TELEMUNDO Y MÁS (#2): Parientes a la Fuerza, Malverde: El Santo Patrón, y más: Week of October 25, 2021

TELEMUNDO WEEKEND EDITION (continuación)

Here's Page 2 for the week. The current evening telenovelas are as follows (all times are Eastern Daylight Time):

• 9-10PM—Parientes a la fuerza**
• 10-11PM—Malverde: El santo patrón

In addition, because of the outpouring of interest here for the highly acclaimed Turkish dizi “¿Que Culpa Tiene Fatmagül?”, novelera and I have decided that discussion of this work can take place here on the Telemundo y Más pages. We feel it's a legitimate decision, since the dizi was originally broadcast on Telemundo in 2016. This time around, it will be shown on UniMas beginning this coming Monday, November 1, from 9-11 AM (Eastern Time). A good reason to have a DVR! Fatmagül doesn't replace either of the other two offerings currently available: Parientes a la fuerza and Malverde: El santo patrón. Clearly, there's no time conflict among these three works.

**On Tuesday, a new telenovela, Parientes a la fuerza (Family members by force) debuted on Telemundo in the 9PM time slot. Telemundo describes it as an entertaining romantic comedy starring Guy Ecker, Bárbara de Regil, Michel Duval, and Chantal Andere. The plot involves George Cruz, a 50-year-old Hollywood screenwriter suffering from a midlife crisis resulting from the death of his mother, his wife's infidelity, and the pressures of his only success. His frustration, loneliness, and feelings of failure take him to Mexico, where he meets Carmen Jurado, a beautiful Mexican singer who helps him regain his inspiration and feel alive again. This week's past episodes and more information about the novela can be found on Telemundo's web site.

Everyone is welcome to join in the conversation. Since discussions of all the Telemundo novelas share the same page, please remember to put the name of the telenovela you're referring to at the top of your post, so readers can easily find the conversations they're looking for.

By common agreement, this group DOES NOT discuss previews, trailers, or any other plot information not found in a current or past episode of the current production. Spoilers WILL be removed by the admin. This includes reference to earlier productions of the story, and even the original novel. Thanks for your cooperation!

Thank you novelera and Juanita for the awesome executive decision to allow comments for this dizi. I am still trying to figure out if I actually have UniMas but if not, I can watch online. I seriously have missed checking in and reading comments or even though time consuming, doing a recap. Now I need to figure out how to fit a 2 hour epi in everyday!

I haven't watched this yet. But I might just start watching Fatma on Monday instead! I am very interested with all the talk here about everyone loving it. I didn't think I would be able to since I don't have cable but it seems the Univision Now app also plays Unimax programming, so I can check it out!

Correction: I've been informed that the correct label to use with posts about Fatmagül is "fatmagul," not "fatma." Please use the label "fatmagul" at the top of all postings about that telenovela, as I've done in this posting. (I've learned that I should refer to Fatmagül as a dizi rather than a telenovela, but I was afraid some people might not know what I was talking about.)

Thanks.

Finding it hard to pay full attention to this. Unless it gets better, I’ll end up half watching or ditching. Luckily, I have UniMas as a local broadcast station. As of now, I’d rather rewatch Fatmagul and finish other dizis I’ve started.

Thanks, novelera, for explaining who the “kids” belonged to. They kept referring to them as step children and I couldn’t figure out who was the step and who was the bio.

This novela makes La Suerte de Loli look like Shakespeare. I can't remember having seen so many idiocies packed into an hour...ever! I'm sorry if I offend anyone here who loves the show.

So we've had not one, but two, episodes in which the protagonist is in a total snit because she believes the man she loves tried to help her get a role in a movie.

Zerboni is a world-class mumbler. Whatever he was trying to say to George when the poor guy was trying to work was incomprehensible to me.

And...it appears the whole family are going to permanently stay in Beverly Hills. Juancho's friend in San Miguel said, if I understood correctly, that their house was emptied of all its furnishings by the thugs. I suppose we'll be treated to Juancho convincing the family to stay in Los Angeles for many, many episodes...not wanting to let them know he's responsible for them losing all their furniture and belongings.

And I also suppose they're going to have Leticia, Robert and the brats move in as well.

Once I get a look at Fatmagül, this one will probably fall by the wayside.

One more thing. If the rest of Viewerville reacts the same way I do to Parientes maybe they'll cut big chunks out of it and give us Hercai, parte 2 sooner!

Oh my goodness novelera, "This novela makes La Suerte de Loli look like Shakespeare" Hilarious! I hope Fatmagül is as great as the team says! I need something!

Well, this episode was somewhat better than yesterday's, but that's a very low bar. Here are some random thoughts.

At least we had some Hunky-Bar-worthy eye candy. Juancho takes off all but his undies to bathe the paralyzed Robert in George's pool. And his brother (or nephew?) Pedro, shirtless, gets into a fight with Leticia and George's son, Tomás. Yum!

Tomás goes running to daddy to complain about Pedro. He tells George "You're going to have to choose" between his bio kids and his novia's family. Seems like a no-brainer to me. Tomás also claims that he's going to have to sleep with a knife under his pillow.

Not sure what else was worth mentioning. I enjoyed the irony of money- grubbing Leticia warning George that Carmen is after his money. I also enjoyed the rather predictable scene where Tomás tells the cook Maria to take his suitcase and Carmen's mother tells him he has arms, he should take his own damn suitcase.

Of course, the episode ended with what passes for a cliffhanger. Leticia goes into George's bedroom, leaves a bottle of champagne and two glasses prominently displayed, and then hides in the bed. She pops up as soon as George comes in. And then, of course, a sexily-dressed Carmen, probably preparing to say Yes to George's proposal, knocks on the door. Gee, I wonder what's going to happen. Sigh.

LOL, novelera, ITA! Maybe they will edit or relegate this to another time slot. I can’t see this doing well against Uni programming.

Juanita, I don’t think there’s enough eye candy to save this, impressive as it was. I’m still having a hard time figuring out how everyone is related to each other. Margarita might be the one to adjust the attitudes of Tomas and Paz. Regarding the cliffhanger, you said it all: “Gee, I wonder what's going to happen. Sigh.”

Fatmagul

Don’t read Wikipedia, there are spoilers. Who’s who in the first few episodes:

Ketenci family: they run a small family dairy. Rahmi is married to Mukaddes, they have a young son, Murat. Fatmagul is Rahmi’s younger sister. She is engaged to Mustafa Nalcali.

Meryem Aksoy & Kerim Ilgaz: Meryem (aka Ebe Nine), is the local “healer”. She took Kerim into her care when he was a young boy. Kerim is a blacksmith, working in Master Galip’s shop. He hangs out with the Yasaran sons and Vural Namli when they are back in town.

Yasaran family: Wealthy. Originally from Izmir, they come back for summer vacations. Brothers Resat and Rifat run the company and their sons work there. Resat is married to Perihan, their son is Selim. Rifat is married to Hilmiye, their son is Erdogan. Munir Telci is Perihan’s brother and also the family lawyer.

Nalcali family: Mustafa, Fatmagul’s fiancé, is a fisherman. His mother is Halide and father is Emin.

Namli family: Vural is a friend of the Yasaran sons and Kerim. He plans to continue his studies in England. His mother is Leman, his father is Semsi.

Alagoz family: Meltem is Selim’s fiancée. Her mother is Ender and her father, Turaner, is a politician.

Fatmagul

Thanks very much, dondi356, for this info. It should help a lot. I'm not sure I can handle 2 hours a day, but I will certainly give it a try, especially since Parientes is so...what can I say?

fatmagul

A million thanks, dondi, for that very helpful cast of characters. Yes, Wikipedia is scary sometimes. Even if you're only looking for cast names, they can put in there that someone was murdered long before one sees it in an episode.

Fatmagul

Dondi, Thanks for providing that great introduction to the characters in Fatmagul. It will be fun reading everyone's comments about this excellent show .
