thanks Anita!
hmm, not sure why you couldn't find it, did you go to Telemundo.com, scroll down the page through the current shows, I just checked it to see what you missed, 2 things.
they haven't released anything on the fake mr. M, so Amalia goes to see Susana, asks for her source, nope, and lets her know she is being fooled, which insults her till she clarifies, they are both being fooled, let's work together.
Ped has that drink with Vargas, who thanks him for saving his life, and Ped remembers 3 guys came to kill him, all ex-cops, one worked with Vargas, and nails him, you tried to have me killed, yep, this dampens their drinking a bit, Vargas pays the bill, and as he's leaving says, now you have to prove it.
Greetings deb—thanks for putting the finishing touches on Friday’s episode. I thought for most of the recaps I was just talking to myself. If no one really needs a recap and just wants to comment, I’m very ok with this. It takes time and I’m committed to Rubi for the last few hours and helping recap Me Declaro Culpable.
I’ll keep watching Pacifico and check in regularly. It’s been fun.
Very brief recap.
In Jorge and Amalia's apartment, Jorge bitches and moans about Amalia having said in therapy that she wants a divorce. Lorenzo overhears.
Wilson calls Jorge and asks for 100 million pesos or Mariana will die. Jorge says he can only get together 30.
The assassin (one of the ones who tried to kill Pedraza?) is in the hospital and some fake doc switches what he's going to be injected with. He dies.
The lieutenant shows a picture of some guy to a young policeman who acts nervous. Sorry. Can't place the guy in the photo.
Jorge gives the money to Wilson, who tells him Mariana is in her apartment but only after he has his hands on the $$. She's tied up and gagged. Jorge unties her and she's veeeerrry grateful. They start to kiss and undress each other. But Amalia was on her way over, wanting to make up with her sister. She catches them and runs out of there.
Amalia is on her way to talk to her psychologist about this double betrayal. She's ignoring phone calls.
Jones and Pedraza arrive at ??? to look at security cameras. Sorry, I don't always know what's going on with this one.
When Amalia, very distraught gets out of her car, Tuerto is there. He shoots her with a tranq gun and loads her into the back of his vehicle.
Not sure how, but Pedraza and Jones are able to track her.
Rojas figures out Vargas' elevator trick. Hope he got a look at Señor M.
Jones and Pedraza get to the airport, but Tuerto forces the pilot to take off.
Tuerto gives Amalia's earrings to some narco girlfriend. Tuerto thinks those are the trackers.
The General has agreed to help out with military in Tumaco. And it looks like he goes into a locked cage and is taking out ransom money. Then the dumbest General in Latin American tells Vargas what's up. Vargas sends a fax to Señor M, who then calls Copete.
Tuerto is about to have his way with Amalia. Ugh.
Anita, I'm sorry I did not comment on your recap. I did catch up Friday night, but I spent the rest of the weekend in procrastinator's hell. Monday night was the local bookstore's monthly literary event. It's not exactly a book club because a very knowledgeable, PhD in Literature person discusses the novel. I needed to finish re-reading Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel García Márquez, a wonderful but dense novel. It's impossible to speed read this author. Each paragraph is a treasure. My original goal was to re-read it in Spanish, having read it in English in 1988. Well I would have had to start waaaay earlier.
Thanks novelera, but that still only makes three of us! I'm grateful you gave us the highlights. I tape it at 1am and watch it in the late afternoon. At first I tried not to read your entry, but I couldn't help myself. I hope it won't be long before Amalia is out of danger and in Pedraza's arms (after catching Jorge and Mariana).
My favorite Marquez book was the first one I read--One Hundred Years of Solitude (in English). I tried reading one of his novels in Spanish, but there were too many words I was having to look up. I saw "The Incredible Tale" at our Spanish language theater, GALA, in Spanish with English sur-titles. The only novel I haven't read is Autumn of the Patriarch, nor his memoir. Such beautiful prose.
Anita, I agree. I loved One Hundred Years of Solitude and have read it twice. I bought the newest Spanish edition, with a long introduction by Mario Vargas Llosa, a couple of years ago. This is a retirement reading project!
Actually, Romelia convinced Pablo to be the new Eddie (cameraman) by reminding him that Lucho is a sicko who knows where granny and cousin live.
Ped was in charge of tracking Vargas which led him to this building, hence they work their way in to hack the security, Rojas monitoring the cams seems to be on to the Vargas elevator meet.
Jones makes a move on Amalia in front of Ped complimenting her earrings only to find out Rojas gave them to her cooling the scene, yep, they are trackers.
Tuerto locates the earring trackers with a handheld scanner before throwing Amalia into the dog box, but apparently keeps them to bring along the rest of her gang, but in Tumaco he gives them to another girl.
the pilot feeds the alligators.
Jones is in charge of the Amalia extraction but Ped has a secret plan B involving the General, hmm, and we know he is after Vargas.
curious, senor M alerts Copete, but Tuerto has already alerted ?? that Amalia's team will be along.
season 3 (chapter 64) opens with a short scene, a young shipwrecked girl is saved at sea and put below with slave girls destined for the Sultan, she later helps a girl escape but doesn't go herself, who is this girl?
It looks more and more as if the writers of this novela have parent/child issues. So far, we've had at least three parents mourning for their murdered children: Altagracia, Leon, and Noelia's mother, Florencia (who is mourning her other daughter, who was killed some time ago by the Arcoíris). And we also have troubled parent/child relations (Lucho and his mother; Braulio and his father). I wish the writers had simply sought help from therapists rather than by writing a sick plot. Oh well....
There were a few satisfying moments in this episode. At the start, there was Vidal's admission that he had revoked the warrant for Leon's arrest because Leon had him by the short and curlies.
Although I did not like the fact that Lucho had kidnapped Noelia and is planning to kill her while making a snuff film, I did enjoy Noelia's response. Lucho has her tied up, but rather than showing fear, Noelia calmly asks him, "Are you done with your little show? You going to rape me like all the others?" Lucho tells her that her sister was scared, and she will be, too. He asks Noelia whether she'd like to kill him. She calmly replies that no, she wants Leon to lock him up, and she adds, "You know what prisoners do to psychos like you." She then taunts him, "Were you raped as a little boy? Was it your mother?" Bingo, she's definitely hit a nerve. Lucho hits her.
A little later, we see Lucho watching one of his videos, apparently hoping that it will turn him on. He proceeds to try to rape Noelia, but his body isn't cooperating. "Having performance issues?" she asks him. She taunts him for his inability to perform, and he responds by hitting her repeatedly in the face with his fist. Pablo tries to stop him, telling him, "If you beat her to death, there won't be anything for the video."
Meanwhile, Sebastian comes to see Altagracia to object to her lawyer's accusing him of causing the death of a patient by operating while he was drunk. While arguing with AG, he learns that Noelia has been kidnapped by the Arcoíris. He immediately leaves. Meanwhile, Alfonso, Romelia, Braulio, and La Felina are meeting to decide what to do about Sebastian. Romelia suggests that they kill him, since he might turn on them. Braulio volunteers to get rid of Sebastian. We then see Braulio driving toward the hospital (I think), when suddenly his car is cut off by another car. Out steps a mystery man. The camera slowly moves from his shoes up to his face, a face we've never seen before, but Braulio has: it's Daddy Dearest, who is angry with Braulio because Interpol has been tracking him and only Braulio knew his phone number. End of episode.
Thanks again, novelera.
The man in the photo Paula showed the grunt was someone new to us. I didn't catch the connection either. Was he the third in the trio that tried to assassinate Pedraza? I wonder why she picked this particular soldier to show the photo to. He DID look as though he knew who it was and was too scared to talk.
After Ped & Jones hacked into the (government, I think) building, Rojas & co. saw Vargas go up in the elevator and then come down, alone. I wonder why they didn't put a bug IN the elevator, while they were at it. So they still don't know who Vargas met with. I'm sure they'll get to it.
Since Tuerto knows the earrings were GPS transmitters, I think he gave them to the chick to throw off the rescue. Obvio they're going to go to the wrong place. Are our guys smarter than that?
Well, off to watch Tuesday's episode and hopefully it's all resolved.
Whew! Amalia was not raped by Tuerto. I gotta hand it to the Tuerto actor, he does disgusting as well as anyone I’ve ever seen in a novela. First Amalia punched him in the jewels, getting herself a strong backhand for this. Then Copete showed up outside. Tuerto did NOT want Copete to know he had Amalia inside. Then he’s ordered by, IIRC The Governor, to come back to Narco HQ.
After Tuerto leaves Amalia manages to get her handcuffs off that metal post, but something sparks and starts a fire. Tuerto has come back, sees the smoke and runs in to save el platico (lots of money). He finds Amalia trapped under something and carries her out before returning for the $$$. She gets away.
There’s a major rescue operation going on in several places. Pedraza doesn’t trust the army guys, although General Alvaro has vouched for the commanding officer, Rodriguez, I believe. Pedraza takes a car and goes separately. He knocks over a barrel from shock in seeing a severed head and is grabbed up. Copete punches him. Pedraza and Copete have made a deal about, I think, Copete getting the ransom money. But the place is stormed by our guys and, as always, lots of bodies.
Jorge doesn’t know where Amalia is and has consulted with a lawyer, hoping to get the jump on her and file first. The lawyer isn’t best pleased about his plan to ask for custody of the boys. Jorge agrees to talk with Amalia before anything is set in motion. Later on, Mariana expresses that she’s beginning to fall for Jorge, who rejects her right away. What a dog! He was willing to jump her bones, though.
Amalia, still handcuffed, runs through the jungle. And Pedraza is doing the same, also handcuffed. Tuerto appears out of nowhere and points a gun at his head. Amalia shoots Tuerto. Not sure where she got the gun. And our two, I believe, future lovebirds are reunited.
Rojas has managed to find the identity of Señor M. This should be interesting.
Pedraza digs up, I believe, the ransom money, and gives it to Copete, who tells him the next time he sees him he'll blow his head off. Copete seemed to regret his involvement in the narco trade and mentioned his having been part of FARC, a Marxist guerrilla group fighting the Colombian government for decades. They disarmed in 2016.
That’s about all I remember.

Excellent recall, novelera. It certainly helped me visualize it all over again. I’m going to try to watch it again to absorb any nuances. Except for the upside-down, near dunk in boiling liquid, that nearly boiled Ped, it was a pretty good episode
One thing I had to laugh at, though. El Gobernador, the said Cesar, decided to flee the coop and stuffed as much cash as he could from his safe into a backpack and a dufffle bag. Ortega and her Team interrupted him and as they approached, guns blazing, he drops the duffle bag and takes off with just the backpack. The good guys are giving him a run for his money, but he outruns them——the two that lost him are young and fit. He’s middle-aged and paunchy AND wearing a backpack full of cash (that much has got to be heavy). Anyway, I guess he wasn’t supposed to be caught just yet, because he should have. He was fortunate in having one of those little launches conveniently hidden with branches, right under the bridge practically in plain sight, the only item on the shore. Regardless, it was a great shot of the boat speeding away down the river. I wonder where he’ll turn up.
Oh, ones thing I remembered—one of the Team told Rodriguez he didn’t trust his men because they know there are infiltrators in the group he commands. And sure enough, as soon as Rodriguez informs the men of the operation, one guy makes a phone call. Wasn’t that the one to El Gobernador?
SpanProf, good point about tracking people through their cell phones. You're right, I can't figure out why the police (or, at least, Leon and karen) aren't using that capability.
Halimacandy, I loved your describing Noelia "reading Luis like a dirty book." And yes, the evil woman cop looks like she could choke. IIRC, she's being paid off by Navarette.
thanks so much novelera and Anita for your comments.
can't say Mari would be a good catch after her thinking Wilson was the love of her life, wonder where he got off too.
I was quite amazed at the quantity of money Tuerto had in that bunker under that shack, did no one else know about it, he managed to save enough to fill an easter basket, and loose Amalia in the deal, what a klutz.
Ped had this side deal with Copete splitting his payoff for letting the drugs go to M, so now Ped would give it all up for Amalia, Copete took it but threw him a ?? flash drive, with everything they didn't want known about the operation, I kind of like Copete.
yep, they lost the gobernado because Jones needed to stop and share his feelings for Amalia.
I think that bridge was a regular in "Sin Senos", I may have to go there some day.
it looks like a wrap in Tumaco.
deb--I'm amazed by the amount of cold hard cash that's always on hand. This location probably served as a joint "bank." I was surprised Tuerto stopped to save Amalia in lieu of more money. It took a lot of effort, since he had to climb down a sewer-type ladder then more steps to the bunker floor.
Ah yes, Jones had to ask if there might be a chance for him with Amalia someday. He knows how Ped and Amalia behave around each other, but Ped told him earlier that there was "nothing" between them. So, I guess he decided to take a chance.
Really, I can't wait for Jorge and Mariana to be out of the picture. Still, I can't see Ped settling down with Amalia and her two kids. Jorge IS the better parent, except for his most current transgression--he should have stuck to prostitutes.
In tn convention, when two guys love the same woman (Ped & Jones), trope has it one of them has to die. If that holds true, we can probably put our money on Pedraza to be alive at the end.
JUANITA :
YES..YES!!! I dont get the cheappyy keystone cop ..techno thing but Karen does utilize the LAB !! Go karen!!

Thanks so much, Anita and deb, for filling in the blanks.
As I may have mentioned before, Wednesday night from 8:00 to 10:00 is my Advanced Spanish class. I've been in this class for about 25 years! We chit-chat or perhaps give a book or movie review for the first hour (100% in Spanish) and then the second hour we read aloud, each in turn, from a Spanish novel or book of short stories. Our profe, Leo, asks us lots of literary and vocabulary questions about what we're reading. It's so late because our former teacher, Graciela, passed away. Her son had been teaching beginning and intermediate. He took on Advanced also, but it has to be late because intermediate is from 6 to 8 pm.
We're currently reading Montevideanos, short stories by Mario Benedetti, a terrific Uruguayan writer.
So, no Operacion Pacifico for me last night. And book club tonight, so I may not catch up until the weekend.
I am enjoying the novela. Compared to some narconovelas I think it's very well done.
Deb, I also sort of like Copete. He seems to abide by the "honor among thieves" code. He's got the nicest, horrible teeth smile! And he's proud of having been a Marxist guerrilla.
novelera--between deb and me, we may get highlights up (tomorrow, for me).
I'm impressed that your Spanish class is delving so far south. The only Uruguayan writers I was exposed to as a school girl were Jose Enrique Rodo (Ariel) and Juan Zorrilla de San Martin (Tabare).
I looked up Benedetti on Wikipedia. Interesting life I knew nothing about. There were at least three schools in Montevideo whose curricula were closely allied to a language: The German School (which Benedetti attended for awhile), The British School and the then only American School-Crandon, which I attended.
