Primetime on Univisión (#2): La Reina Soy Yo & Silvia Pinal: frente a ti - Week of May 27, 2019

Greetings, Caraymates!

Welcome to page 1 of Primetime TNs/Series which are not being covered by recappers. Highlights, summaries, or details of scenes/episodes are encouraged (this would be a good time to practice your skills in recapping :-). As of now Diana is providing mini-caps for LRSY and Jarifa is providing them for  SPFAT, but if some other brave souls would like to join in and contribute some highlights or a mini-recap, I’m sure it would be very appreciated. TNs/series covered by this page are:
  • 8-9PM   – La Reina Soy Yo : Ep. 15-16
  • 9-10PM – Silvia Pinal: frenti a ti: Ep. 4-5
As with other discussion pages for more than one TN, please identify the TN you are commenting on to avoid confusion and so readers can easily find the conversations they are looking for. (You can shorten the title to one word, i.e., “Silvia”)

Discussion pages will be posted on Mondays and Thursdays at 9PM.

RGV Chick: Go Yameli Go!

REINA Part 1

“Bang bang you shot me down
Bang bang I hit the ground
Bang bang that awful sound…”

Charly is being tracked on land and by air. He arrives at Monchis’ as selfies are taken with the lesser henchmen. Charly keeps asking what Monchis wants, wanting only some water which Monchis wants to replace with tequila. As the evil henchman who killed Yameli’s grandmother returns to the lair with a paper bagged liquor bottle, he spots the police immediately, hence they are “made”. The guards on the watchtower are alerted.

Yameli and Juanjo are working in the studio but she is obviously distracted. She calls Charly as Monchis grabs the phone with a leer (he doesn’t see who is calling). Then, there is an explosive cacophony of noise as a hail of rapid fire bullets are released! The police are ambushed in the street and they and henchmen start falling. Ben is smack in the middle of the action. There are a few heart stopping moments as Monchis and others try to get away leaping from rooftop to rooftop. And then, Charly is shot!! Yameli who has heard the shooting on the phone is now beyond worried but tries to keep her composure with Juanjo. Charly is being propped up between two men and hoisted along. The wound to his stomach looks raw and painful but not quite fatal. Monchis and company are getting away as they are watched via air. A roadblock is put up and luck is on the side of evil. They elude capture for the moment. Charly is in agony as his wound is “cleaned” with tequila.

Yameli gets a text from Ben and they meet up. Yameli is not pleased with what went down. I believe she says she wants Monchis and Charly in jail. At that point, I don’t think they realize Charly was there.

Diana and Vanesa watch the news and learn of Monchis ‘capture. Diana picks up her phone. I suspect she will not get any answer.

Diana

REINA Part 2

“Bang bang you shot me down
Bang bang I hit the ground
Bang bang that awful sound…”

Bad henchie says Charly’s fever is bad as they debate what to do. Charly is motionless and pale as he lies on the bed, a cold cloth on his forehead. Some second rate (likely disbarred) doctor extracts the bullet as Charly screams in agony. Even Monchis recoils at the makeshift operation. The “doctor” says Charly should be taken to the hospital to which of course Monchis says no.

Lidia and Erick cook as the discussion centers around his father (natch!) Yameli and Jack speculate on what happened to Charly. Is Jack warning Yameli the vengeance quest may now have irrevocable consequences?

Juanjo recalls his conversation with Yameli about music as unsuspecting Wendy talks in the background. You can see Juanjo is trying to keep it real but Wendy asks about Lareli but is saved by friends who’ve arrived for dinner. Whew!

Erick knocks something over and finds a picture of a baby with a handwritten date and note on the back.

Yameli show up at Charly’s and runs into Diana who says Charly is tied up, lying through her teeth. The three watch the news speculating about his whereabouts as Vanesa storms out. Yameli rolls her eyes. Diana tells Yameli they don’t know where Charly is as Vanesa listens behind the door. Yameli is sporting an “Evil Thoughts” shirt. Hmmm. She tells Vanesa her father is at Luxor and is OK. She says only good things about (eavesdropping) Diana and they share an affectionate hug.

Charly calls from his “deathbed” sounding remarkably chipper. He makes light of the shooting as Diana (rightly) frets. Charly tries to clean the blood from his shoes, looking as though he has a massive headache from a hangover rather than having his gut used as shooting practice. The recuperative powers of the young are amazing, aren’t they?

Diana lies to Yameli and says Charly called and is with his friends. Their conversation is over my head.

Erick is with his friend and shows him the picture saying it is him. They discuss what is written on the back (which I did not understand). He gets another call asking for money for the information and Erick seems to agree to the terms. Did he say his mother is alive?

Kind Monchis takes Charly’s temperature and it appears to look normal. Charly looks down but not out. Yet.

REINA

I had posted a comment on Rgv Chick's wonderful FLOR summary and then mistakenly posted this on that (wrong) page. Hopefully, someone can delete that for me. I apologize!

In terms of Reina, I thought this was a great, action packed episode. Am I the only one surprised at Charly's shooting though?

The things I missed (that I'm aware of) was the conversation Yameli had with Diana during which Yameli seemed sincere and Diana actually rather receptive.

What the picture Erick found had written on the back and what he said to his friend also eluded me.

I'm beat and have to get going so I can get at least a few hours of sleep.

Diana

REINA-SOY

Diana, an action-packed episode indeed and you captured every detail vividly. I would have to copy the entire recap to list every description that was exquisitely written, thank you!

During the conversation between Yameli and Diana, Diana lied about Charly's whereabouts as you noted. Diana was at a loss as to what to tell the reporters who were anxious to know where Charly has been for the last 24 hours. Yameli suggested telling them that he was at a rehab center and offered to coordinate the announcement for Diana. Diana was genuinely appreciative.

In regards to the picture Erick found. Lidia had scribbled the date "Feb. 14, 2002" on the back. Erick showed the picture to Serg, his friend, and asked him if the baby in the picture looked like a newborn, Serg and Erick agreed that the baby had to be 2-3 months old. Erick then explained that his parents had led him to believe that his birthday was Feb. 20, 2002. Erick now knows that his parents lied to him about his birthday which he calculates to be a couple of months off. Serg notes that that is why Erick hasn't been able to find any leads about his bio parents; he has been looking for info based on the wrong birth date.

After Serg goes off to talk to his other friends, Erick gets a call from the extortionist, but Erick refuses to give him any money unless the extortionist gives him some type of information that will convince Erick that the info the extortionist has is legit. So the extortionist gives him the name of his mother--Yameli Montoya! When Erick gives him the money he is asking for, the extortionist will give him the name of his father!

Another conversation that was noteworthy was the one between Juanjo and Wendy. Wendy asked Juanjo what he knew about Lareli. When Juanjo responded that he really didn't know much, Wendy mentioned that there was something familiar about Lareli...like she had known her from long ago. Wendy's feelings supported what Juanjo had just been thinking about with the flashback of Lareli urging him to follow the dream he had always had. After Lareli said that, Juanjo asked her how she knew about his dream if she had never met him before.

Diana, "Am I the only one surprised at Charly's shooting though?" Nopis, I was surprised too! I was also surprised with the miraculous recovery.

REINA-SOY

One more thing--
"Is Jack warning Yameli the vengeance quest may now have irrevocable consequences?"

Jack was wondering if Charly was dead, but Lareli hopes not...that wouldn't be enough of a punishment for Charly. She wants to go rattle Diana now that Charly is not around. Jack wonders if Lareli is seeking vengeance more that justice and points out that she is not considering that she is hurting others, like Charly's daughter. Lareli ignores him, but wants him to leak to the media that Charly has been missing for 24 hours. When Jack argues, she tells him she'll get a reporter to help her.

BTW, did anyone else get distracted by Jack's hair. I wanted to take a comb to that little wave he had on the top of his head :-)

REINA

Rgv Chick, first, thank you for deleting my post.

I'm in awe of and very appreciative of all the information you provided. Thank you for your amazing recap.

So now Erick knows Yameli is his mother!!! Another secret I am surprised was revealed early in the story line. I can't wait to see how he handles this information and am praying he never utters that name near Monchis.

Thank you for using the word "extortionist". I keep saying blackmailer knowing there was a far better word, and you supplied it.

Your relating the Juanjo/Wendy conversation was so helpful. So, Wendy did know Yameli back in the day...

Serg and Erick know more about what a newborn looks like versus a 2 month old than I :). But, now they have more of an accurate birthdate.

I think I'm a poor judge of character as I thought Yameli was sincere in what she said to Diana. But as Jack has pointed out that she is hurting those who aren't accountable, I'm getting increasingly uncomfortable myself. I've said before that Diana is neither good nor kind yet she is not culpable for her husband's past. And children should be off limits. Period.

You had me laughing at Jack's hair! There was a bit of a pouf wasn't there? The actor is so mesmerizing I'm surprised I noticed. I wage a constant battle between staring at his handsome face and listening to what he is saying. Sigh.

Rgv Chick, it is because of you that Caray still exists today. I am honored to be one of the small group helping a bit, but the credit is yours. It's your dedication, generosity, kindness and patience that are evident every day. I haven't even mentioned your recaps which are the epitome of excellence. Thank you.

Diana

SILVIA

It is 1952 and Silvia is filming “Un rincón cerca del cielo” with Pedro Infante. She is still married on her way to a divorce. Pedro Infante is interested in her but she only wants him as a friend. Her mother gets remarried and moves. Silvia gets a new friend a secretary at work named Sonia. Her husband Rafael is following her around to see what she is up to. Silvia says it just gets to the point that you don’t bother arguing or fighting anymore but that doesn’t mean that you give in one day Rafael comes home one day just to find that Silvia has moved out with their daughter. She just wants a divorce. Her grandmother has also come to live with her to help out with her daughter. Rafael continues to be a good father and a business associate. He says he will sign the divorce papers whenever she wants. Silvia makes a movie with him as the director. Silvia tells the viewer that in 1953, the president of Mexico changed the constitution so women could vote. She meets other famous people in the business like Libertad Lamarque. The most important producer in Mexico wants to sign her. Opportunities continue to present themselves. Silvia provides the first “nude” performance on Mexican tv with a wardrobe malfunction. She is dancing on tv to “Quién será” and one of her breast pops out. They cut and go to commercial but it is too late. Next, it turns out that she may have the chance of working with the famous director Arturo de Córdoba but she is going to have to change her look to something more sexy. At the end of the episode, Silvia comes home from her dressmaker and notices that her daughter isn’t with her like she should be.

SILVIA

There was lots of good oldies in this one. It was a real sing-along. Silvia talked a lot about women’s rights, too.

SILVIA

Jarifa, I've long admired your ability to convey so much with relatively few, carefully chosen words. "Opportunities continue to present themselves" is a perfect case in point.

I saw some scenes and completely agree that Rafael was a good father. I wish I'd seen everything.

"Silvia says it just gets to the point that you don’t bother arguing or fighting anymore but that doesn’t mean that you give in". Your intriguing recap has brought Silvia to life. I see her as a strong, loving person who is a realist, wanting the best life for herself and her daughter. She seems to enjoy her career but never stepped on anyone on the way up.

Thank you!

Diana

"REINA":

RGV Chick; It's obvious Diana is COMPLICIT in the murders & many other heinous crimes.

REINA

Wow Diana...I haven't seen this yet but your recap had me on the edge of my seat. You really conveyed the action bam bam bam!!! just like the title. Your writing skills are powerful,my friend. And this made me laugh:

"Some second rate (likely disbarred) doctor extracts the bullet as Charly screams in agony."

Yep, there's always some shadowy doc, as well as a corrupt policeman and bureaucrat, to grease the wheels of these telenovela plots. Oh well, they sure do entertain us.

Rgv Chick, thanks for adding in the details of the conversations. Every day I thank God for the closed captions. Without them I'd be lost.

I will have to watch this later to be inspired by Charley's miraculous recovery. I dropped a 5 pound weight on my foot 10 days ago, and the darn thing is still swollen and painful. The perils of aging. Slow recovery.

SILVIA

Jarifa, as you know, I'm absolutely fascinated by this story. That Silvia was determined to learn how to drive, to vote, and to get divorced...back in that era...shows what an exceptionally strong woman she was. And given that her mother was able to raise her, having given birth at 15, speaks to a long line of strong woman, going all the way back to the abuela who is still helping out Silvia. Woman Power!

Great story, great acting, great production values, great directing. And a super-feisty protagonista. What's not to like?

Thanks Jarifa.

SILVIA

Thanks for the great comments, all.

Question: if anyone saw the “wardrobe malfunction”, how did Uni handle it? Did they blur it? The original broadcast just let it all out but that wasn’t being broadcast in the USA.

reina-soy

Thank you, Diana, Rgv Chick.
I also marvel at the miraculous recovery of Charly.
It was Yamelí who alerted the media to Charly's disappearance. She wanted Jack to help her with that, but when he refused, she said, fine, I know someone who will help me.
At the meeting with the DEA agent (Ben? Rizo?) he told her that Charly was shot, he saw it. So Yamelí had all the information. She wanted to take the opportunity that Charly isn't there and get closer to Diana. And she did. She counseled Vanesa, saying kind words about Diana, how she put the two of them before herself. Diana was listening at the door and was pleased. So, I would say, the mission to get in good graces of Diana and Vanesa accomplished.

"REINA":

Lucio: If I'm Yameli, I might want to be extremely careful because you know Diana is akways lurking.

REINA-SOY

Diana, it is you who deserves the accolades for venturing into recapping despite your limited Spanish abilities. It has been said before, but I am in awe of your comprehension based on what you see and tone of voice. Many kuddos to you, Amiga!

I was surprised that Wendy knew Yameli from before. Now I'm going to have to go back and watch the first episode to see if Wendy was referenced.

So what is Erick going to do now that he has his mother's name? Search the internet? Go back to the barrio and ask around? I am reeaallY hopeoing that he asks Juanjo if he knew anyone by that name. Nail-biting time!

Lucio, thanks for elaborating on why Yameli wanted to meet with Diana. Things go by so fast and sometimes I miss a word or phrase that is critical to the scene.

Diana, "Rgv Chick, it is because of you that Caray still exists today." Thank you, but I cannot take sole credit. As JudyB so eloquenlty stated on another page, "It takes a village." In this case, it takes a virtual village of stalwart supporters who refuse to let their circle of support be destroyed. And I am very grateful to be have been allowed into that circle. THANK YOU, CARAYMATES!

Judy, thank you so much. It really was an exciting episode and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Thank you for identifying the obligatory "shadowy doc, as well as a corrupt policeman and bureaucrat" TN staples. Love it.

Hi Lucio! Thank you for the gold informational nuggets you gave us. So Yameli tipped the press off! Also, I don't think I was aware that Yameli knew Charly was shot at the point when she was told.

Oh my. "She counseled Vanesa, saying kind words about Diana, how she put the two of them before herself" is more vital info. As you noted, "mission accomplished".

So here's one of my many faults. It's excusing character misbehavior simply due to the fact I love the actor. Using two people who may not be the nicest but who are still for all intent and purpose innocent is wrong - pure and simple. But I keep thinking of Yameli in jail thinking her child has died and all the other pain no one should have to deal with.

I can't dismiss what she is doing but can't condemn her for it either. As of right now. We will see what happens.

Diana

SILVIA

Jarifa, thank you so much for the recap. I am one who wasn't planning on watching this show, but I am finding it hard not to. I was able to watch all of last night's episode and truly enjoyed that ride down memory lane with all the songs being played when particular "Golden Age" stars appeared (i.e., Pedro Infante and Libertad Lamarque)....their voices are incredible and so unique.

The wardrobe malfunction was very difficult to see since they showed it as the producer/director was watching the show on a very small TV. I played the darned thing twice and could never see what actually happened.

SILVIA
I haven't posted any comments yet, because I just started watching. I finished the first two episodes and don't want to read any of your comments for fear of spoilers.

Just for the records--I'm loving this bio-pic, even if it is a bio-pic. It rolls comfortably like a good novel in the hands of an excellent writer (director and producer). The authentic views of Mexico City in the 30s and 40s are very nostalgic. I remember streetcars that looked like that in the 50s before they were "streamlined" in the 60s in D.C.

I'll try to catch up this weekend.

Rgv Chick, our comments crossed.

You are so right and I want to also mention Anita and Kirby who were so instrumental in saving our site. To them, I extend much thanks and appreciation. To our family of current recappers and commenters, you are valued and appreciated. It does take a village as our Judy noted...

I am a bit relieved that I wasn't the only one who was surprised Wendy knew both Juanjo and Yameli back in the day.

I am also wondering how long (and how) it will take Erick to find the truth. And you hit the nail on the head that asking Juanjo would be fine. Monchis? Not so much. "Nail biting time" indeed!!

Diana

SILVIA

Thanks, Jarifa.

On the wardrobe malfunction, I saw a blur over Silvia's left breast (from the TN watcher's point of view). Silvia was ahead of her time and could've consoled Janet Jackson. But, back in the 50s I guess there actually was no blur (lack of special effects in the TV studio?) and the director simply ordered the cameraman to close the lens.

Nice that she and the ex came to an understanding. This story does show realistically how Silvia's career sidelined her daughter a bit. During one scene, Silvia is so busy preparing for a scene that she doesn't notice her little girl comes to her and instead the makeup artist(?)gives the child the attention.

REINA SOY

I was just going back through some of the previous pages and found this:

Blogger tjbeale said...
I’m new to the discussion. I’m very interested in this novela. I saw the original which is/was on Netflix. La Reina del Flow/Queen of Flow. The original is out of Colombia and only about a year old. I hope they make changes to the story because so far it’s the same as the original. But we’re just getting started.

Friday, May 24, 2019 at 7:40:00 PM EDT

tjbeale, my apologies for not responding to your post before now, but it's never too late, right? (I do hope you are still with us) First of all WELCOME to our community! I haven't seen the Colombian version of this, but when I get a chance I'd like to see it just to compare and identify the differences. Sometimes it is simply the actor's nuances (or looks :-) which make a story more interesting. This one seems to be full of eye-candy for both men and women (wink, wink)

SILVIA

"Silvia was ahead of her time and could've consoled Janet Jackson"/ Great line Niecie!

Diana

REINA-SOY

Diana, I couldn't wait and watched the first two episodes specifically to look for Wendy. It seems Wendy was Yameli's BFF. She was consoling Yameli at the funeral when her parents were buried. Then there was another scene where Charly, Juanjo, and Yameli organized a mini-concert at the barrio to present Yameli's song (which Charly sang). During the concert a couple of Charly's competitors sneaked in and Wendy tried to stop them; she was feisty since back then. The two guys ended up shooting up the place and everybody ran in a panic. In running out, Yameli's granny, who was proudly attending, got hurt.

Ok now I can get back to my chores :-)

REINA

Rgv Chick, that info was HUGE!!! Your investigative skillz rock!

So Wendy not only knows Yameli, they were BFFs! Well, it all makes sense now! No wonder she thinks Yameli is familiar.

I'm reading into things of course, but I wonder if Wendy loved Juanjo back then. (Likely) knowing how he felt about Yameli likely stopped her from doing anything except have her heart broken. Now I really feel badly for Wendy.

Yameli's grandmother not only had her daughter die, but got hurt in the concert chaos, and finally ends up murdered in cold blood. Just terrible. And completely unfair.

Thank you for looking this up during your very busy day.

I'll "see" everyone at 8 tonight :0

Diana

SILVIA

Diana, Silvia did so much merely by her force of will it seems. Truly remarkable.

JudyB, you are right. There is little not to like. It is almost like a history lesson in a way as it is framed by the historical and social movements of the time. It also helps that there are only 21 capįtulos.

RgvChick, the music has been very well chosen. I also enjoy seeing those vintage performances.

Niecie, good call on the Janet Jackson “foreshadowing” LOL and this was back in the early 50’s! I think Silvia was fortunate to have the support of her ex, mother and grandmother in terms of childcare.

Anita, I am not a big fan of bioseries but I am liking this one because it has more of a documentary feel and with Silvia herself narrating, there is no added “drama.” Talk about those streetcars, I rode ones like that as a child, too. Then in the dressing room, there are those pointy bras from the ‘50’s and “girdles”. In an earlier episode there were stockings with “seams.” So much I haven’t thought about in years.

Don't feel bad for Wendy. She's a beggar. She's been begging Juanjo forever. He finally gave in. Should have been her final warning sign.

Something about her is just unattractive.

Thank you to Diana, Chickie , and Jarifa. I am happy to have two good shows to watch and wonderful recappers to let me know the dia!ogue. Sylvia had a fascinating life. She certainly was a determined gogetter who lived an interesting !ife.:

I was shocked that Charly got shot, and I had to look away when they decided to give a close up view of the doctor poking about in the gaping wound to extract the bullet. Yikes.

REINA

Seek and Ye Shall Find…Someday

Diana graces our screen, still in the interview, fielding questions about Charly’s whereabouts. Yameli and Jack have another “discussion” about people getting hurt but it is Yameli who passionately reminds Jack that her grandmother and child are dead. Jack has the grace to be rather shamefaced as he tries to calm her down.

Erick and Serg are on a mission – a missing person mission. They ask Rola and others referencing Yameli’s last name “Montoya”. Erick is so desperate he even goes to her old home where menacing thugs scare them off with knives. I believe one of the women say something about Yameli’s grandmother.

Diana and her new bff Yameli bond over girl talk and cocktails as Yameli innocently pumps her about Charly. Diana may have a new friend but she knows better than to spill the tea so she clams up. Yameli checks in with Ben who says they haven’t been able to find him. Yameli stops by Di’s a few days later. Vanesa is acting up and out as Diana tries to find out what ii is. Van references all the secrets in the house and cooly rejects her mother’s kiss.

Erick is online looking for Yameli (which is what you foresaw Rgv Chick). Serg comes in and tells Erick he’s obsessing. He tries to shut the computer off – to no avail.

Meanwhile Charly, Monchis and company play games and drink. Later, Charly shows up home and Diana runs to him and seems genuinely relieved to see him. How are you she asks with concern. He is well enough to kiss Diana though he winces in pain as she presses against his wound. He is delighted to see Vanesa and actually seems happy they are all together. Quite the touching reunion all the way around.

Ben and Yameli srategize. She is not happy with the lack of progress and gets emotional. Ben defends himself and says how difficult it is. She goes too far and he rebukes her. See you later he says as he leaves.

Charly and Diana are searching his office and Charly sees the microphone. Yameli has perfect timing as she enters and sees the mic is gone. She informs Ben he is back. He tells her to remain calm and return to the studio. Charly calls Lidia who is concerned but glad to hear from him. Charly shows Axel the microphone and tells him to check the tapes. Axel is in the security office and it looks like 4 hours is the download timeframe. Yameli had snuck in and watched and she high tails it out before they see her.

Erick comes home and is told Charly is out of the clinic. Lidia wants him to accompany her to Charly’s and he agrees.

Yameli and Charly show up at the studio. They play what I think is Erick’s tape which he likes. Charly invites Juanjo and Yameli to his party. She updates Ben.

The party guests start arriving, led by Lidia. “How’s my brother from another mother” is his greeting for Eirck (said in English). Next, he greets Juanjo and Wendy (who thanks to Rgv Chick we now know knew each other back in the day). Charly calls for a group photo and Yameli opts for the side away from Charly although he stretched out his arm to her. When Yameli and Erick are introduced, they pretend they've never met.

Monchis has a heart to heart with Carrancho and for a moment I thought he was going to force him into the trunk. But then, Monchis gets in an curls up…

Where to next?

Diana

I had a devil of a time with this, especially the first few scenes. I apologize as I'm not sure what I got right and what I didn't.

Please feel free to correct or add. Your comments are always so appreciated!

Diana

REINA-SOY

Diana rides (writes) again and very gallantly! Thank you, Diana!

"I believe one of the women say something about Yameli’s grandmother." Yes, After Serg and Erick are run off by the thugs, they go back to Serg's house where Serg tells him mother that Erick went looking for his bio mom after being told that her name was Yameli Montoya. Serg's mom recalled the last name and told Erick that the Montoya family was killed. She mentions that the couple was killed during a robbery and the older lady died in a fire. After hearing about the bad family history, Serg suggested to Erick that the extortionist was lying...and Erick somewhat agreed. Interesting how both Rola and Serg's mom remembered Yameli's parents and grandmother, but they didn't mention or knew nothing about Yameli...

Yameli's and Ben's conversations revolved around the mic that Yameli planted in Charly's office. Yameli feared that her cover might be blown; so Ben thought it would be a good idea to remove the mic since Monchis might figure out that that was how they tracked him down (and he was right about Monchis). Unfortunately. Monchis had told Charly to search his office; so they beat Yameli to the mic. Yameli's next mission was to make sure that all the security camera footage was deleted so that they wouldn't find out that she was the one who planted the mic. Again, Charly was quick on his feet and told Axel to review all the camera footage. To Yameli's chagrin, her plan to delete the footage was foiled. Her saving grace was that the download was going to take 4 hours; so Axel and Peralta left the security office to go get coffee...but yet again, Yameli's opportunity was foiled when Charly insisted that she and Juanjo attend the party at his place.

The tape that Yameli and Juanjo played was that of Chris. Charly finally approved of it and thought Chris was ready for a showing. Keep in mind that Charly had previously told Monchis that he could start laundering money when Chris was ready to have a concert.

More during the week-end! G-Nite, All!

SILVIA

Silvia was so preoccupied with changing her look for her next role, she did forget her daughter at her dressmakers. The dressmaker has her daughter when she realizes what she has done and goes back for her. Silvia admits to the viewer there was no excuse for that and felt like the worst mother in the world. With already blond hair, Silvia gets it cut in an up to date style and is ready for her audition with Arturo de Córdova. (She has the blonde bombshell look.) She shows up with her manager/rep Gregorio , and is rushed through the audition process but still manages to get the role. Silvia has to go film in Cuba. Silvia tells the viewer about the guilt a mother feels having to leave her family in order to support them. It is 1954. She is 23. Gregorio accompanies her to Cuba. When she arrives, Arturo has not missed a beat in welcoming her with candy, flowers and champagne nor in putting the moves on her. As they film “Un extraño en la escalera”, Sílvia tells the viewer that the “passion overflowed from fiction to reality”. Silvia and Arturo go skinny dipping in the ocean. Gregorio talks to Silvia because he is concerned about the romance ruining this moment in her career. She needs to stop her romance with Arturo. That doesn’t stop Silvia. Gregorio tries to talk some sense to Arturo who isn’t ready to get divorced quite yet. That doesn’t stop him either. Silvia is in love like never before. Back at home, her ex Rafael isn’t happy with the reports of a Silvia/Arturo romance and decides to take their daughter home to stay with him until Silvia comes back. He wants to protect her from what she might hear about her mother. Silvia’s grandmother calls her to tell her. Silvia says he cannot do that legally and that she has no time for romance she is working so hard. Grandmother tells her to be careful. The filming of the movie ends and the episode ends with a hot sex scene between Silvia and Arturo with “Fuego bajo tu piel” (The Fire Under Your Skin) playing in the background. Silvia informs the viewer that when you are young, love can make you act by instinct and sometimes irresponsibly.

SILVIA

What a story this is Jarifa. And I can well understand Silvia falling under Arturo's spell. She is only 23 and while once married, has never been in love. Nor understood how overwhelming...but dangerous...falling in love can be.

I thought the actress was brave and candid to include how she forgot her child at the dressmaker's. Good Lord, people forget their children in their car seats. Forget to take them to child care. The results are fatal. At least in this case, no real harm was done.

Hope that everybody is enjoying this as much as I am. Totally captivating.

SILVIA

JudyB, it also was nice seeing Marcelo Córdoba again. He is always a cutie.

Great title and intro Diana. Especially loved this turn of phrase:

Erick and Serg are on a mission – a missing person mission.

And also your inclusion of Jack looking a bit shame-faced after preaching forgiveness to Yameli. While it's true that forgiveness is peace-giving and bitterness and revenge-seeking are not; no one has the right to tell you when and how to forgive. That can only be done by you.

I was reading a story about the Amish whose young daughters were killed by that gunman several years ago. Their religion teaches that you forgive immediately. But the parents shared that actually bringing their feelings into congruence with the forgiveness decision was the work of many years...perhaps forever. And that each day they had to work again to deal with their own anger and pain.

All this to say in her own time and own way, I'm sure Yameli will find her way to peace. But it will be a long process. And very dramatic I'm sure! given that this is a telenovela.

Diana, I marvel that you can work at a demanding job, with a long, stressful commute both ways, and then come home and write a recap of a telenovela in a foreign language. I know you are motivated by your generous heart that wants to step in and help when there are simply not enough recappers to go around. But I am blown away by your dedication and giving spirit. Putting you in the Recappers Hall of Fame, sweet lady!

Yes, Jarifa, he was a perfect choice for the role. Clearly older than the young, passionate Silvia but totally charming and seductive. It would be hard to resist such a galan! At any age.

Rgv Chick, thank youu for filling in what I missed and answering my questions!

Excellent point about Serg's mother recalling nothing of Yameli. I guess we must assume it's too early for that secret. I don't think the young Yameli looks anything like she does now Charly is a different story.

So Ben wanted Yameli to remove the mic but she was too late. Yes, I am wondering what is going to happen. Time is running out. Unless Ben is able to sneak in and take it? The clock is ticking.

You are so kind to help me. And I did think the tape was Erick. Did they make the changes Charly wanted?

You are the best - Diane

Judy, I am smiling happily at your lovely words. You unfailingly make us feel valued and appreciated. You created such a high standard of excellence years ago with your recaps that always inspired me. You always make me want to do the best I am capable of and I will do that as long as I am able.

You have such a wise perspective on forgiveness. I believe it takes time to forgive the most grievous hurts. And then it often is difficult to truly do so.

I am enjoying this and our little circle of friends. Stories are meant to be shared and enjoyed together. I'm so happy we are doing that here!

Diana

Diana and Chickie..Thank you so much. I would be !let without you both.
How long was Charly gone? He seems to have recovered from that BEth knife would and the whack who treated him very quickly. I worry about Yami being discovered and in danger once again from Charly and Monchis.

Jarifa, Thank you for recapping Sylvia. I am a big fan of Marcello. I wE a !little jolted when sudden!y a new actress was playing the part of Sylvia. I am unsure exact!y she the switch was made. Was it at the hairdresser when she had who hair cut a la Marilyn Monroe?

Not a good morning here. ...a spill I had to clean up on the kitchenfloor before I could have my breakfast and then a snake and a stray cat in the backyard when I went out to do some yardwork. Uff

Thank you, Diana, Rgv Chick.

About Diana (the character.) Yameli told Jack that she is not going to touch Vanesa, but Diana is fair game. Yameli knows that infidelity doesn't bother her, but what if the roles are reversed. Later during the "out of rehab" party when Diana met Juanjo and Wendy, they said they knew each other from the barrio. That made me connect today's Diana with the girlfriend Charly had 17 years ago. The one that was the bully who grabbed Yameli's notebook and read the words of "Reflejo", the most famous Charly's song, and made fun of her. Later, Diana asked Charly, why he burned Yameli's notebook. Meaning she knew the songs are Yameli's and Charly stole them.

SILVIA OR REINA--
Pardon me for intruding, since I'm behind Silvia (by just one episode now), but I'm not watching Reina. When you don't put the title heading before your comment, I have to stop and read it, not knowing which show it's referring to. Maybe it doesn't matter to you 'all who know what you are watching, but it might for any latecomers. I'm finding that out now that I'm watching Falco and need Caray to fill out what's left out on YouTube.

SILVIA
Jarifa--How remiss of me. Thank you for doing these recaps. It's a perfect match to what I'm watching.

Oh, oh, oh, nooooo. Girdles, pointy "cross your heart" uplift bras for any size. I remember some of my friends stuffing their bras to make them look bigger. Fortunately (or unfortunately) I went from nothing to size B overnight.

Those girdles--with the ganchos to hold up your stockings. Blessed be the inventor of seamless stockings and then along came panty hose to save my day. My mother used garters to hold up her stockings and there was nothing sexy about them--unless you are in a movie scene where "she" unrolls her garter-held stockings for "him." Somehow undoing your garter belt or girdle wouldn't have had the same effect on a guy. (Guys in the movies, of course. What do I know about real life?)

"REINA":

Diana: The plot thickens.

SILVIA

Jarifa, thank you for recapping last night so perfectly.

I couldn't tear my eyes away. First, because it was Marcelo Cordoba but the acting and story are totally intriguing.

Itati is a revelation here.

Diana

REINA

Lucio, your comment put a totally different spin on this for me. So Diana bullied Yameli?

If there is one thing I loathe - it's a bully. That puts things in perspective for me. I'm feeling not so badly for Diana.

Your keen eye is so helpful - thank you so very much!

Diana

SILVIA

Thanks, Jarifa. Your mini-recaps are the best.

Whoa, Silvia and Arturo were smoking hot. I took a look online at the film they were making, a film noir with humor.

Looks like Sylvia has never changed her lipstick preference. Young sexy Silvia and senior narrator Silvia seem to be wearing the same shade of red.

REINA
Susanlynn, you mentioned not liking Charley's gruesome bullet removal. On the other hand, I was please to see him suffer. I can be mean like that.
OT--sorry for your problems with the kitchen floor and the critters.

Now Yameli has to careful around the girls from the barrio (Diana and Wendy), in addition to dealing with whatever the videotape reveals. The suspense is building every episode.

SILVIA
Loved Silvia's makeover into a blonde bombshell! Also enjoying the fabulous fashions from the 50s. Her romance with Arturo was sizzling. Marcelo Cordoba was the perfect actor for this part.

Good Afternoon to All! Bsusy week-end kept me away. This morning Iwas going to come sit in the patio for a while, but God had other plans for me. He sent me some clouds and told me to get off my a** and go mow the lawn. When God speaks, I listen :-)

Anywho, WOW! such great comment,I don't know where to start.

REINA-SOY
Diana, Juanjo made enough changes to the Cris's demo to please Charlie, but he kept alot of what he thought would make the song a hit; so it was a combination of their ideas.

Lucio, thak you for confirming who Diana is/was. I really wasn't sure so I hadn't mentioned anything, though I did know that Diana followed Charlie to Miami. This "Yameli knows that infidelity doesn't bother her, but what if the roles are reversed" is intriguing because if Diana has ALWAYS been with Charlie, could it be that she has never been with anyone else? Diana and Charly have an "understanding" (according to Charly) but is it one-sided? My inquiring mind wants to know!

JudyB, "regarding forgiveness, " ...the parents shared that actually bringing their feelings into congruence with the forgiveness decision was the work of many years...perhaps forever." very understandable. Depending on the circumstances, it is almost impossible to "forgive and forget." especially the forget part.

SILVIA

Jarifa, thank you so much for the cliff notes on Friday's episode. I missed it completely, but at least I feel I'm still up to date. Muchisimas gracias!

Anita, "Oh, oh, oh, nooooo. Girdles, pointy "cross your heart" uplift bras for any size." DITTOOO! Actually, I never wore those, but my mama did and they looked torturous...but she wouldn't leave home without 'em :)

REINA

Rgv Chick, thanks for explaining that some (but not all) of the changes Charly requested were made on Chris' demo. I like that Juanjo and Yameli stood up for what they thought was right. Giving an inch is different from giving a mile.

I also wondered a little earlier on if the Diana/Charly "understanding" was on both sides. Now due to what you are pondering, maybe she hasn't been with anyone else. It will be exciting to see what happens.

Yes La Paloma, Yameli does need to be careful with Diana and Wendy. And Charly. Sigh.

Diana

REINA

Maybe Diana hasn't been with anyone else, but she sure seemed to be thinking about it when she was negotiating with her daughter's sleazy modeling executive.

"REINA":

Judy: Yameli needs to be very careful because if somebody like Wendy or Diana find out her true agenda, watch out!

REINA-SOY

JudyB, "Maybe Diana hasn't been with anyone else, but she sure seemed to be thinking about it when she was negotiating with her daughter's sleazy modeling executive." Very true!! Although that sleazy exec is much better looking than Charly...IMO...but then both are sleazeballs aren't they? Maybe Diana just attracts amoebas...

SILVIA

Thanks, everyone for your comments. : ) This is sure turning out to be one interesting life story.
