El Dragón #12, 10/15/19: Bait and Switch

Miguel escaped the shootout by channeling his inner Bruce Lee.

Meanwhile, in Spain, Chisca sent her topless photo to Valentin to lure him into recovering the stolen necklace. He called just as she was bragging to her friend; he agreed to meet her.

Miguel tried sending a text but needed to dodge the shooters again. By then the crime scene was full of police and press.

Duarte was demanding more information and wasn't liking the advice or recommendations from his staff.

Hector looked at the photos for his latest story and made up the headline.

Miguel ran into a Japanese restaurant through which he could contact his Japanese colleagues. They took him back into the kitchen, leaving the janitor to hold off the shooters. When they arrived he claimed not to speak any Spanish. The restauranteur showed Miguel some simulated emeralds good enough to pass inspection by anyone other than an expert while the janitor got into a karate fight. Miguel got out but was spotted by one of the gang. They chased him down, got him to his knees, and took the drawstring bag with the fake gems. Miguel pulled out his pistol and barely got away. He drove off, left his car behind, and got into a cab.

In Mexico City, Jorge came back from work and talked to Adele, who was watching The Kardashians online. Chisca came back and tried to commandeer her services but she told her she was not obligated to drive anyone but Miguel. She walked out with Jorge, leaving Chisca in the house. In the car Adele asked him about his nightmares. He started asking her advice about a gift for a woman. She started singing [I really wish she wouldn't.]

Hector's headline was seen by Duarte, who immediately made a call.

Chisca took out her laptop to spy on Valentin again. He seemed to be planning a trip to Rome.

Jorge and Adele exited a store with a largish box. He was nervous and she was trying to buck him up. Miguel called, telling her not to worry about him. [Of course she had been; she had been attempting to reach him all day] He told her he was en route to the airport, saying he would have good news when he got back. He couldn't take her calls before. A little later he called Jimena when she happened to be in front of Adele, ruining Adele's day. Chisca was also in her usual rotten entitled mood; she argued with Adele about Jorge and whether he needed help [He does, but she needs it more.].

Flaco asked Kenia out in front of Jorge just as she was knocking off for the day. She ruffled Jorge's hair as she left.

Chisca spied on Valentin again as he was doing dirty business in Italian.

Dora was talking to het accountant about a trafficker named Rigoberto Baptista who didn't want to deal with her. He insisted on dealing with Miguel because in his mind “Women are only good for two things.” She was peeved.

Chisca went on the prowl again.

Pig and Duarte talked business, the violence between Pig and his competition, a how bad this was for his constituancy. Pig seemed to understand the impact of this on Duarte's political career.

Hector went on a fact-finding mission, finally getting a lead on Pig.

Jorge went to Kenia's apartment to deliver the gift. She was more casual than excited and then introduced Jorge to her novia. She's gay, which stopped Jorge in his tracks.

Howard (the tax man) listened to Rigoletto while updating his bulletin board of crime connexions, saying that all roads lead to Miguel Garza.

Adele waited in the car for Miguel. She was so into her singing she didn't notice Miguel until he knocked on the window. When she looked closely at his face she noticed he had been injured.

Kenia liked Jorge's gift, a black leather jacket with metal grommets. He felt mucho incommodo watching her draped over her novia.

Rigoberto Baptista and two bodyguards arrived at Dora's house. Miguel was not there. When he told her he did not do business with “servants” she told him there was no business to do. They drew pistols at each other. [He should put his dinero where his mouth is and buy a one-way ticket to Stepford.]

Chisca came home with her date, teasing him and sending him away with blue balls. Shortly after his departure Valentin rang the doorbell and she answered. He said “I've come for you.”

Thank You, UA. I had hear a rumor that this one might be woofable, IE: with Chisca's teflon clothing which seems to fall off almost without warning.

After Miguel carjacked the fella's car, did he not even leave gas money on the seat? What a lout.

I like how W/Lemon studios does car scenes in that it appears that the actor is actually driving the car, like last night with both Mig and Adela. In old TNs it looked so hokie, with bumps in the road simulated with camera shake, and the passing scenery resembling a cartoon. I used to always assume the TN actors were simply not bright enough to be trusted with a real car.

So CastroGoth is Keniaaaaaa's squeeeee. What a catch. Patuie.

After watching what seems like hundreds of TNs it is so distracting to see a new one and hardly be able to follow it because I am constantly trying to remember which former TN I have seen each and every one of the current actors in. Still have not identified Adela, Renata Notnow or such. Is she an import or something?

Hola, Kirby. I nominate your teflon clothing comment for the sidebar.

Renata Notni is 24 years old and was born in Mexico. She has a history of novela acting since adolescence, starting with Codigo Postal when she was 11.

She is 20 years younger than Sebastian Rulli. This isn't a trend I like unless the age difference is a story issue.

Chisca is living dangerously and I don't think she realizes that eventually she will get hurt in more ways than one. She is also unwilling to listen to anyone and she is a class-obsessed snob. That's pretty ironic in view of what the family business is.

UA..Thank you for that excellent recap of all the action.

I was actually able to watch last night without surfing away . Chisca is playing a dangerous game that is not going to end well.

So now Rulli is cast opposite an actress who is 20 years younger. What a wonderful world, right ? Some things just never seem to change.

However, Cynthia K. is fierce as ever.

Thanks, Urban. Great recap.

Ah, but Rulli doesn’t look 20 years older than Notni, at least not to me.

I want a safe in a refrigerator like in the restaurant,

Another enjoyable episode.

Kirby: Welcome BACK! Good to see ya!

UA: Love your recap. I do agree with you that Chisca is heading towards an UGLY end down the road if she keeps going down this path.

She reminds me of Daniela Montenegro from "PyP": who kept pushing the envelope & when she tried to annoy Ashmore, we all know how that worked out for her. Don't be shocked if she ends up dead by the end of this Telenovela.

Jarifa: Interesting to see what Dora knows & when did she know it ?

Hi Steve, thanks.

I was holding my breath when the baddies had Miguel on his knees and took the bag of 'emeralds'. I just knew they were going to see the Ebay sticker on the bag. But ole Miggy was too quick for them.

Okay, I'm not watching this one, but I just had to pop in to say AWESOME GRAPHIC.

Oh my goodness, Kirby with his knack for capturing beautiful wildlife is BACK,! You’ve returned, I’ve missed your “woof woof” comments on the fine women looks. Thanks to THOSE who recap for us....!

Kirby: I'm more certain that the way Chisca's going down the dangerous road with all of her shtick, I wouldn't be shocked if she suffers a deadly end of her own making the way Daniela Montenegro did in "PyP".

As for Miguel: he has NO clue that his beloved Granddaddy ordered the hit on his parents. I also believe Dora KNEW about it.

Thanks so much UA! I was thinking that you were very familiar with the opera music and you would probably comment on it. So I loved this from you: "Howard (the tax man) listened to Rigoletto while updating his bulletin board of crime connexions, saying that all roads lead to Miguel Garza."

It was funny to see Jorge in the "awkward" moment when he realized that Kenia was not going to date him because she is in a lesbian relationship. Oh well...

Every ending is a real cliffhanger with this show. I"m loving this TN, even with the violence.

Thank you, UA, again very helpful in following the action. "One way ticket to Stepford" is right. Who knew Rulli could outrun a motorcycle? I'm impressed. Dora stood up to that mendigo gringo. Hah! I'm liking the hackers, but I'm really liking the sparring between Adela and Chisca. Someday they'll have to wrestle one another into the pool.

Thanks, UA. Haven't seen the episode yet, but now I must watch the faceoff with Dora.

Mig was sent away to Japan 20 years ago, so i believe he's supposed to be around 32.

Ithabill, yeah who knew? Rulli can really pick em up and put em down. Give that boy a football and he can run three touchdowns before they blow the play dead.

Adela ---> Chisca ---> Pool ---> WOOF.

Chisca can't keep her clothes on with Super Glue as it is, throw her in the pool and it should be on Pay per View.
