Doc Erick sees Yola and says any confidential information you want on any patient, just ask. Let's go have a cup of coffee. Yeah, I work in Emergency but those patients can wait, I'm busy flirting.

Marina needs some help navigating the streets? No problem, Toribio can go with her. Toribio? OK.

Angustias slyly puts another bug in Prudy's ear.


But poor Lino gets his heart broken yet again. All in all, it was a rough day for Lino.

Ep 66: Part 1 The Birdie Has Fried Wings

Marina unfreezes her hug that she has been giving Yola all week-end and next she hugs Mago who she knew would be big and strong. After she explains that employees get a discount, Marina informs them that Mago won’t be able to be examined until the next day. After Mari leaves, Yola wants to go have a bite to eat, then they can go to the TV station to see if Lino got into the talent show. Lino gulps hard and lies that he can’t invite them to the TV station until they accept him.

Don Louse chides ZackAss for not telling him that Mago was in town. ZackAss informs him that Mago is off to the city for some business with his daughter.

As Mago & Co. leave the hospital, Don L calls Mago demanding to know why he is in the city, so Mago confides that he is there for some medical exams.

At the wedding prep luncheon. HilDeRigs wants hibiscus and orchids for the wedding—she saw it in a movie. Chucha argues that those flowers are outdated and it was probably an old movie. Vanesa interjects and sides with HilDeRigs which impresses HilDeRigs…Vanesa tells Chucha to give in bit. HilDeRIgs is glad Edson captured Vane’s heart.

Marina leaves for the day and bumps into Beto who stands frozen and doesn’t say a word. Since he didn’t have the decency to apologize for bumping into her, Marina leaves.

Pru and Don L talk about Mago. Don L thinks Mago is lying and just wants to chase his daughter to the city. Pru calls Beto to ask that he check on Mago.

The ER nurse goes to Doc Rick and asks for the job of his retiring nurse. She wants to change position because Eric doesn’t exactly know what he is doing and she has to correct him all the time. Doc Rick agrees to hire her.

Chucha complains to Pru and Don L about HilDeRigs. Pru suggests that Chucha allow Vanessa to make her own decisions since it is her wedding. When Pru and Don L suggest that Vanesa should take more time and not rush into marriage, Chucha takes offense and walks out. Don L asks Pru to apologize to Chucha, but Pru refuses since this is her house and she didn’t say anything any thing offensive. Pru thinks that the one who needs to apologize is Don L since he keeps asking her to be at home whereas he hardly ever comes home for lunch and is coming in later every day. When he asks why she is going to the foundation everyday, she corners him and asks how he knows she goes everyday. Don L slithers out of it by saying that it’s just a comment. Pru tells him that he shouldn’t demand of her what he isn’t willing to give.

Marina complains to Baldo about the rude doctor who didn’t apologize and kept looking at her. Baldo thinks it’s some uppity doctor who looks down on people. Marina hopes she never bumps into him again. Meanwhile Beto is telling Eric how he bumped into Marina. He didn’t want to speak because he didn’t know how Mari would react in hearing his voice. They wonder why Mari is spending so much time at he hospital; so Eric goes snooping around and finds out that Marina is working as a receptionist for Doc Rick. Beto is not a happy camper.

Angy notices that Pru is upset with Don L. Pru confides that it’s because of what happened with Chooch the Hooch…and because the Louse is having her followed. When Angy suggests that Pru is the one who should have Louse followed, Pru thinks that Louse is incapable of lying to her. She asks Angy is she thinks Louse has a lover, but Angy tightens up…she wouldn’t put her hands in the fire for Louse, but if Pru wants to think that Louse is incapable of cheating on her…then it’s better for Pru.

Ep 66: Part 2 The Birdie Has Fried Wings

Marina confides in Yola about Doc Rick’s declaration of luurve. Yola can’t believe it since Doc Rick looks like the quiet type. Mari continues that she had to quit her job, but then Doc Rick offered her the job at the hospital and promised they would only have a working relationship. Yola doesn’t think Mari should shut the door on another relationship.

Doc Rick talks to Encarny about Mari’s first day of work. He doesn’t think Mari has seen Beto yet; and the more he thinks about it, the more he thinks having her work there is a bad idea. Encarny however thinks that if Marina can find closure from her past, Rick can have a chance at winning her love.

Anita tries to talk Lino into telling his father and Yola the truth, but Lino just can’t disappoint his family. Anita reminds him that he has to work that night and needs to find some excuse to go out that night Meanwhile, the others are talking about sleeping arrangements. When Dami mentions that she will ask Ms. Toolkit for a cot, Baldo turns green. Later Baldo and Mago get into it. Baldo tells Mago that what bothers him is that Mago keeps calling Dami for any little thing. Mago insists that he will call Dami as many times as he wants. Tori tells the others that they are arguing, so Dami comes and asks what’s up. Mago and Baldo pretend to play nice.

Doc M looks for the little number that found him on the street and takes her to his room. The first time he was too drunk to perform, but now, despite his disfigurement, he will show her that he is a man who can love. The broad tells him to hurry and get it on…she doesn’t have all night.

Yola questions Lino since he is taking his guitar. After he makes some sorry excuse, he walks out to find Anita waiting for him so she can accompany him to the bar…so their story can jive, but Lino refuses. Before leaving, he plants a bog one on Anita which sends her up to the clouds…as Yola watches.

Broad knows that fixing Doc’s scars might be very expensive, but since the little birdie didn’t fly, he needs to take care of his other little problem in order to be the man he used to be.

Next Day—

Yola confronts Lino since he didn’ leave with his little friend last night. Yola and Mago insist and ask what is going on. Mago has noticed that things are not right and Lino wasn’t thrilled when they arrived in town. Lino finally fesses up and tells them he has been lying all along. He stutters that he didn’t audition for a talent show…he is singing in the streets for a few pesos. Mago wonders why he lied and if he lied about working at the factory; so Lino tells them he is working as a driver for Don L. Lino didn’t want them to worry; and he couldn’t return to the ranch as a failure. Lino wanted them to be proud, but Mago can’t be proud of a liar. Mago is ashamed of him…he wants to go gets his exams done ASAP so they can leave. Lino then cries to Yola that he is sorry; so she tells him to allow some time for their father to calm down.

Beto confronts Doc Rick and asks why he brought Mari to work there. Doc Rick takes Beto to his office so they can talk. Beto questions Rick’s reasons for bringing Marina there. Rick slaps him with “I had to give her vison therapy and wanted to help her…because the man she trusted turned his back on her.” Rick admits that Mari confided her history and how Beto didn’t want to be with her unless he was sure he was the daddy…a man in love wouldn’t have doubts. When Rick calls Beto a coward, Beto assures Rick that he tried to stay with Marina and support her in everything; all he wanted was a little test. Rick now understands why Mari distanced herself from him. Beto is glad that Rick is trying to help Marina, but he doesn’t think this is the place to help Marina. Rick advises that if he doesn’t want to deal with Mari he should avoid talking to her...since Mari doesn’t know what he looks like.

Ep 66: Part 3 The Birdie Has Fried Wings

The M troop try to advise and encourage Lino since his father is upset with him.

Marina and Tori are walking along when Marina bumps into a telephone. Tori gets upset and starts hitting his head...he is still having dreams that he can’t understand. He dreams of taking a young man hunting…and that dream keeps repeating itself. Marina suggests that he continue his exercises and that he should tell the doctor about this dreams.

Yola is at the hospital waiting for Mago who is getting examined, Eric approaches and introduces himself. Heart bubbles float. Meanwhile, Mago gets a call from Beto offering his help. After Beto asks that he send him his exam results, Mago agrees, but when he hangs up Mago says, “Yeah right! …after he left Marina and found solace in another woman.”

Pru gives Lino a list of fake places to report to Don L…and he can take the day off. As he leaves, Horti rambles about how no one stays for lunch. When she mentions that Vane is busy with preps, Angy tells Lino that Vane is getting married.

Eric tries to explain the exams Mago will be getting, but he seems to be speaking in Greek as far as Yola is concerned. After Yola thanks him, Eric invites her for some coffee and they go on their merry way.

Doc Mask looks into fixing the bird so it can fly, but gives up when he has to give details about himself. He then remembers that the nurse at the hospital told him they could help him…at no cost.

We all know Edson's money has captured Chuca's heart, but, whatever. Poor Vane. Hopefully she will grow a spine soon and Just Say No.

Beto The Coward was really disappointing in not speaking to Mari. The fact that she belabored the issue later on is a sign that the youknowwhat will hit the fan when she discovers who that rude doctor is. How can that now happen?

Baldo is getting snippy about Margo and acting like an eighth grader. Dude, your insecurity is showing. Baldo & Dami have not even kissed. Or held hands. Or hugged. HOW is it that they’re “a couple”? QTH anyway?

And just how many people are living in that apartment now? And sharing one bathroom? ~caray~

How convenient that Mari can get free surgery, Tori gets free treatment, and Doc Mask can get free help for his little problem ….? Are all hospitals in telenovelaland this generous?

Good recap. Chooch the Hooch is hilarious. I agree crap is going to hit the fan when Marina finds out who Beto is. Who does everyone think the couples might end up together since the couples are kinda up,in the air

Rgv Chickie, thank you for a delicious and extremely helpful recap. I watched this earlier and very much enjoyed it, but a lot of it went right over my head even when I should have guessed. Like Erick being the reason Nurse Nice is wanting to change her work. I just didn't get most of the conversation, but I should have remembered Erick works in Emergency. He also seems to be Missing in Action a lot, especially when he comes across a good looking woman.
I just loved "HilDeRigs", "Chooch the Hooch", "ZackAss", and more. I think you were having some fun here, Chickie.
I don't always pay a lot of attention to the recap title, and "The Birdie Has Fried Wings" stumped me. I got it farther into the recap     :-)

No, I don't think so. In lots of hospitals in telenovelaland people gasp when they get an idea of the cost, if they will even admit you if you don't have insurance or wads of money. But not to fear, there is usually some quite rich person there who offers to pay all the expenses.
Alternatively, if you are a very good-looking woman that an important doctor has the hots for, things just seem to happen...     :-)

I don't know, and that for me is one of the especially fun parts of this TN, that it casts just enough doubt on the outcomes to make things unsure.

Andy Banda. You are so,right that is what makes the telenovela interesting. No one knows who's going to end up,with who. For me I would like to see Marina end up with Ricardo. But hey that's just my preference
 

WAIT ! Marina is a receptionist now? What is she recepting? She can't even read or write. Those skills are learned over years when the brain is young and tuned to learn. It would be much harder now as old as she is. Reading and writing are not instinct, like, maybe making an Aire Baby.

How does she walk around alone? How does she know to look at people when they talk? Is there an "I can see clearly now" app?

I believe I prefer to just drop into this show sporadically when it is too hot out to do anything else. That way you are not indoctrinated to accept these TNutty things without thinking.

Saints505, I definitely don't want Marina to end up with Beto. Not too sure about Doc Rick, but he's a good prospect. I think I would rather see Marina on her own at the end with her baby and being a successful doctor. Love can come later. I think Yola might be able to tame Eric; and Lino and Vanessa? Well, it would be nice if they ended up together, but Anita is such a sweetie that I wouldn't mind if he ended up with her instead.

Kirby, Doc Rick is giving Marina "vision therapy" and Damiana is probably giving her some type of miracle tea...in combination, they give her super powers, except for those darn phone booths!

Ep 50: Part 1 Splittin’ Town

Lola talks to Tito who is down. She thinks he’s brooding about Flor, but he is past that. When Tito tells Lola that he thought they were getting along so well and having fun together, Lola realizes where he is going, but she thinks they are just good friends. Tito tells her not to worry about; she should go on and fulfill her dream of becoming a superstar. He’ll be fine.

Mariana has her dinner made by Ati…it was delicious, blah, blah, blah. After Ati washes dishes, Mariana offers him some coffee, but it’ll only keep him awake and he politely bows out promising to make her many more delicious dishes.

Teo and Oscar continue their conversation which gets them nowhere. Teo is very upset and disappointed—not because Oscar is transgender and likes to wear women’s clothes, but because Oscar didn’t confide in him when he was old enough to have understood. Teo thought they were very close; Oscar was his friend and confidante whom he trusted…now all that is gone. Teo doesn’t even want to try to understand and asks Oscar to leave. Later, Teo goes upstairs and tells Flor, quite bluntly, to mind her own business…the problem is between him and his father, so Flor needs to stay out of it. Val is there smiling from ear to ear because there are problems in paradise.

Oscar goes to a café, but is asked to leave since he is making the people uncomfortable.

Mariana tells Flor about her dinner with Ati who is a perfect gentleman whom she is learning so many things from. She likes him, but she worries about what Xochitl will think. Flor advises that she should be straight with Xochitl.

Rose goes to Ati’s room where he is going to start by doing a pencil sketch of her face. As he has his head down and prepares his sketch book, Rose throws her dress at him. He looks up and sees her in her birthday suit. He must not have been impressed because he covers his eyes with her dress.

Lola goes to talk to her Aunt Jovita. She isn’t going for her money, she just wants to let her know that she is leaving to Las Vegas. Lola knows that Jovita never believed in her, but she loves her aunt…that’s what’s most important.

Marga goes to say her final good-bye to Chile. She has decided to leave town after all, but she is leaving alone…and there is no turning back.

 

FLOR (highlights)
Ep 50: Part 2 Splittin’ Town

A group of townspeople join and chant “ We are all equal” as they approach Oscar who is accompanied by Elpi and Flor. As Flor tells Oscar that he has supporters, Jovita and her mob approach as they yell out their slurs. Oscar shouts at them to stop; they don’t have to fight amongst each other. He has made a decision—he is leaving this town that hates him so much. Flor asks him not to leave, but Oscar is leaving forever…there is nothing more to do. After Oscar walks away, Elpi tries to quiet the mob, but it’s useless.

Flor goes to Teo and tells him that his father is leaving town, but Teo doesn’t care. Flor is very disappointed in Teo’s attitude and suggests that they have some time apart to think things through since she doesn’t know this man who is standing before her.

Rose is now dressed as Ati apologizes that he wasn’t clear that he only wanted to paint her face. Embarrassed, Rose thought he wanted to paint her nude body, but apparently he didn’t like it. Ati assures her that she is beautiful…every woman has their own beauty. Rose thinks he’s just trying to be nice.

Flor gets home and is scared out of her wits by Val. She screams and tells him to stay out of her marriage. Val knows Flor is feeling bad, but also know that she is feeling bad for Oscar and because she doesn’t like how the people are being so unjust. Flor still insists that Val leave…NOW! Aure then calls Flor since he heard about Oscar, but he also wanted to remind her that they still need to deal with their mother.

Tere tells Rose how the town mob forced Oscar to leave town; Oscar looked so unhappy. Rose isn’t listening because no man likes her. Tere advises that men and woman don’t speak the same language; men usually don’t understand what they want to say.

Flor goes to Marga’s house and sees the brochures that Marga has of places she might go to. She calls Aure to let him know.

Mica is talking to Teo about how some people think that his father’s preference is an illness. Elpi arrives and asks Teo to go to the church; there is someone there he needs to see.

Mariana is talking to Ati when Xochitl sees them and wants to go say hi. Aure doesn’t let her go and tells her that since he and her mother got a divorce, her mother has a new friend who seems to be very important to her. Xochitl wonders if the friend is more important than her.

Tere encourages Rose by telling her that she is a successful woman who helped her. Love will come in time. Flor arrives and tells Rose that they need to talk.


 

FLOR (highlights)
Ep 50: Part 3 Splittin’ Town

Flor, Rose and Aure talk to Marga about what she is planning. Marga tells them not to waste their time because she has made up her mind. Flor points out that those decisions should be made by the family, but Marga wonders what family Flor is talking about since they don’t seem to be a family anymore.

A young woman talks to Teo in the church. She confides how she wrote in to Celeste’s program about problems she was having when she became estranged from her father. Celeste advised her and was always very understanding and gave her advice to open up her heart to her family. Celeste gave her the courage to write to her father whom she is now reunited with. The young woman will not judge Celeste just because she is a man in women’s clothes.

Teo goes to check on Sami who asks about his father and wonders if Teo will settle his differences with Oscar. She knows from her own experience as the youngest child of her father’s “casa chica” (th “other” family) what it is to be estranged from her father who died before she could mend fences with him…she never got to give him a hug. Later, Sami tells Octi that they should work together to make the casino a success...but they will only be partners. Octi agrees, but doesn’t look that excited. He confides that he overheard what she told Teo and wonders why she never shared that with him. Sami simply didn’t think he cared.

Teo recalls his younger and happier days with his father. One Christmas, Oscar gave him a photo album with pictures of them and told Teo that though his mother was not in the photos, they would remain strong…and that strength and love would never disappear.

Marga tells her children that her husband was a good father, but that was it. They liked each other and respected each other, but with Elpi she found passion and adventure; and she felt like a real woman. Being unfaithful to her father has tormented her all through the years and she regretted it. When she found out that she was pregnant, she did everything to protect Aure because she knew that people and even her husband would treat the baby differently. She was angry with Elpi for leaving her alone; so she held on to her family…so they could be a godly family. Rose reminds her that her relationship with Chile is not one God would want, and Marga agrees, but that doesn’t matter anymore. When Marga shares that she thought she might find love again, Flor agrees that she deserves to find love and be happy. Marga then tells them that she has never felt more alone than she does now; and it doesn’t make sense that she stay…so they need to respect her decision.

Rgv Chick, this was written with heart which shines through. Loved the title.

This seemed so utterly sad...

"Rose throws her dress at him. He looks up and sees her in her birthday suit. He must not have been impressed because he covers his eyes with her dress" and "...Rose reminds her that her relationship with Chile is not one God would want". What struck me is that Rose has no pride, no shame and even less self respect. Cringeworthy.

So the truth is out. "Oscar gave him a photo album with pictures of them and told Teo that though his mother was not in the photos, they would remain strong…and that strength and love would never disappear". I wish Oscar had told Teo and while it might have made a bit of difference, Teo seems (surprisingly) closed off and somewhat on his moral high horse.

"Marga then tells them that she has never felt more alone than she does now; and it doesn’t make sense that she stay". She is the victim of her own selfishness, someone whom I don't believe ever really understood how to receive it or to love...

Meanwhile, Val seems content to be on the sidelines as everything implodes.

It seems Oscar has done much good. It would be nice if he were given the chance to be himself...

Ep 67: Part 1 I Quit! No, I Quit! Oh NO, NO, If He Quits, I Quit!

Doc Rick introduces Rita to Marina who is now is in her nursey-poo duds and hair pulled back. Afterwards, Marina asks Doc Rick to see Tori who is having strange dreams and hopes Doc can help him. Doc Rick tell her it’s not his thing, but they just hired a psychiatrist who Toei can talk to. Marina and her big smile insist that Doc Rick still hear about Tori’s dream.


Yola and Eric are having their coffee. Eric invited her out that night, but Yola graciously declines; she is returning to her hometown right after her dad gets his exams done…and even if she were to stay the night, she wouldn’t be so quick to agree to go out with him. As she leaves she repeats his very long name which impresses Eric since that must be love.


Tori tells Doc Rick about his dream. Rick listens attentively but then tells Tori he needs to see a different kind of specialist.


Lino asks Anita for his family. After she tells him they haven’t returned, shenotes his tai between his legs; so he tells her that Vani is getting married…boohoo.


Don Louse gets home calling out for Pru, but she’s not there. Horti opens her mouth and says that Pru and Angy left after talking to Lino. Cat’s out of the bag and Don Louse isn’t happy. is lying to him.


Doc Limp goes to see someone about his birdie in distress. What a coinkydink that it happens to be Lucreepy. Doc Limp tells Lucreepy his version of how he got scorched…ever since then the bird has been grounded. Lucreepry then explains that the exams are free and that he doesn’t have to answer any questions that he feels uncomfortable answering…and they don’t even mind that he is using a fake name because the name he gave just doesn’t jive for him.


Mari is setting up refreshments in the meeting room when she here’s someone mention Dr. Ocaranza as they talk to him. She turns and see Beto, her not-so-galan, standing like an idiot except for the shaking of his head. She scurries off muy impactada.


Marina goes straight to Doc Rick’s office and must talk to him. She wants to know if he knew that Beto worked here. Of course, he did; he was just trying to help Marina face her feelings and make sure that that chapter in her life is closed. Marina doesn’t need or appreciate Doc Rick’s audacity to try to set her up for a reconciliation with Beto; she wants nothing to do with a man who was never for her. He needs to look for a new receptionist because she quits! Doc Rick asks that Marina stay until he comes back. Marina will remain until he finds a replacement.
 

MIRADA
Ep 67: Part 2 I Quit! No, I Quit! Oh NO, NO, If He Quits, I Quit!

Beto is in a meeting with some other doctors, but his mind is clearly elsewhere.

Anita is encouraging Lino; he should be proud of himself. Just then Don Louse calls him and asks whre he is. Lino lies and tells him they are at a shopping center. After Don L hangs up he curses Lino..heis just like his father.


Vanesa tries on a wedding dress that Chooch thinks makes her look a cake…it’s not even a designer label. Vanesa likes the dress and tells HildeRigs that she will get that dress. HideRigs then comments about the guestlist…it’s too long and Chooch needs to cut by half. Later when Chooch chides Vanesa for going against everything she is suggesting, Vanesa reminds her that Chooch wanted her to win over the mom-in-law…and that’s what she’s doing.


Lucreepy tells Doc Limp that his problem is probably psychological. She gives him more info and tells him that he can make his own appointments…they will see him as often as he needs and wants. Later Lucreepy tells her father about this masked man who seems to have a lot of anger. Dad tells her to be careful.


Doc Rick talk to Beto after the meeting and tells him that Marina wants to quit because she doesn’t want to see or hear from him…it’s not right that Marina is always the one to give up something on his account. When Beto asks Doc Rick to ask Marina to stay and tell Marina that he will not bother her, Doc Rick tells him, “Tell her yourself.”



Beto goes to see Marina. When he calls out her name, she addresses him very formally and asks how she can help him. Beto just came to talk and assure her that he is not going to bother her. She shouldn’t quit her job because she has the baby to take care of. Marina doesn’t need his advice and he has no rigt to be giving his opinion about her baby. When she insists on quitting, Beto tells her that he will be the one to quit so she can keep her job.


Mago and Yola are the hallway discussing the exams. The results won’t be ready, but Magi insists on going back home because Zackass might go running to the Louse and get him in trouble. Beto approaches and tells Mago not to worry; he will talk to his father. Beto knows that they don’t think highly of him, but he wants to take over Mago’s case and do whatever he can to help Mago.


Angy talks to Lino about Vanessa’s wedding which is more Chooch’s doing. Lino thinks Vanessa should have fought for their love.


HildeRigs and Vanesa have lunch. When Vanesa mentions that half the people on their list are her mother’s friends, HildeRigs is happy that she can take some of the people off the list. HildeRigs is so happy with all of Vanesa’s decisions because they show that she is not after Edson’s money, but rather that Vanesa is truly in love with her son.


Beto goes to see Dr. Zamudia and tells him that he is quitting. Dr. Z warns Beto that he is giving up a golden opportunity. Lucreepy comes in and finds out that Beto is quitting. She questions his reason, but his lips are sealed and not even her kisses can open them up.


Mago and Yola arrive at the vivienda where Lino sits on the steps waiting for them. Lino purs out his heart to them and apologizes for are the lies. He admits that he came to the city hoping to hit it big so that he could become rich and give Vanessa everything she wanted…but he failed big time. Now Vanesa is marrying some rich guy who will give her all she wants. After Lino promises never to lie to them again, they hug and make up.


Doc Rick tells Encarny about Beto quitting his job so that Marina can continue working. That shows him that Beto still loves Marina and they do have a chance of reconciling. Doc Rick doesn’t want to witness that reconciliation, so he will be the one to quit.

The whole "I'll quit" ... "no, I'll quit" thing got very eight grade. Seriously, those two need to get back together again so they can suffer with each other. They truly are a cautionary tale regarding marrying someone you don't know at all.

Eric looked a bit surprised that Yola turned down his date offer. It has probably been a long while since that happened to him. But, hey! She remembered his mile-long name! It's got to be true luuuurve! Destiny!

Vane really gets a long well with Hilda. It's hard to tell if that is because she promised Chuca she would, or if it is a way to just stick it to Chuca's control issues over the wedding.

Why does my telenovela radar make me think the relationship with Doc Mask and Doc Rapunzel is not over yet? Kidnapping perhaps? (that's a bingo square waiting to be crossed off) Might she fall for the wounded bird? Recommend him to Daddy Dearest and his plastic surgeon knife? *(I will never be able to look at Carlos de la Mota the same way again, after this role. He is doing THAT GOOD a job with it)

QTH? If Beto is going to quit his job, how can he be Margo's doctor? He would have no more access to hospital records, test results, right? Imbécil.

FLOR (highlights)
Ep 51 Reconciliations

Today’s episode primarily focused on Marga and Teo.

Marga—

Rose, Flor and Aure discuss Marga’s situation in the kitchen. Rose thinks they should just let Marga go on to the old folk’s home so she can play cards all day, but Flor thinks they were too harsh on Marga…after all everyone makes mistakes. After Aure sides with Flor, they all go into Marga’s bedroom and asks her to allow them 24 hours to give her an appropriate farewell. Marga agrees. Afterwards, Aure goes to Chile and tells him that he comes in peace to tell him that they are willing to accept their mother’s relationship with Chile. Chile is elated and hugs Aure who explains that they love their mother and they don’t want her to leave.

The siblings prepare the farewell celebration and Chile arrives with his human-sized teddy bear and a rose for Marga. Since they are all together, he wants to take the opportunity to ask for Marga’s hand in marriage and proposes to her. Marga accepts!

Teo—

Teo recalls his younger years when his father was always there for him when he was sick and on special occasions such as his graduation from the doctoral school. He goes to Mica and shares that he was very harsh and unfair to his father who has always been there for him. Teo doesn’t want to lose his father; so Mica suggests that Teo go after Oscar and get him to come back. Teo, however, wants to do it the “Celeste” way, so he and Mica head to Oscar’s broadcast station and figure out how to emit Teo’s message to his father. The townspeople listen as Teo starts his heartfelt speech and apology. As soon as Elpi hears it, he calls Oscar and uses his phone so that Oscar can listen to Teo who is very sorry for being so unfair and not listening. Teo doesn’t care is Oscar wants to be a woman or dresses up as one; he just wants his father to return so they can continue the relationship they have always had. After the speech Oscar calls Teo and agrees to meet him at the bus station. Flor, who also heard the speech arrives at the station and praises Teo for his speech. As she hugs him, Val watches and is disheartened at how Flor hugs Teo and praises him; he goes off alone and cries as he finally starts to accept that he is a mere ghost who can’t feel—he knows he loves Flor, but he can’t feel it in his heart…he can touch Flor, but he can feel her.

At the bus station, a very apologetic son hugs his father and is very happy to have him back. Teo promises to always stand up for Oscar against anyone; he will not allow anyone to humiliate or chastise his father. Teo wants to go straight home, but Oscar has something he has to do first. They go to Nestor’s office where Oscar tells him that heis going to file charges against Nestor for violating Oscar’s rights and for entering his station and removing his belongings. Oscar will make sure that Nestor will no longer be the town’s police chief.

Other—

Flor confides in Mariana that she can see, hear and touch Val. Mariana thinks Flor is going crazy and insists that she needs to see a psychiatrist; so Flor summons Val to prove to Mariana that the is really there. When Mariana sees a vase floating around as if being carried, she freaks and runs out. Later, Flor finds Mariana and brings her back to her house where she confides that she has done “everything” with Val whom she is still in love with.

Lola says good-bye to Tito. She tells him that he is the best thing that happened to her in that town. He was there for her when she was at her lowest point in her life; and she will never forget that. Tito wishes her well and tells her that he will always remember their moments together. He knows she has to follow her path, just as he will follow his own.

Rgv Chickie, thank you for your great efforts, they are much appreciated. The fact that you are recapping just about everything while having power outages, etc., makes me very worried about your clones. This might be too much for them. Next you know the night prowler could come back.

Great title, btw. I lost track of things, I don't know if they have settled on someone in particular to quit or if everyone will just quit. It was news to me that Doc Ricky might quit also, I missed that but I went back to listen and read the CC. I'm definitely still in his camp, I'd rather see him with Marina than Beto. While he had hoped that there were no longer feelings between Marina and Beto he was still happy at the idea that she might happy. He just doesn't want to have to watch any reconciliation.

Btw, Marina was definitely looking hot "...in her nursey-poo duds and hair pulled back." She's probably thinking "Now maybe those rotten Caray people will stop criticizing the way I was dressing. Hey, I was blind for Pete's sake!"

Doris, maybe you were right about that hospital. Doc Mask just calls in and gets a (free!) appointment right away with Doc Rapunzel, using a phony name, and she tells him he can count on them to help him whenever/however. I wonder if they even have a billing department in that hospital.

Vanesa was really looking good in that bridal dress. I have a thing for brides in wedding dresses. I especially like those with petticoats or whatever they are. Not quite a fetish, but close.    :-)

And I absolutely love it when the bride gathers up the skirts and runs away. I just love that for some reason. Somebody remind me, who was it who took the bus home? I think that was Maite, but I'm not sure.

Ah, well. We have to find fun in these TNs where we can. Otherwise we would burn out our beanie propeller motors.

Oh, another thing. I may have misjudged Doc Euwww! He may be even worse than I was thinking. I always assumed that he didn't do anything with Marina because his conscience wouldn't let him. If it was just a fried or limp birdie, that's a different, much worse, story.

MIRADA Ep 68 Part 1 of 2
IN WHICH NOBODY RESIGNS THEIR JOB


Here is my recap, not necessarily in the order it was televised. Parts may be incomplete, or overlooked in transcribing. Caray. Please feel free to correct or add to this. My closed captions are pathetic (looking at you ATT-Uverse).

Doc Mask had the day off. No sightings today. Yay!

Everyone asks Marga if they have any answers from the results. HE says the matasanos don’t’know yet and as far as he knows, it’s just a bunch of aches and pains. (let’s hope that’s all it is and nothing devastating)

Doc Bazan tells his mother that HE might be the one that quits his job over the MariBeto stuff..( His mother seems awfully wrapped up in his life. Could that be why his first marriage tanked? Just sayin’…)

Damiana notes to the gang, over dinner, that Marina has been acting odd ever since she got home from work. Nobody knows why.

Anita and her mom discuss the Dami-Margo-Baldo triangle. Doña Chule says Dami’s phone convos with Margo sound more like they are like novios than friends.

Marina tells Yola about SEEing Beto for the first time. She is so involved in this, about their history, memories, blah blah blah, and all the while the baby is crying in the background. The writers have been reading our comments here about the Baby That Never Cries. It’s over. Finally, Yola tells Marina that she needs to quit worrying about Beto and his job, and worry more about herself. (you go, Yola)

Pru & Beto talk, he is surprised that Pru never mentioned that she is in contact with Marina. He also tells Pru that he is going to resign from the hospital. She suggests they both grow up and talk it out. Beto also informs Pru that he and Rapunzel are now novios. Her reply: you sure didn’t waste any time moving on.

Rapunzel asks her dad to offer Beto more money to stay on. They both agree, this is not like her to want to keep someone so close, but she has never been in luuuuurve before, either. Hide the bunny rabbit.

Encarnacion visits Mariana at home and has a baby gift. She tells Marina that Bazan will not stand in the way of a Mari/Beto reconciliation, if it ends up that way. Mari’s happiness comes first, for Doc Bazan. Awww…

Marina decides to keep her job.

Yola tells Mari that Beto wants to quit his job so that Mari won’t have to see him with his new novia. Que??? Yep, her dad saw those to besando, although for all she knows, it might be how the doctors there say “hi” and “’bye” to each other. Riiiight, Yola, you know better.
 

MIRADA Ep 68
IN WHICH NOBODY RESIGNS THEIR JOB - Part 2 of 2

Chuca goes off on Vane over the wedding plans re: Chu not getting her way. (BTW, who IS paying for this shindig???) Vane blocks the slap. Yayyyy!!! It’s about time. Vane lays into Chuca, reminding her that she is doing everything Chooch wants, so just let go of control of the wedding itself. Chooch is worried about her friends’ opinions.

Eric is at a bar with Beto, discussing their problems, and Eric gets a call … he has to go in to the hospital. Really? Should a doc on call be out drinking? Whatever. I’m waiting for the malpractice case.


Luis wants nooky with Pru, who tells him that first she wants a little romance; the romance is gone from this marriage. Luis is like, Que??? He tells her they are not a “romantic” type couple, he turns to leave and says “enjoy your book.” Pru does not look completely devastated. Hmmm……

Marina Goes to Beto’s office to discuss their situation. She is staying on, and their interactions will be strictly professional. Beto tries to get some sympathy for HIS feelings (dude…!), but Marina keeps the focus on herself (‘bout time, girl!).

Doña Chule offers to Marga to take him out on the town, or STTE. Damia steps in and tries to block this, but Marga says “sure!” Dami gets in a huff and leaves the table. Chule follows her, calls her “Dami” and is corrected -- call me Damiana. Chule says ‘you have Baldo, you have inspired me! So why can’t I take Margo out?” This is all so high school. The date is on, in case you were wondering.

Los Ocaranza are sitting around discussing Vane’s upcoming boda. Blah Blah Blah. Angustias asks Vane “Are you sure about this?” Vane is, like, oh, yeah, I’m good. Chu is still in a snit that she can’t run the wedding her way.

Luis informs Paulino that he is to drive Vanesa to the church on her wedding day. Oh noes! Lino tries to wiggle out of it, with no luck.

Zamudio is glad Beto is not resigning. (so is Rapunzel)

Erik tries to get nurse Maria to give him Yola’s contact info. No way, bless your heart, apparently HIPAA laws apply to family members, in telenovelaland.

Bazan walks in on Beto kissing Rapunzel. Bazan later tells his mom that he is appalled over Beto kissing Lucrecia (yes, Bazan, Beto has moved on that quickly) , and is now determined to win Marina’s heart.

Rapunzel also found out that Marina works at the hospital. “Is that the one my novio cannot forget?” Cara de impacatada.

In other news: Rapunzel is the shrink Toribio is assigned to. The plot just thickens.

Busted! Pru is out shopping with Angustias for a dress for Vane’s boda, and Luis happens to see them. The dress shopping isn’t going well, either. Why doesn’t she just wear something already in her closet? But I guess a girl has to try. He tails them and cannot figure out what they are up to. Then he gets a call from Lino, reporting in that” the ladies are still at the foundation”. Ruh-roh! And Luis is thinking “foundation, tu abuela” but tells Paulino that he needs to give him a bonus for a job well done.

And that’s it. I need ice cream. ;-)

Thanks Doris! I think you covered everything. I found this episode all kinds of awkward from Ric walking in on Beto and Rapunzel kissing to Lino finding out he’s Vane’s chofer to her wedding to Luis not getting some from Pru.

And I know they’re technically supposed to be professional at work but it’s still weird hearing Marina being all formal with Beto, only calling him “doctor”. It reminds me of past telenovelas where sometimes the young adult characters would refer to their parents by their first names if they were mad at them or estranged or whatever.

Although Marina will likely eventually find out, I’m glad Doc B bit his tongue and didn’t mention to her that Beto has a new girlfriend. I kinda doubt Beto will be the one to tell her just because he’s trying to win her back. So that MIGHT mean Rapunzel could purposefully let it slip if she has casual or work related conversations with Marina in the future.

I forgot to mention that Vane's girlfriends asked her if she is pregnant, because the wedding is this weekend. I don't think she ever really told them "no." Someone else questioned if she was pregnant, too, but I forget who.
 

FLOR (highlights)
Ep 52: Part 1 Codename: Ingrown Toenail

Marga and family continue their party and have a good time. Afterwards, Marga and Chile stay by themselves and Marga wants to catch up since she has missed him so much. Chile reminds her that they are going to get married and he wants to do things right. Chile finally concedes, but hopes Marga doesn’t take his strength like Samson’s strength was taken…he then wants to pray before getting it on.

Xochitl asks Mariana how old she was when she first fell in love. After Mariana replies that she was very young and that Aure was her first and only love, Mariana thinks that Xochitl might have a little friend she likes and teases her about it.

Teo goes back to his office and tells Mica that he is the happiest man in the world since his father is back and they reconciled. When he adds that he has also come to terms with Flor and has given up on his idea that she has a lover, Val smirks at the idea that Teo is doubting Flor.

Mariana has a second dinner with Ati at her home. As he leaves, Mariana tells him how much she enjoys spending time with him and learning new things from him…she likes him!

Teo gets home and tells Teo how happy he is that his father is back. Flor shares that things are going well with her mother too ,since they accepted Chile as her BF. Flor suggests that she cook something for Teo, but Teo would rather be with her and go upstairs. Once upstairs, Teo takes Flor to bed and as he kisses her, Val lies by Flor and distracts her by telling her that he needs to talk to her. Flor tries to ignore him, but when she closes her eyes, she imagines herself making love to Val. That spoiled the moment, so she tells Teo that her stomach hurts and excuses herself to the restroom. Teo is left frustrated and disappointed while Val smiles. Later Val talks to Chile and confides that he hasn’t gotten to second base ever since the last time he was with Flor. Chile advises that he try to seduce her in the same way he did the first time.

Next Day—

Elpi and Aure have breakfast together with Xochitl. Elpi hopes that they can spend more time together.

Teo confides in Mica that it has been days since he and Flor have done anything of anything. He is stumped because they are getting along well and haven’t argued anymore; he can’t get the idea that Flor might have a lover out of his head. Mica suggests that his “stalker” side come out—he should follow Flor to find out is she actually is seeing someone else. Meanwhile, Flor confides in Mariana that no matter how much she tries, she can’t be with Teo…every time she is with him, she thinks of Val and she feels guilty. Mariana suggests that she just shoo Val away, but Flor doesn’t think it is that easy since Val is three times the flirt he used to be—he makes her breakfast, sends her flowers, etc. Mariana thinks Val needs to realize that he is a ghost; when she suggests that Flor tell Teo about Flor, Flor shares that she already tried but he thought she was crazy.

Marga and Chile take a walk in town. Jovita sees them and starts spitting her venom at them, but they refuse to let her get to them.

Flor is home talking to Val when Teo walks in and asks who she is talking to. After she tells him she was talking to no one, Teo admits that he is tired of this; he knows something is wrong—she talks to herself, her behavior is odd—he wants her to tell him the truth about what is going on with her. When he asks if there is someone else, Val answers, “Yes!” Teo feels that he has every right to ask her what is going on…he feels like she is hiding something. When he asks again is she is cheating on him, Flor assures him that she isn’t…he is the love of her life.

Elpi gets his transfer papers. Oscar wonders if he is really going to leave since he just found his son and granddaughter. Elpi would like to stay, but he has gotten his orders and there is almost nothing he can do…but he can try.

Flor apologizes to Teo for sending mixed signals, she assures him that all is well . As she hugs him, Val is disappointed that she can pretend that he doesn’t exist and fades away. A little later, Val calls to Flor’s house. When Teo answers he says nothing, so Teo hangs up. Val calls a second time, but this time, when Flor answers, he starts talking to her, so Flor pretends to be talking to someone about taking classes at her academy. Teo looks at her suspiciously and tells her he needs to go back to his office. Once there, he tells Mica about the phone calls. Since he still thinks Flor has someone else, Mica again suggests that he follow her…and also hack into her phone.

Elpi calls the bishop and tries to talk him out of transferring him, but the bishop insists on transferring him since he is getting daily requests for his transfer. Later when Elpi goes to confront Jovita since he knows she is the one who is sending in the requests, she proudly admits it.

Flor confides in Mariana that Teo has accused her of cheating on him. When she tells Mariana that Val is worse than ever and shows up at all hours, Mariana suggests that Flor try an exorcism. Flor worries that Val will know what they are up to and stop them. So they come up with a code word for exorcism—“Ingrown toenail.” Just then, Flor gets a call from the national dance academy; Gris needs to go for her audition the next day. Flor goes to tell Gris the good news and adds that she will be accompanying her.

Marga is still out with Chile. As she sees young couples and other watching them, Marga expresses her concern about their age difference. Chile responds that he might have a young body, but his soul is much older. When Marga fears that he will see someone younger that he will be attracted to, Chile assures her that his eyes might see someone who is pretty, but his heart will be looking at Marga.

Val is at Teo’s office watching Teo as he surfs the internet for info on hacking phones. When Flor knocks, Teo quickly closes his laptop and unlocks the door. Flor tells him the good news that Gris has her audition in Mexico City…and she is going with her.

Mariana is at the church asking Elpi about getting rid of spirits. After he gives her a book on the subject, Mariana meets Flor and tells her that she will be reading up on the “ingrown toenails.”

Teo tells Mica that he won’t keep Flor from doing anything she wants to do, but this sudden trip she has is odd. Mica thinks that the trip is a definite sign of infidelity.

I completely missed that bit where doña Toolbelt asked Margo out and Damiana had a hissy fit. I flat out did not remember it, so I had to go to the DVR. It was a very funny scene. I can only guess that I ran to the kitchen for some coffee and didn't get back in time to see it. Rotten commercials, too many and too long most of the time, not quite long enough when I need a cuppa.


Something that I did notice, was when Vanesa blocked Chucha's slap and they then argued, Chucha was almost smiling. I don't know, but I don't really think that was intentional. Maybe she just couldn't repress the smile and they didn't want to reshoot the scene. Maybe. Anyway, Chucha looked really good when Vane was telling her off; she needs to smile more often. For me, Chucha.

I'm looking forward to Vanesa's wedding and hoping I get to see another runaway bride. At least she wouldn't have to take the bus home, Lino could take her.

From Reconciliations: "Teo promises to always stand up for Oscar against anyone; he will not allow anyone to humiliate or chastise his father" tugged at my heartstrings Rgv Chick. Just lovely. I would have loved to have seen the episode but "seeing" it from your wise and kind perception was a gift.

"Codename: Ingrown Toenail" and "Chile...hopes Marga doesn’t take his strength like Samson’s strength was taken…he then wants to pray before getting it on" had me smiling away.

"Val smirks at the idea that Teo is doubting Flor" changed my smile to a frown.

"Mica again suggests that he follow her…and also hack into her phone" and "Mica thinks that the trip is a definite sign of infidelity". How disappointing!

Exorcism? this is really getting entertaining.

But my favorite is "Chile assures her that his eyes might see someone who is pretty, but his heart will be looking at Marga." Thank goodness Chile's kindness is consistent.

Rgv Chick, you have been doing triple duty - I don't know how you have been managing it but I know your sleep and time are affected. Thank you for being stalwart and beyond generous with your precious time.

Thank you, everyone, for your kind comments and you are welcome. This is not my first recap. I think I have substitute recapped one or two other times. Between bad closed captions and my bad comprehension, I always worry that I'll get it all wrong. 😳. Qué vergüenza.

I loved Vane's wedding dress, too. It was perfect on her.

I missed Chucha smiling when Vane slapblocked©️her. Too busy looking at the subtitles. Darn.

It would be nice if Lino hijacks the bride, since he will be in the driver's seat, but Vane isn't ready for him yet. She needs to hit bottom, first. Maybe her wedding night will be it? Ew. Hope he takes those big ol' chains off first.

Hubs and I are off to see Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons tonight. We hope he still has his voice. ~ Le sigh . . .

I also thought Vane's dress was very pretty and she looked beautiful. Lucreepy was the other person who asked Vane if she was pregnant.

I know Yola had good reason to go and blab to Marina about Beto kissing Lucreepy, but for some reason, it irks me that Yola always seems to tell Marina something bad about Beto as soon as she hears. It makes me wonder if Yola is jealous of Marina.

Some was asking about some type of relationship between Lucreepy and Doc Mask. Now that Lucreepy knows tha Marina is very close and that she is obsessed with Beto, I'm wondering if she and Doc Mask will become allies. I have no idea what Lucreepy or Marina see in Beto, he's like candy without sugar (or sweetener).

I was overjoyed to see Vane stop that slap and stand up to her mother; now if only she'd get more of a backbone and stop the wedding.

Thank you, Diana, you're such a sweetheart to be sticking with this TN despite not being able to watch it.

Chile keeps me smiling; he always comes up with the greatest lines, but manages to keep a straight face and sounds so serious--that makes it even funnier. I wish you had seen the proposal, even Rose had a hard time keeping a straight face, and that's because she really wasn't as accepting of Chile as Flor and Aure.

Mica disappointed me too. She was always so good at giving advice and seemed to be the sanest of the lot. Egging Teo on about spying on Flor was an unexpected change. Que pena!

OK, so Lucreepy McSpreadem is the daughter of Doctor MackDaddy, who coinky-dinky, works at the same (only?) Hospital in Central Mexico.
