I'll do tonight's recap. (I know I said this as part of an earlier comment, but I thought I'd post on this page as well.)
Sorry, folks. I've had some serious computer problems, and so I was not able to post the recap tonight. It's written, but I need to work on it a bit more when I'm awake. I hope to have it up sometime tomorrow late morning, pacific time.
Cemal confronts Ugur. "What was your connection with Asu in the past?" Ugur claims he doesn't know what Cemal is talking about. Cemal tells him, "Asu called you and told you to tell Demir to stay away. Ugur tries to make light of any claim Asu may have made. Cemal lets him know that it wasn't Asu who told him this, it was Zeynep, who was with Asu when she called you. Ugur still avoids giving Cemal a clear reply, this time calling into question the testimony of a woman who abandoned an 8-year-old child. Cemal keeps after Ugur: "Did you or did you not know about the police raid?" Ugur simply tells him to leave him in peace.
Ugur goes to see Demir, who is at work at the restaurant Ugur used to work at. Demir tells Ugur he can't really talk to him now, he's very busy. They'll talk tonight. Ugur accidentally makes Demir drop the salad he's holding. The salad scatters on the floor. The boss is understandably angry. He yells at Ugur to get out. Ugur leaves, and Demir cleans up the salad mess. While he's doing this, he gets a text from Candan, asking whether he can leave Oyku with Mufide and come home after work. Sevgi wants to talk to them about Oyku. Demir texts back Yes. Candan and Sevgi come back to the house with bags of groceries.
Demir's boss seems very pleased with Oyku, as she scurries about, taking orders and cleaning tables. He tells Demir and Oyku, "You make a great team!" He pays Demir for the day's work. Demir says, "You gave me more than you promised." The boss tells him that he kept the customers happy. The boss then also gives money to Oyku. She's delighted.
Demir tells Oyku he's going to drop her off at Mufide's and pick her up later. Why? asks Oyku. Demir tells her he has work to do. Oyku scowls at him. "What's that look?" Demir asks. He mentions Candan's name, and Oyku says that if it's Candan, then that's OK. In a mock annoyed voice, Demir repeats Oyku's "If it's Candan...." He thanks his "royal princess" for permission. "Anytime," Oyku replies.
Ugur has joined Candan and Sevgi at Candan's. Candan asks whether he's seen Demir today, and if so, how did he seem. Ugur tells her that he saw him at the restaurant where he works, but he was too busy to talk. Candan is surprised--she didn't know about his job at the restaurant.
Demir drops Oyku off at Mufide's. She asks whether he has seen Ugur. He says yes, at the restaurant very briefly. She asks whether he was alone or with someone. Demir says he was alone. Mufide is disappointed, she's supposed to keep a secret, but she has good news for Demir: Cemal is back. Demir is a bit puzzled. Mufide tells him Cemal just got back from being overseas. She asks Demir not to tell Ugur that she told him, let the news be a surprise. Demir agrees.
He leaves Mufide's but is soon accosted by Cemal. "There's something I have to tell you," says Cemal. "The night I was arrested, it was Asu who gave me up. And Ugur knew that Asu was handing me over to the police." Demir has a flashback of Demir and Ugur heading for the house they were about to rob. Ugur tells Demir he has a very bad feeling about this. Please turn back. Demir protests that Cemal is inside the house. Then they hear the police car sirens. The police arrive. Ugur holds Demir back. "There's nothing we can do." Back in the present, Cemal wants to know what Ugur's connection was to Asu. Demir insists that Ugur had nothing to do with it.
Demir arrives home and is surprised to see Ugur. And then he sees the table set. What's going on, he asks. He tells Sevgi, "Candan said you want to discuss something about Oyku." Sevgi tells him not to worry, everything is fine with Oyku. Demir again wants to know what's going on. Ugur tells him that the women have made fried fish by themselves, so let's enjoy it. Demir's eyes light up at the thought of fried fish. Candan asks Demir to let her serve him.
Cemal comes into a cafe looking for someone named Faik. A man points him out. Cemal asks Faik why he's surprised to see him. Faik replies, "You appear suddenly out of nowhere. I didn't know you'd gotten out." Cemal tells Faik, "I'm looking for answers. When the police came the night I was arrested, everyone got out, including you. Where were you? Did Ugur pay you?" Faik tells Cemal, "Ugur called to tell me about the job, and then he called to say it had been called off. I found out that you'd been caught only sometime later."
Everyone is enjoying the dinner that Candan and Sevgi have prepared. Ugur suggests that they open a seafood restaurant. Sevgi remarks sarcastically, "Just what we need." Demir is asked how his first day of work went. He says that Oyku worked with him, and she even got a tip.
Faik calls Ugur. He tells him that Cemal came by, asking about the night he was arrested. He didn't ask about the other thing. About his father. "Be quiet!" says Ugur. Ugur tells the others at the dinner that something has come up and he has to leave. He goes off to see Faik. Sevgi and Candan are disappointed that the dinner didn't lead to the discussion they hoped would take place.
Ugur finds Faik. Faik tells him "Cemal was here. He was very suspicious. He wanted to know why he was the only one caught. I said nothing...for now. If you pay me, I'll keep quiet." Ugur tells him he's broke. He asks Faik not to say anything. Cemal is outside and sees the two of them through the cafe window. Faik threatens Ugur, "I could also remember other things. You should think about it." Faik then leaves. Cemal stays out of sight and then follows him. Eventually he catches up with Faik, grabs him, and asks why he called Ugur. Cemal starts punching Faik. After a few strong punches, Faik says, "I'll tell you everything. Just stop."
Demir carries the sleeping Oyku into the house. He thinks Oyku may have a fever. Candan feels her head and says it's not a fever. When he has put Oyku to bed, Candan asks, "Can we talk?" She tells him that she's very sorry for not telling him about Cemal. "I always knew that you were Oyku's father. But I panicked. As for Mu-RAT..." Suddenly there's a cry, "Papá!" Demir rushes into Oyku's room, feels her head, and says, "She's burning up!" Candan calls a taxi, and they take Oyku to the hospital. On the way, Candan also calls Dr. Ihsan, who says he's on his way. Demir keeps asking the taxi driver to go faster. (I feared there would be an accident, but they arrived safely.) The staff immediately put an apparently unconscious Oyku in a hospital bed, put an oxygen mask on her face, and start examining her. Demir and Candan look on. Dr. Ihsan comes out and says they're running tests, but this is the worst crisis Oyku has had so far. He urges Demir to be patient.
Later, Demir and Candan come to see Dr. Ihsan, and he tells them that unfortunately the medications aren't as effective as we'd hoped. The disease didn't evolve as we'd hoped. Demir asks what this means. Dr. Ihsan says there's only one option: find a compatible donor for a bone marrow transplant. Otherwise, Oyku won't have much time to live.
Cemal knocks on Ugur's door. Ugur is walking toward his house, but he's on the phone. He tells the person he's speaking to, "I'll be right there." A telenovela taxi just happens to come by at that moment and Ugur hails it. A frustrated Cemal watches as Ugur gets into the taxi. Cemal follows in his car.
Demir and Candan come to Dr. Ihsan's office. They tell him they've just donated blood, and they ask whether there are any results yet from the transplant center. Not yet. He tells Demir to get some rest. They leave the office. Demir says he needs some air. Candan asks whether she should go with him. No, it's not necessary.
Ugur rushes from his taxi into the hospital. Cemal is just a short distance behind. Inside, they accidentally crash into each other. Cemal tells him, "It's over, Ugur, I know everything. I'll tell Demir the truth." Ugur replies, "You've lost your mind." Cemal says, "I'm going to tell him how you killed his father." A second or two later, Demir comes upon them. Ugur immediately tells Demir not to listen to Cemal. Cemal says simply, "I came to tell you something you have to know." Demir tells Cemal, "Stop talking about that traitor Asu. My daughter's life is in danger!" He says they should give blood. Ugur immediately asks where to go to do so. Follow me, says Demir.
Ugur follows Demir. Cemal goes to look through the window at an unconscious Oyku. Cemal has a flashback to when he left the orphanage. Demir was there to greet him. Cemal is feeling at loose ends. Demir tells him not to worry, they're together. They talk, and Demir tells him about his new good friend, Ugur. "You'll like him. He really helped me when I needed a job." Cemal asks how. "He's like us," says Demir. "A thief?" asks Cemal. "Yes, and a very good one. We're going to make lots of money. He's a good guy. He helped me a lot when my father died." Cemal says, "I didn't have a chance to offer my condolences. I couldn't go to the funeral; I couldn't get permission." Cemal then asks Demir what it was like being with his father. Demir says, "It was rather weird. I always wanted something like that to happen, but when it finally did, I didn't know what to do. I never really got used to it." He vows to Cemal, "If I ever have a child, the child will never doubt how much I love him." In the present, Cemal tells Demir, "You succeeded, you became a good father. If your father were alive, he would be proud of you." He then continues, "You and I were deceived." Demir tells him he doesn't want to talk any more about that night. Cemal says, "I know who killed your father. The night your father died, several people took part in a robbery: Seki, Ahmed, and Ugur. Ugur shot your father." On that revelation, the episode ends.

"Café, con aroma de mujer", William Levy/Laura Londoño, but wait, Carmen Villalobos is the villain.
avance and news on P en Es.

Thank you so much, Juanita! I really appreciate you getting this out so quickly after having computer issues. I hope you didn’t lose any important files. I admire how you are always so good with the dialog complete with punctuation as I have absolutely no patience with that.
Another revelatory episode.
Wow. Ugur. Guilt over Demir’s dad led to their friendship. I remember early on Ugur said he promised Demir’s father he would look after Demir. I do hope Faik is lying or mistaken but it does look like Ugur was involved somehow.
I enjoyed that brief dinner prep and meal. Personal note: that was a meal my grandmother would make! Small fried fish (smelts or sardines), a big green salad, bread, artichokes. Yum.
They played another song from the original soundtrack: “You and I Alone” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=du4nkZbW270
Great. Candan will feel more beholden to Mu-rat now that Oyku is gravely ill. The Rat will definitely take advantage.
Could the match for Oyku be…Cemal?
dondi356
Terrific recap, Juanita! And you got a Mu-RAT-free one! That guy makes my skin crawl.
Loved "telenovela taxi". We can add that one to Telenovela Airlines that get you somewhere in 5 minutes. Telenovela Medicine in which multiple bullet wounds heal in, at most, 2 episodes. I know there are others, but those are the ones that come to mind.
My prediction is that they will need Asu for the transplant. I'm finding it hard to believe we won't see anything more of her until the gran finale.
This is another development I don't like. Ugur has turned his life around and I hate to see his having shot Demir's father being revealed.
novelera, I hope Asu isn't needed and we never see her again. It is possible they will try to find her for a match. When I saw Cemal at the ICU window, I got a feeling he might be the match. Another possibility is Ugur. Then Demir might be able to forgive him for killing his father.
dondi356
Thanks VERY much, dondi356 and novelera, for your great comments and your patience with the late recap.
dondi356, I really like your idea of a possible match with either Cemal or Ugur, especially your suggestion that a match with Ugur might help Demir forgive him for killing his father.
Yes, novelera, the telenovela taxi is part of the telenovela family that includes telenovela airlines and telenovela medicine. We could really use a huge dose of telenovela medicine for Oyku!
Ditto to everything Dondi said. Someone (Dondi, I think) had said that Ugur knew much more about Demir's father's death, so kudos to you!. But WOW, to even think that Ugur was the one who shot him was flabbergasting. I too hope that Faik is lying or mistaken. I just can't see this ending with the two BFFs split apart and maybe Ugur ending up in prison. Maybe Ugur had a replacement that night...we can only hope!
And I thought the same thing about CEMAL being the match for Oyku! I do NOT want to see Asu back! BUt what a great idea that Ugur will be the match so that it will lead to redemption in Demir's eyes.
Thanks again, Deb! They sure are making a BIG deal about Carmen Villalobos being a villain!
Thanks very much, Rgv Chick, for your appreciative comments. I too am hoping that Asu doesn't turn out to be a match. And like you, I'm hoping it's Ugur.
Rgv Chick- I don't think you watched Sin Senos Si, Carmen's character was a goody two shoes DEA agent, justice and all, with a wholesome marriage (and a reckless obsession for a narco), but her day-late-and-a dollar-short life pretty much ruined the lives of everyone in the novela, and this is when she was being a good girl.
Deb, I didn't watch "Senos" and was wondering what all the hoopla was about; thanks for the background on Carmen!
I liked a novela with Carmen as the heroine and Jencarlos Canela as the male lead. It was called Mi Corazón Insiste en Lola Volcan
Never heard of that one, Novelera, but from what I just read about it, it does sound like it was good. Thanks!
