Ep 27: Part 1 Good Hits, Bad Hits…All Kinds of Hits!
Charly listens to the radio as El Buho announces that Pez Koi’s song is on top…his phone is ringing off the wall with requests for the song. Meanwhile, Serg and Erick watch the video they made with all the dancers.
Yameli calls Juanjo because she is worried that Chris’s song is climbing with “likes.’ Juanjo tells her not to worry since Erick’s song is on top.
Monchis calls Charly to tell him that he has done him his favor so now it’s time to pay up, but Charly can’t get that amount of money from the banks without raising suspicion...he needs time.
Charly glides into the breakfast room and tells the girls that he wants them to go to Luxor with him; he will probably get interviewed about Cris’s song and he wants his faaamily with him. Afterwards, he goes outside and asks Axel if he has heard the song. Axel excitedly tells Charly that he has heard the song and it is really good. When he starts to sing Pez Koi’s song, Charly gets pissy and tells him that is not Cris’s song…it’s the song of a nobody.
El Buho continues to announce that listeners are calling to hear Pez Koi’s song. Meanwhile, Charly is in his office with Diana and Vanesa who shows him Pez Koi’s video.
Yamei is talking to Juanjo about the success of Pez Koi’s song when Charly charges in and asks Yameli who Pez Koi is and why she didn’t sign him on to Luxor, but Yameli denies knowing anything about Pez Koi and points out that she was busy preparing for the release of Cris’s single. Charly thinks that they didn’t think things through with Cris because, in this business, if a song isn’t a hit within the first two minutes, it’s a bust. Yameli argues that he shouldn’t put down Cris’s song…they need to give it some time. In the meantime, Yameli will investigate to see who “Pez Koi” is. After Yameli leaves, Charly calls Axel and tells him to follow Yameli.
Vanesa is in Diana’s office as she texts with Ruco who wants to see her. After she gives Diana some excuse to go out, she walks through the lobby when Cris sees her and tries to make nice with her, but Vanesa has him pegged since he now knows that she is Charly’s daughter. After she brushes him off, Vanesa sees Charly and lies that she wants to go see a school friend about getting some notes. Charly is happy that Vanesa is returning to school so he allows her to go (sucker!).
Diana calls Alberto who is tending to his scars, but he doesn’t answer so she leaves him a message that she will be going to meet with him in his office. Charly then enters and Diana tells him that she has been feeling left out since Charly wants Yameli as his manager…so she is resigning. When Charly wonders what she expects him to say, Diana tells him not to say anything because it’s been several years since she gave up hoping to hear what she wanted to hear from him. When he asks what she is going to do, Diana replies that she will be going to look for new horizons…she has some options. After she assures him that her decision is final, Charly thanks her and wishes her well; he hopes that she will let him know where she will be or if she needs anything. (Geez, she was only resigning from her position, but it seems that Charly is saying a final good-bye!)
Alberto greets Zaria who is ready to interview him. He tells her that he is sure that Charly sent his goons to beat him up and he doesn’t want that feline to think that he can do whatever he wants and get away with it. Alberto is ready for the interview.
Axel follows Yameli and sees that she goes to see Juanjo at his studio. He quickly calls Charly who, in turn, calls Yameli and tells her that he needs to see her right away. Afterwards, Yameli laughs as she tells Juanjo that Charly is furious…and they are ready for the next step.
Ep 27: Part 2 Good Hits, Bad Hits…All Kinds of Hits!
At Luxor, Cris is complaining to Charly that he doesn’t have a video for his song when Yameli walks in. Charly quickly asks her what she was doing with Juanjo, but Yameli makes it clear that she doesn’t want any lip from him. After he reminds her that he wanted her to find out who Pez Koi is, Yameli snaps back that is exactly what she was doing…and what she found out was that Juanjo produced Pez Koi’s song. When Charly asks if she is sure, Yameli tells him that Juanjo is there waiting to talk to him about it. Charly charges out calling Juanjo a traitor, but Juanjo is ready for the fight and tells Charly that he is no traitor…he is there to face him. Juanjo explains that he was working with Pez Koi before he started working for Charly…and anyway he doesn’t work exclusively for Charly. Charly points out that they have a contract and that he was trying to help Juanjo, Juanjo retorts that he hired him because he needed a producer…because Charly is no producer. Chary thinks Juanjo is envious of him because of his success and he was able to get out of the barrio. Juanjo chides him for thinking he is a success…if Charly is a success, it’s only because he stole Yameli’s songs. When he adds that Charly has never had a hit of his own, Charly “hits” him hard, and Juanjo returns with his own hit. Juanjo is then led out as Yameli takes Charly to his office.
El Buho continues to announce the success of Pez Koi’s song which is in the Top 5 at the radio station. Meanwhile, Serg and Erick are overjoyed and hug. And Vanesa is in the park with Ruco listening to and raving about Pez Koi’s song. She confides that it’s her uncle who is singing (uh-oh!)
Yameli is tending to Charly’s bruise as Charly rants about Juanjo being a traitor and a rat; he is not going to let Juanjo get away with it. After Charly remarks that he wants Juanjo’s studio to fail, Yameli reminds him that his studio is much better than Juanjo’s cheap studio. She advises him that the best way to get back at Juanjo is to make sure that Cris’s song is a bigger hit….so he needs to concentrate on the concert.
Wendy sees Juanjo’s bruised face and asks what happened, When Juanjo replies that he only told Charly what needed to be said since a long time ago, Wendy chides him for continuing to get into problems because of something that happened years ago…with Yameli.
Cris has an interview where he answers question while being guided by Yameli. He tells the reporter that he is proud to be working with Charly who selected him to be the opening act in his concert. Later, Yameli calls Zaria who tells her that she has the interview which she will be uploading…she thinks it will be quite the BOMB!
Diana goes to Cameo and sees Alberto’s severe lacerations. When she asks what happened to him, Alberto tells her that Charly sent his felines to do his dirty work. Alberto then tells her that he won’t use her as a model because he is afraid that Charly will have him killed if he finds out she will be modeling for him…and even worse, if he finds out about their relationship. Alberto calls it quits with Diana…just like that…which sends Diana off in tears since she just quit her job with Charly to work with him. Diana calls Charly and tells him he is a monster…everything he touches, he destroys; she hates him and he will never see her again.
Ep 27: Part 3 Good Hits, Bad Hits…All Kinds of Hits!
Yameli meets with Ben who tells her that Chente hasn’t gone to see Monchis, but he is confident that he will soon have to make contact. Meanwhile, Agent Perez is following Chente who is harassing business people in the barrio and collecting their “fees.”
Erick goes to see Juanjo and notices his bruised face. When Juanjo admits that it was Charly, Erick guesses that Charly knows that he recorded his song, but Juanjo assures Erick that Charly doesn’t know who Pez Koi is. Juanjo then asks Erick why he doesn’t want anyone to know who he is; so Erick confides that he doesn’t want people thinking that he is like his a adoptive father. Juanjo is surprised to hear that Erick is adopted and wonders if Erick knows anything about his bio parents, so Erick shares that he did look into it and found out that his mother died…and he doesn’t want to know anything more. Juanjo assures that Erick’s career won’t be affected, but will wait until Erick is ready to announce that he is Pez Koi.
Charly goes home to find Diana packing his things—he needs to leave HER house! When Charly refuses to leave and threatens to call the police, Diana wonders why he doesn’t call his uncle and have her beat up just like he had Alberto beat up. When Charly denies having to anything to do with Alberto’s beating, Diana calls him a liar…and he is so wrapped up in his own world that he doesn’t even know what is happening around him. Diana admits that she not only has an interest in working with Alberto, she had an affair with him because Charly isn’t the only one who can have someone else. She turns the knife just a bit more when she tells Charly that Alberto made her feel what Charly hasn’t made her feel in years. (I would say that Diana got in the best hit!) They have a screaming match as they tell each other to get out…until Vanesa comes in and tells them to stop yelling. Charly finally storms out as Diana cries and repeatedly states that she hates him.
Well, they did their best to slice and dice three episodes into two hours but I was left wondering about things here and there and added a few years to try to put a better order/sense to the events.
Livia and Silvia both show up at the accident site and identify the body of Viridiana. Silvia rides with the corpse to the hospital. Gus is there to cry over his daughter. Viridiana was killed almost instantaneously in the crush. Gus sees that the funeral is held the same day. “La historia de un amor” plays plaintively. Soon, Viridiana’s ashes are in a family crypt. Silvia tries to find comfort in Viridiana’s room and her memories. Silvia and Liviana were appearing in the same telenovela. Silvia does them all the favor of writing her daughter’s exit for the novela and acting her way through her daughter’s character’s exit. She tells Emilio she needs to keep on working because of her family and that she doesn’t have the luxury of closing herself up in her room and killing herself. Silvia tells the viewer that “the death of Liviana was like a watch that had stopped suddenly and even though you wound it and forced it to run again, it never worked the same way as it had.”
It is the day of Silvia’s marriage to Julio. It is 1982. Everyone is waiting of the bride to make her entrance but Silvia is still too depressed to want to get married or really do anything. Sonia finally talks her into going through with it. Julio offers her a out, but she goes ahead and marries him.
Silvia’s guitar playing singing daughter Alondra is 15 and wants to go be a backup singer for some pop star called “Jenny”. Silvia holds the line with her rebellious daughter and tells her that is not happening and that she needs to continue school. Alondra is also into wild parties and smoking weed which doesn’t go over well with Silvia either.
An official car shows up one day for Silvia. She soon finds out that Julio has had some sort of accident with a head injury and has to be in a medically induced coma to counteract the swelling of his brain. When he comes out of the coma, he needs time to recover physically as well as to regain his speaking ability. Silvia tries to help him with a speech but he decides to go it alone. In time, he is able to master his “return” speech and delivers it flawlessly to an applauding crowd.
Livia ends up hooking up with Fernando. Silvia sees totem together at a concert. At the same concert, Fernando tells Silvia that he never has forgotten her. Silvia is not happy with either of them.
At work, Silvia and Emilio talk about a new program for Televisa that would chronicle the experiences in the lives of real women. As the governor’s wife she has heard many inspirational stories. They agree it would e a socially responsible thing to do and feel it wild help women. The only problem is money because it is 1985 and the earthquake had just hit. They are suffering a crisis. Silvia tells him to trust her, she won’t disappoint him or the audience. She is 100% behind Televisa. (The show would be named “Mujer, casos de la vida real” and run for 22 years).
It is 1987. In the meantime, evidently Livia had married Fernando and they had a daughter who she named after her deceased sister Viridiana. We catch up with the story at Viridiana’s funeral. She has died, too. Later, Livia makes contact with her mother and gets into it with Silvia, saying that she cannot be like her; she is merely flesh and blood. She sees their relationship as nothing. Livia’s older daughter tells Silvia about how bad things are at their house. Livia drinks all the time and Fernando is a monster who brings other women into the house. Her mother has no job so she is dependent on him. Silvia makes sure that Livia is employed again in the theater but Livia doesn’t even invite her to the play’s premiere.
It is now 1988 and Silvia and the family decide to spend New Year’s in Acapulco. The family has arranged for Livia to be there, also, to talk with Silvia. Livia is now divorced. She and Livia are reconciled.
Silvia tells us what a great year 1988 was for her because she got to fulfill a dream. She opened her own theater. It seated 1200 people and had the latest technology of the time.
She tries to get her daughter Alondra involved but Alondra is still only interested in her music. She wants to move out to her own apartment alone and away from all of these people.. She is 20 and thinks it is time for her to make her own way. She is going to be a singer. One day, Alondra comes by with her first single as a gift for Silvia to listen to. Alondra ks so proud of herself. Silvia listens to it and finds the lyrics to be very critical of her. They feel like a knife in her heart. It turns out that Alondra wrote the lyrics. Alondra doesn’t see why she is so upset. It is just a song; a catharsis.
It is time for “Siempre en Domingo”. Alondra is there with Felipe her partner to perform her song. . Silvia is there to to dedicate a song to the,. She tells them not to worry because she would never do to Alondra what she is going to do to her.
More family news.It is Livia’s elder daughter who is pregnant. Nobody is going to find out the father. She doesn’t want to pressure him but wants the baby for herself. Silvia welcomes her to the Pinal matriarchy. It is nine months later and the baby is born.
There is a vintage commercial with Silvia talking about the influence of fifty years of TV.
Alondra has news. She is pregnant. She is scared. Her relationship with Carlos isn’t going well and she is at a transition point in her musical career. They both pray to the Virgin of Guadalupe for help.
Julio decides to move down the hall to Livia’s old room just two steps down the hall to have more quiet when Silvia comes in late. Yes, she is always welcome when she comes in early. Silvia doesn’t like the arrangement.
Alondra has her baby.
It is 1995 and Silvia sees that Julio has his luggage all packed. She asks where he is going. He is moving to his apartment downtown because it just doesn’t make sense for him to live there anymore. He spends all day in traffic and his apartment is practically next door to his office.Silvia asks when she will see him. He says to invite him for Sunday dinner and he will be right over. He will always be there for her. He asks where his lawyer should send the divorce papers: to the house or to the theater. She answers that he can send them to the house and thanks him for being her husband. He kisses her hand and thanks her.
Emilio tells Silvia he is going to the USA but doesn’t know when he is coming back. He ends up passing away in 1997.
Silvia’s mother dies next.
It is 1999. Sonia is going through the mail and tells Silvia she is receiving an “Amigo” award from Brownsville,Texas. Silvia is all excited saying the day she isn’t excited she will be dead. Sonia also finds an official letter accusing Silvia of a 9,5 million peso fraud filed by the National Association of Theater Producers. Silvia soon finds out there is also a warrant out for her arrest. Silvia gets her “Amigo” award and then Alondra is instrumental in getting her smuggled out of Mexico. Alondra has her stay in her apartment in Miami and gives her a blank check.Silvia tells the viewer that she felt isolated for the year she had to spend there until her name was cleared. She is able to continue working on “Mujer . . . “ courtesy of Televisa but she lost her theater in Mexico.
When Silvia is cleared of all charges and is finally able to return to Mexico, she is met by crowds of well wishers. She is happy to return to her home and country.
Alondra’s daughter is just as headstrong as Alondra was.
Silvia tells all of her daughters and granddaughters how women were held back decades ago and that although things have improved for women with time, women still have a long way to go.
Silvia addresses the viewer and thanks everyone and hopes to see everyone soon when she is appearing in some other good and important production.
FIN
Recapping this was so much fun since it was completely something different and was so well done. I learned so much not just about Silvia but also about Mexico. The film footage and music from all of those decades was a real treat. It also had a total of only 21 episodes which was a real draw. Since it was only 21 episodes, the fact that they decided to cut episodes made it hard to understand in some parts but all in all it was very enjoyable and easy to watch and recap.
I loved the scene with Silvia being stuffed in the trunk to get out of Mexico City.
It was sad seeing how her marriage to Julio just sort of quietly died.
Anyway, I will have more to say mañana and am looking forward to what you all have to say about the final episode.
I apologize ahead of time for my typos. : )
Jarifa: I enjoyed watching the Gran Final.
Julio & Silvia's marriage quietly dying like that was indeed sad.
I wasn't surprised about Alondra rebelling.
Plus Fernando is still a jerk & drug addict.
Thank you, Rgv Chick. Good title.
"Geez, she was only resigning from her position" - right. It sounded like they were not going to see each other again. By the end of the episode, the relationship of Charly and Diana seemed beyond repair.
At one moment Charly says to Yamelí "¿Te das cuenta? Has estado en cada una de mis broncas desde que llegué a la ciudad." "Do you realize? You have been in every one of my problems since I came to the city." It was amusing to see Yamelí's face. To herself, she was probably saying "Duh!" But she quickly directed the conversation to the upcoming concert.
Jarifa, I appreciated your recaps of Sylvia and would have been lost without them. I checked out her biography online. What a life. She also had affairs with Omar Shariff and Conrad Hilton. The price of a long life is losing many people you love, and Sylvia certainly lost many people. Still, you an tell that she keeps acting and keeps going as she did her whole life despite deaths, divorces, disappointments.
Thank you, Lucio and Susanlynn.
Lucio, thanks for bring up that bit of conversation. I thought Charly might be putting two and two together, but nopis. It seemed he was actually thanking Yameli for being there for him during the problems; after all he did tell Diana that Yameli was doing a better job that she was. What a doofus...if he only knew!
Susanlynn, I have been pleasantly surprised with this TN. I thought I wasn't going to like it because of all the "young folk" but I am really enjoying the storyline...and the music and dancing are an added treat for me. I never thought I would like reggaeton so much...or maybe I just didn't realize exactly what kind of music it was.
SILVIA
Jarifa, thank you so much fo recapping the entire series. I really appreciated the last few episodes. I did record the gran final, but now I just need to find the time to watch it...but at least you gave us a superb synopsis of it.
Thanks again!
Susanlynn, ITA . Silvia Pinal has had quite a life and is still going. I hope I am still going at her age. She is a great example of somebody who has overcome adversity by her sheer force of will through a messy life with great adversity some of which was self-inflicted; but life IS messy. I admire her and her accomplishments. Thanks, Susanlynn. This has been such great patio. I am happy you decided to join us!
Thanks, Jarifa. I'm so glad you decided to cover this TN. I enjoyed all the history. I admire Silvia for her ability to keep on going and finding some joy despite the pain. Such a shame they cut an already brief series. I got the feeling that Emilio was sick and going to the USA for treatment when he told Silvia he didn't know when he'd see her again. Silvia was ahead of her time in so many ways.
Diana, I miss your voice. Hope you're having a good trip.
Ep 28: Part 1 Celebrations…Some Good, Some a Bust
Diana tries to talk to Vanesa about her problems with Charly, but Vanesa has put up a fortress around her; she has nothing to talk to Diana about. When Diana insists, Vanessa knows perfectly well how things are between Diana and Charly; she also knows that Alberto is her lover. Vanesa tries to explain how things have not been well for a long time; and Charly has hurt her very much. Diana has dedicated all her life to Charly and Diana, but now it’s time that she needs to take care of herself and love herself. After she adds that she shouldn’t have to stay with a man who doesn’t respect her, or love her or is faithful to her, Vanessa walks off because she doesn’t want to look at Diana.
Axel is driving Charly somewhere as Charly calls Yameli and leaves a message that he and Diana are over. Their time to be together has come; so he wants her to call him.
Vanesa goes to Rodrigo’s house to cry on his shoulder and “relax.”
At DEA Central, Ben is watching the tracking system on Chente. He calls his agents and tells them to close in. Chente, who is with a group of his cronies, catches sight of the agents and starts shooting. A chase ensues and Chente is caught.
At Juanjo’s studio, Erick sees the picture of Juanjo, Charly and Yameli; so Juanjo tells Erick about Soul and Bass…and how the young girl was the most talented one of them all. Erick asks for the girl’s name, but as Juanjo is about to tell him, Yameli arrives and congratulates Erick for the success of his song. They go have a pre-celebration at Juanjo’s bar where Juanjo gives Yameli a box of his music collection (old cassettes and CDs). Just then, Wendy calls; so Juanjo has to leave, but tells Erick that the real celebration will be there that night. After he leaves, Erick confides to Yameli that he feels butterflies in his stomach just thinking that everyone is listening to his song. When he asks Yameli why he believes in him so much, Yameli replies that she believes in his talent which she knew he had since the first time she saw him sing...when he sings, he dominates the stage. Erick is actually helping Yamel fulfill some of her own dreams through him.
Juanjo goes home and invites Wendy, Marcos and Pati to the celebration. Meanwhile, Yameli is reading one of Juanjo’s letters where he tells her that he adores her, but if she doesn’t feel the same way, it’s okay because he will always be her friend.
Ep 28: Part 2 Celebrations…Some Good, Some a Bust
Rodrigo and Vanesa are relaxing when Vanessa gets a text from Erick inviting her to his celebration. She doesn’t feel like going, but Rodrigo talks her into it. After Diana leaves a message for Vanesa, she looks through a photo album as she recalls happier times with Charly….when they were first starting out.
At night, Charly is having his own party but is being his own party pooper. He complains to Axel about all he did for Diana and now she is throwing him out of his house. He is also upset because Yameli hasn’t returned his calls and he is used to women doing what he wants when he wants it. Meanwhile, Yameli calls Zaria and tells her to upload her video.
Erick’s celebration at Juanjo’s bar starts. When Lari arrives, Juanjo knows exactly what kind of drink Yameli wants…and Wendy takes note.
Monchis is telling one of his men that he has no money to pay him when Toño approaches. Monchis is worried because Charly hasn’t given him the money he owes him; and he is also afraid that the Cubans are going to drop him as an associate. Toño then tells him that they have another problem…Chente has been caught.
Ben tries to make a deal with Chente who has a long list of charges for assault, extortion, murder…and a video of the beating they gave to Alberto, but Chente laughs it off and won’t sing…because “the clown” takes those who squeal.
Juanjo introduces Pez Koi and his mother. Lidia recognizes Lari and brings up Charly…she wonders if Charly knows about this. After Erick reminds her that he had already talked to her about not wanting Charly to know, Lidia promises not to say a word.
Ben hands a written deal to Chente, but Chente knocks it out of his hands. Ben warns Chente not to be an idiot; Monchis will fall and if Chente cooperates, things will go better for him. Chente still refuses to talk.
Rodrigo and Vanessa arrive at the celebration. Everyone notices that she is waaay too happy and talkative. When Vanessa gets a drink, Lidia reminds her that she was taking meds, but Vanessa clarifies that she no longer takes meds. Vanessa wants to drink to Lidia’s health and other things…like her parents separating since they are always fighting and yelling at each other…and she is always caught in the middle. When Vanessa wants to toast, Lidia takes her glass, but Rodrigo will get her another one. Everyone looks at Vanessa as she walks off laughing. Yameli then calls Zaria and tells her to increase the number of her followers before she uploads Alberto’s interview.
Charly is at his own party getting drunk. When he hears Pez Koi’s song he throws his glass at the stereo and tells them that they are not to play that crap. He then tries to sing Cris’s song, but notices that everyone is getting alerts on their phones. When he grabs Axel’s phone, he sees Alberto’s interview. Alberto states that Charly had him beat up simply because he legally hired Charly’s daughter for a photo shoot. When Alberto remarks that Charly wants to give the impression that he is a spiritual man and a family man, but that in reality he is a man of violence just like his Uncle Monchis, the criminal. Charly is muy impactado and throws Axel’s phone. He then runs everyone off and tells them they are not wanted there. As he argues with Axel and hits him on the head with a glass, someone in videotaping him.
Ep 28: Part 3 Celebrations…Some Good, Some a Bust
At Erick’s party, Serg urges Erick to say a few words; so Erick starts his speech by thanking Juanjo and Lari. Then he thanks Lidia and apologizes for looking for something that was always in front of him…and for making her feel she was alone…because she wasn’t. As they hug, Yameli’s eyes tear up and she walks out. Juanjo follows her as she cries because Erick’s speech made her think of her son whom she thinks of everyday. She wonders how things would have turned out if she would have been able to help him succeed in life…she can’t stop thinking about him. When Juanjo assures her that she would have been a good mother, Juanjo hugs her only to be interrupted by Wendy who asks if everything is okay. Yameli quickly explains that she was touched by Erick’s speech. When she tells them that she needs to go see about the media, Wendy questions Juanjo since he is the one who supposedly is managing Erick; so Juanjo explains that Yameli has more contacts with the media.
Vanesa goes to the bar and asks for another drink. Serg approaches and tries to make her feel better about her parents since he went through the same thing. He gives her his number in case she wants to talk to him, but Rodrigo then interrupts and gives Vanesa a bug juicy kiss.
Erick’s song starts playing so Lidia tells Erick to dance with Yameli. As they dance, Juanjo watches and smiles., but gets a frown when he turns to Wendy. Meanwhile, Charly is drunk as a skunk and throws things around.
Thank you, Rgv Chick.
"Erick asks for the girl’s name, but as Juanjo is about to tell him, Yameli arrives" - near miss. Can't have a TN without it.
Charly was awful with Axel. How long is he going to put up with it.
Wow, Vanessa is on the road to ruin . She has been propelled into the arms of someone who is just going to make her life much, much worse. Alas, this scenario plays out so often in real life. However, in the end, I think that Serg will come to her rescue as he has been Erick's help and support .
Monstro is out of cash which cannot be a good thing. I wonder how long it will be until he locates Lidia and Eric.I guess he doesn't know that Charly is broke and broken.
Watching Yami and Eric together pulls at my heartstrings. I don't have sons , but I have many pseudo sons. Their reunion will be sweet.
Wendy senses the connection between Juanjo and Yami. She just won't let herself admit it. Que lastima.
How much abuse is Axel willing to take from Charly. That bottle to his head should make him run the other way, but he seems to like the fame and fortune that he has experienced in his relationship with Char!y.
Judyb..so sorry that you have been under the weather. I hope that you feel better soon. Our weather has been gray and gloomy and rainy all week and it continues today and tomorrow with more gray skies and thunderstorms. Very depressing .
Thank you everyone for your comments!
Judyb, so sorry to hear that you are under the weather. Hope you have brighter days and that your cough subsides.
Lucio, that near miss would have been too good to be true if it hadn't been a miss. So how much longer before Erick asks for the the name again? Eons from now?
Axel must be desperate to stay with Charly...or maybe Chalry has something on him? I just can't see Axel taking so much form Chalry. They didn't seen to he the best of friends when they were younger; so why all the loyalty? Inquiring minds want to know!
Susanlynn, I don't like where Vanessa is going; she's bound to be one to hit bottom before she picks herself up. I too want Serg to come to her rescue.
"Watching Yami and Eric together pulls at my heartstrings. " Yes, my heartstrings are being pulled too, but, for some reason, I don;t see that strong maternal instinct in Yameli yet.Erick has more of that call of the blood in him than Yamli (IMO).
Ep 29: Part 1 Disclosures
Juanjo and Yameli are watching Zaria’s interview. When Juanjo asks what is next, Yameli replies that they need to sabotage the concert. They are interrupted by Wendy who puts her arm around Juanjo (her territory) and asks Yameli if she will be attending their wedding. Yameli doesn’t think so because she has plans to leave the country, though she isn’t sure about the dates.
Erick tries to get Vanesa to stop drinking. When he asks her if she is okay, Vanesa replies that she is fine…and very happy. Erick tries to get her to admit her true feelings, but Vanesa insists that she is happy. Rodrigo approaches and, after he gives Vanesa a kiss, Erick asks him to give him some time to talk to Vanesa. Serg approaches to back up Erick, but Rodrigo takes offense so Vanesa leads him away.
Lidia apologizes to Yameli for thinking badly about her and then thanks her for supporting Erick. Yameli explains that she had tried to get Erick to record his song at Luxor, but he refused to do so. Lidia understands because she knows Erick wants to do things on his own. When Lidia asks Yameli to look out for Erick because fame and success can get Erick out of control; Yameli assures her that Erick is not only talented, his is a good guy and has a big heart. She compliments Lidia on raising Erick so well. Yameli then tells Lidia that Charly must not find out that she is behind Erick’s success…she will tell him in time, but not right now.
Charly is so drunk that he can’t pick himself up; so he drags himself to a lounger and passes out. Meanwhile Diana is looking in on Vanesa who is fast asleep in her bed.
Erick cuts his own hair and shaves the sides (wanting to emulate Juanjo ??).
Wendy sneaks into the bedroom while Juanjo sleeps and takes his phone. She looks at his messages and sees the video of Charly’s interview.
Next Morning—
Juanjo gets up early because he has many things to do; Erick will be giving an interview.
Diana wakes Vanesa so that she can go to school, but Vanesa has a big headache. Diana wonders if Vanesa is into drugs again, but Vanesa insists that she only has a headache because Diana spends all her time fighting with Charly.
Juanjo goes to Yameli’s apartment. He feels bad about what they are doing to Charly since he has a family. Yameli also thinks about Charly’s family and hopes that Charly’s separation is a done deal. When Juanjo asks about the concert. Yameli is happy to report that the sponsors are pulling out and not one ticket has sold. Juanjo worries about Yameli and as he tells her that if anything happens to her he will die, he holds her hand and they have a “moment” as they look at each other. Yameli is about to ask him something when Wendy calls to invite Juanjo for brunch; so Yameli doesn’t ask her question…it wasn’t anything important. The look she gives him as he leaves, says otherwise.
Ep 29: Part 2 Disclosures
Erick shows Lidia his new haircut. Lidia thinks he looks like a star. As they have breakfast they discuss Charly, who Lidia is worried about, and Diana who called Lidia the night before to ask for Vanesa. Lidia told Diana about Vanesa drinking but didn’t mention the “novio.” Erick then tells Lidia that he is going to be giving an interview…to announce who he really is—Charly’s brother and son of Monchis. Lidia worries that both Charly and Monchis are going to hit the roof. She asks Erick to at least talk to Charly before the interview. Erick tries to call Charry but gets his voicemail.
Charly wakes to the knocking of the manager who tells him that the other tenants are complaining because his guests broke some potted plants. Charly will pay for everything and bribes the manager to say that Charly had nothing to do with it.
Charly calls Yameli and demands to know why she wouldn’t answer his calls. Yameli lies and tells him tha she left her phone in her car. When she asks about Diana, Charly is very happy to tell her that he is free and never wants to see Diana again. They make plans to meet at the office.
Ben is still trying to talk Chente into to turning on Monchis; he even offers to put Chente in the witness protection program. Chente finally turns and tells Ben exactly where Monchis is.
Juanjo is trying to stall the reporters as Erick tries to call Charly without success. Erick finally shows himself to the reporters and introduces himself as Charly Flow’s brother. Zaria is there questioning if Erick has a problem with Charly, so Erick explains that he wanted to do this on his own. He then announces that he is Monchis’ adopted son. He isn’t ashamed of who he is and will never deny who his family is. When he is asked why he avoided using his name to begin with, Erick replies that things just happened that way. He wanted to see how things went and when he saw that it was worth it, he decided to reveal who he was…he has nothing to hide because he has nothing to do with Monchis whom he has cut all ties from since he doesn’t agree with how Monchis makes his money. Zaria then starts asking questions and making comments about Charly, but Juanjo redirects her since they are there to talk about music and Pez Koi. Erick explains that he wanted to do this on his own without telling his family since he believes that a name doesn’t determine who he is. He then thanks Juanjo for helping him realize his dream.
Ben and his agents slowly enter the building where Chente tod them Monchis is hiding out, but the building is empty. Meanwhile Monchis is talking to Charly asking for his money. When he hangs up Toño comes in and tells Monchis that Chente squealed; so Monchis wants to do away with that rat.
Ep 29: Part 3 Disclosures
Juanjo calls Yameli to give her an update on Erick’s interview…Erick was awesome and has everything to make it big. As they talk, Yameli hears Charly arguing so she hangs up. She listens at the door as Charly berates Axel and Axel takes is as he usually does. Charly then gives Axel two things to do: 1) to pay the radio stations to play Cris’s song, but not to play Pez Koi’s songs; and 2) to go to the bank and take out all the money from his account….Axel is to put the money into 2 cases and bring it to Charly. As Axel leaves, Yameli quickly pretends to talk to an employee. Charly then comes out and tells her that this is not a good time to talk since Vanesa is coming to see him. When Vanesa arrives, Yameli pretends not to have seen her in quite some time and Vanesa follows her lead.
Ben goes the DEA Central and tells Chente that the info he gave was wrong so the deal is off. Chente demands that Ben keep his word and asks what more Ben wants from him. Ben replies that he wants all the info Chente has on Monchis’s properties and hideouts.
Yameli tells Juanjo about the money Charly is taking out of the bank. Juanjo thinks it has something to do with Monchis and Yameli agrees, but they also think that Charly may be wanting to leave Diana out on the streets. Yameli plans to go talk to Diana to see what info she can get.
At Luxor, Vanesa asks Charly if he is moving out. Charly thinks it is best, but Vanesa doesn’t want to live with her mother; she prefers to live with Charly. Charly assures her that he will do his best so that she gets along with her mother but comes to live with him… though she needs to wait until he finds a place and gets settled in.
Chente gives his list to Ben; he doesn’t know addresses, but he included direction to the sites. Chente worries that Monchis is going to come after him; so Ben assures him that they will put him in a cell with a guard.
Yameli goes to see Diana who confides that she and Charly had a big fight and he didn’t come home. She is tired of living the way they do…it’s all lie. What hurts her most is that her daughter is the one who is suffering the consequences . Diana then shares that she told Charly about her affair with Alberto. When Yameli suggests that Diana give Alberto a chance, Diana replies that Alberto wants nothing to do with her…she doesn’t know why she thought that another man would love her. While Diana goes to get coffee, Yameli sends an anonymous message to Diana warning her to take out the money from the bank before Charly takes it from her.
Ben calls Yameli and tells her about the info Chente has given them. He wants Yameli to take a look at it; and if the info is correct, they are very close to capturing Monchis.
Thank you, Rgv Chick.
Liked the side comments.
"They are interrupted by Wendy who puts her arm around Juanjo (her territory)"
"Erick cuts his own hair and shaves the sides (wanting to emulate Juanjo ??)."
Surprising that Chente talked. He may be gone soon, but he already gave some useful information to Ben. The circle is closing on Monchis.
Who will get to the money first, Diana or Axel? The race is on!
I think Yamelí asked Juanjo to send the anonymous text to Diana, she didn't send it herself. The caller ID said "Nº Desconocido" and then Yamelí got a text on her phone from "Nº Desconocido" saying "Hecho." And before leaving to meet Diana she asked Juanjo to get a SIM card.
I usually multitask while watching , and I missed Erick cutting his hair. When I saw him at the press conference, it took me a second to realize who it was. I like the hair cut . You really notice his blue eyes now. The actor looks so much better than he did as young Charly with that mop of hair. Was it a wig?
Juanjo is wearing his heart on his sleeve. He is such a sweet character unlike the guy he played in "Sylvia."
P.s. Where's Jack?
It certainly looks as though Juanjo and yami are being drawn together and that Yam is looking at her old friend with new eyes....The eyes of love.
Thank you, Lucio and Susanlynn.
Lucio, I was just as surprised that Chente talked; yep, he's pretty much a goner and he knows it. It doesn't matter how much protection he has, Monchis will find a way to get to him. What is odd to me is that Monchis hasn't been able to find Lidia and Erick (not that I want him to); it's not like they're hiding out.
I'm thinking Diana will get to the money first...it just depends which directive Axel does first. If he goes to the bank first, then Charly will get the money. And you're right. It wasn't Yameli who sent the anonymous message to directly to Diana. Timing seems to be so perfect in this TN. Juanjo got the SIM card quite quickly, and if Diana gets to the money first, then Yameli sure did get to her fast.
Susanlynn, "Juanjo is wearing his heart on his sleeve.: So true. Unfortunately, Wendy seems to be keeping an eagle eye on that heart; she's like a mother hen watching out for her chicks...ready to strike at anything or anyone who gets close.
