Just in passing, I watched tonight's episode. The novela is iteresting, but I do find it confusing at times. There are so many dark-haired men to keep track of! The television guys in Carmelo's past really confuse me.

So, surely the writers are going to let him escape. The prison stuff is just too grim.

I found this episode quite confusing. Part of what makes it so confusing, at least for me, are the many quick jumps back and forth between the past (in this episode, 14 years earlier, and the present. Here's some of what I think happened:

Fourteen years ago, Carmelo was apparently working for a TV company. The boss (Lazcano?) didn't want to upset the powers that be--Pedro Islas and his men, and also the Mexican President Felguerez. So Lazcano doesn't want anyone on Rita Franco's talk show to say anything controversial. But Carmelo is one of the people on the talk show, and Carmelo wants to tell it like it is. At one point, Carmelo sits with the others on the talk show but refuses to speak. He sits there mute as a protest against the demand that the show not present anything controversial.

Pedro Islas and his guys are unhappy with President Felguerez. They want to send him a message that they control things. So they arrange for a grenade to be set off at the school that the President's children attend. In the process, two children and a teacher are killed. On Rita Franco's show, Carmelo says that he grew up in a dangerous area, but no one killed children or set off grenades in schools. The country is sick, and what's sickest is that we all watch and do nothing. He then walks off the set. But many people have seen him say all this on TV, and he gets lots of very positive responses for what he said and for his courage in saying it.

Carmelo's co-worker (I think), Plinio, has been summoned by the boss and has been told to bring Carmelo as well. Plinio is afraid that they're both going to be fired. Instead, the boss sees the show's ratings and has decided that perhaps he should give Carmelo his own show (I think). They'll do a pilot.

All that was happening 14 years ago. In the present, Carmelo decides his escape is now or never. Toño is with him. Amador (the good guard) comes to help him (I think), but Carmelo knocks him out, perhaps to prevent his being suspected of helping the escape. Carmelo then lowers himself into what he hopes will be the tunnel that will lead him outside the prison. Toño seems a bit uncertain whether to follow him, but he too finally goes down into the tunnel. The alarm sounds--the escape has been detected, but Carmelo and Toño keep going. He has taken Amador's phone and calls someone (I'm not sure who) to let him know they're escaping.

As Carmelo is trying to escape, Ramses arrives at the prison. He's greeted enthusiastically by his men, and he's led to a cell that is more like a hotel room, complete with an upholstered chair, an altar to the Virgin, and other amenities.

Also, Sara proceeds with her plan to trap Carlos. Carolina pleads with her not to do this, but Sara is adamant. She insists that she wants to help her father. She promises Carolina that she'll tell her everything she does. She then leaves to meet Carlos. She sits at what looks like a cafe waiting for him. He calls and says he's running late, and asks her to come to where he is. She's reluctant to do this. He sends her a link with the location. Apparently the security guy is monitoring all this. She tells Carlos she'd rather meet with him the next day. She leaves.

We then see two young guys on motorcycles. I have no idea who they are, where they are, or what they're doing.

Amador apparently leaves the bed where he was recuperating from being knocked out. He goes to the shower where the tunnel starts. Another guard arrives, then some others. Someone says they should get Vega. Carmelo and Toño continue to move forward in the tunnel, but things aren't looking all that good. So of course that's where the episode ends.

yep, Tono is not up for an escape, could these guys go any slower, at least the guards are waiting for Vega rather than following.

Carmelo calls Claudio (the guy who sent him the Rome book with the location of the tunnel) so Claudio and Plinio (are they living together) on their bikes head to the tunnels exit.

the prez has stalled the gas line which upsets Pedro and the boys who decide to kill his kids, not sure what the plan was but it got muffed, but hey the bad guys are ok with it because it shows them what Hugo is capable of.

Carmelo speaks out on the show, going against Dagoberto's strict policy, but hey the bad guys like that too because he is dinking the prez and tell Dago not to fire him.

so Sara is tied in with the spy guy, and watermelon Joe is upset Sara canceled the meet, don't you love me, and drives off in a huff with spy guy on his tail.

Thanks so much for the recap, Juanita. I'm happy to see I was not the only one confused. I've seen that Lazcano guy before. He definitely has the perfect villain face, even though he's not as bad as Islas.

I'm pretty confdent Carmelo is getting out. I loved Islas' reaction hearing the news. Such corruption! Islas knows immediately and insists the press can't know about it. And that luxurious prison cell remids me of the one they had Pablo Escobar in.

I'm kind of with Caro about Sara spending time with Watermelon Guy. He's BSC and, of course, doubt the CIA would have such a loose cannon working for them

Does anyone know where I might find LRDS on the web so I can have the pleasure of watching? Any help would be appreciated.

I'm a little surprised to learn that the guys on the motos were Claudio and Plinio. If this were another flashback to 14 years ago, I could easily believe that's who they are, but since it's in the present, the guys on motos look too young. Oh well, I'm getting to the point where everyone looks young. :-)

And yes, I think Pia was supposed to interview Carmelo. Thanks too for reminding me about Chinta's reveal.

novelera, Yes, Ramses' cell certainly had its real-life precedents. The one I thought of, however, was Patty O'Farrell's in Reina 1. Though it wasn't as special as Ramses' or Escobar's.

I'm assuming that your "doubt the CIA would have such a loose cannon working for them" was tongue in cheek.

YouTube has apparently taken down some sites, but there's one I just found that will show you episode 1 of Season 2, with English captions. Whether that will lead to more episodes, I don't know. Do they want to confuse us on purpose?
Juanita, I'm getting too much time travel. We’ve been 22 years, 14 years, 3 years, 1 year and back again and again. Some actors are different in the past and present some not. Claudio hasn’t changed at all in 22 years except for some grey in his hair. Thankfully, the older actors just get darker hair for the backward time jumps.

Wedding Day 14 years ago: Anyone notice the sick look on Caro’s face when Carmelo told the group that he promised he’d become president someday? And Carmelo downed a whole glass of wine when Chinta came out to him.

The great escape is laughable. The prison guards are necessarily incompetent. I don’t know, deb, can Carmelo and Toño go any slower? If it is successful it’s only due to the telenovela magic that made the lights stay on, novelera. And Carmelo decided to leave without Voyo.

Sara is a Junior Eagle. I missed it if mom hooked her up.

Paraiso

Since I’ve watched the previous shows in the series, I will start watching El Final del Paraiso. Even though the story went downhill in season 2 and went totally off the rails in season 3, there are still actors/characters I like. Especially looking at you El Titi (Gregorio Pernía) & Albeiro (Fabían Ríos). Not sure about the new Diabla, though.

I’d like to see how it all ends and, please Telemundo, end it this time!

Thanks very much, dondi. I love your "I'm getting too much time travel." Me too!! Last night's really made my head spin. I'm just hoping that "telenovela magic" will make possible Carmelo's escape. It's clear that nothing else can do so.

BTW, dondi, you said something not long ago about not having the "master recapper skills" that you claim the rest of us have. I wanted to reply when you posted that, but I didn't get around to it. But now that I'm posting again.... Each of us has our own style, our own strengths and weaknesses. As I'm sure I've said before, you do a marvellous job of writing clear, concise recaps. I'm frankly in awe of that ability. I can't remember who it was who said that he wrote a long novel because he didn't have time to write a short one. I'm not trying to praise short recaps at the expense of longer ones but simply to say that it's often hard to convey things concisely. You have a gift for doing so.

Catalina Grande's husband Santiago went to prison for murder and was found to be gay so Cata has moved on.

Santiago wishes to escape to clear himself and regain his family and respect, has fallen in with the prison Jefe, Shadow, after saving his life, and plan an escape by faking their deaths.

Catalina is the DEA boss (no longer TEA), her crack team is her old BFF's from highschool, Paola and Vanessa, plus another girl Jennifer ??, and Valeria (Diabla with a new face) who seems to have her own agendas, the BFF's are totally clueless about Diabla.

Titi, Dayana, and Mariana are the Babe cartel, and are developing a synthetic drug which seems to drive it's victims bonkers rather than addict them.

Albeiro enters some of Hilda's designs in a contest which she wins, Jota has become a drunk after Vanessa left him, he is grabbed up to be the next lab rat for the new drug.

Black Hand (la Mano Negra) and narco Villa (Dayana's husband) have financed the new drug, they give Villa a taste and he's toast forever, Valeria adds a few bullets to be sure, Black Hand recruits Diabla to get close to a presidential candidate they don't like so she can give him a dose before a public event, oh yea, he lets Diabla know she is HIV positive.

yes there is a war brewing between the DEA and the Babe cartel, or as Diabla put it, Breast Wars.

Well, I'm afraid I'm still having some problems recognizing who is who and what's happening. I hope some of you will be able to fill in the many things I don't cover or cover incorrectly.

Carolina is talking to Francisco and is very upset that Sara has taken on a professional killer, Carlos. Caro has been warned not to call Sara because Sara's phone has been hacked. Caro believes that this means Carlos knows what she's up to. Francisco says Sara is doing it for her father. Caro says that if anything happens to Sara, she'll kill Carmelo.

The attempted prison break isn't going all that well. Toño is slow and out of breath. He tells Carmelo "if you feel I'm slowing you down, go ahead without me." Carmelo says there's no way he'd do that.

Eva, who has apparently recovered from her gunshot wound, tells Adan that she's picked up something strange about a prison break. Adan says he can't talk to her now because he's tracking the gringo. Carlos is well aware that he's being followed, and Adan is aware that Carlos knows.

Claudio and Plinio get to the other end of the tunnel (I think), but they can't get through, part of the tunnel has collapsed. They decide to go back for some tools.

Adonis Madrigal is on the phone with Colonel Mayorga. Adonis is very upset that Carmelo is trying to escape. "We can't let that happen," he tells the Colonel, and he gives him the order to kill Carmelo. When he gets off the phone, his advisor, Bautista Fernandez, questions the wisdom of killing Carmelo. Doing this will just turn him into a hero, he tells Madrigal. Madrigal tells him if he's unhappy, he can resign.

The cars driven by Adan and Carlos weave dangerously in and out of traffic. Suddenly, the two cars stop, Carlos gets out and starts shooting at Adan's car. Apparently the car's windows have bulletproof glass. Adan just sits there inside the car while Carlos sprays the car with bullets. Carlos then turns and runs back to his car. That;s the last we see of either of them in this episode.

The prison guards catch up with Carmelo and Toño. They surrender.

In a flashback from 14 years earlier, we see Caro criticize Carmelo for being so outspoken on the TV show. We also see the president (Felguerez) very angry about the explosion and killing that took place at his children's school. He's also angry that a teacher at the school said that the assailant who died at the scene was trying to defend the children. Felguerez says that they have to silence the teacher. Bautista informs him that the teacher won't say anything; she died just before the meeting started.

Salvador talks to a new reporter about the fact that the teacher had died even though she hadn't had life-threatening injuries. The reporter, Ricardo Montero, says that apparently she had health problems. [Hmmm...] The reporter also suggests to Salvador that he could work together with Carolina on the story about the school. Salvador tells him to forget about it. He explains that it's clear Ricardo is attracted to Caro, but Caro is in love with Carmelo.

Pedro Islas is talking with Guido Espinosa Palao (who hasn't yet had his stroke). Palao apparently was just released from a prison in Panama after serving six years for I'm not sure what. Pedro Islas may have gone to Panama to greet Palao when he was released. They talk about the need to get rid of the present president of Mexico, Felguerez, who is not supporting their interests. Islas's son, Juan, comes in and tells his father that Bautista Fernandez has just infiltrated the office of the president.

Still in the 14-years-ago flashback, we see Caro and Carmelo visit with his mother. The mother is upset by the bad language that Carmelo used on television. She tells him that tomorrow he must go and apologize. When he says there's no need to do this, she assumes that he was fired, and she tells him that she would have fired him, too. His mother also tells him that Sara has started to repeat some of the bad words she heard him say on TV. Of course, they eventually tell his mother that not only was he not fired, he was given his own TV program. Chinta arrives. She has told the girls that she has a novia, Gina. Carmelo is not pleased. Later, Caro points out to Carmelo the discrepancy between his being upset at the inequality he sees in Mexico and the way he treats Chinta, acting as if she's not equal. Carmelo says he grew up with different ideas. Caro informs him that he's hurting his sister. The scene ends with Caro and Carmelo having sex.

President Felguerez is told that what happened at the school was a warning to him. Next time, there won't be a warning.

Back in the present, Salvador tries unsuccessfully to get information about the escape attempt and how Carmelo is.

The prison guards start beating up Toño and Carmelo. Carmelo tries to get them to leave Toño alone, the escape was solely Carmelo's idea.

Tuerte gets to use Amador's phone to send a message about the escape attempt. The next thing we know, it's all over social media and in the newspaper. Indeed, the newspaper carries the headline "Presumed Death of Carmelo Alvarado."

One of the prison guards says to the others that he can't kill the President, but he can kill the old fat guy (Toño). Soon after this, Carmelo hears them beating Toño in his cell. Colonel Mayorga wants to find out who helped Carmelo try to escape. He orders Amador and one other guard to come with him.

In a flashback from 3 years ago, Caro is very upset with Carmelo. The newspapers have linked Pia and Carmelo. Caro and Carmelo fight. Carmelo says he'll sleep on the couch. He goes to the couch and sees that Sara [who for some reason has dark hair rather than the blond hair we've seen her with before] is present. She tells him that all the yelling woke her up [and turned her hair from blond to black?]. She asks him, "More novias, Pa?" She asks him whether the stories are true. He doesn't deny it. Isabel tells him that her mother doesn't want to forgive him any more. "I hope she will," replies Carmelo.

Back in their bedroom, Isabel asks Sara whether she thinks their parents will get divorced. And in the parents' bedroom, Caro tells Carmelo, "You don't love me as you used to. And it's not just the women. You're soaring, and I'm left down here." Carmelo asks her whether she wants to separate.

At the prison in the present, Tuerto comes to see Ramses. Ramses says something about putting Gonzales (whoever he is) on the payroll. He also says that Vega has been theirs for quite some time. Then he tells Tuerte that he wants to see Tinajas. Oops, sorry boss, he's dead. "How did that happen?" Ramses demands to know. Tuerte claims he doesn't know, that it was one of the people protecting Carmelo.

Bautista asks Pia to call Pedro Islas (who is with Palao and is not answering Bautista's calls). She does so and hands the phone to Bautista. He tells Islas that Adonis has got to be reined in, he has ordered Mayorga to kill Carmelo. Islas says that's taken care of and hangs up. Palao says that everyone is talking about Carmelo after his escape attempt. We have to be very careful. Islas wonders whether it wouldn't have been better to leave Carmelo where he was. "No," replies Palao, "he has to die. Not now, but soon. Let's hope that Ramses takes care of that."

Colonel Mayorga has Amador and one other guard in his office. He thinks one of them helped Carmelo make his escape attempt, and he wants the guilty person to confess. They both claim to be innocent. Finally, Mayorga has Carmelo brought in. He asks which of these two men helped him. Carmelo replies that no one helped him, he did what he had to do, or at least he tried. Finally, Mayorga takes out his gun and points it at Carmelo's head. I think he says something about Carmelo committing suicide [with a little help from Mayorga]. End of episode.

they mentioned an earthquake as to why a portion of the tunnel was blocked.

on the guards, it's Vega and Amador that Mayorga is questioning, Tuerto got the phone from another guy, (maybe Gonzales), who came with him to see Ramses.

the old Prez is something, he cancels his staff meeting and summons Benito (current AG) and Bautista to his office where he lets them wait, Benito tells the story of another guy who once left them waiting over night and when he arrived the next morning said, "where were we?". Just then the old Prez arrives and says "where were we?"

Benito complains that the investigation is on hold while they are meeting, Prez doesn't like his attitude and tells him to leave and he never wants to see him again.

Bautisto tells him he heard the bombing was a warning, won't be next time, the Prez calls him on being the messenger boy and tells him to beat it.

Pedro warns Palao to quit doing the coke before he has a stroke.

I imagine with the public uproar they will have to show that Carmelo is alive, so such luck for Tono.

I could have used a Paraiso review show instead of Betty en NY Gran Noche. Was Betty that popular in the ratings?

The baddies are looking to refine their new synthetic drug, XY4. As is, they won’t have any repeat customers. So they pick random junkies & drunks off the street for experiments.

Unlucky Jota was picked up for experimentation. When and why did Vanessa leave him? I don’t remember this.

I think super macho Dr. Santi was more concerned about being labeled gay than about being framed for murder. So he saved Shadow with his filthy t-shirt and now he’s the brains behind the escape plan?

DEA Babes v. Cartel Babes, or as deb noted, breast wars! I have to laugh at Vanessa and Paola as DEA agents. Yes, deb, the BFFs are so clueless. I think the other main agent is Natalia who clearly doesn’t like or trust Valeria/Diabla.

Why is Catagrande so surprised to find out Mariana is a member of the Babe Cartel? Catagrande--still stupid after all these years.

Black Hand is digging into Catagrande’s past. He finds out she was a prepago and wants to contact all the drug lords who slept with her. They will use this info at a later date. He meets with Diabla: I’ll fix your life and you will fix mine. Plans are to have Diabla become romantically involved with the leading presidential candidate. They need to derail his candidacy.

Diabla has her sights set on Albeiro once again.

The DEA Babes get word on the Cartel Babes. Special ops time. Orders from Cata (mama, not DEA): make sure no harm comes to Mariana. Later, Valeria volunteers to capture Mariana to guarantee her safety.

Did anyone mention that Montero quit or was fired from the TV station after bucking Lazcano? Then he was almost immediately hired at the newspaper by Chava. I saw the way he looked at Caro.

How is Tuerto going to keep Vega from spilling about the cause of Tinajas’ death? Is Mayorga going to conveniently do away with Vega? I would think Amador needs to stick around to help Carmelo. And there are plans to put Gonzalez on the payroll, too.

The only reason I knew it was Ricardo Montero and not Francisco is that Salvador called him by his name. I don't understand why they've cast a bunch of look-alike actors. Nor why they confuse things further by having Sara a blonde in most of the other episodes but dark-haired last night. And although I've seen Vega on several previous episodes, somehow I didn't recognize him as the other person the Colonel had summoned for questioning. I would have thought he'd be the last person the Colonel would suspect.

dondi, great question about how Tuerto is going to keep Vega from spilling the beans about how Tinajas died. And no, I didn't notice that Montero quit or was fired from the TV station and then was almost immediately hired by Salvador. In fact, I wasn't at all sure who Montero was. I'm having a hard time keeping these look-alike folks straight. And I'm beginning to find the time shifts more tedious than interesting.

I also wondered about Sara's dark hair. And I'm wondering about hair in general. I'm thinking they must have filmed all the flashback scenes at once and then all the present day scenes at once. There are so many characters with black hair in the past and grey in the present.

Well, like Teresa Mendoza, Carmelo Alvarado is the safest guy in Mexico. He gets beat up a lot, but they're not going to kill him. Is he refused visitors now? Why can't Paco, the lawyer in love with Caro, take a picture of how beat up he is and have it go viral?

XY4 makes a person feel super human and who doesn't want to be a super hero.

Diabla ponders dying of HIV, Black Hand has a cure, X6, it requires 6 injections a month apart, he wants 6 missions from Diabla, she's falls.

why hasn't he released it, there are not enough people with the disease, he's working with the Russians and Chinese to develop a new strain.

and somewhere along the line Dayana says, and I thought we were evil.

later Diabla summons Calvo (how can we not like this guy, he is so layed back) she spills on the HIV, she wants a partner on her death journey, tells Calvo to prick himself with the needle he used to get a blood sample for her confirm test, he looks pale, it's a joke but Calvo isn't laughing, it's Albeiro she wants to join her on that journey and for Calvo to make it so.

oh and we see she has Albeiro's kid, no love here.

they must have toned down the drug for Hulk Jota because he didn't dive off the bridge, he tripped and fell, and he didn't die, (if we are lucky he will be in a coma for the rest of the show).

DEA CataG is on it at the hospital, looking for signs of a new drug and linking the earlier case.

but she pauses for a kiss with Albeiro, I'm wondering where Hilda is, ding, the elevator opens.

Dayana swings by mom's (Mirtha) house and kicks them out, she needs it, sister Liset rebels and Dayana puts a bullet into her head, wait, mom smashes Dayana on the head first, they run for it.

Liset calls CataM, she and Hernan are in Bogota going to school, Cata calls Hilda, who's crying, Hilda is on it, CataM thinks her mom is depressed, depressed is the gun Hilda is holding to her head, CataM calls her back interrupting the shot, Hilda spills on Albeiro and CataG kissing.

Hilda brings in the stray dogs, Mirtha and Liset, puts them to work in her sweat shop, Salvador shows up courting Hilda's talents, asks her to dinner, Hilda turns him down but Liset turns the tide, they have a lovely evening together with roses, he drops her off, and I'm wondering where Albeiro is, yep there he is in the shadows, they do a cheek kiss.

Doctora Santi and the Shadow gang are creeping around the dark prison infirmary looking for a drug that will kill them, temporarily, not to worry, they each have a flashlight.

Diabla rounds up the other Babes, Dayana and Mariana, Las Vegas bound, and Titi? Mariana puts him in charge of their girl, what?

and the mission is, wait, what is the mission, let's see, 7 of the worlds narco bosses are meeting in Las Vegas under the cover of a title boxing match and Diabla will demonstrate the new drug, the subject, hey it's Las Vegas no problem.

ah but does Diabla add killing a certain DEA agent, and later we see agent Valeria telling Jefa CataG about the Capo meet.

ok a bomb dropped on me, you promise a person Paradise with XY4 but later they die, "el final del paraiso".

I've been following the series oh so carefully, but I'm getting dizzy from all the flashbacks at different anos atras. I can't thank you three, novelera, Juanita and deb enough for giving me a nightly base onto which I can hang my disbelief...

Just wanted to add this, before we get too carried away by the color of Sara's hair. Many, many women all over the world, color their hair. Sara is no exception. If you look closely at the last couple of episodes, her dark roots show about two or three inches--which for some reason is also considered de mode. When she puts her hair in a pony tail, the blonde color really shows up.

So, it is your contention that Caro's jealousy that Carm is doing better than she is and is in the public eye at so young an age. I agree.

Shows like Carm is on trade on good looks and boy does he have them. She has a right to be jealous--despite his protestations that she's the only one he loves. I guess she wants him to be faithful, too. What a concept! Men get a whole lot of leeway as to what is flirtation, one-nighters and affairs, all fair game as long as he is discreet, comes home at night and supports his family. The problem for these men is when the media catches wind of their behavior and circulates it. (And we're not talking about perverts like the recently deceased sex ring head. They need to be exposed.)

I could go on about what the woman/wife's role is with a husband like this--do you stick with him or head for divorce court. Caro, we know headed for divorce. It was probably better for her mental health, though we know she still loves him.

Sick, sick story line (no pun intended) about spreading HIV to make millions off a cure.

I think we all agree on Jotica. Very convenient how garbage trucks show up under overpasses. Hoping the XY4 will cure his idiocy too, Halimacandy. If not, coma works for me.

Titi is not a happy camper. Perhaps he senses they might cut him out of the business down the road? Perhaps a little jealous about letting Mariana go with the Babes? He might love his daughter but he’s no Mr. Mom.

Just one thing. Titi goes to the lab and asks about the latest XY4 formulation. It’s been weakened for less side effects. Titi gives the lab lady a once over and gets a little flirty. He says we’ll need volunteers to test. He asks for two, no, four pills and says—lets test it out? She smiles and scene cuts. Maybe we see that tonight?

Albeiro looked pleased about Sal & Hilda. This will open the door for him to be with Catagrande.

Nice to see Catamedia and Nachi are doing well. Will they be pulled back into the madness?

Anita, I'm so glad you've been watching Preso, and even happier that you've posted here. Loved your comments about Carmelo and marital fidelity. The only thing that surprises me about him is that in most telenovelas I've seen, the main good male character, the galán, if you will, usually doesn't have sex with women other than the one he loves, except when tricked or forced into it, or perhaps one momentary straying. I'm not sure whether it's upsetting or refreshing that Carmelo isn't cut from this mold.

Yes, many women (including one I see every day in the mirror) dye their hair. But I don't think that's the case here. Most of the time, Sara is blonde. When her hair is long, it's blonde all the way through. But at times it's dark, as in black or very dark brown. And in at least one recent episode, I think we've seen her both ways in the same episode! Her hair was blonde, and then it was dark, even in the front. I even had the feeling that her face seemed different, but since I'm terrible with facial recognition, I don't want to push that point. All I can say is that when she has dark hair, it's not just her roots that are dark. Between that and all the damned flashbacks that jump around like crazy, my head is spinning.

Well, here are some things I recall from last night's episode:

When the Colonel threatens to shoot Carmelo and have it appear as suicide, Amador cries out, "It was me!" Carmelo denies this, but the Colonel shoots Amador in the head anyway. Carmelo tries to attack the Colonel, but the guards grab him and beat him up some more.

Adonis Madrigal is furious that Carmelo is still alive, since he had given the order for him to be killed. He tells Bautista to resign, and Pia adds that she, too, will resign. A drunken Juan Islas then appears and gives Adonis payment meant for him to use after he resigns the presidency. Adonis doesn't want to resign. He orders the Captain to arrest the drunken Juan. The Captain just stands there without moving. I think it's Juan who asks the Captain for his pistol. Adonis then realizes he'd better take Juan's offer, "the easy way."

Back in the Colonel's office, Col. Mayorga tells the beaten up Carmelo to take a good look at the dead Amador. He tells Carmelo, "You killed him." So apparently they're planning to say that Carmelo killed Amador and then committed suicide.

Juan and Pia go into an empty office and start you know what. Bautista, I think, comes by, opens the door slightly, sees them, closes the door, and leaves. I don't think they noticed him.

Sara, blonde again, returns home. Caro is relieved to see her, but Sara tells her that she's not done with the gringo.

Eva and Adan talk. She tells him he was followed, that there was a tracking device on his car.

Sara is now reading in bed. The bed has somehow turned her hair totally black. Isabel comes in and they talk, but not about Sara's peculiar hair.

Eva looks out the window (I think--or perhaps at her screen, I don't remember). She says that she really doesn't like the car she sees parked outside their place. It doesn't have license plates. BOOM! The car explodes. A young cyclist passing by is killed (I think).

I don't really have time to write more. I hope other people will contribute.

Juanita: WOW! It seems that everybody wanted Carmelo dead, the list of conspirators plotting to want Carmelo dead is GROWING!

1.) Not shocked Amador got whacked though, I had a Jesse Stone-like hunch it wasn't going to end well for him.

2.) I'm assuming Carmelo is no longer President of Mexico ?

3.) DUMB Sara is going to end up DEAD I'm afraid. She keeps playing with fire by dating that twisted Psychopath.

4.) RIP Young Cyclist who passed by the suspicious automobile.

5.) I hope the Mexican people can take a page out of the Philippine 1986 EDSA Playbook, where the Filipino people toppled a bloodthirsty dictatorship.

Add me to the head spinning contingent. There are just too many blasted characters in this one, even if they all stayed the same age from start to finish.

And some of the scenes feel like something in between was cut. For example, we see Madrigal pleading to still be the pres and then a shot of the Attorney General, forgot his name, with the sash on and, presumably, saying the oath.

One other thing. I have a smallish TV, flat screen, HD, etc., but it must fit in my much-loved, 30-year-old entertainment center. So, smallish. This show is dark, both metaphorically and literally. Half the time I can't see who's in a room because all the scenes are at night or in a prison cell with no light. I feel like I'm getting eye damage squinting at the TV and trying to see who's who in a room full of villains.

I am looking forward to Cocaine guy's stroke. Soon, I hope.

It seems we've seen the last of young Carmelo. I'll miss him. Cute guy. So Carmelo's show was on TV for 10 years and we see him doing some barnstorming to meeting with poor people as a TV personality.

So, more confusing plot. I don't remember actually seeing him declare his candidacy, but Islas and Cocaine guy are lamenting his being in 4th place.

I usually grasp TN plots pretty easily, but this one wears me out.

Does anyone understand the bomb plot development? It looked like the bomb was placed in a car that pulled up behind Adan and Eva's vehicle, parked outside their lair. Seemed like the bomb was exploded to discredit supporters of Carmelo, but why specifically in that place? Huh?

I’m beginning to think we can just cut and paste the recaps. Carmelo gets a beatdown. Caro loses her cool. Chava grumbles about something. Evil Business Cartel plots against the current president--it doesn’t matter who it is.

The new young reporter at the newspaper, Diana, reminds Chava of the young Caro. He says she is just as rude. Later he asks Diana to bring him to the hospital. Diana calls Caro to come. The doctor tells Caro further treatment is useless. We’re focused on pain management now.

Francisco finally gets to see Carmelo. He holds his phone up so Carmelo can speak with Caro. He doesn’t want to speak to the girls—he might start crying.

Sorry novelera, I have no idea who placed the car bomb or why they did it. Mayorga and Piña were at the scene whispering to each other. The convo between Bautista and the idiot Madrigal made it seem like the Madrigal came up with the idea to blame Carmelo supporters. But Madrigal’s out of a job no matter what.

I’m thinking the Business Cartel’s candidate is the guy who did the interview with the upset stomach kid.

Benito Rivas Macin is sworn in as the new president.

let's see what I remember about Wednesday's show,

the bombing they didn't explain, since watermelon Joe tailed Adan back to the eagle nest and they waited up all night for him to come kill them, I assumed he planted the bomb, but hey, there wasn't so much as a black smudge on the sidewalk or building next to the car bomb, only the car and the poor guy on the bicycle got blown up.

and it's Adonis that has the idea to pin it on Carmelo's radical supporters, Mayorga prints up a bunch of posters, has his guys burn the edges, throws them around the car, then brings in the press.

I think the closing scene where Caro is looking at the videos, she recognizes it's the eagle nest.

Juanita, I did notice Sara has dark hair as a kid, blond in the present, I'll have to pay more attention.

novelera, I believe Carmelo announced his candidacy when he quit his tv show, and I think Pedro's candidate is in 4th place, Carmelo is 3rd which for some reason means he is going to win.

dondi, first off I really appreciate your comments on both shows and especially when you correct me, but I think we are getting into too many presidential candidates, the one with the daughter faking the tummy pains is Black Hand's pick from the other show, do you think him and Pedro could be brothers?

Novelera, I think either in this episode or the last (they tend to merge together in a mystifying blur), we saw Benito finally cave in and agree to be the next sort-of president. And so when Adonis realized that he couldn't continue (not with Juanito asking for the Captain's pistol), Benito's taking the position had been prepared for.

And as dondi356 has said, Adonis does seem to come up with the idea of blaming the bombing on Carmelo's supporters, but that was all spur of the moment. I don't think we saw anyone actually plan the bombing, so we don't know who's really behind it. My guess would be Carlos, esp. since he had followed Adan to that address. A bomb right outside where you live might send a message. But that's just a guess, and most of my guesses turn out to be wrong.

dondi, I really like your "cut and paste" description of the plot and hence the recaps.

I've been trying to find out how many episodes this novela has, but so far I've been unsuccessful. Does anyone know the answer?
