Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #50
Part 1 of 4

Gonul reads the folded letter tucked between other legal documents. Esma is not his mother? Firat is adopted? If he is adopted, then why did HAG make him responsible for all the family assets? She thinks back to HAG telling Sultana that if HAG died, she would have grandchildren to avenge her death.

Back at the Country House, there is lots of overacting, yelling and accusations, including Handan telling GT that it was probably Reyyan who called Azat to come and save her. This is interrupted by Azat flying into the driveway and stopping his truck in the middle of the commotion. It appears he is quite drunk. Cihan and GT yell, Handan pleads, but Azat yells back telling GT to stop yelling because no one likes it when he yells and that is all the time. (None of us like all that yelling either Azat).

To shorten the drama scene, Azat says yes, I met with Reyyan in the middle of town and saw with my own eyes that she does not love me. You all want me to yank the love I have for her out of my heart, but I cannot. He tells an angry Cihan that he is sorry not to be the son he wants. I was left all alone with this pain, you are all here together, Reyyan is with Miran, but I am alone. My life is over, Reyyan is gone, it’s over. The worst thing is, it is my family, not the enemy that has put me into this place. He stumbles to the house. Handan, Cihan and GT yelling after him.

Yousef stops GT from making more of scene saying, I know you are angry, but you will lose your son (Hazar) and your grandson if you aren’t careful. GT cannot believe that Zerah called his bluff and is ready to tell Reyyan the truth. He laments that he cannot lose Hazar if she makes good on her promise to take him away.

Inside the house, Zerah is telling Hazar that she is glad they will finally tell Reyyan the truth so GT doesn’t have that over their heads anymore. Shockingly, now Hazar wants to wait to tell Reyyan he is not her bio dad. Their discussion is interrupted by Gul who has news that a baby bird has flown into the kitchen. She drags her mother off to see it as Hazar holds is face in his hands, clearly distressed. (Just pull the band aide off already!).

In the garden, Hazar makes a call to Ali to ask how the investigation in the Aslanbey is going out in Kars. Apparently, there is no news to report.

Cihan and Handan are still yelling at Azat, while Yaren is crying as she listens to the noise. Angrily, she says, if Miran and Reyyan are still together, then I will take matters into my own hands! She makes a call to Firat, who is in the kitchen drinking tea, as Esma washes dishes. Hesitating, he answers. Everything okay Yaren? Yes, it is fine, she says, I just wanted to thank you for your help (I can’t even remember for what) and to say I won’t bother you anymore. Firat seems happy that the call is more on the friendly side and not the “my brother is about to storm the konak to save Reyyan” side. He thanks her and hangs up. Esma is clearly disgusted by the call and the silly look on Firat’s face. Yaren gloats that she will make sure to get back into Firat’s good graces exhibiting this new found charm.

Cihan, with Handan by his side, is just railing into Azat about this obsession with Reyyan. In the heated discussion, Azat accuses Cihan of not knowing what love is; he only married Handan because she came from a prestigious family.

Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #50
Part 2 of 4

Cihan shares that he absolutely loves Handan and sat at her father’s doorstep for two years (clearly Cihan was desperate or loco) to finally get approval to marry her. Cihan says that Handan also loved him and that is the difference with Azat and Reyyan. Love cannot be forced and Azat needs to find someone who loves him in return. He shares that Handan is pregnant and the baby needs Azat protection more than Reyyan. Azat looks like he needs another drink. There was more to the conversation, but after Handan started talking, I got bored listening.

It is a beautiful night in Midyat. Miran and Reyyan are on the rooftop restaurant of the hotel. Miran has apparently called ahead and had them prepare dinner. ReyMir stare at the night lights and sky. Reyyan marvels at the beauty of the town at night and wonders what is going on in people’s homes, the laughter, the food, the family gatherings. Miran says that cities make people believe in love and one day, others will look down on the town and talk about their love. Reyyan smiles brightly as Miran escorts her to the table for dinner.

She thanks Miran for all the great things he did that day to make her happy, from calling Melike, to defending Melike, the beautiful clothes. Miran says, I will do whatever it takes to have you look at me the way you did when we first met. I want you to forgive me for everything I have done, to not flinch when I touch you. Reyyan says, lets eat, the food is getting cold.

She begins to eat, but Miran just stares at her, making Reyyan laugh and feel uncomfortable. On the rooftop restaurant speakers, a different song is played (in the Turkish version it is a beautiful love song, in the Telemundo version, it is the theme song) and Miran tells Reyyan, let’s dance. What? Dance? I don’t know how, says Reyyan. You are going to laugh at me. I want all of your “first times” to be with me and I hope we have a lot of them, says Miran, taking her hand.

The music plays as Miran holds her waist and staring intensely into her eyes. Shyly, Reyyan moves her hand up to his shoulder and rests her head. Miran says, I love when you hold me so tightly, no one can come between us. Everything is better with you, more meaningful. I am so glad you decided to come back and be mine once again.

For a few long, romantic seconds, Miran is close to kissing Reyyan but she pulls away, not quite ready for this next step. She talks about the beauty of the starry night. Miran tries not to be too disappointed. (I try too) Reyyan says, stars are so beautiful and look so close, like we can touch them. They are like us, says Miran. Close, but still very far away. Reyyan does not respond, but says shall we go back to the table? They do and continue the meal. (Finally, a little romance, no guns or yelling, just an understandably nervous/gun shy Reyyan).

Back at the farm, Cihan is telling GT that he has a brilliant plan to do away with the enemy and hit her where it most hurts. He wants to marry Azat off to Elif as the new level of venganza. Initially GT is not impressed (who is with Cihan) but then thinks that it might be a viable plan. He tells Cihan that he will think it over but he is not to do anything until GT gives the go ahead.

At the Aslanbey konak, Firat is out in the courtyard, phone in hand, clearly thinking about the call from Yaren. He has a slight smile on his face as he looks up at the stars and inhales deeply. Behind him, we see the shadow of Gonul opening the curtains to look at him. She thinks, are you my…(the scene ends).

Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #50
Part 3 of 4

Hazar finds Zerah in the kitchen washing dishes. She is ticked off at him for not wanting to tell Reyyan about her parentage. She wants to tell her and then get the heck away from GT. For a change, I agree with her.

Hazar leaves the kitchen only to sneak out of the house. He sends a text to someone, saying, I need to speak with you right away, it is urgent.. Meet me at the place where Dilsah and I always met. I will be waiting for you. Cut to Hazar walking down an alleyway and then into an old, almost demolished home. Clearly the old house brings back memories for him. On the wall we see D H carved into the stone. Sadly, Hazar touches the D saying, Dilsah, what did they do to us?

A figure, completely covered in a black burka, walks slowly into the abandon house. The woman stops right in front of Hazar, he says, it has been a long time. She removes her head scarf, it is Esma! Exactly 30 years, she says. He shakes his head sadly in acknowledgment.

Why have you called me here after all these years Hazar? Esma asks. Why didn’t you stop all of this Esma? Hazar responds, why did you let Reyyan get dragged into all of this? I didn’t know what was going to happen, she says. But why did you let an orphan boy grow up in hatred and lies thinking I had killed his mother? You know that I did not kill Dilsah. Why didn’t you tell Miran the truth? I know you and you would never allow this type of injustice to occur. I am not here to blame you; I just want to know how they are keeping you silent? (Viewerville all sit on the edge of their seats).

Esma goes back in memory to a conversation with HAG. She is asking HAG, why are you allowing this to continue? That girl would have incinerated herself and yet you rescue her just to throw her in the middle of the town square in her wedding dress. Why? HAG says, why are you defending this girl, daughter to the enemy, you need to be worried about your own son. Nothing can replace a dead child; trust me I know. (Sounds like a threat to me).

Back to Hazar, she says, you have two children yourself, you know the love of a marriage. But your child is safe with the Aslanbey, he is almost part of the family, says Hazar. No one’s life is safe with that family, says Esma, you know this first hand Hazar. What about my daughter, what about Reyyan? Her life was ruined because of the lies told about me. What should I do? Reyyan is safe, says Esma. Miran’s issue is with you, he loves Reyyan and is keeping her safe with him at home.

Reyyan will never be safe against the evils of Azize, says Hazar. Azize knows that if something happens to Reyyan, says Esma, she will lose Miran forever. So you are not going to help me get Reyyan out of there Esma? says Hazar. My ability to get her out of there depends on you telling the truth. If Miran knows the truth, then he will get Reyyan out of there. You won’t help me?

Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #50
Part 4 of 4

Esma says, you don’t know the risks I took to get out of the house to come and meet you tonight. I cannot do anymore. I also have a son; you need to understand that. Don’t worry about Reyyan. I will take the care of her. This is all that I can offer you. Hazar says, one day the truth will come out and this will all end. Miran will learn who Azize really is and will get Reyyan out of that house. They will not spend another minute with HAG. When that day comes, if you still have a pure heart and conscience, please take care of my daughter. I will do whatever I can to help her stay safe, that is all I can do, says Esma, as she pulls on her scarf and leaves Hazar looking even more concerned.

Back at the Aslanbey konak, Esma hurries into the dark kitchen and pulls off the burka, stuffing in in a cupboard and pulling out her bedtime robe. She quickly puts it on and in relief, pours herself a glass of water. Into the kitchen walks HAG who turns on the light, scaring the living heck out of poor Esma, who drops the water, shattering the glass.

HAG says, are you okay Esma? What are you doing alone in the dark kitchen? I was having bad, bad dreams, says Esma, I was tossing and turning so I decided to come and get some water to shake it off. Oh yes, says the star of everyone’s nightmares, I know those dreams well. They wake you from a sweet sleep and you cannot forget them. I am sure you are just worried about everything going on around here these days.

Esma, smiles in acknowledgement, then squats down to start picking up the broken glass. Her robe opens up and Azize sees her black skirt and street shoes are still on. Totally surprised, HAG tells Esma to leave the mess for Shahriyar to clean up in the morning. Esma is too happy to comply and gets the heck out of there. HAG says to herself, where have you been Esma? Where?

Back in her room, HAG is nervously pacing. She remembers conversations with Sultana and Gonul, both threating her demise at their hand. HAG sits down and twisting those beads says, I will figure it out, I will know who is loyal and who is not.

ReyMir are back from their dinner date and enter the bedroom. Miran leaves the door slightly ajar and with a smile says, would you prefer I sleep outside? Reyyan says, this is your room, you sleep wherever you like. It is our room, Reyyan, says Miran, everything in this konak belongs to us and you have every right to it. I have not forgotten my promise to get a house so we can live together peacefully, but for now, I want you to make yourself comfortable here.

He reaches across her as she recoils a bit and grabs the dresser with her hand, clearly afraid/nervous about what he might want to insist on. Miran takes out his own PJ’s and takes her hand, walking her meaningfully to the foot of the bed. Now I am nervous. The episode ends.

Thank you, VVS. Excellent, timely recap.

A clue for Gonul. Could Firat be her brother? She should do a DNA test. I know it feels like medieval times by the way they behave, but they do use smartphones, so the technology is available. I am glad Gonul has some purpose now, other than obsessing about Miran and Reyyan.

"It is a beautiful night in Midyat. Miran and Reyyan are on the rooftop restaurant of the hotel." - lovely scene, and you described it very well, VVS. (Finally, a little romance, no guns or yelling, just an understandably nervous/gun shy Reyyan). 👍
Original song:
Clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49uL2vD9RKE
Lyrics: https://lyricstranslate.com/en/her-%C5%9Fey-seninle-g%C3%BCzel-everything-beautiful-you.html

So, Esma and Hazar know each other and have not been in contact for 30 years, since before Miran was born. How do they know each other?

Reyyan looked very nervous in the bedroom. When she grasped the table after Miran approached her it was like she was expecting a dental procedure performed.

herc

Thank you, Lucio, for the comments and for providing the link to the beautiful Turkish song.

I was so happy to get a little romance last night. Reyyan has every right to be nervous and grab on to the dresser like she was at the dentist! Very funny! She might be in love with Miran but that trust is not there yet. Miran has a lot more to prove to her to gain that intimate trust.

I have no idea how Esma and Hazar might know each other. I guess Midyat is a small town and maybe they went to school together or she might have been friends with Dilsah? I was surprised it was Esma.

Gonul and Yaren both need to get over their Miran fetish and yes, do a DNA test!

Great recap, VVS, beautifully written. Thank you. Really liked ”Cihan shares that he absolutely loves Handan and sat at her father’s doorstep for two years (clearly Cihan was desperate or loco)” Can he be both?

I am very interested in Cihan’s plan to wed Elif and Azat. I get the feeling Elif wouldn’t mind. Are they going to demand an exchange since they “gave” Reyyan to Miran? I’m wondering if these people are Kurdish. There are a lot of Kurdish people living in this area of Turkey. The Kurdish also marry cousins—one brother’s daughter marries another brother’s son. I’ve seen this in other dizi.

Thanks Lucio for posting the link and lyrics for the song, ‘Her Şey Seninle Güzel / Everything is Beautiful with You” - Zerrin Özer. Miran paraphrased a line from the song “her şey seninle daha güzel” - everything is more beautiful with you. Embajador viewers will remember a version sung by Cem Adrian, when Sancar said goodbye to Nare and Melek at the airport.

“expecting a dental procedure”- lol, Lucio. I also wonder if Gonul will try to get a DNA test done.

Seems Esma’s got her own dark secrets. Does everyone (except HAG) think that Firat is her bio child? Who else was living in the Aslanbey konak when Esma adopted Firat?

Please, Firat, stay away from Yaren.

Hercai

VVS, thank you for every detail as we roll onward .

I love the music... .so exotic and mystical .

I had students from another middle eastern country who married their cousins, but as time went on, it seemed to be occurring less. These guys did sometimes bring girls they were dating to meet me , but then later tell me that when they finally married , it would be with a girl from their native country .

herc

dondi356, thank you for the comments and always adding so much to the discussion. I wonder how long HAG and Esma have been together? We did speculate that Esma could be another sister, like Hanife, that would explain the loyalty, but I am really confused about the relationship and the hold over Esma by Azize. Yes, Firat is part of that, but there has to be more.

The Kissing Cousins theme has been a cultural aspect that I have had to really try to understand. As much as I don’t like Cihan, I think he has seen the spark of interest from Elif with Azat, how he pulls off the marriage will definitely be interesting.

Susanlynn, I love the music as well, it is very dramatic, mystical and loving depending on the scene. I have mentioned it before that I do like the Spanish themed song, but last night, it would have been nice to hear the ‘Her Şey Seninle Güzel / Everything is Beautiful with You” song, especially as dondi356 noted, Miran used the words from the song to speak lovingly to Reyyan as they were dancing.

OT

My schedule will allow me to recap Wednesday’s episode this week but next Wednesday, September 8th, I will not be able to do the recap.

herc

Thanks very much, VVS, for this excellent recap. I saw you had it posted right before I was going to go to bed, so of course I had to read it first, and then I had to write a comment. And then, as I was trying to post my comment, I must have done something wrong; the page disappeared, and when I got it back, the comment was gone!

Now just about everything I had said has already been mentioned by other commenters. So I guess this will be a much shorter comment than the first one. Among the points I mentioned were your great side comment about Cihan and Cihan's plan (or lack of plan?) to arrange a marriage between Elif and Azat, mostly to anger and humiliate Azize. I guess Cihan must have a plan, since he mentioned his intention to Nasuh, but it's not clear to me how he plans to bring it off. I guess we'll see. It's certainly the case that Elif is very fond of Azat, and she's not afraid to disagree with Azize. Even so....

I also mentioned that I agree with you, VVS, about Zehra being right about telling Reyyan that Hazar isn't her bio daddy.

I too was surprised at the meeting between Esma and Hazar. I assume they knew each other when Hazar was seeing Dilsah before he left for military service, but that's just a guess. I was interested that you saw D H on the wall. I thought it said D 11 or D II. I guess I missed the line connecting the two I's. Certainly D H makes more sense.

I agree with Lucio that Gonul should take a DNA test and then somehow try to get a DNA sample from Firat. Though it's possible that Firat is Sultana's "stillborn" child and thus Gonul's brother, I find it strange that Azize would leave Sultana's child in charge of all the Aslanbey resources.

Hmm...guess this wasn't so short a comment after all. :-) Again, many thanks!

herc

Thank you, Juanita, for redoing and posting your “original” comments from last night! I am sure it was frustrating to have that sucked into cyberspace.

I don’t think it would be very hard for Gonul to get a DNA sample from both Firat and Sultana, other than Firat, those people never leave the konak. I am certain there is DNA everywhere.

The more I think about it, you are definitely correct that Cihan must have a plan for this marriage between Elif and Azat. He spent time with Elif when he found her walking the streets of Midyat and then again watched the interaction between her and Azat in the truck. Guess we just have to wait and see it play out. Hopefully Azat can get Reyyan out of his system by then.

herc

Very late to the party. Once again I had to appear IN PERSON at the office.

Thanks so much, VVS, for the fine recap. I was thinking once again: How in the world does anyone stand to live in either of these households with so much pettiness and downright nastiness.

I expected drunk Azat to blurt out that GT had planned to have Reyyan killed.

How did Miran arrange that rooftop dinner so fast? Didn't they leave the konak impulsively after Sultana tried to scuttle Reyyan with announcing that (gasp!) she sat at a table in full view of other people with her own cousin. But by the time he drove them to the place, it was all set up and even all cooked.

Loved "star of everyone's nightmares", VVS. Bingo!

No clue how Yaren thinks that making nice with Firat is going to accomplish her plan. She said out loud (to herself) that Reyyan would be thrown out of the Aslanbey konak. I enjoyed how her face fell when Azat announced that Reyyan and Miran are in love and plan to stay together.

Esma?? They are going to keep us guessing why she continues to take boatloads of crap from Azize.

herc

Hi novelera! In person working is hard! I feel like I am in this dizi with some of the bad behavior at the office, very much like your great comment: “How in the world does anyone stand to live in either of these households with so much pettiness and downright nastiness.” No kidding!

I am still stunned about Esma! What the heck does Azize have over her?

Miran has Telemundo chefs on speed dial telepathy, because we never saw even a hint of a secret call.

Ugh, Yaren. What were those furry black slippers she was wearing anyway? They looked like skunks on her feet.

Hercai: Amor y venganza - #51 - p 1 de 3

As the episode opens, we again see Miran hold Reyyan's hand and move toward the bed. Reyyan is clearly reluctant. Miran asks her not to treat him like a stranger. He tells her he doesn't know how to make her forget that morning. He assures her that nothing will happen without her permission. Suddenly, there's a loud thunder clap. Reyyan is startled and scared. Miran laughs. Reyyan wants to know why he's laughing. He tells her he's laughing because he's happy. He asks, "Can we sleep together? That way I'll know you're with me." He sees that Reyyan is still reluctant. He tells her, "OK, I can't force you. I'll sleep on the floor. I'm accustomed to that." Reyyan looks a bit unhappy that he'll have to do that. She is sitting on an upholstered chair, perhaps feeling that if he has to be uncomfortable, so should she. She then says, "Instead of complaining, come sleep in the bed." He replies, "No, not until you sleep next to me."

As Miran is lying on the floor, he asks Reyyan what she was thinking when people shot at them in their house. She asks why he is asking about that. He tells her, "Something strange happened to me that night. When you were unconscious, I was afraid I was going to lose you. I realized that all I needed was to sleep under the same sky as you." We see a flashback of Reyyan expressing a similar thought. Miran then takes a cover from the bed and puts it over her as she sleeps in the chair. He wipes a tear from her face. She smiles at him. Miran says, "I thought you were dead and life gave me another chance." We again see Reyyan have a similar thought. There's a flashback to her picking up the pieces of the seashell she broke. We then see her carefully put the pieces back together. She holds the shell up to her ear and again hears the sea. She kisses the shell. (I think she's doing this in the present, though how she can do it in the dark is puzzling.)

In the morning, we see Miran wake up from his sleeping place on the floor. Reyyan is still asleep in the chair. Miran goes to the wardrobe to get some clothes. He passes by a table on which he sees the newly fixed seashell. He thinks to himself, "You too think another life is possible, Reyyan?" She wakes up. Miran suggests they go down to breakfast. Reyyan claims she's not hungry. Miran tells her, "I understand that you don't want to see some of those people, but I think it would be good to go." They do go down. Elif asks how she's feeling, but the others are their usual nasty selves. HAG goes on about all the calls she has received about Reyyan's meeting with Azat. HAG asks, "How do you intend to restore your reputation, when the whole town is talking about what you did?" Miran explodes. He tells HAG to stop saying this. "I'm her husband and I will be her husband forever."

Reyyan leaves the table and goes back upstairs to their room, where she cries. Miran comes back as well and assures her that he doesn't care why his abuela says or what the town says. "But I do," replies Reyyan. She worries that her parents will hear the nasty rumors, and that her grandfather will respond the same way HAG did when he hears the rumors. Miran tells her he has two rules. Rule #1 is not to cry over what you didn't do. Rule #2 is that we make explanations only to ourselves, not to anyone else. Reyyan asks him whether he regrets letting her meet with Azat. He tells her, "I regret nothing. If anyone says anything to you, tell me and I'll deal with it." Reyyan says she doesn't want him to get into fights about this. He replies, "When it's a question of my defending you, nothing can silence or stop me."

herc
Hercai: Amor y venganza - #51 - p 2 de 3

Miran goes downstairs and asks Esma to bring breakfast to Reyyan in their room. Sultana mutters, "Gonul did something much less serious and she had to have a sermon from you, Azize." Elif asks, "You think that what Gonul did was less serious? She stabbed herself, she shot Azat, and later spread nasty rumors about him." Sultana replies, "I don't understand why you're always defending the Sadoglu family. And you always defend Azat." HAG snaps at Sultana, "Close your mouth! Control yourself!" HAG then warns Elif, "Never put the Sadoglu above your family." Elif glares at Sultana.

Miran told Reyyan that he had to go to work, but we next see him on the roof of the Aslanbey mansion. Firat is there as well. Firat tells him about the rumors that are circulating about Reyyan and Azat. The whole town is talking about it. First delicately says he doesn't want to upset Miran, but he thinks Miran should know. Miran tells Firat, "I want you to do something for me. No one else must know, not even my abuela."

Miran then goes to see HAG. Of course, she tells him that everyone is talking about his wife. Miran seems to ignore what she saying. He tells her to put on something elegant. He wants her to go with him on a trip. She accuses him of giving her orders. He assures her he's merely asking her to go with her grandson on a trip. Miran then goes to see Reyyan. She hasn't eaten any of the food Esma brought. She claims she's not hungry. Miran says, "Let's go out." She asks where, but he says "No questions." He takes out the necklace HAG had given her when she "welcomed" her to the family. "I know you don't want to wear it," Miran says, "but I'm also an Aslanbey, and I'd like you to wear it." He helps her put it on. They go out of the room and are met by HAG. Both Reyyan and HAG are unhappy at seeing each other. Both want to know where they are going and why. Miran tells them, "I plan to announce our marriage to all Midyat." They drive to the center of Midyat. Reyyan has flashbacks to when HAG drove her to the center of Midyat and forced her out of the car in her wedding gown. Miran stops the car. HAG tells him she will stay in the car. "You can make a spectacle without me," she says. He insists that both she and Reyyan come with him. He takes Reyyan's hand and advises her to hold her head up high. The three of them start walking, and people greet them warmly. Some men come up to Miran, bow, and shake his hand. Many people stand up and cheer.

When they return to the Aslanbey mansion, HAG tells Miran that he shouldn't have exposed her to that. He replies that she had asked whether he was going to go to the people of Midyat with a gun. He says, "I found a better way." HAG then says, "Ask Reyyan to tell you why she married you. It wasn't because she loved you, it was to save the life of her cousin Azat." The two of them go on at some length. HAG repeats all the arguments she has made before about the kidnapping and the note. I'll therefore not rehash them here. Miran asks why she always focuses on Hazar Sadoglu. She again insists, "the Sadoglu are our only enemies." Miran tells her to her face, "I don't believe a thing you say, abuela." She again insists that Reyyan "came to our house to save her cousin." Miran asks, "Why then did you do nothing to prevent the marriage?" HAG replies, "I thought I could protect you..." Miran interrupts her, saying "I don't believe you. She married me because she loves me. Nothing you say will make me question my wife's love." Sultana then tries to pile on the criticism of Reyyan. "Are you blind?" she asks Miran. "Reyyan is the enemy. She's making you pay for all the harm you've caused her. She came here for venganza."

herc
Hercai: Amor y venganza - #51 - p 3 de 3

Showing her growing confidence, Reyyan walks up to Sultana and forcefully insists, "Don't stain my name. I've done nothing immoral. Nothing wrong. Nothing for which you should criticize me."

HAG then declares, "When I find out that Reyyan and her family are behind this, you must carry out the venganza." Miran tells her he'll do so when and how he sees fit.

There's a silly interlude involving Gul's trying to make a cake for her sister so she'll feel better. Gul is mixing ingredients and asks Melike for some pepper. Melike looks horrified, but Gul insists, and she gets the pepper. After adding the pepper, she tells Melike she also needs some honey. She adds that and stirs the ingredients. Hanife enters the kitchen while this is going on. Hanife makes some mean remarks to Melike about Riza, who may or may not have broken off with her. Then, with no provocation, Gul tosses some flour in Melike's face. Melike tosses some back at Gul. This goes on for a few more rounds. Hanife finds it amusing until Gul throws some flour in Hanife's face. Gul breaks out laughing. Hanife is not pleased.

Reyyan tells Miran that one thing HAG said was true. "If I hadn't married you, your life and my cousin's would have been in great danger, but I didn't marry you for that. I did so for you. For love." Miran assures her that he believes her, he just wishes she had trusted him and told him. (I assume he means told him about the death threats that Hasmet Aga has described to Reyyan. It's not clear whether Miran knows about the specifics even now.) She replies, "I was afraid you wouldn't understand. I was afraid I'd lose you." They embrace. Miran says, "No one will separate us. All I have to do is look in your eyes to trust you." A smiling Reyyan rests her head on his shoulder as the episode ends.

Just returned from a much needed “time away,” and I truly want to thank everyone, VVS, Juanita, dondi356, Novelera, and anyone I may have missed, for your excellent recaps! So much has happened in just a week, Reyyan’s meeting with Azat, Gonul’s discovery, “fear” for the first time in Azize’s eyes, Hazats meeting with Esma, Reymir’s growing bond ( I simply love it!) and the townspeople of Midyat who seriously need to get a life! I’m also liking the back scenes that come to light just when I think that the story is written in stone. I love that Miran is all in for protecting his woman, and that Reyyan is getting stronger and bolder and trusting Miran more.

It was so good to see “Reymir time” without all the animosity of the Aslanbeys and Sadoglus. The writers finally left some tender moments alone, and I just soaked them up like a flower blossoming in the sun! Yay! Still, why can’t these people share just one meal without it turning into the 4th of July! And why does everyone run outside like roaches every time there’s a conversation or altercation in the courtyard?? OK, I can understand an altercation, but for every little thing??

So many unanswered questions, that I’m sure will be answered in due time. PS, I certainly hope that Firat doesn’t fall for Yaren’s schemes again! I like Firat, but he’s a little naive. Living the life he’s lived under Azize’s thumb, he shouldn’t be???? And where is this husband for Yaren!?!? I also wasn’t clear Juanita,on what exactly Miran was referring to when he told Reyyan that he wished she’d told him and trusted him? Secrets don’t seem to really be secrets in this novela, except for what Azize’s true purpose is for all this ridiculous revenge.........and how many more people she’s dragged into it......

Thanks again for all the recaps! Much appreciated!

Thank you for the recap Juanita! I didn’t watch the Telemundo episode, but did watch the Peacock version this morning. There were two scenes regarding the kidnapping note in the version I saw.

This first was in the Midyat town square when HAG was making a big deal about everything and she asks Miran to ask his wife why she married him. When Reyyan doesn’t answer, then HAG says it was because she didn’t want her primo to die not because she loves you. It is Reyyan who hits back saying, don’t you think your grandson would like to know why the kidnappers gave me that note to give to you?

Then it moves to the courtyard as you described in the recap. There is one additional conversation where Azize pulls out the note and blames everything on the Sadoglu. She gives the note to Miran, who doesn’t even open it saying, I have already seen this note. We see a flashback to the morning after Reyyan was tossed out of the car in front of the konak, she gives Miran the note from the kidnappers. Then we see the scene where Miran confronts HAG and she tells him not to question him again. When he leaves the room, he tells Reyyan to give HAG the note and not to worry about anything.

I thought these scenes were powerful because it showed Miran that his granny is a liar and he calls her out on it. It also shows that he and Reyyan are becoming closer and closer, trusting each other more.

There was another touching scene at the breakfast table for like two seconds where Esma places a plate of hawthorn berries (thanks dondi356) in front of Reyyan. Miran remembered her favorite fruit from the previous mornings conversation and had Esma get some. I thought that was nice. Of course Reyyan can’t even taste one before HAG started in on her.

carmella, it is great to have you back! I hope you enjoyed your time away. I was thinking about you during the Monday episode when we finally got some loving in for ReyMir! I hope there many more quiet moments to come. These two have to stick together to survive the hurricanes around them.

Thanks again Juanita! I appreciate the recap.

Herc

Thanks so much VVS! I also thought that the Hawthorne berry scene was lovely, along with Reyyan piecing the seashell back together! These two definitely have to find a way to stick together! I know there will be moments where they will be overwhelmed by the family drama, but hopefully they will remember these beautiful moments, and Miran will think and reason things through before going off the edge.

Don’t get Cihan’s reasoning either regarding Elif and Azat??? I really do like Elif, but I just think that it’s Gonul and Azat all the way. After all, Gonul loved Miran and Azat loved Reyyan—— just makes sense to me........

herc

Thanks so much, Juanita. Excellent descriptions of the scenes. It was like seeing them again!

Carmella, welcome back!

I did see the scenes regarding the note the kidnappers gave Reyyan to give to Azize. I remember thinking she was SO over the top honorable that she would not have read it. Someone else here opined that: of course she read it. It turns out she showed it to Miran who then used it to test Azize. Like Carmella, I love seeing fear in Azize's black eyes and blacker heart.

So...are we to assume that Miran asked Firat to contact the nicer people in Midyat to be ready to applaud when the three walked into the big square?

Hercai

Juanita, thank you for every detail .

So..here's a familiar trope. Leading lady won't sleep in bed with tbe galan ...but why can't one of them be comfortable and sleep in the soft bed ? If Rey thinks Miran might sneak in next to her after she falls asleep, let him take tbe bed. I guess I am too pragmatic to write telenovelas .

Azize ...pretty in pink this episode .but still scowling with those eyes that look like 2 holes burned in a blanket .

I like the way Miran is standing up for his wife against everybody and anyone. I also like that the actor rethought the bangs . He is very handsome , esoecially when he smi!es .He reminds me of someone , but I don't know who.

I am also watching this. It's more of a chore with deciphering the Colombian accents. It's very dramatic right now and Julia is beginning to see through Lucía's facade.

But I have a stark example of the importance of recaps and comments. When I see a really impactful scene I wish I could comment about it here. The scene with Carmenza and Julia after Julia sees Fernando for the first time was especially good. It was nice to see Carmenza hold her own against the snobbish Julia.

Cafe

I, too am watching Novelera, and yes the Colombian accents are really hard! Even my translator has a tough time, lol! Julia is definitely a piece of work! And where exactly does her favoritism for Ivan stem from? Just because he’s her firstborn??? I’m also glad that Carmenza gave it right back to her! Fortunately, her snobbish eyeballs can’t keep her from being blind anymore, and she deserves to be humbled in the most harshest of ways!

I just really hope that Marcia is okay...........thanks for the welcome back 😁

Thanks for the recap, Juanita!

Reymir was great in this ep. I wonder where I can find hawthorn berries?

Reyyan’s comeback to Azize regarding the note was super.

So, all you have to do is feed a few people and they forget about your scandalous behavior? It looked like the younger people were very appreciative but there were some old-timers looking unconvinced.

Thank goodness, they’ve started to turn the volume down but, “why can’t these people share just one meal without it turning into the 4th of July!” – yes, Carmella. And you make a good point about a Gonul/Azat pairing. “Gonul loved Miran and Azat loved Reyyan”, and don’t forget Gonul shot Azat, too!

Did everyone see the brief announcement for a new Turkish novela? I would suspect it will replace Hercai, but I did not write down the name.

Many thanks, Carmella, VVS, novelera, Susanlynn, and dondi356, for your insightful and very helpful comments.

Carmella, welcome back! I really enjoy your input and missed it while you were away. Yes, I too am delighted that Reyyan is getting stronger and more confident and is trusting Miran more. Their scenes together are becoming much more enjoyable and compelling to watch. I wonder, though, about a Gonul/Azat pairing. He's such a decent guy, and she...as Elif said last night, Gonul stabbed herself, shot Azat, and then spread nasty and untrue rumors about him. IMHO, he deserves much better than Gonul. I guess I'm on Team Elif.

VVS, many thanks for all the added details and information. The scenes you mention are among those that show Miran and Reyyan becoming closer, but I'm not sure I see how they show Miran that Azize is a liar. I know he accuses her of being a liar, and she certainly IS one, but how do those scenes show this?

novelera, I loved your statement "I love seeing fear in Azize's black eyes and blacker heart." And yes, I think we are to assume that Miran asked Firat to arrange a very warm and enthusiastic reception for Miran and Reyyan (and Azize) when they arrive at the town center.

Susanlynn, I agree that "If Rey thinks Miran might sneak in next to her after she falls asleep, let him take the bed." But that's exactly what she DOES suggest to him, and he says no, he's not going to sleep in that bed until she's in it next to him. It's possible that she doesn't then sleep in it by herself perhaps in part for the reason you suggest, but perhaps also because she feels a little guilty having Miran sleep on the floor, so she decides that if he's going to be uncomfortable, perhaps she should be as well, and she sleeps instead in that chair.

dondi356, I share the scorn you express in "So, all you have to do is feed a few people and they forget about your scandalous behavior?" I wonder which is worse, holding beliefs so easily changeable or, like some of the older folks in Midyat, holding absurd beliefs about what constitutes decent or indecent behavior. Perhaps it's a draw.

This is mostly for Dondi to say how many she's seen. My Advanced Spanish class (taken for more than 25 years) resumes on Zoom next week. It's my turn to do a small "presentation" at the beginning of the class. We each do one occasionally and some have been fabulous. When we met in person, Lyn showed us both still photos and passed around her laptop to show us things from her trip to the Galapagos.

I'm planning to discuss the phenomenon of Turkish dizis being dubbed into Spanish and the great popularity of these. I was googling the topic to come up with some ideas for my "presentation" and came across this site:

https://theculturetrip.com/europe/turkey/articles/8-soap-operas-to-make-you-fall-in-love-with-turkish-tv/

Seems like Fatmagul is the one so many have seen. It's on YouTube and I hope to get around to it.

OT..Novelera, you and I have been here at caray for a long time . My first and favorite tn was Alborada . However, while i was watching "La Hija del Embajador " on Uni and Dondi was recapping, she recommended another tn that Engin, the galan, was in called " Fatmagul". She said that it had been recaoped here at caray . I found the recaps and discovered One of the recappers was Vivi . Wow. I am just finishing watching on YouTube while reading the caray recaps. Fantastic. My new favorite tn and galan. Now I will watch his other TN " Kara para ask" on Netflix .

Yes, Susanlynn, you and I have been digital friends for a very long time. The first novela I watched was El Privilegio de Amar with Adela Noriega. And the second was Amor Real, also with Adela and probably my all-time favorite. I loved Alborada, of course, and recently re-watched it when two-hour episodes were on in the afternoon. I recorded them to watch in the evening and, of course, to skip commercials. It was interesting how many details I had forgotten.

I also remember when Fernando, Lucero, Luis Romero Guzman, and Daniela Romo appeared on the Cristina Show after the last episode of Alborada was shown. Back in the day I struggled a bit to catch all the witty remarks flying back and forth between the cast and Cristina. I also remember Luis, the evil Diego, dancing salsa with Daniela on stage while Colunga smiled from his chair on the stage.

OT... Novelera, Amor Real was my second tn. Loved it, and it became my second fav. Loved Fernando and Adela's chemistry .

I remember that great Cristina show where Lucero and Daniela sang and Daniela danced with the guy who played Diego. Fernando refused to sing or dance. Cristina dud some interesting interviews after t n finales .

What a nice project.

That list mentions Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ a little too much 😊 I know he’s very popular with the ladies, but he’s just ok for me. I made a list and came up with 30 dizi I’ve seen completely. Three more I’m currently watching, including Hercai. There are another 4 that I started but put them on the back burner and hope to get back to them someday. I’ve also watched a lot of Turkish movies.

From your article, I’ve seen Fatmagül’ün Suçu Ne? (twice) and I’ve seen all 4 seasons of Muhteşem Yüzyıl. I skipped around Aşk-ı Memnu but didn’t watch completely because I saw the Telemundo remake with Jencarlos Canela first. And Kuzey Güney is one I started and hope to finish someday.

They didn’t mention Kara Sevda or Kara Para Aşk. Those were huge international award-winning hits. Probably because the article is from 2017.

IMHO, Fatmagül is a must see. I also highly recommend Kara Para Aşk. I adore Engin Akyürek.

And Burak Özçivit (Kara Sevda)is mighty fine.

Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #52
Part 1 of 4

At the Country House (CH), Gul is still messing around in the kitchen making a cake, then it cuts to her fast asleep on the couch, her face covered in flour. Hanife is taking a nice-looking Bundt cake out of a box, as she and Melike get rid of the mess made by Gul. Putting the cake on a nice platter, Melike wakes Gul up and shows her the cake that she “made” for her sister.

Gul is very excited to show the cake off and takes it outside to show her mom. She literally runs into the hateful Yaren and the cake and platter fall to the floor. Yaren ends up making Gul cry by telling her Reyyan is a liar and will never come back to the house to see her.

In a bedroom, Zerah is lying down. Nigar comes in to clean the room and Zerah tells her she isn’t feeling well. After discussing her symptoms and Nigar saying she sees a glow about her face, Nigar is convinced Zerah is pregnant. Zerah can’t believe that might be a possibility, but until she can confirm it, Nigar tells her to rest and not lift anything. We hear a shout from outside the bedroom that Zerah needs to come quickly as Gul has fainted.

Gul is in bed and the doctor examines her. Gul is crying for her sister. The doctor says she needs to rest and not over exert herself; she has a special condition (a bullet lodged in her brain) and needs to stay calm until her full appointment the next week. Gul asks Zerah if someone has told her sister she is a little bit sick? Everyone dances around the issue. GT makes his entrance and ask Gul who upset her? She totally tattles on Yaren, saying that Yaren called her sister a liar and that Reyyan would never come to visit Gul again because she didn’t love her.

Hazar wants to go kick some Yaren butt (or at least slap her for us) but GT tells him he will handle it. Yaren, wearing her skunk pelt sandals, is pacing outside the gazebo. GT yells for her and proceeds to yell. What did you tell Gul? Yaren lies, of course, but GT keeps yelling saying that she better not mess with Gul again or she will get it from him. He storms off. Everyone is disgusted by Yaren’s actions, Handan at least smacks her shoulder a couple of times. Azat tells Yaren she is horrible, poor Gul has to live with a bullet in her head. Yes, says Yaren, because of you! (good point). Maybe, says Azat, but you were the one who kept quiet about everything and now we are paying the price. I will keet quiet for now, but do not mess with Gul again! Yaren is left alone, saying, why do I always carry the blame for everything? (I don’t have the time to write the list of Yaren caused problems).

Back to ReyMir’s bedroom, Miran enters. Reyyan is sitting in the chair/bed. She is happy to see him. Miran tells her he has to go meet Firat at the office, but will be back soon and then they can go out for dinner. She wants to know if he will be gone long? No, he says, besides, when I am away from you, all I can do is think about you. She smiles. By the way Reyyan, he says, you are not a prisoner in this konak. You can come and go as you please, I just ask that you take one of the body guards with you, ok? You will make your husband feel more comfortable.

Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #52
Part 2 of 3

As he turns to leave, she calls out, Miran and heads over to give him a big hug and kiss on the check. She says, as long as you believe and trust me, that is all that matters. He holds her face in his hands and says, I believe in you Reyyan, I believe and trust you with all my heart. He returns the kiss on the cheek. They both smile, as he leaves. Awwww.

Sultana and Gonul are talking in another bedroom. Sultana thinks that Reyyan is the cause of all the problems no matter how many meals Miran serves to the Midyat people. Gonul wonders if there might really be another enemy, Sultana scoffs, claiming that she doesn’t care as long as Azize goes down and goes down soon. Sultana tries to pry information out of Gonul, but she isn’t budging. (Do a DNA test!).

On the hotel rooftop, Miran and Firat are talking. Miran is convinced that HAG is lying, Firat is not so convinced. After some back and forth, Firat agrees that Reyyan married Miran for love, because it is clearly obvious. What is not obvious is that the Sadoglu’s were not behind the kidnapping. Miran decides that he needs to find out and that can only be by collaborating with Hazar. Firat cannot believe it, conspire with the enemy? Keep the enemy close, says Miran, that way I know what he is up to. Do not tell my grandmother about any of this!

Just then, Firat receives a text from HAG, come and see me immediately, I have questions (the question now is how loyal will Firat be?). Miran continues to talk about working with Hazar and calls him, saying, we need to talk. Meet me on the road to the monastery.
Back at the CH, Gul is asleep with Zerah watching over her. Hazar gets the call from Miran. He tells Zerah that Miran want to meet to talk. She is concerned and then tells Hazar, again, that they need to tell Reyyan about her parentage, saying that if she finds out from someone else, she really will not forgive them. If she hears it from them, then she will be upset, but will forgive. Hazar is still not ready to tell her. He heads of to meet with Miran.

Reyyan is in the bedroom and picks up the compact mirror Miran gave her, remembering that the kidnappers crushed it. Sadly, she opens it only to discover that Miran had it fixed. (Hawthorne berries and now this, our galan is earning some points). As she looks in the mirror again, she sees HAG in the middle of the room. What do you want? Asks Reyyan. What lies have you come to spread now?

I am here to remind you that Miran will never forget about his venganza, says HAG. Just look at that ring on your finger. She grabs Reyyan’s wrist, did he tell you the story about the ring? That this bloody ring was on Dilsah’s finger when she was raped and murdered by Hazar Sadoglu. He put it there so he will never forget about honoring her death.

Stop your lies, says Reyyan, your heart is so black you use a dead woman’s memory to poison the heart of your grandchild. Believe what you want, says HAG, in the end, you will see I am right. She glides out of the room like the Dementor she is, sucking the life and happiness out of everyone she encounters. Looking at the ring, Reyyan says, my father would never, ever do something like that.

Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #52
Part 3 of 4

Miran is parked on the deserted monastery road, as Hazar drives in from the opposite direction. After a brief stare down in their respective cars, both get out and face each. It is Hazar who finally breaks the tense silence. Why did you ask me to come here? What do you want to say? Miran says, we need to work together. What changed your mind, when I made that recommendation, you hung up on me, says Hazar. It is not important, says Miran. It is important to me, replies Hazar, clearly you have discovered something that makes you want to find the truth.

I just want to do everything I can to protect Reyyan, says Miran. We are better off doing that together. Hazar is still not convinced. Or is it that you just want to know what I have learned, says Hazar. Miran dials it down a bit and says, I just want to protect Reyyan, it will better if we work together. He gives a run down of everything that has happened, but does not mention the kidnappers note. He says that the guy in the village that ran away is the prime clue for now. Are you in Hazar Sadoglu? Hazar agrees. As Miran is leaving, Hazar says, I know you will do everything to protect Reyyan, but do more. Annoyed, Miran says, you just take care of your own family. Hazar says, take care of your grandmother as well. Miran doesn’t respond. They head off in different directions. Hazar calls Ali for an update.

Pacing in the bedroom, Reyyan hesitates before calling Miran. He responds to the call immediately. Is everything okay? Yes, she says, but I need to speak to my father right away. Miran says yes, but you have to talk to him at the hotel. She agrees immediately.

Esma brings Gonul some coffee in her room as she is brushing her hair. Gonul shows Esma a photo album that she found. They go through a few pictures. Then Gonul shows her a picture of Firat holding the hand of woman Gonul does not know. Who is this Esma? Esma feigns ignorance, it must be one of our guests. She leaves to do the grocery list. Gonul wonders, so are you Firat’s mother or are you my brother?

Looking at the same picture in her room at the CH, is Hanife. It is picture of her younger self. As she stares at the picture in the corner of a mirror, she says, look at you Hanife, so many years have passed and now your old. But don’t get down on yourself the rewards for all these years of sacrifice will be many.

At the hotel, Reyyan and Hazar are meeting in the restaurant. Hazar tells her that there are no more witnesses to what happened that night with Dilsah and he can remember nothing. Reyyan says, Azize told me something today. Why do they think you killed Miran’s mother? Hazar shares the story of his love for Dilsah and her love for him. Reyyan is surprised but does not judge him. Hazar shares how he heard she was being tortured in Aslanbey konak and attempted to help her escape the night she died. After he was shot, he woke up in the hospital and learned that Dilsah had already been buried. He swears to Reyyan that he did not kill anyone.

She shares the lie HAG told about the ring. When Hazar sees the ring, he says, I had this ring made for Dilsah. There was a filigree master named Gabriel, he made this ring and I gave it to her as a promise of our love. Reyyan wants Hazar to share this story of the ring with Miran. Hazar says it is going to take so much more proof to show Miran what has been poured into him for 27 years is all a lie.

Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #52
Part 4 of 4

Hazar tells her that one day and hopefully soon, Miran will learn the truth. Even today he called me and is convinced that the Aslanbey have another enemy. He wants to collaborate. Reyyan tries to be hopeful as she hugs him.

HAG is questioning Firat. Why didn’t you tell me about this planned meal in the town square? Firat, covering, says, Miran told me at the last minute. Your job is protect the assets of the Aslanbey fortune says HAG, if you are blind we are blind. I have told you this before. Now is there anything else you need to tell me? Firat does not hesitate, saying, Miran met with Hazar Sadoglu today. They are going to work together. Annoyed, HAG says, let him do whatever he wants Firat. Just keep me informed of his every move and don’t let us become vulnerable. She dismisses him.

Thinking to herself she says, well, well, father and son working together to find the truth huh Miran? Well the truth you wo;; find is only what I have created. You will never learn the rest. She has a memory flashback of Dilsah on her knees begging in front of her. Azize, you know that I love Hazar, I am carrying his child. Azize, dressed in street clothes says, I have made my decision. Everyone will think the child you carry is Mehmet’s. Imagine what will happen to you if you don’t do as I say. She leaves the room with Dilsah still sobbing on the floor.

Esma knocks on the door, interrupting the memory. Madame, you have a moment to talk? Yes, nods HAG. Gonul was showing me an old photo album and she asked me to identify a woman if the photo. It was Hanife. I told her I didn’t remember who it was in the photo. Should I say anything else? No, says HAG. Don’t say anything else. As Esma turns to leave, HAG says, Esma, do you have anything else to tell me? Esma remembers her midnight encounter with Hazar but says, No, and leaves. HAG wonders, who did you meet last night Esma?

Hazar is meeting with Ali. He did not learn too much in Kars but did learn that Azize was a servant in the Aslanbey konak before marrying the Aslanbey son and becoming the woman of the house. (Very Interesting!). If seems the marriage was quick after Hamit the great Agha of Aslanbey died. Hazar isn’t sure if that information is helpful, yet, he tells Ali of the mechanic who ran from Miran and asks him to follow up and try to find the guy.

Miran comes “home” and asks Esma if Reyyan is home. She is, says Esma, but Sultana jumps in and says don’t bother checking in your room, your wife is like a cat, she likes to prowl about on the rooftop. Miran finds Reyyan daydreaming and startles her with an arm around her waist. He can tell she is faking her smile and wants to know what’s up.

She tells him what HAG told her about the ring and how Miran uses this to remember is venganza. Miran says he gave her that ring because it was the only precious thing he had of his mothers. He doesn’t need an object to remember her pain in his heart. Reyyan tries to tell him what she learned from her father, but Miran doesn’t want to hear it, especially when Reyyan mentions they were in love and maybe the story he has been told isn’t the truth. She tells him she didn’t want to upset him, but he gets angry and leaves her up on the terrace roof, alone. (Brownie points for berries and mirror are removed by recapper).

At the CH, Hazar arrives and is called over to the gazebo by GT who is sitting with Yousef. Have you heard anything from Ali? Yes, but not much, says Hazar. I only learned that Azize was a servant in the Aslanbey house before marrying the son after the father died. This news seems to impact and have meaning to GT and Yousef, as the episode ends, with limited yelling and not one gun.

Wow, VVS, thanks so much for this terrific recap! As always, you've captured everything in a clear and compelling way, complete with humorous commentary. I especially enjoyed your describing Yaren wearing her "skunk pelt sandals."

So the mysterious young woman in the photo is Hanife. Hmmm...if she's Firat's mother, I can finally understand why Azize may have put Firat in charge of all the Aslanbey resources. Also, if Hanife is Firat's mother, presumably a DNA test will disappoint Gonul. Unless, of course, she and Firat have the same father. Perhaps the nasty piece of work that was Gonul's father also was unfaithful to his wife.

So Azize was a servant in the Aslanbey household until she married the Aslanbey son after his father died. No wonder Hanife thinks it's possible that she could marry Nasuh.

Clearly Hazar doesn't realize that Miran is his son. If he did realize this, he'd be eager to let Reyyan know that she hasn't married her brother! I suspect that issue will cause problems before this novela ends.

Again, many thanks VVS, for this excellent account of an interesting episode.

Spectacular recap VVS! “skunk pelt sandals!” Hahaha! They match her personality, lol! For the life of me, I don’t get why she’s so mean spirited and hateful? She was obviously the golden child while her and a Reyyan were growing up, and shown nothing but love. Yet there is no love in her. She’s spoiled and self centered like a coddled child, yes, but where does all that hateful behavior stem from? Me wonders......

I’m so disappointed in Firat. He’s about as loyal to Miran as the town gossip. I hope Miran figures this out soon and stops entrusting him with important info. Esma is much more loyal, but then again, she’s not Firat’s birth mom. Even Handan is loyal though. You’d have to be to allow yourself to be separated from your son for over 27 yrs over someone else’s sick revenge. I wonder if Handan knows the true story too? But I think not cause she would’ve handed Azize a can of whoop azz a long time ago!

As black hearted as Azize is, how does she command such loyalty? she’s a bona fide liar, but I guess she can turn on the charm when she needs too, plus she is pretty in pink, haha. Reyyan continues to delight me with her “fem kahunas” ( ovaries), but getting Miran over the hurdle will be difficult. For a minute there, I thought she was going to tell Miran that Hazar gave his mom that ring, but she knew he would’ve probably broke her finger, and that would’ve taken them back to square one, lol. Reyyan is an innocent, but she needs to make love to her husband like nobody’s business to soften that angry heart of his! C’mon Reyyan! You can do it!!!

I didn’t catch that Azize was a servant and married into the Aslanbey clan——thanks VVS!

Cafe

Sebastián has got to be the weakest minded galan that I’ve ever come across!! They gave him that hunky hardbody for nothing! Aside from the farmworkers, Leonidas, and LeMarcus, the men in this novela suck! Scammers, liars, women beaters, manipulators——-the whole lot of them!

Thank you, VVS, for another wonderful recap. lol - “skunk pelt sandals!”. “(Brownie points for berries and mirror are removed by recapper)” If you didn’t take them, I would have! Is “Dementor” a Harry Potter reference? Whatever, it fits the HAG.

This is getting good. Less hysterics, less guns and bang-less Miran.

Hanife might be Firat’s mother… hmmm. Yes, Juanita, it could be that Gonul’s father “dishonored” Hanife. A cover up would make sense. The child would stay with the Aslanbeys, adopted by Esma, and Hanife would be sent away.

ITA, Carmella, Firat is a big disappointment. He needs to be deprogrammed, too. And I hope that Reyyan takes your suggestion “to make love to her husband like nobody’s business”.

“Azize was a servant in the Aslanbey house…. This news seems to impact and have meaning to GT and Yousef”, I hope we get more on this in the next episode.

Thanks again, VVS!

VVS,thank you for every drip drop of drama.

I recorded the show last night, and I watched after I read the recap, so as I watched, I knew what was going on . You dont realize how many commercials there are until you fast forward through them .

So...Zebra is pregnant. At !east we are sure who the daddy js. It's amazing how much pregnancy is a major feature in all telenovelas no matter which country produces them . An old TV show used to start by one of the characters saying ." Man...woman... Birth...death. ...infinity." And so it was and is and always will be. Big wheel keeps on turning.

Interesting that none of these young women work or go to school. Everybody just hangs around the house in their slippers crying as their anger over various people and events simmers and ferments . The only action we see is in the kitchen ......no tv or radio. ...no puzzles, painting,or handicrafts..no dogs, cats, or birds.

Herc

Thanks dondi356....I meant to say Hanife, not Handan, being Firat’s mom, and Hanife does look like she could whoop some Azize-butt. “Bang-less Miran, haha!

I also agree with you Susalynn about these women having nothing to do. At least Reyyan used to ride her horse.......

Is this the last week for this? I thought the two grandmothers scene was great too.

How fun! Lots of action on the patio today! Thank you all for the great, thought-provoking comments!

Juanita, I didn’t even occur to me when I wrote the recap that Hanife could really be Firat’s mother, but your thoughts blew me away and I see several others are thinking the same thing. This would definitely explain a lot, especially if as you put it “Perhaps the nasty piece of work that was Gonul's father also was unfaithful to his wife.” Brilliant.

carmella, I am also puzzled by Yaren’s awful behavior. She has been the golden child her whole life, so not sure where the hatefulness comes from. It will be interesting if this a storyline that is explained later. Go for it Reyyan! I think the same way, but also think there is still too much guilt on Miran’s part and Reyyan is still not trusting enough to just go there. Plus, they should go back and start over at the rebuilt cabin. That was the only love-making scene we have had this entire dizi! Too bad Miran had to ruin it the next morning. Clearly some people are having sex, how else are Handan and now Zerah pregnant?

dondi356, thank you for catching my references! Yes, the Dementor comment about Azize is from Harry Potter. I agree with you that Firat and Miran need deprogramming from the Azize collective! 😊 I am fascinated that Azize was a servant first, most likely helped “kill” papa Aslanbey and then married the son. This is my new crackpot theory.

Susanlynn, it is strange that none of the women do anything but drink coffee, cry or destroy lives. At least Zerah cooks and taught Reyyan. Reyyan did tell GT once that she wanted to be a doctor but he killed her dreams with his golpes and hatred. We have seen Gonul drive and she seems educated, Elif was using earbuds and a tablet and as carmella said, at least Reyyan can ride a horse.

There is one character that I was looking for in the Tuesday epi at the Midyat town square. Where is the kindly gentleman that helped Reyyan and then later spoke with Hazar about Dilsah? I thought he might make come back during the meal scene especially as Reyyan was remembering the tossed out on the street in a wedding dress memory. Hmmm, another mystery to add to the many others out there.

I think there’s at least 2 more weeks to go, maybe 3.....so much stuff to still be settled.....yes! I enjoyed Carmenza giving Julia a whiff of her own stinky snobbery! Julia is still an out and out snob though! Did you hear what she said to Seb last night? Even at this point, knowing what she knows about Lucía and her precious Iván! Unreal!

Café

carmella, I agree with you about Julia! Why didn't she kick Lucia to the curb when she learned how she got pregnant! It is crazy!

I was happy to see Leonidas and Marga connecting last night as they danced. Maybe some real connecting to happen later! :)

ITA VVS about Marga and Leonidas.....both are nursing broken hearts ......let them find some happiness.....

Busy patio today. I visualize some harried waiters (maybe moonlighting from Hunky Bar) serving us mojitos and or Pacifico beer.

Outstanding recap, VVS. You got it all, and your asides were golden!

We got more pieces to the puzzle last night. We now understand why Hazar didn't really know what happened to Dilsuh. The flashback scene of Dilsuh begging Azize to let her go was very interesting. Up to now, however, we don't know what kind of guy Mehmet was. She was forced to marry him; and, he could have been a jealous, abusive gorilla. Or he could have just been another pawn of Azize, getting a bride chosen for him for her status and being sad about it.

I had the impression that Nasuh didn't really know that Azize had been a servant. OTOH those scenes of her running around outside a fire that he remembered would have indicated perhaps a servant in trouble.

Loved "taking away brownie points". I don't think I've heard the expression "brownie points" since I was one myself!

I liked the Turkish version of "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer". Miran said "Keep your friends close and your enemies close enough for them to feel your breath on their ears." [Hope I got that one right.]

Great minds... While I was watching I wrote this on a piece of scratch paper. "Look at all these women living with servants and no jobs. They are reduced to filling their time with plotting."

cafe

The plot thickens. We don't have recaps. But, if anyone is a few episodes behind, they could just skip over our comments.

The Lucía/Iván hookups are definitely surprising. It's a question of who can manipulate whom the most. I loved her asking for half his shares in Café Élite.

I am confused by Martin's plans. He told Lucrecia that he was going to tell Paula the wedding was off. And then he heard about Paula having a friend from a very wealthy family who might "invest". Unless he's just going to let Lucrecia go, I can't see how he gets out of this. And his co-conspirator in Spain, I think, is getting tired of the game.

As has been mentioned, I hope against hope that Marcia is all right. The last mention of her, I thought Wilson had located her, and then the writers just dropped the whole thing.

Sebas just dropped his head when he heard Julia suggest that maybe Fernando isn't his. Julia has a very large crow pie in her future.

Mojitos, Pacifico and don’t forget the tequila shots for me novelera. I miss the Hunky Bar.

I hope you get some more information for us in tonight’s episode. We certainly know very little about Azize’s husband or son’s, except for what Sultana has told us about her husband.

Miran said "Keep your friends close and your enemies close enough for them to feel your breath on their ears." [Hope I got that one right.] Thanks for translating this, I knew it was good but I really couldn’t understand it in detail. I think you got it perfectly.

Café
Wanted to join the brief comments since I get a chance! Hello, Café-watching people! I too liked the scene with Julia and Carmenza, and thoroughly enjoyed the dressing down Carmenza gave her. Julia looked sad watching Baby Fer, but not sure if it was because she knows she’ll probably never get to know her only blood-related grandchild (she knows about Sofia) or because the baby is being raised by those campesinas that she hates so much. Whenever I think I might feel a little sorry for her, she goes and defends Ivan (again) or nags Bernie about being gay (again) or harasses Marce about all her life choices (again). And I missed the hint about Fer not being Sebas'. She is not getting better. I almost look forward to Martin taking all her money, or running away with Other Lu, or whatever it is he was planning on doing. So far, Paula is the only one not actively disappointing Julia, but Martin is going to have a make a move soon so that won’t last.

And I too hope Marcia is safe. I liked her and Carlos Mario at first but once he hit her, he went on the naughty list. I’m hoping she’ll be able to come back and be a friend for Other Lu. They seemed to get along well once Other Lu got over her snobbery, but the sleeping with Ivan thing kind of ruined everything. Lu knows she married a dud so maybe she’ll get over it and they can be friends again. And speaking of friendships, Maracucha and Margara’s relationship is far too honest and adult-like for a telenovela. They need to find another show.

Glad we can toss in the occasional Café comment. I was following the recaps of Hercai but lost track. And Reyyan seems like a lot of work with all the times she needs rescuing. She could use some Colombians in her life. These women don’t mess around.

telemundo

Someone asked about the new telenovela that Telemundo has been briefly mentioning. It's Una Casa para Azul, and it shows a picture of the girl who did such a great job as Oyku in Todo por me hija. So I'm assuming that she's one of the main characters in this novela. Telemundo announced a preview to take place on Sunday, Sept. 12. On the East Coast, it will be shown 7 pm, 6 pm Central. My guess is that it will also be 7 pm Pacific Time. (It seems unlikely that it will be shown simultaneously with the East Coast showing. That would mean 4 pm.)

What it means to offer a "preview" on a Sunday is unclear. Is that just to whet our appetites for something that won't start for another month? Or are they cutting Hercai short? Perhaps we'll find out on Sept. 12.

It is nice to see a busy patio!

Susanlynn, that old show was “Ben Casey” a medical drama. I remember it!

Oooh, VVS. Azize got rid of Hamit Aslanbey and married the son…. yes, we should toss that in the crockpot. And I wonder where that nice old guy went, too.

I blame the Turkish censors for the lack of love making scenes or even passionate kisses. Productions can get fined.

novelera, I think the Spanish translation sounds better than the literal Turkish for keeping the enemy close. We can leave it at that. And I replied to your post about your Turkish dizi presentation. Did you see it?

Should it surprise to us that the DILs don’t work outside the home? Zehra does her part around the house, but Handan is an entitled, lazy witch. They made that clear from the beginning. Whether they are educated or not, the goal is to marry off the girls and continue the cycle. So sad.

Telemundo

Thanks for posting that info, Juanita. Beren Gökyıldız from Todo por mi Hija is a main character. I think she is a wonderful actress. I saw this in Turkish. It was called “Çocukluk” – Childhood. It was a short run, only 11 Turkish episodes. I think Telemundo intends to air it on Sunday evenings.

telemundo

Juanita, I had the impression that Azul might always be on a Sunday. They made a point of saying that it was for the "whole family". I kind of thought that meant that it was a G-rated novela from Turkey meant to appeal to children. And thus might not be shown as late as 9PM Eastern.

OTOH they haven't shown any other hints of what might replace Hercai

telemundo

Thanks, dondi356 and novelera, for the info about Azul. It didn't occur to me that it might air once a week on Sunday. I plan to record the preview and see what I think.

And last night when Ivan asked Carlos Mario why he moved back out to the country——because he hates it—— Carlos Mario made a point of saying “Yes, with my wife,” when Ivan asked him. Again, I hope she’s okay and her and Lucrecia expose the garbage men they’re married to.

Personally, I can’t wait until Julia eats crow Novelera! My problem will be in finding her sincere with that nose of hers so far up in the clouds. Imagine her son married to a campesina! “ Clutch the pearls!”

ITA Kelly! The Colombian women are a tough bunch, but their relationships come across with a realness and loyalty that isn’t fake. Bravo for creating some women to look up to, warts and all! I don’t suspect though that Paula will learn a lesson here, She’s totally her mother’s daughter.

Cafe - is this the original one (from years and years ago), or is it another remake? How far along are they?
