"LA Dona 2":

SpanProf: RIP Isabel: what was she thinking dating that bloodthirsty psychopath SMH.

HALIMACANDY: Now Altagracia & Regina have lost kids.

Novelera: Something tells me we're NOT getting a happy ending here.

La dona 2. Oh no! Lucho is framing Daniel for Isabela's murder! That should stretch this novela out even longer than seemed possible! Btw, Lucho broke into that women's shelter (?) awfully easily, given that they're supposed to be protecting vulnerable people. Or was Daniel's computer somewhere else?

"LA DONA 2":

SpanProf: Looks like we're getting a 3rd Season.

La dona 2. Steve: Yuck. I have no plans to watch it. Regarding last night's episode: Could Noelia be the one who figures out that Daniel's computer was interfered with?

Random memories:

We see Liliana Neira walking through the club where the assassin wearing a lucha libre mask killed a bunch of people. A hand comes over her mouth to try to scare novelera, but I was pretty sure it was Pedraza. She turns out to be addicted to drugs and Ped and Amalia put her in rehab. She cries when she sees the picture of Gregorio. At first she says Liliana died but then owns up to who she is.

Amalia contacts Lupe, a real Swiss Army Knife of a gal, who apparently has a contact for methadone. But Aparicio has tapped her phone and is listening in. [What did telenovelas do for plots before cell phones began to speed up the action?]

Vargas shows up for work at General Lopez’s office, smiling and acting like all is well. GL tells him what he thinks of him, but the purpose was putting a bug on the underside of the general’s computer monitor. Later Vargas listens in to Teniente Paula Gaitán telling the general about the bad guys having sent someone to kill Dominguez, but they disabled the phone. Vargas doesn’t get the location of the Operación Pacífico HQ, but has this crooked Sergeant try to find them, combing the general area.

Dominguez has gotten a gun from the guy they hit on the head and handcuffed, hiding it in his waistband. Later he points it at the guy trying to get him to confess. Dominguez totally falls for a fake pain the guy has and he gets the gun away. That was the night’s cliffhanger, IIRC.

Mariana can’t get an appointment with the university guy (head of the department where she had been taking classes?) They appear fed up with her. She injects herself again. An episode ago Wilson noticed the missing drugs, suspects her, but can’t find the stash.

Jorge shows up and finds her in a drugged state. He says he cares about her. Can’t tell if he was looking for sex or if there’s a bit of good in the guy. Mariana finally picks up Amalia’s call and sounds OK enough, but she’s ridden with guilt at how good her sister has been to her. She doesn’t want whatever Jorge is offering. We saw him gloating over that briefcase full of money (was it $500K, US dollars?) and probably planned to spend some of it on rehab.

There's kind of a what? thing in my mind. At the beginning there was a big fuss about Mariana having to leave the children to take a big test and Jorge not being there, the gist being that someone needed to be with the children. So Jorge is working on his money laundering scheme and Amalia's in Mexico. Mariana is shooting up. Who's watching those kids?

Zorrilla (think this is the name) was badly wounded when the DEA stormed Hortensio’s hideout. Jones is very guilty about this and tries to donate blood. Jones’ boss is very hostile toward him. Hortensio offers his guys a million US for each DEA guy they kill. He wants all local hospitals swarmed. I think the rest of the team may have gone back to the US, leaving Jones potentially needing to fend off the narcos.

I’m sure there was more, but I’ve started watching the 10PM epi because of better subtitles. This makes it tough to do my normal routine for recaps: once through just watching and then the second time with a fair amount of FF and taking notes. I’ve watched the East Coast 7:00 or 6:00 airings for years, which makes recapping so much easier. I can’t tell if it’s the Colombian accents or what, but I’m more dependent on Spanish subtitles for this one.

SpanProf, I don't know why Telemundo would want to offer a 3rd season of this piece of you-know-what, nor even whether they're really planning such a disaster, but, like you, I will certainly not be watching it. It's all I can do to continue to watch season 2.

Apparently relief may be on the way. There have been ads for 100 días para enamorarnos and for a new season of Enemigo íntimo. 100 días is said to start sometime in April, while Enemigo is said to start pronto, which probably also means in April. Surely one of them will replace the trash we're currently stuck with. The question is, which other show will be ending, Exatlón or Operación pacífico? My guess is Exatlón. If that's the case, 100 días is likely to be shown at 8 pm. That's OK with me.

As for last night's episode, I too think it's possible, even likely, that Noelia will be able to figure out that the photos Lucho put on Daniel's laptop have a phony date stamp, or have something else that will indicate that they've been planted. But yes, Lucho's doing this means we have to endure several weeks more. And, of course, she has to get pig-headed Leon to trust her (Hey, Leon, should Fátima trust you?)

Speaking of Lustful Leon, I found it very difficult to watch him and AG go at it last night. Yuck! The only good part was when AG told him that no, she doesn't always play by the rules and that's why she could never be with a cop, and so she gives him back the ring he left at her place and tells him "now go back to Fátima and I'll go back to José Luis."

Speaking of lustful, Romelia was all over José Luis. I wish her sobrinas could have seen her! Does anyone know what insulting Spanish words José Luis uttered after Romelia left? I kept listening to my recording, but I couldn't make it out. It's clear he was calling her a whore or a bitch or something equally nasty (and deserved), but I'd love to know what the Spanish was. Ayudenme, por favor.

La dona 2: Juanita: I don't remember what Jose Luis's insulting words were, but I think they might have been a little more nuanced than bitch or whore. The Leon-Ag hookup was completely improbable, and I am just glad that AG had enough common sense not to take it any farther. She may be morally warped, but she can be amazingly practical as well.

Doña2

I can’t believe I’m still watching this.

I had hoped that Sebastian would make it to the end and be forgiven. His stupid sister survives.

Oh Leon, why did you do it?

Poor Daniel. Yes, let’s hope Noelia can absolve him.

Juanita, José Luis said “vieja lanzada”. English caps translated it as “horny bitch”

doña2

Muchas gracias, dondi356! After reading your message, I went to WordReference.com to see whether I could find out anything more about vieja lanzada. It had nothing about that term, but I did see that a colloquial meaning of lanzada is vomit.

Again, many thanks for the info. And I am glad to know that you, too, are still watching this [fill in your favorite expletives]. As they say, misery likes company.

"LA Dona 2":

Dondi356: I'm dreading Regina might NOT be among the living.

La dona 2. Should I feel better or worse that that creepy sex scene between Romelia and Jose Luis seems to only have been in her imagination?

doña2

Halimacandy, thanks so much for your delightful recap/kneecap of last night's episode. I loved your advice to Fátima: "quit it ..with this long suffering wife bit.. take a vase and bust Leon upside his fat horny head." I definitely share your frustration at his behavior and her distress.

I also liked your exasperated remark re Noelia: "When does her..valid EYEWITNESS STATEMENT !! COUNT????" I think the point the novela is trying to make and make and make and make is that the justice system is corrupt and money speaks louder than guilt or innocence. I wonder, though, whether it will still work for piggy Alfonso. He may get away with smashing the prostitute in the face, but Leon has arrested him not really for that but to be able to interrogate him about Mónica's death.

And with Leon's adolescent fixation on AG, one of the increasingly few characters left in the novela that I root for is Noelia. Her guts and persistence are admirable (and dangerous) qualities. Like you, I enjoyed it when "she put a flea in daddy Navy ear" about his psychopathic son.

Was anyone surprised that Regina came into the office just as the authorities came upon the photos that Lucho had planted on Daniel's computer? I wonder how many days we're going to have her agonizing over her doubts. Yawn. Then again, sometimes Telemundo doesn't stretch things out the way the traditional novela used to. If we're lucky (or they're running out of time), Noelia will quickly determine that the photos were planted. You go, girl!

La dona 2. Juanita: And I guess a few days ago in Mexico there was some kind of huge demonstration in Mexico about all the murdered and "disappeared" Mexican women whose killers were never caught (or maybe even looked for).

LA DONA

JUANTA/SPANPROF...

YES... THEY ARE DRAGGIN IT OUT...

...THE CHILEAN WOMEN CHAT[ against rapist] Out side the court /Harvey wienstein trial was EPIC!!!!

La dona 2. When the disguised Romelia was outside the women's refuge, I was surprised to see that Mexico still has pay phones.

"LA Dona 2":

SpanProf: I wonder if the Coronavirus fears will shut down production of many Telenovelas like "LA Dona 2", etc.,

La dona 2. Steve: I suspect that La dona 2 is done filming (I hope). If it keeps a La dona 3 from happening, that would be a rare upside of the virus. If worse comes to worst, I suppose that Telemundo and Univision could re-run an old telenovela or 2.

pacífico

Just a heads-up: Operación Pacífico will not be shown tonight (Monday, March 16). Instead, at 10 pm Telemundo will air a 1-hour program entitled Coronavirus: emergencia mundial. It will present the most recent information about the coronavirus pandemic, including health measures recommended by the authorities and suggestions for avoiding contagion. In addition, experts will respond to questions from the public on social networks.

In keeping with the focus on disasters, La Doña 2 will air tonight at 9 pm as usual. :-)

LA DONA2

OKAY THANKS !!!!!....IT LOOKS LIKE ITS wrapping up .. with a bomb.... expulsive.. why?? what's with the dynamite obsession??

general

@Juanita...Loved the "in keeping with the focus on disasters"!!!

Can I have the poem that Lilian a wrote? The one that Amalia recited to her that made her cry.
