RINGO

Distrust, Mistrust and No Trust Part 1

What defines us may not be where our lives lead us, but the journey we took to get there. Life teaches us that little goes as planned. The road is uncertain, fraught with challenges. We each experience a different path, some strewn with light and enlightenment, some with darkness and despair. We are victims of circumstances in that we cannot pick and choose who enters our lives, bidden and unbidden. Some to soothe and heal, others to torment. We have free will as to how we deal with others, be they friend or foe. Treating others with the same dignity and respect we wish to be shown and being generous, kind and forgiving is the ultimate. How we deal with adversity is the key to who we are as a person and defines our strength of character. The ideal is to be staunch, brave, resourceful. To defend ourselves but never act out in cruelty or to debase ourselves by stooping to the level of our opponent. We must set the example. We must always aspire to be the best we can be. For not only ourselves, but for those whom we love and who love us.

Oso again laments to Rafa that fathers are there for their child, in their child’s lives. Oso unfortunately cannot handle the truth, stewing in his own juices of self-pity, storming out to the surprise and disappointment of Alejo and Rosa.

Manuel and Max run into Father Calixtro who reproaches Max for what he is now doing since he saw him coming out of the cathouse.

Lupe and Diego are looking at fabric when Julia arrives. Julia wants nothing to do with anyone that has to do with Llorente. After she leaves Lupe wonders how Diego can put up with Julia. Diego tries to pardon Julia, telling Lupe Julia is having a bad moment.

Driving away, Ringo goes up to Julia. Sweet talk and he lets her out. Uh oh, Brenda walks in brochures in hand. She is not being subtle and is all over him like a cheap suit. He can’t get a word in edgewise as she pinches his cheek. Brenda made reservations so that Ringo and Santi can go away on a mini vacation with her to some place in the forest. When Santi is asleep Ringo can sneak over to her cabin. What a dream come true that would be -not!

Oso rages to Sandra and none too gently demands an explanation. He insults her as Ringo pulls him out. Sandra is in tears. Oso chides Sandra for having kept his son from him for 25 years...she is trash!

All those years he was denied. It’s all about the anger, what he was robbed of rather than what he has. Oso tells Ringo that he has no idea what to do. He doesn’t know why Sandra did this to him...when she disappeared, his life ended. Ringo hugs him.

Rosa and Julia are in a conversation. Uh oh, Gloria sticks her newly re-streaked hair in the door. Gloria asks Julia for help in convincing Ringo to agree to joint custody and not to go to the hearing. Ringo walks in as Gloria is taunting Julia because she refuses to help. After Gloria leaves, Julia tells Ringo that Gloria thinks she has influence on him. He gets closer telling her that she does indeed have influence...since there is the attraction between them.

Distrust, Mistrust and No Trust Part 2

Rafa is in tears talking to Oso. Do we doubt he is his father’s son? Rafa tells Oso that this is not easy for him either. When Oso tells him that he doesn’t know how to be a father, Rafa gets upset; he thought that they could make up lost time, but Oso tells him that it’s best that he leave. Oso is too wrapped up in his disappointment with no thought to what his son is feeling. Rafa storms out.

Max wants to quit because Manuel trucked him into going to that house. Manuel confesses that he was trying to give Max some experience since he was hiding in the seminary.

Cute scene where Ringo is teaching Julia to box. They “dance” around the ring and she gets in a few on the mark but rather weak punches. Then, Ringo moves in, arms tight around her as he corners her against the ropes. Diego spies in the background and the kiss that almost happened. Ringo pretends she is hurting him and Diego takes this time to make his presence known. Uh oh. Ringo explains to Diego that he was just teaching Julia some self-defense.

Foolish Diego takes off his jacket and jumps in the ring. He takes Julia’s gloves, seemingly to teach Ringo a lesson. Fool. He glides, he punches – he misses! The idiot still doesn’t get it as Ringo outmaneuvers him so that Diego is hurting himself. And if this wasn’t already a three ring circus, rodeo clowns Turco and Carrizo arrive.

Rosa tells Oso that this should be the fight of his life. He should take the opportunity that he has to be with his son.

The seeds that Ringo planted in Turco’s consciousness have germinated. Turco asks Ringo if Gloria was really with him when she was already with Turco. With a slightly mocking smile, Ringo replies that he said it just to get to him, but Turco doesn’t believe him. I don’t either but I still wish Ringo had kept that to himself.

Sandra asked Oso not to take out his anger on Rafa. She explained that she never told him she was pregnant because he was always leaving her alone to go to his boxing matches. She was also afraid that he would ask her to get an abortion.

Julia fixes up Diego’s cuts and bruises. Looks like more than his pride is hurt. He kisses her which looks perfunctory and completely unexciting. Julia doesn’t look overly thrilled. We aren’t either.

Julia sees a young boy in the clinic, Memo. When she puts the stethoscope on the child’s chest, he winces in pain. Immediately suspicious, Julia lifts his shirt and bruising is evident. The child has been beaten.

Diego taunts Ringo as Brenda taunts Julia. Brenda tells Julia that she and Ringo are going away together. It’ll be like a honeymoon! Well, not really because his son is going too. She wants Julia to help find a replacement for Ringo so he won’t feel bad about not coming in to work.

Later, Ringo and Julia talk as both are very concerned about Brenda. Julia says Brenda is in love with Ringo. Brenda is making this all up in her mind Julia tells Diego. Speaking of, Brenda enters on cue. Brenda tells Julia she is calling Ringo He doesn’t answer. Julia tries to talk with her but she leaves. Julia calls Ringo to ask about the trip. He knows she mentioned something about going to a cabin. Julia warns him about Brenda getting bouts of depression. Ringo assures her that he has done nothing to give Brenda hope. Julia thinks it’s best that Ringo forget about her (Julia).

Distrust, Mistrust and No Trust Part 3

Oso, Ringo and Alejo eat and the alarm sounds. It appears Rafa is missing.

Eva wants to know why Max is leaving. Manuel explains that Max was in a seminary but left because of a woman who he does not have the courage to talk to. Later Eva tells Max that he should talk to the woman he likes...any woman would be ecstatic to know that a man left everything for him. She hopes to see him at the office the next morning. She gives him a kiss on the cheek and Max is ecstatic!

Rafa is telling a bartender the sad story of his life. The bartender wants to get him a ride to get him home. Rafa puts down money on the bar and starts getting loud and abusive. The bartender is going to call the police but fortunately, Damasio and Pepe are there and save the day.

Sandra is calling the hospitals and blaming Oso. Sandra is beside herself, telling him that he is as selfish as ever. Ringo tries to calm everyone down and Alejo backs him up.

Pepe calls Oso and tells him where Rafa is. Rafa is not liking the old coffee cure. Rafa, still drunk, tells Oso to leave...he didn’t want anything to do with him so he should leave. Oso orders him to go with him and he should do as his father says. Rafa balks at Oso trying to be a father now. Oso leads him away.

Brenda in tears admits to Julia Ringo is not answering her calls. She wonders if she did something wrong. Julia told Brenda that she should make sure that there is really something going on between her and Ringo before planning trips with him. She asked Brenda if Ringo had actually told her what he feels for her. Brenda replied that words sometimes aren’t needed; the eyes say it all. Julia then tells Brenda that she may be imagining things that are not reality.

Heartfelt thanks to Rgv Chick for providing dialog translations crucial to this episode.

I believe it was Victoria Ruffo that many used to criticize as her characters always dissolved in tears. I think she might have a rival for that title - Oso! Good heavens, get a grip man!

Sleep well all.

RINGO

Good morning Diana. It's snowing here so I hate to think what's going on in your part of the world. Hope that you got to work alright.

I always look forward to your beautiful, thoughtful prologues: And this was my favorite part of today's:

Treating others with the same dignity and respect we wish to be shown and being generous, kind and forgiving is the ultimate. How we deal with adversity is the key to who we are as a person and defines our strength of character. The ideal is to be staunch, brave, resourceful. To defend ourselves but never act out in cruelty

The characters in this one are certainly fallible. Just like us. Ringo has been very "ungallant" in outing Gloria's behavior while with Turco. And also in pursuing so doggedly an engaged woman. Granted, we know Diego is scum. But Ringo has no proof of that. He simply has the hots for Julia and wants to stake his claim. And Oso! Jeez, I wanted to strangle him last night. The way he treated his poor son who was clearly just begging for a connection with his father. I DID like the way Ringo defended Sandra when Oso was attacking her. Given Oso's behavior, I'm actually beginning to understand why Sandra vamoosed and left no forwarding address.

Your title was a perfect summation of the action and there were a couple of gems I really enjoyed:

[Brenda] all over him like a cheap suit

and

rodeo clowns Turco and Carrizo

Super. The last was such a great characterization of those two goons.

Thank you Diana. Just a delight from start to finish. I enjoy your writing style so much. And thank you Rgv Chick for adding in crucial dialog.

RINGO

Thanks, Diana. I enjoyed the recap this a.m.; it went well with my café. ”The ideal is to be staunch, brave, resourceful.” Indeed! The characters needed to hear that observation at the beginning of the episode.

Julia got on my last nerve at the start. SHE was the one responsible for pitting Ringo and Diego against each other. I actually felt sorry for Diego seeing Ringo putting the moves on Julia in the ring. Finally, she decided to put an end to Ringo’s pursuit. Took her too long. She needed to decide one or the other at a time.

According to Sandra’s account, Oso was no great prize in his earlier days and now not even in these later days. It looks like it will be a happy ending for Oso and Rafael eventually.

What to do with Brenda? Yikes! Can’t wait to hear her reaction to Julia telling her she is not seeing things as they are.

Looked like a good PSA against child abuse started but never quite finished. Too bad. Too many kids still getting beaten these days.

That is all for now. The hour went quickly which is always a good thing.

RINGO

Judy, I'm so happy you enjoyed the recap and your kind words are greatly appreciated!

You made an excellent point that Ringo certainly doesn't know the state of Julia and Diego's relationship yet he doggedly pursues her. He seems to put his needs first except perhaps where Santi is concerned.

And if I didn't love the actor, I'd be "done" with Oso! He needs a good shaking. "Given Oso's behavior, I'm actually beginning to understand why Sandra vamoosed and left no forwarding address". Absolutely!!

So the roads were icy already on my way in very early this morning. Now, the snow is turning into freezing rain which will ice up and make my commute home a challenge to say the least. I wouldn't mind so much but my work is backing up due to delays on the part of others not doing theirs done on time. Another example of people only thinking about themselves. Sigh.

I hope your snow is brief, light and fluffy and evaporates with the sun's rays.

Diana

RINGO

"According to Sandra’s account, Oso was no great prize in his earlier days and now not even in these later days". Fantastic Jarifa. Thank you for your kind comments.

Hmmm. I didn't really think Julia culpable for the "situation" but after reading and thinking about your comment, until last night, she hadn't really put any sort of brakes on Ringo had she? She knows she doesn't love Diego, yet hangs on. She's a doctor, so she's obviously intelligent. Sadly, that often doesn't translate into common sense.

AMOR ETERNO #110

About ten minutes in:
“Nihan will never get divorced from Emir,” Zeynep says with much conviction. “Knock it off, Zeynep” Kemal says. Zeynep confesses she did the paternity testing. Kemal gets even more offended and demands to know if Ozan forced her. Zeynep claims she wanted to do it. Kemal asks why she would do something like that and she responds that she’s innocent and wants to prove it to everyone else to end this once and for all. She wants them to pay for everything they’ve done to her; for something she hasn’t done. This will be her revenge. Kemal looks so angry and tells her that if she continues this path she’ll lose all of his support. Zeynep asks if he’s like this because of his love for Nihan. Kemal holds his facial expression together and says he doesn’t love Nihan anymore. He walks out of there with a ring in his hand.

Soon Kemal is back at the well. He starts digging the soil there and imagines Nihan with Emir, then thinks back to five years ago when he was happy with Nihan at his side. He takes out the diamond ring and remembers the day at the board meeting when Nihan said “It’s done,” and he responded back with “I finished it,” (when Nihan let’s Asu, Kemal and Galip know that she’s taking over Emir’s position until he comes out from jail). Kemal cries and buries the ring into the soil next to the well.

Emir is visiting Asu in her home to ask about the videos. She tries to play it cool and gets insulted when he calls her his sister. She asks him to be quiet, but wants to know why he’s staring at her. Emir claims he always wanted a little sister: people with siblings are destined to never be alone. He used to think that if he had a sister like her he’d never feel alone, and yet now that he has her before him and wants to kill her. Asu agrees that she doesn’t like him either. Kemal rings the doorbell at the moment, as if it’s urgent. Asu hesitates but Emir encourages her to open the door. Kemal is getting a bit inpatient.

Asu finally opens the door. She welcomes him and Kemal notices she’s acting strange. She lets him enter the apartment. He goes to the living room and tells her he doesn’t want her to stay there alone. She tells him not to worry, his priority is his sister right now. She notices his serious expression and asks if something’s wrong. Kemal asks her to sit down across from him and says “I’ve been here for years, Asu, I can’t promise you anything.” Asu asks if it’s about her uncle. “Nihan, she is my whole life. It’s been that way for many years. Sometimes I just want to disappear and end my life. But if I tried, she would be here again. She would come back. If something happens to me, I want you to understand that I love her.” Asu wants to know why he’s telling her these things. He claims that he values her a lot, but loves Nihan. “If you really want this Asu, I can change,” he sits next to her, “I want to love you. I’m willing to do this.” Asu starts to smile and says “I want to. You know that I’ve always loved you. Love me and I’d die for you, Kemal.” He proposes without the fanfare and she accepts. He says it won’t be easy, but she doesn’t care, she swears she’ll try her best and is willing to marry him right then and there. She calls him amor and leans in for an empty kiss. It’s obvious he felt nothing.

Nihan is in the car with Yasemin in the driver’s seat. “What have I done?” She asks. Yasemin reminds her that she’s done everything for Kemal, so she thinks that he’s pretending to hate her. Nihan says there’s two things she’s done now: she’s married to Emir and also betrayed Kemal. He hates her now. Yasemin still has hope, claiming that Kemal still loves her inspite of that. Nihan says goodnight and goes into the house. At the entrance Ozan tries to ignore her, but Nihan stops him by holding his arm. She says she can’t believe that the two men she loves the most hate her now. Ozan says that he’s very bothered by her actions, but above all he can’t bring himself to hate her. Nihan says “Don’t hate me. I’ve done all of this for you.” She walks into the house.

Kemal is ready to take Asu to his home. She claims she’ll do it only if she gets to sleep with him. “If you don’t want to it’s ok. I can stay here alone. You’ve already made me the happiest person.” Kemal looks miserable and kisses her on the cheek, telling her to rest. He exits her apartment. Asu is so happy she barely remembered that Emir was spying the whole time. He comes out and says “My sister will only get married if I approve it. Kemal needs to ask me for permission” Asu tells him to leave. “If Kemal knew who you were, there’d be no way that he would marry my little sister.” He reminds her that she’s a murderer. Asu claims she was tricked into it. Emir doesn’t believe that and asks her to consider how Kemal would take that.

Nihan sleeping in her room with a rag doll. Someone knocks on the door and she realizes Kemal is on the other side of the glass. She asks if this is a dream. He says “I’ve come for you, Nihan.” She asks him if that’s true. He says that he would never let her go. “So you still love me?” She eagerly asks. He confirms and they hug. She starts apologizing for everything she’s done, and reminds him that she loves him. It was dream. Unfortunately, Emir is calling out her name to wake her up. “Do you really believe that Kemal can forgive you?” She asks him to shut up. Emir announces that Kemal will get married to Asu. Nihan looks shocked and starts walking out of her room into the yard like she’s been possessed. Emir watches her from the threshold first, then follows her.

At the Soydere backyard, Fehime is loudly celebrating the good news. Both parents are happy that he’s engaged. Hussein says they need to plan the engagement now, and Fehime asks that they plan with Hakki. Kemal lets them know that Hakki has decided he won’t participate. Fehime is a little shocked but not enough to damper her excitement. Kemal claims he wants to announce the engagement on Wednesday and his parents approve.

Nihan is out on in the forest and cries as soon as she reaches the well. She stumbles to the ground and lets her emotions go. Emir watches with a satisfied look, only to feel some compassion and goes to comfort her. He asks if she’s ok and she’s so hurt she doesn’t care that he’s touching her. She’s saying: “Kemal has finally given up, he doesn’t love me anymore. Now he hates me and he’ll never love me ever again.” Emir holds her in an embrace and claims everything will be ok. Even he looks like he can barely hold his own tears.

Emir exists his car and meets Tariq. He asks him if he knows when his wedding date will be. Tariq says that they haven’t chosen a date yet because Banu is worried about the investigation regarding Karen. Emir says that he understands her, but quickly switches the subject to Zeynep. He says that Zeynep and Ozan have asked for his help in their escape. Tariq can’t believe they’re planning an escape when Ozan can’t leave the country. Emir says that if he helps them they could escape safely and they’d be fine. He adds that if they succeed, the investigation would drop against him and he’d be able to marry Banu. “I wanted to know if you’re in?” Emir asks. Tariq accepts the idea because it benefits him.

Nihan approaches Leyla in her patio and wants to know if she’s aware that Kemal will get married to Asu. Leyla says she knows nothing and when Nihan says that Emir told her, Leyla brushes it off as a lie by the monster. She calls Kemal to find out and Nihan is holding small hope. As Kemal is happily greeting her, Fehime is heard in the background claiming that they have to start the wedding preparations. Leyla’s face shows concern, and she asks if he’s getting married to Asu. He confirms. Nihan starts losing it and Leyla asks if she can speak to him later. She tries to comfort Nihan, who’s blurting out that she has no right to feel upset about his decision. She starts blaming herself for this and holding her chest. Leyla hugs her, concerned with the amount of emotion Nihan is crying out.

Emir meets with Ozan and Zeynep in a restaurant and hands over the tickets. They are to leave on Wednesday for Greece. Someone will then pick them up and take them elsewhere. He adds that once they’re safe out there, he’ll help them out with jobs. Ozan thanks Emir, grateful that he’ll have a safe home where Zeynep can happily raise his child. Zeynep is looking a little guilty. Emir reminds them that Nihan will want to find out who helped them, and so he will find a scapegoat. Zeynep wants to know who it is, but Emir simply reminds them that no one must find out that he himself helped them. Ozan and Zeynep leave the restaurant.

Asu is at her work desk, and gets a call from Emir. He wanted to remind her about their deal-if she follows through he will let her marry Kemal. She agrees but tells him not to call her ever again. He asks “Why? You’re my sister. I’ll call you each time I miss you.” Asu hangs up and immediately calls Tufan, who promises he’ll get those videos for her. She announces that she needs the videos by Wednesday because she’ll get engaged to Kemal. Tufan is shocked and skids his car (?). She says she hopes it doesn’t affect him. He claims it doesn’t.

Kemal visits Leyla’s home, claiming he was a bit concerned because she didn’t call back. Leyla comments that he loves Nihan yet he’s marrying Asu. Kemal asks if it’s a bad idea, but Leyla simply asks him if he really feels that’s the right thing to do. Suddenly Nihan comes out of Leyla’s house and Kemal gets paralyzed. She asks Nihan if she just woke up. Kemal claims that he thought Leyla was alone. Nihan congratulates him and asks when the wedding will be. He replies “Soon. The engagement will be on Wednesday.” Leyla tries to blow that off but Nihan says that if she’s invited she will be there. Kemal says “Of course, you’re invited.” He heads out of there, saying he’ll call Leyla later. He stares at Nihan as he’s going down the steps and goes out of view. When he’s finally gone, Leyla asks Nihan what she’s doing. Nihan starts crying and asks “What am I supposed to do? I only did the thing with Zeynep because I love him.” Leyla comforts her again and Nihan asks “Can you die of heartbreak?” Leyla tells her no, and asks her to calm down.

RINGO

Diana, so true about “common sense” not necessarily going hand in hand with “intelligence”.

AMOR ETERNO

I kind of felt bad for Nihan but she did bring this onto herself.

I’m not exactly sure what Emir’s plan is, other than sending Ozan to jail. It would be just desserts at the end, though Zeynep probably walks away unscathed.

Leyla is confusing because first she told Kemal to go after Nihan, then she tells him to find someone and finally when he gets Asu she asks him if he’s sure he wants to do that. WHAT

Asu is as desperate as can be. Kemal confessed he’ll never forget Nihan, yet she’s there all happy because she’s getting engaged. That was the saddest proposal I’ve ever seen in a telenovela.

I was surprised to see Emir has some empathy. He’s not an alien after all.

RINGO

I’m getting tired of seeing Ringo all up in Julia’s space. And the fact that she allows it. She needs to break it off with her jerk fiancée because whether or not she ends up with Ringo, she clearly doesn’t love the jerk.

AnonFri

RINGO

Thanks a bunch, Diana. You cracked me up with this: I believe it was Victoria Ruffo that many used to criticize as her characters always dissolved in tears. I think she might have a rival for that title - Oso! Good heavens, get a grip man!

Now that Rafa's drunk and a mess, maybe Oso will focus on his son, rather than his own hurt feelings. I don't buy the mother's reasoning for keeping Oso in the dark FOR 25 YEARS, but I'm used to this from other TNs.

I don't blame Ringo for continuing to make a play for Julia. Though engaged, she's still single. And she has not said the magic words: "I'm in love with Diego, so stop pursuing me." When Ringo asked Julia earlier if he should quit or stay on the job, she told him to stay, meaning she was in to him too and her relationship with Diego is shaky. Too bad she won't tell Diego. It was stupid, but I have to give Diego props for being willing to box a professional. I believe he does love Julia.

RINGO

Thank you Niecie!

"I don't buy the mother's reasoning for keeping Oso in the dark FOR 25 YEARS, but I'm used to this from other TNs" was completely spot on.

Even if Ringo weren't in the picture, Julia doesn't love Diego and therefore should not marry him. And while Diego is not a good person, hasn't really done anything really reprehensible. I suspect that won't last long however and that his true colors will come out.

Diana

RINGO

Thank you, Diana. Your prologue is another literary hit; I think I could read them the entire day and still be as amazed as the first time I read them.

JudyB, "The characters in this one are certainly fallible." THey certainly are! As you pointed out, Ringo has some improvements to make. I wish he were as assertive and "dogged" with Brenda is with Julia and Diego. He has had ample opportunities to set Brenda straight , but he just stands there gawking at her. He is just making things worse by not stopping her in her tracks.

Jarifa, "According to Sandra’s account, Oso was no great prize in his earlier days and now not even in these later days." It seems that way to me. The man is an enigma. He can be a gruff, mean-spirited grouch then turns right around and becomes this sniffling, emotional teddy bear; and there doesn't seem to be a middle ground. I can understand him being upset with Sandra, but he has no consideration for Rafa who also has recently found out who his father is. I am sure that throughout the years, he has had experiences being a "father' to those whom he has trained , especially Ringo. He may not have been there for Rafa when he was young, but he can certainly be there for him now.

Diana, I agree that Julia shouldn't marry Diego regardless of what she may or may not want to have with Ringo. She won't be doing him any favors by marrying him just because she doesn't want to hurt him. In the long run, both of them will be hurt even more. And Diego is a scumbag. In the Friday previews for last night's episode, it showed Diego threatening Ringo that he would have a bullet in his head if he didn't stay away from Julia (I'm sure that was cut from last night's episode).

Niecie, I'm not sure that Diego loves Julia. I think he's only out to get whatever he can from her father's business and is not willing to give her up because of his pride and greed.

NEXT WEEK--

As most of you have noted, the 2-hour episodes next week will be quite brutal, especially since it is Christmas week and the episodes will run from 7PM-9PM. There is no way that Diana and I will be able to provide the full recaps; so if someone would like to volunteer to do highlights or bullet points as Niecie suggested, please let us know. It would really help if we knew what day you can help with, even if it's just for half of the 2-hour episodes...that way we can plan accordingly. Please be reminded that the show will air for 2 hours every day next week, except for Dec 24th...yes, we will have to come up for with something for Christmas day ACKKK!

ETERNO

AnonFri, thank you for the excellent recap. I had to read it twice to make sure Kemal is actually planning to marry Asu. WOW! I am so annoyed with these women who"settle" for a man who they know don't love them. Poor Nihan, I felt so badly for her too, but as you stated, she allowed others to use her and did bring this onto herself.

AMOR ETERNO

RGV Chick, ditto on women in this novela settling for men who don't love them. I also want to know why they're always offering themselves to them too (Zeynep is always in Emir's bed, Asu telling Kemal she wants to sleep with him tonight). Asu's comment was a red flag, Kemal should have run out of there and never looked back. I thought it would be a bigger deal in Turkey to remain celibate, but apparently not!

Also Asu didn't even care that Kemal proposed while letting her know that he'll never love her. She'll always be Nihan's shadow, just like Zeynep.

AnonFri

Thank you for the recap AnonFri.

This Was a very sad episode. Kemal was
Lookin like he took a tablespoon of castor oil. And an entire bottle Of it
After she kissed him. He looked like he wanted To run outta there.

There is no way that I would except a
Proposel from a man that tells me he
Will never love me,that he will always
Love someone else. What he was really basically tellin the loon is" I can't have nihan so I will "SETTLE for you".
And she jumped at the chance to wed a man who won't even sleep with her. Can
Y'all amagine the honeymoon?

I feel so sorry for nihan. She did the Wrong thing for the right reason and it cost her. And she really shouldn't have. But she didn't want kemal to kill the alien.

I don't care how much empathy emir seemed to show, he was more than happy to throw that in her face. Tellin her
Its gonna be ok. No the hell it wont.

I just had a thought, don't tufan know
That asu is emir's sister spawn? She
Told him she gettin Hitched kemal, and
Knows how he feels about her and she's not even sorry about breakin his heart
I hope he finds a way to tell kemal.
He looked angry enough after she told
Him about the engagement.

Like yall say, nihan could have not done the lie thing. She brought this on herself. But look at it this way...
When truth comes out he can go dig the ring up and put it on nihans finger. 3
Nights after tonight,what truths will
Be exposed?

Kemal's parents are so stupid. And so is zeynep the inept and ozan.

I didnt like that preview of tonight I saw during the closing credits last night.

Thank AnonFri,good recap. Sad episode.

Illusions, Disillusions and Lies Part 1

There are many reasons people leave relationships. Some willingly, others not. Shared interests evaporate, one person broadens their horizons and forges a path that the other does not wish to follow. Couples grow apart, communication deteriorates, sometimes even to the point of silence. All words have been spoken. There is nothing left to be said.

And then there are those who leave for another. Is it purely for love? Some. Perhaps. Money, fortune and power are but a few of the aphrodisiacs. Temptation, wanting what is forbidden is a strong lure. Opportunists seek the person best suited to meet their demands, to fulfill their every need. Families are broken and cast aside in favor of new, “second” families. But just because someone leaves doesn’t mean they won’t try to continue to use and manipulate the one they left. Those with outsize egos are confident their allure and appeal is as strong as ever. And that no one can resist them…We shall see…Our tale continues.

Julia tries to gently coax Brenda into realizing Ringo has not declared himself and that Brenda might be misinterpreting the situation. Things may not be as they seem. Brenda gets glassy eyed and high pitched, insisting that she is not imagining things. She felt Ringo’s attraction for her the first time she saw him...he even stayed to pose privately for her; he was fascinated with her. Brenda thinks that Julia just can’t accept that a good looking guy likes her instead of Julia. Brenda accuses Julia of being envious of her. She doesn’t know how Julia can try to cure others when she treats Brenda so badly. Brenda stalks off.

Rafa is brought back to the gym drunk as a skunk. Sandra is upset and Ringo tries to calm her down, Alejo offers to take her home. Rafa offers a pathetic punch in Oso’s direction. Well, since hot coffee didn’t work, Rafa is treated to a cold shower. Uh oh, more manly tears. Finally, a hug and a kiss from Oso as the water rains down on them. Oso dries off Rafa and puts him in bed. Finally, a bit of a smile.

So did Brenda pack her suitcase and leave? Nopis. She hightailed it to Ringo’s to Teresa’s consternation. She refuses to leave until she talks to Ringo. Teresa calls Ringo who mistakenly thinks his visitor is Julia. Wrong! Ringo pleads with Teresa to make up something to get rid of Brenda...she should tell Brenda that he would not be returning home that night. Teresa tried to tell Brenda that Ringo will be working all night but Brenda knows that’s not true because the other guard is already there for his shift. Brenda fawns over pictures and does not take Teresa’s hint to leave. Ringo’s not available so Brenda bellows for Santi. Santi looks at Brenda as though he can scarcely believe what he is seeing.

Julia explains to her father what happened. He chided her for telling Brenda that she was imagining things since she knows how that affects Brenda. Julia retorts that they need to stop protecting Brenda who should be taking her meds.

Illusions, Disillusions and Lies Part 2

Rosa arrives and tells Julia that she is afraid. She was home when someone knocked at the door. When she opened the door, no one was there, but she found a note that said that the accident was just a small taste of what could happen to her if she doesn’t keep her mouth shut. Ivan, asking who Rosa is,obviously forgot Rosa was the one who was mowed down in the attempted murder. Julia offers her support and despite Rosa’s protests, leads her to a bedroom and tells her to make herself at home. Julia calls Ringo to ask for Brenda so he tells her that she is at his house. After she hangs up, Rosa thinks that Brenda is not right in the head. Julia explains what happened and how Brenda thinks that Ringo is in love with her.

Manuel is lurking outside someone’s house. We see a woman at the window watching.

Julia calls Ringo who tells her Brenda is at his mother’s. She calls Teresa and asks to talk to Brenda. Julia asks her to come home but Brenda tells her to” rot” and hangs up!

Ringo shows up and wants Brenda to go home but she is digging in. And there are those damn brochures. She helps herself to a healthy handful of arm muscle, wanting to finish up the details for their trip as Ringo loses his patience. He tells her there is nothing between them but she still won’t listen. Ringo tells her to stop, but Brenda goes on and on. Ringo finally tells her that he isn’t going anywhere with her. Brenda thinks that Julia talked to him since she can’t stand to see her happy. When Brenda tells him that what’s important is what there is between them, Ringo forcefully tells her that there is nothing between them...not now not ever! He apologizes if he did something to make her think otherwise.

Turco and Carrizo talk about Gloria. Turco is upset because Gloria won’t answer his calls; he’ll never find another woman like her (ummm, really?). Carrizo also doubts the veracity of that statement, calling his girlfriend to come over and to bring her friend, Ximena. When they show up Turco is angry at first. Then, he loosens up and does a little dance slightly reminiscent of Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction. Gloria shows up to spoil the party and runs everyone off. She rips Turco apart calling him stupid more than once. Turco demands to know where she was. He thinks she was with the orangutan. Julia retorts that she was with the attorney who told her that the judge she established a relationship with will not be in charge of her case. The new judge is likely to take into consideration what Turco did during the news conference. This may cause Julia to lose Santi and if she loses the case, he will never hear from her again!

Julia told Ringo that Brenda is bipolar. It started when she was an adolescent. She and her family have been trying to help her, but they have their own lives and can’t take care of her full time. Ringo asks “What about us?” Julia replies that they have already talked about it...she needs to leave.

Father and son are having breakfast. Oso asks Rafa a bunch of questions to try to get to know him...about favorite foods, music and teams. No one is crying. Sandra shows up to claim her son but Rafa tells her that he will stay there and live with his father. Oso tells Rafa that he can’t live there because he is used to living alone. When Rafa brings up that Ringo lived there, Oso responds that that was different since he has known Ringo for a long time. Rafa gets upset and tells him he will go elsewhere.

Illusions, Disillusions and Lies Part 3

Julia brings Leticia (Brenda’s therapist) in to see her. Leticia asks why Brenda hasn’t seen her. Brenda seethes and gets rather violent toward the end of the brief visit.

Alejo arrives to see Ringo and tells him about the judge being changed. From the window, Brenda admires and describes the strong handsome man. Leticia asks if she is talking about the guy in uniform, but Brenda snaps at her...how could she think that she would set her eyes on a guard...she was talking about the one in the suit.

Rosa tells Julia that she is not going to file the report against Llorente, she can’t because they almost killed her and she can’t leave her child without a mother.

Brenda wants Alejo to pose for her again. Eva arrives since she and Brenda need to plan Julia’s bridal shower. Alejo makes a hasty retreat, likely remembering the robust kiss Eva planted on him when they last met. She argues with Ivan, something about documents which I didn’t quite get.

Oso tries to convince Rosa to file the report. Rosa wants him to stop treating her like he is her father because he isn’t. She reminds him that he is Rafa’s father. Oso argues and tells her that she should see him as a man. Guachin enters, misinterpreting, and tells him to cool it...he is being a cradle robber and should look for someone his own age. Oso gets a call that greatly agitates him.

Gloria goes to Ringo’s to talk. Gloria starts woman handling the goods and then caresses his face. Gloria wants Ringo to consider joint custody. Ringo tells her that she is not a good mother...she abandoned her child for money. Gloria thinks Ringo is using Santi to punish her for leaving him...he has never gotten over the fact that she left him for Turco. Gloria thinks that Ringo still has feelings for her and kisses him. Ringo pushes her away, but not quickly enough. Julia sees and looks stricken. Turco arrives just seconds too late, telling Ringo off, then chasing after Gloria.

Ringo goes to Julia’s. to try and explain. Julia says he doesn’t have to and further conversation ceases when a patient arrives.

Thanks to wonderful Rgv Chick for providing critical dialog.

I have only one question. When are we going to see some sparring scenes so there is a few minutes of respite from the non stop dialogue? Ack.

There were several things I missed - my apologies. I did the best I could. I would swear there was at least one scene that seemed obviously chopped.

Look forward to catching up tomorrow.

Diana

RINGO

Diana, you did wonderfully! No apologies needed, dear lady. You grace us with such heartfelt prologues and follow with a superb retelling of the events. Thank you!

During the Ivan-Eva scene, Eva was advising Ivan that he would be receiving a notification since she has already initiated her investigation into the transfer of her mother’s share of the company to him. After Ivan assured her that everything was done correctly and with utmost transparency, Eva responded that then he shouldn’t be worrying about it. She wondered why it was upsetting him so much; so Ivan explained that it hurt him that someone whom he considers as his daughter would think that he would cheat his own sister.

More tomorrow...

RINGO

Diana, thank you. I am sitting here with a cup of coffee enjoying your well written recap early this a.m.Your introduction is spot on.

I was so happy Ringo was finally able to give Brenda the heave-ho and get rid of her. That being said, I do not trust her twisty way of thinking and am waiting for some sort of revenge.

Granted Gloria is far from mother of the year, but since it seems the courts are willing to consider giving her another chance with her son, I think Ringo should go with the joint custody for now. As we see her take El Turco to task, her character seems to be being rehabilitated.

Well, my holiday baking calls. Maybe more later.

RINGO

Rgv Chick, thank you for explaining what happened with Ivan-Eva. I think he is as crooked as the day is long and have no doubt he would cheat Eva in a NY minute. Thank you for your kind words and support! I couldn't have done this without you.

Jarifa, thank you! I'm laughing at your description of Brenda's "twisty way of thinking"! Just great. Yes, revenge is clearly in the cards :)

I do believe Gloria loves Santi but she is not above manipulating everyone else to get what she wants.

I do the prologues in advance, sometimes they mesh, other times they don't. I usually miss the coming attractions but did see Gloria put Ringo in a lip lock so that was the basis for what I wrote last night. Happy baking!

Asu is telling Kemal that she spoke to his mother regarding the engagement party. Kemal asks if she wants to have a celebration and Asu says of course. He says they’ll do it as she wants. Asu says she wants to do it in the garden at Kemal’s house. He thinks back to Nihan coming out of Leyla’s house and simply says “ok.”

Yasemin is telling Nihan that she needs to talk to Kemal because he’d be very unhappy in his marriage. Nihan responds that he’ll actually be very happy in it. Emir shows up at the workshop and Yasemin alerts Nihan. Emir asks Nihan if she’s ready to go. She tells him that she doesn’t want to go to the party, but Emir says that he wants to go to see Kemal be officially done with her. Nihan says that he shouldn’t be so happy because Kemal is only marrying Asu because of her lie. Emir simply tells her he loves her and is ready to go.

Early that Wednesday morning, Fehime is happily getting ready, as is Zeynep. Emir is in his room, thinking of his next move. Kemal is at his father’s barbershop, finished with his cut. Hussein says that he’s very happy for his son, and he knows he will be very happy with Asu. Kemal blankly thanks him. Hussein repeats himself but adds that the most important thing he needs to do is love Asu and make her happy, otherwise he shouldn’t marry her. Kemal tells him not to worry, he’ll love her.

Nihan is in her room, thinking back to when she and Kemal popped a balloon in the forest. He tells her not to throw away the red envelope she’s holding because there’s a secret in there. “If you ever feel that I don’t love you, read it,” he says. Nihan breaks out of that memory and searches in her silver colored box for the red envelope, but Emir shows up unannounced. He says that he can see Kemal is still in her eyes. Nihan reminds him that Kemal will never leave her soul.

At the party, Kemal looks bored. Zeynep speaks to Ozan “You need to believe that everything will turn out ok. Your mother doesn’t know yet, right?” Ozan confirms that.

Emir and Nihan arrive, wearing sunglasses. She’s dressed in black. Salih congratulates Kemal and Asu at that moment. He tells them that he’s leaving the city to live with his family. Asu sees Nihan and gets a little bothered, as does Kemal. Emir makes Nihan walk closer to them, despite her protests.

Tufan arrives at the party location, and parks last at the row of cars. He takes a black briefcase out and gets out of his car, walking away from the lineup.

Kemal walks up to his parents. Emir tells Nihan that he’ll be right back and goes to speak to Asu. “You look pretty today,” he taunts her. She tells him not to bother her. Emir reminds her that he can blurt out that they’re siblings, for everyone to hear and the marriage won’t happen. Kemal shows up and asks Asu if everything is ok. Asu holds his hand and it seems she’s trembling a bit. Nihan gets uncomfortable seeing that. She’s glaring at them when Ozan interrupts her. He asks how she’s doing and she says “Worse than terrible.” He smiles and tells her he loves her, she repeats the same for him. Ozan continues “You’ve always been my heroine. I love you a lot. Don’t forget me.” She tells him not to make her cry and wants to know what he’s talking about. He simply says he’s her little brother and that she shouldn’t ever forget him. Nihan smiles and says she won’t. As soon as he leaves, Nihan and Asu lock eyes. Asu smirks, Nihan just stares back.

Soon Asu walks up to Nihan and says that she appreciates her help. “If you didn’t hurt him, Kemal would never propose to me. We’re getting married and now I need you to never speak to him again.” Nihan tells her to stop threatening her. Asu declares that she’s the fiancée now and will do anything for Kemal. Emir stands behind her and she gets scared, so she leaves. Emir retorts “so she’s willing to do anything for Kemal.”

Asu texts Emir that everything will be ready in ten minutes. Kemal approaches Asu and says she’s looking nervous. He asks if she spoke to Hakki, but she requests that they don’t contact him. She’s happy as is.

AMOR ETERNO #111

Nihan asks Emir how it is that he loves her yet enjoys watching her suffer. Emir tells her to be patient.

Zeynep asks Kemal when he will hand over the ring to Asu. He says not yet, but why? She says nothing, she just wanted to know.

Tufan calls Emir to report that there’s a package waiting for him. Emir walks out to get it.

Nihan is walking around and Kemal follows her with his eyes. Asu sees he’s distracted and goes through the back of the house.

Nihan left the premises and Kemal is still watching her. Leyla encourages that he go speak with her now, before the official engagement. Kemal chooses to find Nihan.

Ozan realizes that it is time to escape. Zeynep looks nervous and he says that there’s a car waiting for them now. They get up to leave.

Emir is in the driveway street and takes the black briefcase from a delivery man. Tufan declares that the person doesn’t know who delivered it, just that it’s directed for Emir. Kemal appears and asks what he’s holding in that briefcase. Emir lets him know it’s none of his business. Kemal asks everyone if there’s a problem. The delivery person says that it’s only a package he’s delivering. The man goes off in his motorbike. Emir asks Kemal if that’s enough for him, and Kemal tells him to be careful because he has his eye on him now. Kemal walks away. Emir opens the briefcase and finds one SD card. He puts it into his phone and checks the video. It’s footage of him holding a gun. Asu calls him at that moment and he demands to know why she’s fooling around. She tells him to meet her.

Nihan arrives at the well, with the letter in the red envelope. “If one day you think I don’t love you, you should read this. My secret is you, Nihan. You’re the only reason I’m here still fighting, you’re the reason I’m breathing and the reason I wake up every morning. I love you. I can never forget you. Never doubt that. One day you’ll be my wife and if you ever believe that I don’t love you anymore, I want you to know that you’re my sun. Don’t stop shining on me. Understand that Nihan, read this letter again if you have to.” Nihan bursts crying.

Emir meets Asu on a hill and wants to know what this all means. She says that she has him in her hands, and gives him a briefcase with Ozan’s firearm. There’s a flashback to the night when Kemal proposed to her, and Emir was spying. Emir had told her that without that gun there will be no wedding. They both agreed on that. In the present, Asu asks him why he needs that firearm. He tells her not to worry for him and welcomes her to the club of Emir’s enemies. He walks away with it and then calls someone to report that he has the firearm and wants it to have a license date of about six years ago. When the person on the line confirms that detail, Emir says “Perfect.”

Nihan continues crying at the well. As soon as she sees Kemal approaching, she hides the note into the branches. He asks her what she’s doing there. She’s imagining herself telling him the truth, but in reality simply stares at him. “I’ve come here to relax. I ask that you leave me alone,” she says. “I don’t want any more doubts this night. Tell me now,” he says in a serious tone. Nihan congratulates him and wishes him well. He simply says “I really appreciate it.” Nihan says “Of course.” She starts walking away from him but stops, hoping that he would tell her not to go away. She declares: “I’m saying goodbye.” He says “We’ll say goodbye in a few days.” Nihan imagines hugging and kissing him. She finally turns her back and leaves. He watches at first and then looks away, wondering what she was doing.

As the sun sets, everyone watches Kemal and Asu ready to get the formal proposal down. Fehime asks Leyla about Zeynep’s whereabouts, but no one knows where she is. Hussein starts making the wedding speech, as if Kemal and Asu have already gotten married. Everyone claps but Nihan. Emir tells Nihan that they can leave now and he walks away, but she doesn’t want to leave. Leyla tells her “You don’t have to suffer through this.” Nihan still stares at Kemal and says “I can take it.”

Zeynep is with Ozan in the white car, Tariq driving them to the seaport. She asks if they’ll make it in time for their boat. Tariq says that they will. Ozan thanks him and Tariq claims he’s very happy for them. Soon Zeynep is hugging her brother goodbye. He wishes them a safe trip. Zeynep urges him to leave now, and then walks away with Ozan towards the wharf. Tariq is watching, looking anxious. Zeynep and Ozan are looking for the boat. He sees it flash and says it’s approaching. Zeynep starts looking around and suddenly the police sirens are going off. Tariq starts hitting the wheel of his car in frustration. He gets out to watch what’s happening. Ozan watches the boat leave when the police presence is known. In a flashback, Emir and Zeynep are in the car together as she’s about to head for the laboratory. Emir tells Zeynep that Ozan will go back to prison and she’ll return home to the house. Ozan interrupts her memory and asks what’s happening. She claims she doesn’t know.

Kemal and Asu are wearing rings with a red ribbon that Hussein cut up for them. Hussein declares “May they be happy!” Everyone claps. Emir gets two alien phone calls from Tariq at that moment, but he’s not answering it.

Tariq wishes Emir would answer the phone but gives up and watches as Ozan is being handcuffed. The head officer tells Ozan he made a grave mistake. Zeynep follows the officers to the car and gets in with him. Tariq gets into his car, ready to follow them.

Leyla asks Nihan if she’s ok. Nihan bobs her head yes, but starts tearing up. Kemal was staring at her, but suddenly realizes what he’s doing as he stares at the red ribbon on Asu’s ring. Asu says “We are engaged now.” Kemal smiles and says “Yes, we are.” They have a feeble kiss. Nihan can’t take it anymore and faints, knocking over whatever was on the table. Kemal gets worried and wants to go to her, while Asu simply looks annoyed.

AMOR ETERNO

I’m not exactly sure what that engagement party was all about. It seems like Kemal and Asu already tied the knot in some traditional format.

Nihan should have shown the letter in the red envelope to Kemal. She should have told the truth. Just to shut Asu up, she should have threatened with telling Kemal that Asu is the one who lied. This is very frustrating to watch.

Based on the previews, history seems to be repeating itself with Emir, and the two siblings will probably end up accepting each other to keep Nihan and Kemal apart.

I wonder what Galip would do if he found out Asu is his daughter. I get the feeling that he won’t be so callous as he seems to be.

AMOR ETERNO

Nina, I thought that Tufan knew too? In the scene I think Friday when he's in the car with Asu and tells her that Emir blurted out she's his sister, he seemed surprised. I thought it was more of the fact that Emir was so mad he blurted it out like nothing and Tufan was surprised he didn't keep the secret to himself.

Leyla knows the truth and won't tell Kemal about it! That bothers me.

Zeynep the inept really just wants the luxurious life without Ozan. And she's satisfied being Emir's lover. No wonder her and Asu get along, vying for men who just don't love them.

I agree that Kemal's parents are dumb. They're too blind to see anything.

Always look forward to your prologues Diana. Each and every one is a keeper. This section particularly resonated:

Couples grow apart, communication deteriorates, sometimes even to the point of silence. All words have been spoken. There is nothing left to be said.

So true. And so sad.

I'm still thinking Oso's interest in Rosa is romantic rather than paternal. But we shall see. He's certainly messing up badly when it comes to his son.

Loved this bit about Brenda:

"helps herself to a healthy handful of arm muscle"

and also this observation:

[Turco] little dance slightly reminiscent of Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction

Great call. I watched that knowing it reminded me of some movie scene...but which? You nailed it.

Thanks hard-working lady. Another great recap.

RINGO

Wanted to post this separately.

No woman on God's green earth needs to do double recaps the week before Christmas. Most of us are too busy to even watch TV, much less recap. There is cleaning and cooking, wrapping and card-writing, endless last minute shopping for forgotten ingredients essential to the feast, and preparations for house guests or preparations for travel.

How about a moratorium on RINGO recaps that week. Diana, if you wish, you can write your lovely prologues based on what you glean from the previews.

But then leave the forum open for EVERYBODY to JUST DISCUSS. If there are questions from those who don't understand Spanish, they can ask them, and others will answer.

But forget the recaps for a week. The world will not come to an end. Not because of that anyway.

RINGO

Thank you so much Judy!

Oso is something else, isn't he? But I just love watching (and especially listening to) Cesar, that great big bear of a man. I don't think he is interested in Rosa but I could never see him with Sandra. I hope the writers don't take either of those routes! :)

Thank you for your kind, very wise advice! Rgv Chick and I are dedicated (as are you and our other wonderful recappers), but a little reprieve and less stress during the holidays would be most welcome!

Amor

In the beginning I followed this TN pretty consistently and was quite enjoying it and and found the spanish easy to understand. BTW,I so appreciate the recappers and their dedication....thanks to you.

Lately I've not been able to tune in as much as I like so I find myself behind on epis and I've missed certain plot developments even though I've tried to read the latest recaps. Unfortunately, I'm too far behind on watching to catch up on everything directly so I have a couple of questions if anyone cares to answer......

With that said...someone earlier stated that Asu and Emir have the same dad.....is that certain? I thought they had the same mother but not dad. I was confused ...thinking that perhaps Asu's uncle was indeed her dad and that is why he was working his vendetta against Emir and his dad.

Also, I know Asu was under pressure but did she know for certain that Emir is the father of Asu's baby...or did she just say that to take the pressure off herself.

Can anyone tell me in which epi Kemel turned Ozan in to the police and why besides trying to free Nihan....I'd like to see what lead him to do that...I thought he promised Nihan he wouldn't do that. And what does Emir gain by sending Ozan to jail....outside of Zenep in his bed. I was surprised by this but I'm sure that's because I've missed several epis.

And I agree with everyone's comments regarding Asu's desperation....that she would accept marriage to Kemel...under the conditions he proposed. The joy she expressed during his proposal was sickening. I would have been so embarrassed to know someone was nearby listening as Emir was.

And it must be a cultural thing...regarding Kemel's parents response to his dilemna. They's rather see him married and miserable to Asu vs fight for the one he loves. What does that say about their marriage. I wonder if it was arranged. I get that Nihan is married but they've shown not one morsel of concern for his true feelings in all this. And now they're over the moon knowing is going to marry someone he does not love. But that's no different than Vildan...I would not want any of these parent's in my life.

AMOR ETERNO

Hello Nett,

According to Hakki, Asu and Emir are full-blooded siblings. Galip never believed Mujan when she told him that the baby was also his child, and in anticipation of that reaction, she didn’t bring baby Asu into the household the night of her accident. Hakki then raised Asu as his niece since he was her only guardian, but he’s not related to her in any way. It also turns out that he’s been using Asu for her entire life as means to his revenge against Galip: he reveals her identity to Emir in Episode #105, during the fancy dinner party for the charity, hoping for a violent confrontation where only one of them was supposed to survive. Currently it’s unknown what Hakki’s actual revenge plans were, as he has abandoned Asu and took all of Emir’s incriminating videos with him. I’m starting to think that Hakki actually has some other reason to hate Galip, and in actuality he used Mujan as part of his revenge, as he did with her children 25 years later.

Also in that same episode #105, Ozan and Emir are taken into police custody. It’s revealed through flashbacks that Kemal had handed over surveillance footage of Linda’s murder and burial to the detective (which he got through Tufan, since he works for Emir’s “brother.” Kemal doesn’t know that Hakki and Asu are the extortioners). He “betrayed” Nihan because he had enough of all the innocent people that had to die because of her family protecting Ozan.

As for Emir handing over Ozan to the police, I think it’s just Emir being Emir. He’s trying to punish Nihan further or perhaps he’s going to try and coerce her into something again. He never does anything without having someone to coerce into something.

Touché on these parents. They have a whole other set of values, apparently.

Amor

Thx Anonfri for taking the time to respond. This helped a lot and I will at least try to watch the epi you referenced.

Nihan should stop sacrificing herself..especially for Ozan. He doesn't deserve it...he is a weak ingrate who had the nerve to chastise her given all she has sacrificed for him. She's sacrificed her entire life for him and he could't handle a few months. Her sacrifice for Kemel makes sense...a little..its saving lives. But I got to believe that if she confessed to Kemel the death threats...they can come up with a way to legally get rid of Emir...without him knowing that she confessed all to Kemel.

Ep 12, Part 1: Party Night

Previously: Oso got a call from Ringo’s sponsor…he is backing out. Ringo approaches and listens in. Ringo tells Oso that they no longer have a sponsor. Osos tells him not to worry; he must concentrate on the fight. Ringo tells him that he has too many things on his mind…the hearing is on Thursday. When he adds that he worries that may lose his son. Teresa and Santi walk in and hear him.

Turco reproaches Gloria since Car told him she was kissing the orangutan. Gloria denies it and tells Turco that it was Ringo who tried to kiss her, but she didn’t let him. Diego arrives with a contract which Turco hesitates to sign. While there, Brenda calls him to tell him not to go by the house since they are having the bachelorette party for Julia.

At the law office, Alejo teases Max about the woman that he left the seminary for. He wants to know who she is or if they know her, but Max evades the questions.

Julia hears Santi crying out. Ringo had told him that he was going to win at the hearing and now he is afraid that he will lose. Ringo explains that things with his mother have never been easy; it is difficult for them to agree on anything and they must have much patience. After he assures Santi that all will be well, Ringo can’t promise anything. Santi gets upset and suggest that they go far away; he cries that he doesn’t want to go live with his mother; he doesn’t like her. Julia approaches after Santi runs off. She tries to calm Ringo, but Ringo can only calm down if Julia knows that the kiss with Gloria that she witnessed meant nothing to him and he has nothing going on with Gloria. Julia believes him so Ringo feels calmer just knowing that. Brenda arrives to tell Julia that she is planning a shower for her. Julia isn’t excited at all about the party and wishes Brenda would not insist. When she asks when the shower will be, Brenda replies that it will be that night…since Julia is getting married the following Saturday.

Ringo apologizes to Oso who knows he messed up with the sponsor. Oso thinks Ringo should look for another manager, but Ringo refuses. Oso thinks he is a disaster; her can’t even fix his own life. Oso then tells Ringo that he has made some calls in an attempt to find a sponsor. Just then, Rafa arrives to take a shower. Oso tells him to go to the dressing rooms, but Rafa prefers it there.

Alejo gets a call from some weird looking guy about a fight. After the call, Brenda enters and wants to hire him as a stripper…for her sister’s shower. When Brenda tells him that she now wants him, Alejo wonders why the change in her attitude (uhmm, because she’s cray-cray!); so, Brenda replies that that is just the way she is.

Damasio and Ringo talk about getting a sponsor. Damasio brags that he has a lot of contacts and can help Ringo…they settle on a 15% commission for Damasio. As they shake on the deal, Ivan, Turco and chimps arrive. They are having a bachelor party for Diego.

RINGO

Ep 12, Part 2: Party Night

Eva and Julia talk about Rosa not wanting to file the report on Llorente when they hear the ladies arrive for the shower.

Interruption—POLITICS ARGGHHH!

At the bachelor party, Carrizo questions why Damasio and Pepe are there...they are eating up their food. Turco gets a call that some chicks will be arriving soon to give Diego his farewell to bachelorhood. Later, Damacio approaches Turco and offers his services as a private eye.

Rafa and Oso approach the party as Rafa tells Oso that even if Oso runs him off, he isn’t leaving. Ringo asks Oso if he knew about the party being held there. Oso admits that he agreed to it because he could use the money he charged them to use the place. As Turco approaches, Ringo turns to leave. Turco suggests he stay since the girls are about to arrive…he should stay; maybe he’ll like one of the girls so that he can stop chasing after women who are taken.

At Julia’s shower—tequila rounds for the ladies. They all clap and shout after Brenda suggests they all toast the bride-to-be.

Alejo arrives at Brenda’s house. Ringo advises him to stay away from Brenda, but Alejo insists that he is there for the party. Once inside, Brenda leads him in and tells the ladies that the main attraction has arrived. The music starts and Alejo comes in wearing a fireman’s suit (Oh, BOY!!). The ladies go wild (and so do I!) as he shakes his bootie. Ringo enters the kitchen for coffee and hears all the ruckus. When he asks for Alejo, the maid tells him that the screams are for Alejo…she didn’t know he was a stripper…and a good one a that! When Ringo enters to see what Alejo is doing, Brenda shouts that the other stripper has arrived. Alejo and the ladies cheer Ringo on, but Ringo begs off (aww chucks!) and Alejo continues his show. As everyone cheers Alejo on, Ringo looks longingly at Julia and she returns the look.

At the bachelor party, music is full blast as Pepe attempts to dance…and one of the lady’s paws Diego. Ivan tells Diego that he shouldn’t drink too much since he has the fight with Ringo soon. When Oso chides Rafa for drinking, Rafa balks at him for trying to be a father to him. Ivan tries to get Diego to leave with him, but Turco insists that Diego stay; so, Ivan opts to leave though Diego stays. After he leaves, Turco shouts that the “cop” is gone and now the party can really start!

Ivan bumps into Manuel outside and reproaches him for sending his daughter to investigate the transfer of the company shares. Manuel thinks Eva should have what is rightly hers…Eva is very intelligent and she will find out the truth.

Ep 12, Part 3: Party Night

Gloria has a fit because Turco isn’t answering her calls. She thinks about calling Ringo but then wonders what the heck she is doing. changes her mind.

Aa Julia’s party finishes, Ivan arrives. He sees that the ladies have had one too many drinks and tells them they should go to bed. As he helps them to their bedrooms, Julia tells Ivan that he loves him very much but she also hates everything he is…a bully, ambitious, and calculating (SPOT ON!)

Brenda enters her bedroom and is surprised to see Alejo there; he wants his payment for his services. Though Brenda is tired, payment starts with a strong lip lock.

Once the bachelor party ends, Oso sits alone when Rosa enters. She asks to stay there since she doesn’t want to go home alone. Oso tells her that Rafa is already sleeping there. Rosa is glad Rafa is there…and she has been thinking about what Oso said…she does see him as a man.

Outside, Turco tries to get Diego to go with his little party animals, but Diego prefers to call a taxi.

Ringo goes back into the kitchen for some water. When Julia enters for some water too, he helps her get a glass of water; she wonders what she would do without him. Ringo sees that she is tipsy and offers to take her to bed. Julia laughs…and tells him that he has always been there to help ever since the first day they met…does he know that he changed her life?

Thank you Alexander.

JAN 6 IT IS.

Thanks for the info, Alexander!

It looks like we could have some new novelas late Jan. early Feb? Sure hope so.

RINGO

Thanks for your very fine recap, RgvChick. I didn’t see much last night except for Alejo shaking his butt in passing and it is too early for it to be OnDemand, so I really needed it. “Cray cray” fits Brenda perfectly.

I know I have said it a million times but I HATE double episodes even as a viewer and feel it is quite presumptuous for a network to think a viewer has all of that time to spend on their particular production like it is SO good you don’t mind spending an extra hour of your evening watching. They should know that many an evening one hour seems to be too much, Well, my rant is over. : )

My Xmas baking is over, the kitchen is back to normal and it is time to make some coffee as I get going here. Have a good one, everyone!

RINGO

Rgv Chick, this was so engrossing I read it from start to finish. Your ability to capture every scene perfectly and the way you convey the action is incredible. I thought your recap was sensational!

“Julia tells Ivan that he loves him very much but she also hates everything he is…a bully, ambitious, and calculating (SPOT ON!)” mirrored my thoughts exactly! She sees her father as he truly is.

“Damasio brags that he has a lot of contacts and can help Ringo…” Umm, really? I hope he’s not blowing smoke.

In one way, I was happy you recapped this episode. I did not understand that the sponsor had backed out and would have been lost out of the gate. However, your getting the bachelorette party made me a bit envious! Arturo Carmona is quite the man. I hope he had as much fun filming as we had watching! Now, Ringo is pretty fine himself but neither he (nor Turco) could compete with Alejo’s those magnificent muscles. Huge sigh. “Though Brenda is tired, payment starts with a strong lip lock”. Can we blame her??

Several thoughts about the dueling parties. I really like Ringo’s posse! Pepe was getting his groove on as were Gauchin and Rafa. Even though Pepe was rather “exuberant” none of them looked silly. Not easy for a bunch of guys dancing around. Conversely, Julia needs new friends. Seriously. Except for Eva, a nasty, catty bunch. While I wish Rosa hadn’t showed up as Heidi, the mean girls really had their claws out. And I felt for poor Eva watching her crush be the center of attention. Hopefully, she will transfer her affections to Max.

And finally, “Oso sits alone when Rosa enters. She asks to stay there since she doesn’t want to go home alone. Oso tells her that Rafa is already sleeping there. Rosa is glad Rafa is there…and she has been thinking about what Oso said…she does see him as a man”. Seeing this, Rosa did seem a bit dreamy eyed, so were her comments about Oso or Rafa?? If Oso, Judy certainly called that one right!

Carrizo. Shut. Up.

And I keep forgetting to comment that Alberto Estrella is in this too. He is one of my favorites – his “Mario” in Pasion was divine. But his villain in La Malquerida will always stay with me (the worst I’ve ever seen). I wonder when he will show up.

Niecie, glad your baking is done!

Rgv Chick, thank you, thank you!

Nihan imagines herself with Kemal, the seagulls singing. They kiss and stand on a dome overlooking the city. Nihan finds herself in a hospital room. Leyla asks what she’s thinking about, and nihan answers that Kemal left her tonight, to get engaged with Asu and begin another life. She says thatbjust breathing causes her pain. She asks Leyla how she will be able to forgive herself. She gets no answer and tears up.

Vildan and Onder find Zeynep. She cries and says that Ozan was arrested. She then cries to Kemal and he retorts “You tried escaping. What do you think would happen?” Meanwhile Emir is calling Onder and asks the same question. Onder asks if he knows anything about Nihan.

Asu sits in Kemal’s car, waiting for him to come out of the courthouse. She’s on the phone with Tufan, who tells her that Ozan is now arrested for trying to escape, and that the firearm was discovered by the police. Asu realizes that Emir wanted the gun to frame him, and that somehow it was registered in Ozan’s name.

Ozan the dumb nut is begging his parents to protect Zeynep and his son. He’s being led out of he courthouse by guards. Kemal asks Ozan if Emir asked them to runaway. Ozan thinks back to his deal with Emir, and says no. Kemal then asks Zeynep who else knew about it. She says no one. Kemal tells her not to dare tell him another lie, or he’ll abandon her this instant. She lies and says Tariq helped them.

Ozan is taken into a prisoners van and the media is going crazy over it. They ask Vildan and Onder how they plan to help their son. Both ignore the questions and drive away. Tariq is spying and texts Emir, asking what will happen now.

Nihan takes off her IV and Leyla is asking what she’s doing. Nihan says she’s not planning to stay at the hospital. Emir doesn’t bother himself to stop her. Leyla tells her it’s all done anyway, there’s nothing she can do about Ozan. Nihan reproaches Emir for not saying anything about that matter. The doctor comes in and tells her that she’s simply weak. When Emir steps out, Nihan asks the Dr about the pregnancy test. The Dr claims that the results came back negative.

Meanwhile Emir stands outside the room and is thinking back to moments earlier, when he spoke to the Dr. Nihan is pregnant. Emir requests the Dr not to tell Nihan about it, which the Dr at first refused, but is eventually coaxed into not saying anything. Emir claims he will tell her the next day, and brings up the fact that her brother was arrested, so he doesn’t want her to receive this news tonight.

Kemal and Zeynep walk out of the courthouse. They get into the car with Asu, who asks if Ozan will be taken to prison. Zeynep confirms and starts fake crying. Asu shows her sympathy, and Kemal drives them home.

Hussein, Fehime and Tariq are home in the living room. Hussein asks Tariq what’s going to happen. Tariq says Ozan will be in custody, depending on the judge’s orders. Fehime pities her daughter, and Hussein claims Zeynep will now spend her pregnancy alone.

Nihan and Emir are driving home. Emir is on the phone with his attorney (?). Nihan asks “Wasn’t the gun missing?” Emir replies that there’s one registered in Ozan’s name. Nihan demands to know if Emir planned all of this. He replies that Tariq is the one who was helping the lovebirds escape. Emir adds that the people responsible for Ozan’s fate are her and Vildan, because the more they tried to separate Ozan from Zeynep, the more obsessed he became with her. Their coddling led Ozan to make this stupid mistake. “I’m sorry, but it’s your fault,” he says. Nihan claims “Something else is happening though.” Emir claims that the extortioner is behind all this. He gets an alien phone call from his father, but pretends it’s the extortioner. He yells into the phone that he made a grave mistake and now it’s Emir’s turn to attack. Meanwhile Galip is confused and asked what he’s talking about. Emir continues with his threats and hangs up. Galip laments “Good god, what are you doing?” He’s in the backseat of a car.

Asu walks into the entrance of her apartment building and finds Tufan waiting for her. He says he wanted to witness her happiness. She says that today is the exception. Tufan tells her not to kid herself, because Nihan is the star of the show, even today she was the main event. He says “Kemal will never love you, not the way that I do.” Asu frankly says that she doesn’t love him back. She gets into the elevator and he says that she’ll be spending her time alone. Asu claims that “Solitude will always be with me.” The elevator closes and Tufan starts laughing in an exasperated manner.

Kemal is home, interrogating Zeynep. “Tell me how Emir and Tariq are involved in this.” Zeynep maintains that Emir has nothing to do with this. Kemal doesn’t believe her and asks if she recited that response. Soon Tariq confronts Kemal that same night. Kemal tells him his theory: Emir planted a trap and he tricked Tariq, while Zeynep conspired with Emir against Ozan. Tariq defends himself, Zeynep and Emir. Zeynep pretends to be offended. Kemal asks Tariq who gave them the passports. At first Tariq said it was none of his business, but then he blurts out a name. He takes Zeynep to the Soydere home. Kemal watches them leave, and immediately calls Zehir after. He gives him the name of the person who made the fake passports. He wants to know if this person exists. After that he calls Salih, requesting him to investigate a fishing boat.

Meanwhile Nihan is asking her parents how Ozan got the money to escape. Onder claims that Ozan has a fund, he probably took it from there. Vildan feels sorry that Ozan did this to himself. Onder says that earlier that day, Ozan had told him that he wanted to prove himself to everyone.

Emir is meeting up with Asu. He walks up to her car and opens her door so that she can get out. She’s scared, but follows him. They enter the house and visit Mujan. Emir is at her mother’s side and blankly asks “Have you wondered who she loves less?”
“Me. She came back to save you” she replies.
“Is that why you hate me?”
“I grew up to hate you” she confesses.
“Would things be different if we had grown up together?”
“I’ll never be your sister” she says.
“Is it easier to be my enemy?” He asks.
Asu kisses Mujan and says goodnight to her. Emir blurts our hat Nihan is expecting. Asu stops in her tracks. “Destiny is putting me in the same steps as my father.” Asu asks if thats the reason Nihan fainted. She sits down on the bed. Emir says “I can’t do it. It doesn’t matter what I do I cannot end with their love. I’m not that strong.”

Galip is watching everything from outside. He puts the pieces together and calls a minion to order him to search for Hakki Alacahan.

Kemal is sitting outside his house. He’s fiddling with the engagement ring. Nihan approaches. He doesn’t want to look her in the face, but he says “There are so many voices in my head. Just thinking about tonight, I don’t understand what happened. My head is exploding. Emir is like a virus, destroying everything.”
Nihan says “Calm down. This night I lost a lot.” Kemal mentions Ozan and Nihan raises her voice, asking “Was it worth it?” He puts his hand on her arm, to stop her from getting closer. She notices the ring. He tells her he doesn’t plan to listen to her anymore. Nihan doesn’t care and tells him “You know you’ve hurt me. You got your revenge now, is this what you wanted? Answer me! You said you wouldn’t feel pain, but are you really feeling nothing? Doesn’t it hurt a bit?” She’s looking at him. He remains calm and says “You can leave now.” Nihan says “So that’s my response.” She walks away, trying not to cry.

Emir and Asu are still with Mujan. “I’m a ball of fire, I don’t care if the whole world collapses. I feels somethings in throat that’s holding me tight and doesn’t let me go” he says. Asu is listening, looking a little teary. Emir comments that Nihan will now be a mother. Asu stays quiet for a bit but eventually says “You need to get rid of that baby. If you don’t do it now, they’ll be tied forever.” Emir coldly says “I have no other alternative.”

Ozan is being led to his cell. He’s starting to look unwell. The guard asks him if he’s ok, and Ozan starts begging to be released, claiming he’ll die in there. The guard says “Stop acting like a little girl, the judge gave the order, now go in there.” He orders Ozan to enter the room with the rest of the inmates. Ozan steps in and they all welcome him, but he stands there speechless. He starts panicking and hits the metal door, asking to be released. He cries out for Nihan, he wants her to save him. The man in a red shirt goes up to him and asks him to calm down.

Onder enters Nihan’s room. She says she wishes to know how Ozan is doing. Onder hopes that he’s doing fine. Nihan asks if she can see him tomorrow. Onder says the attorney is in charge of that. Nihan says that perhaps after tonight, Ozan will get accustomed to prison. She says they will have to take his pillow tomorrow. Onder says it’s fine.

Tariq claims that all he needed was one minute. If he had known that the police was coming, he would have driven off with them. Banu says that it’s ok, there’s no way he would have known. She asks if he wants to postpone the wedding. Tariq says no: they are to get married tomorrow, because he can’t live without her. He holds her in an embrace and she says “Okay, my love.”

Zehir calls Kemal and says “The man exists, but he didn’t make any business with Tariq. Your brother is lying to you.” Kemal asks if perhaps someone else there made the transaction. Zehir says he asked around and no one knows anything.

Nihan is asleep and Onder lays the blanket over her.

Asu is out on her balcony, looking at her ring. She seems dissatisfied and stares out at the skyline.

Emir still sits next to his mother. He’s sleeping.

The next day, Nihan drives to the seaside. She notices caution tape all over the area. She enters the property anyway. She finds Kemal there, who’s looking at a notice. She asks what he’s doing there. Kemal claims that this is where the firearm was found. She says she didn’t ask him that, but rather what he’s doing here. Kemal says that this is all a trap, especially with the two accusations back to back. Nihan claims this is all a montage by the extortioner. He asks if she really thinks that. Nihan says that she does, but does it matter what she thinks? Kemal tells her not to confuse the circumstances with their other problems, but she doesn’t care and tells him to leave. “You started this tragedy,” she says. Kemal firmly looks at her and says “You started it all when you trusted Emir. It won’t be easy to free yourself from him, but it’s your responsibility.” He walks out of there. She watches him leave, but then turns around to think of her next move.

Diana, no problem! I knew who you meant. Nice and sunny and cold here. Looks like a good day. No snow! Yay!

AMOR ETERNO

Hey Nina,

I can’t stand Asu either. I think she’s dumb, because why on earth would she tell her rival that the reason Kemal is marrying her is because of Nihan’s rejection of him? She makes herself look more pitiful than she has to!

Nett, I forgot to answer the question regarding Asu saying Zeynep’s baby isn’t Emir’s. None of the characters actually know who the father of the baby is, not even Zeynep. Asu simply made that comment to deflect the pressure off her, since she knew Kemal would go on a witch hunt for it. Perhaps she also got some form of revenge on Zeynep for having set her up to meeting Emir. Either way, Asu made sure to use the opportunity to make Nihan look guilty. She doesn’t want Kemal to know that she’s Emir’s sister, because he would never marry her knowing that fact. Fehime would likely not want her as her in law if she found out too.

RINGO

Thanks for another great one, RGV CHICK. Liked your observation on this:

Alejo wonders why the change in her attitude (uhmm, because she’s cray-cray!); so, Brenda replies that that is just the way she is.

And yeah, I'm just raunchy enough to have enjoyed every little minute of Alejo's number. I think those stripper numbers are a hoot. But did not like the bedroom scene. That looked like sexual assault to me. Brenda was very drunk, very tired, said she didn't want to, and he just plowed right on. Not good Alejo. Especially for a lawyer! Jeez.

Cultural differences I guess. But that would not play well here.

Thanks RGV CHICK. And I agree totally with Jarifa's rant about double episodes. Nobody has that kind of time to spare, especially around the holidays. I know guys can sit for hours watching sports. But that is not the case with most women. We have too much to do around the house, or need to pop out for more groceries, visit a convalescing friend, or babysit. Staying parked in front of the TV is not an option. And apart from hormonal differences, that may be the reason women live longer than men. We're definitely getting "more steps in" during the day.

OT..judy there Was a chapter in the reading textbook I used in class that stated that at birth, baby girls are programmed to live 7 years longer than baby boys . Biology

RINGO

Thank you, Diana, Jarifa and JudyB. I think we all enjoyed Alejo's moves...best part of the episode so I'm glad you got to see it, Jarifa! I would never have thought that Alejo would agree to stripping; he must really be head over heals for Brenda (what is wrong with him!).

I do have to say that the dialog at the bachelor party was everywhere and, though I tried to write it in a way that it made sense, it just came out as choppy as it was in the episode.

Diana, "Julia needs new friends." The only friends she has are Eva (her cousin) and Rosa (whom she just met). She seems like she could be everyone's best friend, so where are they? Those at the party seemed to be closer to Brenda than to Julia.

Turco and Ringo remind me of my roosters who try to take claim on the hens. All I'm waiting for is for those neck "feathers" to spread right before they go at each other. Sheesh!

Judy, you are so right about the time crunch during the holidays; so many things to do and people to see...before, during and after! Diana and I will try our best to do what we can next week, but we are not going to go all out or stress about it. The discussion pages will go up as usual and "que será, será!"

RINOG

Oh and Diana, when Rosa said that "she does see him as a man" she was definitely referring to OSO! So yes, Judy hit that nail!

"You started it all when you trusted emir. It won't be easy to free yourself from him, but it's your responsibility".
He is so right. All she had to do was trust kemal more. But she's always trying to fix stuff and makes a mess.
And here comes kemal to the rescue. He
Has been rescuing her from the first episode until he got sick of doing it.
It's gonna take a miracle to get these
Two back together starting tonight. I
Did not like that preview I saw.

"Asu tells big bro "You've got to get
Rid of that baby".
Emir,"I have no alternative". Wow, the
Two them are could be evil twins. It is so important to have people that can't stand the sight of them. Life is
To short to be wasting time taking from other people and wanting somebody that Don't want you. Asu n emir have
Issues with possessing things that he
Or she shouldn't have. This Wont end well. When it gets to this point death
Is imanent. But for who? I don't like
Love stories like this they don't end
Well. And usually for the happy couple
I hope not this time. Just get rid of
Emir already.

The 3rd season starts January 6th. So we get a 2 week break.
Yaaah Merry Christmas! And Happy New Year!

Kemal's last words burned through her
Soul. She is on her on. Until kemal can figure some things out that is.

Ozan is right where he needs to be.
He didn't kill anybody. On purpose any
Way. But its time for babyboy to grow up. And no nihan don't need to take him his little pillow. One thing emir said to her that's true, it's her and onders fault that He is the way he is they coddled him, his whole life. He's A little boy that never grew up. Maybe he will now. If thats what emir was talkin about. We can see Galip didn't coddle him, or anything else looking
Like love.

Thank you AnonFri.

RINGO

Diana and Rgv Chick, thanks a bunch. I'm all caught up. Here, Here! to JudyB's advice for you both to get some R&R from recaps during next week's holiday double headers. This humble commenter will join in posting bullets.

Yay, loved Alejo getting his Magic Mike on.

Rosa sees Oso as a man? Ay, that was an awkward scene for me to watch. I'm thinking Rosa is just confused. She's had it tough trying to make it on her own, and now she's enjoying a man looking out for her. But I'm not feeling the romance between these two.

Alberto Estrella is coming? Squee! Diana, he's one of my favorite villains. But if he'll be a nice guy here, that's fine too.

Congrats to JudyB for calling it on Oso and Rosa earlier. Not to my liking but, hey, that is the plot. Sorry to think Oso could turn into an old fool. Yuck!
