Thanks Rgv Chick. I just got a quick
Question. Has nothing to do with the
Tn. Has anyone actually ever seen a
40-lb turkey? Is there a plater big
Enough to hold one? Im just curious.

Ok back to the show. I didn't see all of it yesterday, just the part
When the storm was coming and these
Guys held up seb and the other guy.
He really hates jaunO. Sounds like he thinks hd stole his hotel space or soms such. He looks crazy.

What was Inez doing out in a storm?
Getting knocked down stepped on, and
Then what's his name comes and hurts
His ankle.I forgot to watch it today
So I'll go back and watch it on the weekend in between hallmark movies.

I hope inez and what's his name is ok.

H A P P Y ♡ T H A N K S G I V I N G
Patio!

NiNa, I bet there is a natural limit as to how large a Turkey will grow, unless it is some FrankenTurkey. I cooked a 22 pound one today, and have one of those blue with white speckles Grandma roasters, and even after the bird was cooked the lid will not fit all the way down. I cooked it in the bottom half in a bag.

I am sure if there were a bird that big the commercial restaurant supply would have a platter to put it on. Everything they have is jumbo.

Happy Thanksgiving.

I guess a turkey could get up to 40 lbs, but it probably couldn't walk on those skinny legs. More likely about 30lbs would be the biggest you could buy. We have a family around here who raise turkeys. They are buying up alot of farmland to raise corn for their turkeys.

Thanks guys, and hi kirby, good to read you again. I've heard about 40lb turkeys before, just never saw one.
Besides that is way to much meat to stuff into an oven. Anyways thank you patio people.
Hope you had a great and full day of the bird. Happy Thanksgiving yall♡

MAÑANA [11/28/19] abbreviated post pavo edition (part 1 of 2)

All the usual disclaimers

I forgot to mention previously that Camilo once grabbed his left arm as if it were painful. Today he seems to have a pain in his upper chest. Betcha this means something. Move over Leonora.

Monica names her puppy "Camilo". "Camilito Junior".

Monica, Iñaki and "Camilito Junior" discuss Monica's future. She wants to return to MediaLink and will fight to do so.

Rafa and Palomita enjoy a pizza together and discuss her career prospects. One thing about this TN, it never leaves you wondering what you should be feeling at any time. The music lets you know.
A business wants Paloma to work on an exclusive jewelry line of her designs, full-time, outside CDMX. She would have to move and their romance would be at a distance. She is thinking of turning down the offer. Rafa says, no, her career is just as important as his and that they still can and will make their relationship work. Music says this is true romance.
Who needs Spanish?

Regina is at school with Tita, and Maggie has started a demonstation outside the school. The Administratrix (why not? and I just think it sounds wicked cool :) is going to call Regina's mom but they tell her Diana is indisposed, so call Daddy Camilo.

There are also emergencies at MediaLink, all of them clients or problems that Monica would have handled, but Camilo fired Monica effective immediately and gave her only two hours to clean out her things and leave the premises, no chance to brief anybody about a transition, as Rafa points out as crisis after crisis pops up.

Camilo is also learning that running a house is no easy task. His scheming kids make sure of that.

Malicio meets with Ximena in a bar, and tells her the curse he's under doesn't affect him when he's with her. Unfortunately for him Ximena can be an Iron Maiden in a velvet dress, and tells him he will have to help Monica regain her position if he doesn't want to lose his job, Barbi, and everything, because she knows his problems and with whom he spent his wedding night, and is willing to spill the beans. Bye, Monster!

Laura meets with Adrian, sighs, bats her eyes, cracks her invisible whip, and Adrian is recruited to Team Diana. He gets a nice wet kiss as a reward.

Manuel's private investigator has been tailing Luis, Lidia's brother, and takes pictures of them together and of the house she works in, casa Sarmiento.

Malicio meets with Camilo and tells him that MediaLink's situation is very grave, they might have to lay off some 30% of the staff. Camilo doesn't want to do that, those people have families, responsibilities, etc.

MAÑANA [11/28/19] abbreviated post pavo edition (part 2 of 2)

Iñaki arrives to meet with Camilo to discuss his becoming a major investor in MediaLink. Iñaki has only one condition... but their meeting is constantly interrupted by phone calls about family emergencies which Diana might have taken care of before, but now she's not answering her phone. There are also business problems that Monica could have handled.
Iñaki finally gets to state his single, non-negotiable condition for investment, that Monica be his legal representative and be returned to an executive position at MediaLink.
Camilo can't believe this, but Iñaki tells him that Monica knows this business as well as Camilo does, and without her the office is chaotic.
He also tells Camilo that he has a deep personal interest in Monica, but that, unfortunately, Monica is only interested in Camilo.

Guess what? More female bonding! Monica and Diana are at Monica's talking and preparing lunch, plotting strategies, and more bonding, until Ximena asks where she has Camilo. Diana is upset, is Camilo in her bedroom? is Monica not playing fair? Monica presents her "Camilito Junior" and they laugh, friends again.

When Diana arrives home she meets with Lidia and asks her to not make things easy for Camilo, nor for la Bizcochito either, that snake! Lidia agrees with her assessment of Almudena and tells how Almudena tried to recruit Lidia to be her inside spy in the house. Lidia is recruited to Team Diana.

Barbi meets again with Germán the shrink, who tells her that if she and Malicio can't communicate it could sabotage their marriage. Barbi insists that the marriage MUST work.

A very nervous and emotional Diana arrives at the "Hogar de Ancianos San Jacinto" and wants to see Mercedes Garza. The Cute Nice Receptionist takes her to see Mercedes, and they talk a bit. Mercedes was a writer, it looks like she wrote children's books, and thinks Diana has some professional interest in her.
Diana is interested in her professional life, but more in her personal life. Did she marry, did she have children?
Mercedes does not want to talk about that.
Diana pleads with her, she wants to talk to her about her daughter.
Mercedes says she had no daughter.
Diana says, Yes, you did, I am that daughter that you gave up for adoption and, please, why did you do that?

== and here the episode ends ==

andy

Andy, I am not watching this one but it is great to see you recapping. “Post pavo” edition!! Good one.

MAÑANA

Thanks ANDY. Another gem of a recap. You have now reached "meister" status my friend. Wow. Holiday recaps are the Summa Cum Laude of the profession.

Loved everything about your re-telling, but these things especially:

I forgot to mention previously that Camilo once grabbed his left arm as if it were painful. Today he seems to have a pain in his upper chest. Betcha this means something. Move over Leonora.

"Move over Leonora" especially cracked me up.

Also your comment about how the music tells us "what to feel". Yes, indeed and this often annoys the heck out of me. Especially when sprightly, rollicking music tells us some scene is funny--when it really isn't. To me anyway. But I didn't mind the romantic music for Rafa and Paloma. Although it's still hard to visualize them as a couple.

However, I think my favorite was the depiction of Ximena as "an iron maiden in a velvet dress". Just superb mi ANDY. Superb.

I actually watched this in a post-prandial state of stupor and enjoyed it. The pace has definitely picked up and the story lines are now interesting rather than tear-your-hair-out offensive and in poor taste. (just my opinion of course)

Happy Day After Thanksgiving everybody. And thanks for the above and beyond recap ANDY. Always great fun.

MANANA

This was your finest recap to date andy. I just loved every single word.

"One thing about this TN, it never leaves you wondering what you should be feeling at any time. The music lets you know…Music says this is true romance. Who needs Spanish?" was so intuitive. The music does lead us to where the writers want us to go, don't they!

Like our dear Judy also thought "Maiden in a velvet dress" was great.

"Monica names her puppy "Camilo". "Camilito Junior". So, reading this, I bristled a bit but then read "Monica presents her "Camilito Junior" and they laugh, friends again". Improbable to me but hey, I'm not even watching this. Who am I to judge??:)

"The Administratrix (why not? and I just think it sounds wicked cool :)" was my favorite line. And I think you are very "wicked cool" yourself.

Poor Diana, having her mother deny her, right to her face. She deserves so much better. All the way around.

Thank you andy!

Diana

MAÑANA

Andy, Andy, Andy! You finally managed to pull it off...get me interested in this melee of misfits. And I agree with JudyB, writing holiday recaps has pushed you to the "meister"/master status. Congrats on such fine re...errr...Andycaps full of your very welcomed wit.

Ditto on the favorite lines cited by JudyB and Diana. I also like the way you're putting everyone into "teams."

Regarding Wednesday's show, I was curious to see how Ximena's conversation went with Camilo and you did an excellent job of satisfying my curiosity. I'm glad Ximena admitted her influence on Monica; she gets points for that, but Camilo continues to disappoint. And Ximena also got more points during this last episode for blackmailing Malicio.

Now I'm going to have to record today's show because I am really interested in how Mercedes responds to Diana. Oh and someone previously mentioned the resemblance between Diana and Mercedes...ITA!!

MAÑANA

Thank you for your snarktastic andycap, Andy.

I especially enjoyed . . . ”"Move over Leonora.”

”"One thing about this TN, it never leaves you wondering what you should be feeling at any time. The music lets you know…Music says this is true romance. Who needs Spanish?"

I also liked ”Iron Maiden in a velvet dress”

and ”Barbi insists that the marriage MUST work.”

Diana’s plot to leave the kids & house to the care of Camilo is brilliant. And now she has met her bio-mom? I really need to make time to start watching this telenovela again.

MAÑANA

Oops,, forgot to complete my thought above .... why does Barbi insist the marriage MUST work? It's not like there already is a bun in the oven.

HIJAS #33 HURRICANES MAKE FOR STRANGE BEDFELLOWS, BUT NOTHING STOPS A SPIRIT SUEGRA!

Part 1

Well, we had a little bit of everything this afternoon--a dramatic rescue with lots of groaning, another hospitalization with...at last!...a COMA (no decent telenovela would be without one), inspiring scenes of the Amoeba Clan 2 helping out victims of the hurricane, and finally a rude visit from the Suegra from Beyond demanding yet again...GRANDCHILDREN! Never mind that our Soledad and Octavio have no hope of a moment alone (he's got at least three other guys staying with him, maybe more) Suegra wants 'em to get busy in a fertile way NOW!

But let's retrace our steps and remind you how the episode started. We see Mauricio staggering along with a make-shift cane, looking for a way to rescue the uncomfortably flattened Juana Inés. He finds a convenient FRONT LOADER (I know this because my 2-year-old nieto loves construction books and he's been educating me.) and uses it to lift the heavy placard up high enough to pull Inés out. It promptly falls back down afterwards-- just so we know how dramatic a rescue this was. Or perhaps it was all the loud groaning that went on as Mau struggled to pull her out. Turns out his ankle is broken. But she's in worse shape. She's has a subdural hematoma that's causing her brain to swell. Her condition is serious, serious!!! I tell you. We don't know if she will survive. The remaining Juanas are in a swivet, but rally enough to seek ways to organize a shelter at the church and start collecting food and warm blankets, mattresses etc. for the temporarily homeless. Well done girls. Plus it frees up a lot of space in the hospital waiting room.

Meanwhile, Juan is disconsolate seeing the utter destruction that has flattened not just Inés but his entire hotel. He puts his head in his hands overcome. But then pulls himself together like his daughters to look on the bright side. At least his girls and his son have survived. The hotel is just a material thing.

Yes, Juan, but that material "thing" was giving you a living. What now? (Jeez, I sound like Leonora!)

Well, first things first. The Juana-Galán Packs want to spread out in town shrieking for Ines and Mauricio. Vicky and Sebastian somehow end up together and locate our mutually wounded couple. Seb picks up Ines to carry her to the hospital (sure hope it's close!) and Vicky helps Mauricio stagger along. All very dramatic. I'd clutch my pearls if I had any.

How about our cozy twosome back in sunny San Diego. Well Dario is reaming out his henchie who has fled the town to stay safe and dry. Get back immediately. Take the company helicopter if you must! Your job is to take care of my house and business!

Dario's job, evidently, is to keep trying to seduce Leonora, who's looking very fine right now, long legs discreetly crossed but showing to advantage. Dario's legs, not so much (He's sporting orange shorts. Ugh) But he's proposing a relaxing soak in a jacuzzi-or perhaps a visit to the famous San Diego Zoo for distraction. Leo prefers to watch the news and is horrified to learn that the hurricane has decimated the city and there is no cellphone reception. She's suffering a lot of "angurria", although I think she means "angustia". When I look up "angurria" the translation given is "greed". (Maybe a peek into Leo's subconscious?) Anyway, yet another fail in Dario's seduction plan, but he seems to be a guy who's not easily discouraged.

HIJAS #33 HURRICANES MAKE FOR STRANGE BEDFELLOWS, BUT NOTHING STOPS A SPIRIT SUEGRA!

Part 2

Our comely Leonora, (who's also revealing some serious cleavage)wants to return to Mazatlán immediately, but wily Dario reminds her that the airport is closed. And he tries to calm her "angurria" by assuring her Sebastian and Señor Oropeza must have gotten away--just like they did.

"Then why don't they answer their phones?!" she wails.

Let's leave these two for a moment. The priest has kindly provided the church's "galerón" (small building or shelter) to use as housing for the homeless and our perpetually disheveled Vicky is bustling about taking care of everybody. Until she gets a message from Steffi asking how everybody is--including Sebastian, of course. Vicky looks perturbed and disinclined to answer. She may have given up Seb, but she's not about to share him with his former fiancée, I guess.

Meanwhile, since the cellphones finally work, Leonora gets to speak to Juan briefly. He tells her it's best she stay in San Diego. She's startled that he knows where she is. Before any more info can be exchanged, the signal dies. JUAN? JUAN? LEONORA? LEONORA? And so forth.

Barb and Soledad are sifting through their ruined hotel room, gathering up a few clothes and necessities before heading out to look for shelter themselves. Then it's off to the Virgen de Guadalupe to pray for Inés recovery. Juana Victoria laments that it's cruel for her life to end, just as she's beginning to actually HAVE a life. Soledad and Barb join in, even though Barb has to apologize for being out of touch with the Virgen for most of her life. Javier tries to calm the uproar by reminding them all that Inés is young and strong.

All very well, but our Barb, ever aggressive, now turns on the injured Mauricio and excoriates him for being the cause of Inés hovering between life and death. "If she hadn't gone out to look for you in this storm, this tragedy would never have happened!"

Sebastian rightly points out that we don't really know why Inés went out in the storm, but we do know that Mauricio is the one who saved HER life, by pulling her out from under the debris. And doing so with a broken ankle, no less! And he did it for Love!
At the mention of Love, Vicky looks glum and depressed--just so we know she's really suffering the tortures of the damned for breaking up with Seb.

Barb now intuits that she should apologize to Mauricio but it doesn't come easy. She hems and haws and tiptoes around the subject, but finally admits that she blew it and says "perdon". Mauricio cheerfully accepts her apology, and then explains that he was drinking to forget the humiliating scene his dad put him through earlier. He was sad, angry and totally shamed.

"And you can't think of any better way to deal than getting drunk?" asks Barb. (Maybe she'll offer free boxing lessons as a healthier way of working off steam.)But she concedes that he's a great guy for rescuing Inés under those harrowing conditions.

"It's rare that I say this to a guy," she adds, "but 'Mis respetas'."

Well, Dad Dario wouldn't agree with her. Over wine and dinner, he's telling Leo his sad tale of trying to toughen up a spoiled mama's boy. His wife ruined the kid and nothing Dario could do would fix it. And then the offended little whelp left the house after Dario tried to ground him in reality. Imagine!

"But you're quite different with Estefania, right?" queries Leo.

"Of course! She's my princess, my reason for living. Just like Sebastian is for you!"

"And I miss my son," sighs Leo.

HIJAS #33 HURRICANES MAKE FOR STRANGE BEDFELLOWS, BUT NOTHING STOPS A SPIRIT SUEGRA!

Part 3

Back in Mazatlán, Juan has discovered that, unlike the hotel, his home has escaped destruction. He offers a quiet prayer of thanks, and invites his hard-working daughters to move in with him, so they can rest up from their rescue efforts. Besides, Juana Inés will need some place comfortable to recuperate after she's released from the hospital.

But right now, Sebastian is at her bedside, pouring out his woes over the breakup with Vicky. Since he know people can still hear in a coma (maybe Seb doesn't) I'm hoping this information will help Inés move on from her current infatuation and start giving Mauricio a chance.

Speaking of chances, the Juana's are not appreciating theirs at all. They noisily and angrily refuse to stay at the house. Why, this is the home of that wicked witch who's been making our lives miserable! No way!

Juan insists.

They resist.

Rather churlish in my opinion. But that's our Juanas.

Back at the hospital, Mau has now limped in and tells Sebastian he'll take over the bedside vigil for a while. When Seb protests, he reminds him that being with the woman one loves is the best medicine ever...and he loves Inés. A manly hug ensues and Seb thanks him once again for saving his sister's life.

Sleeping plans are getting sorted out. Octavio, who wisely says "Once the door is closed, any space is a 'bed'." has welcomed Todoelmundo, Mundito, Barb's trainer, and who knows who else? into his little hut. The girls try and bunk with Javier but he tells them he only has one bedroom. And out pops Margarita, who's evidently sharing it with him. Chastened, the gals and Teresa head back to accept Juan's offer. It's looking pretty good right now.

When they and Juan troop over to the house, they're surprised to find the door slightly ajar. LOOTERS!!!! More drama, except that out feisty Barb makes short work of them, and before you know it, the two men, thoroughly bashed and bothered, have scampered off, leaving their bags behind.

What follows next is a little montage of Sebastian and Fernando helping clear debris and rescue trapped children. All very noble.

The girls are now asleep in their beds. But lo! what is this? Yes, we see a mysterious, invisible force, pulling Soledad right out of bed and landing her smack dab on the floor. Rather a rude way of renewing one's request for grandchildren. Suegra must be a real pistol. And Soledad wisely points out that Octavio's house is chock-full of people. How does she expect them to procreate under those conditions?

We leave this burning question for now.

The highly charged episode ends with a little shoutout to Casablanca. Sebastian drags himself home, only to find Juana Victoria there.

"Of all the houses in all the town, you had to end up in mine," he mutters disconsolately.

And there we end.

HIJAS

Correction: "we know" not "he know" people can still hear in a coma...

Evidently "We" still can't proofread worth a dang.

HIJAS

Thank you, Judy, for a very fun recap!!! You do your best work with a Thanksgiving Day Turkey & sides hangover. LOL
My favorites:
..at last!...a COMA (no decent telenovela would be without one),
I'd clutch my pearls if I had any.” (LOL!!!)
and
Juan is disconsolate seeing the utter destruction that has flattened not just Inés but his entire hotel…”

I have not watched this episode yet, so I cannot really say much about the episode itself, but in the Food For Thought category:

”She's has a subdural hematoma that's causing her brain to swell.”
Right. And she already has some other rare disease affecting her brain, right? This kid should be a goner. Maybe one will cancel out the other and she will have a miraculous recovery?

Javier but he tells them he only has one bedroom. And out pops Margarita, who's evidently sharing it with him.
Verrrrrry interesting…….

MAÑANA

Thank you everyone for your very kind compliments, but let me make a clarification.

I have not put people on Team Diana or Team Monica, this is actually a part of the show.
The larger Team Diana even does team building exercises and a "hand stack" where one puts out a hand and the teammates keep piling on hands until they are all in and then they break, shouting "Team Diana!"

Judy, "The pace has definitely picked up and the story lines are now interesting rather than tear-your-hair-out offensive and in poor taste. (just my opinion of course)"
Actually, I think we all share your negative opinion of the first third or so of this TN. It was amazingly bad, and I still wonder who could have possibly given the show in that form the green light. It was depressing and distasteful.
I personally find it much improved and I very much enjoy it now. But I hope whoever(s) got seriously drubbed, reamed, tarred-and-feathered, whatever (figuratively).
I will never believe that this show couldn't have been much, much better.

Diana, thanks as always for your support of our patios.

Doris, thank you. "... why does Barbi insist the marriage MUST work?" I don't know, but I assume it's because she built up such a fantasy world around her engagement, preserving her virginity, promoting her novio to her family, and with everything culminating in the fairy tale wedding. I think she now wants her HEA.
And maybe she can't get Hallmark in CDMX?

Jarifa, thanks, and nice to see you!

== more later ==

Hijas

Judy, thank you for this excellent recap. I enjoyed reading it much more than (casually) watching the show.

Is there no Spanish version of the Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf? They shouldn't have built that hotel out of straw.

No version of The Boy who cried Wolf?
I was in and out while watching this show. When I came back with some coffee during the scene at the hospital where they are all worried and crying about Sor Inés, I burst out laughing. Probably not the reaction they were shooting for but -- how many times can they cry wolf?

What this show needs is a serious infusion of eye candy. And I don't mean Babyface. Maybe Almudena from Mañana could make a guest appearance wearing what she wore today. But they are seriously doing something wrong when a show featuring four young women needs to import eye candy.

andy

HIJAS

Another wonderful recap Judy! Great fun.

Through the years, you've not only taught me so much Spanish, but English words as well. I'd not heard of "swivet" and had to look it up. Your vocabulary is simply sensational.

"All very dramatic. I'd clutch my pearls if I had any" had me chuckling away. And of course I loved "galerón" (small building or shelter)".

I actually saw the last half of Manana and a few minutes of this - nice to see Sebas/Danilo but what in heaven's name happened to Michele/Vicky's hair?? "our perpetually disheveled Vicky" indeed!

The few minutes I saw seemed to depict the aftermath of a devastating hurricane all too realistically. What terrible destruction At least this is only a show.

Most excellent Judy. Gracias amiga.

Diana

ANDY

- "And maybe she can't get Hallmark in CDMX?"
LOL! Actually, they do. This week, I told my adult student I tutor in conversational English (originally from Mexico City) to watch some Hallmark Xmas movies, not for content but just to hear people speak a little slower and more clearly then prime time TV, and help her with pronunciation. She told me they actually do get those movies down there. Who knew???

- "What this show needs is a serious infusion of eye candy"
The male viewers are really getting shortchanged.

DIANA - and Vicky was probably having a good hair day, today. 😳

HIJAS

Judy this was funny recapping you done girl.
"THE STORM flattened Inez and his hotel". And that's why it's so funny,
The way you put things. Any other time
It wouldn't be. I'm glad about that. We need to seriously laugh these days. So for That reason, laugh laugh &laugh
Some more.

Dario is a dirty dog. How did his wife
Die, or is she dead or did she leave
Him and the kids? I thought maybe she
Died in childbirth and that would be a
Reason for him hating his son. Or just
Not liking mau. He Treats him like he did Something to him. Treats his daughter like she is and Mau like he's not his son. Hey there's a thought.

Leo must have forgotten that nasty E
Messsage she left on the phone. If she
Comes back and find the jaunas in her
House she's gonna pitch a hussy fit.

Seb looked mad when he quoted Bogart.
They'll stand there til Monday then we
Shall see what she says.

"I would clutch my pearls if I had any" so funny JudyB.
And "finally a COMA. just what a soap needs. Lol, what would A soap be with
Out a good coma scene to annoy every, body, so dadgum long to wake up. And
Then when she wakes up he's married to somebody else. Ok that's another story
Wake up Inez Santa's coming.

Thank you JudyB. Keep crankin em out
Girl. We need to laugh.

MAÑANA [11/29/19] Black Friday edition (50% Off!!) (part 1 of 2)

[The silly people who make this TN are not paying attention to what they are doing. They let some scenes run on way too boringly long; they get scenes mixed up and keep jumping back and forth from one to another and back again; and they generally just messed things up.
I fixed their mistakes for them :-]

Diana speaks with doña Meche, I am the daughter that you gave up for adoption and, please, why did you do that?
Mercedes wants no part of this conversation, she tells Diana that she's not proud of her past life but she won't allow anyone to judge her.
Diana, of course, does not want to judge her, just learn a little about her and about her own parentage.
Mercedes is adamant, she does not want to talk about it and asks our Cute Nice Receptionist to not allow Diana to come see her again.

Aside from that, it was a good episode, but not a great episode. Some good scenes but as many, or more, truly silly, silísimo! (not a real word :)

Case in point:
Monica carries "Camilo" near Nico's school so he can see just how handsome his namesake is, then she spots Camilo and "sick" Nico leaving the school and runs around the corner so they won't see her. Little Camilo gets away from her and runs up to Nico and Big Camilo who find the puppy has no ID. Monica recruits some young passerby to go claim that the dog, named Camilo, is his. He goes around the corner and calls "Camilo!" Big Camilo is all "Do I know you?"
They work it out and the kid returns Camilito to Monica without the Big Camilo being any the wiser.

She then goes to the park, still carrying Little Camilo, still no ID, no leash, no little plastic doggie poop baggies, nada de nada. A rather poor Doggie Momma is our Monica.

In the park a young girl runs after her own dog who has gotten away, and she calls after the dog, "Monica! Monica!" Naturally, our Monica thinks that her "Camilo" and the girl's "Monica" should be friends, at least, but the girl tells her that her "Monica" already has a novio. [We saw this young girl recently in another TN, but I can't quite place her, probably MMTF.]
Anyway, Monica is sad, it seems getting a Camilo and a Monica together is a hard thing to do.

Malicio meets with his co-conspirator and they do a little evildoer bonding, but not that much, as evildoers are mostly in it for themselves, so no team exercises here.
Malicio thinks he can put off Ximena a bit more, but they do decide they should be doing something evil and moving on their evil plan for MediaLink. Oh, they are so evil!

Paloma does some mother/daughter bonding with Laura, some smoochie bonding with Rafa.

Monica joins a dance class in the park and bounces around to the TN's theme song. Camilo driving back from taking a "sick" Nico home to Lidia turns on the car radio and hears his and Diana's song, the one they danced to at Barbi's wedding. [Meh. I guess I missed a few mistakes.]

Lidia is on Team Diana and knows Nico is not sick; she goes to the kitchen to get him an ice cream. Manuel then arrives, with that wonderful TN timing, and enlists Nico in his plan to talk to Lidia. He gets Nico to tell him the story Lidia made up for him about the wicked witch and how poor Princess Bodoque went to jail.

MAÑANA (part 2 of 2)

Regina and Tita go see Really Crazy Witch Maggie to tell her that Regina has decided that since she and Manuel have broken up, she can't give her baby to them for adoption. Maggie becomes a Really, Really, Crazy Witch, and I got nervous for poor preggo Regina for a bit.

We see a short scene with several young guys doing wild and crazy stunts on skateboards in the park. One of them looks like he might be Baby Daddy, but we still get no glimpse of his face. Maybe it's Babyface, with his hair lightened a bit from the Australian sun?

Nico gets Lidia to play a game with him. She has to close her eyes and wait. It was a setup, of course, and in walks Manuel who wants to know what happened to separate them. She says he sent her to jail with a false charge of stealing family jewelry. He says no, he was travelling and when he returned she seemingly had just abandoned him. She doesn't believe him and does some boohooing. He leaves.

Ah, a change of scene: Monica's apartment, Iñaki arrives bearing food and lisping. He learns that Monica has named the puppy Camilo. So Monica won't miss Camilo Sr. so much. [Probably not exactly music to Iñaki's ears].

Almudena arrives at casa Sarmiento to butter up Nico with some sweets. Nico is a true member of Team Diana, and is too young to really appreciate the goodies bearing the goodies, AND only has eyes for Eli anyway, so he is quite unfriendly to Almudena and asks her to leave.

Diana arrives back at Tita's, still crying from her bio mom's rejection. [OK, she has to get over it now and resign herself to never seeing bio mom again, right?]
Maybe not. Cute Nice Receptionist asks doña Meche to reconsider her refusal to talk to Diana. Meche doesn't want to, she made a decision a long time ago, she doesn't want to now feel ashamed for the decision. Diana has a good life, Mercedes would like to just leave things as they are.
I knew that CNR was a sweetheart! Too bad she doesn't have an actual name.

Iñaki goes about preparing a meal because he wants to spoil Monica and she has no kitchen skills anyway. Iñaki also drops some hints that Monica's interest in Camilo is not a good thing for her. And a few hints that he is interested in her himself.

Manuel arrives home and searches their safe. He finds the "stolen" jewelry and confronts RRCW Maggie.

Camilo gives Evil Malicio a proposal that might fix their financial problems. Malicio will check it out. He then smiles an evil smile and texts Evil Damian: Good work! Rafa won't get out of this jam.

Back at Monica's she and Iñaki talk about Camilo, Almudena, and others. He tells her that, no, he has no interest in Almudena anymore; they are very different people. He talks about what he does want in life, a real home, etc., and Monica looks at him, finally recognizing something in him. She suspects he might just have a love interest. So she asks him, "Are you in love with somebody?"

Camilo leaves work and finds slinky Almudena waiting for him. He has had a truly terrible day and is having trouble coping. He would like to just disappear for a while.
La Bizcochito purrs that she can help him with that. Would work for me.

Iñaki receives a call and realizes he has forgotten a meeting; he has to leave immediately. They kiss goodbye, and it's an interesting kiss. They are friends and he always kisses her on the cheek. And he does so this time, but straying briefly onto the side of her mouth. He leaves and Monica does her cute faces, looking up and looking left and looking right, and whatever, as if to say "What the hell just happened here?"

MAÑANA

Wow, ANDY, you really hit it out of the park on this one. Your "disclaimer" had me hysterically laughing. And that's not easy first thing in the morning-- I like to approach the new day cautiously.

And loved all these quips:

"bearing good food and lisping" [Yeah, I know, it's the standard Spanish accent but it's hard to get excited about a guy who lisps like that. Still, I'm definitely pulling for this romance. Just to get Monica off Camilo.]

Nico, a stalwart on Team Diana being immune to "the goodies bearing the goodies" [Since I watched this, I thoroughly understand your meh reaction to the young women of Hijas. The actress playing Almudena is gorgeous...and gorgeous in a dangerous way. Pure catnip. Not to mention those tight, figure-flashing clothes. Zowza!

Which is why, dear ANDY, I also understood this:

"La Bizcochito purrs that she can help him with that. Would work for me."

Of course it would. And for any red-blooded male of any nationality, I must say. Hope Team Diana dashes in to save the day somehow.

Fabulous recap ANDY. I still can't believe a writer of your talent resisted recapping so much. But sure glad that you finally caved.

HIJAS

DORIS...Turkey and sides hangover indeed. And why in the name of hades did I feel the need to have TWO pieces of pie after a perfectly adequate dinner!!!????? Gluttony, thy name is woman.

ANDY...Three Little Pigs and House of Straw. Yes, the hotel turned out to be amazingly flimsy while Octavio's hut withstood the incredible winds. And Juan's home as well. But it's just a story so we won't worry about the logic of all that.

DIANA..Well, now you know why we've been nattering on about Juana Victoria's hair since the get-go. She pretty much looks horrible all the time. Ratty hair, unkempt eyebrows, huge teeth and gums that all show whenever she smiles-- which is often. Normally this is a lovely actress, so I'm not sure what the goal is here. But whatever. Nice to see someone looking a bit more like the rest of us mere mortals.

NINA, NINA..."Wake up Inés Santa's Coming" Great line, lady. And I agree, we DO need to laugh. Life is wonderful and Life is dreadful. We need to keep the "wonderful" in the foreground and laugh about the "dreadful" whenever possible. And of course in this case, the destruction was all pretend anyway.

MAÑANA

Oh and forgot to mention

Black Friday edition (50% Off!!)

So funny. You DO bring a smile to my face, dear ANDY.

And I hope it's still there after the OSU-MICHIGAN football game is over today. The streets of Columbus will be empty between noon and 3 pm , while we all huddle around the TV watching The Game. Oh a few clueless women will be out shopping, but not many. Even if they aren't interested in sports, they'll be loyally dishing up vats of guacamole, re-heating pizzas and serving more cerveza for the crowd.

MAÑANA

Andrew – you have outdone yourself with this latest andycap.

--- “Black Friday edition (50% Off!!)”
--- “…and they generally just messed things up. I fixed their mistakes for them :-]”

--- “Some good scenes but as many, or more, truly silly, silísimo! (not a real word :)”
It is a word, now. Silísimo it is!!!

--- Malicio and his evildoing stuff

--- “RRCW Maggie”

---“La Bizcochito purrs that she can help him with that. Would work for me.”
Indeed! LOL

Why Monica has a dog is beyond me, other than for the writers to show that she has no clue about owning a dog. Could this be a PSA? Gah.

JUDYB -

Hubby tells me that today is the game day for all the teams who hate each other. LOL!

We will be cheering for AUBURN (our son's alma mater) against Nick Sabin's machine a/k/a ALABAMA, this afternoon. An Auburn win is a tall order, but hey, LSU beat Alabama this year, so anything is possible. War Eagle!

OT

Why is it so difficult to get used to a new computer keyboard? It has really thrown me off my game. Yes, first world problems and all that, but...sheesh! I might hook up the old keyboard that is 11 years old, so old that the paint has worn off the letters on half the keys and hubby complains about that when he uses it (lol).

And then there is trying to figure out how to resize photos in Windows 10. With no "HELP" button anywhere in the toolbar. New OS's drive me nuts. Grrrr....

JudyB: HATE Alabama, being Miss State Alum right across the state line from those murderers. Rooting for Auburn too, Anybody But Bama. The schedules used to always work out that we played Bama at home on our HOMECOMING. It was morbid seeing their third string continuing to beat the stew out of us in the fourth quarter.

Rooting for Ohio State too.

Johnson Out.. thud

OT

Thanks for the good vibes Doris and Kirby. I think EVERYBODY hates 'Bama except its grads. We had an obnoxious gal in exercise class who would always bet alums of other schools on their games (the loser had to wear her shirt inside out)because she always knew she would win. And would crow about it afterwards. She was strangely silent when OSU beat 'em that one year.

I will happily cheer for Auburn, and Mississippi State. I have a couple of cousins who live in Mississippi, or rather did...both stroked out a few years ago. Southern cooking is delicious but it can kill you early.

Go Bucks and go steamed vegetables!

"Black Friday edition (50% Off!!)" had me laughing. But this was simply great.

andy I loved the lines already quoted but especially "Nico is a true member of Team Diana, and is too young to really appreciate the goodies bearing the goodies"...

In the interest of full disclosure, I was able to see the last half hour of this. Honestly, I couldn’t figure out who most of the characters were but Luis Hacha as Iñaki was the highlight. Just as handsome as he was ten years ago in El Nombre Del Amor. AND he cooks! And I don’t care what facial expressions Monica made, that kiss that didn’t quite make her mouth intrigued her.

I don’t know why I had it in my head that Eduardo Santanmarina was Camilo. But I did so was surprised to see Diego Olivera. Not disappointed, just surprised.

I would not have recognized Ana Layevska at all. She’s lovely but just seems very different from Querida enemiga, also ten years ago. I guess it’s called growing up 😊

I'm still lost on the majority of the characters andy but never tire of reading your fantastic recaps.

I hope all your teams are victorious this weekend!

Thanks again andy - Diana

HIJAS

Judy, I started to write all my fav lines in your recap, but I may as well copy and paste the whole thing. That would take up too much space so I'll just list the best of the best--

The remaining Juanas are in a swivet... Well done girls. Plus it frees up a lot of space in the hospital waiting room. Doesn't it ever! And I noticed how clean and tidy that waiting room was even after the ginormous hurricane!

Juan, but that material "thing" was giving you a living. What now? (Jeez, I sound like Leonora!) Oh, noes, Judy! Ie Leonora contagious?

Doris, Luv your new avatar. Really cute!

All very dramatic. I'd clutch my pearls if I had any. Had more than a chuckle with this one!

...our perpetually disheveled Vicky Good grief! Doesn't this girl own a hair brush and tweezers?

At the mention of Love, Vicky looks glum and depressed--just so we know she's really suffering the tortures of the damned for breaking up with Seb. Her own doing, que no?

Dario is just getting more and more despicable. I still don't get why he would treat Mau so badly. I don't remember seeing a son and father who were such opposites.

MAÑANA

Andy, I am still amazed at how much you grasp; and how you can fix all the mistakes these silly people make is beyond me. Thank you for such an entertaining recap!

Black Friday edition (50% Off!!) My smile never faded after this!

Silísimo! Another word for my Tex-Mex vocabulary list! :-)

She then goes to the park, still carrying Little Camilo, still no ID, no leash, no little plastic doggie poop baggies, nada de nada. A rather poor Doggie Momma is our Monica. NOt not a doggie momma at all. And who, in their right mind, would put down a dog without a leash!?

Paloma does some mother/daughter bonding with Laura, some smoochie bonding with Rafa.
Manuel then arrives, with that wonderful TN timing, and enlists Nico in his plan to talk to Lidia.
This was a nice surprise. It seems that Paloma has done a 180...good for her!

He learns that Monica has named the puppy Camilo. So Monica won't miss Camilo Sr. so much. [Probably not exactly music to Iñaki's ears]. Nope, I would think not!

Iñaki also drops some hints that Monica's interest in Camilo is not a good thing for her. And a few hints that he is interested in her himself...So she asks him, "Are you in love with somebody?" He leaves and Monica does her cute faces, looking up and looking left and looking right, and whatever, as if to say "What the hell just happened here?" So does Monica need to be hit over the head so she can see who and what is right in front of her? Probably the best thing that could happen to her and she is still blinded by her incessant obsession with Camilo. Que triste!

I got to watch at least half of the episode and I must say Andy, I would really prefer to "see" it through your recaps...but I'll still tune in when I get a chance.

Thanks, again, Andy! I think we are all glad that you finally caved :-)

JudyB, "We need to keep the "wonderful" in the foreground and laugh about the "dreadful" whenever possible." Sage advice, thanks!

I have a lot to read before making any comments. I was caught up in the double-header Dragon episode, which kind of overtook Thanksgiving. Looking forward to Doris, JudyB and Andy's recaps and the comments of the always wise Diana, cogent RGV, and ooh, Kirby stopping by. (You bored amigo?) Oh, and Nina, more of your witty prose.

Doris--You've brightened up your avatar! I love the color (and the cat, sooo cute).

I'm halfway through, but I have to get this down before I forget---

HIJAS: A coma is a coma in tn BINGO, but this one is probably a first--a medically induced coma to give Sor Inez's brain inflammation time to reduce the swelling and pressure.

I'm surprised JuanaVic's hair wasn't even more disheveled since a brush hasn't touched it in several days. As upsetting as the aftermath of a devastating hurricane is, this one was over the top. Sorry, I had to use el Sr. FF through a lot of it.

MANANA: Why doesn't Camilito Jr. have a leash? It's almost as annoying as seeing mothers carry babies around in blankets all the time (I'm looking at you, Leonora in Cuna) long after they should have been in buggys or strollers.

==more later, maybe, after dinner with friends==

Doris--But do they get Hallmark movies in English or dubbed in Mexico? That would be a major determining factor.

Diana--I had to look up swivet, too. Right below it was swizzle. I thought I knew what it meant, but here is Webster's definition: n. an iced sour churned with a swizzle stick until the glass or pitcher becomes frosted. Of course, a swizzle STICK, used to stir mixed drinks, I knew, but not the frosting of the glass or pitcher.

Oh, I see we went on to football....

OT...JudyB I believe you can stop holding your breath over Ohio and M..whatever.
4th 49-27 Ohio.

Other TV on Ala coming up at 330

War Eadles

OT

Yeah, Kirby, I finally relaxed a bit. But not until the fourth quarter. And not happy about Justin's knee injury. But very happy about the beat down. Do not like Michigan's coach at all.

Have to say this for Michigan though, they found a way to neutralize Chase Young. First game he played in where he did not get a sack.

HIJAS

And hey, for all I know "swivet" is not a real word. But my mama always used it to describe someone who was all worked up. Maybe it's Forks of Elkhorn, KY vocabulary.

JudyB--
Swivet is indeed a REAL word and it means just what your mama said it did.

Thank you to Judyb for the recap and Andy for the andycap ( which is even better than a candygram). You both know how to spin gold out of ...well, let's say straw.

Regarding leashless Camilito, my younger daughter has a one year old golden retriever. She likes to take Ellie to our local park and gets incensed when people don't have their own dogs on a leash. I guess Camilo could also use a leash.

Judyb...hmmm..I guess I should not tell you what "swive" means in Highland Scottish.

OT

Ah, the fun of etymology, SUSANLYNN. Guess that's how "swivet" came to mean "hot and bothered" then.

MAÑANA

Yes, Susanlynn, Camilo sure could use a leash...OH! You meant the dog! LOL j/k

ot

Yay Auburn! Fun game to watch. We were switching between that and the Wisconsin-Minnesota game. All's well that ends well...when one's own team comes out on top, anyway.

OT- Judy, Congrats on your team’s victory :-)

Now shall we all go to detention hall? :- D

PS: It’s Susanlynn’s fault that I thought of detention; she mentioned it on another patio. Teehee 🤭

OT

Congrats to OSU and to Auburn!! We watched both games.

MAÑANA

My thanks to everybody for your kind and generous comments.
Your checks are in the mail.

Diana! You actually got to watch some telenovela TV! It must have been an interesting experience, so many characters not who or what you imagined, etc.
I hope you enjoyed it.

Rgv Chickie, thanks, and I completely agree with you that our Monica is no Doggie Momma at all, at least in real world terms. In telenovelas I suppose anything goes.

Doris, thanks for the info that they can get Hallmark movies in CDMX. I guess it makes sense, and it's great! They get Hallmark and we get telenovelas. We win!

Susanlynn, it's nice to see you here. I'm not sure which Camilo you are talking about so I'll just let your comment speak for itself  :-)

Anita, I'm glad you are still with Mañana and those nasty prime time TNs aren't taking all your time  :-)
I enjoy and am grateful for your recaps and comments on Hotel from a few years ago. I find it surprising but very nice that all of those recaps and comments from years ago are still available.

HIJAS

Judy, thanks again. I'm one of those who had to look up "swivet". In fact, I have had to look up a number of words in your recaps, and have been rewarded each time. We often get fun vocabulary in two languages in your recaps!

I think we all of us loved "I'd clutch my pearls if I had any." I hope you've regained your composure.

:-)

Rgv Chickie, "I still don't get why he would treat Mau so badly. I don't remember seeing a son and father who were such opposites." Could there possibly be a story here?

OT

Congrats to all those whose teams won Saturday. It sounds like it was a good day for the good guys.

andy out! (past bedtime and expecting to wake up to snow)

OT..Andy...so..did you wake up to snow ? We have gray skies and wintry mix predicted for today , and 2-5 inches of snow predicted for tomorrow. I. Hate. Winter.

OT - REMINDER: Gran Estreno for “Ringo: La Pelea de su Vida” tomorrow (Monday) night at 8PM. This is not one of those dark ones we have been seeing, so give it a try :-)

Susanlynn, no snow in the RGV, but a cold front blew in as I was off to church early this morning; so it’s cloudy, breezy and a cool 66...right now.

HIJAS

So glad everybody's team won yesterday. At least I hope so.

Is there anyone who can sub for the Hijas Recap on Tuesday. It would be a great help to me if someone could. Thanks in advance. Even if unable....

OT

Susanlynn, nope, no snow yet. I was wrong about when it should start. Mixed precipitation now, very wet out there, actual snow due to start very soon.

Temp here is slightly above freezing, so we may get lucky about the snow. I made a supermarket run last night and stocked up on ice cream, so I should be OK whatever it does.

Rgv Chickie, "...a cold front blew in as I was off to church early this morning; so it’s cloudy, breezy and a cool 66..."
Oh, you poor thing!

:-)

andy

HIJAS

JUDYB - I can do the Tuesday recap this coming week.

HIJAS

Thank you thank you Doris! And love your new avatar.

Andy, yes, and the sun had the audacity to come out and brighten things up..the nerve! Woe is me :-P

Andy, ha. I am glad that you stocked up on ice cream for your snow day. Today was gray and dismal with a wintry mix and temps in the 30s.Tomorrow snow and the forecast went from 2-5 inches to 5 to 8 inches. Geez. I hate winter.
