Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #82
Part 1 of 4

The episode begins with a repeat exchange at the dinner table where Hazar learns Miran donated blood to save him and then asks is there anything else they are hiding from him? Then it is a quick cut back to the Aslanbey courtyard where Sultana tells HAG that Gonul is going no where and of course HAG has more stuff to say about owning everyone’s life.

Back to the Sadoglu dining room:

Is what Zehra said true? Asks Hazar. Cihan and Handan cannot meet his eyes and there is a very uncomfortable silence. How could Yaren do this to the family? What would she gain? continues Hazar. Reyyan never did anything to this girl. You are right says Cihan. I have nothing to say other than to ask for your forgiveness brother. There is no way we can compensate you. The biggest mistake is not Yaren’s. It is ours, her mother and father. We had no idea that she had a black heart. Handan speaks up and offers an apology on behalf of her daughter. Cihan makes more pathetic excuses about not being able to control one’s child.

Hazar says, he just asks that Reyyan never finds out about the betrayal from her own family. Too late, says Nasuh, Reyyan learned about this when you were still in bed recovering and she asked us not to say anything to you. Hazar is shocked, especially when he realizes that even being upset, Reyyan still thougth bouat her father. (I am sure he also wondered why Zehra kept that tidbit of information from him). We are more enemy to Reyyan than the enemy, says Hazar, no wonder she prefers to live there. Nasuh also takes some responsibility, saying that Reyyan was treated poorly in his own home by him. I know I hurt her a lot. Thanks to Reyyan we now know how important it is to be a real family. She has taught me that. (Like two assassination attempts and 15 slaps too late GT). Azat was right, says Hazar, we pushed Reyyan away and out of this family. She will never leave Miran. Don’t ever hide things of this importance from me again, with that, Hazar uses his crutches to leaves the table and the room.

ReyMir arrive at the Sadoglu konak. Reyyan tells Miran she doesn’t live here and with a smile and kind words, says she will be with him through think and thin. The hard part of life is easier when they are side by side. She is never leaving him. Finally the chip on Miran shoulder is shaved off a bit and he backs out, Reyyan puts her hand on his.

Arriving at the Aslanbey konak, the yells from the “you are going” “no we are not going” rebellion can be heard outside the doors. Gonul can be heard saying, shouldn’t Miran be consulted for this decision? No, shouts HAG. Miran has nothing to do with this decision. Miran is immediately pulled into his “family” courtyard and drama, Reyyan follows. What decision will I not be a part of? he yells on his way in (meltdown time). A surprised HAG and coach roaches look more than annoyed at the turn of events, as Elif greets Reyyan. Reyyan smiles back and nods to Elif. What decision are you talking about HAG? Demands Miran.

HAG turns the question on to him, so where have you been all this time? Reyyan, grabs his hand to give him support and strength. Gonul and HAG see this gesture. A very meaningful look goes between ReyMir. We go to a memory flash back apparently after the major Miran meltdown on Friday. Miran has decided that he will not say anything about what he has learned regarding his mother and her village. Reyyan asks if he doesn’t trust HAG anymore? Miran says he wants to learn about his past on his own, not with anyone telling him what that past was all about.

Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #82
Part 2 of 4

I have to learn what is right and what is wrong. This is the only way I will ever reach the truth. You are afraid if someone learns that we have found out information about the past, they might attempt to change it, right? says Reyyan. Miran doesn’t respond, but has a look of resolve. (I am good with this plan).

Back in the courtyard, Miran tells HAG, It doesn’t matter where I was or what I was doing, I am here now. Now, looking at the roaches, tell me what is going on? Gonul is the first to tattle that HAG has all the preparations to send them abroad without their consent.

HAG makes a lame attempt to say she doesn’t know what kind of danger the family is in so she will send them away. Miran is on the verge of an angry meltdown, he tells HAG that she has no right to send anyone away without their consent and she cannot rule over everyone’s life because she will lose them all. No one is leaving. I am leaving, pipes up Elif, to everyone’s surprise as she looks directly at HAG, because I cannot stand to live in this house or with you anymore.

See, HAG, yells Miran, you are pushing way everyone, now Elif is going to leave! I am doing nothing but keeping my family safe, says HAG. You didn’t hear the threats I received from Cihan when I picked up Elif from the rapist’s doorstep. (Referring to Azat) Reyyan jumps in saying, my family is not planning anything. You can say that after all the bad things Nasuh has done to you, snaps HAG. The coach roaches all leave the courtyard as Reyyan says she is going to check on Elif.

Miran gets in HAG’s face and tell her that no one is going anywhere and he doesn’t want anyone leaving the konak without his permission. He will deal with the Sadoglu his own way. He heads up the stairs two at a time, leaving HAG to wonder, what is up with you Miran? What has changed? I will find out.

Sultana has already beat Reyyan to talk to Elif. She tells her that she cannot leave because that means she is running away from her love for Azat. Reyyan shows up at the slightly open door and Sultana sees her and begins to pour it on strong for Elif saying that a union with Azat could end the hostilities. She gets Elif to admit her love for Azat. Reyyan seems surprised but pleased. Elif tells Sultana, even though she loves Azat, a life with him is impossible and that is why she has to leave. Sultana plays it up, saying she cannot interfere as she leaves the room and acts surprised when she finds Reyyan standing outside the bedroom door.

Elif looks mortified that Reyyan may have heard the declaration of love for Azat. Elif is fine, says Sultana as she pretends to leave and close the door. Of course, she leaves it slightly ajar to listen in on the conversation. Reyyan says, Elif, you love my primo Azat? You aren’t angry, says Elif. Of course not, Reyyan says, I would be happy to see the two of you together. Outside the room, Sultana gloats to herself that Reyyan’s directness will ensure Elif and Azat hook up and Elif can blame Reyyan for pushing them together. She smiles as she walks away.

Elif wonders if she and Azat could ever really be happy. Reyyan tell her that she has to try and cannot leave just for that. They hug and Elif says she is so grateful to have Reyyan back. Reyyan tells her to get some rest, she will check on her a bit later.

Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #82
Part 3 of 4

Miran is changing clothes in the bedroom room when HAG walks in without knocking. He turns to he and says that he doesn’t want to discuss what just happened, the matter is closed. HAG says, you say that but don’t even know what goes on in this house because you are never here. Have you ever thought, why does my grandmother do these things? It is because the Sadoglu will never stop. Last night I caught the spy they placed in our home. Who? Asks Miran. Shahriyar, says HAG, I found her talking on the phone last night sharing our secrets. Reyyan comes into the bedroom. HAG continues, the Sadoglu were trying to separate you and Reyyan. It wasn’t Reyyan who signed the divorce papers, it was Yaren. (Nicely played HAG).

Miran guiltily glances over to Reyyan. Yaren, he asks, why would she do something like that? I have no idea, responds Reyyan. HAG continues, Reyyan resisted her family’s instance to divorce you. I don’t have any idea why Yaren would want you two divorced. I tried calling you to let you know so you could stop the damage to your relationship with Reyyan. Reyyan says, now you have told us and I don’t want to hear anymore. Gritting her teeth to stay calm, HAG says, I just wanted to let you know, as it is clear you are angry with each other because of someone else. I just want you to take care of each other and end this unpleasantness. She leaves the room as Reyyan tries not to look too smug and Miran too guilty.

Yaren is on the phone trying to reach the recently canned Turkish Lupe. There is no answer and Yaren wonders where she is. In comes Handan with several dresses. She tells Yaren to choose an outfit for tonight starts the rest of her life. Yaren pleads not to make her marry someone she doesn’t know. Handan reminds her of all the things she has done and to consider herself lucky that she is only facing marriage. (There is a lot more to the conversation but I don’t want to recap more repeats or stupid Handan sayings. I will believe the marriage when I actually see it!).

Back to the ReyMir bedroom, Reyyan tells Miran, I told you I didn’t sign those divorce papers. Yes, I know, he responds. I believed you the first time you said so. I have never stopped trusting you. The problem is not the divorce, he says, but the lack of trust between us. This time I was the one who got hurt. Reyyan grabs both of his hands and promises to cure his hurts with her love and tells him that he cannot distance himself from her like that. He doesn’t look too convinced, drops her hands and says, You are here. We are together, but how will it work Reyyan? Do we just act like nothing ever happened? Is there any guarantee that you won’t destroy me again by listening to someone else? I cannot get your words out of my head. He drops her hands. I came from the village house of my mother after learning of the past that was hidden from me, my heart broken in pieces and you still took our future away with your words.

Mr. Mopey, (thank you dondi356) turns away saying, what frightens me is that I know I am in your heart but I don’t know where I stand your head. I can’t imagine the limits you can think me capable of. After all, our relationship began as a big lie and certainly, that is something you will always have on your mind. You won’t forget our difficult start. That mistake continues to block our path. Tell me Reyyan, after all that we have been through, can we ever really trust each other? Or do we just pretend to trust each other?

Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #82
Part 4 of 4

Reyyan moves back to his side and says, it is like the fairy tale you told Gul, we have to wait and see what happens. I promise we will make it work. Mr. Mopey isn’t convinced, I don’t know Reyyan, if that will ever happen. I am not convinced we can ever trust each other again; I need to think. He leaves the room. Reyyan says to herself, I know we can make it work, as long as you keep me in your heart.

Miran visits Elif in her bedroom. He asks her if she is leaving because HAG is making her? Elif says that no one of them have a real life outside of what HAG allows as her boundaries. Miran tells Elif that she doesn’t have to go and he as her primo will support that decision, regardless of what HAG says. Elif says she does want to go. Miran tells her he just wants her to be happy wherever she is and that she always has him to lean on. On his way out, Elif tells Miran to protect Reyyan. Surprised, he asks, why? is there something I should know?

Cut to the Sadoglu kitchen where Handan is giving orders to the help about the engagement dinner meal for Yaren and the soon to be most miserable man on earth. There is some back and forth, (feel free to fill in) including Gul sneaking in and standing behind Handan mimicking her, keeping Nigar, Hanife and Melike on the verge of busting out laughing. In the end, Handan gives her orders and leaves, Melike asks Hanife why she didn’t give Handan more push back like she usually does. Hanife says its because getting rid of Yaren is worth a little work. (Here, Here!)

Up on the balcony, the Weaklings are having a discussion. Hazar is upset about his lie that has caused so much heartache. He is especially upset because Miran gave him the lifesaving blood. He never thought about the consequences of the telling the lie in an attempt to save Reyyan. Weakling Zehra, says it is really all her fault (the Patio agrees) for making Hazar tell the lie because she was afraid that Azize would hurt Reyyan and Miran would kill Hazar. Hazar argues back that Miran has not intention of killing him, he would have done so already. He thinks Miran has doubts and would not do anything to jeopardize the love he has for Reyyan but also because he has a good heart, Hazar has seen it in his eyes. The pathetic discourse continues with Hazar telling Zehra that Reyyan and Miran will never believe him again nor will they forgive him. He will have to live with this shame.

Azat is in his bedroom as Cihan knocks on the door. Cihan sits on the bed and pretends to be a good dad, supporting Azat for the feelings he still has for Reyyan and that he was right, they should have gathered as a family to protect her. (I just don’t trust Cihan at all). Azat wishes his dad had seen the light much earlier. Especially after what Yaren did to Reyyan and the family. Cihan says that they cannot fix the past, but Azat can definitely still help keep Reyyan safe by making Elif a member of the Sadoglu family. The episode ends on Azat’s stunned face.

Here

Too bad zehra didn't use her opportunity to fess up about the second letter in her posession. She is robbig hazar of precious time with his son. too many years have already been taken from them. I guess the shame of being an unwed mother is more important than her love of family...reyan...etc.

VVS...wowee wow ...thank you so much for every moment of a rocking , rolling episode. I enjoy reading your excellent recaps and insightful comments. I only saw bits and pieces because I was watching " The Voice" and recording " DWTS."

Mir is beautiful but extremely high maintenance . I can tolerate Mr. Mopey , but Mr. Meltdown is just too mucho mucho . I dont like yellers. Guy has to simmer down . I am a fan of the strong , silent type. Silence is golden, Mir.

Looks like the two sweetest souls Elif and Azat are destined for a HEA as people plot to get them together . haha

Yaren is now the new Bachelorette.

P.s. What is up with making Mir's poor gram crawl in and out of that bedroom through a hole in the wall.

herc

I agree Nett, Zehra missed a great opportunity to say something about that letter. Keeping Reyyan’s bio dad a mystery is not going to help her or Hazar gain back trust either. Sounds like her insecurity and fears are clouding any judgement whatsoever.

Thank you Susanlynn for the great comments. I am glad you watched The Voice and DWTS, this episode was another let down for me. Way too much Handan for my liking.

Mr. Meltdown is even getting on my nerves and I have been a big Miran supported from the beginning. I get it that he is angry that HAG lied to him about the past, but he needs to button it up a bit if he thinks he is going to “pretend” not to know anything and play the game with Azize. She is way too astute for him.

Yaren, until I see the groom, I am not going to believe there is going to be a wedding. Do Balconettes usually get a HEA? 😊

If we get to see more of Grannie Thanksgiving (that is how the Turkish version translates her name to English) I worry about her getting around too. That hole in the wall takes some real contortionism to get through.

Thanks very much, VVS, for another excellent recap. I'm afraid I enjoyed your recap considerably more than the actual episode. My patience for Miran's incessant accusations and moanings ran out some time ago. He may be goodlooking and occasionally passionate, but I'd hate to have to live with him.

Your referring to Hazar and Zehra as "the Weaklings" was perfect! And I enjoyed your comment about Nasuh having learned his lesson about how to treat Reyyan "(Like two assassination attempts and 15 slaps too late GT)."

I was surprised and VERY disappointed that what Zehra revealed to Hazar was not The Letter but simply what Yaren had done. And Hazar finds that everyone already knew about it but him. Yawn.

I'm trying to figure out what HAG's next move will be. She's clearly trying to make Miran feel that she's supportive of his love for Reyyan. I don't believe her for a minute.

One thing that has surprised me is HAG's deference to Miran, not just to win him over but, apparently, because he has the most important say in what happens. Is it true of Turkish society in general that yelling, moaning nieto trumps steely abuela? I would have thought that age might count for more. Mind you, I'm very glad it doesn't (in this case), but I hate the implications about the importance of masculinity in that society.

I'm not sure what to expect tonight. If it's just More Of The Same, I think I'll have a one-page recap that simply says FF>>. But with so few episodes to go, I'm hopeful that I won't have to resort to that.

Herc

Well alright VVS! Loving your recap! And I have to agree with Juanita that I enjoyed it much more than the episode! Same ole song Miran needs to learn a new tune cause this one is played out! Along with his his constant yelling, Im soooo done with him! I’m finished with the weaklings too, and Zehra’s continuous sad sack expressions. If you gonna tell someone else’s truth Zehra, tell your own while you’re at it! Don’t be a one sided tattle taler.

Don’t care about Yaren’s antics. Hope she gets a FU-INE hubby to be, who’ll dump her deep down under the altar! But even then, I don’t think it will bother her too much. Yaren seems to always bounce back with all 15 of her lying faces.

And speaking of lying, Hag is top dog!! Wag that lying tail of yours Hag, but one day, and I hope soon, she will get bit! What an opportunist that witch is!

I’m still holding out for Gonul and Azat, but Elif is such a sweet, caring soul who deserves a guy like Azat…….

herc

Thank Juanita and carmella for the comments. I have to admit, I think I liked my recap more than the episode too! JK!!!

Juanita, I really hope it picks up a bit for you tonight. You probably noticed my recap was considerably shorter than what I normally do because of all the repeats and my refusal to go into detail when it comes to Handan and those silly kitchen scenes. I was disappointed the Zehra didn’t pull out that letter and fess up. Especially after GT’s speech about the family being united, well bring in the new son and grandson Miran! I thing HAG is willing to be a chameleon and change up her revenge game as much as possible. Hopefully your epi tonight is full of twists and turns plus some reveals!

carmella, it is so great to have you back! Miran is getting on everyone’s last nerve. He needs a new song and band! “Zehra’s continuous sad sack expressions” lol. Yaren does indeed seem to have 15 lives! I hope that Azat and Elif find love, even with other people. They are so nice.

"MALVERDE":

Good afternoon everyone. Anybody watching this Telenovela because it seems like there's agreement that Pedro Fernandez is NOT the right fit to be the leading character.

malv

Hi Steve! I am not watching this TN and one of the reasons is the lackluster star power from my perspective, especially the lead man. I hope you are enjoying it if you are watching.

Herc

Thanks for another great recap, VVS! I agree with Juanita: “The Weaklings” is a perfect fit for Hazar and Zehra.“ and "(Like two assassination attempts and 15 slaps too late GT)" is spot on snark.

I figured Zehra’s “revelation” would be a big nothing. We just got the big reveal of Dilsah’s mother. I think they are going to keep the father/son secret for a looong time. An incentive to have us sit through another season.

Grannie Thanksgiving is funny. Şükran translates to “thankfulness” or “gratitude” so that’s what an auto translator picks up. Miran would call Şükran “anneanne”, for grandma on mother’s side. He calls Azize “babaanne”, for grandma on father’s side. We should be thankful Miran has one good grandparent.

LOL, Susanlynn, “Yaren is now the new Bachelorette.” Can’t wait to meet the loser. I wonder if Yaren will poison his coffee?

“One thing that has surprised me is HAG's deference to Miran” The hierarchy in dizis always interests me. Especially the more traditional ones like Hercai or Embajador. Seems male dominant, but mothers are revered. Yes, Azize is the elder, so it’s kinda what she says goes. But even though he is young, Miran is the “man of the house”, with responsibilities for the family’s wellbeing. So, things get heated. Azize is smart enough to know when apply pressure or guilt and when to pull back to reach her ultimate goals. She is devious as hell. Similar dynamic between Halise (aka Hellise) and Sancar in Embajador. And Nasuh rules the roost at the Sadoglu konak, no question.

I worry about Elif, carmella. If Azat can’t fully return her love, it will be a disaster. You may get the Azat/Gonul pairing after all.

Juanita: “If it's just More Of The Same, I think I'll have a one-page recap that simply says FF>>” lol... I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you and us.

dondi356

herc

Thank you so much, VVS, for coming up with a clever and witty recap despite the stupidity and repetitiveness on display last night.

I do disagree on one thing. I am actually believing Cihan has reformed. There was some kind of "come to Jesus" (whoops, come to Allah!) moment a while back where he realized his jealousy about Nasuh's preference for his first-born was not Hazar's fault. And he has been unfailingly supportive of his brother since. I also liked the way he backed Azize down during the confrontation about Elif having come to the Sadoglu konak. IIRC, she almost hid behind Mahmoud when he was le diciendo las cuatro verdades. [I am enjoying this expression about telling someone a thing or two.]

I am even believing that, once Nasuh saw the true rattlesnake he'd loved so much for what she is, he wants to make amends to Reyyan.

On the same page about Miran's droning on and on about Reyyan's having thought Elif had come to confess at his bidding. She's apologized for that over and over. But he kept expecting her to quickly get over his having married her under false premises. At least this time he's owning up that what he did may play a part in his belief things will never work.

Loved the description of Yaren's prospective bridegroom as "soon to be the most miserable man on earth". That was fast! They managed to come up with a guy in record time. I'm surprised all the scandal about the Sadoglu hasn't caused some reluctance.

Hazar needs to stop easily forgiving Zehra for what she did. Sure, it's his nature to be that way. But she IS the reason their daughter is estranged. And I'm giving up hope she's ever going to pull that letter out of the pocket of one of those ubiquitous sweaters she's always wearing.

herc

Appreciate the detailed comments dondi356 and novelera!

dondi356, I may have to keep Grannie Thanksgiving if we continue to see Şükran and thank you for explaining the different grandma and grandpa version in the Turkish language. I also don’t have a good feeling about Azat or Elif, not sure they will make the 69 Turkish episodes. I don’t think Azat can move on from Reyyan for a long time. Maybe Elif should just move away.

novelera, I appreciate your point of view about Cihan having an attitude adjustment. I think it is temporary. His jealousy and need to prove him is always just right there under the surface, bubbling. I hope you are correct and he becomes a real support for the family. I was also glad to hear Miran finally own up to what he did to Reyyan and how it is affecting their effort to move on. “Ubiquitous sweaters” lol. It is always ugly sweater day for Zehra.

Fingers crossed for a more exciting episode tonight!

HERCAI

Thank you VVS for this recap! ITA about the yelling, Holy Mole. I couldn't handle all the noise. I came into the show later so I had to go back to watch the beginning eps but do you think Elif has learned her deep sensitivity (compared to her fam members) as a way to survive the constant verbal/physical beat downs the whole family gives each other? The poor thing is almost always crying, whining, wringing her hands, running away...i feel for her, watching her she behaves much younger than her years. If she marries Azat she will have some freedom but no happiness, Azat is just not into her.

Is Little Grandma the same actress that played Redika in HIJA, only with different makeup? Poor thing she looks like a little Hobbit coming and going in her own house!
SaraAnne

herc

Great to see you back on the Patio SaraAnne! I really appreciate you commenting on the recap.

Elif was a strong, independent young woman when HAG and the rest were living in Kars. When they moved to Midyat to start the HAG venganza, Elif had been sheltered from all of HAG’s evilness. Her emotional reactions are coming from a place of goodness and shock as to what she is now witnessing. I just hope she can survive whatever is coming. I have hopes that Azat can move on and love Elif.

This is my first dizi, so I am not familiar with the actors. I am sure one of our other knowledgeable Patio team will be able to answer your question about Grannie Thanksgiving.

Hercai: #83 - p 1 of 3

As the episode opens, Cihan speaks to Azat. "We saw the hate in Azize's eyes, and we nonetheless gave her Reyyan. We can't change the past, but there's a way you can protect Reyyan: marry Elif Aslanbey and bring her here. Azize can't hurt Reyyan when her granddaughter is here." Azat is not enthusiastic. Cihan urges him to think about it. If Azat can't do it, Cihan will think of another way.

We then see Zehra walking in the street like a very old woman. Gul sees her and asks her doll whether they should follow her. They do. Zehra is unaware that Gul is just a few feet behind her.

At the Aslanbey compaound, Reyyan is looking for Miran. She sees Esma and asks whether she has seen Miran. Esma asks her to sit down. "I know you feel his pain," Esma tells her, "but you need to be patient." Reyyan says that this time is different: "I've hurt him deeply." Esma assures her that when all this passes, Miran's love will be even stronger. As they're talking, they suddenly hear someone call out "Reyyan! Reyyan! I want to see my daughter!" Azize greets her. "There's no need to yell, Zehra." Sultana makes a snide remark about expecting they'll be having lots of Sadoglu guests. Azize snaps at her, "I decide who can visit. When you buy your own mansion, you can decide." Zehra asks to see both Reyyan and Miran.

Gul arrives at the door of the Aslanbey compound. She sees the two guards at the entrance. One asks why she has come alone. The quick-thinking Gul tells them that she came with her mother, who has already entered. However, she (Gul) had seen some girls she wanted to play with. Her mother gave her permission, but now she's bored. She asks the guards "Do you always stand here?" Yes. "Even if it rains?" Yes. "Even when it snows?" Yes.

Meanwhile, Zehra sees Reyyan, who asks her whether she's OK. "No, I'm not," responds Zehra. Reyyan asks whether something has happened to her father. Zehra says her father's health is OK. Miran thinks he should leave mother and daughter to talk by themselves, but Zehra asks him to stay. With much effort, she blurts out, "I was the one who asked your father to lie!" HAG, of course, is standing outside the door, listening. "Why confess now, Zehra?" she wonders. So of course she stays to hear more. Zehra admits that Hazar didn't want to lie, he said Miran was an orphan. Hazar was tormented. "But I threatened to take Gul and leave. I was so afraid Azize would try to kill Reyyan again. I saw Azize at Hazar's bedside at the ICU. She said he wasn't going to die because she was going to kill his daughter, so he would live in hell. She was going to kill my daughter." Reyyan is not sympathetic. "How could you do this, Mama? All your lie did was push me away and make me suffer. I almost lost the two most important men in my life because of you. Don't try to change my destiny, I accept it with everything it brings, even if it means death."

Miran storms into Azize's room and yells at HAG: "Did you go to the hospital to see Hazar?" "Where are your manners?" the unflappable Azize replies. "You came in without knocking." HAG then admits that yes, she went to the hospital to see Hazar. "And did you threaten to kill Reyyan?" Miran asks. Yes, she replies calmly. "Tell me why," demands Miran. "Because they thought you pushed Hazar. I did it to protect you. They lied to separate you from your wife. I threatened Hazar to control him. And now you're blaming me for protecting you from our enemy?" Miran then asks, "Are there other threats that I don't know about?" "Perhaps yes, perhaps no," Azize responds. Miran leaves. Azize thinks, "These people think they can destroy me. Azize Aslanbey remains stronger, much stronger."

Hercai: #83 - p 2 of 3

Gonul sees Reyyan and thinks, "Reyyan is back--she thinks forever. But she'll find out that's not true."

Meanwhile, Gul is still outside charming the guards. She asks them whether they're as brave as Miran, and then says, "I'm bored, please let me in." They do. Esma catches sight of her and takes her to the kitchen. No sooner have Esma and Gul disappeared than Reyyan and her mother come down to the courtyard. "You're my mother and I'm your daughter. We're inseparable," says Reyyan. "But you've broken my heard into a million pieces." Zehra replies, "Perhaps some day you'll forgive us. Visit your father from time to time." She leaves.

Gul catches sight of Reyyan and calls out to her. Gul admits that she "came with Mama but she didn't see me. I followed her." Miran convinces Reyyan to let Gul stay for a while; they can bring her back later. He gives Reyyan a phone to call Zehra and let her know Gul is here. They ask Gul what she'd like to do. She's full of energy and rattles off several possibilities--baking a cake, playing hide and seek, etc. They insist that she pick one. She chooses hide and seek. As Miran closes his eyes and counts to 20, Gul looks for a good place to hide. She finds one--the cabinet inside Azize's room! In it, she finds a photo of a woman, who, unlike Azize, is not scary.

Reyyan tells Miran that after all he's been through, he doesn't have to humor Gul. She (Reyyan) can bring her home now. Miran says no, he likes having Gul here. "When I see her, I feel my prolems are behind me. I feel my life is going back to normal as if nothing had happened. But this is not just for me. She's just a child. If she's happy, let her stay and have happy memories. One day she'll be grown and upset for some reason. Give her happy memories, she'll remember them and it won't be so hard to face the present."
He continues, "Don't be mad at your mother because she made a mistake. Appreciate her effort. Be grateful she's still alive. No matter what she's done, appreciate her while she's still alive."

The scene shifts to Nasuh and Yusuf arriving at the Sadoglu country house. Nasuh sees that Cihan is there, too. Cihan tells him that the lawyer called and said there was a potential buyer. "What?" exclaims a suddenly enraged Nasuh. "You can't sell my property without asking me! Tell the man to leave! If you have so much time, go watch your daugher!" Nasuh is irrationally angry. It's clear he has strong feelings about the country house, even though, as Cihan points out, he has often said he hates it. Yusuf explains to Cihan that "the country house means something different to your father. The house is very dear to him." He mentions the fire, but it's still not clear (at least not to me) just what happened there and to whom.

Reyyan and Miran suddenly remember that they're playing hide and seek, and they try to find Gul. Reyyan even opens the door to Azize's room, sees Azize inside, and quickly closes it. It takes a while, but Azize apparently leaves and they finally do find Gul in the large cabinet in Azize's room. She's still looking at the photo of the woman. (I have no idea who the woman is. Two guesses: Dilsah and Hanife. I think it would be strange for Azize to keep a photo of Dilsah, but... Or could the photo be of a young Azize, when she's not yet a scary witch?) I had hoped that Miran might catch sight of the photo, but he didn't, he simply closed the cabinet and left the room.

Reyyan and Miran bring Gul back to the Sadoglu konak. Reyyan sees Melike and others cleaning the place up. Reyyan asks why and she's told about preparation for Yaren's marriage.

Hercai: #83 - p 3 of 3

Yaren then comes out, sees Reyyan, and comes over. The two women stare at each other. "Why did you do it? You signed the divorce papers," says Reyyan. "Yes, and I enjoyed it," replies Yaren. "It didn't work out, but...oh well. I'll never let you be happy, Reyyan." Reyyan responds, "I'm sick of your lies and games. Don't dare mess with my life." Yaren sneers, "What will you do? Cry and get sad? Or grab me and throw me in the plaza, as they did to you?" Reyyan goes after her, and other people have to break up their fight.

Yaren then tells Hazar, "Your daughter is paying for what she did. She took what was mine." She looks around at the crowd of family members that has formed. "You all think I'm the bad one, but I'm not. You're all bad ones. I'm geting revenge for my losses. I'm evil, and you know my reasons. And why did you all do what you did? Because you're good?" She turns to Nasuh and asks, "Abuelo, didn't you want to marry Reyyan to a man old enough to be her father, and didn't you try to have her killed?" "And you, Mama, didn't you stay quiet when you knew what would happen to her?" Moving on to Azat, she asks, "Didn't you try to kidnap Reyyan even though she didn't love you?" She then asks Hazar, "When my grandfather ordered to have your daughter killed, didn't you prefer to lie rather than speak up?" (I don't remember this. Can someone refresh my memory?)

Yaren continues, "You all want to vindicate your bad behavior through me. And now you want to marry me off and absolve yourselves of your sins. Do it. But I'm not like you. I have only one face."

Miran tells Reyyan they should leave. She goes up to her father and says, "If I ever become a mother, I'll love my children as you love me." He tells her, "No, you'll love them better. I committed a terrible thing. I'm sorry." She replies, "Papa, don't expect more from me right now." And with that the episode ends (not with a bang but a whimper).

Thanks Juanita! Great recap and so worth the watch this episode! Gul is literally a “jewel” and brightens even the darkest spaces with her “lil miss sunshine” self! So nice to see Mr Mopey laugh, smile and play with Gul. It reminds me of the fact that poor Miran is actually way too old for his young age—— thanks to Azize no doubt. And what about twisted sister #1! Azize continues to lie and manipulate and it obviously brings her great joy! She needs to be added to the Halloween hall of fame of dark, scary characters, lol.

And then we get to twisted sister #2, Yaren. Go head Yaren with your bad, psychotic and soulless self! What a dynamic and fearless BITCH you are! And you let all the major players know from whence your darkness arose! Gotta admire you for that move, though I hate your guts! Difference between you and them is quite clearly, REMORSE, something you have absolutely no clue about! Yeah, Sadoglus’, marry her off and let somebody else deal with her crazy! Hopefully he is a worthy opponent! Funny thing is, over the years, we cannot probably even begin to imagine how much Yaren has taken from Reyyan. She’s just gotten to the point ( thanks again Sadoglus) to believe that she deserves everything and anything that she wants. She’s an entitled, crazier than a loon brat, and will probably be the death of you all, haha!

Im sick of Sultana’s roux haired azz too! Find her a man too, since that seems to be the “in” thing right now. If you were any kind of reality based mama, you’d tell your daughter to flip Miran the middle finger. He don’t want you Gonul, even if, and that’s a BIG if, he didn’t want Reyyan. Time to marry Gonul off too! Like “ Alice in Wonderland” off with their heads, or off and get em married, lol! Like that solves the world’s problems.....smh......

Thanks again Juanita! Your recap hit the spot!

Thank you, Juanita.

This seemed like a transitional episode. The storyline of "Who pushed Hazar" was wrapping up. Zehra confessed that it was her idea and Reyyan made it known to everybody that it was Yaren who forged her signature on the divorce papers and sent them to Miran. Now, on to other storylines. The ones talked about are Elif and Azat, and Yaren and the poor soul of her groom.

The picture Gul found had rippled edges. Those were used up to the 1960s - 70s, the picture is 50 years old, of a young woman. I think it is a picture of young Azize (possibly aka Ayse.) Soon after that scene they showed the scene of Nasuh getting upset about Cihan selling the country house and Yusuf mentioning the fire. They keep reminding us about the Azize-Nasuh connection. What we know about the fire is that Nasuh lost his sweetheart Ayse there, Azize survived it and has burns on her back from it.

Yaren has overtaken Reyyan by the number of slaps received. She has been slapped by: Handan, Cihan, Nasuh, Zehra and now Reyyan. It is interesting to see what kind of groom they found for Yaren. I hope he is as much of a snake as she is.

Juanita, thank you for giving us another recap as this tale continues to unravel.

Gul is a charmer . Watching her Chat with those tall , imposing guards was fun . She brings out the best in Mir who is all smiles and affection around his little half sis. You can see the call of the blood between them .

herc

Terrific recap! So glad you had a better episode, Juanita. I don’t have a lot of time to comment today and wanted to thank you for providing the conversations in such great detail.

I agree with the others that Gul was so cute and I was happy to see a calmer side to Miran for a change.

Glad Reyyan was able to tell Zehra a few choice things!

Is that picture another sister? Is it Ayse? Is Ayse really Azize?

Yay Reyyan! Nice slap of Yaren! I was hoping someone would push her down the stairs!

Got to run! Thanks again Juanita!

herc

Thanks so much, Juanita. Your recap was excellent! You described all the conversations perfectly. Gah! Azize is always one step ahead. And...no one in telenovelas nor dizis ever seems to shut a door to a room when having a serious, plot developing conversation. That's so someone can always overhear it. Had Azize not been there, Miran confronting her could have caught her unawares. But...no.

I need a cobble together a Halloween costume soon I'd love to go as Azize, raccoon eyes and scarf (or is it meant to be a hijab), but no one would "get it". My granddaughter's birthday is near Halloween and she always throws a party. Last year was the pandemic...so nada. But this year she's having one with fully vaccinated attendees. My granddaughter and I share a love of Halloween, so I have lots of spare hats, masks, witch dresses, etc. in my closet. The one I wore to win first prize at a big party was Charlie Chaplin, complete with moustache, curly black wig, big floppy shoes, a bamboo cane, and a bowler hat.

I didn't feel a tiny bit of pity for Zehra.

I also think the photograph in Azize's closet may have been of her younger self. The whole Ayse thing has me completely confused. If Ayse died in a fire, then how did Nasuh engender two sons?

I am also tired of the Sultana/Gonul Show. I wonder if Firat will turn out to be not a relative of Gonul, and they could end up together. Gonul isn't all bad, but she just can't give up Miran.

And, yes, every single scene with Miran and Gul is delightful. His whole demeanor changes when he lays eyes on that kid. I also enjoyed her questioning the guards.

They surely are making us wait to see Yaren's prospective bridegroom. I have no hope she'll be married off and leave the cast. Somehow that letter she's been hoarding will get her out of it.

Many thanks, carmella, Lucio, Susanlynn, and VVS, for your interesting and insightful comments.
Carmella, I loved your twisted sister #1 and #2! And yes, I too begrudgingly admired Yaren's nerve/audacity/gall to call out most of her family. You're right, unlike most of them, she knows no remorse. She of course thinks that she's more honest than they are, since (according to her) she has only one face, rather than being two-faced like the others. But she's a perfect example of being two-faced. Her ability to turn tears on and off in an instant is one of many examples.
Lucio, good point about the scene with Gul and the photo of the mystery woman is followed soon after by Nasah and Yusuf at the country house. We're getting closer to understanding what happened and to whom, but we're not quite there yet.
Susanlynn, interesing point about "the call of the blood" between Gul and Miran! In spite of my knowing that Hazar is father to both, I never thought about the fondness between Gul and Miran in those terms.
VVS, thanks for making time to comment. And yes, it seems to be unanimous, Gul definitely is adorable. I especially loved the way she dealt with the Aslanbey guards.

With only four more episodes to go, I hope we get lots of reveals from now on.

herc

Thanks very much, novelera, for your great comments. I always enjoy them. You're certainly right about open doors. Perhaps it's a worldwide unwritten law--important discussions MUST be conducted with the door at least ajar.

Azize also seems to have an infallible sense of when to be where. And I loved your idea of going to a Halloween party as Azize. Now that's scary!

And what a good question you raise: "If Ayse died in a fire, then how did Nasuh engender two sons?" I certainly don't have an answer. Perhaps someone else on the patio will offer some thoughts.

Finally, I suspect you're right about Yaren. She's likely to be able to use that letter to her advantage. Or at least try to. The thing about Yaren's plots is that they keep being thwarted. ¡Ojalá it's true this time!

Hi all. I don't think anyone offered to cover last nights episode so I will put up a quick minicap in a little bit...we have lots to talk about!

Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #84
Mini-Cap

The Old:

ReyMir are still not connecting. Miran has fears that since now each of their families has tried to separate and hurt them with lies, the old wounds will never heal and now they are dealing with new wounds. Reyyan is positive that there is hope. Miran walks the alleyways of Midyat, feeling sorry for himself and not knowing how he and Reyyan will ever connect again. He cannot breathe or exist without her. He doesn’t know what to do.

Gonul tries to be a smarty pants with Reyyan after watching Miran walk away from her on the street. Reyyan listens but puts Gonul in her place by saying: Get it through your head that we are a couple and your “dreams” are now my reality.

Reyyan is at the cabin with a bunch of bags in her hand, looking resolved to fix everything between she and Miran.

Sultana, dressed in a disguise, meets with Azat and tells him to marry Elif to stop the family hostilities.

Azat has an out of body experience with Cihan, Sultana and Elif all telling him the best thing to do is get married. He wasn’t asleep, so it must have been some of that Tibetan Loli tea.

The Weaklings continue to be weak.

Azize tries to figure out who in her inner circle is conspiring with the note master.

The New:

Good Grannie Thanksgiving (GGT) puts lunch on the table, praying that Miran will one day return. She wonders what he likes to eat and what he was like when he was a child. Did he read a lot like his mother? It is sad, but cute.

We finally meet the Groom! What the heck??? He is very handsome and comes from a rich family. He seems to be quite the jokester too. Surprisingly, Yaren accepts to be married to this handsome young man! Then we find out why. Yaren calls Azize to thank her for setting up the fake groom.

Azize laugh as she remembers a conversation in her car plotting with Yaren. Yaren offers to sink ReyMir with the divorce papers if Azize saves her from getting married. We don’t hear the response from Azize. The current day Yaren is gleefully asking Azize where she found such a handsome guy. Azize laughs again and says she had nothing to do with in and encourages Yaren to get married and enjoy her life. Another well played situation by Azize.

Reyyan leaves the cabin and calls Miran, asking him to come quickly to the cabin, she has something to show him. He arrives, concerned and upon entering the cabin we see string hung from corner to corner. He receives a voice text from Reyyan, telling him that their story started and ended in that cabin. Now she wants to take him down a trip of memory lane.

She highlights happy things like the dress she was wearing when the met, the compact mirror and ankle bracelet he gave her, the swing in the sky where she fell in love with him completely. I saw the wedding dress and other things, but the episode ends as he is going to the next item via the string to guide him, so I am guessing tonight we will get the negative stuff.

Not sure of the plan Reyyan has, but I sure hope they get together and end the on again off again drama.

I am sure I missed a lot so fill free to fill in.

I fell behind yesterday. My thanks to Juanita for a great Tuesday recap. I'm going to watch the Wed ep today on my "lunch hour".

Cute stuff with Gul and Miran. I wanted Gul to take that picture back to the Sadoglu konak and have Yusuf find it.

Yaren can't get slapped enough, but it only serves to feed her need for revenge. I don't know if she will ever repent.

Thanks for offering to put up a minicap, VVS.

dondi356

Herc

VVS, thanks for getting the conversation started. Your “minicap” covered it well.

Azat is getting pressure from all sides to marry Elif. The schemers are using his love for Reyyan as leverage. I’m afraid marry Elif now and divorce her later is not going to work.

Surprise! Yaren’s damat (groom), Harun, is a good looking guy who probably smelled good, too. Lol, Handan felt sorry for dumping Yaren on him.

Hazar gave Yaren the chance to speak up, but she deferred to her elders, thinking she had an agreement with Azize and the damat. I wonder if Azize really had something to do with it because Hanife seemed to know a lot about him, a wealthy landowning family, educated in America. She mentioned Cambridge, maybe she was referring to Harvard. And Harun’s family said they were staying at the Hotel Aslanbey. That didn’t go over well.

Would it benefit Azize to get Yaren out of the way? Ha, Azize wished her, “bir yastıkta kocayın”, may you grow old on one pillow! Azize thinks she got the last laugh but maybe she should worry about making Yaren an enemy.

Yep, classic, having Harun and Yaren run into each other. Yaren seemed almost human in this scene. He called her on the salty coffee. He was one step ahead of her on it. Could he be the one to tame this beast?

I noticed a spinster sister eyeing Azat and another one made a comment about “reaching the age of marriage” that was pointedly directed to Nasuh. And Harun’s dad wanted the official engagement to take place right away.

I think you’re right, VVS, we are gonna get the “negative” ReyMir stuff next. We’ll see if the cabin strategy works out well for Reyyan.

I need to see Akin Akınözü in a different leading role. I can’t stand Miran, Mr. Mopey/Meltdown. BTW, he is a finalist for the “Best Actor Non-Hispanic Speaking” award at Premios PRODU 2021 for Hercai. So is Engin Akyürek for Embajador.

dondi356

herc

Thanks very much, VVS, for your fine minicap. I liked how you broke it into Old and New. I don't think you left out anything important. I just wish the episode had included more New. Heck, we now have only three episodes to go.

I was happy that Reyyan hasn't lost hope, and that her emotional strength enables her not only to be positive with Mr. Moody/Grumpy/Weepy but also to stand up impressively to Gonul. I also appreciated your confirming that what Azat had was an out of body experience. And yes, "The Weaklings continue to be weak." Well said.

As for the New, I enjoyed Yaren apparently meeting her match, so to speak. I confess that when the prospective groom's family said they were staying at the Aslanbey Hotel, I found myself wondering whether Azize was telling the truth when she told Yaren that she had nothing to do with finding the groom. Needless to say, I'm hoping she was telling the truth.

I might mention that, like dondi356, I was hoping something more would happen with the photo that so intrigued Gul in the previous episode. Oh well....

Again, many thanks, VVS. I really enjoyed the minicap.

Herc

Thanks VVS! Your mini cap says it all, and is a good one indeed! Miran has truly lost his way, and Im of the mind that Reyyan should allow him to be without her. I bet it would take Miran less than 24 hrs to figure things out, and if she could somehow find a “ stand -in,” Im sure that seeing her potentially with another guy, would really throw him over the edge! Unfortunately, Reyyan doesn’t play those kind of games, let alone know how to. What she did was thoughtful and loving, but like you’ve all said, I’m sure we will get more of the old Miran.

Poor Azat, but that Tibetan Loli tea sounds like it might be some good stuff under the right circumstances, lol! No matter what Azat decides, a one-sided love will never work, and I fear this match won’t bode well for Elif......

I’m diggin the new Reyyan with her cool, yet undeniable inner fire. She’s got that “ if you ain’t for us, go to hell,” attitude, and it suits her. Gonul was left looking—— and feeling pathetic, which serves her right!

That’s the first time I’ve seen a deep down belly laugh from Azize after her conversation with Yaren.......maybe she is human after all 🤔🤔

Many thanks again VVS 😁

herc

I really appreciate your putting up a mini for last night's episode, VVS. Nothing wrong with just something to get the conversation going.

Reyyan is definitely developing a backbone. She told Gonul that she used to feel sorry for her (despite the attempt to suffocate her with a pillow). When Gonul was predicting Reyyan waiting around for Miran to come to her (as she did for a looong time), Reyyan said he'd only ever seen her as a cousin, very different from the feelings ReyMir have experienced.

I thoroughly enjoyed HAG putting one over on Yaren. Not all of Yaren's soliloquies in her bedroom about harming people work out. The novio is attractive and witty. Not a wart in sight. Much, much more than she deserves. I suppose they could be going for a Turkish Taming of the SHrew.

I was unclear about how Miran knew to follow those strings to the next memory. Kind of reminded me of taking one of those gadgets around a museum where you listen to an "expert" tell you about the art works. I usually find it a bit much and disconnect, preferring my own thoughts about paintings and sculpture.

Sultana knew where to hit Azat where it hurts, making him fear Reyyan would inevitably be harmed. She may be right, however. There have been hints that Azize wants her granddaughters safe in London when she goes total war.

I was struck by how ancient Sukran is in comparison to Azize. Was Dilsuh a just before menopause miracle? What they showed of the scene where Sukran pleads for her daughter and grandson made them seem more of an age.

herc

Hi all! Thanks for the great comments and adding the extra spice to our minicap.

dondi356, those spinsters batting their eyes at Azat and Nasuh made me laugh!

Juanita, I think Yaren might have met her match in Harun and she certainly did crossing paths with Azize!

Carmella, the Tibetan Loli tea comes from the last TN we covered here, it caused some funny hallucinations when the team went out for a teambuilding retreat. It is a carryover, like avocados and your catch phrase “cockroaches.” I also like the inner strength that Reyyan is demonstrating.

novelera, “Turkish Taming of the Shrew.” I love it!

Hercai
VVS, thank you for the recap . I recorded this episode , and I was glad I did . Wow, so nasty Yaren thought the guy and his posse of relatives was all a fake set up by Azz , but the whole thing was for realz.

When Sultana in her clever disguise of sunglasses and scarf met Azat to tell him to marry Elif, he actually said a very loud " UFF" or "WOOF" as she walked away . I had to rewind and listen again . the

That whole scavenger hunt down Memory Lane with flashbacks of happy days was sweet . How can Mir resist ? P.s. What is that white cloth on the ceiling of the cabin.

Hercai

Rey tells smarty pants Gonul " your 'dreams ' are my reality ." ouch
