TELEMUNDO Y MÁS (#1): Todo Por Mi Hija, Falsa Identidad 2, y más: Week of January 18, 2021
Here are the current evening telenovelas (all times are Eastern Standard Time):
• 9-10PM—Todo Por Mi Hija**
• 10-11PM—Falsa Identidad 2
**Wednesday is Inauguration Day. Once again, we have different scheduling information from Telemundo and Zap2It. According to Telemundo's website, both novelas will be shown at their usual time on Wednesday. Zap2It, however, says that on Wednesday, Todo por mi hija will be pre-empted by a 2-hour program (8-10 PM) entitled Especial: Biden en la Casa Blanca. Falsa Identidad 2 will be shown at its usual time. I'm not sure which is correct.
Everyone is welcome to join in the conversation. Since discussions of all the Telemundo novelas share the same page, please remember to put the name of the telenovela you're referring to at the top of your post, so readers can easily find the conversations they're looking for.
By common agreement, this group DOES NOT discuss previews, trailers, or any other plot information not found in a current or past episode of the current production. Spoilers WILL be removed by the admin. This includes reference to earlier productions of the story, and even the original novel. Thanks for your cooperation!

Looking forward to it, dondi!
I thought of some of stuff that hasn’t been resolved and might come up in the last few episodes:
* Jilet is still out free in some other country, probably close by
* The attorney who ran off with Oyku’s inheritance has not been found.
We get a long capitulos anteriores and a slight rewind of Candan’s convo with Mu-Rat.
I love Demir, says Candan, I’m sorry, I can’t give you what you want. Mu-Rat tells her, you will regret this, Candan. It’s a game you have already lost. Mu-Rat, I am not playing games, she replies, I have a family to worry about. I want this more than anything and I’ll protect it to the end. She adds, I understand if you never want to see me again. Mu-rat doesn’t say anything right away. He gets up. His parting words are “you are going to regret this”. (sounds like a threat!) Candan looks uneasy.
Demir has a glass of tea with Kemal. Since he thought Demir was dead, Kemal hired a new waiter. Demir understands. Kemal wants to know what happened. Demir says don’t ask; it’s a long story. Demir thanks Kemal for all he has done for him. Kemal tells Demir he needs to get his life in order. Demir says he’s not worried, he will find another job. At least he’s alive, that’s what matters. He asks Kemal for a blessing (hakkini helal et). Kemal gives his blessing (helal olsun) with a big hug. Kemal tells Demir he’s always welcome and to bring Oyku—he misses her. Demir leaves. He looks disappointed.
Cemal meets with Arif’s guy. He hands over the keys to his car, a credit card and the keys to his apartment and says, give my regards to Arif and thank him. He really helped me out. He saved my friend’s life. The account is settled. Cemal feels it wouldn’t be right to keep these things. Arif’s guy says, if you say so, Cemal. They shake hands and Cemal walks off.
Demir and Ugur are in an outdoor café. So your boss found someone else, asks Ugur? Of course, says Demir, he thought I was dead, so he hired someone else. Cemal walks up and sits with them. Ugur notices that Cemal looks very happy. Cemal tells them he got rid of a big burden today. Cemal orders tea for three. Demir wants to know what’s up. Cemal tells them he gave everything back to Arif. Really? Well done, says Ugur. Cemal says, he helped me because I saved his life, but now Demir is back and we are even. Demir asks, what happens now? Where will you live? Ugur would say to stay with him, but… Cemal tells Ugur he knows, not to worry, he will arrange something. He will get a room at the hostel until he saves some money. Ugur tells Cemal he’s always welcome in his home.
Demir says, I must find a house, too, I need to do this for Candan. Cemal teases, who would have thought, you are a real family man. Demir says, it’s no joke, we don’t sleep well on the couch. Ugur says that’s not so important right now—you should propose asap. Cemal wonders what Ugur means. Ugur tells him that the marriage was a formality. Cemal agrees with Ugur, make a proper proposal. Ugur says, make it clear you are serious about her. Get rid of the marriage of convenience. Demir thinks they are right, but he’s got nothing right now. How can he propose like this? Cemal says the intention is the important thing. Make the proposal and we will figure out the rest after.
The three amigos are walking to pick up Oyku. They are still talking about the proposal. Demir says he would take Candan to dinner, but he doesn’t have the money. He could only afford bread and eggs. I think Ugur might have an idea.
The scene cuts to the guys walking with Oyku. They must have explained the proposal idea to her. She thinks it will work out and Candan would be happy. Demir is not so sure. Cemal says, don’t wait. You can take Candan to a fancy restaurant when you make money. Demir says they don’t have anything at home either. Ugur says they have pasta at home and he will prepare it. Oyku says to make a nice salad. Ok, Demir is in. Hurray, shouts Oyku. Cemal takes off to find a job and the others go in the house to prepare for the big night.
dondi356
Candan walks up to the house. She sees colored lights through the window. Ugur opens the door for her, he’s dressed nicely. Welcome, Ms. Candan. She is surprised. what’s happening here, she asks. Ugur takes her bag and her coat. He leads her to the table. She asks, Where’s Demir? Where’s Oyku? Ugur asks her to please sit. Demir will be here soon. Candan looks around, there are lights and decorations and candles on the table.
Ugur lets Demir know that Candan is here. Demir is dressed in a jacket and is holding a bouquet. Demir’s nerves are talking, he thinks it’s a bit ridiculous to do this in the house. Ugur says don’t say that now, she’s waiting for you. Demir takes a deep breath and he’s ready to go.
Candan sees Demir and smiles. She starts to get up but Demir tells her to sit. He hands her the flowers and says she deserves better but that’s all he could do for now. She is very pleased and says they are beautiful, thank you. Demir sits. Candan asks again what is happening, the candles, the flowers.
Oyku comes in; she’s looks nice in her dress and flower head band. She says, welcome to our restaurant and hands out handmade menus. (Remember it’s a fixed menu) What would you like? Candan asks Oyku for a recommendation. The specialty is pasta and salad. Ok then, Candan says she will have the pasta and salad. Demir will have the same and juice to drink. Oops, Oyku forgot her pen. Demir whispers, over there. Oyku writes down the orders and brings them into the kitchen.
Candan says this is a nice restaurant. Yes, it recently opened. Candan says they could come more often. Demir says, Candan, I want to ask you something. It may sound a bit weird so don’t laugh. Ugur and Oyku are peeking from the kitchen. Candan says she won’t laugh. What’s going on?
Demir gets up and kneels in front of Candan. He starts, I couldn’t prepare anything better for such an important occasion. I wanted to but I couldn’t… or rather, I couldn’t think clearly because my head was all over the place. She stops him, what are you talking about? I don’t understand. He tells her to wait, he has to finish. Don’t interrupt! Yes, she’s sorry, go on… (she’s all smiles) Here goes-- Demir asks, will you marry me? Candan says, but we are already…. He finishes her sentence—married, but I want it to be a real marriage, he says, not one of convenience. Because you love me, right? And I love you, too. We are in love and that’s why, Candan…. will you marry me? Yes, I will marry you, Demir! Demir and Candan hug. Applause from Ugur and Oyku.
When things quiet down, Demir takes out a red piece of string. He doesn’t have money for a ring yet. But this isn’t any old piece of string. It symbolizes… He stumbles on the words and Oyku prompts him— the path between my heart and yours. Oyku continues to prompt—it represents all my love for you. It’s a way for you to remember me while you wear it, from today and until the end of our days. He asks Candan, may I (tie it on your finger)? More clapping and Oyku throws confetti. Hugs and congratulations all around. Oyku says she is very lucky. What other kid has seen their father proposing to their mother? But I have! (she said her mother!) Ugur and Oyku go to get the meals and Demir and Candan hold hands across the table.
dondi356
The four enjoy their dinner. Ugur has an idea, what about a lovely outdoor summer wedding for you? Sure, answers Demir, if I can save the money. Ugur says he can chip in, too. If we both work and save, we will have more than enough. We can send you on a honeymoon, too. Demir feels uncomfortable talking about this. Candan says, don’t worry; I don’t need a party. It’s an unnecessary expense. Oyku pipes up, you won’t wear a wedding dress, Candan? No need, Candan says, the important thing now is to find a house. Demir says they can talk about this later. Ugur gets up to clear the table, he will take care of everything. Demir tells Oyku to get ready for bed.
Candan tells Demir, I don’t want anything special. I’ll be happy with one thing: spending the rest of my life with you. Demir asks her, when Oyku goes to sleep, can you and I... What, she asks? Watch TV, he says. She looks a bit surprised by this request, but, ok yes, let’s watch TV. A movie and popcorn? Sounds good.
Cemal enters a restaurant. He asks for Semih. Semih sees Cemal and gives a warm greeting. He asks Cemal, where have you been? I’ve been busy, Cemal replies (an indirect way to describe the series of events that happened) They sit and talk. Cemal says Semih’s place is beautiful. I told you, Semih says, but you haven’t even come once to see me. Cemal again mentions he was busy ( you know—jail, revenge plots, kidnapping, gunshot, saving Oyku and Demir) Semih asks why Cemal is here now. He’s been looking for work and he wanted to ask Semih, too. Semih has something. He needs someone at the door. Someone who can take care of checking reservations—that kind of stuff. Cemal is frowning and Semih takes it that Cemal is turning it down. Semih says he will keep his ears open and let Cemal know. But Cemal says, when do I start? Tell me and I’ll be here. You can start tomorrow, Semih tells him. They shake on it.
Ugur is cleaning up in the kitchen. Candan comes in and asks to help. Ugur doesn’t need help; he tells Candan she can go sleep. She says they are not going to sleep; they’re going to watch a movie. Ah, Ugur says he will finish up in the kitchen and then go to bed. She invites him to watch with them. Ugur happily agrees. She will go get Demir and after Ugur is done, they will watch the movie.
Candan opens the bedroom door and sees Demir fast asleep in the bed with Oyku. She smiles and slides into bed next to Demir, snuggles up and closes her eyes. Ugur finishes in the kitchen and no one is in the living room except for Lucky. Ugur opens the bedroom door and smiles at the sleeping family. What a sweet family, he says and quietly closes the door.
Demir is walking Oyku to school. She thinks Candan is very happy. Yes, he says, and thank you for your help. Demir gets a call from Kemal. He has a job for him. A friend has a restaurant. Is it a waiter job? No, it’s for a dishwasher. Well, Demir says, maybe I can become a server later. Kemal will send the location. Demir thanks Kemal. Oyku asks about the new job. Demir tells some BS about losing his job. Oyku doesn’t look very happy about it. You will wash dishes, she asks? He makes it sound like a good job. Demir goes over the rules and tries to give her money. She tells him there is no need, she has juice from yesterday. Oyku looks concerned as she goes up the stairs. Demir looks pleased that he’s found work.
dondi356
Oyku is sitting in the schoolyard with a disheartened look on her face. Mercan comes over to her. He asks why she is sitting here. He asks what is wrong? She says, I need to earn money. We don’t have a house. We don’t have furniture. My dad not making enough money. She is on the verge of tears. I have to help him, she says. How, asks Mercan. If she still had books, she would sell them. She thought about selling water, she has no money to buy it. Mercan has an idea. They can work together. They can buy water and sell it. Oyku says ok, but when will we do it?
Mercan thinks. Phys Ed is their last lesson today. It’s a new teacher who doesn’t know us. We can skip the lesson and come back when school is over. Uh oh, Ilayda is listening in. She approaches Oyku and Mercan. She wants in. They don’t want her to come. She insists. Ilayda says, if you don’t let me come, I will tell the teacher. Just then Sevgi walks through the yard. Ilayda calls out, teacher, teacher! Oyku and Mercan, shut her up and tell her she can come. Sevgi asks if Ilayda wanted something. Only saying hello, she responds.
Demir shows up for the dishwashing job. The owner says he can start right away. There’s a mountain of dirty dishes in the kitchen. He has to wash these dishes by hand? I don’t see a machine. This isn’t sanitary. Aren’t there health codes in Turkey? All I can say is be careful if you eat in Turkey.
A man brings in a little kitten he found in his yard. He wants to adopt it and wants Candan to check him out. Candan gives him a quick check and then takes him in the back. While she is gone, the man slips a box of medication on a shelf. Candan finishes her exam and sends the man on his way with the cat. Outside the clinic, the man calls Mu-Rat and says it’s done. Do you need anything else? (The Rat has sunk to new lows)
The kids are figuring out how to leave the school yard without getting caught. Oyku takes a ball from some kids. She walks to the gate and throws it outside and down the stairs. When the guard goes to retrieve it, they take off the other way.
Sevgi meets up with Ugur at an outside café. She took advantage of the PE class at the end of the day.
The kids are deciding what to sell. Should they get water? Ilayda has a better idea. Let’s buy tissues it’s easier to carry.
Ugur tells Sevgi that Demir proposed to Candan. How sweet, she says. Ugur says, even though they have been married, it’s like they were practicing. Still, it’s very romantic, says Sevgi, you don’t need to do something big if it is done with love. The intent is what matters. Ugur is pleased to hear this (of course, because he can’t give Sevgi much either) She says, loving your partner is the most important. He grabs her hand. She smiles.
The kids are selling their tissues in the park. Oyku is shouting out to the people passing by. Ilayda wants a turn at selling but her technique isn’t as good a Oyku’s. Anyway, they draw the attention of another group of kids that are selling tissues, too. They tell Oyku & Co. to leave. They were there first. Oyku wants to fight about it but Mercan and Ilayda talk her into leaving the park. They are getting tired and stop to rest. They sit on the sidewalk and spread the tissues on the ground.
Candan is sitting outside her clinic drinking tea. Some suits from Animal Services show up. They say charges have been filed against her. What? We received a complaint that you are using products that don’t meet standards. They can’t give her any details and they must check her office. Candan doesn’t understand why this is happening, but she tells them to go check. They look through the shelves. One of the men finds the medication that The Rat’s guy placed there. Candan says, I had no idea that was there; it’s not mine! They tell her that this product is illegal, and they will have to take action.
And we are out.
dondi356
dondi, once again, I marvel at your talent in bringing all the emotions and events to us in such a masterly way. Thank you!
His parting words are “you are going to regret this”. (sounds like a threat!) I was hoping he was just warning Candan about the life she would live with Demir, but deep down, I sensed that it was much more...and how right we were! Now I understand why those girls commented that Candan would be the next victim. Murat probably has a history of victimizing and destroying those whom he can not have or control. Despicable snake of a man! Yes, dondi, he has sunk to new lows!
The dinner at Casa Ugur was sweet, but I did feel for Demir who feels he has nothing to offer Candan. I had to admire him for taking the dishwashing job without any hesitation. But, I wanted to punch him when he suggested a movie and popcorn...come on Demir, certainly you can think of something better than that which requires no money, just a little sensitivity and lovin' :-)
I also admired Cemal for returning everything Arif had given him...and for getting a job so quickly! Ugur has done NOTHING to get a job; he needs to get movin'; I still wonder where he gets the little money he has.
Oyku & company selling tissues??? All I could do was shake my head. They figured out a way to get out; how will they get back in?
And when is Mufide returning? I miss her!
Wonderful recap, Dondi!
I agree with you Rgv Chick, I was disappointed that Demir offered (after Oyku was asleep)... a movie?! Perhaps Turkish TV is more modest. If this was an American Soap Opera, there would have been flirting, sexual innuendo, and a long makeout session. Oh well. We'll have to use our imaginations. :)
Well, we knew there would be more drama, didn't we? Murat, Why?! He is infuriating! I'm afraid the 3 Musketeers will figure out what Murat has done, and hatch a plan to get him locked up in prison. And, while I would enjoy that immensely, I'm worried about the guys getting into trouble again. We shall see!
I'm also hoping that they show Hija to someone. Perhaps on the West Coast again, if the East Coast has the show pre-empted? The inauguration is early; it shouldn't conflict with the show...
Ken
Thanks, Rgv Chick and Ken!
Thanks, Rgv Chick, for reminding me about the girls who commented about The Rat. They should have pulled Candan aside then. It probably wouldn’t have done much good anyway.
Poor Demir was feeling inadequate. He looked like a nervous teenager asking a girl to the prom.
A couple of things about the movie invitation. It’s kind of tricky to get busy when your bedroom is the living room couch, and your daughter and best friend are only steps away. I wouldn’t have minded a little kissyface, though. I also think Demir respects Candan and wants to take things slowly for her sake.
And, Ken, Turkish entertainment is conservative. The emphasis is on the romance, not the sex act. Some shows push it a bit but you will not see anything like what we see on US soaps or on our TNs. In some ways its refreshing and in other ways it’s frustrating!
I think Hija will be preempted across the country on Wednesday. Last night they announced there are only 4 more shows to go and that would mean the gran final is on Jan 25. The new shows start Jan 26.
dondi356
Terrific recap, dondi! Your asides were spot on.
I was certain that Mu-RAT was planning something when he told her she'd regret choosing Demir. After all, we need some drama in the episodes remaining. But what a jerk he is! I hope they're not going with her veterinary practice being closed down; it's her life's work. But I can't figure out how they will fix the problem. The inspectors found the illicit drug there. Even if she remembered the shady guy with the kitten, how could she prove he put in on the shelf?
The proposal scene was very charming. Oyku was delightful as the "waitress" with the hand-drawn menus.
Cemal has certainly done an amazing 180. Regaining his friendship with Demir (and Ugur) has apparently revived the real Cemal...loyal and brave. I have been wondering throughout the whole novela how Arif could continue to provide him with everything. And now he's given it all back.
I miss Mufide too, but how are they all going to sleep in that house if she returns? I got the impression there are two bedrooms.
The only thing I can think of happening in such a short time is some sort of time lapse where they would show Ugur and Demir with good jobs and somehow everyone has a nice house.
So...the house belonged to Mufide and Demir was renting it. Isn't there homeowner's insurance in Turkey. They have barely mentioned the fact that the house was her nest egg.
Thanks so much, dondi356, for this great recap. As always, I loved your asides, especially "he was busy ( you know—jail, revenge plots, kidnapping, gunshot, saving Oyku and Demir)."
Rgv Chick, I had forgotten about the remark the girls made about Mu-RAT. I wonder how the Three Musketeers will deal with this. And like you, I just shook my head at the kids' plan to sell tissues or water or anything else. Oyku is supposed to be really good at math, so why suddenly can't she realize the difference between what they could earn and what would be in any way helpful?
Actually, I think one of the loose ends in this novela may prove to be important here. What has happened to the money Oyku's grandfather left for her? The shyster lawyer made off with it, but I'm hoping that perhaps it may still be recoverable. That would certainly give Demir, Candan, and Oyku some much-needed financial assets and security.
I'm planning on doing tonight's recap. It's unclear what's happening tomorrow. When I looked before putting up the current Telemundo y Más page (the one we're on now), the Telemundo website was claiming it would show Hija at its normal time on Wednesday, while Zap2It showed Telemundo as NOT showing Hija on Wednesday, instead showing a 2-hour special about Biden. I just looked at Telemundo's website again, and it still claims it's showing Hija at 9 pm on Wednesday. ¿Quién sabe? I might add that both Telemundo and Zap2It were showing a 2-hour Hija on Friday (starting at
8 pm). That would seem to make more sense if they were NOT showing Hija on Wednesday, but again, nothing is really clear.
Thanks, novelera.
Mufide is conveniently staying away. I don't know how she would have handled all of the turmoil that took place in her absence. Her house has only two bedrooms. novelera, you have a good question about homeowner's insurance. Maybe we will find out about that when Mufide returns.
I'm enjoying Cemal's transformation back to the "loyal and brave" friend. The actor is doing a great job with it.
I'm hoping that Candan has a camera in her clinic that would show the perpertrator.
dondi356
Thanks,Juanita, we posted at the same time!
It would be great if they could track down Oyku's inheritance. Is anyone still looking for it? Would there be any of it left at this point?
We will find out after tonight's show if they are running one on Wednesday. Yikes, another two hour episode?
dondi356
As usual, lots of rewind. We see again the three suits come to the clinic to investigate a complaint. They find the medicine that the guy working for Mu-RAT had planted. Candan protests that that's not one of her medicines, they can check her list. Someone must have planted it there. One of the suits tells her that she can file an appeal with the Agriculture Department, but there's nothing they can do right now except to close down the clinic. They seal the door shut.
Demir is taking a short break at work in order to have something to eat. To his dismay, someone brings in lots more dirty dishes for him to wash.
Sevgi and Ugur are enjoying their time together at a cafe. Sevgi reminds Ugur that it's time for him to pick Oyku up from school. He arrives at school, but Oyku hasn't yet come out. Betul and Ayla are also waiting.
Meanwhile, Oyku, Mercan, and Ilayda are still trying to sell tissues. Apparently they've had some success, unless Mercan is even more hopeless in math than he seemed in earlier episodes, because he joyfully exclaims that they've made a lot of money. Ilayda says she's hungry, and the other two agree that so are they. Ilayda suggests that they buy some tostadas. Mercan reminds her that Oyku needs the money. We can sell some more tissues, replies Ilayda. Oyku agrees. In their haste to go buy the tostadas, they inadvertently leave behind the unsold tissues. When they return, the tissues are gone. Moreover, they're lost and have no idea how to get back. "We could take a bus back," suggests Oyku, until she realizes that they don't have any money for the fare.
"My parents are going to kill me," says Ilayda. "Mine too," says Mercan.
Ayla has now gone into full panic mode. Something terrible must have happened to her daughter. Sevgi tries to calm Ayla. Ugur calls Demir to let him know Oyku has disappeared. "What?? I'll be right there!" He tries to explain to his boss that his daughter has an emergency. The boss is not like Kemal. "It's your first day," he tells Demir. "I have to go." "You can't." "Yes I can," says Demir, and he leaves.
The three kids are wandering about, tired and lost. "What if my mother gets bored and leaves," worries Ilayda. "Why would she do that?" asks Oyku. Oyku tries to think of a plan. Finally, she points and says, "We have to go that way." Mercan asks, "Are you sure?" "Yes."
Ayla, Betul, and Sevgi are now in the principal's office, along with Captain Hussein and another officer. Hussein is trying to calm Ayla down. He's sure that the police will soon find Ilayda and the others. Demir is running madly from one locale to another, stopping people and asking whether they've seen a girl about so tall with a boy. No one has seen them. Then he comes upon the three boys who made Oyku, Mercan, and Ilayda leave. Yes, the boys say, we've seen them. They went that way, pointing. Meanwhile, Ugur is showing a photo of Oyku to passers-by with no success.
Although Oyku told Mercan she was sure of the way to go, she finds that she may have been mistaken. Mercan says maybe she got confused. Oyku and Ilayda start to cry. But then Oyku hears Demir calling "Oyku, Oyku." "Papa, we're here." He sees her and comes over. She tells him she was so scared. An angry Demir says "You don't know what it's like to be scared! Do you know how upset the parents are?" Demir calls Hussein to let him know that he's found the kids and they're OK. "You can tell the others. We're on our way."
Meanwhile, Ayla is in full Ayla mode, complaining about what a bad influence that badly brought up girl has been on her daughter. Candan objects and tells Ayla to stop saying such things. Ayla says, "Oh, I forgot, you're not her mother. What do you know about being a mother?" At this point, Hussein informs them that all is well. Demir has found them and is bringing them here.
We see Demir and the three kids on a bus. Oyku asks cheerily, "Where are we going, Papa?" Demir gives her a very cold look and says nothing. When they get back to the school, Demir says he found them on a street corner. They had lost their way home. Candan says, "They're fine. That's all that matters." Ayla goes ballistic again. "What did you say? How can you be so calm when my daughter was endangered by that girl. You should be begging forgiveness, but you won't because you haven't the morals to do so. All you do is protect that malcriada no matter what she does." Ayla then turns to Hussein and says that she wants to file a formal complaint. "That person kidnapped my daughter!" "What are you talking about?" Hussein replies. "It's over. Nothing bad happened. Go home and stop exaggerating." To my surprise, Demir then says, "Señora Ayla, you're right. We're sorry. I will talk to Oyku when we get home."
(I'm not sure I understand why he said this, especially in view of the outrageous claims Ayla was making. Is he afraid that she might file a formal complaint and it might jeopardize his having custody of Oyku?) At any rate, Ayla does seem somewhat pacified. She thanks him, and then she and Ilayda leave. Demir then thanks Hussein for all he has done. Hussein tells him, "Take care of yourself, and have a talk with you daughter. She shouldn't get into trouble." He turns to Oyku and says, "Behave yourself."
When they get home, Oyku apologizes to Demir. He says coldly, "Go to your room." Ugur tells Demir that Oyku is scared. Demir responds, "She has to learn how to be responsible." He goes into her room and asks, "Why did you leave school? Didn't I tell you every day not to leave school? Oyku responds, "I didn't do anything bad." Demir wants an answer to one question, "Why did you leave school?" Oyku explains, "I skipped the last period at school with Mercan so we could sell water and make money. But Ilayda overheard and wanted to come. We decided to sell tissues, because they'd be easier to carry. Mercan and Ilayda pooled their money so we could buy the tissues." Demir asks, "Why do you need money?" Somewhat reluctantly, Oyku tells him, "I heard you say to Candan that you needed money to rent a house." Demir is unnerved and embarrassed. In a much softer tone, he says, "We're going through a rough time. But it's my responsibility to get us out of this." Oyku replies, "I'm sorry for making you sad, Papa." "Go to sleep," Demir says. "It's late." He leaves without kissing her good-night. He tells Candan and Ugur that he needs to go outside to get some air.
Candan comes out to see how he is. "Are you OK?" "Yeah. She skipped school to earn money. A 9-year-old girl selling tissues because I don't have money. I don't want my daughter to go through this. I'll work like a slave if need be." Candan replies, "We'll do it together, Demir. We'll do what we have to to get out of this." Demir objects, "You're already doing what you can. You work at the clinic." Candan then tells him that the clinic was closed down. Why? They found a medicine I never bought. Who put it there? I have no idea. I didn't tell you before because I didn't want to disturb you. The clinic is closed for 15 days.
The scene shifts to Cemal, working at the door of Semih's restaurant. He seems to be doing a good job. Semih comes to see him and tells him that he needs two more employees, people he can trust the way he trusts Cemal. Cemal tells him, "I'll find them for you." (Yay!)
Oyku is lying in bed reciting the train stations. Demir comes into her room and asks her "Why were you reciting the train stations?" A very upset Oyku replies, "Do you know why I couldn't find my way back to school? I forgot the way! That never happened! Am I sick again?" Demir tells her she forgot because she's still young. It happens. Before, you were all alone, you had to depend on yourself, you had to remember the train stations. Now you're not alone, it's not as vital that you remember everything." He continues, "I'm the one who will bring in the money. You're the child of the house and I'm the father. Deal? Promise? Smile." She smiles. "Now get up and wash."
Cemal comes to Ugur's the next morning at breakfast time. He tells them that he's working at the restaurant of an old friend, as a security guard, and he's also found a place to live. " And I've found jobs for both of you. They need two more men."
The Three Musketeers take Oyku to school. After, they head off to Semih's restaurant. On the way, Demir tells them, "Something happened yesterday. I don't want to make too much of it, but...Oyku forgot the way back to the school. It's very strange. She always knows the way." Ugur says it's no big deal, she just forgot. He goes on to say, "You can call the doctor if you want, but don't exaggerate." Demir seems to feel better having told them of his worry. He does say, however, that he'll take Oyku to the doctor to be sure that it's nothing more.
They arrive at Semih's restaurant, which includes rooftop seating. Semih is there. Cemal tells him that these are the two men he mentioned. Semih tells them that Cemal speaks very highly of them, and if he trusts them, Semih will as well. Apparently the job will include both salary and insurance. Demir asks what kind of work is involved. Semih says one job is as a waiter. Demir is delighted. He tells Semih that he has experience as a waiter. Semih is pleased. The other job is in the kitchen, as a dishwasher. Ugur is less than thrilled, but he agrees to take it. They apparently start right away.
We see Demir working as a waiter. His phone rings. It's Oyku. She was worried about him. He tells her he has a job as a waiter and is already working. Her face lights up. Super!
Oyku and Candan go to a playground after school. A girl asks Oyku whether she'd like to join their volleyball game--they're one person short. Oyku happily joins them. At one point, someone hits the ball and it goes off the playing field. Oyku goes to retrieve it. As she picks it up, she sees a large white paper envelope lying on a bench. It clearly has something inside it. She throws the ball back to the other girls. She then looks around, and the background music becomes somewhat dramatic. She goes over to the envelope, picks it up, and looks inside as the episode ends.

Beautiful recap, Juanita, with a hint of snark. Thank you.
Notice that while Betul was worried about Mercan, she didn’t automatically accuse Oyku of anything and was annoyed at Ayla’s behavior.
I’m ok with Demir saying he would talk to Oyku and I’m glad he kept his temper under control. He shut Ayla up and got her to leave. But I wished he would have “suggested” that Alya needs to have a talk with her daughter, too.
Oh no, Oyku reciting the Metro stops. I hope it’s nothing serious.
Ha, ha, Ugur tried to get out of working when he asked, “who will pick up Oyku?” Cemal called him out and told Ugur he can’t get out of it! And yes, Ugur wasn’t too happy about washing dishes. I hope he doesn’t screw things up for Cemal and Demir. They need these jobs.
Let me know Juanita, would you like me to recap the two-hour episode on Friday? Would you be able to recap Thursday?

Thanks, deb, for keeping us informed. Everyone is waiting to see Carmen Villalobos as the baddie.
I'm curious about Colunga in Malverde, too.

Many thanks, dondi356, for your great comments. Like you, I'm fine with Demir saying he would talk to Oyku. What I'm not fine with is his saying "You're right, Sra. Ayla" right after she's told Hussein she wants to file a formal complaint, presumably because "that person kidnapped my daughter!" Just who "that person" refers to isn't wholly clear. Probably she's accusing Oyku of kidnapping!! Oyku, who really HAS been kidnapped, and more than once. Ayla is far far far from being right, IMHO. Yes, Demir's words did calm the maniac down, and I'm sure that was part of why he placated her, but still....
I'm really curious to know what's in that big white envelope. I couldn't help but think that whatever was in the envelope seemed to be about the size of a large pile of bill$. But that does seem unlikely. Then again, so much in this novela has seemed unlikely. :-)
Yes, I'm planning to recap Thursday's episode, as I usually do. I regret that you're getting stuck with a 2-hour episode on Friday, though frankly I can't think of anyone else who could handle it nearly as well as you. (And since there's no episode over the weekend, you should feel no pressure to get it done quickly.)
Juanita, great recap, thank you!
dondi, "Notice that while Betul was worried about Mercan, she didn’t automatically accuse Oyku of anything and was annoyed at Ayla’s behavior." Yes, I did! But Betul has always been so much more understanding and patient of Oyku; so I would have been more surprised if she had acted otherwise. I was a bit disappointed that the parents didn't have the kids explain what happened right then and there. I wanted Ayla to eat her words for accusing Oyku of "kidnapping" Ilayda. I too was glad that Demir opted to have a "talking to" with Oyku.
I'm thinking that the big white envelop has a good bit of money in it. If it is, what will OyKu do? I hope she tells Candan and Demir about it and NOT try to use it without their knowledge.
Again I felt sorry for Demir when Oyku explained why she wanted to sell tissue, but he handled it very well. I can understand why Oyku was worried about having a relapse, but why didn't Demir point out that Mercan and Ilayda didn't know the way back either?
Ugur washing dishes?? I had to laugh...and I too hope that he doesn't mess things up for his two amigos.
