El Dragón #14, 10/17/19: In The Nick Of Time...Or Not.....

Guajolote is waiting outside the hotel across the street as earlier planned, gun in hand, ready to shoot Date Rape Dude, aka Valentin, pass Go, and collect his 20, 000 pesos.  However, just as he's about to do the deed he gets a look at Chisca looking worriedly in his direction.  She maneuvers herself between Val and Guajo's gun.  Guajo cannot shoot as she pushes Val into the lobby and has him take her to his room.

Somewhere along the line between dinner with his sister and Valentin, Miguel has managed a date with Jimena.  He's giving her a lift home; she explains she's trying to seduce him and lays a sizzling long liplock on him.  He smiles enigmatically and replies she's enticing, but he's not looking for love in his life ever again; they work with each other, and she is engaged to Cesar, right? Yep, but let her be the one to play dangerously.....  She slithers out of the car and into her building.

Across the city in Val's hotel room, Chis has a hard time believing Val could have fallen so fast and so hard for her.  She flashes back to her evening in Spain and the rape as well as the things he's told her earlier in the evening and feels sick to her stomach.

The next morning, Cesar gets word from his boss that he's been promoted and if he accepts the job he's got to move to Guadalara.  Jimena is anything but a supportive fiancee.  "Congrats."  He is immediately making plans about their moving and finding a place together there.  She balks big time.  She's not leaving her new job.  She's finally got something she enjoys.  He will be leaving on his own.

Guajo is waiting outside the hotel to ask why she stopped the kill last night.  He wants some cash (I guess for at least showing up when he could have been chillin' in the cantina with the Garza Gang last night downing double shots of tequila.)  He gripes that he put cash and time of his own into this proposition of hers and she backed out.  He's due something.  She tells him she called a million times last night to cancel the deal so nothin' doin'.  He works for los Garza, her last name is Garza, so what she says he does, y punto!  He gives in and leaves her be.

In Mig's office, he is listening to a report from Jimena about some new eco-tire.  There's a cocktail party and a presentation next afternoon in Miami.  He appreciates her excellent work.  "--Anything else?"  She stands very close to him and kneads his shoulder.  Yes.  She's broken it off with Cesar; she's not looking for anything serious in a relationship now either.  I guess he'll take it under advisement....

At home again, Chis confesses to Adriana why she had such a change of heart.  Bug-eyed, Adri finds it hard to believe after all these years of planning that Chis had her big chance and blew it.  Chis confides she's more mature now.   Before Val came she was just obsessing childishly.  (Who knew?  Shades of Stockholm Syndrome or what?)  She was such a bratty bitch.  Now she's not.  So what's next?  Hmmm.  Something fun. (Something more less bratty and mature, bitchy women would do, right?)  Let's do a bit more of Peeping Tom 2.0......"--Er, something's wrong.  I am locked out!!"

Back in the Techy Tower, Hector and Mig get Flaco to try breaking the code on the mysterious USB from Natalie's locker.  In a couple of minutes Flaco has broken through and shows documents filled with cities/airports all through Mexico and internationally.  Obviously this deals with some type of transport. Why? Flaco will try to figure that out.

On the seamier side of town, Epigmenio and Chano meet with a nightclub owner who likes to deal drugs.  With Inano out of the way, Pig has kindly stepped up to take over the territory now.   The owner and his lame-brained brother are thrilled Shrimpy is now shovelling coal.

Late in the day, Jime informs Mig she's made all the reservations and gotten him his invitations.  Adela's waiting outside the glass doors to his office.  On his way out the door he yells over to Ade that she and he are traveling to Miami tomorrow so plan for it.  Jime is suddenly drop-jaw, WTF, negatively impactada.  Ade smiles over to her and shrugs.

Across the  office, Chis invades Techy Tower to gripe at Flaco over being blocked from spying on Val now.  Flaco eventually admits since he learned that Val was besties with Mig, he had to block her or lose his job.  He is inflexible.  Miguel left strict orders the Spy program is off bounds unless he himself personally authorizes it.  (Stuff a stinkin'--albeit silk-- sock in it, Sister!)

Down the street, Val and Mig are having a B to B chat over cocktails.  Val admits he feels protective of Chisca; he doesn't want anyone or anything to harm her.  Mig laughs a bit.  "--Could it be you're falling in love?"  Val admits it seems to be.  "--You know me!"  "Yeah, better than anyone"  (Not quite, thinks Viewerville.)  Mig tells Val he's going on business to Miami the next day and asks him to stick close to his sister.  Val agrees to this.  In the meantime, he's to check in with his Italian contacts and let Mig know the scoop.

Ulises, IRS cop extraordinaire  with strange sexual proclivities, is marking a case board with connecting strings between Pig and Mig when one of the underlings comes by to inform him that Miguel Garza just arrived in Miami.  A contact from immigration called him.

Hector and Claudia continue to ponder over the documents on the USB.

Karina shows up unexpectedly at the hotel where Mig and Ade are staying.  Karina pounces and takes possession of Miguel.  Ade heads off to her room.   Mig is not in the mood and brushes Karina off.  He's got too much to think about and lots of important work to do the rest of the morning.

It turns out he's going shopping with Ade to buy her a stunning cocktail dress.  The two of them are attending together and she must look especially stunning.

Hector pays another visit to Nat's daddy and asks him if the name Silvia Guzman Pico sounds familiar.  Nope.  Another dead end.  Maybe not.  Hector gets him to arrange a meeting with her BFF from work, Juana.  Maybe she'll have some answer, a clue or something.

Back at Miguel's mini-manse, Val and Chis are bored.  He suggests that while the cat's away the two mice should play.  She will send the help packing for the day and the two of them will partayyyyyy!!!!   He doesn't have to tell Chis twice for something like that.  "--Nobody paries like I can!"

Ulises gets a 007 fountain pen to take to the party he learned Mig is attending.

Mig and Ade are outside the building where the party.  She remarks that her dress costs more than her house did.  He's instructing her to say little, stay sober, and trust nobody.  Just then, Karina shows up to give Mig something he'd asked her for--a special infrared flashlight?  She hands it over and then remarks cattily, wrinkling her nose, that she'd never have chosen a dress that color for this kind of party.  Ade purrs.  "--Well we wouldn't know since you weren't invited."  Karina wishes them well and walks off down the street.

They enter and Mig makes his introductions.  He chats with the hostess who wants to introduce him to some important contacts.  He excuses himself and says he needs to make a few phone calls.  That ticks her off.  He cannot help it.  He'll be back.  He walks over to Ade and tells her to mingle a bit and act like he's still at the party.

He heads out and enters another floor of the building dressed in hoody and gloves.  He uses an infrared flashlight to see the fingerprints of the touch pad computerized lock outside a specific office and steals some special information.

Meanwhile, Ulises is there and has been spying on Ade and Mig.  He comes by to chat with her when she's alone and slips his 007 microphoned pen into her purse.

At Mig's mini-manse again, Val and Chis have started to party with drugs and alcohol.  He hears a noise and wonders who is still around.  Only Jorge who always does what she tells him to do.  He'll keep quiet.  Jorge spies on the two of them--we suppose to learn a thing or two or three.....Val has Chis in a seductive embrace and jumps with Chis in the pool half undressed.  The two of them are doing booze and blow none stop.

At dinner that evening, Uli is listening to Mig and Ade's chat.  He learns that Mig trusts her like very few others.  Suddenly he notices the 007 pen.  It has begun to beep.  He speaks into it:  "if you want to listen so badly, then meet me tomorrow in the hotel at 10."   Angry, he throws it towards the bay behind their table.  She doesn't understand why the sudden change in attitude or even what has happened.

At the manse, Chisca is about to go belly up.  She has had one sniff of nose candy too many and passes out.  Val notices she's foaming at the mouth, literally, and he knows what this seemingly means.  He races to her and tries to slap her awake.

Jardinera, Thank you for that excellent recap of this tale of lifestyles of the rich and criminal . Where are the galans and close family units of the old telenovelas?

With his short haircut, Rulli reminds me of Charlton Heston.

So...Will Chis survive ? Does Val really care for her? He seems like the type of guy who is mainly in love with himself. We'll see.

Thank you, Jardinera! The recap was superb and I love the sides. I especially like your take on Chis--

Before Val came she was just obsessing childishly. (Who knew? Shades of Stockholm Syndrome or what?) She was such a bratty bitch. Now she's not. So what's next? Hmmm. Something fun. (Something more less bratty and mature, bitchy women would do, right?)

Susanlynn, "Where are the galans and close family units of the old telenovelas?" It's disappointing that we don't see those anymore, isn't it. Instead we get these protags that use the opposite sex to get something they want or just as release/passtime. Rulli, handsome as he is just doesn't appeal to me...maybe it's his personality??? Oh well...

I'm pretty sure Chis will survive; it's too early for her demise. I really don't think Val cares for her or anyone else other than himself.

I'm having a hard time following the "bizness" stuff (maybe because it just doesn't peek my interest. I believe the lady Mig met at the party was Paula? She is heading the project that Jimena told Mig about. Did I understand right? He wants to sabotage her presentation of that eco-tire?? Is that why he was spraying the tire when he broke in??

Thanks Much Jardinera..

The realization is creeping in to me that I am watching this strictly to see Chisca. She can't die yet.

I was impressed with her shakey down last night in her bra and plastic pants.
BTW those skin tight plastic Pleather pants don't really breathe, Val was clever to throw her in the pool before they came off. Sneaky, but I've done the same.

I too am having a difficult time sorting out Miguel’s business shenanigans. We know he is there to sabotage painted possessive lady in green’s operation, and it somehow had to do with her tire(s).

We also know Adela was drooling over some race car driver there also. I thought the green lady mentioned that the really big event was the next day. The tires looked to be in tire cages used at Formula One in the pits. But the tires they had looked like ordinary passenger car tires.

I thought he sprayed something on the tire to seriously affect it’s performance in the race or something.

Miggy is swimming in a sea of boiling Estrogen, I hopeo he brought a sturdy life jacket.

OK so if ole Plastic Pectorals does not do anything for you, who do you have your eye on? There's no goats in this show.

Thank you for the recap, Jardinera, it helps. But these stories where a person raped falls in love with their attacker are the worst. What an awful message that sends. Between that and the gun violence almost every show I find myself wondering whether I should have chosen La Usurpadora instead.

La Rosa de Guadelupe is fairly clean.

I see no galans in this show . Val is so vain and conceited... very unattractive qualities no matter how good-looking a person is. I need a hero , but heroes have seemed to disappear in these new telenovelas. I'll keep watching , but I miss the old storylines.
