El Dragon #81, 1/17/20: Crossroads to Redemption--The Pig Gets Put In the Poky
- This capítulo's highlight is that Miguel manages with Hector's help to frame Epigmenio for the mass of mafia murders as well as covering up Natie's murder, trafficking in illicit drugs, the dance club massacre that killed Helena, Hector's sister, and the "home invasion" at los Garza, DF. (amongst other things)
- During an elaborate plan to attack Pig at the cemetery where he's been encouraged to kidnap Dora and Jorge (at Chisca's grave), Edna has Gary hot on the trail and the Federales arrive to arrest Pig and take him to prison--just as Miggy was to jump out of a coffin at a rigged ceremony. Plan B and/or C must be put into place instead.
- Pig is taken to prison and treated to a guest stay in solitary. He gripes to his wife and to his wife's lawyer.
- Poor Edna has to admit that she's always been a dollar short and a dia too tarde when it comes to tracking and capturing Miguel Garza in a crime. He's just way too smart and clean. Once she learns that Pig is in the pokey for real, she lets Carmen go free. Edna has tried to get her way to Pig through her wife who left a shoe of hers at the rancho from which they all had to escape when Federales came a'callin'. Once she learns that Pig is in the poky for real, she lets Carmen go free and she feels her luck is changing. Can Garza's arrest be close at hand?
- Ishi's fingerprint has been found on the car Gary remembers following him the day Kenia was murdered. The burn job on that car wasn't as clean as it should have been. Ishi wants to turn himself in. Mig won't allow it. He's part of the family. He has another plan.
- Flaco is able to work some magic and make it look like a lot of money transferred into certain fake accounts (Mig's probably) in the U.S. and was from bribe money she took. Howard is now commanded to arrest her for fraud. He's going nuts cuz she's been a good colleague and friend of his for years now.
- Carmen tries to make nice with Adela. Why? Does she really consider her her only friend??? "Ugh!!"
- Mig listens to the old tape of his father Ade found in Don Lamberto's office's air vent. He suspects it due to some odd noises and has Flaco check if it's been pieced together. Flaco gets back to him with a definite yes. The tape is a Frankenstein style masterpiece.
- Pig gets a visitor one day in prison. It's none other than Miguel Garza himself - live and in the flesh. It's payback time, Bushido style.

The Edna thing is just too far. Ishiro shows much more Samurai honor and dignity saying he slipped up and will pay the price, what is fair is fair. Mr. "Have my cake and yours, and anybody else's I might fancy" decides to use his unbelievable cerebral horsepower to destroy a woman who has dedicated decades of her life fighting crime.
To add insult to injury, Edna just recently discovered she is / was not married to who she thought she was and loved.
When is enough enough for Adela? Mig, keep that coffin around, I betcha you are going to need it.
ePIGhead showed Mrs ePig just how much she is valued and loved telling Carmen something to the effect that either she get him a pack of smokes or he would have her killed. Ah, true love ways.
Kirby, I agree that Mig is very entitled and arrogant. What's mine is mine and what's yours is mine. How cavalier. ADela must just be blinded by his looks. ..not my cup of tea, but...whatever. Edna is obsessed, but she really is just doing her job. Why does Mig feel justified in his revenge plan against her ? Not the sign of a man of honor.
30 here and snowed a bit. Winter..ugh.
I truly fear for Ishiro now. The only way I can see him escaping is getting in a private plane to Europe where he would have to stay.
I can't believe that Carmen the Sow doesn't still have it in for Adela.
Jorge's karma for betraying Miguel is going to be the madness he will have for the rest of his life. I think Peligros is right about that.
When this is over I'm taking a rest from recapping, but I will watch Rubi.
Looking at what they supposedly pulled off to frame Edna, it would have been far easier to simply slip in and destroy the evidence wouldn't it?
I want to see Dora walk in one morning and discover that Jorgito has begun to actually eat his own fingers.
If Flaco could hire himself a couple of good remorseless killers, I think he could give Mig a run for his money. And without Flaco, Mig is almost powerless except for banging and bopping Bimbos.
While there is still time we should discretely email Flaco and tell him.
:-)
Maybe we ought to consider Mig's definition of traitor or betrayer. All those cartel heads who traded him in for e-Pig, took away some serious business from him. Jimena, OTOH was just being Jimena, out for herself and just stole a bit of money. No biggy for Miggy?
I'm happy that Flaco is figuring out the tape was doctored. I wanted the Mig to know that his father was NOT a traitor to the family before he needs the coffin for himself or he rides off into the sunrise of another season.
EPig is the one Mig should exact vengeance on totally. Hard to do it inside of prison, other than make sure his life is made miserable--no smokes, no phone, no conjugal visits, no pillow, no soap.
Ishiro is now my priority. He needs to be saved (just because I think he's been a real cool guy--he even donned blue jeans for a couple of scenes). His code of honor won't let hin be able to live with himself, so what is next for him. It's only a CrockPot Theory, but if Ishiro insists on turning himself in, he would be in a perfect position to off the e-Pig. I just don't want it to happen that way.
Adela is a nincompoop if she thinks Carmen is still her best bud. She ought to have figured out that Carmen will blame her, directly or indirectly, for putting her husband in prison and is still out for a pint of blood. Sorry, but I don't really care what happens to Adela. She's only been a love-toy hanger on since she renounced her very active role in Mig's capers, around the time they had the G-20 of drug cartel heads. I'd feel sorry for Granny, though, if she doesn't get to go live on that Fantasy Island (not that she'd agree to in any case) with Adela and Mig. They can play Telenovela Bingo and drink Te de Tila.
1. Carmen, when Epig sent her back to the house and ran for it, she sounded like she was going to say she should have listened to ... I fill in Adela here. So I think she is feeling Adela out to see if she can get out of dodge without having to worry about Epig trying to kill her, which is what he said he would do if she tried to leave. She wants to make sure the contact Epig talked about can’t get to her. As far as wanting to kill Adela. She ain’t the wife of a mafioso now, he is a man behind bars. And Carmen has always been good about looking out for number 1, herself. So she will use Adela as far as she can. She figured, i am sure that it is owed her for being tricked.
Edna, yes she is honorable, and prob with some digging get off because either she will say it was her husband, or there will be no further profs. But that will be left for next season. This is Miguel’s way as he told Ishiro, attack first. His way of letting her know that if she goes after his, the way she did. He will go after her. He could have done this a long time ago. But it was cat and mouse to him. He was always a step ahead. But he is also bitter about them getting to Epig first. He told her that they had the same objective in regards to the country, but she could t let him be. So in his logic, she will pay.
The audio tape. I love it because we were just talking about it in yesterday’s chat and it was one of the few last loose ends to wrap up. Howard being the other. Flaco made quick work of the tape, deciphering it’s various origins. Now Miguel just had to figure out who did it. And it looks like he got the bullseye on the first shot.
Also, except that he went underground, Epi and Miguel are the only ones who know that he was set up because everyone else thinks that he did in fact kill all the mob bosses. So Miguel is kind of off of that type of radar. Though Edna is expecting him to show up somewhere after trying to flush out Ishiro.
I think implementing Edna in the mess might be enough to discredit her arrests and investigations. Maybe even setting Epigmenio free on technicalities. And give Miguel enough time to get business set up to run it off the island.
The only loose end we have now is Howard. Will he just stop after Edna goes down? Realize he is in over his head? Or since it is personal, will he keep trying to get him.
Anyways, my two cents on that Friday night episode. Now I am super interested in how they end it, and what they leave open for a potential season 3.
I'm so disappointed Mig didn't get the chance to pop out of the coffin and freak out Epig. As Mig pointed out to Hector, Epig will buy his way out of prison in short order.
I hate Ishiro being in danger. Hope he makes it back to Japan. He stands out too well in Mexico, so I think he'll have to leave the country to stay free.
I'm thinking Edna is shrewd enough to convince her superiors that she's been set up because she's gotten results cleaning up organized crime.
Ya know, I am not sure I have ever seen an Ante.
Is it a noun? I think it is a gerund but where is the ing.?
Likewise , infinitives are verbs that you add " to" in front of and change them into nouns. ( Example ...I love to swim . I love what ? I love to swim. The verb is " love" the object ( noun) is " to swim"
P.s. Autocorrect evidently does not know about gerunds because it keeps turning that word into " refunds. " grrrrr
Sorry..I have taught grammar for a long time time. I can't resist.
Jardinera, thank you so much for your recap...and for forging on through the entire show. We're so close to the end with one more episode to go; how on earth will they wrap up all the lose ends. And I cannot believe that Migster is going to allow Dora, Jorge and Jimena off without some type of payback.
The way Ishiro glared at Jorge at the cemetery, I am wondering if Ishiro will try something...but naah, they probably don't have enough time for that.
Kirby, ITA agree about Adela. How could she, with good conscience, go off to live happily ever after on that island which will actually be a hideaway for Migster. She was feisty and had her moments before, but I always looked forward to what she had to say especially when she confronted Dora and Jimena. Now, it seems that everything she does and says is only to cater to Miguel and show her undying love for him...she doesn't even seem like the same girl anymore.
I understand everyone's arguments that Miguel is fighting for "the greater good" and that what he is doing is a type of "righteous judgement," but I still think that his methods and actions should not go without some type of punishment. Several innocent people were harmed or died because of his desire to acquire companies and other assets...and I cannot forget his comment that it was "just business."
Now Miguel is going after Edna, who by right, is just doing her job. She was swayed into using a questionable tactic ( which BTW failed) out of desperation, but other than that she has done everything by the book. Kirby stated it best, "The Edna thing is just too far. Ishiro shows much more Samurai honor and dignity saying he slipped up and will pay the price, what is fair is fair. Mr. "Have my cake and yours, and anybody else's I might fancy" decides to use his unbelievable cerebral horsepower to destroy a woman who has dedicated decades of her life fighting crime."
I feel for Ishiro too, and am glad that Miguel is taking care of him, but, again, Miguel is using someone who is innocent as means to that end.
Kirby, Flaco is extremely cautious and for security purposes he changes his email quite often. Here are some of the email addresses he has used, but they may not exist anymore:
elgenioflaco@lizardsrus.com
flaco_rules@miguelsan.com
meinsultas@dragonruls.com
"me insultas" (you insult me) is what Flaco responds when someone asks him to do something techie and they follow with "Can you do that?"
English grammar was so confusing to me. All I knew was what "sounded right," because in both English and Spanish, I had learned to speak "correctly," but couldn't say why. It wasn't until I got to high school and our 10th grade English teacher taught us to diagram sentences. It was like opening up a whole new world. Unfortunately, all is forgotten and I have reverted to what "sounds right."
New novelas.. Trejo and Flaca make a comedy like The Odd Couple...Trejo the neatfreak
and Flaca, well of course he’s the slob.
A bromance between Peligros and Ishiro...Peligros shows. Him how to get down in Mexico, and let loose.
Ishi, in turn, shows Peligros...how to maintain tranquility thru meditation...
Anon 2:46, those would make for interesting TNs. Season 4 could be about the Dragonflunky Club featuring Dora and Jorge as exotic dancers :-)
The email addresses for Flaco were great, Rgv Chick.
Does Mig confide to ePig that he has always 'liked' him now that he is going to have a lot of boyfriends?
Do Mig and Adel move to Gecko Island and put in solar and rent space to Harry and Meghan?
Does Peli stop shaving his head and start shaving his face?
Ishiro should just move back to Japan and get a job as a rikshaw driver.
Edna should somehow be able to lay it all off on Mauricio and retire.
Howeird Torpedo's wife gives him a blow up doll and a divorce then tries to marry an entire football team.
In moments of conjugal bliss on Gecko Island Mig begins to call Adel his dead girlfriend's names.
IIRC, Flaco mentioned one time that Mig had made them all millionaires. I hope he uses some of that money and at least gets a better apartment.
In the last episode, Mig thanked Peli, Isiro, Flaco and Trejo for being so loyal and that he considered them his "family." Well they'd better think hard about being part of that amoeba clan!Is Mig going to take them all to Gecko Island?? If he does, Adela will be the only female on there. Ay, Caray!!
That brings to mind, Peli has never been shown to be interested in a woman, right? There was a moment when I thought he was interested in Dora, but then it fizzled. Hmmmm...
But then he is in some ways so noble and selfless. His total, unwavering devotion to Miguel (for what?) and Chisca who, incidentally, had not earned any such devotion.
His stoic, monk like approach to life somehow makes him more likeable to me than arrogant ass show poodle Miguel.
10 More Hours.
Funny, I had a great grammar background thanks to 4-years of Latin. Luckily, it came in super handy later during my geotechnical engineering career.
The only thing I hated was that I was the one who usually peer reviewed others' engineering reports and found the lackadaisical and utterly ignorant writing style of others (especially younger engineers) so frustrating. By the time I finished reviewing a report, it was marked from top to bottom and left to right with so much red pen, one could hardly read the original text. Then the writer would have to correct the English and resubmit the report so I could finally review the important stuff—the engineering assumptions, opinions, and recommendations.
Susanlynn, how long has it been since you taught? Is English Grammar even taught nowadays? Or is it taught differently or is it just the laziness of many students that results in such atrocious grammar? My French daughter-in-law writes so much better than both my privately-educated kids, it's embarrassing!
I explained to them, that no matter how smart they were, nor how great an engineer they were, if they could not communicate their ideas to non-engineers, their immense cerebral power was almost useless.
The ones who stayed were, or became, great engineers.
I think they are going to kill off Adela to make Miguel pay for his arrogance.
Telling was in one of his last heated discussions with Ad where he finally said "You are right." and Adela had a look of satisfaction thinking he finally saw things her way.
UNTIL Mig finished with "You really DON'T know me."
Wow, proofreader remarks!!! I even had to teach writers what those meant, finally I gave out cheat sheets. However, a majority of really atrocious sentences were beyond salvaging.
If they kill off Adela, there will be no hope for a third season. Telemundo has had such success extending their popular telenovelas; it's a shame Televisa doesn't learn from them instead of regurgitating old telenovelas so unsuccessfully or just producing terrible new ones.
I'm passing on Rubí as it hasn't had favorable pre-reviews and the lead actress has been planned horribly; However, I'll definitely try Operación Pacífico, as that one sounds interesting.
OT...Victoria, they still teach grammar in schools, but not as intensely as we learned it . Our younger daughter teaches 6th grade language arts ( as it is now called.) I also have seen my granddaughters homework. My late brother in law was an English teacher who taught diagramming , but I don't think that is being taught much anymore. I am not surprised that your French DIL is good with grammar because I taught English to foreign students , and ESL teachers teach grammar in the very structured way that Americans used to learn it. I stopped teaching very abruptly a year ago after the sudden loss of my husband. He did all the computer work for my syllabi and grades , so I have not returned to teaching. Still just trying to get back on my feet.
from Dragon did a dance wearing an eye patch .
Kirby...my tablet and autocorrect are as wonky and out of it as I am lately.
Autocorrupt believes there is an epidemic of people who cannot spell a domestic waterfowl which quacks.
Anyway, I do not know what to expect tonight. I would like a happy ending, but somehow, I don't think we are going to get one. So call me pessimistic for tonight.
I don't think she'll get whacked, but it might be Edna, who could get the Ishiro treatment 🤔
