Fatmagul (Monday don't know what episode #)

Kerim 'kidnapping' Fatma...um no! You do not take the woman who thinks you raped her and force her to go on a boat ride with you!!! I get that he is upset and I am sympathetic to his position but no!!

That said, I think she was somewhat moved by his sincerity in taking responsibility anyway because he didn't stop it. It was a powerful scene with them both sharing some of what they are experiencing dealing with the trauma.

I keep thinking about how hard it would be to believe Kerim in that situation, not knowing for sure and probably never knowing. Even if you wanted to believe, the what if I am wrong and he did do it angle of that question would be tormenting I think.

I just still can't believe Muka and her comments it's beyond inappropriate. I just can't keep saying how horrible she is everyday.

Kerim getting caught with Fatma's flower would have been cute without Muka. His face and Mayrem's reaction were awesome. She knows her son she knows exactly what that meant but had the good sense to say nothing. And it was sweet how she brought it back to him.

Fatmagul getting caught in Kerim's room was a well done scene too you couldn't tell who was more shocked, him or her!

Fatmagul #11 (?)

Hi, Darcy , I agree . I couldn't believe when Kerim took off with Fatma in that boat . She is so furious at him and tries not to be in a room with him or look at him. However, Kerim is so filled with shame and guilt . I think he is trying to reassure her that she is safe with him and that she doesnt have to be afraid of him. He wants to talk to her away from the others , especially Muka, and he knows Fatma always runs away from him . Kerim is trying to do the right thing for Fatma, but he doesn't know what that is . She wants him to leave as do Minor and the ricos. Meryem wants him to stay . Kerim is being pushed by everyone .

What can you say about Muka? An awful human being who is evidently so bitter and miserable that she only feels better saying hurtful things to everyone in her orbit. She has zoned in on torturing Fatma out of pure , seething jealousy . She is like the wicked stepmother. Fatma is Cinderella, Snow White .

The writers are brilliant. Kerim keeping that bit of crocheted flower made by Fatma's hands tugs on the heart . It is so delicate and fragile like Fatma herself. Of course, Muka has to bulldoze everything and ruin that lovely sentiment . Meryem knows exactly what it means . Kerim cares for Fatma.

Fatmagül #10 (Monday)

Thanks to Darcy and Susanlynn for getting the convo started on #10. Other Monday highlights:

Erdo and Vural are released from jail. Munir got someone to take the rap for them.

Vural might have missed the deadline for registration at Cambridge, his father went to sort it out. Vural threatens his mom he will tell his father about her affair. Later he sort of “hooks up” with Asu. They don’t have sex, but he asks her to stay the night and repeatedly say “I forgive you”. Vural is in bad shape.

Kerim goes for his passport and comes face to face with Mustafa, who doesn’t recognize him. But Kerim recognizes him from the engagement party. Later, Kerim gets info on travelling out of the country. It’s not as easy as he thought.

We saw a bit more about Kerim and his parents. As Kerim looks over info about Australia he remembers his father left with bags packed early one morning and he saw his mother crying in bed.

Meryem and Fatma continue to bond. Meryem finds work with an herbalist and says she will teach Fatma. And she encourages Fatma to continue her studies and finish HS. Thank goodness for Meryem. She is the antidote to Mukaddes.

That was a bold move Kerim made, taking Fatma against her will out on Emre’s boat. Rahmi was the only one concerned. Both Meryem and Muka thought it was ok. Kerim said in the Turkish, I swear on what I hold most dear, my mother’s memory. Hey, at least no one went overboard. Fatma is curious about Kerim now even if she still can’t stand the sight of him.

Oh, that flower…

I'll try to get a mini cap of #11 up later today.

Thanks, Darcy, Susanlynn, and dondi356, for getting things started. I don't have much to add. I found the Spanish captions rather confusing in this episode. They started out identifying Vural as Buran. Then, suddenly, at about the halfway point, they switched to Vural. Similarly, they identified Emre as Yami.

Speaking of Emre/Yami, he got into trouble with Kerim when he tried to get to know him by asking some personal questions, including "How did you meet her?" referring to Fatmagül. Oops. Kerim abruptly gathers up his stuff and leaves.

Asu and her pimp (Sami?) are in a cafe. She tries to order, but the waiter (I think) tells her they should leave, the cafe doesn't want people like them, they don't fit the cafe's profile of desirable people. Asu makes a fuss, but finally she and Sami leave.

It looks as if Mustafa and Asu may wind up as a couple. She clearly cares for him. When her pimp (I assume) reminds her that she has to pay Riza in three days and so, tired or not, she needs to have another customer that night, she cries as she waits in the car. She eats one of the sweets that Mustafa gave her as a thank-you present and then she calls him. He sees that it's Asu calling but he doesn't answer. So is it obvious to both the waiter and Mustafa that Asu is a prostitute?

Also, a woman named Zeynep sees Vural/Buran in the cafe. They apparently were good friends, but she has been away for a couple of years, I think. They talk for a while and then Vural leaves. Zeynep goes after him, but only in time to see him get into the car with Asu and her pimp, who has flagged the troubled Vural as a customer for Asu.

And yes, thank goodness for Meryem. She provides just about the only bright spot in this so-far rather gloomy story. I was especially pleased at her strongly encouraging Fatmagül to continue her education.

fatmagul

Interesting comments today, all. I didn't think Kerim taking off in the boat with Fatma was a bad thing. He has been desperate to get her to believe him. It appears he now believes Vural that he didn't rape Fatma. But he tells her once again that he's guilty for not preventing what happened.

Ye Gods, I don't know how much more of Muka I can take. Her taking Fatma's carefully crafted things from the hope chest was just despicable. And they got into why Fatma left school. Muka needed a worker in the dairy who wouldn't be paid. Of course, I think she'd have pulled her out of school anyway. She probably couldn't bear Fatma being out from under her thumb all those hours in high school.

I had the impression that Zeynep and Vural were more than just friends. And that perhaps what interrupted the relationship was her opportunity to be in New York, perhaps studying. His scene with her was touching. He said something, can't remember the exact words, about having been completely changed.

Yes, they did get into the reality of Kerim not being able to just emigrate to the countries that interest him without a specific visa, such as a student one. And Meryem said that Kerim did finish school and, IIRC, while also training as a blacksmith.

Fatmagul

I don't think Kerim is wrong for wanting to take Fatma on the boat just for forcing her. I get his desperation and he doesn't have bad intentions but even with the best of intentions he lacks impulse control. Taking a woman who was recently gang raped on a boat ride forcefully is just wrong. He feels he needs to tell her the truth but what he needs shouldn't come at the expense of what she needs, which is to feel safe. It could have turned out a lot worse if Fatma had panicked even more.

Fatmagul

You get the feeling that Vural was a lost soul before this. He and Zeynap were Evidently a thing because she said that he couldn't make a commitment , and one of them said that he left her before she could leave him. I think the rape has now really sent him on a downward spiral .He got in the car with Sami and Asu to avoid Zeynap who was coming after him. He wanted Asu to spoon with him . Hey, I get it . We all need hugs . I hate that Vural seemed the only one of the three rotten ricos who truly liked Kerim , and yet he threw him under the bus ....and then had second thoughts . This guy is a loose cannon ...depressed and unpredictable .

fatmagul

Darcy, I think you're right in pointing out that Kerim's taking Fatmagül out on the boat against her will was not a sensitive way to treat a rape victim. We understand that now, here in the US, where the media have made a point of discussing these issues. But it wasn't that many years ago that such issues weren't discussed so openly, nor so sympathetically. My guess is that such discussions probably aren't so common in Turkey, and it's highly likely that Kerim had no exposure to such discussions.

I was surprised that you say Kerim lacks impulse control. Over and over again, people say annoying or untrue things to him, and he remains motionless and silent. That to me suggests that either he's brain damaged or he has above-average impulse control. I do not think he is brain damaged.

Fatmagul

Juanita, you make some excellent points! Especially about my looking at the situation through the eyes of US society and that Kerim may not have the exposure to know how to handle the situation.

You also have an interesting point about impulse control but I am not ready to change my mind about that yet. I think there's a distinction to be made between patience and impulse control. Kerim is most definitely a patient person maybe even too patient with some people (Muka) and he definitely shows incredible restraint at times, but then when he decides to act he just acts. Boom, then and there that second. That impromptu boat trip wasn't a well thought out plan for how to get Fatma to talk to him, it was an impulse and one he didn't think through at all. That to me is poor impulse control.

I have known many very laid back people whose buttons were not easily pushed at all but if you did manage to push the button watch out because it was act first ask questions later.... that's how I see Kerim, at least right now.

Famagul

Novelera , yes, we discover that Kerim is a Renaissance man ...an educated blacksmith . You have to admire how he can fix almost anything . Can he fix this awful situation that seems to be getting worse and worse?

Fatmagul

I think I am intrigued by Kerim because he reminds me of my husband in nature and looks. He took care Of everyone , my parents, his parents, our daughters , our granddaughters , and me, especially me. He was patient and gentle . He used to tell me, " Everybody wants me to make it happen for them" I can relate to how Kerim is trying to take care of everyone . I can't help but love Kerim because I loved someone who was so much like this character.

fatmagul

Darcy, I see what you mean about Kerim at times acting very quickly and perhaps without much thought. And perhaps that's what he did when he took Fatmagül out in the boat, seemingly on the spur of the moment. On the other hand, he had already tried several times to get her to listen to him, always without success. I think he saw a chance to get her to listen without being able to run away, and he took it. I guess what I'm saying is that in this case, even if he had had more impulse control and had had more time to think about it, he might still have acted the same way.

Fatmagul

Great comments, everyone!

Zeynep is Vural's ex girlfriend. Sami is Asu's pimp. And the translations/captioning suck.

I understand why Kerim is so desperate to get Fatma to understand but the boat thing was selfish and insensitive. I think Kerim tends to act on impulse at the very worst times.

Good point about US v Turkish society. It's part of what makes this so interesting.

I have to take a dinner break and I will finish my recap of today's show.

dondi356

Fatmagül #11 part 1

Vural arrives home to the news that he blew the Cambridge acceptance. His father rips into him. His mother tells him his ex, Zeynep has called.

Meryem’s potions sell quickly and the herbalist has orders for more. Fatma asks Meryem if she had the chance to get info for finishing HS. Of course she did. Meryem says she always keeps her promises. Fatma is happy. They keep it a secret from Muka.

Kerim meets with Munir about his trouble getting a visa to travel. Munir says he will help, then all Kerim will have to do is decide where he is going. Munir asks if Fatma knows he’s going and if she will cause a problem afterwards. Kerim says she knows and she won’t cause a problem.

In the Turkish, Munir mentions a Schengen visa. That’s the EU passport free zone. I think there are a couple of dozen countries covered. It’s only good for a period of time and then the person would have to apply for another visa in the country they are in.

Asu texts Mustafa. Are you abroad? He fibs, yes. She wants to see him when he returns. He thinks about it, then answers okay. Asu’s pimp asks who she is texting. She doesn’t tell. He asks about Vural. She says he was a strange guy, they did nothing and stayed in bed.

Leman asks Semsi for a divorce. She had been thinking about it for a while now. He says forget it.

Kerim arrives home and Fatma tells him I didn’t go into your room to look at your things or for curiosity. I just wanted to be sure you were leaving. He says he’s been to the consulate, he has a passport, he’s getting his visa and soon he will be gone. Kerim adds, Mustafa won’t be bothering you either. He’s going abroad. Munir took care of that. Kerim says he saw Mustafa at the passport office.

Cut: Leman calls Munir and tells him Semsi doesn’t want to divorce. He has no time for her now. Munir realizes he left Kerim’s passport and papers in his car. He sends someone to get them. Unfortunately, that someone hands them over to Mustafa to bring them up to Munir and what do you know, Mustafa peeks. He sees Kerim’s picture and full name and connects the dots.

Mustafa and Munir have a full-blown argument in the middle of the building. Munir fires Mustafa and wants the salary advance returned, too. Erdo watches. End of cut scene.

Fatma cries over Mustafa leaving. She tells her brother that everyone has found a way out as if I never existed. Everyone is moving on with their lives. After all that happened, all I wanted was to hold Mustafa’s hand, but he didn’t hold mine. He didn’t believe me. He ruined our future. In the Turkish she says, he is as guilty as the others. Meryem overhears. Fatma continues, she would like to tell him before he goes, [Turkish] “you left me in the middle of this fire, you threw me into this hell.”

Kerim gets a call from Erdo: Mustafa knows who you are. Erdo thinks he didn’t see the address, Munir got the papers in time. Kerim isn’t worried about himself, he’s worried for Fatmagül.

Ismail goes to collect from Mustafa. He sees the gun.

Muka does her usual bitching at Fatma and Rahmi finally shout at Muka. This sets off the witch and she goes out back and shouts for Kerim. She yells at him to take his wife. Fatma loses it and shouts, I’m not his wife, just as the landlady shows up. Uh, oh. Fatma locks herself in the bathroom and cries hysterically.

They try to get Fatma to open the door. Meryem gets Kerim because she is afraid Fatma will hurt herself. He tells her to open, or he will break down the door. He kicks it open and Fatma screams like she did that night. Meryem calms her and comfort her.

Muka gets a suitcase and tells Rahmi she’s leaving [I say, don’t let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya] Rahmi begs Muka not to go. He’s sorry. He cries. [I feel sick]

dondi356

Fatmagul #11 part 2

Mustafa goes to Munir to beg for his job back. Munir is such a great guy, he gives Mustafa another chance. His last chance.

Erdo finds some information that Resat is secretly setting up new companies with the intention of cutting him and Rifat out. Erdo thinks he can tell Perihan about Resat’s affair, but Rifat says she knows all about his cheating. Rifat warns his son not to mess with Resat or Selim for now because he has something planned.

Muka forces Rahmi to tell Fatma to obey Muka. And he starts say something to Meryem, but Muka steps in and says if we are all to live together, you must follow my rules. Anyone who is unhappy can go. Meryem smiles and says, no problem. Meryem asks Fatma to come outside with her. Muka is a bottomless pit of poison.

The landlady shares what she heard and saw with Ibrahim and Emre. Ibrahim will try to find out more about their tenants.

Meryem and Fatma stop for tea. Meryem tries to get Fatma to talk. She knows this is a great trauma for Fatma. To be part of this is a great shame for me, Meryem tells her. God knows how you feel. God knows your sadness. You can’t manage this alone, you need help. Meryem suggests seeing a doctor, a specialist in this situation. Fatma doesn’t think it will help. Meryem thinks it will only get worse.

Fatma ask Meryem if she is leaving with “him”. Meryem is surprised. He didn’t tell her he was leaving. Fatma says he has his passport. He’s going soon. Let him go, Fatma says, don’t stop him.

Kerim runs into Meryem and Fatma. He takes off and then runs into the landlords. There is an awkward exchange.

Looks like Resat has returned from a trip with another woman. His driver tells him Perihan has come along for the ride. Perihan says she came for an important reason, she wants to check her properties to see if they can make a beautiful gift to the new bride. [maybe to check out Resat’s new fling]

Mustafa’s captain is in town for a couple of days and wants to meet. Mustafa tells him about finding Kerim’s passport. The captain advises him to forget about revenge. Mustafa can’t stop thinking about this disgrace. He feels he must do something. He can’t forgive Fatma and Kerim. Fatma cheated and Kerim sent guys to beat him up. The convo goes back and forth like this.

Meryem brings Kerim something to eat and asks him if he is leaving. Where will you go? He doesn’t know. Ok then, go, Meryem says. She starts guilt tripping him. Kerim says he’s not doing the girl any good by staying. [Turkish] Go then, run from your responsibilities, Meryem tells him, maybe you will forget the injustice you committed, and the voice of your conscience won’t reach there. You ruined a life here and you will go build a new one for yourself.

Meryem tells Kerim she’s staying, she won’t leave Fatma alone. I’m not that heartless. She leaves and Kerim takes off. [I think she means what she says, but I also think she doesn’t want to lose Kerim, too. He’s all she’s got]

The Yasarans talk business over dinner. They talk about getting those lands for development. Munir thinks it will be easy now that everyone in the town hates Meryem. She was the biggest obstacle. Munir says he will buy the property without anyone knowing who bought it. Rifat pipes up and mentions maybe the new company that Resat created should buy it. Uh, oh.

Erdo plays video games with Vural at his house. Vural quits, Erdo wins and he goes to get money from Vural’s wallet. He sees Asu’s card. He’s pissed.

Kerim goes to Erol’s restaurant. Erol says it’s good he came because he wanted to speak with him. He was helping them on the request of his late friend Galip. He didn’t know anything about Kerim or his family. I gave Ibrahim your name, trusting Galip, he tells Kerim, but I am embarrassed. Kerim asks if they did something wrong.

dondi356

Fatmagul #11 part 3

Erol tells him Ibrahim has suspicions, there was something weird. So I looked into it, he says. He called Galip’s wife and heard the rumors. The landlady heard you fighting. Emre shows up and sits with them. Kerim says whatever they heard was slander. Erol says he doesn’t believe that Galip would send him someone bad. Kerim says he should believe that. Tell everyone that. He gets up and leaves.

Fatma has an upsetting dream: It starts with the memory of Mustafa making her dowry chest. Then she notices his hands are cut up and when she goes to him, it’s not Mustafa but Kerim. Fatma goes out back for air and sees Kerim sitting there. He’s crying, too. He leaves.

Mustafa drinks alone at the bar and imagines Fatma is sitting across from him. He hears the words she once told him, when I’m married, I’m going to have my own home, my own keys, my own door. I’ll have my own bed for the first time, etc. Mustafa shouts, liar! And throws the glass in the direction of some other patrons. The proprietor asks him to leave.

Next morning Fatma is missing. Muka thinks she might have spent the night with Kerim. Meryem knocks on his door to tell him Fatma is missing. [In case anyone wonders, Fatma is not there. Lol]

Fatma makes a call to Mustafa from a public phone. We see Mustafa has spent the night at Asu’s and it’s Asu who answers the phone while Mustafa is asleep. Fatma doesn’t identify herself and Asu says she’s a friend of Mustafa’s. Fatma is devastated and sits and cries.

Asu wakes Mustafa and tells him about the call. She tells him she thinks it was Fatmagül. He tries calling back. Fatma hears the phone and doesn’t answer. She walks away. Kerim finds her. He tells her everyone was worried, especially Rahmi. He asks her to come home. She walks far behind him.

Mustafa asks Asu how she knew it was Fatma. Asu sensed it from her voice. Shy, like a little girl. Mustafa can’t believe Fatma had the nerve to call him. Asu says if she realized it, she would have said she was a relative and not a friend. She hung up, she must have been sad. Mustafa blows up. How could she be sad? She cheated on me! Blah, blah, blah…

Kerim and Fatma return. Meryem takes Fatma inside to talk. We were worried. Where were you? Muka shows up and starts in with Fatma. Meryem chases Muka away. Meryem sees the phone card and asks if she called Mustafa. Kerim listens from the hallway.

Fatma says Mustafa isn’t suffering like her. He’s having fun. A woman answered his phone and said Mustafa is sleeping and that she was his friend. He slept with a woman. He has someone in his life. He didn’t believe me or have compassion for me. He forgot me. Kerim is affected and walks out.

And we are out.

dondi356

Fatmagul

Thank you Dondi for another fantastic recap! I am so in love with this show!

The look on Kerim's face when Fatma told him that she didn't go into his room for curiosity! He was so hopefully in that moment that she was protesting too much, and the quickly disappearing smile when she told him she only wanted to make sure she was leaving! So heartbreaking! So real

Then he breaks down that door when she locks herself inside in the loudest most violent way possible and doesn't realize until she totally freaks out that he made a mistake! This again was an excellently acted scene and an example of impulse control issues (in my opinion) there were lots of ways to open that door without literally kicking it down! Yeah, I get the suicide background and the trauma on his side, but he could have opened that door with a screwdriver or a credit card.

Meryem shines again! Her scenes with Fatma and her resolve to help Fatma no matter how she personally feels about the situation is gold! She says he is hard to even look her in the eyes yet she does it anyway everyday! That is so touching! Later she tells Kerim even if you abandon her I won't!!

I do understand Kerim in this, he believes he is doing what Fatma wants and needs, but Meryem is right this girl needs people who will stand with her whether she wants them to or not.

I learned quite a bit from your recap Dondi because I am already ignoring the Yeserans .. maybe I should care, lol.

It's nice to know that even in the midst of her own trauma Fatma recognizes Mustafa abandoned her. He is not an innocent victim, he is a grown man who turned his back on her because he cared more about himself than her!

And I agree 1000% Rahmi should have let Muka leave!! Imagine begging that woman to stay??? No, no leave, please! I will help you pack!!!

Fatmagul

Dondi, thank you for another excellent recap of this captivating tale. I am learning so much as I am now watching the story unfold from the beginning.

Meryem is seeing first hand that Fatma is not only dealing with the trauma of the rape but also that Fatma has lived with Muka's cruel abuse and put downs since she was a little girl and Rami married that witch. It is interesting that at first , Muka wanted Meryem to live with them to help them settle in Istanbul . However, now that Meryem has put herself as a shield for Fatmagul against Muka's nastiness , Muk wants her gone . I think she is jealous of Meryem because Fatma is starting to care for her and Kerim obviously loves Meryem. Meryem is the real hero of this tale. She has a golden heart and radiates love , pragmatism, and positivity . Rami is devoted to his sister , but he is afraid of losing Muka , so he sides with her when push comes to shove . Muka can't stand Meryem taking the sting out of every barb Muk throws at Fatmagul.

Muka is obsessed with Fatma sleeping with Kerim. She pushed right past Kerim to see if Fatma was in his bed. I think Muka would love a chance with Kerim .

Fatmagul

I don't think Muka knows the words " please" or " thank you ." If we were playing a game and taking a shot every time she said either word, we would all stay sober.Every sentence she utters is a command.

Fatmagul

No matter how many times I watch this...and know what's coming...I still can't stomach the scenes with Muka. She is such a vile heartless person who manipulates and bullies. It wasn't enough that she profited off of what happened to Fatma...she loves torturing Fatma with Kerim and what happened to her. Muka deserves endless hell for what she's done so far. I still hate Mukadas.

I'm working on a minicap but it won't be up until tonight. I feel like spoiling my own recap. This is a big episode.

dondi356

Fatmagul

Dondi, I am excited for your recap and for the episode! Can't wait to get off work so I can go home and watch!

Fatmagul

Can't wait ! A big , bubbling episode ! Stuff happens !

fatmagul

Thanks so much, dondi! I thought Telemundo were the World Champions of the snipping tool. Their work looks skillful in comparison with yesterday's episode shown by Uni-Less. I was scratching my head at Mustafa's having been fired out of the blue. I said to myself...self, don't worry dondi has got this!

I saw a fleeting expression of worry on Resat's face when Peri mentioned reviewing her "properties". Sounds like he could be financially cheating her as well as sexually.

Erdo just can't leave Vural alone. Everything he does just makes things worse. And why would it upset him to see Asu's card in Vural's wallet? Considering the macho relationship these 3 guys seem to have, you'd think he'd be pleased.

Yes, Susanlynn, Muka has a very strange obsession with Kerim and Fatma. When she barged into Kerim's shed, she was wearing such an evil smirk.

Sometimes these dizis make me think I'm losing it. When did Asu learn about Fatmagul so as to say it was she who called?

Darcy, I also am tempted to FF>> through the Yasaran scenes. Rifat, Peri, and Hilmiye are not SO bad, certainly not compared to Resat. But I don't much care about them. Please, writers, don't let them get hold of the land Meryem considers sacred land.

herc

Hercai: Amor y Venganza returns for Season 2 tonight! What devilish plot will Azize come up with next? Will Azat fall in love with Elif? Will we see new cast members: the babies of Handan and Zehra? Will Esma ever stand up to Azize?

Barack

Novelera...thanks for letting g us know hercai is on tonight. Do you know the time ?

Fatmagul

Noverlera, thank you for mentioning the cut scenes!! How crazy is it to cut the scene that shows Mustafa saw Kerim's picture!!! Um kind of centrally important to the plot. First they cut the scene where Fatma almost stabs Kerim and then this one?? Is this being edited by someone who knows nothing about the show and isn't even aware of the plot?

IIRC Mustafa told Asu all about Fatma the first night he got drunk at her place. I don't think it actually showed it but the next morning she made a comment about how he talked and talked and told her all about what brought him to Istanbul.

herc

Susanlynn, Hercai2 will be shown tonight and on subsequent week nights at 9PM Eastern Standard Time, replacing Parientes a la Fuerza, moved to the midnight hour.

Fatmagul

I agree with the commenters regarding the edits/cuts. This is the worse job I've ever seen. They are cutting scenes that are critical to the story line. If I hadn't already seen this one I would be so confused with the "random actions" as they appear when the cuts are untimely.

Fatmagül #12 part 1

Edit at the beginning: Mustafa can’t remember how he ended up at Asu’s. She tells him he was very drunk and then they drank some more and then he fell asleep. She calls him out on his lie that he was abroad. Anyway, she’s happy he came. That means she is the first person he thinks of when he’s in trouble. End of edit.

Mustafa tries to call Fatma back again. There is a random guy at the phone he picks it up. All Mustafa hears is beeping. Asu thinks it might be a public phone and says they can find the location. She says Sami can take care of it tomorrow. But tomorrow, Mustafa is leaving for work. He will return in 10 days. [he always looks so embarrassed when he’s around Asu]

Meltem and the moms return from their Paris shopping trip with a wedding dress.
Rifat goes to Resat’s office and is told Resat is occupied and does not want to be disturbed. Erdo shows up and asks if that applies only to them or to everyone. The assistant says everyone and no calls, too. We find out Turaner is inside. Rifat and Erdo leave.

Resat tells Turaner it’s a special project. [It’s that new company and the land grab Resat has been planning.] He’s not letting anyone else in on it. It’s an investment for Meltem and Selim, and for us, too. Turaner says he doesn’t want to be directly involved and he doesn’t want it traced through Meltem either. Resat thinks they should sign a protocol just between themselves. They are interrupted by a call from their wives.

Erdo is with Rifat in his office. Rifat complains about Resat. For years Rifat has felt exploited. He kept quiet and let his brother walk all over them. Rifat is very agitated and starts to hold his left arm. Erdo has his back turned to his dad and starts to complain about the injustice, too. Erdo turns and sees his dad is having a heart attack. Resat hears the commotion and rushes in. Erdo blames Resat.

Asu is on the trail Mustafa’s caller.

Kerim gets a delivery—his visa. Fatma watches through the kitchen window. Rahmi tells Muka there was a delivery for Kerim. She rushes into the house.

Kerim speaks with Fatmagül. He tells her he has the visa, all he needs is the plane ticket and he’s gone. He says, I’ll give you the power of attorney so you can apply for a divorce if you want. You can be free. They hear Muka coming and Kerim quickly asks Fatma to keep it secret for now. She nods yes.

Muka grills Kerim about his delivery. He says nothing and starts to go. Muka says she met the landlady at the market and they are going to the landlord’s tonight. All thanks to the display the landlady witnessed. And Muka found out about Erol’s “investigation”, too. We have to save our honor here, she says. Fatma wants no part but Kerim says “we’ll go”. Muka makes a crack that it’s good Fatma listens to her husband.

Poor Rifat Yasaran: mekanın cennet olsun (may his place be in heaven) Selim gets the call from Munir that Rifat has died. He’s stunned. Munir asks him to stay home and prepare the women. Selim cries and tells Meltem what happened.

Rifat is taken from the building, accompanied by Erdo. Munir asks him to wait for them (him and Resat). Erdo shouts at Resat, don’t come! My father died because of you! Munir hustles him away. Turaner stays with a distraught Resat.

Selim enters the living room and the ladies can tell something is terribly wrong. Selim hugs Hilmiye. She thinks it’s Erdogan. Selim says, “amcam öldü”, my uncle died.

Asu runs into Meryem in town and asks for directions to the Mukhtar’s (the neighborhood admin) office. Asu calls Sami, who is waiting in a café that happens to be Erol’s. He’s ticked she’s wasting time.

Fatma tries to get out of the dinner. Muka says it’s especially important for Fatma to go. Besides, your husband said you will go, Muka says, it’s not up to you.

dondi356

Fatmagul #12 part 2

Asu asks the Mukhtar for the address of a friend who just moved to the neighborhood. Her name is Fatmagül, but she’s not sure of the last name since she just married. Her husband is Kerim. The Mukhtar says he can’t give that info out. He tells Asu to leave her contact info so he can give it to them. No, thanks.

Meryem arrives home and Fatma tells her they have to give a performance tonight at the landlord’s house. We have to show we are a happy family so no one will suspect. Muka pipes up that the landlords are suspicious and we have to make nice with them. We all have to be on the same page tonight. Muka tells Meryem that Kerim got a delivery today.

Meryem visits with Kerim. He tells her he got the visa, he’s going to Belgium. She’s subdued but wishes him a good trip.

The Yasarans are devastated over the sudden loss of Rifat. Hilmiye tells her son that he caused his father too much upset. He kept it all to himself. He tried to be strong but he couldn’t take it. Hilmiye snaps at Erdo to leave. Oh boy, there’s gonna be big trouble between Resat and Erdogan.

Asu and Sami pay the bill with Erol and Emre stops in with fish. Erol tells Emre that his mom wants him home because the tenants are coming tonight. Emre mentions Kerim and Asu takes note. She listens in on Emre’s and Erol’s convo. Fatma’s name is mentioned too. Asu sends Sami on his way. She wants to stay a bit longer. Sami knows she’s up to something but he leaves.

Asu strikes up a conversation with Emre. They talk about his work as a fisherman.

The visit to the landlord has its awkward moments. Notably when the subject of grandchildren comes up. Emre arrives late and says he had to see a friend to her house. We see Asu has Emre’s number on her phone.

Speaking of awkward, we are at the Yasarans. People have gathered to pay respects. I don’t know why Resat thinks it’s a good idea to speak with Erdogan now. Resat says, you lost your father and I lost my brother. Erdo says he doesn’t want to see Resat’s crocodile tears. Resat replies to have some respect. Erdo blames him again for Rifat’s death and it all goes downhill from there. Erdo declares himself a rival to Resat. He tells Resat to be afraid and storms off.

Emre leaves a message for Asu. His mother walks in and questions him. He tells her he met a pretty girl today. Shy and timid. A perfect family girl. She lives with her brother. [poor Emre]

Yasar and Mustafa get word of Rifat’s death. Allah rahmet eylesin (God rest his soul) Nothing else for them to do, they are on the road. Mustafa checks a text from Asu—she’s on the trail for the number. He deletes the message.

Kerim and Meryem read the paper and see the full-page notice about Rifat. “acı kaybımız” our painful loss. Kerim calls Erdo to offer condolences. He tells Erdo he’s leaving this week and they say goodbye. Meryem tells Kerim that Rifat was a nicer person than his brother. No one spoke bad about him. She tells Kerim not to go to the funeral because Mustafa might be there.

We see Kerim take the wedding certificate and I think a bank book out of the cabinet. He tells Meryem he is buying his plane ticket. She tries again to change his mind about leaving—you will suffer there alone. Kerim looks at Fatma through the window and says, it’s worse here with these people.

At the breakfast table, Muka reads the Rifat news. Fatma sees a pic of the rotten ricos and pours tea on Rahmi’s hand.

Mustafa gets a message from Asu. He calls her. She just wanted to hear his voice.

Kerim readies to leave and Meryem warns him again about going to the funeral. He replies, he’s buying a ticket. With what money? He says he has money and not to pressure him.
Asu continues to play Emre like a fiddle.

dondi356

Fatmagul #12 part 3

Fatma asks Meryem to keep the secret that Kerim is leaving so Muka doesn’t talk him into staying.

Kerim exits the bank and asks someone where he can find a notary (?) Maybe to do with the attorney letter?

Meltem and Selim think they should postpone the wedding due to Rifat’s death.

Munir wants to start the work on the inheritance procedures asap. Resat finds this disagreeable to talk about now. Munir says it’s necessary and he will take care of it. Resat asks Munir to be fair, see that Erdogan gets his share and provide a monthly income for Hilmiye.

Erdo promises his mom he will be the son his parents always wanted. Even if his father isn’t here to see it.

Kerim comes into the house to clean his dinner dishes and Fatma comes in. He tells her he wants to talk with her alone tomorrow. Only 10 minutes. Muka hears and gets up to poke her nose in. Kerim leaves and sees Meryem crying out back at the table. Kerim goes to her but she doesn’t want to talk.

Muka and Rahmi take Murat to his first day of school. Kerim takes the opportunity to have the talk with Fatma. Kerim shows her his plane ticket. He’s leaving on Thursday. He shows her the attorney’s letter. You can divorce me, you will be free. He tells, I didn’t want to come into your life like this Fatmagül. It kills me to be a man that you hate. He wants to say more but she gets up. Then Emre and Asu come by in his boat. Fatma quickly takes the papers.

Emre and Asu (assumed name Enise, btw that’s Kerim’s mother’s name) are invited to sit and have tea. Asu checks Fatma out. Fatma goes to the kitchen and puts the papers on the table. Meryem asks about the girl and notices the envelope with the papers.

Emre tries to get Kerim and Fatma to go out with them for some sightseeing. Asu says it would be good if they come. She didn’t tell her aunt she would be out with Emre. If someone sees, she could say she’s out with married friends. Fatma gives in and says yes.

Munir is angling for some of Rifat’s shares. Resat says everything will be distributed according to the will and if Erdo wants, he can sell his shares. Munir claims he is worried about giving Erdo too much power in the company. Erdo is not submissive like his father. Resat proposes that Selim and Erdo have equal shares and that should solve it.

Erdo tells Vural and Selim his first act as a shareholder will be to give Vural a job.

As the couples sightsee, Asu grabs hold of Fatma’s arm and they start to chat. Asu tells her some stuff about her family, maybe some of it is true. She asks Fatma where she lived before. Izmir, Fatma replies. Asu asks why they came to Istanbul. Fatma says it’s because Kerim wanted to.

Meryem tells Muka that Fatma and Kerim went out with Emre and a friend. Muka complains that they did this behind her back (!).

Looks like the 4 friends are enjoying their outing. They cut some of this. Especially of note is Emre starts to pour some raki for Kerim. Kerim looks at Fatmagul and he immediately stops Emre from pouring.

Asu keeps checking out both Fatmagul and Kerim and their interactions. Mustafa calls while they are sitting at the outdoor café. Time to part and there are pleasant goodbyes. We’ll meet again, etc. As soon as Emre and Asu take off, Fatma bolts. Kerim walks a safe distance behind. Asu turns and notices.

At night, Fatma reads the attorney letter. This “authorizes Fatmagul Ilgaz to carry out divorce proceedings”. Kerim is restless in his bed. Asu wonders if she should call or send something to Mustafa, she doesn’t.

Fatmagul #12 part 4

Kerim leaves the shed with his suitcase he runs into Fatmagul. [from the Turkish] I’m leaving, he tells her. I thought I wouldn’t see you again. I waited, she replies. He starts, I’m very sorry you know me like this. There are so many things I’ve repeated over and over again in my head that I haven’t been able to tell you. I am very sorry. Very sorry. I’m begging you to forgive me. One day… please forgive me one day. He picks up his bag and walks.

Fatma calls out, Kerim. “Seni affetim”, I forgive you. Go now. He stops, drops his bag and turns and smiles at her. He walks back to her and takes her hands in his and kisses them. He tells her “Çok teşekkür ederim” thank you very much, thank you very much. He hugs her. And then he startles awake. It was a dream.

Kerim gets out of bed and looks out his window. He looks at the wedding certificate. He sits at the desk and starts writing.

Mustafa brings back a Russian nesting doll for Asu. She says we are all like this, made of layers. She holds up the last small doll and says, and we are this much if not smaller. Asu says remember that phone number? Did you find it, Musafa asks? Asu lies, there’s no pay phone, it’s an unused number. It was a mistake.

Emre sends a message to Asu: why don’t you call? Why don’t you answer my calls? Did I do something wrong? [no Asu, did]

Mustafa is very disappointed. Asu says let’s get something to eat and drink.

Meryem is with Kerim as he makes his final prep before leaving. She tells him, don’t forget anything. He takes Fatmagul’s flower. Meryem starts crying. He hugs her and says we won’t be separated forever. Once I get settled, you will come join me. Abla, I’m sorry for disappointing you. For everything I made you go through… I am very sorry. Meryem holds Kerim tight and sobs.

Then she breaks away saying, let’s look to see if you forgot anything. Kerim picks up an envelope addressed to Fatmagul. Can you give this to Fatmagul? But only once I’m gone. Kerim picks up his stuff and tells Meryem he will send his address, he will call. “kendine iyi bak”, take care of yourself. Meryem says, Allah emanet ol. [she is entrusting him to God]

Fatma watches the taxi pull up. Meryem walks Kerim to the taxi. One last hug. Kerim sees Fatma watching. Kerim leaves in the cab. Fatma opens the door for Meryem. Fatma says, please don’t hate me because he left for me. He is the reason I’m in this. Meryem gives Fatma Kerim’s letter.

We hear Kerim’s voice and see a mix of past and present scenes: [Turkish] With all my heart, I want to change things which are beyond my power. I want to rewind the time to the distant past. I would die to pull both of us out of this life, in which the days are as dark as the night.

I’ll be living with the only hope that one day, I will be forgiven. I’ll say I’m sorry a million times to those eyes that never look into my own. I’ll dream of the days that you will rebuild your life from the ruins I made of your hopes. I will wish to recover only when your wounds are healed.

I’m leaving behind this money that burns my hands so that you may go on with your life however you want. I know it will burn your hands, too, but please accept it. You only need to go to the bank and give your signature.

Wherever I am in the world, I’ll always be thinking of you. If only you didn’t hate me so much. If only you could believe me. If only everything was different. Fatmagul, I’m leaving with all my what if’s and regrets and I will always live with them. “Hoşçakal”
(Goodbye)

Fatma puts the letter under her pillow.

And we are out!

dondi356

Fatmagul

Dondi, thank you for another wonderful retelling of all the drama .

Muka is unbelievably nosy and controlling. She has to know what everyone is saying, doing, thinking . She cAnnot stand the way Fatmagul and Meryem are starting to bond due to the loving kindness that Meryem shows fatmagul. Meryem is taking away Muka' s power over Fatmagul which infuriates Muka. Ha.

And Kerim ...the guilt, shame , frustration , and longing he feels is written all over his face . Those eyes .

When they show Kerim in his lonely shed gazing out the window at the house and the people in it , it reminds me of the old movie " Rear Window. " Jimmy Stewart is in a wheelchair in his apartment and watches his neighbors across the courtyard.

Fatmagul

Dondi, muchas gracias! For another fantastic recap! What an exciting episode as you said earlier. Wow!

Poor Kerim, of course, the letter mentions looking into those eyes that never look at him. He can't take his eyes off her and he can't get her to look at him. I can't remember the last time I saw an actor this good at wearing all his emotions on his face, his eyes say it all! Fatma looks at him often enough when he isn't looking but of course, he doesn't know that. The look on his face when she actually agreed to go sightseeing!! I laughed out loud, the poor man is lucky he didn't fall out of his seat. He was so shocked and happy she actually agreed to spend the day with him. Then a couple of times she actually did look at him, again he's shocked and he just stares longingly. I almost expected him to get hopeful and change his mind about leaving. Of course, that false hope would have been cleared up when she bolted the second they were alone. LOL

It was nice to see Fatma making a friend. It would be a good sign if it wasn't Asu lying her ass off and manipulating her. But maybe she can make some real friends. It was also nice to see her making fun of Muka and the 'performance' for the owners of the house.

Muka is more ridiculous every day. I actually enjoyed the looks on her face when she's lifting her eyebrows and making her insinuations! The actress has a talent for comedic body language. And really is just talented period but it's hard to admire someone being so horrendous.

I still don't care what the Yeseran's are doing, although I guess it's sad that the least of all evils was the first to pass and it was surprising that Resat seemed so genuinely upset by it.

I don't care about Mustafa at all or his intrigues.

Ironic that Kerim is leaving at precisely the time when Fatma is starting to thaw a little, a very little, but still a little. The fact that she first watched him leave and then put the letter under her pillow is telling. How difficult those feelings would be to process. The enemy is supposed to be evil and mean, not caring and kind. He's supposed to glare not cry. He's not supposed to say things like 'I would die to pull us out of this life,' and 'wherever I am in the world, I'll always be thinking of you.' When the people who are supposed to love you are cruel (Muka, Mustafa) and the people who are supposed to be cruel are loving (Kerim) life would feel upside down enough, but you add the trauma of that horrible night and thing else - it would be so very confusing!

Fatmagul

Darcy ! Yes, yes, yes . Everything you said . It's getting complicated as each character tries to move forward .

Fatmagul

Thank you, dondi356. The details from the Turkish version are so valuable. Your translation of the letter was much better.

I think the letter reached Fatmagul the way nothing else would and the conditions were set to allow it. She would not listen to Kerim face to face, she would probably not read any letter if she did not know that he left. But as it was, remembering their talk on the boat, she felt curious about what he had to say. The content of the letter was also something that she needed. Seeing everybody else, the other three, Mustafa, just moving on like nothing happened was hard to bear for her. The letter showed Kerim's regret, conscience, feelings.

Fatmagu l

Lucio, I think you made a good analysis of the situation . Fatmagul is traumatized and holding onto her anger. Since she is not in contact with the three ricos, she is unleashing her frustration and fury on Kerim . Muka is not helping by constantly berating fatmagul, making her feel responsible for what happened, and pushing her to just give in and except Kerim as had husband. Shut it , Muka.

Kerim has to deal with Muk's orders, Fatmagul's hate, Meryem's pleas for him to take responsibility for Fatmagul, and Munir and the rich boys demands to protect them .

So happy that Hercai is back on
Now I got something to to look forward beside over loading on hallmark. Which is good in a pinch but the ugly christmas sweater contest is abit much.

The first episode was last night. Is anybody recapping yet
I already know what's being said but it's fun reading everybody else's thought on the goings on of these two madly in love on again off again angry
People.

herc

Nina, no one has said they'd recap last night's episode, so I will try to put up a brief recap soon. I hope we can get a set of recappers for this season.

Brief recap of episode 1, season 2: Part 1 of 2

Azize announces that this is Elif's last day here before she leaves.

In front of all the others in the Aslanbey courtyard, Miran tells Sukran (his other grandmother, Dilsah's mother) that she too is a matriarch of the family.

Gonul tries to encourage Firat to confide in her. He says he just wants to take a walk, and he starts to leave. Gonul takes his arm and goes with him. She continues to press him to tell her what's bothering him.

Sukran has returned to her room at the Aslanbey mansion to go to sleep. Miran comes by to see whether she's OK. They talk aabout how much they mean to each other.

Back in their room, Miran tells Reyyan that when he speaks with Sukran, he feels at peace. Things seem to be going well between him and Reyyan. (Perhaps the pause between season 1 and season 2 helped.) Miran then picks up the armchair where Reyyan has spent a lot of time and, IIRC, at times slept. He carries the chair to the balcony and pushes it over the side, breaking it. Reyyan is dismayed, but he claims they no longer need it. They're now apparently sleeping in the same bed, but more like brother and sister than husband and wife.

Someone arrives with a large package Miran had ordered. I thought it might be a large framed picture, but it's a folding screen. Now Reyyan can undress while Miran is still in the room instead of one of them having to leave. Reyyan goes behind the screen to change into a new robe. She then goes out with a pitcher to get some water. She goes downstairs to the courtyard level. (Is there no water on the level with their bedroom? Is there no bathroom on their level?)

Reyyan encoutners Azize, who asks what she's doing. They talk, and the talk becomes increasingly hostile. Azize asks what she's up to with Miran. Reyyan replies that she's helping him to see the truth. Azize claims that she'll find her father is not the fine man she thinks he is, and she warns Reyyan, "You may discover things you'll be worry you know."

Azize goes into Sukran's room without knocking. The room is dark, and Sukran seem to be asleep. I was surprised that the door wasn't locked. Fortunately, Sukran either wasn't asleep or woke up. Azize tells her she should pack her things and leave and never come back. Sukran tells Azize she's not afraid of her. She tells her she's going back to sleep, but first she wants to give Azize a note someone asked her to give her. The note is on the same kind of paper as the two Azize received in Season 1. This one says something like "You wrote the past, but you won't write the future." Azize is taken aback. She leaves and returns to her room, very upset. "Who wrote this?" she wonders. "What do you want from me?" "I swear I'll find you!"

Back in ReyMir's room, we see them in bed, but Reyyan is still not ready to have sex. Miran assures her, "My love knows how to wait. I could wait my whole life."

Azize goes to the courtyard and yells for Firat. Firat appears, and she tells him to get the car, they're going to the lawyer's. She wants to take back the authority she had given Firat to control all the Aslanbey resources. To her astonishment (and mine), Firat refuses. He reminds her of what she told him about why she didn't want to give that power to Miran: "Love had confused his mind." Firat then tells Azize that anger has confused her mind. An enraged Azize returns to her room and calls her lawyer, demanding that he find a way for her to take back control.

Episode 1, part 2 of 2

Esma comes to see Azize. The normally compliant Esma tells her that her loyalty has its limits. She is ashamed of the support she has given Azize. "It's over! Everyone will know the truth. This mansion is crumbling, and it's all your fault." Azize says Esma can tell whoever she wants, but there's something she should hear first. Azize calls Mahmoud on the phone, puts him on speaker, and asks him, "Who ordered you to attack the place where Reyyan and Miran were living?" "You did," replies Mahmoud. Azize continues, "And when you told me that you couldn't be sure that they wouldn't be injured or killed, what did I say?" "You said it didn't matter, I should proceed." Azize then turns to Esma and says, "No one is indispensable, Esma."

A shaken Esma leaves. She proceeds down the stairs to the courtyard, but when she reaches the bottom, she slumps to the ground unconscious. Everyone gathers around her, trying to see how she is and revive her. A doctor is summoned. He examines her and says it's just her high blood pressure. She'll be fine.

Firat sits by Esma, who is resting in bed. He asks her whether what he said to Azize caused this to happen. Azize is also in the room, standing behind Firat. Esma therefore assures him that what he said had nothing to do with it, it was just her blood pressure and the stress from extra work now that Sehriyah is gone. She looks briefly in the direction of Azize, but it's not clear whether Firat noticed this. Azize assures Esma that they can get more household help to replace Sehriyah and wishes her a speedy recovery.

In the courtyard, Azize tells Elif it is time to leave to catch the plane. Miran asks Elif whether she realy wants to go. With some hesitation, Elif says yes, she has made her decision. Miran agrees that if that's her decision, she should go.

We then see Elif's suitcases being loaded into the car. Miran and Azize stare at each other coldly as the episode ends.

I'll try to get a minicap up sometime tonight.

herc,telemundo

Hercai needs recappers!

I was surprised that Telemundo brought Season 2 of Hercai so quickly, but after watching the first episode, I am happy that they did so. I'm hoping we can find a team of folks willing to recap once a week. The recaps needn't be long, just enough to give an overall idea of what occurred. Of course, longer recaps are also welcome. I just don't want to discourage anyone who fears that a one or two page recap wouldn't be welcome. If you're willing, or might be willing but have questions that need answering, please post a message here, if possible saying which days might be possible for you. I say "days" just so we can try to work out a schedule where each recapper would be responsible for a given day.

I should add that, though I appreciated the chance to watch the first week or so of Fatmagül, I found the 2-hour episodes more than I could comfortably handle. And, to be honest, I find Hercai more to my liking, and I much prefer 1 hour a day rather than two. I didn't want to say anything until after I saw the first episode of Hercai2. Now that I have, I've stopped watching Fatmagül.

Herc

Woo Hoo! Hercai is back! Thank you Juanita for the fabulous recap! You missed nothing, including the fact the Aslanbey mansion doesn’t have a bathroom upstairs!

Nice to see Miran respecting Reyyan’s boundaries. I was floored that Firat and Esma both stood up to Azize. So Grannie Sukran had a note up her sleeve! I love seeing the Azize fear and meltdown! Who is the Master Note-Writer?

Count me back in to recap Monday night episodes Juanita. The situation with my Mom is stable for now, so I should be able to get at least a short recap up after each Monday epi.

Looking forward to reconnecting with all of you again on this great dizi!

Herc

Oh boy...now that Herc is back....I'm watching 3 turk shows when I'm not working. They are all good shows so far. I can try to put up a recap...or get the convo started with Tuesday epis...which mean I plan to cover tonight.

Nett

herc

VVS, I'm very happy to hear that your mother is doing better, and delighted that you'll be able to recap on Mondays!

herc

Nett, you say you plan to cover tonight, but tonight is Thursday, not Tuesday. I think novelera plans to do a recap tonight. Any chance you can do Wednesdays?

Juanita, thanks for the recap . I noticed that the chair wasn't in the bedroom and nobody was sleeping on the floor , but i missed Miran getting proactive and throwing the chair out.

The battling grannies is interesting . Who is sending those notes? Could Dilsah still be alive ? That would be great for Miran.

herc

I'm flexible. My first thought was to have Nett go ahead with tonight and do Friday instead. I have been doing Thursday recaps during Part 1. If I do Friday instead of Thursday this week, it probably would be on the brief side because this Friday is my monthly dinner and conversation group that is now back to IN PERSON gatherings!!!

Let me know what you decide, Nett.

That would be great for Miran.

herc

Thanks so much, Juanita, for doing last night's well-done recap. You got it all and with some excellent points. I'm glad I'm not the only person who obsesses about the characters in these Ottoman mansions not having en suite bathrooms. They wake up in the morning and don't need to pee right away? I would not survive long in one of those luxurious, but lacking bedrooms!

Watching Azize suffer makes me SO happy. I think Esma might have still stood up to her if she didn't fear HAG would have Mahmound kill Firat.

I don't believe Elif will really leave, but I'm not sure how they'll show it not happening.

Azize vs Sukran looks like a mismatch, but I think that Sukran's ace in the hole might be that she has some medical condition that is terminal...so Azize's threats just bounce off. But she does want to be with Miran as long as she possibly can, to counteract the witch's poison.

I wish they could have let Esma's defiance last longer than just a few minutes!

Miran kind of reverted to shrill guy when he went after Sultana for questioning Firat's maintaining control over the fortune. I personally think he is the best one for the job!

And, of course, my brain is failing me about who it was. But someone asked Firat about being in love and he responded that it was impossible. No sightings of Yaren and evil novio last night, except in that mini-preview that I tried to avert my eyes from. I HATE spoilers.

HERCAI
