Todo por mi hija - #84 - p 1 de 3

Oyku is waiting for Mercan and his mother to come by to pick her up for their day together. Ugur tells Oyku she looks very pretty. Oyku feels that perhaps she shouldn't go. Her father might call, and she wants to be here when he does. Ugur assures her, "If your father calls, I'll tell him that you love him and miss him a lot." Mercan and Betul arrive. Oyku goes to the car with Mercan. Once the children are out of earshot, Betul offers her condolences to Ugur.

Ugur's phone rings. It's Cemal. He tells Ugur "I'm on my way. We'll go together." Cemal picks up Ugur. In the car, Ugur says, "Tell me, Cemal, is this real? Are we really going to Demir's funeral?"

The scene shifts, and WE SEE DEMIR!! He's in an upstairs room of a house, and there are decorative iron bars on the window. Resat comes into the room. "How are you, Demir? Are you getting used to your new home?" Demir asks, "Why didn't you kill me?" We then get a flashback to the scene where Resat is pointing his gun at Demir's head, about to kill him. Thank goodness for cell phones: Resat's rings as he's about to pull the trigger. He answers it, while keeping the gun pointed at Demir. "What do you want, Arif? What are you saying? Are you joking? You owe me for this, Arif!" An angry Resat ends the call and shoots his pistol toward the sky. He then tells his men to take Demir in the car. The flashback ends.

Resat now answers Demir's question about why he didn't kill him. "I didn't kill you, but I had no choice. You're the first person who has messed with me that I didn't kill. Arif owed his life to your friend. And now they're even. But you're still a dead man. Your funeral is today!" Demir looks puzzled. Resat explains, "You burned to death in a car accident. Your friends identified your body." Demir is furious. "You psychopath!" he shouts. "I'm going to escape and let everyone know." Resat tells him that he'd better accept his situation, because if he tries to escape, his daughter, his wife, his friends, they'll all be assassinated. Resat then hands Demir some papers. One is an advertisement of an auction. It shows a very expensive necklace. Resat tells Demir he has to steal the necklace for Resat. Among the papers that Resat handed him were blueprints of the auction house. Demir agrees, "on one condition: I want to see my daughter, my friends, my wife, even if it's only from a distance." Resat agrees.

One of Resat's men drives Demir to the funeral. Demir wants to get out of the car and get closer. He assures the driver that he'll be right over there. He moves closer, and when he sees that the driver isn't looking, he leaves a piece of paper on Cemal's windshield.

Ugur starts to shovel dirt, but he's crying and can't continue. He speaks to the coffin: "You left too soon. What am I going to do with your daughter?" Sevgi tries to comfort him. He tells her, "My brother is gone. He won't be back." Demir returns to the car where the driver is waiting for him.

Cemal now comes to shovel some dirt. He asks for Demir's blessing, and he tells Demir, "Don't worry about Oyku. Trust me." Cemal too is now crying. He gets up and heads for his car. Candan kneels down and touches the dirt on the coffin. She too is crying. "There are so many things I wish I had told you. I wish I had hugged you more and told you I love you. Please forgive me, Demir." Over and over again, she asks to be forgiven. Then she says, "I haven't been able to tell Oyku that you're gone, because I don't want to believe it."

Cemal is about to get into his car when he notices the piece of paper on his windshield. He removes it, opens it up. It's an ad for the auction house where the necklace is. He puts it in his pocket.

Todo por mi hija - #84 - p 2 de 3

When the four friends get back to Ugur's house, Sevgi asks whether she should make some tea. Candan thanks her but says no. She then says that Dr. Ihsan said that they shouldn't tell Oyku right now, it might worsen her illness. They start talking about how they can pretend. Cemal is upset: "Demir deserves better!"

The doorbell rings. They all try to dry their tears and put on a good face for Oyku, who is returning from her day with Mercan and Betul. "How was it?" they ask her. Good, she says, but then she asks, "Did my father call?" "Not yet." Oyku looks at them. All four of them look unhappy. The perceptive Oyku sees this. They ask what she'd like to eat. She tells them she's not hungry, she ate stuff at the movie. Ugur says that's not nourishing food. He suggests a pizza party. Oyku brightens and decides perhaps she's hungry after all. Cemal says he has things to do, and he tells Oyku she can have his pieces of pizza. She looks at him and asks, "Are you OK?" He does his best to assure her he is, and he leaves. When he gets outside, he takes the paper he found on the windshield out of his pocket, looks at it, and throws it away!!! [I actually called out "Oh NO!"]

Demir demands that one of the guards gets Resat to come see him. The guard says to tell him what he wants, and he'll relay that to Resat. Demir insists that Resat come. He prevails, Resat comes. Demir tells him, "I have to go out. I need to inspect the place." Resat tells him that's not necessary, "you have the blueprints." "They're not enough," insists Demir. I have to check the surrounding area, and I want to see how to get in and out. You don't want me to make a mistake." Resat is still not happy with Demir's request. Demir adds, "If I were going to escape, I'd have done it at the funeral. That was my best chance." Resat tells the guard to give Demir a half hour to look over the site.

The scene shifts to a cafe. A very sad Cemal is seating at a table. Gradually, he hears two guys talking at a nearby table about something they see in the newspaper, a photo of a 16th-century necklace that will be in the auction. The opening bid will be 250 million. One guy says to the other, "I'm sure someone will try to steal it." Cemal gets up, walks over to their table, grabs the paper, and sees it's the same auction house that was in the piece of paper left on his windshield. He quickly gives the paper back and leaves the cafe.

Oyku and the others are playing a game of charades. Oyku wins and asks to play another game. They tell her she has to go to bed.

Demir is outside, supposedly checking out the surroundings. Under his breath, he says, "Cemal, solve the puzzle I left you." Cemal appears. Demir says, "Let's meet at the schoolyard. I have something to tell you." Cemal leaves, and then Demir starts to leave. The guard sees him and starts to give chase. Demir is now running as fast as he can to get away from the guard. Finally the guard seems to be gaining on him, grabs his navy blue hoodie--only to find that he's got the wrong guy. Demir has gotten away.

Back at Ugur's, Sevgi and Ugur leave. He'll accompany her back to her house. When they're gone, Oyku turns to Candan and says, "Candan, I relly miss my father a lot. I hope he'll come back soon." It's astonishing that Candan doesn't break down.

Todo por mi hija - #84 - p 3 de 3

Demir and Cemal meet at the schoolyard. Demir tells Cemal, "You saved me." He then asks how Oyku is. Cemal tells him she's fine, we haven't told her yet. He then asks Demir to tell him what happened. Demir says, "Resat is keeping me. No one can know." Cemal points out that they're all miserable, and he wants to tell them as soon as possible. Demir insists that he can't. If he does so, they'll all be killed. "But if my plan works, we'll be rid of them for good." Cemal is glad to hear that Demir has a plan. There's a flashback to when they were boys, and Demir had a plan, and he wouldn't let Cemal take the blame. "We're in this together." Now they discuss Demir's current plan. Demir tells Cemal, "I'll give the signal once I have the necklace. It will be easier if we do it together. We could protect each other if somethng were to happen."

Candan and Oyku are lying in bed. Candan is reading to her. Oyku asks why her father hasn't called. "You think he doesn't care about me any more?" Candan starts to say something about the boss, but Oyku interrupts and says no, his boss is very nice and understanding. "You're not lying, Candan, are you? Candan replies, "Why are you saying that? I'd never lie to you."

Demir comes back and finds the guard who had been running after him. "Here I am." "Where were you? Why are you so late?" asks the guard. Demir suggests that the guard tell Resat he lost sight of Demir and Demir came back voluntarily. Perhaps Demir won't be the only one Resat kills. Demir then proposes, "I won't say anything, and neither will you." It's a deal.

Candan is crying as Ugur returns. "I can't take it, Ugur," she sobs. Ugur hugs her and tries to comfort her.

At breakfast the next morning, Candan says she has to go to the clinic. She asks Oyku if she'd like to come. Cemal says no, he's taking Oyku somewhere else. To the park. He remembers his conversation with Demir. Demir told him, "I have to see my daughter, even if it's from afar. It may be the last time I see her." Cemal tells him, "Stop talking nonsense, and get such thoughts out of your head." He then grins at Demir and asks, "So where shall I bring her?"

Resat tells Demir to go to the auction house. Speak to one of my men about a uniform. And don't do anything stupid, Demir. Resat leaves, and Demir tells the guard he should take him somewhere else first. "Or do you want me to tell Resat you lost sight of me last night?" The guard agrees to do what Demir wants.

Cemal, Ugur, and Oyku go to the park. Cemal tells them to go ahead, he has to make a phone call. Cemal calls Demir to let him know where in the park Oyku is. He also tells him that Ugur is devastated. Demir says, "I know. We'll talk to him after this is over."

Ugur has been pushing Oyku on the swing. Suddenly she stops and looks very unhappy. "I want to go home," she says. "I miss my father. Why hasn't he come?" The question remains unanswered as the episode ends.

HIJA

Juanita, sensational recap! And I'm glad that this was not as depressing an episode as I thought It would be.

YAAAAYYY! YIPPEE! WOOHOOO! Demir lives! While this wasn't a total surprise, I'm glad the writers didn't wait longer to let us see Demir. It really helped make the funeral less depressing. I kept wondering why Resat would want to keep Demir alive and now we know; Arif came through. So does this mean that Arif will no longer support Cemal and supply him with money, living quarters and a car? What will these men do for a living after all the bad stuff passes?

And Ugghh! I was really hoping Resat had shot Ahmed and/or Faik! They won't rest until they get more vengeance.

Juanita, we were both shouting "NOOO!" when Cemal tossed the pamphlet, but when he was sitting at the restaurant, I suspected he would get a revelation. Thank goodness those men were coincidentally talking really loud.

I don't like that Demir asked Cemal not to tell Candan and Ugur that he is alive, but I can see his reasoning. Ugur would probably insist on helping on the night of the caper; and we do NOT want him there! When tey were having breakfast and Candan and Oyku left the room I really thought Cemal would tell Ugur but I'm glad he didn't.

Hija

Thanks so much for another great recap, Juanita! My TV reception was unstable last night and your detailed recap helped fill in a few gaps.

Thank goodness Demir is back! Grateful they didn’t drag this out. Not many people get to see their own funerals. And who’s body was in the burned out car? It would be convenient if it was Ahmed. I’m not so worried about Faik wanting revenge.

I have the same question as Rvg Chick. Is Cemal bound to be homeless, car-less and penniless? No matter, he is back with his brothers and they will get through it together.

Add me to the chorus of NOOOs when Cemal tossed the auction notice. Ha, the stars aligned to give Cemal the clue he needed. I loved the look on his face as he left the tea house. He knew Demir was alive.

I wonder how Demir plans to get rid of Resat, Ahmed and Faik? We are headed to the end, so I expect a positive outcome for our guys.

After the initial elation at seeing Demir alive, I’m sure Ugur will be pissed that Cemal kept it from him. I, too, thought Cemal might tell at the breakfast table, and I agree it really was better he didn’t. I could see Ugur blabbing prematurely and of course he would want to help.

Now I’m looking forward to watching and recapping tonight!

Thanks so much, Juanita! Fantastic work on the recap. I got a kick out of your all caps Demir revelation.

Well, as we all pretty much knew, Demir is not dead and currently plotting something against the baddies. This Resat is a very evil guy. Someone was burned up in that car. I'm hoping it was Ahmed.

A famous "attend your own funeral" was when Huckleberry Finn did so in Mark Twain's masterful American novel.

I also enjoyed Cemal's expression as he left the café.

We now have 3 rats. Ahmed (maybe), Resat, and Murat. The actor playing Resat is fantastic. I can't remember seeing an evil villain to match him. He's forced to let Demir live because of his partner Arif, but spins straw into gold by (he thinks) forcing a known smart thief, Demir, to steal things for him. AND, he got Mu-RAT's 100 million.

I believe they mentioned in one of the episodes about Oyku's taking medication. So I suppose the bone marrow transplant didn't give a complete cure. It's so very sad that Oyku keeps asking for her father, if only by phone.

I hope this dern caper doesn't take 3 episodes!

MANY THANKS, Rgv Chick, dondi356, and novelera, for your great comments. I'm sorry it has taken me so long to acknowledge them. This has been one crazy day for me.

Rgv Chick, I too was surprised and much relieved that the episode wasn't nearly as depressing as I had expected/feared. And I was especially surprised that we saw Demir pretty early in the episode. I thought that if they showed him at all, it would be at the very end. And I'm glad to know that I had company from you and dondi when I yelled "Oh NO!" at Cemal's tossing away the paper Demir cleverly left on his windshield.

dondi356, you and Rgv Chick both raised an interesting question about Cemal's future, now that he and Arif are "even." I hadn't thought that far ahead, but I think if I have faith in any of the Three Musketeers to succeed in a "normal" job, it's Cemal. Demir is often too hot-headed, and Ugur is too...Ugurish. I definitely agree with you and Rgv Chick that it's good that Cemal didn't tell Ugur about Demir.

novelera, I too am hoping that the caper won't be extended over three episodes. But there are still 7 episodes to go, and probably 6 of them need serious complications/problems that the Three Musketeers have to overcome. As for Oyku's continued need for medicine even after the bone marrow transplant, I have no idea what the actual medical situation is, but if the medicine helps her keep the disease at bay, it sounds good.

Hija #85 part 1

Slight rewind. Cemal, Ugur and Oyku are at the park.

Oyku wants to go home. She’s missing her dad. Why hasn’t he come back? Why hasn’t he called? He can’t call because he’s busy, says Ugur. Oyku wants to go see him. Ugur says they can’t go because she can’t miss school. Your friends miss you. Oyku asks him, are you hiding something from me? No, what would I hide, he says. Oyku is not happy. Ugur says, why don’t we sit. Oyku goes to sit at a table.

Demir says to Cemal, my daughter is there, and I can’t even go hug her. Cemal tells him to have patience; everything will be over this evening. Then you will be with your daughter and wife again.

Ugur asks Oyku if she wants some cotton candy. He gets some for her. Oyku again says, she wants to go home. Ugur tries to talk her into staying a little longer. They can people watch. Oyku wants to go and she gets up.

Cemal thinks Demir should leave before Oyku notices. He will see him later. Cemal walks away from Demir, towards Ugur and Oyku. Oyku looks past Cemal and she looks shocked. She drops her candy and says, dad? She takes off but Cemal stops her. I saw my dad, she exclaims! Cemal says, he’s not here, he’s in Izmit. They argue. She tries to break away.

We see Demir running up the stairs. Demir tells the guard let’s get out of here.

Oyku is still insisting she saw Demir. Ugur takes her by the hand and walks her over to where she thought she saw Demir. Cemal is hoping that Demir is gone. Demir is not there. But I saw him, says Oyku. Ugur explains, sometimes people imagine they see someone they miss a lot. Oyku repeats, but I saw him. Cemal tells her, I know you miss your dad a lot, but I promise, he will be back soon. Oyku questions this, he will be back, right? All you do is lie to me. She runs from them. Ugur asks Cemal how long are we going to lie to her? He goes chasing after Oyku.

They arrive home. Cemal tells Oyku he will go to Izmit. I will get your dad and come back, he says. Really, she asks? Yes, but you must not tell anyone. This is our secret. She nods yes. I promise I’ll bring your dad home. Dry your tears.

Cemal tells Ugur he’s leaving. Ugur wants to know where he is going. Cemal says he has a job and Ugur senses something is up. He asks Cemal what he is going to do. You get mysterious phone calls, now you say you have a job. Ugur warns him not to do anything stupid. Cemal assures him not to worry.

We see Cemal pull up to the auction site. He’s thinking back to Demir’s plan: the item to be auctioned will be brought to the hotel tomorrow morning, says Demir. It’s a necklace from the Ottoman Era. The security is very high. It’s impossible to take. So Demir had a fake made. (just like that?) Resat’s man will leave it in the restroom but I will not have time to take it. Cemal says don’t worry, he will get the fake and get it to Demir somehow. Cemal asks, how will we exchange the necklaces? Demir says Resat will have another guy at the hotel. We will get rid of him after we steal the necklace. (what does he mean by get rid of him?) That’s it, what do you think, he asks Cemal.

Cemal enters the venue. He looks very nice in his suit.

The event manager is giving final instructions to the servers, including Demir. We see a close up on the ID badge that’s clipped to her skirt. I guess Demir is going to take that from her somehow.

Cemal goes to the bathroom stall and gets the fake.

The guests start arriving for the auction. Demir is standing next to the manager as she greets them. Cemal walks in. Resat walks in. Demir looks unpleasantly surprised to see him (I’m not sure why. Was Resat not supposed to be there?). The auction starts. Demir serves the guests. Resat eyes Demir.

dondi356

Hija #85 part 2

Demir goes over to Cemal. Resat is here, he says. Cemal has put the fake on Demir’s tray and he pockets it. The manager stands next to Demir. Another worker comes over to ask the manager to sign the guest list. Demir takes the opportunity to steal her badge.

Resat’s man goes over to him. Resat asks him if everything is ready. Yes, he says, they will cut the lights when you give the signal. When Demir is in position I’ll give the signal.

Candan is on the couch, Oyku is leaning on her lap reading. Ugur is in a chair, lost in thoughts. Candan calls to him and asks him if he’s ok. He says he’s ok he’s feeling a bit short of breath; must be the weather. He gets up and goes to the window. He spies Lucky outside and bolts to the door! Oyku asks what happened. He scoops up Lucky and hands him over to Oyku. Lucky! See he came back! Oyku says, now that Lucky is home, he will bring us good luck and dad will be back soon. Candan gets upset and goes back in the house. Ugur sees her crying in the bathroom.

Back to the auction and it is time for the necklace. Demir and Cemal nod to each other. Demir uses the badge to slip out of the room. The necklace is sold. Demir makes his way down a long hallway and hides at the end. Resat gives a signal to his guy. Now this seems strange to me—the auction worker walks down the same hallway, alone, with the necklace. (If this necklace is so valuable, why is he by himself? No security around him.) The lights go off. Demir walks past the guy with the necklace and knocks him over. The lights come back on. This only takes seconds.

The auction continues. Demir returns to the auction room. The worker runs in and whispers to the auctioneer. An order is given to close the doors. It seems there was an incident when the lights were out. The auctioneer asks everyone to stay at their tables while they get an explanation. Demir motions for Cemal to come to him. They try to leave but security comes in and tells them the exits are locked. The guard takes the ID from Demir.

Demir says, it's tough luck. He tells Cemal, we have to split up; we have no choice. Cemal takes the necklace from Demir and puts it in his pocket. Demir stares at him. Cemal tells him, I promised your daughter that you would come back. Now go. Cemal walks over to Resat, bumps into him and slips the necklace into his pocket.

The auctioneer makes the announcement that there has been a robbery. He asks for everyone’s cooperation. The police come into the hall and start searching the guests. Demir sees Cemal being searched and he starts walking over to him. He’s clean! Cemal gives Demir a sly look. Resat is searched and, lo and behold, the necklace is in his pocket! Demir is shocked.

Resat claims this is a misunderstanding. The officer says you can explain down at the station. They lead Resat away. As he passes Demir, he says, this is not over, kid. (I needed my beanie for this caper! It didn’t quite make sense.)

Resat is brought into the station. He yells, do you know who I am? You are in big trouble! I want my lawyer! Demir and Cemal follow in right after. Look at that pig scream, says Cemal, we should have made him scream more, but the law can take care of him now. Demir says, why did you take such a risk? What if you couldn’t put the necklace in his pocket? Cemal smiles and says, he’s not stupid; he planned it this way from the start. Demir is puzzled.

Huseyin is pleased they finally caught Resat. He will pay dearly for kidnapping his daughter. Demir and Cemal enter his office. He gives them a warm greeting. Great job boys, he tells them. Demir says we didn’t do anything. What do you mean, Huseyin says, you risked your lives to get Resat! Demir says he didn’t do anything; it was all Cemal’s plan. Huseyin says, you don’t know how long we’ve been trying to catch this guy. When Cemal came and told me about it I had doubts it would work.

dondi356

Hija #85 part 3

Flashback: Huseyin tells Cemal, you’re going to risk your life! I know, says Cemal, but if we don’t do something, Demir could get hurt. Can you do what you say, asks Huseyin? I will, answers Cemal, all you need to do is arrive on time. I’ll turn in Resat with my own hands.

Huseyin congratulates them again. Cemal says they were glad to help. Demir asks what will happen to Resat. He won’t get away with this, right? No, says Huseyin, he was caught red handed and he kidnapped people. Faik and Ahmed were also involved, and they will pay for what they did.

Demir thanks Huseyin. He asks if they can go; he’s anxious to see Oyku. Huseyin says they need to give their statements first. Then he says, ok you can go but come tomorrow and give Oyku a kiss from me. Demir is grateful, he promises to be there first thing and they leave.

Demir stops. We are going home but Candan and Ugur think I’m dead. It will be a big deal for them. We can’t just show up. Cemal says don’t worry, he took care of that, too. He already told Ugur and he’s sure Ugur told Candan. They are waiting for you. They won’t think they saw a ghost.

Candan is pacing anxiously. Oyku comes in to say goodnight, she’s going to bed. Ugur says, why don’t you stay up a little longer. Candan says it’s ok. Oyku is puzzled and she says, normally you get mad at me if I stay up late; now you say I can stay up? No school tomorrow? You will go to school, says Candan, but stay up with us. They fumble to explain, but then there is a knock at the door. Candan excitedly says, they are here! Who is here, asks Oyku. Go ahead and look, says Candan.

Oyku opens and Demir comes through the door. Dad! They give each other a big hug. With tears in her eyes, Candan hugs Demir. Then a hug for Ugur, too. Oyku asks why Candan and Ugur missed her dad so much. Demir says, it’s like they haven’t seen me in years. They go to the living room. Demir sits on the couch, Oyku on his lap and Candan next to him.

Ugur questions Cemal, why didn’t you tell us anything; we were so worried. (Ugur, shut up!) Demir tells him they will talk about it later. Oyku wants to know why Demir left without telling anyone. He tells the story about the restaurant in Izmit. Oyku wants to know why he didn’t call. He did but she was either asleep or at school. Don’t worry, I’m here now. I don’t want you to leave again, says Oyku. Me neither, princess, says Demir. The family of three cuddle together. Cemal and Ugur smile.

Demir brings a glass of milk to Oyku in bed. She asks him why he was gone so long. He had a lot of work to do. Then she asks for her pismaniye (cotton candy). Cemal said you were going to bring me some when you came home. He says he got her one, but she can’t eat it now. Demir says, let’s read a book. Oyku reminds him that her books burned in the house fire and she finished the one with Candan. Oyku says, since there’s no book…. Demir says he’s bad a making up stories, but then he starts, once upon a time there was a warrior princess and her dear father who loved her very much…

Once Oyku is asleep, Demir comes back to the living room. Ugur tells him, now you are going to hear it. What were you thinking? We all went crazy thinking you were dead! Then he turns to Cemal, how could you hide what was going on? (we all know why) And without me? How could you do that, Demir? Demir doesn’t argue, he tells Ugur he is right. He should have told Ugur and Candan but he needed them to take care of Oyku. Cemal backs Demir up on this. He tells Ugur, you are her favorite uncle; she would feel safe with you. Still, Ugur wishes they told him.

dondi356

Hija #85 part 4

Candan grabs Demir’s arm and asks if everything is over. Yes, it is. Ugur pipes up, be grateful we are happy, or I would have beat you up. Demir and Candan can’t take their eyes off each other. Cemal is smiling. He says he’s leaving, and he suggests that Ugur go to bed because it’s late. Ugur wants to stay up a little longer to spend time with Demir. Cemal shoots him a look and finally Ugur realizes that Demir and Candan should have alone time.

Demir and Candan cuddle. Thank God, says Demir, home sweet home. Candan says but we don’t have a home. That’s not true, says Demir, you’re my home. My daughter, my loved ones, my friends. How could I not feel at home if you are with me? A little kiss. (Very sweet scene. I was hoping for a little bit more, but I’ll take it)

Next morning, Oyku wakes up to find Demir and Candan snuggled on the couch. She climbs up to join them. Ugur comes out of his room and smiles at the happy family. Ugur takes pictures of them and some selfies. Then we see a happy morning routine. Oyku asks Demir if she can have the day off to stay with him. No, she’s already missed too many days and he has to go to the restaurant. Things have to get back to normal. She asks if he can take her to school. Ugur wants to go with them but this is going to be special father, daughter time.

As they walk, Oyku tells her father that while he was gone Betul took her and Mercan to the movies. Demir can tell she’s planning something. What if we go to the movies with Mercan, she asks? Sure, I’ll take you to the movies, says Demir. No, I mean let’s go with Mercan, she says. I was sad when you were gone. They took me to the movies to cheer me up. Let’s go with Mercan, please. Demir reluctantly gives in. Demir goes over the rules. He gives her money to buy milk. She only takes what she needs and goes up the stairs. Demir looks worried as he walks away.

Demir shows up at Kemal’s restaurant. The chef can’t believe his eyes, Demir? Kemal rises from his seat, Demir? Kemal starts shouting at Demir, get out of here! Out! Out! Go back where you came from! The chef gives Demir a big hug. Is he real, asks Kemal? I’m not a ghost, says Demir. He gives Kemal a hug. They missed him a lot.

Candan opens the clinic. Mu-Rat scurries up behind her, good morning Candan. He asks if Demir is back. How are things? She tells him, you already know. What else do you want me to tell you? We can talk out here if you want.

They are sitting. The Rat says, see? You were worried for no reason. No reason? Yes, Demir is still alive, says Mu-Rat, he was just playing with us. All that guy does is fool everyone. (The Rat must be ticked he didn’t get his 100 million worth with Demir’s demise. He’s disgusting.) Candan says, thank God he’s fine and still alive. Mu-Rat tells her, when you were kidnapped, you can’t imagine how scared I was. Well, says Candan, it’s all over now. What do you mean? You get in trouble, I lose my mind and now it’s over, he asks?

How long will we go on like this, he asks her. Go on like what, she replies, I don’t understand. (good grief, girl! Ask him to leave, now!) Mu-Rat pleads, come on Candan, don’t do this to me. What am I doing to you, she asks? You know I like you, The Rat tells her, you know I’m in love with you. You know I would do anything for you. (uh,oh) You don’t know how much money I gave for your rescue. So what, she responds, are you expecting something in exchange for your money? He denies this.

Candan tells him, I’m not interested in you romantically. I don’t feel anything special. She continues, I can’t pay you back for the help you have given me. No one has looked out for me like you have. No one has helped me so much in my life. So then, why not, he asks her, is it because of that guy? That thief? That con artist? She tells him, I love Demir.

And we are out.

Wow, dondi356, what a great recap of an amazing episode! I'm so glad you finally got a heart-warming episode after the very depressing ones you've had to deal with lately.

I'm also glad you said you had need of your beanie last night. So did I! In fact, I still can't quite figure out how the plot was supposed to work, nor how it did. I don't remember--was the fake necklace part of Resat's plan or only part of Demir's? Either way, I'm not sure I understand how it was supposed to work? In theory, Demir would have had to replace the real necklace with the hastily-made fake one so no one would be aware that the real one had been stolen. But when would he have had such a chance? Also, Cemal removed the fake necklace from the bathroom, as planned, but he puts it on Demir's tray and Demir pockets it. Did Demir expect to have a chance to substitute the fake necklace for the real one? Did he leave the fake necklace when he stole the real one in the dark corridor? If he had, would the courier immediately know that it was a fake, or would he just think someone bumped into him but fortunately the necklace is still here?

I now see why they showed that flashback (in the previous episode) of Demir and Cemal as kids. It showed the strong loyalty of the two boys to each other, their unwillingness for either of them to let the other take the blame, and their feeling that things always work out better when they work together. We saw all of that play out in the necklace caper.

So now I have just one big question: last night's episode almost felt like the gran final, but there are 6 episodes to go. Does that mean that Our Heroes will face yet another problem or two before the gran final on the 25th?

Hija

Thanks, Juanita! Great observations!

I have all the exact same questions regarding the necklace caper. There were so many holes in that plot, it didn’t make sense. Maybe there was something edited out from the original? I won’t bother to look. I’ll just accept that the baddies are gone.

As for your question of what’s left, they still need to call pest control for The Rat. I think he might make trouble for another episode or two. Demir and family need a place to live. We will likely have wedding plans for Ugur and Sevgi. When Ugur is involved there are always complications. I don’t know what else could happen. Something with Oyku? Something with Cemal? Would Asu come back? (hope not) Whatever it is, now I think we are getting a good ending.

Hija

Stellar recap, Dondi! I've missed commenting - we've had to record the shows, and were a little behind until now. I love how you said that when Candan was opening up her shop, "Mu Rat scurries up behind her"! Just like the rat that he is. I laughed out loud at Kemal's reaction to seeing the "dead" Demir, ordering the ghost out of his restaurant! :)

I agree with you both that it was difficult to tell which part of the caper was Resat's plan, and which was Demir's. We know which part of the plan Cemal was handling, and that was to set up Resat for a long prison term, which made me very happy.

Other things: The burned body in the car remains a mystery as Capt. Hussein alludes to the fact that both Ahmed and Faik will pay for their involvement.

I've been spending quite some time trying to figure out exactly how this was set up. I pointed out to my wife that I believed Cemal might actually be in on this from the beginning; after all, how could he identify a body burned beyond recognition? I don't think the show explained this, but my guess is that after Arif called Resat to cash in his favor and not kill Demir, that Arif then called Cemal and told him that he was able to save Demir from being killed.

We thought that for a truly happy ending that perhaps the show could have closed after this episode. There's still too much time for something bad to happen.

HOORAY to Candan for FINALLY telling the Rat that she loves Demir. Now maybe she can finally feel like she doesn't owe him anything more and will stop going on these ridiculous dates with him.

I missed Sevgi in this episode. I want to see both these couples work on their relationships a bit more. I want to see them finally explain to the women how it was that they got involved in all this. Candan and Sevgi deserve a better explanation as to why they were kidnapped and their lives put in danger, and they need to know that there are no more enemies out there (once Resat, Faik and Ahmed are put in jail, and now that Cemal is a good guy now) to screw up their lives.

Last little point: I feel like the show has translated everything Turkish into Spanish very well (except for names and place names, which makes sense), except in this episode, they didn't translate cotton candy like they have before, and left in the Turkish word "pismaniye". I wonder if Telemundo goofed or if that was intentional.

Such a fantastic, thorough recap, dondi! I was baffled by where the real necklace was. Somehow I didn't quite understand Demir having gotten the necklace from that guy in the hallway. But I did know that Cemal put the real necklace in Resat's pocket. I just didn't grasp how he'd gotten it.

And the fact that Huseyin knew what Cemal was going to do made it perfect. Apparently Resat has been able to get away with his crimes for a very long time. It sounded like Huseyin was going to add kidnapping and extortion to jewelry theft. They probably won't show it, but Resat spoke to Candan and Sevgi so they definitely can testify against him.

And I am SO happy the caper is over. I also don't know what roadblocks can be thrown in the path of our protagonists for one week, but we'll see. And ditto on Cemal's wisdom in keeping Ugur in the dark!

Dondi, I loved "call pest control for The Rat". Finally, finally Candan told him how she feels about Demir and he should just stop already. And, since he insisted on having Oyku's treatment described on television, he can't stop Ihsan from treating her.

Again, a very satisfying episode indeed!

HIJA

Good Morning, Hija patio!

dondi, how else can I say that your recap is simply amazing; and I had the same questions you posed throughout...so I too wore my beanie throughout the whole caper.

I'm not exactly sure what Demir's plan was, but from what I gathered, it went down the tubes when Resat showed up to the auction. I don't think that the fake necklace was part of Resat's plan. When Demir had time to have it made or how he paid for it is also a mystery to me, but if it had been Resat's idea, there would be no question. I think Demir was probably not even going to attempt to steal the real necklace and was just going to take the fake necklace to Resat, but when Resat showed up, Demir had no choice but to steal the real necklace. That the worker took the necklace down the corridor by himslef was not as surprising to me, since only a select few had access to the hallway. The look on Demir's face when Cemal took the necklace from his pocket indicated to me that he thought Cemal was going to take the fall for him, but slick Cemal must have already had a back-up plan. Yay, Cemal!! AND BTW, Cemal did look quite handsome in that suit :-)

dondi, I too laughed at your references to the RAT. Poison would be good! Candan should have some and easily slip some into his tea, but Candan is too naive and good to do something like that.

Ken, I really don't think Cemal was in on the plan from the beginning; he was too emotional even when he was alone, but ITA with your "HOORAY to Candan for FINALLY telling the Rat that she loves Demir." YESSS!! FINALLY!

I also agree that this episode could have been a gran final, but there are still many things that could happen. I don't know why Demir told Candan that everything was over; maybe just to ease her anguish. I'm sure Resat has "friends" and minions who could carry out a vengeance plan. And then there is Ahmed, who easily evaded the cops when they were first looking for him. And how will Arif feel about Cemal's role in bringing down his associate?

Good GAWD, dondi, I hope there is no return for Asu!! Possible things to look forward to are Ugur's and Sevgi's wedding (maybe0, some nice family time with the happy reunited couple and Oyku, maybe a nice girl for Cemal?, and the three amigos opening some type of successful business.

Hija

I like your idea about the Three Musketeers opening a business together, Rgv Chick. It would be good if all three could be gainfully employed. I'm not sure that Cemal and Ugur have ever had a legitimate, legal job in their lives. (Selling watches on the street out of a briefcase is questionable).

Ken

Hija

Thank you, Ken, novelera and Rvg Chick. Interesting observations, all of you.

Ken, I think the burned body will remain a mystery. Maybe the identity ended up on the cutting room floor. Maybe it didn’t matter enough in the storyline. I couldn’t understand how Cemal could positively identify someone who was “unrecognizable”. That was a beanie a moment for me. We didn’t see another conversation between Cemal and Arif. IIRC, Arif wasn’t even sure that he could persuade Resat to spare Demir.

IIRC, Ugur told Candan that Ahmed killed Demir’s father. That could be all the explanation we see her receive. We might have to take it on faith there were “off camera” explanations. I think the remaining eps are going to focus a lot more on the couples. Demir and Candan will have a real marriage now and Sevgi and Ugur will probably get married.

It was strange to hear "pismaniye" mentioned. I thought I was hearing things at first. As a side point, I find it unfortunate when things get lost in translation (google is somewhat helpful). Especially in this show since we are going from Turkish to Spanish to English. It is always good to have some knowledge of the original language and culture. It’s great to have a place like Caray to share this knowledge.

Great point, novelera, about Mu-Rat not being able to obstruct Oyku’s treatment! Unfortunately, I don’t think he will take Candan’s rejection well and he’s not done messing with Candan and Demir.

Rvg Chick, your explanation of the necklace caper made some sense out of a very confusing sequence of events. Thanks for that! Anxious to see what’s in store for Cemal. I’m liking him a lot these days.

I've been thinking a lot about Cemal lately, and I'm kinda nervous. Demir and Candan have each other, as do Ugur and Sevgi (especially now that her father seems to be on board). But poor Cemal has no romantic partner. I was (and perhaps still am) worried that something terrible would happen to him so that he'd be out of the picture at the end. But Rgv Chick's "Good GAWD, dondi, I hope there is no return for Asu!!" made me worry whether that's what the writers have in mind. Let's remember that Cemal had been in love with her. OTOH, she's the one who called the cops, resulting in Cemal's spending eight years in prison. Plus she's really a lost alcoholic soul. Cemal deserves better! Still, Rgv Chick, finding "a nice girl for Cemal?" this coming week seems improbable (as your question mark suggests). I know that telenovela airlines and telenovela medicine can work at astonishing speed, but a telenovela romance with only five episodes to go before the gran final? So I'm worried about Cemal.

HIJA

Oh, Juanita, I do hope it's just your nerves about Cemal. I would hate for Asu to be Cemal's fate; he (now) deserves so much better. I'm not really anticipating a full-blown romance for Cemal, but if there is an Ugur/Sevgi wedding, maybe Sevgi has a cousin, co-worker, or friend who will attend the wedding and catch Cemal's eye. That's all I could expect; just a tiny ray of hope for a HEA for Cemal too. Oh, and there's also Candan's friend who invited her to go work in Brussels...or wherever it was that Candan wanted to runaway to.

hija

Rgv Chick, I like your idea of there being at least the start of a possible relationship. As I think I've said before, I have an overactive imagination of disaster, and I'm hoping that it proves to be wrong, as it often does. But....
(That last word was written by my overactive imagination of disaster.)

HIJA

OHMMMM....OHMMMM....OHMMMM...Sending good vibes your way, Juanita :-D
