Loli

Hi All, just got off an extra long shift. Recap will be posted late morning for us West Coasters and early afternoon for those on the East Coast.

"LOLI":
VVS: Looking forward to seeing the recap of last night's episode.

Loli
Monday: Episode #45

We begin at the Bruno Shuffle casino, BS for short, where the showdown of cards is about to begin. The tension is high as Lupe leans in to tell Mel that she hopes the cards go the way of the bon-bon and the heck with Bruno, the gossip girls want details.

The handsome stranger, who will pay $5000 for a night with Melissa, shows a straight flush. In dramatic fashion, with Domingo wiping the sweat off his brow (with the $20k Pedro Infante shirt!) Bruno lays out a Royal Flush, the only hand that could beat the handsome stranger. Melissa feigns outrage that her husband would sell her that way, but in reality, we all know its because she was hoping to spend the night with the handsome stranger. (I was hoping to be dealt the cards for a night with that hottie!).

At the orphanage, Gabriel is talking to Octavio and Sam asking what ended up happening with the police? What police? asks Sam. Octavio gives her a brief synopsis of he and Loli being arrested, spending the night in jail and Rafa bailing out Loli while Octavio’s lawyer helped him get release. Sam now understands why Loli or Octavio didn’t return calls or messages during that period of time. Octavio pleads with her not to mention anything about it to Loli.

Gabriel says his biggest concern is Christi being back with that terrible foster family. He will be 18 shortly so no big deal, he will be released from the orphanage, but Christi? Octavio (I just love this guy) tells him not to worry he is working on making sure Christi is moved to another foster family and when “Gabi” is old enough, he will return to live and work at Hunky Bar, problem solved.

Gabriel is so grateful and excited to have a plan put forth is such a loving way. Octavio teases a bit but leaves Sam and Gabi alone to talk. Gabriel tells Sam he is surprised she came to visit him. Sam apologizes for Nora’s behavior. Gabriel apologizes for getting Sam in trouble with her Nora and thanks her for helping he and Christi out. He says that no one has every really cared about him and Christi before, except for “Tio” Octavio and now her. They both lean in for a kiss (I think they kissed, the COVID camera angle was awkward). Sam jumps up smiling and says Octavio is waiting for her. Gabriel asks if she will return and visit? She says, of course! 😊

Loli - #45 Part 2
Mati and Arturo are interviewing care-givers for Art’s mom, Selma, unfortunately the prospects are not too promising.

Loli and Nora are frantically looking for the Pedro Infante shirt. It finally dawns on them that Domingo is the culprit and they speed off to find him.

Karen and Rafa are at his apartment drinking wine. She is rambling on about taking vacations with Jess and then separate ones by themselves. Rafa looks very disinterested and excuses himself to get another bottle of wine. While Rafa is in the sound proof kitchen a few feet away, Karen calls Vicente and asks if his offer for work is still available? She claims that “working” (whatever you call it Karen) at Global Radio has become difficult with Loli/Rafa, Paulina/Rafa, Paulina/Rafa/Jess situations. He welcomes her to his nonexistent new company and tells her they will connect later as he is in a very important meeting.

That meeting is with the picture taking “admirer” of Paulina who is asking if he will get paid. Chente says no, I have a better job for you. (I totally got the impression that this wasn’t a casual meeting and Chente actually hired this guy, as many suspected, to hold those pics for ransom).

Mati is watching TV with Selma and there is a heartbreaking interaction where she confuses Art with her husband. She then runs off to make herself something to eat, forgetting she has already eaten. Art and Mati talk about how hard this is, but Art still wants to move forward with the wedding vow ceremony and adopting a baby.

The door bell rings and it is Jack, a nurse who is answering the help wanted ad. (There was an immediate, strong reaction/attraction from Mati when he answered the door). During the interview, it is clear that Jack knows what he is doing and seems like a kind, knowledgeable nurse who has expertise with Alzheimer patients. Mati wants to hire him on the spot.

Art, pulls Mati aside saying he thinks they should interview others (I also think he saw the attraction/interest? in Jack). Mati says they have already interviewed every candidate in LA! Just then Selma runs in the room claiming to have lost her comb and she needs to comb her hair. The comb, is clearly caught at the top of her head and Jack gently “finds” it for her. Art realizes that Jack is the guy and offers him the job to take care of his mom.

Loli - #45 Part 3
The next morning, Jack is already there taking care of Selma and made breakfast for all of them. Art, wearing a shawl from Nora’s closet, sarcastically asks if Jack is also a chef? Jack tells him he enjoys cooking and wants to help Selma and also Art and Mati (Jack stresses, “your husband” here, clearly setting the boundaries of client/patient/not after your husband).

Octavio is meeting with his lawyer (I can never catch his name) asking what he needs to do to became a foster parent for Gabriel and Christi. The lawyer says it is going to be difficult since Octavio was already put in jail for harboring them, he is not married, owns not just a bar, but a stripper bar. Hardheaded Octavio tells him to figure it out. The lawyer asks if he can provide some advice? Octavio says sure, but I probably won’t follow it. The lawyer thinks Octavio is trying to fill the void Nicky left in his heart by trying to foster these two kids. Thanks for the advice, says Octavio, you are not only a lawyer but a psychologist too.

Apolo, dressed in a fine Macho Man outfit, comes in and says one of Octavio’s former clients is at the bar asking for a private dance. Octavio tells him to have one of the other guys provide that service, he no longer dances (sigh, too bad). Apolo goes into his song and dance about Octavio needs to stop trying to be a mama to all and maybe getting back to his dancing roots would help! Octavio kicks him out of the office for the 100th time in 45 episodes.

Back at BS casino, Domingo is in a final hand with some creepy looking guy who is betting big. All Domingo has is the very wrinkled, very sweaty Pedro Infante shirt. Domingo stupidly calls the bet with Mariana’s house and loses, 4 Kings to 4 Aces. Loli and Nora rush in just as the bet is completed. The creepy guy wants the papers to the house, Loli threatens to call the police but learns that this will get Bruno in trouble (who cares!) and creepy guys pulls out a gun pointing it at Domingo (Viewerville yells “shoot”).

Loli talks down creepy guy, who says they have 24 hours to figure it out and leaves. Loli gets Domingo home and gives him a well-deserved tongue lashing, threating that if he doesn’t go back to therapy, he will never see her again. Nora tries to figure out how to repair the $20k shirt.

Paulina and Angie are drinking wine at Pau’s casa, Angie is gushing over how wonderful Pau is, when she sees the ransom, leaked photos of Pauline and Chente with the headline “Confirmed.”

Loli - #45 Part 4
Pau has a meltdown saying she thought Chente was going to take care of this problem (oh he sure did girlfriend). At the same time, Rafa sees the pics and article. Jess also learns of her mother’s infidelity and relationship with her dad’s best friend though of course, social media.

Rafa comes over to Paulina’s house, mainly to check on Jess. Jess basically tells both parents that if they are okay with what is going on with each other, then she really doesn’t care, she is going to stay in school, keep her head up and move forward. She does ask both of them to really try NOT to continue screwing up. (We all stand up and cheer for Jess!!).

Chente is talking to a devastated Pau the next morning, lying and claiming he did everything to try and stop the guy from publishing the photos. He encourages her to go to work, the public with forgive you again, they love you. (What a jerk).

Rox and Terrible Cortez are all taken care of with their negotiated Star Perks. Rox is quite rude to Mati (I honestly don’t even remember why) but at least Rox and TC are able to get the show on the radio to lots of appreciative fans who are enjoying them being together. Rox flounces out after the show, saying all kinds of things I couldn’t understand and TC asks Mati if she is always this difficult. Mati says, no, sometimes she is worse!

Loli is on the phone with someone scheduling an appointment for Domingo. Rafa comes in and offers her support. She breaks down and cries, Rafa hugs her, Karen sees the hug. Rafa offers to go with Loli to the appointment, she will think about it. Later Loli is talking to her lawyer who is very concerned about the custody proceeding with her recent arrest. The lawyer also confirms that she will not loose Mariana’s house in that illegal card game especially since Domingo doesn’t even own the house.

Domingo and Bruno talk, both claim that they will “fix” the situation with the creepy gun guy. Bruno ends up at Hunky Bar, telling Octavio that Loli and the kids are about to lose the house and he needs Octavio’s help. (Maybe we have a Hunky Bar police squad operation in our future? Fingers crossed!).

Don Rogelio comes over to retrieve his prize Pedro Infante shirt only to find out that Nora had to wash it because Domingo accidently wore it. Pretty smooth lying from both Domingo and Nora (who is wearing a shawl from Art’s closet). Don R keeps it together and tells Nora he knows it is not her fault, grimaces at Domingo and leaves, saying he has lots of work to attend to.

Gossip girls are gossiping and Mel tries to act like everything is cool after the crazy night of almost being sold into sex slavery by her own husband and having a creepy guy pull a gun out in the middle of a card game. Don Rogelio storms into the station putting everyone, even me, on edge.

Don Rogelio, Rafa. Loli and Paulina are in the conference room. Don R says during the video scandal with Loli and Rafa, he was able to protect Paulina’s image. But this new scandal with Chente, it totally different. The ratings and social media posts are very, very negative. She asks, “is this the end of Paulina Castro?” Looks around the table indicate that yes, it is potentially the end.

Loli

Hi VVS! I couldn't watch last night due to TV reception and the Telemundo hasn't posted the ep yet. But I couldn't resist reading your recap and it is stellar! I LOL'd all the way through. I really appreciate your effort coming off an extra long shift.

Karen is jumping ship. Not a surprise. I won’t worry about her, I think she’s the kind of person that always lands on her feet.

Are there any words left to describe how despicable Vicente is? Now he’s destroying Pau’s career? Is that intentional destruction or just a stupid move on his part?

Oh no, is Mati going to cheat with the nurse? Regardless, Art is going to be very jealous. They are setting this marriage up to explode.

I probably don't have to watch the show. Just about the only thing I’d want to see is Octavio, Sam and Gabe.

Liked:
“…. “working” (whatever you call it Karen)”

“BS casino”

“(Viewerville yells “shoot”)” and may I add, shoot half the cast while you’re at it.

Thanks very much, VVS, for this wonderful recap! I especially loved your abundant asides such as (Viewerville yells "shoot") and "(Maybe we have a Hunky Bar police squad operation in our future? Fingers crossed!)" [To which I say, "Amen to that!"] I also appreciated remarks that weren't asides, such your description of the kitchen: "While Rafa is in the sound proof kitchen a few feet away, Karen calls Vicente...." And I too noted the immediate attraction between Mati and Jack, and I think you're right that Art may have objected to hiring Jack because he noticed it, too (I hadn't thought of that). Frankly, my first thought was that Jack was simply too good to be true, and I was expecting some disaster, but perhaps he really is what he seems, a very kind and competent guy.

Question: Vicente tells the extortionist that no, he won't pay, but he has something better to offer. What could he have that's better than $1 million? Is he talking about paying the guy more money to distribute/leak the photos? Is Vicente that intent on causing Pau pain, and possibly getting rid of her? Clearly, I don't get it.

I'm very eager to find out what the relationship was at one time between Don Rogelio and Domingo. My guess: Don Rogelio is indeed Loli's bio father, and both Don R and Domingo know it. Or perhaps Domingo only knows that his wife cheated on him with Don R but he doesn't know that Don R is Loli's bio father. Or I'm totally wrong and will have to go crawl back under my rock.

VVS, you didn't seem to mind the scene between Rox and Cortez the Terrible doing their joint podcast. I found it almost unwatchable.

What was that outfit that Loli wore to work? Lots of see-through material with occasional flowers. At first I thought it was a nightgown. It sure didn't look like something one would wear to work.

Each day, I find myself rooting more and more for a Loli/Octavio pairing.

Loli

Hi dondi356, you made me laugh with the “shoot half the cast while you are at it!” comment. Glad you enjoyed the recap. I do think it is worth watching if you can. I think the newly hired nurse Jack set a strong boundary that he was just there to take care of Art’s mom. He referred several times to Mati and Art being married and a family, so hopefully no hanky-panky with Mati.

Juanita, thank you for your comments. I hope that Mati and Art check references and the Jack is a good nurse and not some psycho off the street. I was also confused with the Vicente/extortionist (great word!) discussion. How did Vicente even find him if he didn’t already work for Vicente? The con artist was pretty well dressed for the average con job. I think Chente is just closing all the avenues around her to corral Paulina to stay with him. Pretty sick to me.

I shared the Rox/Terrible scenes because as I watched, it occurred to me that they are so much alike, is it possible that the end up together? Cesar is just too nice for Rox.

No rock hiding Juanita! I like both your ideas that Octavio is Sam’s dad and that Don Rogelio is Loli’s dad. Not sure who knows what, but these are great twists for us to consider!

Both Loli and Karen could have used a shawl out of Art or Nora’s closet for sure. Neither outfit was appropriate for work.

I am definitely on the team Octavio/Loli bench, but would prefer the Octavio/VVS pairing better!

VVS, you knocked the recap out of the park! [Sorry...I'm more than ready for Opening Day for the SF Giants.] Your descriptions were fantastic.

Yes, Vicente's motivations are odd. He could be working several things at the same time. Revenge on his father by blackening Pau's reputation and lowering her ratings. Getting her fired so as to get her on his, as someone said, non-existent radio station. And, isolating her from her support system.

I suppose we'll see the second shoe drop regarding the "other job" Chente had for blackmailer guy. I'm more and more convinced that Pau is going to find all this out and kick Chente to the curb. The guy is a sociopath; he didn't care at all that her child would see this all over the internet. And the writers have been making Pau's character more and more likeable as she falls from grace...thus not deserving a life with such a rat.

I think the introduction of Jack is very enjoyable. He clearly is a kind person who has experience in how to protect patients with dementia and make them feel as if he's a friend.

Also loved the scene with Octavio, Gabriel, and Sam. I'm still not that convinced he's Sam's father. Wouldn't he at least have some inkling after seeing the Las Vegas photo? He never said anything other than "what a coincidence". But you can't count on logic with telenovela plots and novelera should give up trying to do so.

They have jumped the shark so many times I'm surprised they haven't been bitten. That whole Domingo bets Mariana/Loli's house stuff was just ridiculous. And poor little Nicki had to hear about it. Doubt it will happen, but please...please send Domingo to a 30-day (6 month?) rehab so I don't have to see the guy. His actions are awful and so is the overacting.

I actually loved Loli's blouse. It had a solid silk coverup underneath. And...unlike Karen...her breasts were completely covered.

Something about Karen's interactions with Vicente make me wonder if he didn't hire her in the first place to drive more of a wedge between Rafa and Pau.

Loli

Opening day for baseball is just around the corner novelera! I hope you get a chance to watch your team in person! I am more of a football and UFC fan, but I will cheer for your SF Giants!

Thank you for the comments and thoughts. I also think that Domingo is over the top in acting and not credible at all. I think Loli’s lawyer told her that the house would be fine because Domingo didn’t actually own it. The problem is going to be the crazy gun waving guy. It was unfortunate that Nicky had to see and hear what a loser (pun intended) his Abuelo really is.

As I have mentioned before, a lot can happen in a romantic dark corner in Las Vegas after a few drinks, ahem…so maybe Octavio doesn’t really remember Mariana based on that picture.

Vicente is just loathsome!

I just want Octavio and Loli to end up together. Their personalities blend so well!

La Suerte de Loli - #46 - p 1 de 3

This may be a rather confused recap. I kept having problems with the captions.

Anyway, Paulina is out. Paulina says she wants to do her last podcast. Rafa tells her that she can't; Don Rogelio doesn't want more problems.

Juaquín and Jess are rehearsing a hot scene from the school play. They decide they need a rest. Juaquín decides to put on some music. He looks over his playlist. Jess looks, too. She's excited to see that he has Billie Eilish. It turns out they both like Eilish a lot. Jess says something about tickets, and if she can get more, she'll give them to Juaquín.

Bruno and the nasty guy with the gun (NGG) are trying to negotiate some kind of deal. Bruno goes out of the room, comes back, and makes sure to leave the door a bit open. The next thing we know, the two key members of the Hunky Bar Police Force (Octavio and Apolo) arrive in uniform, weapons drawn. They grab both Bruno and NGG, but they make NGG promise that he will leave and not bother Bruno, Melissa, Loli, or the kids ever again--or else. He believes that they really are the police, and he agrees and leaves.

Paulina and Angie come to the Hunky Bar. Paulina is clearly looking for some fun. She has some tequila. A group of the Hunky Bar dancers do their stuff on stage and then come down to mix with the audience. Paulina is definitely into this. Angie, no. Pau has some more tequila. Angie keeps trying to get her to leave. Pau tells her not to be such a killjoy. One of the Hunky Bar dancers (Adan) comes over and dances with Paulina.

Rox and Cesar are in bed. She asks him whether he wants something to eat. He says yes. She goes into the kitchen. Cesar's phone rings. He's not pleased, He gets into an argument with the woman who called. He finally tells her not to start in with her blackmail threats. Rox has overheard part of the conversation. "Are you married?" she asks. The guilty look on his face says it all.

Sam is visiting Gabe at the orphanage. She gives him a present. He opens the box. It's a cellphone. He says it must have cost her a lot. She claims it didn't, she bought it with points. He's reluctant to accept it. She tells him that with it he'll be able to talk to Cristie. He agrees to accept it, so he can talk to Sam and to Cristie. Gabe is really overwhelmed by Sam. He's never met anyone like her. "Where are you from?" he asks. Sam tells him she's an extraterrestrial. Gabe tells her he loves extraterrestrials.

Angie and Pau are still at the Hunky Bar. Angie is clearly very unhappy. She keeps trying to text someone. Then she sees Pau kissing the guy she was dancing with.

After NGG has left, Octavio tells Bruno not to do anything to hurt Loli or the kids. Bruno asks Octavio to let him work at the bar. Octavio doesn't think that's a good idea. He and Apolo show Bruno some of their weapons, and Apolo tases him.

Loli brings Domingo to the rehab meeting. Rafa accompanies her. The guy running the meeting is the same guy who almost ran over Nicky with his car. He and Loli recognize each other. He introduces himself to Rafa as the Coordinator of Group Therapy at the Center. As they're going inside the building, Loli whispers to Rafa, "I don't trust that guy."

Cesar admits to Rox that yes, he married the woman. But it was only for papers so he could stay in the United States. Rox isn't buying that. "I heard you talking about blackmail threats. But a woman doesn't do that if she's not interested." Cesar responds that the woman is crazy. Rox keeps screaming at him to leave. She just about pushes him out the door.

La Suerte de Loli - #46 - p 2 de 3

Angie is determined to get Paulina away from the bar. She goes over to where Pau and Adan are kissing and yells at Adan not to take advantage of her friend. Pau makes it clear that they're enjoying each other. Angie pulls her away. Pau tells Adan that she'll call him.

The Coordinator welcomes everyone to the Group Therapy Session for Gambling Addicts. He makes some introductory remarks and then calls on one of the attendees to introduce himself to start things off. The guy says he's Manuel, he's 75 years old, and he's a gambling addict. The group says in unison, "Welcome, Manuel." Then they move on to a second man, who introduces himself as Salvador. Loli cries out--she knows him! He says, "Yes, we know each other. We were going to be married ten years ago." Domingo is the third person to introduce himself. "I'm Domingo Aguilar, and I've been a gambling addict for 30 years." Loli then speaks up. "I'm Loli...and [looking at Salvador] you treated me terribly!" She then says, "I'm here to support my father."

Melissa returns home while Octavio and Apolo are still there in their police uniforms. She assumes they are police. Octavio and Apolo say they'll let Bruno off, but if he does anything wrong again.... Melissa is relieved and grateful. She embraces Apolo--and is immediately impressed with his muscular body. She comments about this to Bruno. Bruno promises the "police officers" that from now on, everything he does will be legal.

Gabe calls his sister with his new phone. He and Sam continue to talk, and I think at one point Sam must have taken the phone. The orphanage authorities tell her that her time is up, she has to leave. She starts to do so, then turns around and returns to hug her "cousin" Gabe. While doing so, she manages to slip the phone into his pocket. She tells him she'll be back.

Rafa says to Loli that he was under the impression that she never wanted to get married. Loli shrugs it off as "a stupidity of my past." Salvador introduces himself to Rafa, using his full name, Salvador Bravo. Hearing the name, Rafa asks, "El Renegado?" Yes, says Salvador. "Your podcast is terrific!" exclaims Rafa. Salvador asks "And you and Loli?" Rafa tells him "We work together at Global Radio." Salvador wants to have coffee alone with Loli. She wants nothing to do with him.

Juaquín is still at Jess's house when Pau and Angie arrive. Pau is still very drunk. She says she's glad that Jess's father isn't around. She talks about Adan. Jess is confused. "You mean Adam and Eve"? Angie tells Pau that she needs to take a cold shower.

Nora talks with Bruno. He promises that from now on everything he does will be legal. She tells him that for that to happen, he'd have to be born again, and she's not about to give birth to him again. It was hard enough the first time, because he was quite big. Anyway, she offers to lend him some money so he can get on his feet. He's immensely happy and grateful. Loli and Domingo return. Bruno joyfully tells them that he's managed to get the house back. Nora interrupts their conversation to tell Domingo "no more gambling" and to tell Bruno "find some lawful work."

Back at his place, Rafa looks up Salvador Bravo on the computer. He's told that he left Global Radio, and that his podcast, "El Renegado," is the vehicle through which he was able to express his transgressive and rebelious ideas.

Karen arrives. She tells Rafa that he and she are different. She lives in the present, the here and now, while Rafa lives in the past. "Or am I wrong?" He moves closer to her, and it seems as if he's saying that she's wrong.

La Suerte de Loli - #46 - p 3 de 3

Loli again talks to Mariana's photo. She has a flashback to when she was about to be married to Salvador. She's in a wedding gown, and Mariana is with her, adjusting the gown. Then they hear Salvador's voice on the radio. He announces that he's leaving radio to explore new horizons. Loli comments on his leaving his job just as they're about to get married. Oh well, he's a free spirit. But then he continues, somewhat hesitantly. "I can't get married. I can't do something I don't believe in. I'm sorry, Loli. I love you deeply. I'm sorry you are having to learn about this in this way. I'm doing this so that we do no more harm. I hope some day you'll understand." [What a creep! Count yourself lucky, Loli!]

Vicente is with Jess. He tells her "I'm sorry what happened with your father." [Notice that there's no mention of a person performing "what happened"] He continues, "I regard him as a brother." Jess tells him sarcastically," it's no problem, it's normal among brothers." He protests, and she tells him that she's not interested in the details. Vicente claims that he only wants Jess's mother to be happy--she deserves it. To which Jess replies, "My mother is destroyed, Vicente."

Rox, Mati, and Loli talk about what happened with Cesar. FF>>

There's a demonstration at Hunky Bar. A crowd of people carrying signs chant "Resistiremos! No Desistiremos! (We will resist! We will not stop!) Octavio comes and argues with them, finally telling them "If you don't like the bar, don't come in."

Pau talks with Vicente. "The people hate me," she tells him. "They say I'm a failure, a hypocrite. And the worst thing is that it's true. I'm tired. I don't know how to keep going." Vicente tells her, "Youre the most talentted person I've ever known." He then points to himself. His father fired him, but he didn't take to his bed. Instead, he set about creating something else. Pau should be like him. Pau replies, "So I can tell people how to be failures? How to make scandals?" Vicente assures her "This will pass."

Nora is on the phone with Don Rogelio. She tells him she doesn't want to leave Domingo alone. She and Don R can see each other later. Domingo overhears her and tells her she doesn't have to give up her life because of him. She should do what she wants with her life. Domingo then says that Bruno is a good man. Nora says Bruno is a good man who behaves badly. "You're not perfect, either" replies Domingo. "You've made mistakes." Nora agrees. And the worst of her mistakes was getting angry with Mariana when she got pregnant by some unknown guy. "As a result, I didn't spend much time with her. And now she's not here, and we remain angry. But you can still fix things with Loli," she tells him.

Melissa brings cupcakes to Global Radio. But all her gossipy friends are very cool toward her. Then Angie appears and asks Melissa, "What are you doing here?" I work here," a somewhat perplexed Melissa replies. Probably enjoying every minute of this, Angie asks, "Oh, didn't you hear--Paulina has been cancelled." "Are you firing me?" asks Melissa. "Obviously," replies a gloating Angie.

Loli talks with Rafa about Bruno's getting back the house. She can't imagine how he did it. She then asks about Pauline's scheduled time. He starts talking about what he's looking for. "Are you talking about El Renegado?" she asks in disbelief. "Are you thinking of bringing Salvador back?" Rafa tries to put on a neutral face as the episode ends.

Loli

I was also having trouble with the CC last night Juanita and I am glad you did this great recap because you absolutely covered everything so well! I missed so many conversations and never heard the name of Salvador Bravo’s show “El Renegado.”

Yay! The Hunky Bar Police department looked really credible! I got a kick out of Apolo going a bit overboard with Bruno several times and let’s hope the NNG stays away!

At least we got to see some hunkies at Hunky bar! I am not very sympathetic to Paulina; she brought all this on herself. Jess continues to act very maturely and I hope she does squeeze a few more tickets out of Karen. Loved how Jess socked it to Chente.

Salvador is a new total loser. What a horrible way to let Loli down. She looked so pretty in her wedding dress!

Cesar should have told Rox about his marriage of convenience. He deserved to be shoved out into the hall in his chonnies. I know you don’t like the Terrible/Rox convos Juanita, but I think there is some chemistry there!

Now both Mel and Bruno are jobless, what could go wrong?

Thanks Juanita!

Loli

Thanks so much, Juanita. This was a beautifully detailed recap. I didn’t sense any confusion.

How did Bruno manage to get the Hunky Police to come to his house? Can’t believe he had the nerve to ask Octavio to rehire him. Good to see Octavio draw the line on somewhere.

Not clear about Cesar. Did he mention he was in the process of getting a divorce or that he wanted one, but this person wouldn’t agree to it. Anyway, I wish Rox would have had a discussion instead of automatically tossing Cesar out. Maybe that’s to come at a later date.

What is the reason Loli doesn’t trust the therapy guy? I don’t remember—did he act like an idiot when Nicky ran in front of his car? The therapy session was just an excuse to introduce another silly character and ridiculous storyline. “A stupidity from her past” is about to become a stupidity in the present.

Nora says Mariana Mariana “got pregnant by some unknown guy”. But do we know him?

Do we really have 50+ episodes left?

What a terrific recap under less-than-ideal circumstances, Juanita! ITA on all your asides. Hmmm. I don't remember a problem with the Spanish captions last night. I wonder if that problem varies according to your provider. Mine is DirecTV.

I am starting to get the feeling that these writers are just throwing s@#t against the wall to see what will stick. Since we just learned that it's only halfway broadcast, I suppose that's what they need to do. The introduction of Salvador is one of those items that may or may not stick.

Come on...a group therapy session with Domingo's daughter AND a random, unrelated to him person (Rafa).

I had the impression that, for some bizarre reason, Rafa changed his mind about telling Karen "It's not you; it's me." because of the introduction of Salvador. So off to bed they went.

Angie could not have been more annoying last night. She's flitting around Hunky Bar in her business apparel, lips pursed judgmentally. If anyone had the right to have some tequila shots and flirt with one of the dancers, it was Paulina Castro. Angie continues to behave as if her entire existence revolves around Pau's public image. And the way she fired Melissa...just awful.

Gabriel and Sam are just delightful together. And it's especially fun since both characters were introduced sullen and scowling - Sam at Loli and Gabe at Octavio.

Not that I needed a recap of the scene, but Terrible, a real radio star, is doing a great job acting in a novela. I think he's eventually going to win Rox over (as a co-worker), but we'll probably have to put up with many hissy fits until that happens.

ITA, VVS, about Jess putting Vicente in his place. Of course Pau is destroyed. She's spent most of her adult life crafting this image. She'd managed to survive getting a divorce and was using that to re-build things. But rotten Vicente pulled the rug out from under her for his own ends. He probably did set up the blackmail in the first place and then put the whole thing on social media.

I am really disappointed that Domingo's gambling addiction therapy is not being locked away in rehab.

So I guess Marcelino didn't get ALL of Nora's savings when they showed her writing him, IIRC, a check for $20K. She is able to help Bruno some.

MANY THANKS, VVS, dondi356, and novelera, for your very supportive and perceptive comments.

VVS, In a way, I'm glad to know that you too had problems with the captions last night. That gives me hope that it wasn't just a problem that I was having but was more widespread and thus more likely to be resolved. And I enjoyed your comment "Now both Mel and Bruno are jobless, what could go wrong?" Actually, though it may sound somewhat heartless of me, I'm still expecting that Melissa will not manage to carry the baby to term. And given how much trouble she and Bruno already are in financially, and how incompetent they both seem in different ways, I think losing the baby might not be so tragic.

dondi356, you raise a good question about Loli's distrust of the therapy guy. I don't remember much about him from when he almost ran over Nicky, and I was surprised when Loli made that comment to Rafa. And I'm in total agreement with your belief that "The therapy session was just an excuse to introduce another silly character and ridiculous storyline." Though if they're really stretching this novela out to 100 episodes, I guess they need some new blood and new story lines. (But what we DON'T need is anything like 100 episodes!!)

novelera, I loved your "I am starting to get the feeling that these writers are just throwing s@#t against the wall to see what will stick." That's worthy of the Caray front page! Good point about Sam and Gabe having started out sullen. And yes, they're a delight together. As for Nora's money, perhaps I'm confusing novelas, but I have this vague memory of her crying about how Marcelino has taken all her savings. If that's the case, how does she have enough to lend what's probably a substantial amount of money to Bruno?

OT:

Dondi356: How are you enjoying watching Ximena Herrera in her new Telenovela ?
