Good morning all! I have combined scenes to help me keep track of everything, please feel free to fill in my gaps.
Part 1:
We begin at Chisme Headquarters, aka Global Radio, as Mati and Rox tell Loli the latest gossip about the video depicting Paloma and Ricardito rocking the Kasbah in the control room.
Loli realizes that the video, based on the date and time, is not of these two innocent victims of gossip but of her and Rafa. Loli runs to Rafa’s office and tells him what has happened. He is less upset that Loli and says it was all worth it, but Loli can’t believe she allowed this to happen in “her” place of work. They both agree that somehow they need to make sure that Paloma and Ricardito are redeemed and then ensure the video is erased and destroyed from the security footage.
Rafa tries to convince Pancho the security guard that the video must be erased. Pancho, who is suddenly Mr. Professional, tells Rafa that only Vicente can authorize the destruction of confidential video footage and denies that anyone else has seen the video. Pancho attempts to make the call, but Rafa stops him and says that he will speak with Vicente personally to get permission. Later, we see Rafa searching the internet about how to destroy video footage. He even brings up Vicente’s cell number, but opts not to call.
A lot of time is spent retelling the scandalous video story from employee to employee and cubicle to cubical, with the metiche Lupe adding more details to the story. Poor Paloma is dazed and confused as no one believes that she was not the one in the control room that night. Her boyfriend, Pablo, doesn’t believe her either. Rox, to her credit, comes to the table and asks Lupe who has actually seen the video? Maybe it doesn’t exist?
Rox uses her talents to bring the Global Radio team together and scold them all for the way that they are dragging Paloma’s name through the mud and saying little about Ricardito, because he is man, but both are innocent. The group ends the meeting chanting “Paloma and Ricardo didn’t do it!!” Despicable Angie, is part of the meeting but whispers “if they only knew who it really was” of course in ear shot of Lupe.
Part 2:
Loli is listening to all of this and when Lupe declares that the ones who did “do it” needed to confess or she was not going to sleep because the values and morals of Global Radio are in jeopardy. There is a discussion about starting a petition insisting the guilty pair come forward and when they do, Paloma can sue them for defamation.
Loli jumps in and says that is taking things too far for a simple confusion as she stands next to Paloma and realizes they are the of similar height and build. Angie is quick to clue into this comparison. As the passion for the petition increases through the voices of Rox and Mati, Loli pulls them both aside and calls a “Code Red.”
She confesses to them that it was her and Rafa in the control room that night. Of course, both Rox and Mati are outraged that she didn’t share this juicy news immediately with them, with details and they had to find out through office gossip! The discussion turns to how to destroy the video. Rox and Mati quickly declare that they are Loli’s Angels, taking the pose and stance of the former Charlies Angels.
Rox and Mati immediately go to Pancho the security guard and come up with another story of why they need a copy of the video. Somehow Rox manages to get him to spill the beans that he did tell Tania about the video and gave a copy to Angie. Angie!!! Not Angie! Rox and Mati run off to find that USB on Angie’s desk, with Rox even rummaging through Angie’s purse!
Of course, they are busted by Angie, they make up another story about why they are pilfering her desk. Angie tells them to just ask next time. Rox and Mati run off and to Mati’s credit, he did find a USB. They run off to find a place to look at the video, of course it is not an office with real walls, but a conference room, with large windows, in the main hallway, where everyone, including Paulina can see them. The USB in question does not contain the video but promotional marketing material.
Paulina meets with Angie in the control room to begin her program. Angie asks if she and Rafa are still planning that second honeymoon. Paulina covers well and says “of course!” Angie reminds her that she is willing to plan the trip. Angie has a strange look on her face, stranger than normal.
Part 3:
While all of the craziness of looking to destroy the video is going on, Loli decides to join a sad looking Paloma, sitting alone at a table in the employee break room. She discovers that Paloma isn’t sad because Pablo dumped her, but because her Father is very ill and she is worried about paying for his expensive treatment and medication. Loli, (in an attempt to assuage her guilt?), offers to put a Go Fund Me page together to help raise money for Paloma’s dad.
We take a break in the porno video scavenger hunt and head off to Hunky Bar where apparently today there is a matinee show in the middle of the day. We see a little bit of fun and dancing but that is interrupted by Apolo rushing in to tell Octavio that Gabriel is up on the rooftop shooting off a gun!
Octavio finds a drunk Gabriel taking pot shots at the gang members. In a strange conversation, Gabriel tells Octavio that he is just trying to protect him from the gang because Octavio is the only person who has ever cared for him. Octavio wrestles the gun away and sends Gabriel back in as the sound of police sirens round the corner.
Octavio is able to convince the police that there are the sounds of gunshots all around the bar all the time and everything as fine. (Speaking of fine, the two police officers looked like they would fit right in on the stage of Hunky Bar). Octavio sends the police away with the offer of drinks and a VIP table for them and their wives at any time.
Back at Chisme HQ, Rafa tells Loli that he wasn’t able to destroy the video but they can meet for tacos and drinks later that evening. Loli continues putting together the Go Fund Me page for Paloma and is interrupted by Pauline carrying “the” USB.
Paulina, in a smirkingly sweet voice asks Loli how her daughter is and then proceeds to let lecture Loli on how important it is for them to get along now that she and Rafa are an item. Pau recommends telling Jess as soon as possible if they haven’t already and playing with the USB in her hand, finally drops the bomb that she knows Loli and Rafa are the ones having sex on the video and Loli allowed Paloma to take the hit without coming clean.
Part 4:
Paulina gives Loli the what for and states and she is sure that the judge in the custody hearing wouldn’t appreciate knowing the details of Loli’s promiscuity. Loli would be sure to lose custody of Nicky and Sam if the details were exposed.
Paulina leaves the USB with a crestfallen Loli, claiming she does not want to hurt Jessica and asks Loli to do the same or else Paulina will have a huge problem with her. Pau smiles smugly and slinks out of the office.
Rafa comes by at the end of the day for Taco Night. Loli declines and says that she wants to be with the kids the evening before the hearing. Rafa tells her everything will be okay.
Cut to Rox’s apartment where she and Mati are talking to Loli via speaker phone. Loli tells them that Paulina gave back the USB and just warned her to be careful. Mati said he didn’t trust Paulina as she was as fake as her podcast. Knock on the door, it is David. Rox tries to continue the charade that she has dumped him in front of Mati but both are pretty astute to her game. David claims he has really tried to change for her, but clearly, she is the one who has changed, but for the worse. He leaves, Mati consoles Rox.
Loli arrives home to Nicky playing video games, Norita scowling watching TV and complaining about noise. Loli visits Jess and Sam who are swooning over their “boyfriends” pictures and talking about doing it for the first time with Gus and Pete. Loli tries to be supportive, but Sam cuts her off. Jess tells Sam that Loli really is trying. Sam says it doesn’t matter, the hearing is the next day and nothing will change.
We arrive at the hearing where Loli is nervously talking to Rafa on the phone. He says everything will be okay and hey let’s celebrate you getting custody by leaving the kids alone for a few days and we take a trip alone. (Que The Heck Rafa? Really?).
We end the show with the judge asking Loli if she is ready to guide the children and is physically, emotionally stable, has a secure income, does not drink and has impeccable moral standards? Not sure Rox and Mati the Loli’s Angels can help her out of this one.
Wow, this recapping stuff is hard to do! I really, really appreciate all of you who recap consistently. I think I got a little carried away in describing everything so hopefully you all are okay with me taking so much literary license. 😊 Please fill in anything I missed as there were a few conversations I had a hard time comprehending even with the CC.
First time out and you delivered an absolute gem of a recap, VVS! Great detail, great descriptions, lots of fun snark. “Chisme Headquarters”… “porno video scavenger hunt”… Congratulations!
This episode made me very angry. Stupidity abounds.
Hello, HR department? This workplace is toxic! Every time Lupe comes on screen, I want to FF. I detest her.
“Loli can’t believe she allowed this to happen in “her” place of work” and I can’t believe it either. These two idiots behaved like hormonal teens and sorry, they should pay the price. At least Loli realized it. Rafa says it was worth it? OMG…. Remember that saying, don’t sh*t where you eat?
So Rafa’s ready for “Taco Night”? Loli says “Loli Aguilar y taco?” but they dropped the “and ” in the English subs… lol… I think that’s what Rafa really wants anyway. Good grief. I’m losing respect for him.
dondi356
OMG, VVS, you've been deceiving us! Under that modest manner exists a superb recapper! Who knew?
As you may have guessed, I LOVED your recap! It was clear, detailed, and delightfully snarky. A perfect combination! I knew right from the start, when I saw "Chisme Headquarters, aka Global Radio." I also loved your observation that "Angie has a strange look on her face, stranger than normal." YES! And I was delighted that you commented on Rafa's totally absurd and inappropriate suggestion that they celebrate Loli's not-yet-custody-win by leaving the kids alone and just the two of them taking a trip together. Thank you, thank you, thank you for "(Que The Heck Rafa? Really?)" Indeed!
I think I enjoyed your recap considerably more than I enjoyed the episode. What's up with Gabriel? Do we really need more weird complications to this already crazy plot? It's true that some of the plot elements are already becoming rather tired, such as Rox and David, almost everything involving Bruno, etc. etc. But IMHO the answer isn't to add more weirdness.
One small clarification. You say that Sam and Jess are "talking about doing it for the first time with Gus and Pete." That may make it seem as if they've already done it and are talking about how it was. I know that wasn't what you meant, and it doesn't HAVE to mean what I said, but it might have been a bit clearer to say something like "talking about their wish to do it for the first time with Gus and Pete" or "wondering whether they should do it for the first time with Gus and Pete" or whatever. I dunno. I think I'm making too much of this. Oh well....
Anyway, let me say again how much I enjoyed and admired your recap. I hope you'll continue!!
Thank you dondi356 and Juanita for the nice compliments. I enjoyed doing the recap and will continue the Monday episodes if you will have me.
dondi356, isn’t Lupe just awful! There apparently is no HR department at Global Radio.
I almost got the Taco y Loli reference, but I wasn’t quite sure.
Rafa is starting to disappoint me as well. I have never understood folks who take sexual liberties at their place of business. It is too risky especially since both of them knew there was a camera in the control room. Both Rafa and Loli acted stupidly.
I was just grateful I didn’t have to recap Bruno/Marc/Melissa and just had a snippet of
Norita.
Juanita thank you for the pointers on clarifying what Jess and Sam were discussing regarding Gus and Pete. I didn’t adequately convey that that scene very well. I am glad you enjoyed the recap. You ladies are pros, so thanks for giving the newbie props.
Wow! I completely echo dondi's rave review of your very first recap! I'm just sorry you got such a stupid episode. Really, your talents were wasted. I was actually thinking that as I watched. Poor VVS, having to put words to this dreck. But you did a fantastic job...lemons...lemonade, etc.
So...what was the point of Pau forking over the thumb drive (did they say that in English?)? She layered on a huge pile of guilt and then just gave Loli the evidence?
So the judge at the "audience" looks as nasty as Berta. Why would a family court judge be so "judgmental"?
I liked Paloma's saying that Pablo wasn't really worth it if he wouldn't believe her. And I'm sure Loli will manage to get her father's treatment covered with charitable donations.
Novelera, you bring up some great questions that I also had with the episode. What exactly was Paulina trying to do with the USB evidence? Yes, I did hear the thumb drive reference in English a couple of times.
Speaking of English, why was the whole court scene in LA done completely in Spanish? The Judge was definitely very judgmental. Family court proceedings are usually done in a less formal, legal environment, not a Supreme Court.
Lemonade from Lemons is my specialty. 😊 Thank you for the comments and for the warm, appreciative welcome.
VVS, all court cases in novelas on Telemundo, whether they take place in Los Angeles, Miami, or Houston are ALWAYS in Spanish. You have noticed an oddity I've also observed. I guess they assume that their US Spanish speaking viewers don't know a word of English, which I can assure you is not the case. I work for a company where 90% of the employees are native Spanish speakers and they ALL have a lot of English, some of them quite fluent.
"La suerte de Loli", has finished filming.
"Malverde: el santo patrón", "Alan Slim, who is part of the cast and had already begun recording his scenes, has been isolated for several days at home battering COVID-19."
from People en Espanol
At the custody hearing, Nora keeps badmouthing Loli. The judge finally asks Nora whether she has submitted her petition for custody. Nora reluctantly admits that her lawyer was supposed to bring it, but he wasn't able to come.
Octavio is watching some dancers rehearse. He's unhappy with them (They looked pretty good to me). He can't imagine that the customers will like them. Then again, nothing seems to please him. Apolo asks him what's bothering him, but he doesn't get an answer. Then Gabriel comes in carrying a heavy carton. He asks Octavio where to leave it. Octavio yells at him and tells him to bring it to the storage area. Gabriel points out that he was just there, and Octavio said to bring it here. Well, says Octavio, I changed my mind. Gabriel tells him, "if you're angry with me, just fire me."
Vicente comes to Rafa's office while Rafa is with Gonzalo. Gonzalo has brought the divorce papers, and Rafa signs them. Gonzalo tells him, "In two months, you'll be a free man." Vicente congratulates Rafa. Now, he'll be able to explore new possibilities...and Pau will do the same.
Bruno comes in carrying a huge pile of Paulina's books. As he's trying to keep from dropping them, his phone rings, and of course he tries to answer it. It's Melissa, calling to complain about Bruno's amante, who is staying in their house and not lifting a finger to help. To make matters worse, Mel's father cares more about Bruno's amante than about Mel or Carol. Last night, he brought her ten suitcases! The phone call ends, and suddenly it dawns on Bruno...10 suitcases. They're going to run off! He drops most of the books, hastily picks them up, apologizes to Pau, and races off to stop the escapees.
The Judge asks Sam what she thinks of Loli. Sam says at first she didn't like her. Loli interrupts. Sam keeps trying to respond. It's clear that she is aiming to say something positive, but Loli keeps interrupting her. In this scene (as in so many others), Loli is her own worst enemy.
Marcelino and his amante (whose name I've forgotten if I ever knew it) get into the limo, which is packed with all their suitcases. Marcelino starts the engine, but his way is suddenly blocked by another car--Bruno has arrived. Bruno gets out of the car, knocks on the limo's window, and tells Marcelino to hand over the keys. He does so.
Paulina comes into Rafa's office. Vicente and Gonzalo leave. Rafa gives her the divorce papers to sign. She wants to know what's the hurry. Is he in a rush? Does he have plans? Does Vicente know? Rafa asks what difference it makes whether Vicente knows. She doesn't answer. She tells Rafa that she will have to read over the papers before signing.
On her morning program, Rox announces that there will be a new competition. Who can send the most creative, original, romantic message. The winner will have a date with her. Mati is not pleased.
Back at the custody hearing, the judge is talking about how important it is for a child to grow up loved, protected, and free of danger. Nora keeps badmouthing Loli. The judge sees that Octavio is present and mentions him. Nora immediately says that he's a bad influence--even worse than Loli. Nicky is crying. Through his sobs, he manages to say that his father is the best, he teaches him how to paddleboard and to play fútbol. The judge says that now that the father has appeared, she needs to know whether he wants to submit the results of a paternity test and file for custody or relinquish his rights. She can't make a decision about Nicolas until that issue is resolved.
As for Sam, the judge says that Loli has to show that she is responsible, capable, financially solvent, etc in order to have custody. Thus, the judge is witholding judgment. Loli almost goes ballistic, but the lawyer grabs her and holds her back. The judge seems to want information from Loli and Octavio, but not from Nora. Whether this is significant or misleading isn't yet clear.
Angie calls Paulina and asks how she's doing. Paulina doesn't answer. Angie then asks whether Pau is going to talk to Vicente so he can fire Loli for good.
(Has Angie been plotting with Paulina? With Vicente? All by herself?)
Pau talks to Vicente. He keeps trying to take charge. She tells him she can take care of her image. Vicente gives her a pen so she can sign the divorce papers. She won't sign them.
Mati yells at Rox about the contest she has just announced. "You're treating your fans like an object--the very way you didn't want to be treated."
Loli comes to see Octavio. She asks him why he came to the custody hearing and then left. Is he going to ask for custody? Octavio isn't saying much. She finally tells him that he can see Nicky as much as he wants--just don't hurt him. After she leaves, Octavio takes a sheet of paper out of an envelope and tries to put it in a shredder. He doesn't succeed in getting the shredder to work, so he finally just tears the paper up. (I'm somewhat confused. This piece of paper was intact, whereas he had earlier torn the envelope containing the paternity test results in two without looking at the results. So what was this single sheet of paper he was trying to shred? Had he taped the torn results together and was now trying to shred them?
Paulina signs the divorce paper. She then takes off her ring while sarcastically muttering "marriage guru," "the Latin Oprah."
Packages keep arriving for Rox in a constant stream. They're apparently all entries in the competition--flowers, suffed animals, etc. etc. One contestant submitted a box of chilaquiles, telling her "love is like a box of chilaquiles--you never know what you're going to get." Over the phone, Rox thanks him for participating and quickly calls for a short break.
Nora calls Bruno to tell him that the custody hearing was a disaster. She urges him to be more interested in the well-being of his niece and nephew.
Bruno, meanwhile, has brought Marcelino and his amante into the house and is interrogating them. Why is my limo full of suitcases--are you opening a travel agency? The amante finally admits that yes, they were going to Mexico to have her baby. She tells Bruno that Marcelino promised to marry her after divorcing his wife. When asked whether he had told his daughter, Marcelino says no, not yet. "Then when, Pa?" asks Melissa, who, unseen, has heard much of what's been said. Marcelino goes into loving mode. "I never meant to hurt you," he tells her. (Yeah, right.) She's furious with him. "You made me think it was Bruno!" He makes more excuses and empty promises. Finally, he says he'll pay them now, he just needs to get his chackbook. His amante--either well trained or rightly suspicious--gets up to go with him. Melissa immediately pleads with Bruno to forgive her. she moves in for a kiss, but Bruno backs away. "Not so fast," he says. "I love you with all my heart, but I don't know if I want to be with a woman who doesn't trust me." (I could barely believe my ears!) This amazing moment of lucidity is interrupted by the noise of a car motor. "They're escaping!" Melissa and Bruno yell, and race out to try to stop them.
Loli plugs in her phone. "We need to talk," she says--and plays one of Mariana's videos! In the video, Mariana assures Loli "I only want what's best for Sam and Nicky, and I know that's you. But promise me you'll also do what's best for you. Something that makes you happy. If you're happy, I'm happy."
Alas, right after she hears this, Loli's phone rings. It's Rafa, telling her he has signed the divorce papers and he wants to celebrate with her in Napa Valley. "Pack your bags." She has one fleeting moment of sanity when she tells him "Forget it. It's not the right time." He tells her he'll buy the tickets and meet her at the airport. He ends the call with a loud kiss ("Muah!")
Mati tells Rox over the phone that he hopes she has learned her lesson not to date men she doesn't know. Mati looks up and sees Arturo. He's back. He tells Mati "I made up my mind. I don't want to keep risking our relationship."
Rafa is at the airport. He looks around, and he spots Loli coming down the stairs. (I let out a groan and said some things I probably shouldn't include here, but you all can guess. Perhaps you said them, too?) Ms. Responsible proves she deserves custody by leaving the kids with a sitter and telling Bruno to take the kids to school and pick them up afterward.
Loli and Rafa have a minute to revel in their upcoming celebration, but then Rafa sees on his cell phone that he's now a trending item--"Rafael Contreras, VP of Global Radio, was captured on video doing it with a woman who doesn't look like the best selling author who is his wife." The so-called news spreads very quickly. A furious Pau calls first Angie, and then Vicente, trying to figure out who leaked this. We see Vicente with a contented smirk on his face, drinking a glass of wine. After he hangs up, he says "Divide and conquer," and sips some more wine.
Rafa and Loli too are trying to figure out who leaked this. Rafa assumes it was Paulina, but then he realizes that it makes no sense for her to have done this. He also worries what he will say to Jess. Vicente calls Rafa and tells him he wants to see him right away.
Vicente claims he doesn't know who leaked it. Paulina is furious. "If it was Loli, I'll kill her!" she vows. Vicente promises Paulina that he'll find out who leaked it. (How will he do that? By looking in the mirror?)
Sam is telling Jess she just wants to get away from the custody battle. In fact, she'd like to find her father. Jess is surprised that Sam's mother never told her anything about him. Sam tells her, "She told me one day we'd have a talk about this. Might be just a bit difficult now." Suddenly, Jess sees the coverage about her father on her cell phone. Rafa with another woman. Jess calls Paulina. She's astonished to learn that Paulina knew. Paulina tells her, "I did the impossible to stay with your father. If you want more information, ask your father. Or Loli. She's the woman in the video." "Loli?" asks Jess. "Loli?" repeats Sam. And the episode ends.
Good morning! Juanita, excellent recap of this nerve-racking episode. Loli is totally her own worse enemy. I kept telling her to “shut up" during the hearing. When she came down the escalator at the airport all I could think was No, Loli, No!!!
As you mentioned, Angie asked if Pau had shown the video to slimy Vicente who would certainly fire Loli and Pau said no. Angie might indeed be working with Vicente.
I was please to see that Bruno finally grew a pair of avocados! Also glad that the Marcelino charade has been exposed. Bruno’s newly grown pair will only count if he actually reports that limo stolen!
Octavio’s ugly mood swings (UMS) are confusing. I also thought the DNA results were rip in two, it is obvious he cares about Nicky, but why shred or attempt to shred the results?
I am glad that Art came home to Mati. These two are the most stable relationship and that is saying something. The Rox contest was again over the top, but at least we were spared any significant details.
MaameAdwoa, nice to see you out so early on the Loli patio! I completely agree with you, Paulina is not a nice person and certainly not a good mother. Poor Jessica, her selfish parents seem intent on their own personal gratification and don’t give a whip about her.
Thanks again Juanita. This episode wasn’t very fun.
What a fantastic recap, Juanita! Your snarky asides were wonderful!
Thank goodness Marcelino has been unmasked! I cheered when Bruno told Mel to slow her roll. LOL, VVS, Bruno “grew a pair of avocados!” Let’s see how long his lastbefore spoiling.
I think Octavio put the pieces of the DNA test into a new envelope. When he removed them, I could see they were torn in half. Anyway, why is he behaving this way? I had high hopes for him.
Rafa is a very selfish man. He should know better since he’s getting divorced and might be facing his own custody battle.
Loli is stupid. ITA she is her own worst enemy.
Ugh, the custody case drags on……
Don’t know if there’s an Angie/Vicente alliance but it’s likely Vicente caught wind of the gossip and checked the security recording himself. Does he think this will increase ratings? He is despicable.
I am rooting for Mati and Art.
Good to see you on the patio, MaameAdwoa. Paulina is too much.
dondi356
THANKS FOR THE RECAP..!!
..'ROCK THE CASBAH'..dude must have..'Laid -Pipe..OMG!! Loli has a whole new lease on life.....OH YES!!.......AND That's My jam!!

...the poor innocent Sex Tape victim..... is correct its cause to be fired!!
...but that heifer that is the BIGMOUTH BUSY BODY... she needs to be clocked!!
Wow, thanks to everyone who has responded. MaameAdwoa, welcome to the discussion. I agree with you about Paulina. I'm enjoying that her world is gradually coming apart, but she certainly can still create a lot of misery for others.
VVS, I LOVED your remark about Bruno growing a pair of avocados! And yes, I too am finding Octavio's mood swings a bit much. I wonder whether we'll learn more backstory about him.
dondi356, I loved the great way you built on VVS's "avocados" remark: "Let’s see how long his last before spoiling." Perfect!! Given Bruno's track record for caving, I'm not holding out much hope that they'll last. Still, it was wonderful to see him finally stand up to Melissa, even if it lasts just a nanosecond.
Halimacandy, good to see you. At the moment, I'm more of a fan of Octavio than you are, but that could change. I'm more annoyed right now with Rafa for being so selfish and immature.
This morning, as I was thinking about last night's episode, I wondered about the scene where Marcelino and his amante apparently make their escape. At least, Bruno and Melissa hear a car engine start and rush out to try to stop them from escaping. But Bruno already took the keys to the limo, so how did they get it started?? Or did they escape in the car Bruno used to block the limo's escape (whose car was that, BTW?)? Did they hotwire the car?
I am with you and dondi356, I hope Bruno's newly grown avocados last for longer than a nanosecond before spoiling.
Halimacandy I am not sure what happened to gramma Nora's lawyer at the hearing. Maybe he got tired of her complaining. If I recall, he took her money up front, so he probably had no intention of every coming to the hearing.
Terrific recap, Juanita. Your descriptions were SO good. And, VVS, the avocados for Bruno analogy was brilliant!
That court case was just awful. So the judge constantly judges Loli. And, since Nora doesn't seem to have really filed a custody request, does Nasty Judge Judy plan to send the kids to an orphanage rather than give custody to Loli? Yes, Loli is her own worst enemy, but how is she worse than SO many parents. And, if the judge had a tiny bit of insight, she'd see Nora for the bitter person she is.
Bruno needs extra large avocados, and he hasn't had them up to this point. Why in the world hasn't he insisted he needs the limo to earn a living? I have no hope Bruno will declare the limo stolen. That would be too sensible. Show of hands...anyone think either Bruno or Melissa will tell Carol what a jackass her "generous" grandfather is? No?
I thought I saw Marcelino grab the keys off the coffee table, but I may have imagined it.
I was also confused by Octavio and the paper shredder.
Jess tells Sam she can’t believe Loli did this and she can’t stay here anymore. She packs quickly and goes.
Art wants to talk. Mati tells him, you went to San Francisco, you stood me up at the adoption agency and you cheated on me. Mati’s not ready to talk.
Did I hear right? Marce and sidepiece got away in a taxi. Bruno goes ballistic. Mel slaps him out of his rant. She says the most important thing is now “we” know the truth. We? Bruno’s known all along. Melissa was in denial. She never thought her dad would do this. (Really? With his track record?) Bruno works up another head of steam and vents it on Mel about how she didn’t believe him. Bruno dials the police to report Marce. But Mel takes the phone and says she will be the one to report her dad to prove how sorry she is.
Loli and Rafa speak with Vicente about current events. Loli readily admits she was the woman in the video and apologizes. Rafa steps in to take full responsibility because he initiated it. Rafa acknowledges this was not the right place for this to happen. Vicente won’t fire either one of them. He proposes that this be handled internally. He doesn’t want the scandal affecting the company. He is going to hire a PR expert. Rafa wants to resign. Loli says she will, too. Vicente suggests they wait for the expert. Vic says the good thing about scandals is they pass. Keep a low profile and tomorrow, get back to work.
Hunky bar! Octavio thinks back to his last convo with Loli. He pulls out his phone and deletes her number.
Mel continues to apologize to a stony-faced Bruno. Carol comes home and is happy to see her father is back. Where’s grandpa? Bruno says your mom can tell you; he leaves. Mel tells Carol it’s a long story…
Rafa comes looking for Pau at her house. She’s not there. He calls her, no answer. Guess where she is crying her eyes out? At Vicente’s. She vents about the situation. She had to run from the press. Jess feels terrible. She’s angry at Rafa and Loli. Vic tells her, I’m here for you (gag). Her phone rings, Rafa hasn’t stopped calling her.
When Loli comes home she hears it from Sam and Nora. How could you do this?!? This video is everywhere! Nora says Loli is the worst thing that could have happened to her grandchildren. Loli doesn’t even try to defend. Loli tells Sam she wants to explain to Jess. This does not go over well. The poor girl trusted you while you were stealing her dad from her mom, says Nora. Sam says her mother shouldn’t have left us to Loli.
Art speaks to his boss. He won’t be going back to work. He wants to concentrate on his marriage. Mati is listening in and we see a slight smile.
Bruno is learning to bartend at the Hunky bar and he’s making a mess.
Sam and Nora continue to tag team Loli. Loli stands her ground and says she’s not giving up the kids. She’s ashamed of what she’s done but Mari left her kids to her. She informs them that Rafa and Pau are divorced. Nora threatens Loli with the judge. Stop threatening me about custody, she tells Nora, we are in this together. I’m not going anywhere.
Jess is waiting for her dad at his place. You were with Loli, right? Rafa tells her he was waiting for the right time. Jess says, like when I saw it online? You and Loli lied to me. He tries to explain. This all happened so fast. He says, your mom and I signed the divorce papers. Without telling me, asks Jess? She leaves the room.
Next morning, Rafa brings breakfast up to Jess but she’s already gone. He calls her; she doesn’t answer. He calls Pau; she won’t answer.

Nicky asks where Bruno is. Sam doesn’t want Loli to take her to school. Nicky asks what is going on? Loli rushes him off to get ready. Nora is sure she will get custody now.
Mel tells Bruno she told Carol that Marce took his goddaugher to Mexico so she could give birth there. He will stay with her for a while. Before Bruno leaves, Mel tries to seduce him. He weakens and grabs her but then he tells her to save it for later.
Loli walks up to Jess and tries to explain. Jess shuts her down. Sam walks up and backs up Jess.
Lupe is leading the gossip group again. The group is still trying to figure out who Rafa’s woman is. The also talk about this being swept under the rug. They want to create a movement and their motto will be: Vicente, escucha, tu gente esta en la lucha. Rafa arrives and Lupe has the nerve to ask him if he has any information to share. Paloma confronts him and says she and Ricardito were screwed over because of him. She thought he was a good person, but she was wrong.
Rox and Mati are in Loli’s office, watching “the video”. Suddenly they all yell and Loli shuts the laptop. (don’t you wonder what caused that reaction?) Rox thinks no one will find out Loli’s in the video. Rox puts things in prospective. you are a single, empowered woman and you can do whatever you want. in fact, Rox will talk about this on her show. She’s tired of the double standard of women being judged for having fun like men do. Besides, Rox says, Rafa is divorced.
Loli doesn’t want to talk about it anymore. She tells them Vicente hired a PR person to handle this. Mati is sure it was Pau who leaked the video. Rox thinks it’s Angie. Loli still can’t believe she made such rookie mistake.
Octavio is speaking with his lawyer. He tells him they want a written statement saying I relinquish my paternal rights. Lawyer says they will need the DNA result because you can’t give away something that is not yours. Octavio goes on about the sperm bank error, Loli finding him, etc. We see that Gabriel is now eavesdropping. The lawyer asks are you sure you want to give up your son? Octavio thinks a few seconds and stutters out a yes, followed by he’s 100% sure. He needs to get this over with quickly. The lawyer will be in touch.
Gabriel comes in. He’s upset by what he heard. Why are you worried so much about me if you are abandoning your own son? You are no better than my father!
Jess is having a hard time at school because of the scandal. The girls meet up with Gus and Pete. Pete invites the girls over to his house after school. His parents are away (does not bode well)
Another ridiculous scene with Bruno and Mel. She’s all dolled up for him, but he turns her down. He tells her he loves her with all his heart but it’s not easy for him to come back and pretend nothing has happened.
When Rox and Mati confront her, Angie denies leaking the sex video. She turns the tables and says what if it is Loli in the video. Everyone knows they are together.
Rafa and Vicente are having another buddy talk. Vic thinks it’s best if Rafa step back a bit for now. Vic asks why in the office? Why not a hotel? Rafa says Loli drives him crazy and worst of all… he would do it all over again. (Good grief!) The new PR specialist comes in. Vic says do whatever it takes to save my friend… and the radio station of course.
dondi356
Pau shows up at the station and everyone gives her a round of applause!
Angie and Pau talk. Pau thanks Angie for her support. Rafa wants to speak with Pau. He knows he made a mistake, and he is sorry (didn’t he just tell Vic he would do it again?). He asks if Pau is the one that leaked the video. What? She can’t believe he would ask this. You rubbed your new relationship in my face and you think I shared this with the whole country?
Well, Loli said you had the usb drive. What if it was Loli, trying to ruin me, says Pau. Maybe you won’t forgive me for cheating but the difference here is I didn’t expose you. I protected you. You threw me to the wolves and made me a laughing stock. He tells her that Vic hired a PR agent to help the company image. Yes, Pau says, the company, your name… if you excuse me, I’m working on my last show. The Marriage Guru who couldn’t save her own marriage. At least it will be an honest one, says Rafa.
We see Karen, the PR expert, speaking with Loli and Rafa. She is needs to know everything that really happened. Sorry, this goes back and forth, between them and it was hard to follow detail. But I guess that is what Karen is after, the background and details so she can spin them. She also speaks with Pau. At the end, we hear Rafa: what’s going to happen to Loli? Pau: What’s going to happen to me? Vicente: what’s going to happen to the radio station? Loli: what’s going to happen to Rafael?
The gang arrives at Pete’s house. He offers drinks. Sam is reluctant to drink but Jess says yes. The guys bring out a couple of bottles and Pete pours a huge amount of alcohol into each glass. He brings the glasses into the kitchen to mix with juice. Pete splashes some juice into each glass and he squirts a few drops of something else into a couple of the glasses. We can assume these dosed glasses are for the girls. Pete distributes the drinks, and it’s bottoms up.
Octavio’s lady friends drop by again. He doesn’t sound too happy to see them. Octavio is saved by the ring tone. It’s Nicky. He tells his dad he is lost. He will send his location so Octavio can get him. Octavio says if you have your location then…. Nicky explains he is lost to his family; they don’t know where he is. Ok, Octavio says, send me the location and I will be there. He tells the girls he will be back soon.
Pau does her show and tell her audience she’s getting divorced. She puts it all out there. This her last show as the marriage expert. Angie checks her phone. Social media is going wild for Pau. They love her and will support her. Vic makes a call and says it worked. I got what I wanted.
Rafa comes to Loli’s office. He says he will fix everything. Loli has had enough. She could lose custody of the kids. She tells him everything is out of control ever since Mari died. She would never get involved with a man at work because this is everything to her. Loli says he came and turned her life around. She was always independent, in control. But that’s gone now. Loli drops the bomb, I think it’s best if we leave it like this. Let’s just end things.
And we are out.

What a nice surprise to find this recap dondi356! It is just super! I really appreciate the details and comments.
So those sneaky writers put the amante and Marcelino in a taxi! Glad to see Bruno kept his avocados in tact for this episode even with Melissa’s attempt to blend them into some guacamole to go with her home cooked meal! (I just can’t let this reference go!). 😊
Just ugh with Rafa, Vicente the Slim and Paulina the Perfect. Rafa would do it all again? His lack of self-reflection on how his actions hurt his daughter, potentially placing her in a very risky situation with that pervert Pete is ridiculous. I was glad that poor Paloma told him how she felt! Vic and Pau deserve each other.
Loli showed some remorse and I do hope she cools the jets for a bit to re-group. She did do some self-reflection and realized that everything went to heck and a handbasket after Mari died, but worse after meeting Rafa.
Octavio is clearly having internal conflict with his head and heart. That lollipop continues to be a distraction and like Juanita, I want more back story. How is it that no one is ever watching Nicky? This is like the 3rd time he has gone AWOL.
Lupe the metiche, needs someone to shut her up! She and Norita should schedule a playdate to gossip and mean girls all they like.
This PR person seemed more like an auditor/investigator for HR! (Maybe not a bad thing). I will be curious to see her spin the sex scandal to benefit everyone. I don’t think it is possible.
Awww, a little bit of eye candy respite at Hunky Bar tonight.
Thanks again dondi356! You are spoiling us!
What a great recap, dondi356. I just wish you hadn't called it a "short" recap. It didn't seem at all short to me. ¡Para nada!
As always, I loved your asides, such as: "(Really? With his track record?)" and "(didn’t he just tell Vic he would do it again?)" Perfect!
And yes, I'd love to know what they all saw on the laptop before Loli hastily closed it.
Pete made very sure that the knockout drops (or whatever) that he put in the two drinks would go to the girls. When Pete comes out with the drinks, Gus tries to take one, and Pete reproaches him, reminding him "Ladies first." Pete is such a slimeball! I'm trying to decide what terrible fate I'd like him to suffer.
Vicente, too, is a slimeball. Actually, that word is just a placeholder until I decide on the right one for him. Everything he did was apparently simply to get Global Radio's ratings to soar. I wonder whether he's even all that interested in Paulina.
And VVS, I absolutely loved your "Bruno kept his avocados in tact for this episode even with Melissa’s attempt to blend them into some guacamole to go with her home cooked meal!"
Thanks so much, dondi, for the fine recap. Not short at all! Your snark was in the same places as my reactions while watching.
OK, I checked. This novela was indeed written by a man. The women are gossips, backstabbers, extremely nasty grannies, and loose women who show up for regular threesomes with the owner of a bar. Not to mention an idiot who believed her crooked father instead of her husband she claims to love so much. The effort to portray an overweight woman as a woman with a good sex life might have started as well intentioned, but she also behaves like an idiot 80% of the time.
Our heroine, Loli, starts out as a driven career woman. The premise of our male writer's story is that what she needs is some kids and a man.
Sorry to be so grouchy. I continue to watch, but I'm disappointed in this novela.
Novelera, I am glad you checked who wrote this novela. It does help to know the premise for some of the stupid way women are being portrayed. Men certainly have a very different perspective on women for sure. I don’t think you are being grouchy. I was also looking for a light-hearted novela after watching the last mess on Univision: Imperio de Mentiras. I am not going to give up hope that appropriate anvils will fall and the right people will be happy. Plus, as a first-time commentator, I have enjoyed being part of this group, grouchy and all. 😊
I agree with you Juanita, I don’t think he really does care about Pau. What is Vicente’s game? Can’t wait to see your new nickname for him!
I think Nora is just a control freak, MaameAdwoa. She never had control over Mariana and her baby daddy choices, so now she is trying to exert that control. Thank you for sharing that interesting perspective on Rafa. I had not thought about him in that way. Maybe I am judging him too hard.
Like all of you, I hope the drugging of Sam and Jess doesn’t lead to some awful place tonight.
Frida
I know none of you are watching this novela, but I have to tell you, it is excellent! Great story, lots of twists and mystery, great acting and strong women!
Thanks, everyone! I really enjoyed reading all the comments today.
LOL, VVS!! "Bruno kept his avocados in tact for this episode even with Melissa’s attempt to blend them into some guacamole to go with her home cooked meal!" Glad you didn’t let that go! I think it’s worthy of posting on the main page. Interesting take on the PR expert, too.
Thanks, Juanita, for mentioning that Gus was going to grab a spiked drink, but Pete stopped him. Gus has no idea what’s coming either. IIRC, Gus didn’t like the idea of Pete getting near Jess and he tried to keep him away. I wish he would have tried harder.
MaameAdwoa, I share some of your frustrations. Letting the “telenovela gods” destroy Pete is alright with me.
novelera, I must be a grouch, too. I think you put my uncomfortable feelings about this show into words very well. I’m going to continue watching. Hopefully, it will get better.
VVS, Frida is a remake of a novela I thought was meh so I didn’t even consider it. Glad you are enjoying it.
I’m also “re-watching” La Hija del Embajador on Uni. It’s still airing in Turkey and I live stream it every Monday. It presents a very different aspect of Turkish culture than Todo por mi Hija. Fantastic acting, very heavy storyline.
