Epi 80-Part 1

We start with the lovers outside of the love shack, happy to be in each other’s arms but sadly it’s just Miran thinking back to what could have been. The cold reality is he’s standing outside of the shack wishful thinking as he looks on to the snapshot of Reyan. His thoughts are interrupted by a phone call that he doesn’t take. He enters the shack but shortly after, Firat arrives there with Reyan.

He’s inside by the fire staring at the photo remembering recent conversations with Reyan … she enters. He turns and pretends not to want to see her, asking why she came...and she responds so “they can be together….she loves him and can’t breathe without him…asking if he’s not listening to his hear”. Surely he’s puzzled by this as he remembers the divorce papers. Finally he stands to face her and questions whether or not she’d listened to her heart of her father. What changed he asks, annoyed that it took her father’s word for her to believe him vs. trusting him. She pleads that she loves him so he questions why she ended thing. She tries to explain that she was conflicted and did consider that her father just didn’t see clearly that night but he corrects her that her father just outright lied. She admits she was wrong and she’s there for him now …but he is still angered that she didn’t trust him enough and took the word of her saintly father over trusting him. He assumes she came for her father’s sake but she insists she’s there for him.

She continues to try to reason with him but he’s not ready to hear. He ponders what happens the next time her father lies but she swears she’ll listen with her heart … she wants to fix things between them. He is not ready to move on …he takes a vase and throws it across the room smashing it to pieces….asking her if she could fix something so broken. She insists she’ll do whatever it takes to he takes her hands and recites a parable that ultimately illustrates their love was destroyed by her lack of trust. He drops her hands… opens the door for her to leave. She slowly walks out and we see Firat waiting. Inside, Miran sits against the door in agony ..thinking to himself that his so tired. Day fades to night and he’s still sitting on the floor…but finally rises to leave and we see that Reyan never left with Firat…she has been sitting outside on the step all this time.

He goes out and she looks up at him so he sits next to her asking why she didn’t leave. She gives him one of his own sayings “if there is not Miran, there’s no Reyan”…telling him he’s worth fighting for. He speaks, telling her he realizes he put her thru a lot and will have to pay for what he’s done…concluding that her reaction is just proof that they won’t work. He doesn’t want to spend his life fighting the past. She puts her arms around him saying she wants to be with him. Finally…he stands up and reaches for her hand and they drive off.

On the sad ride home she questions if they will move on as if they are strangers and he blames her for their state…saying it was her fault. She admits she was wrong…not for believing in her father but for the things she said to him, wishing she could go back in time. Miran is thinking to himself that she broke his heart and is only seeking forgiveness so that he gives up his vendetta against her dad. Meanwhile she’s thinking to herself that they will return to the Aslanbey mansion together and she will heal his wounds with her love….and he and her dad will make amends. As they drive on she becomes alarmed realizing he’s taking her to her home, not his mansion. He drives on without saying anything. She panics… and begs him to turn around but stupidly starts grabbing the steering while he’s still driving….WTH. He tries to stop her and luckily avoids an accident.

Epi 80-Part 2

He pulls up in front of her house ..she begs him not to leave her. She refuses to get out of the car but he tells her there’s nothing else he can do for them and asks her not to make it more difficult. When she doesn’t budge, he gets out and opens the door. She tries to convince him her place is with him but he begs to differ…her place is with her family. He then pulls out the divorce paper and signs it….saying if she didn’t mean to separate from him, she wouldn’t have sent him the divorce papers and there’s nothing stopping it now. She’s surprised asking him what divorce as he hands over the doc and walks away.

As she tries to stop him telling him she had nothing to do with the divorce doc he pulls off..leaving her crying in the rain. For some reason Azat comes out and they both watch him drive away. Azat comes asking why she insists in hurting herself…and just let Miran go. “Because I love him” she says so he presses on. “Do you really want to return to his house knowing Azzie wants you dead”? She basically tells “primo Azat” that death would be better than living without Miran leaving him with yet another clue that she would never turn to her cousin.

She finds her mother in the kitchen and accuses her of sending the divorce papers to Miran. Zehra is surprised, saying it wasn’t her. It wasn’t enough that her father lied to tear them apart but her mother sent the divorce doc to seal the deal. Zehra continues to protest that she didn’t have anything to do with it (well…she is the one who had the docs drawn up in the first place). Reyan goes to see her dad still recovering in bed, asking him why. Zehra followed behind and swears that she and her father didn’t send the docs to Miran. Hazar is surprised pondering who would do such a thing. Reyan asks her mother to leave her alone with her dad. Alone, Hazar swears that they had nothing to do with it. Reyan cries that everything is falling down around her because of his lie….asking why he did it. She doesn’t question his love for her mother but understands the depth of his love for Dilsah, comparing it to her love for Miran….asking how he could have done such a thing to her. He tears up as she goes on about how her life has been impacted by his lie and her faith in him is shattered. He’s sorry for lying but swears he and Zehra didn’t send the divorce papers. It appears that everyone around them wants to destroy their relationship with no consideration of how they feel. She can’t pretend to trust him ever again. Upon leaving, she finds that Zehra stayed outside the door listening.....so she tells them they need to stop the damaged they’ve caused before it’s too late.

Zehra goes to Hazar who wants to know if she sent the papers, of course she didn’t. She would never handle it that way…she’s not capable of doing that to Reyan (hum…not sure I buy that but…). They’re at wits ends trying to figure out who did it…Zehra has a clue. She thinks back to the night she saw Yaren sneaking around the house, presumably coming out of Reyan’s room.

Meanwhile, Yaren is in her room yapping it up with Sehri about the papers…and viewerville realizes it was indeed Yaren. Sehri wonders how Yaren was able to fake Reyan’s signature…saying it was brilliant. Yaren brags it was nothing and she is quite capable of handling anyone who hurts her…and dares the Sehri to betray her…hanging up. Talking to herself…the Sehri thinks they’re all wicked but it doesn’t matter to her as long as she gets her money. What she does get is a big slap across the face from Azzie who was apparently listening as she conspired with the enemy.

Epi 80-Part

Meanwhile Zehra comes into Yaren’s room and gives her wallop across the facing accusing her of sending the doc. Yaren feigns ignorance so Zehra grabs her around the neck telling her to leave her family alone or she will pay....throwing her to the bed before she leaves. Yaren appears to be shaken for real….not laughing this time…perhaps because she knows what Yasuf will do if he finds out about her latest betrayal.

Back in the Aslanbey kitchen, Azzie drags Sehri outside and throws her to the ground as the rest of the women, I mean roaches, come out looking on. Azzie lights into Esma saying she only took Sehriyar on because she was her relative but she’s a spy for the Sodoglus. Sehri pleads her case to Esma saying they forced her to do it as Esma looks on with disappointment. Azzie calls Mahmut to get Sehri out of the house spitting the customary threats if she ever sees her face again. Elif takes Esma away who is in tears. To herself, Azzie gloats at how Sehri did everything she wanted her..not needing her anymore….this was the perfect opportunity to get rid of her.

Back in her room, Reyan gets a call from Elif who begs her not to hang up but Reyan assures her she knows Elif is a good person. Elif is still guilt ridden for what she did to Hazar but Reyan says it was her own words to Miran that drove them apart. She asks Elif to do her a favor.

Miran arrives back to his empty room…remembering happy times with Reyan while their theme song plays. He fingers the blanket and finally takes it off the bed, sits on the floor and sniffs it for Reyan’s scent. We see the favor Reyan asks for Elif was to let her into the mansion. Elif sneaks her to Miran’s room where he has fallen asleep on the floor against the bed. She goes over and sits next to him saying how much she missed the way he looked at her….strokes his face. She won’t be able to handle it if he doesn’t look at her like he used to. She takes out a thorny rose and a letter and leaves it next to him. She leans in next to his face as if to kiss him and decides not to, leaving instead. When she closes the door he falls over in his sleep and catches himself placing his hand the rose, getting pricked by a thorn. He sees the letter and the rose, realizes she was there and runs to the roof looking for her.

The End.

Thanks very much, Nett, for this excellent recap of a frustrating episode. Miran was his usual stubborn self, rehashing all the old lines he's used in umpteen earlier episodes and not even mentioning the divorce papers until he'd brought Reyyan back to the Sadoglu konak. Arrgh! As for Reyyan, I almost had to look away as she kept stupidly grabbing the steering wheel as he was driving.

Though I usually hate it when Azize slaps people, I enjoyed her slapping smug Sehriyah, throwing her to the ground, and expelling her from the Aslanbey compound.

And I agree with your comment about Zehra's claiming she's not capable of doing something so nasty as forging Reyyan's signature on the divorce papers: "(hum…not sure I buy that but…)" Zehra did do one useful thing last night, slapping and choking Yaren after rightly accusing her of being the signature forger.

Now that Zehra has seen how much misery her insisting Hazar lie about Miran's pushing him has caused, I'm wondering whether she'll finally give Hazar the letter. She seemed again about to take it out of her pocket near the end of the episode. But we've seen that before.

Thank you, Nett. Good recap covering everything important.

I liked the scene of Reyyan scolding Zehra and Hazar. They had it coming. I felt that Reyyan hadn't done enough of it at the time she learned about the lie. And that she was wet coming from the rain added to her distressed look.

The lovers seem to like testing each other's resolve by rejecting and not letting the other explain. Hope they move past it soon and start supporting each other during difficult times to come.

"Yaren appears to be shaken for real….not laughing this time" - I think they just didn't give the camera enough time. I am sure she gleefully laughed shortly.
Yaren is bored. And she relieves her unbearable boredom by picking on Reyyan. There is no gain for Yaren in sending the divorce papers. Can't they find her something to occupy herself? Like get her a piano teacher, have her study Spanish, sign her up in a tennis club, anything. I guess getting her a groom (smelly, warty) or sending her to the country to tend the animals is something.

EXCELLENT RECAP NETT.

Thank you Nett for filling in and providing another great recap. I am grateful, as I am sure novelera is, especially after that heartbreaking win against her Giants last night. (Sorry novelera).

You covered everything so well and so concisely. I don’t have much to add to everyone else’s great comments. I do feel like we are building up to something big, or at least I hope we are. Nina, I am waiting for the good part too.

Lucio, like you, I was glad Reyyan let her Hazar and Zehra have it.

Juanita, it would seem like a good time for Zehra to come completely clean with Reyyan and give Hazar that letter and tell Reyyan Hazar is not her bio dad. Rey is already mad, so just pull off the band aide already!

Thanks again Nett!

Herc

Enjoyed your recap, Nett. Thanks so much for stepping in.

Miran yoksa, da Reyyan yok: LOL, Miran is tired? Miran keeps falling for the HAG’s lies and puts everyone through the wringer, but Reyyan believes her otherwise trustworthy dad once and that’s it. So did Miran sign those divorce papers for Reyyan’s good or for his? Maybe the car should have crashed. Saçma!

I enjoyed Turkish Lupe’s send off. But have we seen the last of her? Hope so. I felt sorry for Esma though, she’s running out of chances with Azize.

It’s always nice to see Yaren get a smack. And I, too, thought she would start to laugh when Zehra left her. I checked the Turkish ep to see, and she didn’t laugh. Maybe she’s thinking about the smelly, warty groom coming her way.

Reyyan’s talk with her parents was welcome. What will happen tonight to stop Zehra from showing the letter?

I’m waiting for the good part, too.

As we say in my neck of the woods: you was robbed, novelera!

Thanks a million for the terrific recap, Nett. Sorry to be so late to the party with my comments. The 15th is a big billing deadline for a lot of our clients so I've been hard at it all day.

And...no...I was not AWOL because of any wrist slashing over the Giants' loss. It was a bitter pill to swallow, but years of being a sports fan have trained me to get over it and move on. I still have the Golden State Warriors beginning their new season to look forward to. They've looked good in the pre-season games.

Well, yes, that was SO frustrating. Miran gets on my last nerve. He never just says what he should say. Instead he just keeps it up with the same old, same old. I thought he'd never show her those signed divorce papers! So..the papers now bear two signatures; but, unless the law is different in Turkey, they would still have to be filed in a court, wouldn't they?

And, yes, Zehra was the one who stubbornly tried to get her daughter to file for divorce. We saw Reyyan once with a pen hovering over the paper and not signing. There don't seem to be enough slaps in the world to deter Yaren from her sick need to hurt Reyyan.

And, thank you for explaining that Azize overheard Sehriyar talking with Yaren. I wasn't connecting the dots as to why Azize finally kicked her to the curb.

I don't have much faith that Hazar and/or Miran are going to see that letter anytime soon. There are still some episodes to go, and these writers usually put off the big reveal as long as possible.

Me three on Reyyan telling off her parents for all the blows to her relationship with the man she loves. An improvement over novelas written in Spanish is that we don't have to watch Reyyan run to the bathroom with morning sickness and/or get dizzy and almost fall down. There's been only one sex act, filmed very discreetly, and that was very early on.

When is Miran ever going to confront Azize? At the very minimum he needs to bring up the lie about Dilsuh being born and raised in Midyat.

Great recap Nett! and YAYYYYY!! I’ve FINALLY caught up with you guys! So many work and family commitments that I couldn’t catch my breath, and when I could partake in an episode it was so frustrating and redundant that I was getting mad at my TV! All of your wonderful recaps reiterated those hard to watch scenes for me too. But you guys kept the funny going fantastically, and I appreciate those recaps to infinity and beyond!

Miran needs a spanking and a good stiff backhand to the face to knock some sense into his present psychosis! All he does is wah, wah, wahhh, and it’s his “not” granny’s fault! All he keeps repeating is that he’s TIRED!?!? Well, I’m tired of you too Miran!! Re-adjust your man place and forge fast and strong ahead like bull in the PBR! Get the answers you need and stop the crying!!!! Such a turn-off!

I’m also sick of Reyyan saying “Miran” every 5 seconds! SLAP HIM! Then kiss him while he’s still in shock!

As for the weaklings Zehra and Hazar, UGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! But, yes, ITA that Reyyan telling off those two was long coming! Especially Zehra! That woman gives me a rash!

I’ve missed the “daily’s” with you all, and hoping I can keep up! I can’t believe TM is cutting this short, but Ive located a website that may possibly keep this going with English subtitles no less! Hopefully it pans out.....we’ll see.....

herc

Oh my goodness! It is great to see you back with us carmella! I knew you were out there! So glad you were able to get caught up and comment again. I have missed your snarky, funnies! “Re-adjust your man place and forge fast and strong ahead like bull in the PBR!” I love the PBR!

Zehra gives me rash too! I think most of us have found the YouTube options to keep watching if Telemundo doesn’t bring this back. I thought I heard something last night about the últimos capítulos of the first season. Hopefully we have a second season. As much as I have been annoyed with the repeats, I have really enjoyed sharing that annoyance with the patio.

Herc #81 part 1

Sweet—we get a replay of Sehriyar and Yaren “en el capítulo anterior”. There’s a slight rewind of Miran finding the note and the rose and running out to look for Reyyan.

Miran is on the roof and reads the note: “do you know what the hardest part is? You know. To be face to face with you. Nothing is hard when I’m by your side, Miran. Will you be by my side again? I know you won’t believe me if I say everything will be beautiful, but I want to be with you even when things get tough.”

Miran has spent the rest of the night on the roof looking at that note. He repeats Reyyan’s words, “I want to be with you…even when things get tough.” He is so deep in thought that he doesn’t see Gonul appear, wrapped in a blanket, with something hot for them to drink. [How did she know where he was?] Gonul thinks to herself, if none of this happened, it would be you and I wrapped in blankets under this sky. She sighs and approaches Miran.

Gonul offers him the cup but he turns it down. Gonul says, it hurts a lot, doesn’t it? Miran doesn’t answer. I know, Gonul says, it hurts to be far away from the one you love. Reyyan’s probably hurting, too. [hmmm…] I’m sure she deeply regrets what she did. You should hear her out. Don’t end things like this. Miran responds, she refused to believe me, Gonul. She didn’t believe me until her father told her the truth.

You’re right, Gonul says, it’s hard to accept something like that. We know what kind of man her father is. [you don’t know, but we know] Miran says Reyyan doesn’t know, and she didn’t believe me. Gonul tells Miran that Reyyan should have known he is incapable of something like this. Can it really be true love if you don’t believe the person you claim to love? But we are human, Gonul says, we make mistakes, and we learn from them. [We’re waiting for that moment] Go talk to her, Gonul urges, at least let her explain what happened. She has that right.

Silence from Miran. Gonul says it’s very cold and she goes to share her blanket with Miran. He backs away and tells her, you’re right, it’s cold. I’m going to my room. Don’t stay out here long or you’ll get sick. He leaves her. She gets sad.

Miran goes to his room and takes a big ol’ sniff of the blanket he used at night. [these Turks must have an incredible sense of smell] I’m without you Reyyan… and I’m not doing very well, he whines. Then Mr. Mopey sits in the chair Rey always sleeps in and sighs. Then he gets up and sits on the floor by the bed.

Elif knocks on his door, may I come in? I’m worried about you two, she says. Did you get to talk to Reyyan, she asks? Did you reconcile? She came to see me last night and left a rose and a note, Miran replies. Then he asks, did you have anything to do with that? Elif’s guilty look gives her away. Miran says it’s too late. Understand? It’s over between Reyyan and me.

Elif asks why. It was all my fault and Hazar Bey admitted it. How can it be over with Reyyan? Elif tells him to get up, go get Reyyan and bring her back. Miran asserts, I told you it’s over, Elif. It’s over. Not another word about Reyyan. Elif turns to go but Miran calls her back. Promise me something, he says. Since we are cousins, from now on whatever happens, no matter how hard it is, you come to me first. I don’t want you keeping any secrets from me. Elif nods yes and goes.

Miran’s private pity party continues. He takes out the pics of his mom and Reyyan. He unfolds Rey’s note. Is that true, he asks Rey’s picture, do you want to be with me even when things get tough? I know your soul is burning with pain, but you once reminded me that there is nothing like a mother. He looks at Dilsah’s picture and kisses it.

Herc #81 part 2

Reyyan enters Hazar’s room. Zehra is there, too. She announces, I’m leaving, dad. I’m going to be with Miran. If there’s still a place for me in his heart and home, that’s where I’ll go. I’ll grow old in that mansion. Hazar tells her to go. Let nothing stop you, my mind and heart are with you, he says. I’ll wait for the day that you forgive me.

Reyyan answers, no matter if I’m offended, you’ll always be my mother and father. You’re my heart and soul. Love and take care of each other. Take care of my sister. And don’t try to bring me back. I’ll be in the place I belong. Zehra takes the letter out of her pocket and approaches Reyyan.

Mom, leave me alone, Reyyan says. Don’t say anything to try and stop me. I’m sick of this hate and anger. I’m tired of paying for the sins of the past. All I care about is Miran’s forgiveness and being happy with him. She entrusts her parents to Allah.

Zehra gives Rey a hug. We see she’s holding that letter. Rey moves her mother away. Don’t follow me, Rey says. The letter goes back into Zehra’s pocket as Reyyan leaves the room Zehra leans on Hazar’s shoulder and says, she’s still our daughter, she’s still our angel. A determined Reyyan sets off to find Miran.

Miran has arrived at Dilsah’s house. He knocks at the door and the old woman answers. I don’t have anywhere to go but to my mother’s house, he says in a quivering voice. The woman welcomes him in. They head to Dilsah’s room. She asks if he’s hungry and he says he’s tired. The woman tells him to lie down and sleep. Miran sits on the bed and looks at his mother’s pic on the wall. I’m so tired, he says, so tired, mom. He sighs, grabs a pillow, and puts his head down.

Reyyan takes a shared taxi to Dilsah’s village. You’re here, Miran, she tells herself, I know you’re here. Cut to Reyyan sitting on the bed next to sleeping Miran. She reaches out but doesn’t touch him. He wakes anyway. Reyyan? When did you get here? How did you know I was here? I’ve been looking for you everywhere, she replies. Something told me you would be with your mom. Why didn’t you stay home, Miran asks? (The old woman is listening outside the room.) I told you that my home is wherever you are, she answers. No, Reyyan, he tells her. If that was so, we wouldn’t have experienced this. If it was like you say, you would have still taken my hand. No, your home is not where I am.

Why do you say that, Reyyan asks? Knowing I came for you, traveling a long distance, why are you saying that? Is this easy for you? Is that what you think, Miran responds. You think it’s easy to stand before the woman I love and say this? You think it’s easy to be away from you while my heart still beats only for you? You did this, Reyyan. The day you signed those divorce papers. Now I will ask if that’s easy for you, huh? Miran starts shouting, you’re ending everything and giving up on us forever!

Reyyan shouts back, I told you I didn’t sign them or mail them or anything! Why don’t you listen? I swear I didn’t sign them! Miran storms out of the house. Rey follows and so does the woman. Rey takes the divorce petition out and repeats, I didn’t sign the papers. She adds, but you did it, looking me right in the eyes. I know it was because you were hurt. But what we have can’t be undone by a paper. This means nothing for us. Whether or not you signed it, I won’t stop. Because I am Reyyan Aslanbey! She tears the paper and tosses it to the ground.

Miran walks away and the woman calls out to him, Miran….you are not Dilsah’s son. The woman walks towards him saying, you couldn’t be. Because if you were… you wouldn’t be cruel enough to leave the woman you love without looking back. Miran answers, I didn’t leave her without looking back. What are you doing now, the woman asks?

dondi356

Herc #81 part 3

Miran gets angry. You don’t know everything we’ve been through! The woman admits that is true and adds, but Reyyan knows. This girl, despite knowing, loves you so much that she came here to find you. Don’t go, son, the woman pleads. Whatever is making you run, this girl is fighting against it. If you were really Dilsah’s son, you’d know there’s nothing more cherished in life than love and you would know how to love. Instead of giving up and running, you’d do whatever you could to prevent a single tear of hers. No, you are not who you claim.

Miran fires back, how do you know who I am? You think you know me well just because you know a little about my mother? How do I know you really knew my mother? I’m supposed to believe you because you have pictures and a notebook? Are you for real? Maybe you are an invention of whoever sent us here, an impostor!

The woman asserts, I am neither a liar nor an impostor! And the things inside the house are real. Because I know it, she says putting her hand over her heart. Because I lived it here. Because I am… I am you grandmother, and you are my grandson. [WOW!] Those words echo in Miran’s head. Rey’s eyes widen.

Miran is barely keeping it together. He asks, are you aware of what you are saying? The woman [can I call her Sukran now?] answers, I am aware of everything. Miran explodes, who are you?! You’re not real! You can’t be my grandmother! She died, Miran shouts.

Reyyan rushes over to calm him but it’s no use. I don’t know who you are, but you’re not my grandmother! Yes, I am, Sukran faintly says. Miran shouts, no! Because if you were, you wouldn’t have abandoned me! [Ay, Miran, Sukran already explained that HAG banished her.] Sukran cries. Miran rages, if you were my grandmother, you wouldn’t have buried your daughter or abandoned your grandson!

Miran runs off to his car and Sukran tells Reyyan to go after him. Reyyan apologizes to Sukran, I didn’t think this would happen. Sukran says, go, don’t leave him alone. When his mind accepts the truth, his heart will bring him back. Run! Reyyan manages to hop in the car before Miran drives off. Sukran says, my poor boy. I know he will be back because Miran is like his mother, he has a big heart. She lifts her hands in prayer, I entrust you to Allah, my son.

As they drive, Reyyan asks, are you alright? Please say something, you’re scaring me. Miran stops the car and gets out. Rey follows him. He tells her, I don’t know which road the past is leading me down. I don’t know how I will discover the truth. I don’t understand what’s happening!

Miran has another meltdown. I can’t take it anymore! I can’t! Everything I’ve heard and been through… it can’t be real! It’s too much! I can’t take it anymore! [me too!] Reyyan calls out to him as he heads out into the field ranting. That woman is lying! Rey catches up to him and puts her hands on his face. Look me in the eyes, she tells him. Stop hurting yourself, talk to me.

He asks, what do you want me to talk about, Reyyan? You could never understand, he says. You know who you are. You know your mother and father and grandfather and your family’s story. [not really, but…] But I know absolutely nothing about my past [except for HAG’s lies]. How could you understand how it feels? Then try to explain, Reyyan tells him.

dondi356

Herc #81 part 4

Ok, Miran starts, this town is my mother’s. That house and the furniture… and the notebook, especially the notebook… were all a part of my mother. That’s true. A stranger, a person I’ve never met in my life, told me all about my past and I believed every word she said. I felt my mother’s presence here (hand on his heart), almost as if I could see her. I saw my mother. I even heard her voice and smelled her scent. That hurt me. I cried at the thought I found her too late. But I can’t even tell if these things are real or not. Miran goes on about the woman… is she real? Is she his grannie? His mother’s mother? Or is she another game from the note master? What is my truth, he asks?

Reyyan says, if you want to find the truth, you have to believe it first. You can’t discover your past by always denying it. Why is this happening, he asks? Then he starts shouting again, why is this happening?! What’s going on?! Whose life have I been living? [HAG’s life of revenge] I’m having a hard time dealing with this, he tells Reyyan. [it’s hard to keep listening to you, Miran]

Miran continues, I feel like someone’s holding me upside down and shaking me! The more they shake, pieces of me I never knew fall off! Each piece is a mystery unto itself! They say, “Miran, this is your life.” But everyone tells me a different story! Everyone wants to take me down a different path! And they even used you to accomplish that! Maybe they are even using my grandmother and deceiving her! [gag!] More shouting, and Miran falls to his knees. [all I can say is thank goodness for a commercial!]

Reyyan runs over to the blubbering Miran. Shout at the mountains and rocks if you want, she says, go down every path and deny the truth. Would that close the wound in your heart? He shakes his head no. She takes his hand and kisses it. When your mind accepts it, what you have here (she places his hand on his heart), will lead you to the truth. She hugs him. What ever path you take, she tells him, I’ll always be here. First decide what path to take. Reyyan, I’m lost, he cries, I don’t know what to do.

Sukran enters Dilsah’s room and sits on her bed. She looks at her daughter’s pic and replays Miran’s words, “if you were, you wouldn’t have abandoned me. You wouldn’t have buried your daughter or abandoned your grandson!” Sukran tells the picture, I never wanted to leave him. You know that’s so. I left my heart and mind back there for a long and tortuous 27 years. I was going to tell him the truth as he got to know me and accepted me more. Then he would have understood. But I couldn’t resist helping that girl who loves him so much. She takes care of him just like you did. He lived without me all these years and he will again. But he can’t live without those eyes that look at him like you once did. I know he will be back.

Azize is in her room and tries calling Miran. Where are you? Answer. She worries, I hope you haven’t done what I’m thinking. That’s a dead end. There is no other path besides the one I showed you. Esma brings her coffee. Azize says, when we decided to carry out this revenge, we knew well that we’d end up ruining certain lives, isn’t that right Esma? We were aware of the consequences. Esma stays silent. Azize tells her to gather everyone for an announcement.

The Aslanbey roaches assemble in the yard. Azize starts, Elif, Gonul, Esma… pack your things. You’re leaving. Cries of objection all around: What?! I thought we discussed that? Señora? I’m not going anywhere! Azize ignores it all and continues, I have a house ready for you. I’ll send bodyguards for your protection. Firat comes outside. Azize continues, Elif, you’re going back to school, the director knows. Gonul, you are going to go everywhere with her. Esma will take care of my granddaughters. They are still young and need someone older. Esma mentions Firat. What about him, Azize asks?

dondi356

Herc #81 part 5

Firat approaches Azize. We already talked about this. I told you what I thought, and I’ll say it again. I don’t consent to my mother being sent far away. Why are you insisting on this, he asks? Azize mocks, the kitten is showing his claws because he feels threatened. Just because I called you a member of the family doesn’t give you the right to question my decisions. Know your place, she reminds him. Firat stays firm, my mother isn’t going anywhere, Sra. Azize. And with that, he walks away. Azize and Esma call after him, but he keeps going.

The Sadoglus are at the dinner table. (No Reyyan and happily, no Yaren.) Nasuh comments, we have much to be thankful for. After so much misfortune, Allah has brought the whole family to the same table once more. [not so fast, Gramps] Not everyone at the table looks happy as Nasuh continues, from now on, we won’t let anyone disturb our calm. May no one be missing from our table. There’s inshallahs and Nasuh, pronounces afiyet olsun!

It’s then he realizes that Reyyan is missing. He asks Zehra about it. Gul blurts out, my sister went with Miran. Nasuh asks for clarification. Hazar says that Gul is just telling the truth. Azat says, isn’t it obvious what’s happened. She didn’t leave because she wanted to. We threw her out. We didn’t protect her. Gul interjects, my sister stayed away from Miran to protect my dad, but now dad is better. Zehra signals for Melike to take Gul from the table.

Hazar speaks up, after everything we’ve put her through, how could we object to her decision, dad? Nasuh calmly responds, after all Reyyan has suffered, [at his own hands, I’ll add] we will find a way to convince her. He tells Hazar, from now on, the anguish your daughter felt in this house is in the past. We won’t let anyone hurt her. I swear I won’t let anything or anyone hurt Reyyan. No one looks happy. Nasuh adds, we will get her out of that mansion. We can’t leave her with the enemies.

Cihan agrees with Nasuh. They need to get Reyyan. Hazar doesn’t agree. There’s no turning back he says. Reyyan left her family. Even if her pain subsides, she’s never coming back here. She’s never leaving Miran. Azat says Hazar is right, there’s nothing we can do. Reyyan is never coming back.

Nasuh admits that Miran had made several sacrifices for Reyyan but he still insists on killing Hazar. Nasuh asks his son, are his kind deeds enough to make you forget his threats? When the time comes, he will hurt you and Reyyan. He even donated blood so he could get revenge with his own hands. This gets a big “what?!” from Zehra. Hazar asks, what did you say? Miran donated blood? Why didn’t you tell me something so important, Hazar asks? Cihan? Azat? Why did you keep this from me? If I had known earlier, he laments, maybe… Azat interrupts, what would have changed? We just found out. What would you have done differently?

Nasuh says, Miran donating his blood changes nothing. Hazar says that’s not the point. I’m sitting here talking and breathing, thanks to Miran. While that poor boy gave blood to the man he swore to kill, I killed those I swore to protect! Zehra asks her husband to calm down. Hazar says he doesn’t want to hear more and there’s nothing left to say. I committed a huge sin, dad. Nothing can fix it.

Hazar is devastated and says, I’m going to ask you something and please be honest. He looks around the table, is there anything else you’ve been hiding from me? Everyone looks around, then Zehra speaks up, yes, there is something…

And we are out!

I heard the announcer say, “the final week of the first season.” Yay! I hope we don’t have to wait too long.

Herc

Thx Dondi....another stellar recap. I too her the announcement of eluding to season end as oppose to the show's end. Whew. I watch this on fire stick and can't watch ahead because I'm not able to get the english subtitles you guys mention....so I'm happy to wait for the next seaons.

Uhmm...is Gonul trying a reverse mind trick on Miran...pretending she thinks he should talk to Reyan...with the hope it all explodes again?

Miran's meltdown was understandable. While he's bull headed and doesn't shine to listening to others...I can see his confusion. His life and world has depended on his granny and all the lies she's fed him. He's now starting to see that not everything she's fed him is true....and he's tortured and torn by this. What is he to do...what is he to believe. Once he calms down....hopefully he can make a plan to keep peeling back the layers of lies he's been told so he can face down granny once and for all.

So Sukran is his granny...and not a family friend. I can see why she didn't reveal the truth during their 1st meeting. After all...Azzie threatened her terribly during their last meeting so long ago. If Miran has any doubts...DNA test. Or allow her to confront Azzie if that's not too dangerous of a mission. She's so old I'd hate for Azzie to torture her with more threats at her age.

Kudos for Reyan for hanging in there showing her support and love. Hopefully they wont' have another petty parting so they can solve this mystery together.

Zehra is so annoying. She should have revealed that letter to Reyan and Hazar before Reyan left. .... and discussed the truth about Reyan's adoption and Miran's true parentage. Delaying this only givens Reyan another reason to be pissed at them later...when she finds out.

And Firat does have avocados...glad he told Azzie his mom aint going anywhere. What happens if she starts threatening him....he has POA over everything...so she's got to tread carefully. But he knows how dangerous she can be....but he didn't seem scared.

Spectacular recap with so many great asides dondi356! Mr. Mopey describes Miran completely. Mr. Meltdown might be another. This actor definitely has a on and off switch for the tears and hysterics, it is exhausting to watch. Yes, thank goodness for commercials!

Gonul is pathetic. She was trying to recreate the blanket, sunrise, cuddling she witnessed with ReyMir. Glad Miran has her number.

“The woman [can I call her Sukran now?]” Yes! Sukran is Dilsah’s mom! That was a surprise for sure. I am so glad. Miran needs an older positive force in his life. I just hope he manages to believe in her. “Whose life have I been living? [HAG’s life of revenge]” When will the deprogramming of Miran begin? I hope Nana Sukran can help. I am surprised HAG has let her live.

Nasuh must have memory issues. His 180 on Reyyan has my head spinning. I had totally forgotten that Hazar and Zehra didn’t know about the blood donation from Miran. Is it too much to hope that Zehra pulls out that letter in response to Hazar’s “what else are you hiding from me?” question? I guess that is TN Nirvana thinking. 😊 I am sure Zehra will tell him about Yaren, or at least I hope so.

I was happy to hear the announcement for a second season dondi356! Yay! Now we just have to see how long that will be and whether or not I can keep myself from watching ahead!

Terrific recap! Thank you!

Hercai

Dondi, thank you so much for every detail as the suffering continues .

Well, Miran is still sniffing blankets and sleeping on the floor even though he is now alone in the bedroom . QTH????

OT..I finished KPA last night . wow....just wow . lots of twists and turns in that last season and finale . Now, I must find a new Engin dizi. He is remarkable .

OMG dondi356! Excellent recap! You’ve described Miran on so many levels, but “Mr Mopey” has to be my favorite, lol! Mr. Miran Mopey———has a nice ring to it! I was checking out Gonul, and wasn’t quite sure if she was truly trying to be sympathetic, or just ingratiate herself to gain some points with Miran? It’s hard to tell with her since they’re all byproducts of HAG. Evil Azize has taught these people how to think and act, and I’m sure they don’t consciously even realize it——-except for Elif. Elif does not want to be like Azize in any way, shape or form and expresses it quite often now. It’s so funny, as you pointed out, how Gonul nor Miran “know” Hazar, even though they think they do. If they could spend just one day as flies on the wall and observe Hazar in action, they would see an Uber sensitive marshmallow of a man. Yeah, Hazar gets spunky occasionally, but other than that, he gives new meaning to the concept “doormat.” Can’t fault the man for loving his family, but Hazar and Miran are definitely crybabies cut from the same cloth.

I’m not feeling this new Nasuh, who all of a sudden “loves” Reyyan either. His hate and clear distaste for her ran too deep——to the point of wanting her dead and now he’s grandfather of the year???? I don’t think so!!! I’m enjoying him and everybody giving Yaren hell though, lol.
That spawn of darkness deserves it even though I truly think that she is mental. She has no life or interests except to do harm to others——- and to those she supposedly cares about, except Reyyan, no less!

I suspected that the old woman was truly Miran’s “real” grandmother, and she should’ve smacked him too, and told him to show some respect! Miran gets on his high horse and starts talking to people any way that he wants to. Sorry you’re confused and half crazy son, but watch your words, tone, who the hell you’re talking to!

Finally, yayyyyyy Firat!

Thanks again dondi356, and I hope they don’t make us wait too long for part II either!

Hercai

BTW——- the “Aslanbey” ROACHES!!! Whahahahahaha!!!

herc

Many thanks, dondi356, for another superlative recap! I confess that much of the episode left me cold. If we hadn't seen Miran yelling, screaming, moaning, etc. so many times in past episodes, I'd have probably felt more sympathetic to his distress in this one, but ¡ya basta, Miran!.

One statement in the episode stood out for me: Hazar's "While that poor boy gave blood to the man he swore to kill, I killed those I swore to protect!" What is he referring to when he says he killed those he swore to protect?? Is it possible that somehow he accidentally killed Dilsah???

I too heard that we are coming to the end of "season one." I'm not sure how I feel about that. I've enjoyed Hercai, but I'm not sure I'm eager for another season of over-the-top yelling, screaming, and moaning. Perhaps I'll be more ready for it after a break. Then again, if Telemundo leaves almost everything unresolved next Monday, I may be too disappointed to consider watching a second season.

herc

Carmella, welcome back! I've missed your great comments.

Herc
Thanks so much Juanita! I have to say that Im totally with you on the "over the top stuff!" it grates the nerves, and induces " I need a break" syndrome. Still, I want to see Azize as the long lost love of Nasuh's and why all this revenge was necessary in the first place. we know Reymir will be together, but what of Elif, Azat, Gonul, Firat etc? Hey! what happened to puppy eyes??? Also, I would like to know, too, what Hazar meant by that statement. Good question Juanita....

I love the PBR too, VVS, lol

Herc

Thanks, everyone.

And welcome back Carmella! I missed your snark. LOL—” Re-adjust your man place and forge fast and strong ahead like bull in the PBR!” “Cockroaches” have become part of the Hercai vocab.

Nett, I wondered if Gonul was trying “reverse” psychology on Miran, too. Carmella, you’re on track with “It’s hard to tell with her since they’re all byproducts of HAG. Evil Azize has taught these people how to think and act, and I’m sure they don’t consciously even realize it.” Since Elif has spent a lot of time abroad, she’s not as indoctrinated. Anyway, give up Gonul, it’s just not going to work with Miran.

Firat showed his avocados, Nett. But wait for Azize to figure out how to make guacamole. Maybe Firat will consider Gonul’s proposal.

I certainly understand why Miran is a tortured soul, but I don’t understand why the writers and director insist on making him have such unwatchable meltdowns in almost every episode! BTW, they sound worse in the original Turkish.

Miran’s level of disrespect to Sukran was a big shock to me. I don’t see that often. ITA, Carmella, he should have been slapped!

Juanita, I looked at the Turkish ep afterwards and Hazar said, “the man [Miran] said I’ll kill you, but he gave me life. I killed him with what I said! [meaning the lie]” Telemundo had a bad translation or maybe I just heard it wrong.

VVS, I like Mr. Meltdown. Can we use that? I’m afraid Zehra’s answer to Hazar’s question will be a big nothing. I hope I’m wrong. ITA, Nasuh’s 180 is a head spinner. And it will be hard not to watch ahead.

dondi356

OT Susanlynn KPA

*This is spoilerish so don’t read if you are watching or plan to watch this dizi!*

Fans were divided on the ending. So much for unconditional love. The Signorina gets hers, but the Komiser gets a bookstore instead. I think those last moments were supposed to mitigate Omer’s ending and keep things open. A mini-series continuation would be nice, maybe like a Turkish version of “The Thin Man”.

BTW, Netflix cheated us out of the complete closing credits. Here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZcUR7_s9_Ok&list=FLwDKm95dpPvX0gSgE5cxHwA&index=8

I loved this dizi and I love Engin Akyürek. I can give you a run down of his other work if you like.

dondi356

herc

dondi356: "But wait for Azize to figure out how to make guacamole." Too funny!

Mr. Mopey and Mr. Meltdown are perfect ways for us to id Miran moving forward. Oh and I totally agree, the Mr. Meltdown meltdowns are very much over the top in the Turkish version. I keep thinking about Susanlynn’ s research that the Turkish actors don’t have a union and sometimes work 12 hours a day! Those emotional scenes must have taken the mickey out of Mopey.

carmella, what did happen to puppy eyes, aka Caner? Maybe he went back to complete his military service? I also miss Reza.

herc

Thanks very much dondi356, for going to the Turkish episode to try to resolve this. I think Telemundo may have made a bad translation from the Turkish. What you reported in your recap is pretty much what I think I heard Hazar say in Spanish, something like maté la vida que juré proteger. Perhaps that fit better with the lip movements for what was actually said in Turkish? I'm somewhat relieved that it was a bad translation rather than a possible admission that Hazar had literally killed someone he had sworn to protect. Given how deeply troubled Hazar is about the past, what the bad translation claims he said didn't seem impossible.

OT...Dear Dondi, I would appreciate any information about Engin's other shows. Perhaps I can find them on YouTube . He is my new telenovio, probably because he reminds me of my husband in both looks and personality. Same smile that makes the eyes sparkle and smile, too.

I thought that in the last season of KPA, the writers went a little crazy , and I had to suspend my disbelief to new heights . Two of my favorite characters in the show were Arda and Pelin. I liked hearing her say his name . This show ranks #2 for me.

Was Omer's family with him at the finale ? I did like seeing that walk straight toward the camera at the very end . I thought "oh perhaps the story will continue on. "

My fav show so far is Fatmagul. I loved the Kerim character and the story of a loving fami!y in that show . I think that Engin is most attractive with long hair. I loved seeing the everyday life they lived and observing tbe Turkish culture and traditions , the houses and other buildings, the scenery , the food . I loved hearing the door bells that sounded like chirping birds. I have taught people from all over the world and enjoy learning about different lifestyles and beliefs.

HERCAI

DONDI, A MASTER PIECE OF A RECAP.
orange does have an dilemma. He has been lied to for 27+ year.
I noticed something that old raccoon eyed heffa. When she feels like she loosing her grip on miran, she reaches back and pulls out that horrible story of how she lost her beloved son
And daughter inlaw at the hands of that evil hazar sadoglu. And
The crock tears start and he just melts into it. She really cant stand miran, she hates him
Yeah the big thing is coming I think. And it gonna he Big. Ot has to be to knock this heffa off her rusty throne of lies. She has single handedly managed
To destroy an entire generation
Of her family and the Aslan by.
And the old man masuh knows all
About it and wont lift a finger to put a stop to it. And uncle
What's his name knows to but it ain't his place to say. Maybe in a weeks time we)viewerville)
And miran will finally get the truth. And then we womt have to
Hear him screech like an owl &
Hear reyrey go miran, miran and
Again miran, lol Haha over and over again.

And another thing, whoever said zehra would do something like forge a signature on devorce, but she would talk her hubby in
Lying about who pushed him down the steps and ruin his daughter reyyan's marriage because every
One know ms zehra is such an upstanding citizen. When her and Reyyan hugged I kept saying
Slip it(letter) in her pocket.
But no the lie continues. I was
So glad she told them off. Glad
She is sticking with her hubby too. And she ain't backing down
From that blackeyed ratcoon assy.

Thank you DONDI.

herc

All the superlatives for your terrific recap have already been posted, dondi, so I'm at a loss for more adjectives. You did another fantastic job on this one, and I feel for you having to recap all the red-faced yelling and whining by Miran. I can't take much more. Reyyan has prostrated herself apologizing for believing her father, and he can't seem to meet her halfway. Sometimes I'd like her to say: "Ok, jerk, my Primo Azat is always on my side! I'm outta here, and have a nice life."

I was also wondering what happened to that 24/7 tail HAG supposedly had on Miran. From the sound of her complaints, it doesn't seem she knows he's been to Dilsuh's village...twice!

Glad to see Firat standing up for his mother, again. I can't believe they are going to remove Gonul, Elif and Esma from the story at this point in the plot. Although, if there is to be another whole season, sounds like they could work in a time in London for them.

Hercai

Lol,I have no idea what the hell is going on with auto correct, why in the world did she want a name miran"Orange"? ,lol. I'm glad yall know who I'm talkin about.

HERCAI

WELL Novelera there is one thing I agree with him about &
Her to. They have a delimma of
Not believing each other. He don't want to believe ratcoon eyes granny has been lying to him for 27+ years and she didnt want to believe him about not pushing Daddy down the steps.
When they finally come together
They are gonna stay together forever cuz they got alot to fight for. Especially each other. I'm glad granny sakruh
I think that's her name, she's a sweet old lady, she adviced reyyan to stick with her hubby.
Hes worth fighting for. But stop the screaming, but I do understand why he screams. Lol.

Herc

Sorry didn’t have much time yesterday to follow up. Thanks, Nina and novelera.

VVS, “Those emotional scenes must have taken the mickey out of Mopey.” Apparently not enough.

Yes, what happened to Caner and Riza? Maybe this was addressed in the Turkish, but I missed it. IIRC, Caner liked Yaren so he’s probably better off wherever he his. I’m sorry that Riza is gone, too, it would have been nice to see him get together with Melike.

“I was also wondering what happened to that 24/7 tail HAG supposedly had on Miran.” Good question, novelera. I think Azize had some suspicions when she couldn’t contact Miran but that was it. I’ll be surprised if Elif, Gonul and Esma leave.

Nina, I love reading your comments, “ratcoon eyes granny” LOL. She carries on about losing three sons but you are on target here, “She has single handedly managed To destroy an entire generation Of her family.” Her grandkids need rescuing, fast!

dondi356

I hope the guy that play riza dont have covid, he was sweet

OT Susanlynn KPA

I was surprised that Omer’s family wasn’t there, but they had their hands full with the daycare, Huseyin, etc. Melike told Omer it was time to go find his own happiness and not to worry about them. She gave Omer a lot of good advice and encouragement. I'm sure Omer would never totally abandon his family, he isn’t that kind of guy. At least Arda and Pelin were there for Omer, and Asli was there for Elif.

dondi356

Telemundo

Thanks, deb, for the info. I never saw the original Pasión de Gavilanes. I know they are replaying it in the afternoon. Twenty years later, wow. Could it be good? I saw the Telemundo remake, Tierra de Reyes, and it wasn't bad. A lot of eye candy.

I’ve seen everything listed except otherwise noted. I don’t want to spoil anything for you but these are Turkish, so content may be upsetting.

Dizi: Ölene Kadar (Until Death) on YouTube with English subs. Revenge Drama https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsqTw9FwkhgS5_rYX9XPWZ0ddy47dVShY

His costar is Fahriye Evcen who is married to Burak Özçivit IRL. He plays Dağhan Soysür, a doctor who is framed for the murder of his girlfriend’s father. Unfortunately, it had low ratings, so it had an early cancellation. The storyline was scrapped, and it came to a hasty end at 13 Turkish episodes.

Movie: Çocuklar Sana Emanet (Children Are Entrusted to You) Mystery/Thriller On YouTube

Dizi: Bir Bulut Olsam (If I Were a Cloud) The site where I saw this is gone. This is a heavy drama set in the same region as Hercai. You will recognize some supporting actors. I will warn you, prepare for disturbing content. In his first lead role, Engin is the antagonist. Lots of fans think this is his greatest performance. Whether you end up loving, hating or pitying his Mustafa Bulut, he's an unforgettable character. The soundtrack for this is amazing! Quick wrap up at 29 Turkish eps.

Dizi: Karayılan The site where I saw this is gone. It’s about the fight to establish the Turkish Republic after the fall of the Ottomans. Engin had a supporting role as Nizipli Halim, a poor, illiterate freedom fighter, who became smitten with a refined Christian woman. This had an abrupt ending at 18 Turkish eps.

Dizi: Yabancı Damat (Foreign Groom) Comedy/Drama This was his first ever dizi. He had a supporting role as Kadir Sadıkoğlu from a family of baklava makers. I’ve only seen clips of this on YouTube because I can’t find it with English subs.

Other movies with lead roles. The sites where I saw these with English subs are gone.
