La Suerte de Loli – Jueves – Parte 1 de 2
At Global Radio, in Loli’s office, Rafael tells Loli they have a good thing together. She replies that she can’t permit the judges to take away custody of her godchildren. Rafa, rather stupidly, says that the judge doesn’t have to know. He adds that with his child and hers they could overcome this. He finally says he doesn’t agree with her decision and leaves.
At Pete’s house we see that Sam and Jess have drained their glasses. They are dancing with Pete and Gus. Jess says that she feels hot and dizzy. Then she says that she needs the bathroom. Sam is also under the influence, but she objects to Jess going off with Pete. But, probably because she’s buzzed, she lets Gus talk her into continuing to dance.
We then see an awful scene of Jess, almost unable to walk, being taken into a bedroom. She keeps telling Pete no as he nuzzles her neck. He then pushes her on the bed.
Octavio has come to the place to which Nicky asked him to come. It’s Mariana’s grave. Nicky introduces him to his mother. Octavio gently tells him that he’s too young to be going around the city alone. Nicky says that he didn’t really call him because he was lost but because he wanted to have a man-to-man talk. Nicky: “Is it true what the judge said…that you don’t want to be my father?”
Paulina is finishing up her podcast. Last episode we saw a lot of people praising her online. She thanks all the people who were so kind. Vicente comes in and tells her she’s all over the internet, and that the public wants her to keep it up. She hugs him and, seeing Angie’s confused face, hugs her also. When Rafa appears Pau thanks him for giving her career a boost! She adds that she’ll show women how to triumph over adversity, not like “others” who go for married men. Vicente says they’ll revamp Pau’s program, segueing from perfect wife to perfect divorcee. Rafa thinks this is a great idea.
Gus and Sam are on the sofa at Pete’s house. She complains about feeling weird. And then…”Where’s Jess?” Sam pushes Gus away and looks for Jess. She finds Pete on top of her and throws him off. Sam, a bit unsteady herself, helps Jess out of the bedroom. Gus, indignant, asks Pete what he put in those drinks. Gus wants to go help the girls, but Pete stops him. Pete calls Gus an idiot because he couldn’t even keep the other girl occupied. [Those who didn’t trust Pete’s supposed change to a good guy are redeemed tonight.]
Octavio tells Nicky that the judge should not accuse him of things. Nicky persists. “Do you or do you not want to be my father?” Octavio doesn’t answer, but we see a Monarch butterfly land on Mariana’s tombstone. [Mariana from el más allá?] Octavio gets a call from Apolo about an urgent matter at the bar.
Vicente is meeting with the PR woman, Karen. It turns out that response to Pau’s podcast wasn’t all that spontaneous. Karen set things up with “influencers” and arranged the hashtags. The plan was for Pau to appear as a victim. When Rafa enters, Karen tells him that his reputation is on the edge, but she’ll work with him.
Bruno continues trying to be the worst bartender in LA. The guy who had the roll in the hay with Rox (forgot his name) gives him advice about how to treat the female customers and get great tips.
Paloma thanks Loli for the web page she set up for charitable contributions for her father.
So…Nicky does get a “take your child to work day” with Octavio after all. This whole scene at the bar was delightful. Nicky admires the costumes and also meets Gabriel. Gabriel almost tells Nicky what happened to his arm until Octavio makes up a story. Seeing Nicky and Octavio together, Gabriel says: “So this is the kid you wanted to forget about?” Gabriel says something about “los payasos”\ and Nicky thinks he means literal clowns.
La Suerte de Loli – Jueves – Parte 2 de 2
Sam manages to get Jess home (to Paulina’s house). She’s incoherent and mumbling.
Pau gets a phone call from her publisher offering her another book deal. We get some more office idiocies. Angie tells Pau that Rebeca, the Global Radio lawyer, has recommended that Paloma sue Rafael for defamation of character [!!] Pau thinks this is a great idea for Paloma to sue Rafa and also the woman who was in the video, that both she and Angie know who that is.
Loli, Rox, and Mati are in her office pondering who could have leaked the video. Loli tells them that it is over between her and Rafa. They emphatically disagree. Rox adds that she thinks the real reason Loli is breaking it off is because of her fear of commitment. Paloma comes in outraged that Loli didn’t admit to having been the woman in the video. [That was fast!]
Pau comes home to discover Jess on the floor with Sam trying to help her. “What did you take?” She calls Rafael.
At Hunky Bar Apolo tells the guys they’re showing the heir to the business around. Nicky: “Are these the clowns?” They all crack up. Nicky spots Bruno and runs over. Bruno tells Nicky he’s a spy. [Why is Bruno hiding his bartending gig? It can’t be worse than selling knockoffs out of his garage.] Meanwhile Octavio tells Apolo he didn’t answer Nicky’s question about whether he wanted to be his father.
Rafa and Loli arrive to find Jess and Sam passed out. Pau is upset Loli has come, even though Rafa says she’s come because of Sam. Paulina nastily implies that Sam corrupted her perfect daughter. [Ha! It was Jess who went along with drinking instead of studying earlier on.]
Bruno tries to make Nicky a virgin cocktail but forgets to put the lid on the blender.
Loli asks Sam what she took. She’s still at Pau’s and will spend the night. Sam looks Loli in the eye and tells her she wants Loli to find her father. [I’m a bit baffled that Loli doesn’t know anything about Sam’s father considering her close friendship with Mariana.]
Nicky teaches the dancers at Hunky Bar to dance The Robot. And then Nicky learns el bombero (the Fireman) from Octavio and the guys.
Pau continues to say her baby wasn’t like this. [Really? According to what they’ve shown she traveled all the time and Rafa raised the kid.]
Bruno tells Melissa he was working on a business deal. Butter is not melting in Melissa’s mouth. She gives him a bite of cake. He gets a funny look on his face. ”¿Nueces?” It appears he has a nut allergy and Melissa tries the Heimlich on him.
Rox discovers that David has removed her pictures from social media. She starts to cry.
Mati isn’t in the mood to forgive Art.
Loli comes home and finds Octavio with Nicky. Nora begins her usual ghastly accusations. Loli asks why Octavio didn’t call her, and he says he accidentally deleted her phone number. He also tells her he asked for the DNA results again and that he’ll write that letter. [IIRC this is a letter saying he isn’t asking for custody]
Thanks VERY much, novelera, for this wonderful recap--clear, concise, complete, clever. And I loved your comments, which were very much on target.
That scene in the bedroom between Jess and Pete was quite powerful. And it was absolutely clear that, drugged as she was, she nonetheless kept saying she didn't want to do this. It's not clear whether Pete managed to Do the Deed. I think perhaps not, but not for lack of trying. What a pig! I'm happy that Sam managed to get to her and push Pete away. Though how she managed to get herself and Jess back to Jess's house is a mystery. Taxi? "Mover"? Magic carpet?
Pau really showed her true nasty self in the scene back at her house when she discovers Sam semi-conscious and Jess less than that.
For me, the best part of last night's episode were the scenes involving Nicky. I especially loved the scene you mentioned where he teaches the "clowns" how to do the Robot and he learns el bombero from Octavio and them.
I'm not sure what Octavio plans to do about Nicky. I can't imagine that he wants custody, but I suspect he doesn't want to lose contact with him, either. It has also occurred to me that the DNA test might indicate that he's not the biological father.
A few more thoughts: Will Vicente make a play for Karen? Can Bruno manage to stay alive with his newly grown avocados but no functional brain?
Gotta run. Thanks again for this terrific recap!
My goodness novelera, for not really liking this show too much, this was a terrific recap!
“Mariana from el más allá?” And, “Why is Bruno hiding his bartending gig? It can’t be worse than selling knockoffs out of his garage.” Are definitely great questions that I also have. BTW, Romeo is the dancer giving Bruno advice in getting good tips. He was the one who spent the night with Rox several times.
No big surprise that Karen from PR was really only there to help Vicente. I appreciate you detailing that conversation because I missed the dialogue about her “putting the spin” on the response to the last Paulina the Perfect broadcast.
Paulina definitely showed her inside ugly in the episode, not only at work, but certainly at home with the treatment of her own child! What mother just lets the girls lay on the couch without trying to help them? A very self-center one I think.
Pete is a pig! I hope the girls get blood tests to reveal the type of drug was put in their drink and Pete gets put in the pokey! I think I was more disappointed in Gus, who should have ignored Pete and helped the girls home.
How did they get home? Juanita your guesses were good for sure. Maybe it is the same “mover” (is this the Mexican equivalent to UBER?) that keeps taking Nicky to the cemetery and not asking any questions!
I totally agree with both of you novelera and Juanita, the best part of the episode was at Hunky Bar with Nicky. I actually think that is good exposure for a kid to see a self-made man like Octavio be a successful business man. Obviously, the hunky bar crew felt the same about having Nicky there and Octavio in a good mood.
That DNA test is looming large isn’t it? I think Octavio is not Nicky’s dad. That sperm bank doesn’t seem to have a handle on its information so I would not be surprised.
The last and most important question: “Can Bruno manage to stay alive with his newly grown avocados but no functional brain?” Thanks Juanita, that made my day! 😊
Great recap, thanks, novelera. Spot on!
Rafa is like nicely wrapped, but empty package. His brain fell out after he boinked Loli. At this point, I’m kinda hoping that Loli remains a strong, independent, and single “mother” at the end of the show.
Gossip spreads faster than a radio wave at Global so of course, Paloma would find out immediately.
Nothing wrong with a bartending job, is it because it’s at the Hunky Bar? Imagine what Nora would think!
Had the same thought about Sam’s father. Could Loli be lying to Sam? Or, just a wild thought, what if Mari had a one-night stand with Octavio back in the day and he turns out to be Sam’s father?
Agree, the way they are dragging out this DNA reveal is making me think Nicky isn’t Octavio’s son.
Pete is a criminal. Disappointed in Gus, too. The girls got home in the same magic taxi that whisked Marce and his amante away.
Nicky at the Hunky Bar was the highlight.
Don’t know if Vicente really cares for Pau or if he just wants to stick it to Rafa. With friends like him…
dondi356
Terrific comments all! Yes, the scenes with Nicky at Hunky Bar were so much fun. I'm hoping the adorable kid gets to have all those honorary uncles going forward.
I'm positive Pete did not achieve his goal. Rapes have been shown in telenovelas, but I just don't think they'd go with a drugged teenager. Gus certainly was spineless. Apparently his being part of the "cool" group means more to him than Sam. I believe he really does care for Sam and would not have done more than dance with her and steal a few kisses.
I mentioned the idiocy, but let me expand a bit. The lawyer, Rebeca, is an employee of Global Radio. And she advised an employee to sue another employee for defamation of character? And the only evidence that Paloma was harmed in any way was Chismosa Lupe having said that Paloma and Ricardito were in the office at the same time?
Vicente certainly knows how to make lemonade out of lemons, doesn't he? First he leaked the video. I'm pretty sure that was 80% about increasing ratings and, maybe, 20% wanting to drive a further wedge between Rafa and Pau. And then he gets someone to spin Pau, his erstwhile lover, as a victim.
Dondi, your idea about Mariana and Octavio having produced Sam would tie a neat bow on the whole thing.
The kids have used "mover" many times. Is this because they don't dare use Uber because of some weird copyright thing? I've seen programs in English where people clearly say they took an Uber. I have never taken an Uber, so I have no idea of its cost. But it seems odd these teenagers and even Nicky seem to have enough disposable income to be flitting around LA in them.
There had BETTER be some consequences for Pete. I'm afraid they'll go with Jess having no memory of it.
VVS, thanks for coming up with Romeo. It's a perfect name for him but wasn't in my memory bank.
Juanita, loved the "newly grown avocados but no functioning brain". At least they didn't go with Marcelino and the sidepiece staying in Bruno's house for weeks on end. And...Melissa forgets that her husband has a huge nut allergy? It's easy to see why Carol wanted to join Sam's study group. Having the DNA from these parents is a big handicap.
I'm not too hard on Rafa. He's sort of in the normal range of galanes getting so crazy in love with the female protagonist that they throw caution to the winds.
Octavio tells Loli he doesn’t know what he will do. When he gets the results, he will let her know. He leaves.
Rox starts her show. She can’t lie to her listeners. She says she messed up and didn’t forgive someone for a mistake. I couldn’t see how much they loved me. Mati listens intently. We get afraid because we don’t want to be disappointed. And yes, sometimes things don’t work out well.
Rox: “The prince becomes a frog.”
Cut to Jess and Sam stirring in bed. Gus is trying to reach Sam, we need to talk, but she’s not answering his calls or text.
Rox: “But they are not all frogs. Sometimes they are just weak. They are human. But we want to judge them as if we are perfect.
Cut to Loli in her car, texting Sam and wondering if she should call Rafa. Ah, Rafael, she sighs.
Rox: “so we end up pushing love aside. Waiting for Mr. Perfect. Know what? Mr. Perfect doesn’t exist that’s a fairy tale.”
Rox: “ I think you always have a chance to take hold of the reins.”
Cut to Rafa thinking back to Loli breaking up with him.
Rox: Listen girls, life goes by too fast. We rarely get more than one shot. If you love someone, stop being stupid. Learn to accept them and their mistakes.”
Rox: Most of all, tell them you love them, so you won’t go through what I did. I was waiting for a sign and it was in front of me the whole time”
Cut to Octavio. He gets the DNA result.
Rox: The love of my life tagged me online. So, I’ll tag him today on my show. if anyone out there sees my David, tell him I love him and that I forgave him. Go to the person you love and tell them. Look them in the eyes and tell them you love them. Don’t go through what I did.”
Sam asks Jess how she feels. She has a bad headache. She tells Sam, I don’t know what happened with Pete. Sam says I saw you in his room, but everything was fuzzy. Jess cries, I don’t even know how I got into his room. I swear I said I didn’t want to. I swear…. Sam tells her it’s not your fault. Jess says her parents can’t find out. don’t tell my parents. Sam won’t talk, but the doctor said last night that we took drugs.
Jess doesn’t want to expose herself like this. If people find out, they will talk about her at school. Sam assures her she won’t say anything. She comes up with an excuse—they were experimenting. No one is going to hurt us. They hug.
Rox is wrapping up her show. Wait one more call… Caller says, Rox, you are a very beautiful and special woman. He should have fought for you. That’s what I would have done. Rox asks for his name. He says I’m just the man who’s going to win you over.
Mel shows up at Global with cupcakes for Bruno. She’s on the phone with him and asks him to come to the front desk. He lies and says he’s not in the office, he’s doing something for Pau. She leaves the cupcakes at the front desk. Front desk calls Bruno, she’s gone. Why did you lie to you wife? What should I do with the cupcakes? Eat them, they are delicious. Front desk makes another call. Girls, code FFWG: free food with gossip.
Post show talk with Rox and Mati. Mati says he cried during today’s show. She needs David to forgive her. She feels you should fight for the one you love. And speaking of fighting for the one you love…. Art shows up at the station. He asks Mati, know what today is ? Five years and two months ago we were in line at the market. We were there like any other day. We suddenly looked into each other’s eyes and without emotion, decided to get married. Art realizes that wasn’t the way Mati wanted it. The good thing is life is full of second chances. He enlists Mati’s co-workers to hold up signs that say will you marry me again? Art gets down on his knee and proposes they renew their vows and have a party. Mati is happily surprised.
dondi356
Octavio nervously opens the envelope. He starts to read. A butterfly lands on his table. He leaves a message for Loli: I got the results. I am Nicky’s father. He continues reading; Octavio’s not Nicky’s father after all. Octavio looks very sad.
Loli arrives at Pau’s. She’s come to get Sam. Rafa is there too. It’s uncomfortable.
Octavio calls Loli again---please call me, it’s urgent. Octavio talks to the butterfly, this is the worst idea I have ever had, but I’m doing it for the kid. Gabriel wakes up and asks what’s up, who are you talking to? Octavio sends him out to get breakfast. The butterfly is gone.
Mati says yes to Art.
Loli, Rafa and Pau speak with the girls. Sam gives them the excuse and that all the kids are doing it. What did you take? Sam says it was a pill; we don’t know what it was. Where did you get it? Who gave it to you? Was it at school? Sam says, we learned our lesson… it was stupid. Can we please just forget it? Loli says it’s important to know where you got it. The girls don’t want to go to school. Pau thinks it’s because of the video. Rafa says the issue is about what happened yesterday. He wants to know what they took and who gave it to them.
Gus tells Pete Sam is not answering him. He accuses Pete of spiking their drinks. Pete admits he gave them something to “relax”. What were you going to do to Jess, he asks? Pete yells, stop whining! It was nothing that she didn’t want. You interrupted us. Gus sees Carol and asks why Sam isn’t in school and neither is Jess. Carol has no idea. She tells Gus you and Pete art the boyfriends so you should know where they are.
The gossip girls enjoy the cupcakes.
The interrogation continues. Rafa realizes they are at the experimental age, but they need to know what they took. Helpful Pau asks Jess if Sam made her do this. Rafa says we need to know so we can help you. Sam wants to talk it over with Jess first.
Octavio is meeting with his lawyer. The lawyer asks, why can’t you give me the results? Octavio wants to talk to Loli first. Lawyer says, If I don’t have the results, I can’t prepare the document for the court. Octavio will give him the results, but he wants to do things his way.
Apolo heard him talking to the lawyer. Why didn’t you give him the results? Because I’m not Nicky’s father, Octavio answers. What happened ? What’s with this sperm bank? They are idiots, Octavio replies. Apolo says, what a mess but didn’t you want to be free? Octavio feels bad for Nicky; his mom just died and this will crush him. He tells Apolo he messaged Loli it was positive to give him time to think. Apolo thinks that was a stupid move.
Rox is talking wedding plans while Mati is off daydreaming. Aren’t you exited to renew your vows? He’s thinking about what Arturo did. Rox says Art is trying. He loves you. We are human, we make mistakes. He says Rox is right. Sometimes he’s scared about making the right decision.
Jess asks Sam, do you think Gus and Pete will say anything? No why would they? They should be worried about us telling. Did Gus do anything to you, Jess asks? No, but Sam doesn’t remember much. Sam wonders if they should say something; maybe they have done this to other girls. Jess is too scared to speak up. She says her family has had enough scandal. She wants to keep this quiet. Sam says they will talk when they are ready.
Rafa tells Pau they need to give Jess time. Pau thinks Jess is getting back at them for their lies. Sam leaves. Pau wants to cancel today’s show and stay with Jess but Rafa volunteers to stay. Pau doesn’t want Jess to hang out with Sam anymore. Don’t even mention her name in this house.
dondi356
Loli and Sam talk in the car. Loli doesn’t want Sam to get in trouble. You sound like my mom, Sam says, you don’t want me to get in trouble or you don’t want trouble with Pau or your boyfriend? Rafa isn’t my boyfriend and I sound like your mom because I was her best friend. Sam gets upset and says she’s sorry. She doesn’t want to cause trouble. Loli doesn’t want her to be exposed to bad situations. Sam promises never to do this again. Loli suggests they go somewhere else instead of home.
Jess is in her room crying. Rafa comes in. Do you want something to eat? Just leave me alone, she says.
Mel’s credit card didn’t go through. She makes a call to Bruno and leaves a message: I need money, I’m broke. She makes another call to the front desk. Oh, we loved the cupcakes! Bruno was out all day and we didn’t want them to go to waste. Do you have more? Mel is miffed those were for Bruno. Front desk girl (FDG) offers to pay for the cupcakes. No, Mel says, I don’t work, and I don’t sell cupcakes. FDG thinks Mel should sell them. Can I make an order? Mel repeats, I don’t work, and I would never make cupcakes to sell. Mel hangs up, annoyed, but then she says, hmm, my cupcakes were a hit.
Gabriel is speaking to someone. I didn’t disappear. I’m having a few rough weeks. I’m in LA. I know I owe you, but I don’t have the money yet. Octavio overhears. Gabe says, I’ll call you as soon as I have the money. Everything okay, asks Octavio. Yes, Apolo asked him to bring this box and the door was open. Octavio checks to see if the safe was opened.
Loli takes Sam to her apartment. Sam thought they would go shopping. They look at a pic of Loli and Mari. Loli starts, your mother was my guide, my rock. My motivation. Your mother saved me. I come from a dysfunctional family, she says. My mother died when I was little. My dad preferred gambling to raising a daughter. Sounds fun but it wasn’t. I came to LA and shortly after, I met your mom. Nora was a nag, but she gave me a family. Your grandmother let me stay in her house; I ate with them. Loli is grateful. It makes her mad to think how they are now.
dondi356
Loli asks about Sam and Jess. Is Jess like you? No, but Sam says Jess doesn’t judge and accepts her as she is. Jess really cares about me. Teary Loli says our friends love us just because... They toast, to our friends. And I hope you will let me be your friend, says Loli.
Vic tells Lupe to cancel an appointment and asks her to call Rafa. He needs to talk to him. Lupe says Mr. Rafa hasn’t been in all day and neither has Loli. If I were you, she says, I’d tighten the reins a bit. Do you know they are together? She makes the finger motions. They are crashing bumper cars. (why hasn’t this disgusting witch been fired?) Vic tells her (too nicely in my opinion), stop the gossip. Don’t you think enough has happened? Still, she persists and wants info on the video! You can go now, he tells her. Finally, she leaves. Vic leaves a message for Rafa. We agreed you and Loli would keep low profiles. What’s this about taking off on the same day? I hope it’s a coincidence.
Loli and Sam continue bonding. Rafa texts has Sam told you anything? Loli puts the phone down. We get a flashback of Sam, Mari and Loli. Sam was trying on a gown. Sam says, I decide to study medicine. I wanted to cure her. I miss my mom so much. So do I, says Loli.
Sam starts to talk, I’m scared Loli. I don’t know what happened to jess and me yesterday. I promised Jess I wouldn’t tell. Loli says, if you tell maybe I can help you. We didn’t to drugs because we wanted to, Sam admits. We went to a guy’s house and had some vodka. We didn’t have much but then I felt sick and dizzy. Everything was blurry. Do they go to you school? Sam nods yes. Loli says, if you didn’t take pills, then they put something in your drinks. Sam nods again. Loli knows who could help them find out exactly what happened.
Cut to Loli opening the door. Thanks for coming, she says, you’re the only person who can help. It’s Octavio!
And we are out.
dondi356
dondi356, yes, I know, I often praise your recaps with superlatives. Sometimes, I worry that I should cut back before my words seem routine, empty. But your recaps really are special, and I think this one is one of the best! There's so much I like about it. Just one example: the skillful way you intersperse Rox's remarks during her podcast with how relevant her words are to each of the other characters, all of whom are listening. I should add that I almost cheered out loud when I read your comment about Lupe, "(why hasn’t this disgusting witch been fired?)." Brava! She disgusts even disgusting Vicente.
Rox sometimes annoys me, but her podcast in this episode was spot on. I especially liked her remarks about the mistake of waiting for Mr. Perfect.
I'm wondering who the guy was who called in at the end of Rox's podcast.
The episode verges on being a PSA when Sam wonders whether she and Jess should say something; "maybe they have done this to other girls." I wouldn't be all that surprised if that turns out to be true of Porky Pete.
As for Octavio...what can I say about someone who makes decisions based on the landing patterns of a butterfly? I'm glad, of course, that he doesn't want Nicky to be hurt, but just how all this will play out isn't yet clear.
The scene between Loli and Sam was quite moving, but I have the awful feeling that it is also preparing us for Nora's redemption. I for one am NOT ready for that.
One question. Loli tells Sam that her (Loli's) mother died when she was very young. But then she says she moved to LA soon after her mother died, and she met Mariana. When I think of "very young," I think toddler age. (That would also gibe with what she said in an earlier episode about not having had a mother to teach her about mothering.) But I don't think she met Mariana when they were that young. Have I misunderstood something?
Anyway, many thanks yet again, dondi356!
Fantastic recap, dondi! I was happy for your getting an episode that had some meat in it! Other than Lupe, and your desire for her to be summarily dismissed, there wasn't as much idiocy.
I actually got a lump in my throat when Loli described how Nora and Mariana became her family. Kudos to Silvia for a terrific scene.
And I am SO glad that Sam is down off her high horse and grateful for Loli coming for her and listening to her. Nora would have completely botched the revelation of the ingestion of drugs and been nothing but judgmental.
Well, those of you who predicted Octavio not being Nicky's father were proven right. And we can see that this has not made him happy. But I have the feeling he's going to keep it to himself. I'm not sure how things will work out with his persistent lawyer who wants a copy of the DNA test.
Juanita, I think Loli meant she moved to LA as a teenager, was perhaps homeless for a while and somehow met Mariana and was taken in. Obviously Loli's independent and fiery nature would eventually clash with Nora. Although I remember one scene where Nora reverted to some semblance of mothering and comforted Loli.
Mati is conflicted about renewing his vows. It seemed to me that he agreed because of the pressure of all the employees being there. Wonder if he'll end up with Apolo after all?
I predict Melissa's Cupcakes will debut soon and be a big success.
Referring to my comment above about Loli arriving in LA as, perhaps, a teenager, this still does not solve the problem of why she doesn't know anything about Sam's father.
Thank you, Juanita. You make me blush. Simple is good enough. My thanks to novelera as well. I appreciate the kind words and encouragement that helped me become an active participant at Caray. I love this place.
I thought this was a better than average episode.
Yes, who was that guy at the end of Rox’ show? Do we really need him to show up and complicate things?
I feel terrible for Nicky and Octavio. Is there a way for Octavio to adopt him and share custody with Loli? I don’t know how the laws work.
It will be sad if Mati and Art renew their vows only to split up later.
I suppose Nora will be redeemed. She has some goodness deep down somewhere and Loli remembers that. Nora is going to get hers when she realizes Marcelino scammed her.
Glad Loli and Sam are bonding. I guess Mari knew what she was doing when she left the kids to Loli.
I was confused by Loli’s timeline, too. Yes, novelera, there’s still that question about Sam’s father.
Why is Octavio the only one who can help? I’m anxious to find out how.
I agree Melissa is on her way to becoming the cupcake queen.
dondi356
Thank you dondi356 for the super Friday recap. I am so late to the commenting party as I was on call at the hospital all weekend and am just now catching up on my novelas! I hope I am commenting in the correct page because everything looks different on the Caray homepage today!
I don’t have too much more to add to novelera and Juanita’s astute comments and I also agree that this was a pivotal, thoughtful episode.
I think Loli might have called Octavio because as a bar owner, he might have actually seen guys spike ladies drinks and may have some insight as to what might have happened to Sam and Jess? It is a stretch, but hey, this guy is taking advice from butterflies and Loli is as unconventional as they come.
I enjoyed hearing the Loli back story including where she was born in Chihuahua and she making fun of the way she speaks Spanish. I am also glad that Sam is finally warming up to Loli.
After a nap, I will be ready to take copious notes for the Monday recap. 😊
Hi VVS, thanks for commenting.
You're on the right page, but a new one will be up tonight at 8p. Are you referring to the index pages that were posted? It makes it easier to find posts on the shows we follow.
Looking forward to your recap.
