Intense Business – Monkey Business
Yameli and Juanjo tour the Luxor production studio as Juanjo clearly shows his approval. Damn, Juanjo DOES have a mini bun! Chris and Juanjo meet as Yameli chides Chris for being late and tells him to shut the door. Chris sings a cappella. Juanjo is pleased and after he adds music, both he and Yameli are chair dancing. Charley arrives to spoil the party. Charly doesn’t like Yameli and Juanjo in obvious sync so he overrides every suggestion Yameli makes. Saved by a call from Zaria.
Charly leaves and Yameli, knowing Charley wouldn’t be in his office but that Diana would, makes a beeline there. Yameli (believably innocent) makes sure to tell her Charly was at the studio, left and she thought he was there. We don’t need psychic ability to see Diana’s spikey wheels turning. Yameli hears the message he leaves Diana. Charly (followed by a man and a woman) shows up to meet Zaria. She gives him photos and knee rubs. Yameli brings Jack up to date.
Later, Chris gives Juanjo and Yameli some lip but Yameli is firm and Chris relents.
Erick tells Lidia he is OK and they agree to meet up. Lidia takes Erick to Monchis. Was that a surprise? It was to me as I thought he wanted to avoid him at all costs. Monchis lectures him and his anger out of control, screams at his “business associates” to get lost as he pours himself a huge drink. I think Erick was asking who his father is (?) Lidia tires to intercede but she is given Monchi’s hand to talk to. He tells Erick his mother is dead and that Erick is his blood of his blood.
Diana, Vanessa and Brandon look at her portfolio. So, he actually did take pictures! Diana tries to call Charly again and shockingly receives no answer. He is with Yameli pouring another enormous glass of liquor. He is coming onto her as she rejects the liquor in favor of mescal. She begs off by telling him the time isn’t right. Charly grabs her hand as she leaves at Juanjo’s knocking. Juanjo looks unsettled as it is obvious Charly is interested in yet another conquest.
Charly gets in henchie’s car as Yameli calls Ben. Ahh, the man and woman following Charly are Ben’s. They do not escape Charly’s notice. Monchis is drunk as a skunk. I have to give Charly credit, his invitation to Monchi’s henchman to virtually shoot him in the head was without any fear. I sadly feel that emanates from the fact he values no life, even his own. The henchman was the one whom I believe killed Yameli’s family.
Uh oh, Brandon and Diana are having a drink. I’m surprised – isn’t she a little old for him?? She ignores a call from Charly. Oh, and Erick shows up at Charly’s. The “brothers” start awkward bonding but Erick asks about his “adoption” – he wants to find his mother. Charly confirms his mother is dead but says he doesn’t know about his father. Sickening.
Charley tries to track down Diana through Vanesa. Zaria calls him and he pops in on Yameli. Yameli scoots in his office and finds an (actual) little black book. She uses an eraser to revel a name and then follows him. Next, she films Charly and Zaria having a business meeting without a word of business being discussed. Trust me…
Diana
E-X-C-E-L-L-E-N-T, Diana!! Looks to me like you got it all; I watched most of the episode and have nothing to add! Thank you so much!
Oh, just a tidbit. When Yameli listened in on Diana when she called Charly, Yameli learned that Diana had agreed to Charly sleeping with Zaria...to shut Zaria up. Yameli was frustrated that her plan to oust Charly was ruined.
More tomorrow...
I wonder if Diana will utilize "payback" in the form of Brandon?? She just doesn't strike me as very under4standing. Ack.
Have a great day all!
Diana
Wow, that dress that Tami had on . Uff.
I, too, wondered if something was going to happen. Between Diana and Brandon.
Monchis is a monster. I feel sorry for Erick.
Did anyone watch the special about Sylvia Pinal? I looked up her biography ,and she had romances with Omar Sharif and Conrad Hilton. I did not know that she was Alexandra Guzman's mother !
Well, thunderstorms predicted here for the next 3 days and going up to 90 on Wednesday. Uff.
Diana: Your recap was AWESOME. I loved it.
RGV Chick: Do I need to update the Body Count ?
Susanlynn: From the way I'm looking at this, looks likely Charly & Monchis will get their Karma in the final episode of this Telenovela.
Susanlynn, I couldn't stay up for the special but I did see most of the first Sylvia installment. I hadn't intended to watch but couldn't look away. The acting was stellar and it was incredibly directed and the production was flawless.
Expected nothing less from Carla Estrada.
Diana
Susanlynn, yes, I saw the first episode. It looks like this bioseries is going to be a primer on the Mexican entertainment industry. It only has twenty one episodes but I doubt I will have time to keep up with it with watching “La Reina del Sur.”
I liked that Sílvia Pinal started out the episode on a set that looked to be the set from her 21 year anthology series “Mujer: casos de la vida real”. She talks of the thousands of stories that were told fro that set except for her own. Now is the time for that.
They did a beautiful job artistically using black and white and a washed out color look for this first episode that does take you back to another era.It seems like songs by Agustín Lara might provide the soundtrack for this production. I liked seeing the film footage from that era of various things.
It goes back to Silvia’s very beginnings in Guaymas Sonora back in the 1930’s where she was conceived out of wedlock. It takes us to when she is nearly fifteen and has already has broken into show business on the radio which Sílvia reminds us was so important at the time. Sílvia is a force to be reckoned with even at that young age. Her bio dad Moisés Pasqual is a radio station executive who finally has recognized her and helps her along the way; but when he finally calls her “daughter” in public she tells him never to do that again because her only father is Luis Pinal (her stepfather) the man who gave her his name. Earlier, Pasqual had told Sílvia never to identify him as her father in public.
Sílvia herself provides just enough commentary so we understand what is going on.
I liked Arturo Peniche playing Luis Pinal.
Jarifa, thank you for "They did a beautiful job artistically using black and white and a washed out color look for this first episode that does take you back to another era" which perfectly described it. Appreciate your capturing what transpired.
Yes, Arturo Peniche was great.
Diana
Thank you, Diana.
"Yameli (believably innocent) makes sure to tell her ... We don’t need psychic ability to see Diana’s spikey wheels turning." I liked that scene. Diana has noticed Charly's attraction to Yameli, so she was already annoyed when Yameli entered Charly's office. And then Yameli casually added the info about Charly meeting Zaria. So, later with Brandon, she definitely was doing some payback. Innocent for now - not answering the phone call, and encouraging Brandon's flirting.
"Next, she films Charly and Zaria having a business meeting without a word of business being discussed. Trust me…" - Yep, the went right to the business. To the point that I noticed music skipped - indication that the scene was cut, too hot for 8pm show. Diana has some tolerance, but when she sees the video, I don't think she will just take it.
I hope Judyb is okay. Bad weather yesterday in her area.
ITA that Diana will not be pleased when she sees that video. And something tells me Yameli will be sure that she does...
Diana
REINA-SOY
Diana, again, thank you for such a stellar recap. I am so amazed at how much you can grasp despite your limited Spanish abilities.
Susanlynn, that dress was really something, wasn't it. I always wonder how those actresses can stand such tight fitting dresses...and it was obvious that the dress was riding up. Must have been uncomfortable...though very pretty.
Lucio, thanks for the details on those particular scenes. I'm sure you're right about the payback. Diana was being quite snobbish and cold with Brandon until she called Charly and he didn;t answer for the umpteenth time. Did you all notice Vanessa's look while she was talking to Charly on the phone and he asked her for her mother? I'm wondering how much Vanesa knows about both her parents and their wandering eyes (and other body parts).
My favorite scene: "Later, Chris gives Juanjo and Yameli some lip but Yameli is firm and Chris relents." Actually it was what resulted from that. After Cris left, Juanjo told Lareli that she reminded him so much of Yameli. How long will it take him to really suspect that something is amiss.
Lucio, I think you're also right about about Diana. When she sees the video, she's gonna hit the roof and maybe Charly. She may have agreed to Charly sleeping with Zaria to shut her up, but I think she only intended it to be a one-time thing. She was obviously upset and warned Charly in her messages that he'd better not be with Zaria.
I'm not liking Lidia very much. She used to be so strong before she married Monchis and now she's like putty in his hands. If she had been smart, she would have had a DNA test done on Erick back when she first thought that he could be Charly's son.
Chris seems to be a little twit too. He tried to get away with what he wanted by telling Juanjo that he was going by what Charly said. I'm glad both Lareli and Juanjo set him straight.
Ahh, so a small flicker of a flame of recognition is being lit for Juanjo! I wonder if he will need to be told or figure it out on his own??
Chris was a jerk. I liked him up til then.
I am beyond honored that you have added my name to the sidebar Rgv Chick. It means the world to me. Thank you.
Diana
Jarifa, thanks for the mini-recap.
I love the vintage clothes and cars. So Silvia was not always a blonde. There was a synopsis of the TN on in the afternoon yesterday. Apparently, Silvia's taste in men had a broad range. I found the synopsis spoilerish so I won't say more. Her biodad was some piece of work not introducing himself to her until she was a teen and being embarrassed at her calling him dad in public. She fixed him good when she has some fame as a radio star and returns the favor, don't call me hija in public. Her stepdad was a fabulous, committed father; great to see Arturo Peniche in this role.
I spent way too much time trying to figure out where I'd seen the actress playing Silvia's mother. She's María de la Fuente, who played the police officer that went rogue in La Piloto. The difference between the two characters is almost night and day.
Diana on the sidebar, squee! I recall all the "unofficial" recaps Diana has done for several TNs in the past. I'm not watching La Reina Soy Yo, but that doesn't mean I can't check out the recaps sometimes.
Thanks Niecie. Your sweet words mean so much! I am grateful and appreciative.
I'm hoping that someday soon there will be another Eduardo Yanez TN we can watch together :)
Diana
Diana, great to see you on the sidebar! Congrats!
There was a recent sighting of Eduardo Yáñez in “La Reina del Sur 2”. He is playing a governor and has appeared in one episode so far. Due to the plot moving to his “state, “ I am hoping to see more of him.
Ooooh, Eduardo! I am happy he is working and wish I could watch. He is my ultimate (as you well know) :)
Diana
Yay for Big Ed Take a being back in telenovelas. I will have to look for that show.
"SEX, LIES and VIDEOTAPE"
Vanesa and Diana share a cab. The video surfaces and Vanessa rues her burned corneas, forced to watch the lusty coupling of Charly and Zaria. She focuses on trying to keep the phone from Vanesa.
Later, Charly enters the bedroom and an angry Diana shows him the evidence. He denies as Diana avers she knows what she saw. Her tears seem to be real. Yameli celebrates with Jack as she makes a descending motion with her hand, indicating his crash and burn. Jack doesn’t seem convinced.
Meanwhile, the paparazzi have descended on Charly’s house like vultures. I gather the tape spread like wildfire. Diana snarls then leaves. Charly makes no headway with Vanesa either but she is rather nonreactive. Personally, I would have been horribly upset but we do not know what Vanesa might have already been exposed to. This might not be the shock it would be to someone else. She is a child of vipers after all.
Erick is trying to get any information on his parents and Monchis name is mentioned. Later, he gets a threatening letter asking for money. Please add or correct here.
Diana visits Zaria’s abode, radiating visible disdain. She tells Zaria to leave her family alone and that she is not the victim. Zaria says she is crazy and tells her to leave. I think Diana might have threatened her but could not understand what was said.
Yameli and Juanjo are in the studio watching the tape. Yameli smirks. She texts Charley as Juanjo looks on rather unbelievingly. The news revels in another Charly Flow scandal. Zaria calls him and of course he turns everything around on her saying she wanted to cause trouble for his family. Juanjo and Yameli share a hug which he is clearly into and holds her a moment longer than he should have. He tries to warn her about Charly.
Charly tries to apologize again, telling Diana that Zaria and the tryst was of no importance. Diana’s eyes fill with genuine emotion and Charly seems genuinely upset as well. Well, as genuine as he is capable of. She breaks down and forgives him. “I love you” he states. She does not respond in kind.
Vanessa appears to tell a total stranger at a bar that Charly is her father. The woman is giddy, impressed and excited, which causes Vanesa to stare without much emotion (she is her mother’s daughter). Then the girl gives her drugs as a few predators at the bar have them in their sights. Were they in league with the woman? They dance (badly) and chat. Charly does try and contact Vanesa without success. He does seem to love his daughter but conversely, his denial of and treatment of his son is reprehensible. Back to the story. Yameli, Juanjo and Wendy show up just in time as Vanesa’s friend took a powder (literally and figuratively). They take her home and Charly gives Yameli a huge hug as Juanjo’s eyes bug out of his head.
Zaria takes her case to the public via an interview raking him through the coals.
Yameli and Jack talk – Yameli doesn’t want to hurt Vanesa. Charly thanks her again and she gives credit to Juanjo. Jack is recording their conversation. Next we see Charly being interviewed by the same reporter Zaria had. He plays to the audience masterfully with artful lies and manipulation. Diana looks on seriously and Yameli with a sarcastic smile as she knows she hasn’t created this monster, but she has certainly controlled him.
Diana
No musical relief at all tonight! Ack...
I wasn't sure what the note Erick received said. Why would anyone blackmail Erick as he has nothing. Or, is it to extort money from Monchis?
I was also totally flummoxed at the scene with Vanesa at the bar. Who was the woman she was with who didn't know who her father was? Was she in league with the guys at the bar and what was the drug angle?
Thanks for bearing with me. Any additional info would be greatly appreciated!
Diana
Thank you, Diana.
The note Eric received said "If you want to know about your parents, get 50000 pesos."
The girl with Vanesa, I think, is one of the models she met in the modeling agency. The girl was talking about how her modeling paid well so she could leave her parents house and live alone. And she recommended it to Vanesa.
It became obvious now that Yameli's war against Charly will have collateral damage. Something she didn't consider. Will she hold back trying to minimize it?
Lucio: Let's not forget that Yameli's bid for revenge avenging the deaths of her parents & grandmother will likely have massive collateral damage....... more deaths.
Diana, you continue to impress with your recaps! Thank you! With Lucio's added details (thank you, Lucio!), there isn't much to add.
I found it interesting that when Diana and Vanesa were in the car, Diana was sharing how she had a chance to become a super model, but Charly didn't let her because Vanesa was just a baby and needed her more.
My favorite scenes continue to be those with Juanjo and Lareli. He was smooth in how he guilted Lareli into going to dinner with him and Wendy. He used the "big producer doesn't want to mingle with the menial employees" angle.
The lady who Erick was talking to was a close friend of Lidia's back when Lidia lived in the barrio. Lidia had confided to her that she was not able to get pregnant by Monchis and that Monchis was desperate to have a son. The lady also shared that Monchis was extremely jealous of Charly's father (who was killed in a gang war) because he was Lidia's love of her life and had everything that Monchis wanted.
That's it in a nutshell! Good night!
Excellent question about collateral damage. Steve, yes, Yameli is an avenging angel. Yameli is very aware of and a bit protective of Vanesa, but it didn't stop her from sharing the video, did it? And while Diana is terrible, I'm not sure she deserves what is likely ahead. Erick and Charley are really estranged for all intents and purposes, but he IS his father and no child should have to live with one parent killing another if it comes down to it. And actually, sometimes life is more painful than death so...
Rgv Chick, you so sweetly explained Diana's almost history as a top model which I completely missed. And I didn't know how Juanjo got her to join he and Wendy for dinner. Great tactic! Thank you amiga.
And while it was obvious the woman Erick was speaking with was friendly and knew him, the rest was a shock. Perhaps that explains Monchis love/hate relationship with Charly. Thank you for pointing out this crucial information.
Sincere thanks Lucio and Rgv Chick for the help!
Diana
Thanks also to Chickie and Lucio for the extra information.
Does Charly know that Erick is his son?
Was Lidia's first husband Monchis brother?
Michelle R. (Yami) just shines on screen. She has gained so much confidence since I first saw her in a telenovela (Sombra???) She reminds me of someone, but I can't figure out who it is . Maybe she reminds me of engineers Buffy the Vampire Slayer..(Sarah Geller)
Well, the sun just came out.
#2
The episode starts with Silvia reminding us about the arrival of black and white tv in Mexico in 1946 and how she was about to begin her dream of an acting career. She has her first audition and finds success but her father is not pleased and wants her to find a real career not in show business. He eventually gives in. She works with director/actor Rafael Banquell who has great confidence in her talent. In spite of their age difference (he is 14 years older), he also romances her promising to make her a happy woman AND the biggest “star”. They decide to marry. She makes her first movie and then another costarring with Cantínflas. He is her godfather at her wedding a bit later. She had “put it off” until she could afford the wedding she wanted. She marries in 1948 and goes into labor in the middle of a stage production in 1949. Her first child Sylvia Pasquel is born. Unfortunately, as Silvia’s career flourishes, her husband’s languishes.
Another entertaining, informative, very busy episode and she is only 18 at the end of it.
I saw most of the first half and am sorry I didn't stay up to watch it in its entirety.
I am still impressed by the acting, particularly the young Silvia. Outstanding.
Diana
Thanks, Jarifa.
I didn't realize there was only a 14 year age difference between Silvia and Rafael. Rafael seemed older to me. Loved the tight way Silvia's dad handled Rafael at the wedding; he was doing his duty as the father of the bride, but Rafael shouldn't expect chumminess with him.
Good afternoon Susanlynn.
I asked the same question about Charly knowing if Erick is his son or not. I sure wish I could remember the answer, but I can't.
I will say that I like Michelle very much as well. And you are exactly right, she is a dark haired almost sister To Ms. Geller. Very astute!
Diana
Diana and Susanlynn, Charly has no clue that Érick is related to him much less that he is his son. I would have thought that Lidia would have mentioned her initial suspicions to Charly, but nopis! Only Monchis and maybe the henchie that was with him when he killed Yami’s grandma know where Érick came from. (Don’t remember which henchie was with Monchis).
I condemned Charly for his treatment of Erick but that said, would he treat him any better if he knew? Perhaps we will find out. I do need a beanie to believe that Lidia never said anything (as he is his father's spitting image), but OK.
I'm waiting to see Monchis in a setting other than the outside rooftop. We've probably seen him elsewhere but...he is such a horrible person.
Thanks again!
Diana
RGV Chick: Things are getting juicier & more deadlier as Monchis, Charly are adding to what's likely going to become a bigger Body Count (when I last checked, the Body Count was at 5).
Diana: Time for all of us to start a Karma list on people, who deserve BIGLY anvils starting with Charly & Monchis.
Charly’s interview continues, his crocodile tears flowing effortlessly as he says how much he loves his family. Watching the horror show front and center, Yameli offers Diana a tissue which she gives to him to wipe his tears. Later, Yameli and Jack have a drink.
Next, the reporter is outside Charly’s house, an adoring crowd in full frenzy mode as he emerges from his car, smiling away, shaking hands. Opinions vary as Zaria expresses hers (again on camera) which Charly and Diana watch in mild amusement, shaking their heads. Charly smirks as he seems to have won the popular opinion poll. Charly plays a tape to Diana that I cannot translate.
Erick and his friend discuss the note asking for money for information on his father.
Oh noes. Charley, Diana and Vanesa are in front of the cameras again as one bonded unit. Both smile adoringly at him, seemingly believing every insincere word coming out of his mouth. Vanesa, I am disappointed in you. Geez, even Diana is teary eyed as Charley tells her he loves her – right before the camera stops rolling so he can get his makeup refreshed. The glowing family poses for pictures. Vanesa meets her model friend in the park.
Erick calls Yameli and when they talk face to face, he agrees to sing. Yameli preps Juanjo, telling him how talented Erick is. There is talk of Charly being his brother and Monchis but oh, and here Erick is. Erick gives an incredible on the spot audition and Juanjo is totally on board yelling an enthusiastic “Yeah!. Charly calls interrupting the love fest to summon them to the studio where he bad mouths the singer whom we don’t see but I suspect it is Chris. Correct me if I am wrong please.
Erick gets a menacing call following up on the letter. Monchis is stuffing his face. On his patio. Surprise. Erick then shows up home and speaks with Lidia. He begs her for information on his father. She tells him the same old story that his mother is dead and father is who knows where. With tears of desperation he shows her the note. He leaves in a frenzy. Lidia runs to Monchis to discuss and of course he can’t/won’t shine any light on anything.
Yameli is with Ben who says “got you” after watching and listening to the tapes. He summons his staff and gives the instructions with a bit of English interspersed. Yameli and Jack discuss her revenge scheme.
Erich gives an impromptu concert for some appreciative friends. Wendy sits alone at the kitchen table calling Juanjo who sounds happy while she sits at the table set for two, drinking wine, looking and sounding unhappy.
Yameli looks at her board of pictures, smiling to herself. Vanesa takes out her stash of pills and stares contemplatively.
Juanjo and Yameli welcome Erick. Erick whistles appreciatively. Dude, that’s your mother but as you don’t know it, no harm done. Erick gets in the booth and lets loose. Juanjo’s enthusiasm is contagious. Monchis darkens our screen once again, looking sour and out of sorts.
Yameli visits Charly. I have no idea what was said as I’m transfixed by the huge mural of Charly himself on the wall. Charly leaves and Yameli calls Ben whose staff are following him. Yameli is deep in thought…
Diana
Again, too much dialog for me. WHY aren't we seeing Charly dance more and where are all the musical numbers?
Please feel free to add or correct what I've noted. Does Monchis think one of his men wrote the note. He seemed clearly put out but as that is his normal persona, I couldn't tell :)
Diana
Diana, a wonderful read once again. You keep whipping these out in record time; I am more than impressed!
The tape that Charly played for Diana was a recording of his and Zaria's conversation where Zaria admitted that she was the one who set up their rendez-vous and that she is in love with Charly. Diana and Charly agreed that the tape needed to be edited and uploaded.
When Lareli met with Erick, he did agree to have her record him, but set conditions. He didn't want to record under Charly's label and he wanted to only be known as Pez Koi...and no photos of him because he wanted to succeed on his own merits. That is when Lareli got the idea to open up her own recording studio with Juanjo as her partner. Juanjo was elated to become partners with Lareli since having his own studio had always been his dream.
During the menacing call Erick got, the man told him that Monchis had lied to him...he was stolen as a baby. Erick went to talk to Lidia who admitted that everything Rola (the lady) had told Erick was true, but she assured Erick that Adalberto (her first husband) and Monchis were the best of brothers. She also shared that when Adalberto was killed, it was Monchis who brought her his body (hmmm, I am really curious now if Monchis was really as good a brother as Lidia thought!). When Lidia told Erick that Monchis brought him to her as a newborn baby and only told her that his bio mom was dead, Erick called her and Monchis liars because he was just told that he had been stolen.
Lidia ran over to Monchis and told him about the extortion letter. She asked Monchis to find the person behind the letter and stop him. Later Monchis did suspect that Carrancho (the bald henchie) might be the one sending the notes, so he asked Toño to follow him.
Toward the end, when Lareli went to see Charly, he asked if Juanjo had already made the changes to Chris's single (that Charly had requested since he didn't like Juanjo's version). Lareli assured him that Juanjo would make the changes later in the day. Charly then wondered where he would hang Chris's gold record since there was no more room in his office (Blech!)
More tomorrow...Nite!
Diana: I laughed when you said "Dude, that's your mother" reference as Erick whistled Yameli's appearance.
Let's hope he doesn't sleep with her!
RGV Chick: Maury Povich will have one BIGLY MIC DROP once the truth comes out.
You write like a dream...
I love the fact Juanjo and Yameli are working together!
With everything you revealed about Monchis, I am wondering if he killed Adalberto.
I've been wondering if I should use Lareli but my heart says to use her "real" name as that is who she is. I will think about this...
You are the best!!! Thank you, thank you.
Diana

Silvia tells the viewer that being a mother was her biggest and most difficult role in life because she had to balance being a mother and an artist at the same time. Silvia gives birth but when she is ready to leave the hospital with the baby, she finds out that Rafael doesn’t have the money to pay for the bill. The hospital keeps the baby until Silvia can come up with the money to pay the bill. She is sick of being the only one who is financially supporting the family. Silvia goes back to work. She blames Rafael for not working. He blames her for spending all the money. He has a thousand and one excuses for why he cannot find a job. Silvia’s stepfather dies unexpectedly. Silvia decides to get a divorce and live with her mother.
This was quite a dramatic and sad episode.
I love how kind Yami is to Erich even without knowing that he is actually her son. I can relate to this because I do not have a sob, but many of my students became like sons to me. I just say that I wish Erich would take that hoodie and beanie combo off once in awhile. Doesn't his head get hot and sweaty wearing two layers all the time. I never wear hats. All my jackets and coats have goods that are convenient to put up and down.
Yami and Jack have chemistry , but so do Yami and juanjo , who definitely looks at her with love in his eyes. I am so happy that they are now partners .....because that is going to drive Char!y crazzzy. So now we have the good couple and the evil couple. Let the games begin.
Sure looks like Monchis killed his brother.
I am so glad that I now have the distraction of a good show to watch in the evening and great recaps to read the next morning.
"I love how kind Yami is to Erich even without knowing that he is actually her son". I love how you expressed that Susanlynn as well as "...juanjo...who definitely looks at her with love in his eyes". I really like Juanjo but am I a bad person as I hope for an alternate happy ending with Jack? Hey, it happened once, remember Querida Enemiga??? Oh boy...
I am very much enjoying this! And totally agree that Rgv Chick is THE best for helping set the record straight and doing it so perfectly. I really hope more folks start watching and commenting...
I see I'm not the only one who thinks Monchis is guilty!
Diana
Thanks, Jarifa. I missed a lot of it. The hospital keeps the newborn baby until the medical bill gets paid? Goodness!
Thank you Jarifa. I had one eye on this and you retold the events in a concise, wonderful, all encompassing manner. Something you do consistently as I've had the pleasure of reading your recaps for quite some time.
I had hoped Silvia's father would have lived a lot longer. His uncomfortable yet loving look when he held the baby was so realistic. That, and the fact the man is hot have me a huge Arturo Peniche fan.
I know I'm repeating myself but the actress playing Silvia is superb.
Diana
Diana and Susanlynn, I think we all have the same suspicion. Knowing that Monchis was so jealous of his brother, it would not surprise me if he killed Adalberto...or had him killed. He stops at nothing to get what he wants; Lareli has made that point several times.
When Lareli was talking to Jack, she expressed how she wanted Monchis to go to jail, but she also was upset that it was too soon (since the DEA is preparing a sting) because she wants to confront Monchis and let him know that he was not able to kill her. During the sting, Charly might get arrested if the DEA finds any evidence against him; and Lareli also wants more time to make Charly pay for all the harm he caused her...and she's planning on the payback being the destruction of all he has accomplished with her songs, namely, his business.
Susanlynn, I keep wondering about Erick having a hot head (literally speaking) too! Does he not like his hair? And I'm still wondering why Lareli, and now Juanjo, hasn't noticed how much Erick looks like Charly...oh but they think, Erick is Charly's brother, so that would explain the resemblance, right? Drats!
I do like Lareli's and Juanjo's chemistry. They are so good together; I'm hopeoing for a good ending for both of them...and a wedding :-)
Diana, I can understand why you want to refer to Yameli by her "real" name. I only started using it because there was a scene with Lari and her real name, 'Yameil' was mentioned. Whichever name you use, readers will know exactly who you are referring to :-)
Have a wonderful day!
Niecie, I just read your comment and share your disbelief. Keeping the baby seems archaic doesn't it? Horrific and puzzling to say the least!!
Diana
Jarifa, thank you for your concise, yet comprehensive recaps. I only get to see the first few minutes of the episode, then I get busy; so I do appreciate knowing waht happened during the rest of the episode. I was so looking forward to seeing how Jorge Negrete was portrayed. I loved hearing his song, but was disappointed to see him so curt and unwilling to help Silvia. In his defense, though, he was having a busy work day and she interrupted his lunch. I'm glad she got the money elsewhere to get her baby out of the hospital as quickly as she did. She is one determined woman!
"...she wants to confront Monchis and let him know that he was not able to kill her" and "Lareli also wants more time to make Charly pay for all the harm he caused her...and she's planning on the payback being the destruction of all he has accomplished with her songs, namely, his business" fleshed out so much Rgv Chick! Your level of detail is incredible. Thank you...
Lareli's revenge scheme for Charly makes perfect sense and actually, seems relatively tame in view of what Charly did to her. I am not that good a person as I would wish more on Monchis than revealing myself to someone who thinks I'm dead. I have a feeling when the truth comes cut about Erick, she might be a bit more bloodthirsty.
I have a feeling Lidia won't be as forgiving if indeed Monchis killed Adalberto!
Diana
Diana, "I have a feeling when the truth comes out about Erick, she might be a bit more bloodthirsty." Lareli still doesn't know that Monchis killed her granny;so, yes, if the whole truth comes out, Lareli will definitely go out for blood. OTOH, if she finds out that Erick is her son, will she want to hold back some since she now has to set an example for him...or she might place him in danger?
Thanks so much for all the recap info and comments! I only saw a smidgen of Tues., but all of Wed. Charley wooing his fans in the wake of the new scandal--disgusting. I like Yameli and Juanjo starting their own little studio. Predict they'll have great success with Erick/Pez Koi. Can't believe he never takes his hood or cap off--even when wearing headphones. Surely not premature balding?!
I'm liking this TN lots, good acting all around.
And, I'm getting sucked into SILVIA! I didn't want to, since I don't care for her recent roles or appearance, but like this historia. Especially love the vintage details and music. I shouldn't judge her looks--I don't look very good anymore, and I NEVER looked as good as she did back when.
Diana, you stated my feelings about Arturo Peniche and his performance perfectly. Sorry to see his character go.
Exactly Rgv Chick! Lareli may well seek an eye for an eye from Monchis. I never thought she would physically hurt Charly as that would be depriving Erick of his father (I know, no great loss)...But, Monchis is fair game I would say. I'm trying to remember if I've ever seen a TN where the heroine kills someone in revenge. I can't think of anyone. Patio?? I think you are probably right about setting a good example for Erick. But then I think of how much pain Erick is in and that he was deprived of his mother and great grandmother so, he may not cry too many bitter tears.
Hi LaPaloma. Charley is despicable - think we all agree!
Silvia came on like gangbusters, didn't it? As for Silvia herself, I thought she looked quite good here, doing the intros and comments. She looked exhausted during Mi Marido but perhaps she has had an opportunity to rest a bit.
Diana
I wonder where Judyb is, and I thought that Kirby might like this show.
Hi all. Enjoyed your recap as always, Diana, and agree...I'd like to see more Charley song and dance numbers. He's a swine, but he's a swine with great moves. And a song or two would lift that heavy recapping load too!
Plus add me to the crew who believe that Monchis did away with his brother. Toxic jealousy has been around since Cain and Abel, and right from the get-go it was clear he wanted Lidia, and the sooner the better. So for sure, he arranged the elimination of dear old bro'.
Charley and his picture perfect family PR was so convincing I practically believed it myself! But the writers were careful to include that scene of Vanessa voicing her disgust with Dad later, and later turning to the colorful "energy" pills her friend passed her. Yameli's revenge scheme is racking up some collateral damage pretty quickly.
The theme of the toxicity of revenge has already surfaced in Jack's concern, so I'm sure Yameli will not go so far as to kill Monchis. This is still a telenovela based on the notion that living one's life with courage and integrity is the best revenge for betrayal. It will take a while for Yameli to learn and accept this, but I'm sure that this is the moral underpinning of the story.
Diana, thanks so much for throwing yourself into recapping this story body and soul. Your generous heart and writing skills more than make up for the limits of your Spanish.
Kudos to one and all.
Niecie, that was so surprising that the baby was being basically held hostage until the bill was paid. It seems to me that things were so much harder and harsher back then.
Diana, “gangbusters” is right! I sure hope I have that much energy at that age as she has.
RgvChick, at least Silvia was able to get that advance to get her baby. All her husband could think of was pawning jewelry. Loser!
Judy, your sage words always delight. None more so than "Toxic jealousy has been around since Cain and Abel, and right from the get-go it was clear he wanted Lidia, and the sooner the better". And, there you have it...
Your "living one's life with courage and integrity is the best revenge for betrayal" offer much food for thought. It also seems a wonderful way to live period.
Your graciousness and kindness are so appreciated! Thank you...
Diana
Friends understand.
Diana
Probably best for you to stay home as Diana suggested. I'm a bit of an idiot about these things.
I have to remember that Sylvia is on tonight at 9. My tv guide does not list it, so I missed the Wednesday night episode.
Now you can settle in and watch without weather worries!
Judy, I'm glad the tornado escaped your area and hope that the damage in Dayton was limited and that no one was hurt. I can only imagine the devastation but people are lucky to escape with their lives.
