La Suerte de Loli – Jueves Parte 1 de 3
Nicky is showing Octavio his toy cars when Loli comes in. She tells Octavio that Sam is fine with his having dual custody. And also that Sam wants Loli to find her father. Octavio remarks that Mariana left her with a lot.
Nora returns home, sees Octavio and snarks that he’s installed himself in her house, then corrects herself to say Loli’s house. She says she’s going to fix her own dinner. And it’s up to Loli to be responsible for Octavio, the children, and Loli herself. Loli starts to tell Nora about the shared custody she’s planning. Octavio, looking nervous, tells Loli not yet; Nora is getting ready to cook. Octavio and Loli agree to talk over the details of the custody arrangement tomorrow.
Rafael, Paulina and Jessica are having breakfast. Rafa tells Jess that, when the restraining order is removed, he’ll resume taking her to school.
Arturo and Matías look at una portada de una revista (magazine cover) featuring a male couple and their children. Art gets a call from his boss about a new project; but, before Mati can get upset, he tells him that it’s in LA. Art jokes about their having four kids. Mati asks if he wants un equipo de fútbol o banditos duranguenses (a soccer team or some gangsters from Durango).
Octavio tells Apolo that he failed to tell Loli he’s not the bio dad. He saw her excited face and the fact that Nicky is adorable and… Octavio comes up with what he thinks is a great solution. He’ll find Nicky’s bio dad. [This is lunacy. Nicky already loves Octavio; he would NOT want to substitute another guy, even if he does share DNA.]
Octavio comes to The Seed Bank and innocently asks the receptionist to let him know Mariana’s donor from 9 years ago.
At Global Radio Loli has another conversation with Mariana’s photo. “Don’t look at me. It was you who didn’t want to share who Sam’s father was. You didn’t say and you took it with you to the tomb.”
Rox comes in with a face Loli knows well: lo de chisme. Rox says she saw a guy named Rafael in the bar with one Karen and thrusts her phone with the picture at Loli. Loli tells Rox that she doesn’t care. Then, almost to herself: “Ah, this is why she told me to maintain a safe distance from him.” This sets Rox off. Talking at the speed of light, she says that ella está tras los huesitos de Rafa (lit. after his bones… or wants his body). Loli again tells Rox she doesn’t care. She broke things off with this guy a while ago. And she goes on to tell Rox that she’s breaking the law, invading their privacy.
Rafa is on the phone with someone, assuring them that the ratings are good, and what does the son of Pedro Muniz have to do with anything? [I think he may be getting some blowback from another Global Radio sponsor.]
Vicente comes into Rafa’s office to say he’s going to the San Diego office for a couple of days and that Rafa should behave himself. Rafa: “And Paulina?” Chente gets a nervous look on his face and then sighs with relief when Rafa goes on to mention some tweaks he’s thinking of for Paulina’s show.

Karen Cleavage comes into Rafa’s office. He starts teasing her about maybe he needs to paint schools, or pick up garbage as part of his anger management. She tells him that all is well. She thanks him for getting her out of her comfort zone. He tells her that he’s not the client, Vicente is. And she brightens at this, saying maybe they can do it again.
Octavio throws a hissy fit at Seed Bank when they don’t give him the information he wants. He threatens to get their business closed down. The receptionist tells him that some donors are about to “complete their labor” and his shouts could disturb them. When she leaves the waiting room he begins to shout at the top of his lungs to the unseen donors that this is una estafa (a racket, a swindle).
Loli is in a conference room presenting some advertising material to what looks like the Board of Directors. She shows, I think, a new logo for GR, saying that the company is evolving. Rogelio likes it. Vicente, of course, doesn’t like it. He sneers that it’s classical, not radical. Loli doesn’t react to the provocation. She says she’ll keep working on it. Vicente asks if maybe her private life isn’t interfering with her creativity and maybe she’s losing focus. Rogelio says, and all the other board members agree, that only a few points need changed and that Loli is on the right track. After everyone else leaves, Rogelio asks his rotten son if it’s only because it’s Loli’s work.
Apolo teases Octavio for still not having told Loli he’s not the bio dad. He asks when? When he’s enrolled Nicky in Harvard, when Apolo attends the baptism of his children? Apolo pretends to be Octavio on his deathbed, wheezing: “Nicky, I am not your father.”
Loli tells Rogelio how hard she’s tried to work with Vicente, but everything she does is criticized. Rogelio says that the problem is that Vicente’s jealous. Loli tells Rogelio that she and Rafa are over and even hints that Rafa may be seeing someone else. Rogelio: ”El amor es como una tos, aunque querias esconderlo, no puedes.” (Love is like a cough; even though you want to hide it, you can’t.)
Rafa comes in to ask Loli about Sam. After she says that, like Jess, Sam is doing better, she asks if Rafa knew that she spoke with Pedro Muniz. They both agree they don’t mind losing that type of sponsor. She asks how he’s doing with Karen…then corrects herself…Karen’s company.
Pau tells Angie that Rafa is up to something with someone whose name begins with K. When Angie says she hoped Pau and Rafa would get back together, Pau says that her nose for this type of thing never fails her.
Rox starts to lie to Mati about having shown the cell phone photo to Loli. Just then Arturo shows up with another person. He approaches and drops the bomb on Mati that his new project is some office expansion at Global Radio! And that the work will take 2 months. After Mati leaves to show Art around, Rox thinks to herself that a week of this and they’ll be fighting like cats and dogs.
The Hunky Bar Fire Department shows up at The Seed Bank. Apolo tells the woman at the front desk that there was a short circuit. She gets up frightened and twists her ankle. She’s then surrounded by gorgeous men. And Octavio slips into the back. After almost being discovered by someone in a lab coat, the Hunky Bar guys manage to keep both women dazzled while Octavio slips out with the file folder he wanted.

Vicente tells Pau he wants her to join him in San Diego. He’s emailed her tickets and, if she doesn’t come, he’ll know this is over (between them). [I thought these two were made for each other, but Pau isn’t bad enough to deserve Vicente.]
Karen tells Rogelio that Rafa has cooperated with everything she’s asked him to do. But she says it’s too soon to give a “diagnosis”. She’s not sure he wants to put the Loli thing behind him and it’s not a good idea for him to be working with a person with whom he had a relationship. Rogelio: “So they should stay apart?” Karen: “Yes, it would be for the best.” [Ah, Karen. You’ve lost your professional integrity here.]
While Mati is showing Art out, Cesar comes in with another gift for Rox. Mati overhears. “You’re Cesar?” Cesar says he’s Cesar’s chauffeur and it’s a big coincidence they have the same name. Then, after a minute, he gives up and admits who he is. He says he told Rox a few white lies, that he was a physioculturista (bodybuilder) and competed as a physioculturista. He goes on to say he did it because he knows Rox likes those muscular guys. But he really, really likes her…that she’s special. Mati tells him that what he said about Rox is what Rox should be looking for in a man. Mati says Cesar deserves a chance, and he’s going to help.
Melissa is at Global Radio telling Lupe that she’s missed her period and can’t bear to think she’s in early menopause. When Lupe lists the symptoms and Melissa has none of them, Lupe announces that she’s pregnant.
We get a scene of Nora, at home, driving an airport employee insane. She is insisting on getting a ticket to Mexico City today. She says she’s tired of being in a country where no one appreciates her. The doorbell rings, and the agent is saved. It’s Rogelio. And Nora smiles!!
Apolo is giving the other strippers some tips about how to quickly yank off their pants when Octavio comes in to thank them for the Fireman Show at Seed Bank. Loli has come to see him. There’s some back and forth about whether they’ll talk in the bar or in his apartment over the bar.
Rafa and Karen are in a bar again. She tells him she’s never enjoyed herself so much in her work. She’s ready to call him her favorite student. She asks to call him Rafa and apologizes for being so hard on him. She comes right out with it. If his divorce is final and his relationship with Loli is over, she could be his new “circumstance”. He doesn’t look that displeased to hear this. But he says he’s placing his attention on another woman. After her face falls, he shows her Jess on his phone.
Rogelio compliments Nora on the coffee. She says it’s from Chiapas. She goes on to tell him about Loli practically growing up in her house because Loli’s father was a mess after his wife died. He says that she and Loli have things in common. Nora’s eyes widen, but he says that Loli is raising two children after her friend died, and Nora also raised two adolescents after her husband died. He goes on to say that Loli always said good things about Nora. And then…he invites her to a gala the next evening, a benefit for Mexican forests.
Rafa and Karen flirt and eventually kiss.
Loli tells Octavio that he was like a gift from the sky for her. They have a lot in common. Neither of them wanted to be parents. Octavio says that maybe Mariana would have wanted them to be like this. He kisses her gently on both cheeks and then moves to her lips. It is so helpful to have these dialogues translated: un equipo de fútbol o banditos duranguenses (a soccer team or some gangsters from Durango) and from Don Rogelio ”El amor es como una tos, aunque querias esconderlo, no puedes.” (Love is like a cough; even though you want to hide it, you can’t.) helped me understand the interactions so much more.
Karen Cleavage!! Hahahaha! Perfect name! For the most part, I have liked the professional outfits the ladies on the show wear, but KC has been borderline with her lowcut blouses. Last night, one wrong move and she was spilling out of that thin blouse. I guess because she is a consultant, KC doesn’t have to follow the office dress code policy.
Chente is borderline with his almost hostile work environment constant critique of Loli. Thank goodness for Don Rogelio keeping things in perspective for other board members. His “come to San Diego or its over” discussion with Paulina truly does show his shallow, self-centered self. Yes novelera, Pau is not perfect and she has shown a few moments of brightness over the last few episodes, being kind to Sam, telling the office gossips that she would not participate in the defamation lawsuit and using her influence at the school to get PP and Gus suspended.
I agree novelera, why is Octavio going down this rabbit hole of now trying to find Nicky’s real dad? The Hunky Bar Fire Department caper was funny and those firemen fun to look at. The receptionist was quick to need mouth to mouth wasn’t she! Where in the heck did they get a real fire truck from?

Rogelio and Nora? Wow! I did not see that coming! It was nice to hear that Loli always spoke well of Nora to him. Maybe Rogelio can soften up this shrew!
Yay! Cesar is an honest guy. Glad Mati is going to try to make this love connection for Rox. Mati and Art, I am not so sure about the work situation.
Karen has totally lost my respect with her manipulation of the professional situation. Rafa is on the edge with me too. Why can’t he just keep it zipped for a while and focus on Jess?
Octavio in his skin tight black tee and jeans, Loli in her black dress was definitely sexier than KC and Rafa!

novelera, MANY thanks for this superb recap. I'm in a hurry this morning, so I won't say much. Actually, I could just say "What VVS said." Her remarks were spot on.
I enjoyed the Hunky Bar Fire Department scene most of all. It was done so well that one would almost think they had rehearsed it (or used it) multiple times. I was especially impressed by how quickly they told the receptionist to close her eyes just as Octavio arrived and left. Like the receptionist, I would have happily let the Hunky firemen rescue me!
I think I'm still convinced that Octavio is connected to Sam and/or Nicky by more than his affection for Nicky. I'm wondering whether the folder will tell him that he is Nicky's father. And the Las Vegas photo still makes me think that he and Mariana....
I loved Apolo's askiing Octavio when he will finally tell Loli that he is not Nicky's bio dad. You did a terrific job of describing that scene.
Yup, Karen has certainly lost her professional objectivity/integrity. It may have spilled out when she bent over.
Oh dear, Rogelio and Norita. Damn, I guess she really is going to be redeemed.

I think I'm still convinced that Octavio is connected to Sam and/or Nicky by more than his affection for Nicky. I'm wondering whether the folder will tell him that he is Nicky's father. And the Las Vegas photo still makes me think that he and Mariana....
I loved Apolo's askiing Octavio when he will finally tell Loli that he is not Nicky's bio dad. You did a terrific job of describing that scene.

I missed the fireman scene and those sexy dancers are adorable, but stealing medical records is just wrong. That's such a privacy violation! Or maybe I'm taking a telenovela too seriously? I like Octavio but some of his choices are not good. He should be forced to show us a sexy Argentine tango to make it up to us. If the writers can have stripper fireman help break into a medical clinic, then surely they can fit this in too. :)

And, I 100% agree. Octavio is adorable, a walking sex machine! And, regarding looking grungy, I've had to back off my preferences for years now. I hate the stubble. Not only does it look unkempt and unclean to me, I can attest from experience that my face gets chafed during *ahem* certain moments unless the guy is either clean shaven or with a real beard! Hope that's not TMI!

Karen and Rafa. Karen has a brief moment of clarity when she says, you work at Global and I’m an advisor there. This should be strictly professional. Karen likes Rafa, but she thinks they are “complicating” things. Right, says Rafa. Karen suggests they get to know each other first and then see if they want to “make things complicated”. Rafa agrees. Karen cheerfully says, I’ll see you tomorrow at 7 am. No, on a Saturday? She says dress comfortably and I’ll send you the location. Rafa says, PJs are his comfortable clothes on Saturday morning. Karen won’t take no for an answer.
Pau is looking at her wedding photos when she gets a text from Vicente. Are you coming or not?
Loli and Octavio did the deed. Loli is getting dressed. This isn’t right, she says, it was good, but it wasn’t right. This won’t happen again. She’s stressed. Octavio says you were supposed to relax. She’s annoyed with herself. She says, it’s like a spirit that leads me to do these things. Octavio says to chill. Loli doesn’t want things to get mixed up. She doesn’t want Nicky to think they are together. Octavio is cool about the whole situation. We can do this again or not. We had a good time, he says. Do you want to do it again? Loli thinks for a split second….no no no. She’s frantic. Ha, Octavio offers her a lollipop. She finally leaves.
Nora is going through Mari’s clothes, looking for something to wear to the gala. She’s talking to Mari. Nicky sneaks up on her; he couldn’t sleep. I heard you talking to mom, he says. He asks her what is a gala? She downplays it. Nothing, a fancy party. Can I help you find a dress? No, it’s late. She walks him back to bed.
Mel takes a pregnancy test. She’s freaking out; this can’t be possible. I can’t be pregnant now. Bruno shows up and she kicks the test under the bed. He senses something is wrong. She says she has a headache. He will give a massage before they go to sleep.
Next morning Rafa is at the park waiting for Karen. He’s half asleep. Want to run, she asks? How about breakfast first, he says. Eggs, bacon, chilaquiles. We will talk and get to know each other like normal people. Karen gives him a break; they’ll only do 4 miles today instead of her usual 5. She warns him she is super competitive. Loser buys breakfast.
Nicky asks Nora if she found a dress for her party. Sam asks about it. You have a date grandma? No, it’s not a date, just a gala and I’m going with a friend. Loli says it sounds like a date. Nora denies it’s a date.
There’s a car horn. Nicky says it’s his dad. They ae going on a picnic today. Loli gets nervous. Sam says what’s wrong, it’s just Nicky’s dad.
Bruno tells Apolo he can’t work this weekend. He needs to be with his family. Apolo says too bad, if Cata wants to see you, you have to go. Even if you’re dead, resurrect, see her and die again. Remember she’s an important client. Apolo hangs up.

Rafa brings Karen breakfast (fruit) for the fit girl who loves to wake up early and go running on the weekends. She says she works hard Mon-Fri and this is her way of resting. Rafa says, for me resting is sleeping late, eating in bed, and breaking things, of course. Karen hates the treadmill. There is nothing like this. (being outside in the fresh air) She closes her eyes and takes a breath. Rafa does the same. Do you like it, she asks? I like it more and more, he smiles. A woman with a baby goes by. She tells Rafa she has a baby, too. She shows a picture. Her name is Bambi she rescued her from the street. (Don’t know what kind of animal Bambi is.)
Karen tells him “no se puede juzgar una casa por su fachada”-- You can’t judge a house by it’s façade. They translate this to don’t judge a book by its cover. She thought Rafa would run much faster. Rafa says it’s Saturday and he has speed limits. Rafa says they can have a rematch next Saturday. She asks if he likes hockey; she has tickets. Yes, he likes hockey, and he will go but he has to check in with Jess first.
Octavio is sorry he didn’t tell Loli about the picnic and that they got all caught up in whatever it was. Loli doesn’t want to talk about that. It won’t happen again. But we had fun, says Octavio. They go back and forth until Nicky comes and interrupts. Nicky tells Loli to get ready and Sam is coming, too.
Nora couldn’t find anything nice to wear on her shopping trip. Loli makes a call. She’s going to get Nora a dress worthy of the red carpet. Loli wants to do this for Nora but Nora doesn’t want her help.
San Diego: Vicente is sleeping in his hotel room. He wakes at a knock at the door. Go away. I put a do not disturb sign up. Another knock. He opens the door. It’s Pau.
We are at the picnic. Sam asks is Jess can come over later. Sam steps away to call her. Nicky wants to go play. Loli sprays him with bug spray first. Ha, she tries to spray Octavio, but he says they don’t bite him because he’s tan. Loli has a problem with the way Octavio is looking at her. it’s confusing her. She starts to talk about a visitation schedule for Nicky. Does he want to pick up or drop off Nicky at school? Octavio wants to talk but not here and now.
Cata is playing for her Brunis. She recalls how she spent weekends with Paco. She appreciates Bruno’s company. She likes being heard. Bruno totally understands. She’s going to pay him double today. He puts up a fight to be polite. She insists. He accepts and thanks her for insisting. She starts playing again.
Loli is talking about parenting courses they should take, separately, of course. Octavio wants to talk but not now. He looks serious. Nicky accidentally kicks a ball in their direction. They all start playing with the soccer. Octavio gets a text from Apolo. Did you tell Loli yet?
Back to the blanket. Sam says she is having fun and goes off to play with Nicky again. Octavio reminds Loli they will have to talk but not now. She thinks it has to do with their romp, but Octavio says it’s about Nicky. They have to talk when they are alone, he says.
Nora is still trying to find something to wear. The doorbell rings. A crew of stylists enter with bags and boxes. A little birdie told us you were attending a special party. We came to make you look amazing.

Pau and Vic are in robes having something to eat. I didn’t think you would come he tells her. I called and called. Pau says she didn’t feel well and she considered not coming. She was looking at photos from years ago. She was so happy then. Those pictures made her think. I was fighting a battle I already lost. It wasn’t fair. I deserve to be happy she says. I don’t see anything wrong with it being with you. That’s the most beautiful thing you’ve ever said to me. Vic says.
Mati is with Cesar at his restaurant. Cesar wants Mati to be honest, do you think I have a chance with Rox? He doesn’t know but he will give Cesar tips on what she likes. Mati says to call Rox now. Cesar needs time to get in character. Besides, he’s embarrassed to do this in front of him. Mati talks him into calling.
Rox answers. How are you? How was Vegas? Great he says, I’m about to walk into my fitness conference. Rox has been missing all the sweet things he tells her. Cesar starts: You live inside of me. I think of you alone…. Mati gives the cut signal, but Cesar continues. Rox eats it up. How romantic and sentimental she tells him. Cesar sees the look on Mati’s face and asks Rox if he can call back later. Mati says there’s a difference between romantic and cheesy. Cesar is discouraged. We both know I don’t stand a chance with Rox. Mati likes him for Rox. She needs a man like you, he says.
Loli, Sam and Nicky arrive home. Nora is all dressed up. You look gorgeous, Sam tells her. Loli sends the kids off to shower. Loli wants to know who the lucky guy is that’s taking Nora out. MYOB says Nora.
The bell rings. It’s Rafa and Jess. Jess tells her dad to enjoy his outing. Loli asks you are going out? Ooops, not her business. Loli tells Rafa to come back for Jess tomorrow, whenever he wants. He says okay and leaves. He didn’t even enter the house.
Apolo tells Octavio he is digging a deep hole for himself. He will tell him in 5 words in his own language: “Vos no sos mi hijo”. You should give them the file you stole as a gift. Why are you so insensitive, he asks Apolo. If I need to tell him not his dad, at least I want to find his real one. Octavio recruits Apolo to help.
Lupe is at Mel’s (Why? I can’t stand anything about this woman.) Mel says I called you because I trust you. (What?) Lupe grabs a cupcake. (the way this woman eats the cupcake sickens me) Lupe listens to poor Melissa while she eats….ummm…hmm…uh,huh…. Just focus on the pregnancy, she advises. Mel says that’s the problem. This wasn’t on her radar or in her dreams. It’s a complication. Lupe tells her they say a child is a blessing.
I’m no busybody (gag), says Lupe, but you said Bruno is making good money. So what is the problem? Mel feels this house is cursed; they go from one disaster to another. Imagine being pregnant at this age. Carol comes in and asks, who is pregnant? Mel quickly answers-- Lupe. It’s a miracle. Carol says it’s embarrassing. Lupe doesn’t appreciate Mel dragging her into this mess. In a few months, Lupe will still have her figure and Mel will be a whale. What will you tell them? You have gas? Sit your family down and tell them the truth.
Cata wants to play one last song for Bruno. Suddenly, she asks Bruno to hide. He ducks behind a couch. A man comes in (maybe a gardener?) Aha! I found you Catalina! You were supposed to take care of the boss’ household while he was gone, not eat his food and drink his wine! You even spent all the money he left for dog food! You are the worst housekeeper we ever had! You’re fired! The man leads her out. (I never expected this!) What’s Bruno going to do?

Lupe is at Mel’s (Why? I can’t stand anything about this woman.) Mel says I called you because I trust you. (What?) Lupe grabs a cupcake. (the way this woman eats the cupcake sickens me) Lupe listens to poor Melissa while she eats….ummm…hmm…uh,huh…. Just focus on the pregnancy, she advises. Mel says that’s the problem. This wasn’t on her radar or in her dreams. It’s a complication. Lupe tells her they say a child is a blessing.
I’m no busybody (gag), says Lupe, but you said Bruno is making good money. So what is the problem? Mel feels this house is cursed; they go from one disaster to another. Imagine being pregnant at this age. Carol comes in and asks, who is pregnant? Mel quickly answers-- Lupe. It’s a miracle. Carol says it’s embarrassing. Lupe doesn’t appreciate Mel dragging her into this mess. In a few months, Lupe will still have her figure and Mel will be a whale. What will you tell them? You have gas? Sit your family down and tell them the truth.
Cata wants to play one last song for Bruno. Suddenly, she asks Bruno to hide. He ducks behind a couch. A man comes in (maybe a gardener?) Aha! I found you Catalina! You were supposed to take care of the boss’ household while he was gone, not eat his food and drink his wine! You even spent all the money he left for dog food! You are the worst housekeeper we ever had! You’re fired! The man leads her out. (I never expected this!) What’s Bruno going to do?

Gabe is speaking secretly on the phone again. I just need more time. I’ll get the money. Octavio walks in behind him. Who are you talking to? He takes the phone out Gabe’s hand, but the person hung up. Are you in trouble again? Stop talking to me like you’re my father, Gabe says, you don’t know me. Octavio says tell me, I’ve got time. I’m not a criminal, Gabe says. I’m working here because I need the money.
Loli comes into the girls’ room. She says that Nora snuck out of the house like a teenager. Loli thanks Sam for watching Nicky. She’s going to settle things with his dad. Jess asks if Loli and her dad are fighting. No, things got complicated, so we called it off. Jess wants to apologize about how she acted. Loli says it’s ok, she understands. Jess admits, they looked happy together. In fact, when he came home today, she thought he was with her. Loli is glad Rafa is happy (not!). She slams the door on her way out. Sam asks if Jess is really ok with her dad dating Loli. Jess says her parents can do what they want as long as they don’t kill each other. She’s tired.
Rafa takes Karen to his place after the game. Hmmm…there was the kiss cam at the game. Rafa asks if she wants wine. Karen likes his apartment he has good taste. He pours the wine. Cheer to getting to know each other better.
Bruno relates his Cata story to Apolo. He barely got out of there alive. There were guard dogs. Bruno is cleaning in the kitchen and he the pregnancy test in the garbage. He says, I’m going to be a grandfather?
Art is there at Cesar’s restaurant. Mati introduces them. Cesar is grateful Mati is helping him with Rox. Art wants to leave to get dinner. Cesar says you are in the best restaurant in LA and he insists they eat there. Art says they have other plans, but Cesar won’t take no for an answer. Art wonders if Mati should be messing with Rox and Cesar. Cesar brings them giant margaritas. Art says to Mati this has too many calories and this isn’t his cheat day.
Rogelio and Nora are at the gala. A shame I couldn’t say hello to Loli, he says. Nora says it’s for the best. They haven’t been getting along lately. (mostly Nora’s fault) Why ruin such a lovey night for the both of us. Rogelio agrees and Nora takes his arm. They make a nice couple.
Gabe takes out the trash. Someone approaches him, we don’t see who. What are you doing here again? I told you I don’t have money. It’s a girl. She says that’s not why she here. She made some food for him. He warns her no one can know you’re here, sis.
Sam and Jess are having a quiet night, watching TV. There’s someone banging on the door. He yells Jessica! Sam! It’s Pete! The girls are scared, they huddle together. He continues to bang and yell. I know you are in there. He looks drunk or stoned. I saw your stories, he says. Open the damn door!

Thanks very much, dondi356, for not letting even the winds stop you from writing this excellent recap. I appreciated all the detail and the brief but on-target asides.
I thought Nicky was very cute in the scene with Nora. She admits that she was talking to Mariana, and he tells her that he talks to her every night before going to bed.
I can't imagine letting someone boss me around the way Karen bosses Rafa. Geez, he wants to sleep in and she insists the get up to go on a 4-mile run at 7 am. God, what a wimp he is! I think it's clear that that relationship isn't going to go the distance.

I confess I'm puzzled by Mel's pregnancy. I thought she and Bruno still weren't doing the deed, though they're now on better terms. And if they ARE sleeping together, why would Bruno assume that a positive pregnancy test was Carol's rather than Mel's? Moreover, since he thinks it's Carol's, why isn't he upset at his teenage daughter becoming pregnant by some unknown-to-him guy. I don't see that as a sign that Bruno is an easy-going guy, I see it as a sign that he's a clueless and irresponsible father.
Wow, like you I was blindsided by the development with Catalina. So where did she get all the money she was giving Bruno? Surely the money for dogfood didn't amount to over a thousand dollars. And apparently she's also been a heavy spender at Hunky Bar in the past. Where does a housekeeper get all that $$$?
Thanks for including Apolo's instructions to Bruno about catering to to Catalina: "Even if you’re dead, resurrect, see her and die again." I somehow missed that when Apolo said it. He's turning out to be one of my favorite characters.

I guess with COVID restrictions, we are spared some bedroom scenes (Pau and Chente) and deprived of some sexy scenes (Loli and Octavio). Although I am in the novelera camp, once dondi356 gives Octavio a bath, every guy on this and pretty much every show these days, needs a shave before kissing my sensitive “areas.” 😊
I like Cesar, Mati and Apolo. All are down to earth and really seem to care about people first, not just themselves.
Art, Pau, Mel, Carol and Lupe are all on my nerves and about to be FF through my recorded episodes. Lupe and that cupcake eating scene turn my stomach. Ugh. Mel being preggers, double UGH!
Rox and Bruno have some redeeming qualities if they pulled their heads out of their como se llama’s.
Rafa and Karen, nope, not going to work. Not even her sports bra kept KC safe from spillage!
I am starting to soften a bit with Norita and maybe she just needs some loving from the dapper Don Rogelio. The scene with her and Nicky talking about Mariana was sweet. How nice of Loli to send a team to help Nora get ready for her date. I am sure Loli will support that pairing as Don R and Nora have been like parents to her.
Sam and Jess are the most adult lately, even with the lapse of judgment going to pervy Pete’s place. They ask for forgiveness and have self-reflected on their past interactions and mistakes. Now they just need to get off social media or stop telling people they are home alone! I hope Pete is put in the slammer and the girls are vindicated!
I also hope we get more explanation about Cata! That whole revel was crazy! Lots to unpack there.

I mentioned this before, but I think Covid must have messed with the shooting schedules and created some head scratching plot holes. VVS, I don’t mind missing Pau and Vic either and would have enjoyed more Loli and Octavio, too.
Is that all for Cata? What was the purpose of this storyline? Just a waste of time? As for the money, the rich boss supposedly left enough money to take care of the entire household while he was away. He must be on an extended trip. Apparently, she was spending every penny on herself, including the dog food allotment.

She's only interested in the cupcake and Melissa could turn to stone in front of her eyes and she wouldn't mind. And she threw in the bromide at the end about a baby being a blessing, said with absolutely no warmth.
Yep, the Cata story line was extremely weird. I can't remember for certain which expression the guy with the big sombrero said: ama de casa o ama de llaves but they both mean housekeeper which is usually a step up from maid. Most of the ricos they show on novelas have some female who has a lot of responsibility and manages all the other employees, such as maids. So, unless they elaborate, it appears she has a desperate need for companionship and used the household money to spend at Hunky Bar.
Yeah, I agree that the Karen Cleavage story line is just a "keep the main protagonists apart" device.
I must say I am impressed. Telemundo has managed to have our female protagonist bed three men so far...although one of the boinks wasn't in an actual bed. Haven't watched many Uni novelas lately but I wonder if they would do this.
I don't think it's odd that Bruno jumped to the conclusion that it was Carol's pregnancy test. Melissa isn't exactly old, but Carol is more likely to be at high fertility age.
Art is hanging on by a threat in my predictions for his marriage lasting. He clearly wanted to leave the Mexican restaurant and head for some joint that resembled the upwardly mobile type place where he met the "other man". Cesar is a very nice, humble guy and he presented those margaritas with a lot of pride, saying they were on the house. At least Art waited for him to leave before griping about the calories.
For some reason, can't say for sure if the word hermana was actually said, but I am under the impression that it's Gabriel's sister who needs the money. Doubt it's for an abortion because no one ever goes through with one in a telenovela.
