Fragments from my memory - Wednesday night:

Pau disappoints me and ends up in bed with Vicente. He all but twirls his moustache demonstrating how evil he is. He hints at some dark plan. And also mentions starting his own radio station [novelera laughed out loud].

Karen is a bit out of sorts about the Tibetan adventure. She threatens legal action over the phone and confronts Rafa and Loli. They are giggly, apparently still high.

Terrible is hired, apparently because of Loli. She gets warm thanks from Rafa and IIRC none at all from Karen.

Child protective shows up at Hunky Bar about Gabriel and Christi. These two apparently went to the same training courses as the one who was grilling Loli a month or so ago..nasty all the way. The kids escape and spend the night at Loli's house, secreted away by Sam.

The truth about Octavio having spent time with Nicky is revealed to Loli.

Melissa thinks she's going to be a star at GR but faints away at work.

Arturo's sister got a job in Vegas and left their mother alone. She appears to have dementia. But she certainly remembers Mati and is very fond of him. Mati volunteers to care for her and take a day off from GR.

That's about all I remember.

loli

Thanks very much, novelera, for getting the ball rolling.

I loved your describing Vicente [hiss here] as "all but twirling his moustache demonstrating how evil he is." And I too was disappointed in Pau for apologizing and telling Vicente "I'll do anything to be with you." Has she forgotten her concern about how Jess will take this "new" development?

I enjoyed Rafa's accidentally calling Karen "Loli." After all the new agey garbage in Tuesday's episode, I found myself disliking Karen more intensely, but apparently she too wash't pleased with a lot of what happened during their team-destroying exercise. Indeed, Rafa seemed more pleased than she was, which also annoyed me. When told that they were drugged, he says "but it was fun."

So I guess I was wrong about the favor Domingo was going to ask of Bruno. Apparently he asked Bruno to accompany him in a visit to Mariana's grave. Why does Domingo care so much about Mariana? Just because she was Loli's best friend???

Well, I now think it's likely that Melissa will have a miscarriage. I've been thinking that might happen all along, but last night I felt more sure. She was having some discomfort, and she says to the fetus, "Don't cause me problems, baby. Carol did." And not long after that, she goes to Global Radio and faints. An act straight out of the telenovela medical manual.

Tonight's my recap night. As always, will post on the late side.

La Suerte de Loli – tonight entitled Tras las rejas or Behind Bars – Parte 1 de 3

Hmmm. In the brief scenes they showed from last night, we are reminded that Domingo and Rogelio know each other and that there’s some mutual hostility. Aquí hay gato encerrado (something odd is going on here).

Vicente is still somehow at Global Radio. He’s in the conference room offering Karen a job. She doesn’t accept. But she goes on to urge Vicente to make things right with Rafael.

Paulina tells Angie about Vicente wanting to start a station to compete with GR, and that he offered her a job. Angie starts to say she knew they shouldn’t have hired a pregnant woman when the piles of work she gave Melissa aren’t completed. She calls Melissa who tells her about having fainted. Unbelievable! The other three gossip hounds have apparently left work and are fussing over Melissa at her house.

Mati has taken the day off to be with Art’s mother. The poor thing says she needs to get home to make dinner for Art and Hilda when they come home from school.

Cesar has come to see Rox and has brought his toolbox. This was to fix the bathroom Rox told him was out of order to keep him from coming in last episode. Ooops! Cesar tells her she’s trending on social media. And then someone calls her about her sharing her show with Terrible Cortez.

Vicente comes into Rafa’s office saying that Rafa’s girlfriend suggested that they talk. [Way to begin, Chente] He apologizes. Regué (lit. I watered…I screwed up). He comes out with the old standby: sobre el corazón nadie manda (no one can tell their heart what it wants). Rafa isn’t having it. He reminds Vicente that he brought Rafa’s ex, the person he had separated from, to LA because HE (Vicente) wanted to be with her. When Chente tries to justify his relationship by bringing up Loli, Rafa tells him that he pintaste el cuerno (had sex with his wife) a year ago.

Loli and Octavio are at Hunky Bar. He offers her a drink, but she refuses, reminding him what happened the last time they had drinks together. She tells him she thinks they are both bad persons for not telling Nicky the truth. Gabriel comes in. He humbly apologizes to Loli for surprising her by staying overnight at her house. Loli gives him a look and asks what’s up between he and Sam. Christi, as usual, makes things worse by saying Sam and Gabo are novios.

There’s a knock at the door. Two nasty cops say there’s been an accusation about two minors and where is the documentation authorizing them to stay with Octavio. Octavio says they can’t come in his place like this. [He’s right. But this is telenovela policing.] They see Gabriel and Christi and a big scene ensues. Octavio and Loli are taken off in handcuffs. Presumably CPS has the kids.

La Suerte de Loli – tonight entitled Tras las rejas or Behind Bars – Parte 2 de 3

Mel and the three who are “comforting” her are playing cards. Domingo and Bruno come in. Melissa calls Domingo Sabado (Saturday instead of Sunday)! Domingo’s eyes light up at the sight of the cards and he asks to join them. He tells Bruno he left his wallet in the car and asks to borrow $20. Apparently they are not playing bridge.

Rox is at her house pacing the floor and raving, having an imaginary conversation with Loli. When she calls, Loli, of course, doesn’t pick up. Cesar keeps calming her down by feeding her spoonfuls of chocolate pudding with chile in it.

Paulina finishes her show, smiling and saying you don’t need to have a toxic relationship with your ex. Someone calls on her cell. He says he’s an admirer. He laughs and says that he knows she’s having a romance with the best friend of her ex-husband.

Rafa, Karen, and Jess are having dinner at his place. Karen gives Jess an envelope full of tickets to some events or performances that cause her to squeal with delight. After she leaves the room, Rafa tells Karen that Jess will love her for the rest of her life. Karen: Y yo a su papá. She says something about thinking out loud when Rafa looks a bit disconcerted.

Pau comes to Vicente’s place upset about the call. Vicente says he won’t permit anything bad to happen to her. [¡Ya basta, Vicente]

Sam is texting both Octavio and Loli. Nora comes in saying she has una jaqueca (severe headache or migraine). She wonders why Loli hasn’t come down for breakfast. Domingo is there and tells Nora, Sam, and Nicky that he got in late. Mati arrives to take the kids to school.

Bruno asks Melissa to invite the women (and Domingo) over again to play cards. [This Bruno scheme is insane; how can Domingo get enough money out of these women to make it worthwhile.]

Mati tells Art over the phone that he’s sure his mother’s problem is just high blood pressure. Apparently Art has taken her to the doctor. Mati is at the office and approaches Pamela, who apparently is HR, and asks for an advance on Loli’s pay. Of course, this doesn’t fly. He gets a message on his phone: #ROX EN HUELGA (Rox on strike).

Rafa and Karen are upset because Rox refuses to go on the air. She’s reclined on a sofa. Karen tells her there are thousands of listeners calling and los anunciantes pegando gritos en el cielo (advertisers screaming). Rafa tries logic. They’ve hired her morning competition and her audience will grow. She just keeps talking about having been betrayed and her theme song will just be playing on and on.

loli

La Suerte de Loli – tonight entitled Tras las rejas or Behind Bars – Parte 3 de 3

Mati takes Rafa aside and tells him that Loli has been arrested. He says that she didn’t tell him why; only that it was a misunderstanding. Rafa tells him to stay with Rox, and he will go get Loli.

Sam is trying to help Jess by suggesting she and Joaquin rehearse that afternoon. Sam will help. But Carol insists on coming along. She pipes up that she loves theater, and saw Hamilton on TV. Joaquin is intrigued and starts asking Carol what it was about; he’s wanted to see it. At this she flits off. [Doubt she's ever heard of Alexander Hamilton.]

Apolo is on the phone with, I think, a bail bondsman, arranging to get Octavio out.

There is a long scene with Mati and Karen trying to reason with Rox. FF>>>>

Vicente is having breakfast with Pau. He’s seen the Rox thing on his phone and is gloating. He believes everything fell apart because he left. Vicente asks Pau to move in with him. Pau tells him very nicely to calm down; her divorce isn’t even final. He says they’ll both talk to Jess to explain. Pau wisely says no. He goes on to say that the worst already happened. Rafa found out. He got fired. He looks at her and says that, if he had to go through all this to have them be together, then it was worth it. [When he gets too clingy; Pau seems to back off.]

Domingo and Bruno are talking. Domingo says he slept so well. But don’t tell Loli about the gambling. He tells Bruno he once won $200K at poker in four hours, but then lost it the next day. Bruno goes on and on about his business acumen and, together with Domingo’s talents, well… [Yikes!]

At Global Radio Melissa tells Angie she’s fine now. Angie (not exactly that concerned) says she hopes this doesn’t turn into a lawsuit for overworking a pregnant woman. Melissa: ¿Se puede? (Could I?) and then quickly backs off. Pau enters and finds out that Loli hasn’t come in and Rafa isn’t there either.

Rafa is in his car talking with Rogelio (hands free). Rogelio wants him to resolve this ASAP. Rafa tells him that Rox will come to believe that Terrible Cortez is good for all of them. Rogelio is miffed that Loli isn’t picking up. He hopes he doesn’t regret trusting the three of them with his company.

Wow! Octavio and Loli are in the same cell, he on the top bunk and she on the lower. A guard comes; Octavio is about to be released. He tells Loli that he has a great lawyer and offers to help her. Of course, she raves on and on and won’t let him help. She starts screaming to be let out after he leaves, and we see that a very delightful drag queen is in the same cell. S/he tells Loli s/he’s going to let her know what problems really are!

Jess and Joaquin are rehearsing and doing very well. Sam compliments them, but Carol says she didn’t believe them one bit.

Apolo refuses to help Octavio find Gabriel and Christi. Octavio backs off that idea but he wants Apolo to help him get Loli out.

Carol is awful as Doña Ines and even plants a kiss on Joaquin. When Sam says she didn’t think that was in the script, Carol waves her off. Jess is going back into her shell. She says that they should stop now because her mother is on her way. Both Joaquin and Sam look disgusted when Carol babbles something about what she did having made things less boring. Joaquin clearly prefers Jess, but she’s withdrawn.

Both Rafa and Octavio are at the jail getting Loli out. It’s not clear to me who paid. Loli blames everything on Octavio and thanks Rafael profusely.

Loli

Thanks for the twofer novelera! I think you covered both episodes splendidly. The image of Chente practically twirling his mustache to plan the demise of Global Radio and his dad was perfect!

Rox was beyond divaness by going on strike (thank you, I didn’t know what #ROX EN HUELGA meant). She could easily be replaced by Terrible completely. Yes, be upset that Loli didn’t tell you, but stop with the dramatics. Mati again is the voice of reason for all things in the episode.

I was so surprised that the police forced their way in to Octavio’s, doesn’t anyone use the peephole in the front door anymore? It is LA after all. I am still not sure how they even figured out the Gabriel and Christi were there. The child services folks were not even with them on this visit.

The jail scenes were silly. Since when are men and women in the same cell? Loli trying to make sure she looked good when they released her was funny. It was Rafa who paid her bail money.

The encounter with Don Rogelio and Domingo (aka Sabado or Augustine lol) definitely has some heavy history.

Mati and Apolo are really good, loyal friends. I hope Octavio does foster parent and then adopt Gabriel and Christi. I am sure the Nicky situation will resolve.

From the Wednesday episode when the child services women were there, I was hoping the Hunky Bar Fire Department might make another appearance to distract them while Gabo and his sis escaped, but alas, that was probably a one and done event.

Thank you novelera! Great recaps.

loli

Terrific recap, novelera! Many thanks. You covered everything important, and mercifully fast-forwarded through some of the more boring stuff. And I'm VERY grateful for all the helpful Spanish you included. Some I knew, but by no means all. And though I guessed the meaning of pintaste el cuerno correctly, I had always heard the phrase with poner. So now I've added a new entry to my list of idioms, most of which I quickly forget, but I suspect I'll remember this one. :-)

Yes, the three gossips have apparently all left work to help bring Melissa home. More reason to wonder how Global Radio gets anything done. Though I guess it's doubtful that the three gossips get much done (except spreading/creating gossip) even when they're at work. (If Vicente weren't such a self-centered bastard, he might well be able to succeed with his plan to start a seriously competitive radio station, with Paulina and Rox as featured podcasters.)

And then there's Bruno. I really don't understand how he continues to function in the world. IMHO, his good heart can't make up for his non-functioning brain. I was relieved that Domingo told him that he lost the $200K the next day, but that didn't seem to register with Bruno. He still sees a sure-fire business opportunity with Domingo.

I wonder who Pau's caller was who knew all about her personal life.

Loli

Thanks, novelera, for a Wednesday highlight and a beautiful Thursday recap. I always appreciate the Spanish you throw in for us.

Another ridiculous episode. Lotta FF>> material

I’m in agreement with comments by all.

The gossip girls all leave work to go to Mel’s?

VVS, yes, Octavio & Loli in the same cell with a drag queen…lol

Juanita, I see you had the thought that Rox might jump ship to Vicente. I had a brief flash on that, too.

I am so frustrated with this show right now.

I’ll do the recap tonight. We are having high winds today and tonight. Hoping my TV holds out. Otherwise, recap will be late Saturday.

Yes, the zaniness of this novela can wear on those who regularly watch them.

I also hope they reveal Pau's caller soon. That was creepy that he had her personal cell number. Didn't he say something about knowing where she lived? [Sometimes I insert false memories into novelas!]

The writers and/or the actor have made Rox just about unwatchable. The initial portrayal of an overweight woman who has a successful career and a man who appears to adore her was promising. But I'm starting to dread her scenes. She just shrieks at the top of her lungs in an almost unintelligible jargon. I can't remember why Loli didn't tell her. Rox was in her office at one time and seemed about to.

Melissa and the cupcakes...going on too long. If she'd started a business, it might have been interesting. And they even showed Bruno baking them! The whole point was that she was such a skillful baker.

Why can't they integrate that charming drag queen into the show as a character?

Hate every scene Carol is in.

Enjoy every scene Octavio is in, even though I struggle with the Argentinian accent. The voseo doesn't bother me; it's just his pronunciation of all words is so different from what I'm used to. I worked with a man from Argentina for more than 10 years. He didn't speak Spanish to me much, if at all, but I noticed that he kind of used neutral Spanish when speaking with our construction workers from Mexico.

Too much Bruno. I enjoyed his time as a bartender until he stole from the cash register. I kept wondering if Hunky Bar paid for all those fancy shirts with fringe that he wore. Or if he found a credit card that wasn't maxed out to use.

I want Gabriel to return...Christi not so much.

Hopefully they'll resolve the Rox/Terrible Cortez thing soon. I don't want to see that much more of it tonight.

Recap will be up later today.

I'm really ticked. I couldn't watch live last night, my Telemundo reception was out.

They haven't posted the episode online yet. I've had bad luck the past few weeks getting the Friday recap up in a timely manner. I'm very sorry.

I'll watch as soon as they post it, and do the recap.

dondi356

loli

dondi356, I know you posted that message several hours ago, but I thought I should mention that the episode is now up on Telemundo's website.

Loli

Thank you Juanita, I'm watching it now. The recap will be up soon.

Loli

Hi dondi356! No worries here. I enjoy reading the recap over the entire weekend mainly because I can't watch the Friday episode until Sunday or Monday based on my schedule at the hospital. Don't rush. I know it will be fabulous!

Loli #44 part 1

Octavio leaves Loli and Rafa at the station. She is so embarrassed that Rafa had to come. Loli doesn’t want to leave yet. She wants to help her new friend, The Divine Gonzi (the drag queen). Loli claims the DG is innocent. The officer says, your divine friend bit a customer’s…..you know what. Loli accuses them of holding her because she is “different”. The officer takes offense and tells Loli he could put her back in the cell for obstruction.
Rafa claims that Loli was denied her rights when you wouldn’t let her make a phone call. Things get testy and the officer want to take Rafa in for verbally assaulting an officer.

Domingo has been trying to reach Loli. Nora is ragging on her in absentia for disappearing. Finally, Loli calls Nora. Nora tells Domingo that Loli’s car broke down and her phone wasn’t charged. She’s with her boss, he will bring her home.

Mati comes home. He asks about Art’s mom. It’s what he thought—his mom has Alzheimer’s.
Rox and Cesar arrive at her apartment. She’s ticked she still hasn’t heard from Loli. Cesar tries to calm her down; Loli must have had a good reason for not telling her right away. [Yes, there are a couple of reasons and one is Rox herself] Rox goes on about the betrayal until Cesar shuts her up with a big beso! Rox likey! And goes back for another.

Dopey Bruno is opening a casino in his garage! Melissa is not very happy. He tells her it’s for her friends. She is angry he spent money on all this stuff. He rented it [does that matter?] He will soak them of their money and then shut the place down. Don’t touch me, Judas, is Mel’s response.

Rafa takes Loli home, they talk outside the house. Well, that was interesting, Rafa says. Being locked up? Well, it was a new experience. Loli asks him what he thought of Divine. Rafa liked her and he’s going to ask his lawyer to help her out. Rafa asks Loli not to be mad at Mati. He didn’t know what else to do. Loli thanks Rafa and gives him a little peck on the lips. Uh, oh. The give each other a look and then go at it.

Pau and Jess have dinner. Jess tells her about her part in the play. And who is Don Juan? A new guy. Pau wants to talk about some changes that might be coming. She might be changing radio stations. Jess questions, do you not want to work with dad anymore? Sort of like that. She thinks it’s best not to be so close. Besides your father is starting over, Pau tells her, and I should, too.

The doorbell rings and Jess goes to answer. An envelope for Pau arrives. Jess clears the table. From what I gather they are cozy pics of Pau and Vic. Jess asks and Pau says it’s just work related stuff. There is a note: if you don’t want these pics posted, deposit 1 million into account #.....

Loli and Rafa come up for air. Awkwardness….Sorry…Sorry. Nothing happened. [I wish] Loli goes into the house.

Octavio returns Sam’s call. She wants to know how Gabe and Chris are doing and she apologizes for Nora. She would like to speak with Gabe. Octavio tells her CPS took them. Chris is back with her foster family and Gabe is at a shelter. Sam asks if he knows where Gabe is, if he needs anything. Octavio has no idea where they are but he will find out. Sam says Loli’s home, she has to go but keep her informed.

Mel and Bruno argue and her friends arrive. Bruno sent them a pic of the “casino”. Bruno has sent the message out to others, too. Mel and Bruno continue to argue. The kicker comes when Mel says: I always trust you and everything goes badly. [didn’t their troubles start with Marcelino and Mel’s blind trust in him?]

Pau calls Vic about the blackmail. This person is crazy. He knows all my personal info and he wants $1 million. Vic tells her he will handle it.

dondi356

loli #44 part 2

Mati and Art talk about Art’s mom. (I don’t remember her name, sorry) He can’t put her in a home. She wouldn’t survive. He proposed she stay with them. Mati says, we both work. Who will take care of her? Art will quit. No, let’s hire a nurse for the daytime, Mati suggests, and we can care for her at night. Art’s mom brings the baby over to Mati, she thinks something is wrong. The baby is “deactivated”. [Does that mean the baby experiment is over?] Mati gives the baby back and tells her the baby is fine.

Rox and Cesar have done the deed. He brings a couple of cocktails to bed. They go for round two.

Bruno has lots of patrons at his garage casino. Bruno is excited, they’ve made a whopping $300 so far! Mel says they are running out of food and drinks, the money they made won’t even cover the rentals. Bruno plans to do this every day! This is a disaster in waiting.
Domingo finds out about the casino and says he will be right over. He lies to Nora and says he was speaking with his sponsor. Nora says go, it will help you.

Rafa thinks about the kiss. He gets a text from Karen, call me. He texts back, things are complicated, we need to talk.

Nora takes Loli to task about going missing. She’s in charge of the house and the kids. I know, Loli shouts. I told you what happened. Loli deflects further questioning.

Domingo comes in. Where are you coming from asks Loli? From losing, he answers. Uh, oh. He makes a lame excuse he’s losing weight and he’s been jogging, With boots on, asks Loli?
Domingo leaves a message for Bruno. He won’t be back, he lost all his Social Security money. Next call is to his sponsor.

Octavio is trying to locate Gabe with no luck. Of course Apolo is there to let him know he’s making a mistake. Octavio ignores him.

Rogelio shows Nora a shirt that Pedro Infante wore. He spent $20K on it at auction. He leaves it with Nora because he doesn’t want to take it to the station. [something’s gonna happen to it, right?] Today is Rox’s first show with Terrible. Nora makes a comment about Loli working day and night and Rogelio tells her Loli hasn’t been at work.

Domingo comes downstairs and Nora makes the mistake of telling him about Pedro Infante’s shirt. His eyes pop out.

Mati wants to know all about Loli’s time in the slammer.

Rox shows up in Loli’s office. Loli lets her have it regarding her behavior. Rox says Loli is a traitor and a bad friend. Let Rogelio fire me, she says, because Global needs her more than she needs it. She rants on and on… Mati can’t listen to any more of this. He tells Rox, Loli was arrested! Loli tells Rox what happened. She would have told Rox about Terrible if she had the chance. They make amends. And, Rox’ and Terrible’s show will have a bigger budget! More sponsors, more followers.

Karen goes to Rafa’s office. We have to talk, he says. She knows what that means. Loli stops in but sees they are busy so she will come back. No, Karen says, come in. You must have a lot to talk about. She leaves to take a call. Loli came to give him the bail money. He doesn’t want to accept. Mati interrupts, El Terrible is here.

If you want to discuss the Rox and El Terrible show in detail, do so here. They argue on the air. FF>>

Rogelio comes in and he’s not happy they are fighting. She will fix it. How, he asks them? Not where you have your heads stuck (donde tienen la cabeza metida)! He rips into Loli for going missing. Where were you, he demands to know. What are you two hiding from me? Rogelio has had it. He says having them working together didn’t work out. Get Rox and Terrible to work together. Got it?

dondi356

Loli #44 part 3

Jess calls out Sam about the kid with the problems who she is sure Sam is seeing, but not telling her. Sam denies it and asks Jess about Joaquin. Not all guys are like Pete and Gus. Take a chance, Sam tells her. Jess gets annoyed and leaves. Sam gets a text from Octavio, he’s found Gabe. Sam wants to go with him to visit.

Loli tries to negotiate with the recalcitrant Rox. And Rafa with Terrible. Both stars make their demands. More FF>> discuss if you want. Deals are reached. It’s all good. Loli and Rafa are happy and give each other a celebratory hug. Karen walks in.

Octavio and Sam speak with someone at the shelter. They claim to be the uncle and cousin of Gabe. Sam says, right dad? [lol... wishing this is true.] They find out that Gabe’s parent are still alive but they have a drug abuse problem. They probably won’t get the kids back. Sam asks about Chris. She will likely stay with her foster parents. Octavio and Sam really want to see Gabe and it’s okayed.

Karen goes to see Rafa about their pending conversation. Karen suggests that they go with Jess to the concert and afterward they can celebrate getting Rox and Terrible to work together. Rafa repeats that they have to talk. Karen doesn’t want to do it now. Later she says.

Gabe runs right over when he spots Sam and Octavio. He gives Sam a big hug. One for Octavio, too. They have 15 minutes to talk. Octavio tells him about the uncle and cousin thing. They laugh.

Loli arrives home to a frantic Nora. She can’t find the shirt! Someone took off their shirt? Your boyfriend, Loli asks? No. Nora starts to explain but Nicky runs downstairs. Did you tell Loli your friend is Don Rogelio, her boss? You’re dating Rogelio? No, Nora deflects. She explains about the Pedro Infante shirt.

Back to the garage casino. Domingo is playing cards. He takes out the Pedro Infante shirt. [no surprise there.] He put it in the pot. Luckily, Domingo wins the hand. [please quit while you’re ahead.]

Bruno wants to introduce Mel to a customer, Michael. He’s a handsome guy. Mel says he looks like El Señor de los Cielos [ha ha, wink wink] He tells Bruno he was right, his wife is gorgeous, and he accepts. Mel asks what that means. It seems that this guy spoke to Bruno about spending the night with her for $5k, if he wins this round. What do you think, he asks? Her eyes bug out of her head.

May I discuss this with my husband? She calls the customer Aurelio… uh Michael. Melissa scowls at Bruno, Judas! You pervert! Selling me like a piece of meat! Bruno says they were still discussing the possibility. Ha, ha, Mel is miffed she’s only worth $5K. She’s worth at least $40k. OMG, Lupe’s been listening in. Do you trust me, Bruno asks? Yes, she does and she’s making all sorts of faces. Does this mean she’s up for it for $40K? This is beyond belief!

And we are out.

dondi356

I’m officially done with Bruno!!!! How stupid can someone be??? Karen darling that break up conversation is going to happen whether you like it or not so stop trying to delay it. You used your cunning ways to take away a man that was never yours and will never be yours so deal with the consequences. I have a feeling Paulina’s blackmailer could be Angie or Vicente. Thank you to all recappers...what will we do without you. Happy weekend everyone.

loli

Dondi, your recap was well worth waiting for. You got at least 50% totally nutty events and you covered them beautifully.

I wish I hadn't deleted the episode, something I do right after watching to save room on the DVR. There were things in your recap I did not see, unless I've totally lost my mind. I do FF>> thru commercials but I'm pretty sure I watch all of the actual show.

So...what I'm saying with this is that there were scenes in your recap that I did not see.

I only saw Nora frantically looking for the Pedro Infante t-shirt and she and Loli tearing up the Living Room looking for it. Nora's frantically telling Loli how she got it was my only clue.

I also did not see the scene where Domingo mentions losing his social security funds. IIRC the first time I saw him last night was betting the T-shirt.

I'm sure it won't go that way, but Pau should go on the air and tell all her listeners that someone tried to blackmail her because she, now divorced, has been seeing a man.

Sometimes I wonder what these writers are smoking. That casino in the garage may be the craziest thing yet, perhaps only matched by Marcelino moving his girlfriend into his daughter's home.

And Bruno is auctioning off his wife's body?

The most level headed person in this show runs a stripper bar. I loved the scene of he and Sam going to see Gabriel. That sullen teenager has been completely transformed by Octavio's trust and affection.

I'll put this up now, but I do have some more thoughts.

loli

What I meant to say and didn't is that perhaps the version on the Telemundo web site is what was actually shot. And the broadcast version allows for commercials. I have noticed for a while that they show fewer at the beginning of an episode and then really lard them on in the last 10-15 minutes.

I remember thinking...Pedro Infante T-shirt...whaaaat? Nora doesn't seem like the type. I thought immediately of a book I enjoyed some years ago, Loving Pedro Infante.

"In the soothing darkness of her local theater, thirty-something teacher's aide and divorcée Teresina "Tere" Ávila looks straight into the smoldering eyes of Pedro Infante and wonders where her life has gone. The impossibly handsome Mexican singer and movie icon died in 1957, but to Tere -- secretary of the Pedro Infante fan club chapter 256 -- he remains an everlasting symbol of the possibility of passion beyond her New Mexico town."

loli

Thanks VERY much, dondi356, for dealing with all kinds of obstacles and nonetheless turning out this excellent recap of a far-from-excellent episode.

Let me jump to the part of the episode and the recap that interested me most. You wrote "Sam says, right dad? [lol... wishing this is true.]" YES! You and I are definitely on the same wavelength. There was no reason for the Las Vegas photo except to show that Octavio was there at the same time as Mariana. And now Sam's calling Octavio "dad," of course in jest, but.... Unlike Domingo, I'm not a gambling addict, but I'm almost ready to put money on Octavio's being Sam's bio dad. Of course, the writers may be playing with us. :-(

Wow, Domingo really is out of control. At least he did try not to continue with Bruno's casino, but Nora's showing him Pedro Infante's shirt was like waving a red flag in front of a bull. When she showed it to him, I groaned Noooooooooooo! He didn't listen.

Dopey Bruno's stupidity has astonished me almost from the start. But until now, I thought that at least he was a decent guy, not someone who would pimp his wife. And Mel isn't any better. She's bothered not so much that he would sell her, but that he asked much less than she thinks she's worth.

I suspect that running an unlicensed casino is against the law. Frankly, I wouldn't feel sad if Bruno were arrested and spent some time in jail (again). But I suspect that isn't going to happen.

I liked your observation that while Mel says that each time she trusts him, things go bad, their troubles seem to have started because she trusted her slimeball father too much.

I think you made the right choice with each of your FF>>s. Thank you!!

novelera, are you saying that you didn't see the scene where Don Rogelio gives the shirt to Nora for safekeeping? When I watched the show on Telemundo last night, I saw both the scene with Don Rogelio and the scene where Domingo talks about having lost his social security funds. (I think he lost several different sums of money, one of which was social security funds.)

Thanks, Juanita. I guess I must be zoning out at times since you and I both live on the West Coast and presumably saw the same 9PM showing of Loli. I do not remember the two scenes both you and dondi described.

Loli

Thank you, MaameAdwoa, novelera and Juanita. Your comments are appreciated.

MaameAdwoa, after Pau spoke with Vicente, I too wondered if he’s in on this blackmail. He seemed pretty calm about the whole thing and gallantly told Pau he would handle it.

novelera, I find myself zoning out more and more while watching. And that’s why I’m grateful for recaps! You didn’t miss much, but it must have been confusing to see Nora searching for that shirt without having any context. I like your idea that Pau should mention the blackmail on her show.

Juanita, I don’t want to give up hope on the Octavio-Sam father-daughter thing. Especially now that they are getting closer, and Sam has a budding relationship with Gabe. Nevertheless, it’s a longshot. Yes, what was the purpose of the Las Vegas photo?

I’m still worried about Pedro’s shirt while it’s in Domingo’s hands.

Chances are Bruno’s garage casino is illegal. Pimping his wife is so very wrong. What happened to this character? They are turning him into another Marcelino.

Octavio’s storylines are still the best ones for me. Shut down toxic Global Radio and put the focus on Hunky Bar :-)

Thanks to every recapper who puts the episode number in the title!

Loli

Thank you dondi356 for the recap for the Friday episode (#44). I really don’t have much to add to the great comments from novelera, Juanita and MaameAdwoa.

The illegal casino, pimping of Mel and the soap-opera that is Global Radio is getting more and more ridiculous.

I also agree with several of you that Vicente is part of scaring Paulina into his arms.

I don’t think Karen is long for Global Radio, it wasn’t like she really worked there anyway. It was just an opportunity to be with Rafa.

I do hope the writers spend more time on the Octavio story and now it seems likes Gabriel has a back story as well. Yes, dondi356, we need more focus on Hunky Bar, the only well-run business on the show!

Juanita, I think your brilliant thought that Octavio is Sam’s dad is really getting closer and closer to a big reveal. Las Vegas, the picture and a romantic dark corner. 😊 I am cheering for this to happen. It would help me get through the Bruno/Mel/Carol/Karen scenes.

I appreciate all the recappers of this show and thanks to those of you who comment on their terrific efforts.

Loli

Thank you VVS! And give yourself a round of applause because your recaps and comments are fabulous!

Karen is just a detour. I like this actress and she was wasted here.

I think a Loli/Octavio household would be a lot more loving and fun than a Loli/Rafa one. Rafa is a decent and attractive man, but I just can’t get on board.

Anyone know how many episodes are left? Yes, I’m already thinking about the end.

Loli

Don't laugh dondi356, but it appears there are 100 episodes for this novela. We aren't even halfway there!

I am also hoping for a Loli/Octavio ending. Maybe when Paulina figures out what a slime Chente is, she and Rafa will forgive each other.

I have enjoyed being involved in sharing ideas and comments instead of just lurking in the cyberspace shadows. I am also feeling more confident with my recapping skills thanks to you, novelera and Juanita's encouragement.

It is my recap tonight for episode #45.
