TELEMUNDO Y MÁS (#1): La Doña (special edition), El Señor de los Cielos 7, y más: Week of December 23, 2019

Welcome to Page #1 (Monday edition) of the Telemundo y Más page, issued twice a week: Mondays and Thursdays at 8:00 PM.

Here are the current evening telenovelas (all times are Eastern Standard Time):

• 9-10PM—La Doña***
• 10-11PM—El Señor de los Cielos 7***

***OK amig@s, I have to confess: I don't know what Telemundo will be offering (or not offering) this week. The network abruptly yanked El Sultán out from under us last Friday but then indicated on their website's calendar that it would appear this Wednesday at 3 AM (no, that's not a misprint, at least not my misprint). According to the calendar, it will also appear this Thursday and Friday at 3:30 AM, and Saturday (!) at 3 AM. However, Zap2It, which usually (but not always) has reliable information, lists none of that. Nor does the Guide on my Comcast-powered TV. So your guess is as good as mine.

And speaking of guesses, what's up with the second season of La Doña? Telemundo announced that it would run a "special edition" this Monday, Dec. 23, at 9 PM. But its website now says that La Doña will run at 9 PM all week, except for Tuesday, when all telenovelas are being pre-empted by movies. Has Telemundo advanced the schedule, or are they offering an abridged version of season 1 for those who never saw or can't remember season 1?  [UPDATE: Yes, it's an abridged version of season 1 that will apparently run for at least two weeks. La Doña2 is still set to begin on January 13.]  As for Decisiones, it's not a telenovela, and since CarayCaray is devoted to telenovelas, Decisiones will  not be listed here.

Everyone is welcome to join in the conversation.  Since discussions of all the Telemundo novelas share the same page, please remember to put the name of the telenovela you're referring to at the top of your post, so readers can easily find the conversations they're looking for.

By common agreement, this group DOES NOT discuss previews, trailers, or any other plot information not found in a current or past episode of the current production. Spoilers WILL be removed by the admin. This includes reference to earlier productions of the story, and even the original novel. Thanks for your cooperation!

Just a reminder that Telemundo is presenting what it calls a "special edition" of La Doña tonight at 9pm (and repeated, I think, at midnight). I thought at first that it was a 1-day thing, but according to Telemundo's website, La Doña will be on at 9 pm all week (except tomorrow, when all the novelas will be preempted by movies). I'm not sure whether this "special edition" will be an abridged version of season 1 or a change in the schedule (La Doña2 was supposed to start January 13).

I finished the second video on youtube from here,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_84Q5ecD9lg

the title is "Magnificent Century Episode 11 | English Subtitle HD",

what I do is change the episode number in the title to search for the next one, but so far they have been on that page.

OK, so it turns out that the "special edition" of La Doña is a much abridged version of season 1. Apparently season 2 will still begin on January 13, as announced previously, but they'll be offering this abridged version of season 1 to prepare viewers for season 2. It's the same thing they did before La Reina del Sur2 began: they ran an abridgement of Reina1 for several weeks. I'm finding it helpful, even though I saw season 1.

"ESDLC":

Dondi356: Castillo is going to find out Jaime & BPN whacked Mayra. Only a matter of time....

1.) Dalvio & Tata crack me up. Especially Tata as the MIL from Hell giving Nurse Chick a hard time.

2.) El Chema plotting to escape from prison. Let's see if it'll work.

3.) More strategic planning from the Casillas family.

4.) Angela getting the talk from Super Javi & Andrea. I do NOT think it'll be the last time we'll see Angela snorting cocaine & other drugs.

5.) Jaime talking to BPN on the phone. He better hope Berenice doesn't overhear anything incriminating.

6.) Yes: Berenice still has no damn clue Jaime whacked Mommy Amuhada.

7.) El Capo still not brought down yet. He has like 800+ lives LOL.

8.) Joaquin & Violeta getting into a typical argument.

9.) Violeta calls El Capo (who is pissed off at Joaquin).

10.) El Capo & Evelina living it up.

11.) Amado & Diana need a spin-off badly. Telemundo are you listening ?

12.) Rutila is still hot.

13.) Izzy & Nurse Chick are also amazing.

14.) Dona Alba & El Pepque & the kids still at one of those mansions.

15.) Navarro got done with his freaky escapade with Amaranta.

16.) Valdes speaks with Ambar on upping the ante even further with a massive caravan.

The Axis of Evil still plotting more chaos.

17.) Colonel Alvaro is NOT to be trusted. I think he's going to cave into working with the Axis of Evil.

18.) Jaime goading Castillo with insults & jabs about the late Mayra.

19.) Amado calls Navarro about inquiring more information.

20.) Castillo, Carla & Co., likely found Mayra's body & her personal effects. Just wait until Castillo finds out Jaime & BPN whacked her.

My Telemundo is running 2 hours of it from 3 to 5 am on Wednesday. I don't know what ran yesterday because I think I tuned in too late. I'm pretty sure a movie ran on Monday.

I wish Telemundo would run the rest of El Final this way or online. These shows could run back to back.

The English captions seem to be off and Zap2it will air it 3:30 to 5 am Thurs. and Fri.

I checked every day of Zap2it and Sultan has a very erratic weekday and weekend schedule. Movies run instead 2-3 days next week.

Well, even though Comcast didn't list it in its Guide, the representative I spoke with suggested setting the DVR to record the Wednesday at 3 am time slot (which is when Telemundo indicated that El Sultán would be broadcast. I did that, and this morning I checked. Nope, no luck. Also, I've just checked Zap2It again, and at least for the West Coast (which is where I am), there was still NO mention of El Sultán. I checked for Thursday and Friday at all hours. Nada. MCM, I don't know where you live. It's possible that there may be a showing on the East Coast, but nothing out here, in spite of what Telemundo's calendar indicated.

Oh well, at least the abridged version of La Doña will continue for at least this week and next, and perhaps the week after as well. I haven't yet seen listings for that week. Season 2 of La Doña is still set to begin on January 13. FWIW, even though I saw season 1, I'm finding the abridged version quite helpful in reminding me of what happened. It's disconcerting to see how much I've forgotten.

Juanita, DirecTV recorded the episode at 12:30 AM California time. It recorded on Telemundo East, Ch. 406 on my DirecTV lineup, and I presume it was shown on the East Coast at 3:30 AM. I was not in bed yet and watched the very beginning. It began where the last epi they showed left off; i.e., people in the palace realizing that there was a fire where the children were. I didn't watch any more of it, but it's there and my DirecTV guide shows it recording tomorrow, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Then again early next week.

This is just massively weird. Are there more Turkish immigrants on the East Coast and thus better ratings? In checking my guide I found that the local Telemundo Channel, 48 in my area, is not showing El Sultán at all. So this explains why Juanita could not record it from Comcast.

I will be watching each episode because I'm hooked, but I can't see any point in recapping.

I'd be curious to know if folks actually ON the East Coast got it on their local channel.

Thanks VERY much, novelera, for this information. I agree, it's all bizarre. I've pretty much given up on El Sultán. I did try about 2 hours of episodes in Turkish with English captions on YouTube. If I were interested primarily in the story, that might be a good way to continue, but though the story interests me, I really want to hear Spanish. The beauty of telenovelas has been that they offer Spanish AND (often) a good story.

I'm now watching the abridged version of La Doña1 to refresh my memory, with the intention of probably watching La Doña2 starting January 13.

"ESDLC":

Juanita: Good Morning. How was your Christmas ?

1.) Rutila needs to put her foot down when it comes to Super Javi, Angela (who's becoming annoying) & that druggie Andrea.

2.) El Capo & Ojeda need to go down sooner or later.

3.) Dalila needs to go down too.

4.) Colon & Corina making out AGAIN.

5.) I think El Chema is going to escape from prison.

6.) No appearance from Mexican President Gomez Labrador.

LA DONA

LA DONA LA DONA!!! YEA!!!!!

I AM SO 'DOWN' with it!!!

see you later...!!!!

Sultan - Telemundo

Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season.

I am thoroughly confused with the schedule for this show. Depending on the program guide, I have Sultan at 8pm tonight, 3:30 am tomorrow or not at all. I get TV stations OTA. Is there a difference in TV providers? Maybe it’s just location?

Since some on the west coast are getting it at 3:30 am, I will set to record at that time and see what happens tonight. It wasn’t on local in NYC at 12:30 am. We had repeats of La Doña and El Señor from 12 – 2 am. I didn’t stay up past that but the schedule said paid programming until El Clon at 4 am.

To add to the confusion, Telemundo Now has uploaded episode #17 air date 12/25/19, skipping over episode #16. Episode 17 has Spanish subs only, no English.

dondi, as you know, I share your confusion. Today I thought I'd try to call Telemundo to see whether anyone there could shed light on the situation. Hah! One phone number listed was no longer in service, and another listed a bunch of programs to choose from, but as far as I could tell, telenovelas were not among them. So much for customer service. :-(

I also tried Telemundo Now, which I recall using several years ago to see programs on my computer the day after they were aired on TV. El Sultán was among them. The episode listed was Episode 17. Spanish subtitles were available. So I tried to watch the episode, but every few seconds it would stop for a while for buffering. This happened so frequently that I gave up. I tried another browser, but it had the same problem.

Anyway, I'm not going to continue trying to watch El Sultán. I'm turning my attention to the helpful abridgement of season 1 of La Doña that Telemundo is showing every weekday at 9 PM and again at midnight. And then, starting January 13, I'll probably watch season 2. I hope some of you will join me.
