVERYTHING sluttily. She even does nothing sluttily. [referring to Lucrecia, aka LooKrazia in El Talisman] - Well, this wasn't a sale item, but I had to include it.

EVERYONE

Rgv Chick, thank you for the link!AV brought back so many happy memories. Eduardo Yanez is my favorite and I'm happy just to see his face. Period. And the love stories were wonderful - when is the last time we saw true love like that??

Anita, your Meta* Mart merchandise list was amazing. I savored them all again. And your "El Clamor Público" were incredible. Your sense of humor and wit are unparalleled. So glad you are here.

And now when I see postings from Carlos and Madelaine, I feel comforted rather than sad. Their spirits and joy live on. Here.

A grand trip down memory lane...

Diana

FLOR
It seems RGV got ahead of me and has already posted a new page for our Daytime series. Juarever.

So just a big thank you to RGV and her never-ending source of energy for transcribing soapy stuff from Spanish into English, without losing its sense.

Ah, Diana--The Goddess of Wisdom. How I treasure those days on Amores Verdaderos. The renderings in print still make me laugh--and really, the sentiments are universal and can be enjoyed even without having seen the telenovela.

Ot...Doris..thanks for the info....yes, I have heard good things about Toyota. One of my friends always gets a Rav4 and told me she recommends them 200% !

I want AWD and liked test driving the Subaru Legacy sedan which has it and looks and handles like my current Chevy Impala ...which they no longer make. My daughter loves her Honda and I drove and liked that, too.

OT
Susanlynn--I've had two Toyotas in my life. I kept the first one for only 14 years (because it didn't have airbags and my DIL didn't want to trust her precious boys in my car on long trips) and my current one is a Corolla from 2000 (just shy of 20 years).

My friends just got a brand new Toyota Hybrid Highlander. It's like piloting a jet plane, but they love it.

OT

Rgv Chick - thank you for the link to that Amores Verdaderos post! Oh my, it brings back good memories.

susanlynn - I read that the current generation Toyota Rav is the same size as the 1st generation of Highlanders. The Ravs are great SUVs.

AMORES VERDADEROS
That was a fun telenovela.
I think I cared more about Nikki and Francisco than any other couple. Neta!
Oh, the memories of Soggy Paula! LOL
And the bodyguards' locker room when they took showers in those stalls with the half-walls. 😁😁😁
And Dances with Sunglasses! 😎
Watching a 'novela with. NovelaMaven was always fun. I have not "seen" her since Reina de Corazones.

oT...Anita...I miss NovelaMaven and Elna June.
I need a small car with AWD. A friend has a Highlander, but that is too big for my driving aptitude. Also, I am small , and my friend with the Rav4 is almost 6 ft. My daughter thinks that it won't suit my height . I drove the Subaru Forester but it drove rougher than the Legacy . Anyhoo, I am mucho confused. I need a car that will give me confidence in snow and ice.

OT—Susanlynn
You have a hard choice. To feel confident in snow and ice, you need a heavy vehicle. If you want one to fit your size, you want a smaller vehicle. Good luck.
